Hey guys, I'm baaaaaaack! I know, it's been a while, but math is much harder than I thought, and with my new roosterteeth sponsorship (as I have been too broke to afford it before), I've discovered theatre mode and camp camp (OMG CAMP CAMP IS BEAUTIFUL) and Day 5, my brain has not been in writing mode. Except during math, when I have to focus. Not that I do but still…
Anyway, this is a request from AnimeVulpaGirl, so while I own nothing, I hope you enjoy!
Dragon AU: Here There Be Dragons
It was a time of heroes. Every day, songs were sung of their brave deeds, slaying monsters and rescuing damsels-in-distress from cruel fates. Knights fought for little more than their honor, and villains had to be truly evil to be feared by the world. But among all the monsters and villains to destroy, one creature reigned supreme as the worst of them all… the dragon!
Incredibly strong, unbelievably agile, near immortal, with the ability to breathe fire and a tendency to kidnap princesses, dragons would wreak havoc and then completely disappear to their treasures. No one, not even the greatest of heroes, was a threat to…
"Us! Us Ren! The stories are about us!" Nora was cackling over the fire, watching Ren cook their dinner -two rabbits that had been mercilessly hunted down earlier in the day. "We are the vicious dragons kidnapping princesses and killing heroes!"
"We never did any of that."
"Well, I know that! Those heroes got themselves killed by that slime thing; we just happened to be there at the same time! And that mean girl was not our fault, and she wasn't a princess either! Her friend in red told her to let go! But she just held on and then yelled at us, when we didn't want her! I mean, why would we want her dust or her money? We have better treasure! Is that rabbit done?" Nor plopped herself down on a rock, watching the boy removing the meat from the fire carefully, making sure not to drop it.
"Yes, don't eat it too…"
"Hot!"
"…fast. Nora!" Ren sighed while Nora ran around with her tongue hanging out of her mouth, shaking his head slowly. "It just came off the fire, of course it's hot."
Of course, they were dragons, so the heat didn't really bother them. Nora was just overreacting… as she tended to do.
"I didn't think it was going to be that hot! Not that it really burned, cause dragon, but still! That was a shock! Ren, did you try some?"
"Not yet." He'd been watching Nora, as he usually did. "I used the last of our spices though. We'll have to stop in town for supplies."
"A-ok!" They hadn't been in town in forever! Too many people in town, so they couldn't transform and fly around… just look at the stories that spread even when they just flew around in their mountains! "We can get all the latest gossip too! See the heroes who want to challenge us! Bet on who'd win that fight! See which monsters have…"
"Nora."
"Yes Ren?"
"We're not picking fights." Not this time… and not on purpose. "Just shopping."
"Awww, but that's boring!" Feeling well enough to sit and eat, Nora set herself down to eat, practically swallowing her rabbit whole. "There's always people who would fight us in town though! How can we deny them that honor?" Nora giggled at the look Ren sent her, reading his blank glance as a complete no. "Okay, okay, but can we stop by the tavern for lunch? They serve a mean raven pie! Ooh, but yours is better, don't worry! But you never get to make it anymore, because birds don't go by the caves anymore! Which make them smart, cause we'd eat them if they were around, but totally lame!"
Well, it had taken the birds a surprisingly long time to move away from the caves Nora claimed for them, so they probably weren't as smart as Nora gave them credit for. Still, a day of travelling in human form never left Ren in a cooking mood, so he was more than willing to stay in town for the extra time.
And if they were lucky, the day would be uneventful, and they'd return to the caves with no hassle… and no knights tagging along!
()~~()~~()~~()~~()
"Wow, look at all the people! Did we lose track of everything and its really festival time?" Nora stole a few stools as the occupants left for mere seconds, waving down a bartender. "Hey, what's going on?"
"Nora! Welcome back! Where's… ah, there's your shadow." The old man had gotten used to the odd pair… or as used to them as any outsider could possibly be. "What'll it be for you today?"
"Raven pie and news! For one, what's up with all the people?" Nora waved a hand around the crowded building carelessly, hitting a drunk near her. "Oops, sorry about that!"
"Heroes and dragon hunters." The old man spit on the ground to show his opinion of the people crowding his tavern. "Claiming they're here to save us. Ha! We ain't never had a problem with our dragons, or any other monsters since they showed up. And this is what happens!"
"They're all here to fight the dragons?" Nora was far more excited about that piece of news than she should have been, eyes lighting up as she started bouncing in her stool. "Seriously?"
"Even got Pyrrha Nikos out here. Bah!" The girl sent Ren an excited grin at that news, barely listening to the rest. Pyrrha Nikos, famous monster hunter? Here? She might actually be worth a fight; she might be entertaining to play with! "Apparently they grabbed some heiress friend of hers. Pah, wasn't like they kept her, as she came back without a scratch on her. Them nobles always have to make a big deal out of the little things. We know, we leave the dragons along, they leave us along. Simple!"
"All things are simple if you just think about it!" Nora agreed cheerfully, bouncing even more as their food arrived, taking a giant bite. "Yum!"
"Has anyone found the dragons?" Ren already knew the answer to that question, as they were sitting right there, but that wasn't really what he'd wanted to know. Does anyone know where they live? would have been the more appropriate question, but that one wasn't so easy to ask upfront.
After all, what would he say if someone asked why he wanted to know?
"Not yet; them dragons are smart. You break that boy, you won't live to become a man!" The old bartender was done with their conversation, darting over to an apprentice who'd obviously had too much to drink.
With their relative privacy, Nora beamed over at Ren, already halfway done with her food… and probably more than ready to eat Ren's as well. "We're famous! That's the first time in this generation!"
And in a lot of danger. Not that it would mean anything if he'd said that out loud; Nora lived for dangerous situations. But this had grown far bigger than it should have… much bigger than even Ren could have expected.
This one wasn't even their fault. They had been hunting monsters who strayed too far into their territory when the heiress and friends had jumped in and used Nora as easy transport to the monster leader. It certainly wasn't Nora's fault the heiress girl hadn't let go when she was supposed to. Even Ren would complain that they were getting undue blame for this situation; for once, it wasn't Nora and her mischievous streak wreaking havoc.
Maybe they should have just dropped the heiress off the mountain and…
No. That was a Nora thought popping into his head without permission. Ren didn't come up with ideas that could lead to grievous injury, dismemberment, and/or death.
"Hey, it'll be fine!" Nora waved a hand breezily in the air, finishing off her pie with a flourish. "And even if all these heroes are a bore and get in the way a little, at least the town benefits! I haven't seen this many people here… ever! It's just like a party!"
"Nora, that's not a good thing," Ren noted, absently pushing some of his food towards the girl. She would eat it anyway, so what was the point in fighting it? "Remember the last party we were at?"
"Oh yeah…" Explosions. There were lots of explosions, amazing explosions, and none of them were because of Nora… or most of them hadn't been. It had just been loud, and crazy, and awesome! "But it was amazing Ren! We had so much fun… okay, I had a lot of fun, and you made sure I didn't die! Still amazing!"
That pretty much summed up his entire relationship with Nora… she did absolutely insane things while Ren protected her life and the lives around them. It was a system that worked for them, and it wasn't as if Nora was ungrateful or looked for dangerous things to do… she was just slightly insane.
"Oh I think that's Pyrrha Nikos! Who's that guy with her though? He looks familiar… Ren, we should…"
"Leave." Using the hero's fame, and the suddenly invasive crowd, as camouflage, Ren guided Nora out of the tavern and into the cool air. The hero's arrival had changed the atmosphere in there, and while Ren wouldn't ever let something hurt her -and Nora was more than a match for most people- the risk couldn't be worth it. It was much better to wait, to plan… to face any heroes in the mountains… in their own territory where defending themselves and the treasure -killing anyone if they had to- much easier than it would have been in town.
()~~()~~()~~()~~()
Despite the heroes swarming around the mountain, the next few days were surprisingly peaceful. There were no major battles, as Pyrrha hadn't come for them yet, and if Nora led a few wanna-be heroes on a mad goose chase… well, there was no harm done. She took human form in safe places and made sure no one could ever follow her to their treasure hoard, so Ren had no real complaints when Nora returned home with stories to tell.
Besides, she was holding herself back from all her pranks, transforming into a human to avoid the most stubborn of her victims. He wasn't too fond of that, as there was a bit of hassle after transforming, but there wasn't much to complain about until she started playing pranks on him. Oh, they were harmless, but more than often had Ren chasing Nora instead of doing something productive… like finding a more permanent solution to their hero problem.
And sometimes, Nora's pranks were just odd… like this morning.
Ren preferred to sleep in dragon form, knowing he'd be ready if something bad did happen… and it was a lot harder for Nora to do anything embarrassing to him. Besides, unlike Nora, Ren's green scales were much more natural-looking than Nora's bright pink scales, so it also acted as a camouflage.
That didn't work so well when Nora got the bright idea to use her scales to make a pink streak down his side.
Ren woke to the sound of Nora's giggles, the girl clapping her hands at whatever was currently amusing her. The male sent Nora a pointed glare, unable to speak in this form, wondering what she was so happy about. Were the heroes gone and they were free to do whatever they wanted as normal?
They mystery was solved when Nora dragged one of their mirrors over, a slow move as she was still giggling helplessly. Rolling his eyes, Ren heard the scales dropping as he went into human shape, blinking at Nora when he was finished. "Amused?"
"Uh-huh!" Nora was beaming as Ren reached for his clothes, marveling over how many scales were currently lying around him. "It looked really good though!"
"Mm-hmm…" He was not going to give Nora more of a response to that opinion… "How long exactly have you been planning that out?" There were far too many scales for this to have been the efforts of the last few days… not unless she was yanking the scales out herself.
"Forever and ever and ever! Ever since you let me dye your hair with the streak! We'll have to do it again soon; it's looking really faded!" Nora flopped onto the ground cheerfully, stretching out easily with a laugh. She got herself comfortable quickly, rolling around a few times in the process.
"Nora, that was months ago." The first time she'd done it at least… Nora reapplied the dye regularly -he wasn't sure why- but he wasn't sure how long 'forever and ever and ever' was… He did know, however, that it was a long time for Nora to sit on a prank and hide it from him.
He could almost respect the trick just for that.
"Uh-huh! Imagine how cool it would look if you came blazing down in dragon form, and bam! One streak of my awesome pink so everyone knows that it's us around! Oh, and I didn't tell you about what happened yesterday! The heroes were at the pond! Our pond, where we have the fish and the water and the deer go to drink! It was so annoying!" Nora complained while Ren stood up, the boy just wanting to make himself something for breakfast. "They scared away the deer too! We should just eat them and get it over with! Show them to scare away my deer; they even shot a doe! What about the baby deer, Ren? We need to kill the heroes to avenge our deer!"
"That'll just bring more."
"Oh, you're right! Okay, then how do we get rid of them all? We… no, that's dumb… ooh! I know! Let's fake our deaths!" Those words were said with more enthusiasm than was necessary for such an idea. "We'll let some hero 'kill' us, and then we move somewhere else again! Remember how well it worked last time?"
"People are smarter than they were two hundred years ago."
"We can have some big name hero do it! People would believe it; they want to believe in their heroes!" Nora, still lying on the ground, threw her hands up in the air excitedly. "We could have Pyrrha do it!"
"…You just want to fight Pyrrha, don't you?"
"Yep! And then we can…"
"Uh… you guys are the dragons?" Nora and Ren both whirled around to find a blonde boy standing at the entrance to their cave. For a moment there was a moment of shocked silence -how on earth had he found this place? - while he scratched his head awkwardly, a sword in one hand.
"Invader!" Not hesitating, Nora screeched as she leapt towards the stranger, rolling when he fell back out of her reach. Growling, knowing that if she'd been in her dragon form, he would have gotten hit, Nora was on her feet in seconds.
"Jaune!" The call came from the left, a red head emerging quickly from the trees.
"Pyrrha!"
"Nora, watch out!" Narrowly avoiding the spear, Nora executed a flawless backflip as Ren transformed next to her. Watching silently, Ren kept a close eye on the heroes, ready for any attack they might try next.
"…Hi!" After a moment of tense silence, Nora waved at the heroes cheerfully, not making any more movement as Pyrrha helped her companion up. This was really Pyrrha Nikos, the greatest monster hunter of all time… and when she wasn't trying to kill them, Nora was a huge fan. "That was a good throw!"
"…Thank you?" The words came out slowly, the hero obviously confused at this very sudden turn of events. Most monsters didn't compliment her skills… most never had a chance to.
"You're Pyrrha Nikos, right? I'm a huge fan of the way you kill evil monsters! The way you killed that gigantic Ursa all by yourself was incredible! I mean, you could have ridden it around first, and been even more amazing, but your way worked too! Ren tells me not to ride the Ursa though!" Nora patted Ren easily, ignoring the tension in the air. It wasn't as if she was planning on killing anyone… she hadn't even planned on even fighting anyone today! She was still in the whole 'fake-death-so-we-can-live-in-peace' planning stage! But they would defend themselves… and the treasure!
The other girl blinked at the odd pair, not sure if all of this was real or not. On the one hand, Pyrrha wasn't known for a grand imagination, and this talkative small girl next to a growling dragon wasn't exactly something Pyrrha would have come up with herself, so it had to be real. On the other hand, Pyrrha wasn't altogether sure the mushrooms Jaune had collected before were harmless, so it could be some strange hallucination she was dealing with.
Either way, the pair didn't seem to be a threat -well, the dragon maybe, but she had a feeling it was more protective than aggressive- but Pyrrha couldn't let her guard down so easily. "You're the dragons?"
"Yep! Both of us! Oh, but we didn't do the things they said we did!" Did every monster claim to be innocent? Well, in her case, it was completely true, so it was probably best to get their innocence known early on. "I mean, I guess kidnapping, but that wasn't on purpose! She grabbed onto me; I didn't want her! I just wanted to kill territory stealing monsters!"
The two heroes spared each other a glance. "Ruby did say that."
"But still, Weiss was gone for two weeks. How long could she have held on?"
"She wasn't hurt. And she did get to yell. And none of her valuables were missing."
"We can't just let dragons roam free. They're…"
"Totally awesome!" Tired of being ignored, Nora interrupted loudly, waving a hand in the air. "Sorry, had to say it! But we are awesome! Ren, go normal!"
Ren sent Nora a look that plainly said that wasn't happening -he wouldn't let his guard down and risk anything happening to Nora. However, at Nora's returning pointed glare, he attempted to relax and seem less threatening… harmless.
Well, as harmless as a ten-foot dragon could be.
"We'll totally leave. You heroes have ruined this place anyway!" Nora offered after a moment of silence. She was beginning to wonder if heroes had a limited amount of words they were allowed to use daily; these ones were too quiet! "Chased the food away and you annoyed the villagers by crowding around! So, you could help us fake our deaths, get the fame for 'killing' us, and then we go our separate ways and live long happy lives!"
It was a good deal… a fabulous one if she said so herself. And, thinking highly of herself, she was a once-in-a-lifetime event for Pyrrha! After all, how many of her opponents got to talk this much to Pyrrha before getting speared?
"We can't just let them go! What if they eat someone?" The blonde hissed nervously, earning himself a laugh from one very amused dragon.
"Why would we do that? Humans are horrible to eat! All those clothes, and pointy weapons, and armor's a pain to peel off… plus, terrible indigestion! Right Ren? Oh, just turn human already, if Pyrrha was going to try killing us, she'd have done it already!" The boy, Jaune, didn't seem like much of a threat, so Nora didn't even include him in her thoughts. Still, something about him was familiar… oh well.
Growling, Ren flicked his tail. Did Nora forget clothes didn't transform with them? He didn't see how, as she liked to hide his clothes while he flew, just to see him embarrassed. Besides, he wasn't sure he trusted these heroes not to attack while they were both vulnerable; unlike Nora, it took more than a few minutes of shocked silence to convince him that they were safe.
"Ooooh… that's right! Nora giggled cheerfully, remembering suddenly what Ren's dilemma would be at transforming back. "Never mind then! So, what do you say? These last words were addressed to Jaune and Pyrrha, her attention flying from her partner to the strangers.
"I'm sorry?" She had confused them. Why did everyone but Ren have a hard time following her train of thought? It was beginning to be slightly ridiculous that she couldn't have a decent conversation without the other party forgetting what they were talking about! Maybe it was the seven-hundred years of experience Ren had… that, and Ren was just awesome!
"You pretend to kill us, and we all go away happy!" The short explanation would work… hopefully. At the very least, they should be able to remember that little bit of information, since Nora wasn't expanding on it. To rid them of any misgivings, Nora did pipe in a little more after a few seconds. "Heroes do it all the time!"
"What?"
"Oh yeah, we dragons aren't as killable as being think! I mean, heroes strike deals with our kind all the time! Well, not recently, two hundred years, right Ren? But before that, all the time! Arthur did it all the time apparently -not us, cause he's too old for us- George, Joan -ooh, I loved her- Sigurd…"
"Joan?" Jaune interrupted -rather rude of him- but Nora took it in stride.
"Oh yeah, Joan of Arc! You've heard of her; I assume you've heard of her at least! Great hero, super strong warrior, one-woman army who led an army, all that cool stuff! I adored her; she had quite the quirky side to her amazing battle skills! Ren adored her too, even if he won't admit it! She was an amazing warrior, and she helped us kill a whole bunch of nasty monsters and evil people! I mean, she got all the credit, because we're dragons, and people wanted us dead, so she pretended to kill us to save us! And we totally saved her when she was stuck in the dungeon; what is with you humans and thinking woman couldn't fight? Not anymore of course, but we still saved her! Good woman, good woman… sad days though! We never got a chance to go back and see her after that!" Nora babbled cheerfully, taking the moment to clamber onto Ren's back. It wasn't as good as being in her dragon form herself, but it made her happy to be so high up… flying would be better though! "You humans just age too fast; she was already gone when we were able to make it back!"
"That's my ancestor…" The blonde sounded faint, as if he wasn't quite sure what he was supposed to do with this new information. He'd known she was a great warrior; he hadn't expected the dragons he was hunting actually knew her.
"That was also more than two hundred years ago," Pyrrha pointed out, trying to be helpful.
"Well, I can't tell you how many years ago exactly that was! When you live for centuries and centuries, all the years don't really matter all that much! Oh, but that explains why you looked familiar; you look just like Joan! Except you're not as curvy, and her hair was always much messier, but other than that, just like her!" Nora replied matter of factly before gasping loudly. "Oh! I just had a totally crazy idea that's even better than the other one!"
Do we even want to know? The heroes thought together, looking at each other carefully. Neither of them were sure how they'd gotten to this point, but now that they were here, neither was sure they could kill the other pair. They were too…
Well, they weren't as monstrous as the stories would make them seem.
"You still pretend to kill us, but then… we go with you!" Nora thought it was the greatest idea ever, clapping cheerfully from Ren's back. "That way you keep an eye on us, because you wouldn't want us to eat anyone, right? And then we kill some monsters, and if something nasty comes along, we'll blast them with dragon fire! And, I can keep an eye on that one, because Joan would like that, and isn't it brilliant? We…"
It was probably bad that she actually considered it, but Pyrrha couldn't just pretend to kill something and take the credit for it. She had morals, and honor, and integrity, so she…
"Oh, but we gotta take the treasure too! Come on Ren, let's go get it!"
Pyrrha looked at Jaune, who was already moving forward. He glanced back with a sheepish grin, shrugging his shoulders. "I don't think they're going to hurt us, and besides… When else will you have a dragon willingly show you it's treasure?"
Well, when he put it that way… "Okay… be careful. It could… I'm sorry!"
The first thing they saw walking in was a naked man pulling on pants, surrounded by pink scales, stopping them in their tracks, both of their faces turning a bright red. The stranger didn't seem disturbed, nodding in their direction. "Hello."
"Uh… Nora. And the dragon…"
"Reeeeeeeeeen! Are you… seriously? You're so slow getting dressed; you should take some of my energy! Oh, this is Ren!" Nora thought of the introduction late, waving a hand absently towards Pyrrha. "He looks cool as a dragon, so it's surprising to see him like this, right? But Ren's cool either way! And it's easier to cook in this form!"
"Very…" Jaune mumbled, finally remembering to put his sword away. He didn't seem to need it at the moment… and he was beginning to doubt it would do him much good.
"Ren, I can't get the wagon out!" Introduction finished and out of the way, Nora ignored their guests to focus on the bigger problem. "You moved it and I can't find it!"
"It's in the back corner," Ren noted, but he got moving anyway. Nora had a bad habit of throwing things out of her way, and she might start if he didn't go himself.
"Come on then!" Jaune and Pyrrha were moving too slow for her, so Nora darted forward to grab their arms. "Our treasure is your treasure when we travel, so come see! Oh, but not some pieces, those are ours and I will bite an arm off if you touch it!"
It was hard to remember Nora was supposed to be a bloodthirsty beast until she said something like that… it was far too easy to see her as a very hyperactive girl.
And it was far easier to stop thinking at all at the sight of all that gold in one place. Except…
"Is that a pot? And a frying pan?" Were they all cooking utensils? Jaune could swear that was a very large gold bowl he saw over there, and relatively sure that the pile of gold to his left was a stack of pans inside of each other. It was certainly not what he was expecting from a dragon's hoard, even if they were all made of gold.
"They're highly inefficient." Ren noted, moving a spoon so it didn't get stepped on. They had a bad habit of melting if he used them too much.
"But they're shiny! Look at this one! It has an emerald in it!" Nora waved a pan around, narrowly missing Ren's head with her swing. While he took it from her for his own safety, earning a disappointed whine, Pyrrha and Jaune took the chance to have a look around.
"Um… Nora?"
"Yes Pyrrha?" It was a comical sight, Ren holding the pan in the air while Nora tried to climb up his arm.
"Is this maple syrup?" Pyrrha held up the bottle carefully, not sure if she was really reading it right. Maple syrup was fine anywhere else, but why would there be boxes, shelves, and piles of it in a treasure hoard?
"Uh-huh! Finest of its age!" Nora darted to take and hug the bottle of her dearest treasure. If anything happened to it… "The maker took the recipe to his grave and this is the very last bottle in existence! It's irreplaceable! It's an important part of history!"
Probably inedible now too, but it wasn't going anywhere but back to the safety of the shelves. It was her treasure, the most important piece of her collection!
Jaune couldn't help but laugh, amused at the idea of maple syrup being treasure. "But… maple syrup?"
"Hey! It's delicious!" Nora protested defensively, crossing her arms. "Besides being amazing, the bottles -most of them anyway- are made by expert level glass makers, and the empty bottles alone are worth a fortune! So there!"
Nora stuck her tongue out at Jaune, rambling about the worthiness of her treasure while Ren pulled out their wagon into a safer position. "You do realize it won't all fit inside?"
"We'll block up the cave and come back when we need more!" Nora decided quickly, leaping forward to put her favorites in a safe spot, where no one would ever touch them. "We'll just take the ones we care about the least!"
All of mine, none of Nora's. Not that Ren didn't like gold, all dragons did -including Nora. He just preferred his in the form of art, not cookware. However, Nora's desires had gone past gold and into 'delicious' maple syrups… so Ren was willing to let her keep the treasure she'd worked so hard for to keep her happy.
It hadn't taken long to realize he'd do anything to make Nora happy… he'd realized it when he'd first met her seven-hundred years ago. In all nine hundred years they'd been alive, Ren hadn't found someone else he'd be so willing to give everything for. He'd even travel with these total strangers as long as Nora wanted them to.
He just hoped it wouldn't end with them hurt and all the treasure gone!
()~~()~~()~~()~~()
"Grandma, why is there a bottle of syrup and a pot on your doorstep?" The little boy nearly fell over as his older sister darted past him, each of them holding on of the items.
"A pot and syrup? I don't know, it's…"
"Grandpa, the pot is gold! I think it's real!" The girl, who acted incredibly similar to a younger version of her grandfather, nearly shoved the pot in his face.
"And the syrup is… Beacon's F-finest!" Stumbling over the reading, the label faded enough that it was nearly illegible, the boy handed the syrup over carefully. The last thing he wanted was to dump it on his grandmother. "It looks really old!"
"Maple syrup?"
"Gold pot?"
The elderly pair accepted the offerings gently, smiling at each other. Even after so many years, the memoires of their adventures came back easily. Of course, they'd never told anyone their companions had been dragons, but that hadn't changed their friendships in the least.
"Was there a note?" Pyrrha asked the children, looking at the bottle closely -Nora could be sneaky with her notes.
"I'll go check!" The boy offered easily, followed by his sister as he darted out to the front yard.
Jaune chuckled at their grandchildren, opening the pot to find a note attached to the lid. "Ah-ha! Typical Nora."
"More like Ren, forcing her to be sensible and not hide it in the syrup." Pyrrha leaned back, listening for returning children. Whatever was in the note, she wasn't sure Nora would have realized children might read; even now, if it became known their companions had been dragons, there would be problems.
"Why waste the syrup?" Both of them chorused, imitating their old friend perfectly. Chuckling, Jaune opened the note to read out loud to his wife.
Hi, Jaune, Pyrrha! Hope this finds you well and all that! It's been waaaaaaaaaaaaay too long since we've all seen each other, so I thought we'd send you these -by the way, if someone stole the syrup, I'll make them suffer -this is a very valuable sample, a kind of companion to the first one you saw in the hoard!
Anyway, we were travelling near Beacon again, and we saw this gigantic Nightstalker! Totally thought of you as we smashed it to pieces, so hey, thinking of you, we're swinging by! By the time you get this note, Ren and I should be on the way to you! We can totally catch up and we can meet those grandkids of yours -you do have grandkids by now, right?
Oh, I gotta go, but some quick news for you! Ren and I are together-together now (just like you all thought at the beginning) and we have a surprise for you! So we'll see you later!
~Nora
"She never changes, does she?" Jaune put the note down, hiding it quickly at the sound of approaching footsteps.
"No, she certainly doesn't." Pyrrha stood, grateful age hadn't slowed her down at all. "So, we'd better make sure we're ready for anything she can throw at us."
*Meanwhile*
"Ren, are we there yet? Why can't we fly? We'd already be at Pyrrha and Jaune's if we flew!"
"You can't fly carrying two eggs."
"Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight… well, let's make the horse go faster! Yee-haw!"
So, as I haven't seen Season 3 yet, there are no spoilers... and I want no spoilers! I'm waiting til it comes to theatres, and I can suffer the feels with all the other fans! (Plus, maybe by then I'll be done with my Nora cosplay, so...) But my friend has a RWBY shirt with a dragon and said it's kinda a spoiler, so... I don't know. I just wanted to let y'all know that I haven't seen Season 3 yet, so if there's Season 3 stuff you want... I don't actually know what happened.
Except the Qrow/Winter beginning. I've seen that (SHIP IT SO HARD), so... yeah. Anyway, that's not really important. Thanks so much for reading guys, and I'll see you in the next chapter!
