Excited to say... MERRY CHRISTMAS! Oh my gosh! Less than 30 days till Christmas and just over 30 till my birthday! Woop, woop!
I was confused as to why Nate was pushing me towards his parents' house. "Baby, what's going on?" I asked for the tenth time that day. Nate just winked and continued to lead me through the path. We had just gotten back from our 6 month scan and we had our suspicions confirmed. We were having one of each! Nate got out his keys and fiddled with them until he got the right one. He put it in the keyhole and twisted, opening the large front door. I stepped in and called out. "Denise? Robert? Anyone home?" I waddled over to the living room and screamed when the girls shouted, 'SURPRISE!'. I held my hand to my heart and started to laugh.
"Baby shower!" Cornelia announced. I looked back and found that Nate had gone to the backyard to meet the buys. "Come!" Cornelia dragged me and sat me down. "Mitchie, Mara and I organized the whole thing." She said, grinning.
"Thank you all so much!" I said, tearing up. My mother and mother-in-law came to hug me then I hugged Connie, Lucy, my cousins, close friends and aunts. I hugged my friends who I hadn't seen in ages. "Ella? Lola? Peggy?" I gasped. "How are you guys?" I said, laughing.
"We're great! When we found out you were pregnant, we had to clear our schedules to come see you!" Peggy said, hugging me. I grinned and hugged Lola and Peggy. Mitchie came to me with a curly blonde girl, wearing glasses.
"Cait, this is Sierra. The one I always talk about." Mitchie introduced. She always talked about Sierra? Not that I know of. She hinted at me to go along with it. I pretended to gasp in surprise.
"Oh! This is Sierra? Wow, it's finally great to meet you!" I exclaimed, giving her a small hug.
"Same here." She smiled, awkwardly.
"Come, have a cupcake." Mitchie smiled, taking her away. Thank God that ended. I swear she was giving me the glares. Mara came and sat next to me, bouncing.
"Well... What are the genders?" She asked. Now that got the whole room's attention.
"It's a girl... and a boy!" I squealed along with the girls.
"Of course, it's one of each!" Mom said, laughing.
"Oh I knew." Cornelia said. I started blushing because I knew what she was going to say. "She called me up and said, 'One of them has a penis!' Shocker!" She joked as the ladies laughed. I saw something glisten in the light. I looked at Mara's hand and saw an... engagement ring! I started grinning.
"Spill." I told her. Her eyes widened and she grinned.
"Jason proposed yesterday!" She told me.
"How come I was last to know?!" I pouted. She kissed my cheek and squished my cheeks.
"Because you were busy. I told everyone while we were getting set up." She said.
"Well, congratulations!" I laughed. "I better not be pregnant when you get married." I looked at her with an eyebrow raised.
"We want to do it quick and private, so, probably after you give birth." She said. I nodded, content with the answer. "How about you and Shane, Mitch? How you guys doing?" She asked Mitchie. Mitchie smiled and shrugged.
"We're better and stronger than ever." She looked off and a small smile played on her lips. She was so happy and I was happy for her.
"Do you think you'll get engaged soon?" Lucy asked Mitchie. Mitchie shook her head.
"We want to take things nice and easy. We're pretty much fixing our relationship at the moment." She said. Connie kissed her cheek and gave me a cupcake. I thanked her and licked the icing off the red velvet cake. My phone rang and I answered it.
"Hello, Caitlyn Gray speaking?" I said.
"Hello, this is Kira." Kira said.
"Oh! Kira, what's up?" I asked her.
"Well... Alex Russo wanted to know if you were busy at the moment." I rolled my eyes. What did she want?
"Yes I am. I am at my baby shower and well, don't tell her that. I'll be free in the next 3 hours." I said.
"Ok. I'll tell her and book your appointment for 4 o'clock. That's all and hope you enjoy the shower! Wait, what's the genders?" She asked.
"A girl and a boy." I grinned. She squealed then giggled.
"Congratulations! Well, I'll leave you for now. See you later!" Kira said.
"Bye!" I replied, hanging up. The front door rang and Denise happily went to answer it. I heard her cries of surprise and happiness.
"Come! Come through!" She said. I looked back and saw Anna. She looked even bigger like me. I gasped and stood up.
"Anna!" I grinned, hugging her awkwardly.
"Caitlyn!" She laughed. "It's been ages." She said, sitting down next to me. I nodded. The rest of the afternoon when by swiftly and fun and I was glad that I had my family and friends' support.
...
I sat down on my desk chair and waited for Alex to address the reason why she was there.
"Miss Russo, may I get you anything?" I said, forcing a smile on my face. Alex shook her head, forcing on a smile too.
"Well... I have a new TV show that I am starring in and I was wondering if you can help me produce some music for it. I am singing the theme song." She said, flicking her hair. I sighed and twirled my pen between my fingers.
"I can recommend you go to Michael Stains. I am knee-deep in bands and singers at the moment." I said, kindly. Alex looked a bit disappointed but smiled it off.
"Ok. Thanks. I will just do that. I better go and let you leave early. Congratulations." She said, genuinely. I smiled and watched her leave. What was she up to? She stopped just short of the door. "And I hope we can be good friends." She said,
"Yeah. Me too." I smiled and nodded, watching her leave again. I collected everything that I needed and went downstairs, after saying bye to Kira. I got inside my car and drove to my mother's.
...
"How are you?" I asked her as I sat down on the sofa, sipping on cranberry juice. She sipped on her coffee and shrugged.
"Happy. I have three beautiful children and nearly six wonderful grandchildren." She smiled. "I haven't been very close to you lately." She admitted.
"It's ok. I am busy as a bee lately." I said, shrugging. "How are you since... Jacob died? Have you met someone?" I asked. Mom smiled and rubbed my cheek.
"I don't care about that man anymore. I don't give a horse's poo that it's his birthday today. And yes, I've met someone new. I've kept him under wraps for months." She admitted. I gasped.
"No!" I said in disbelief. I smiled and got comfortable. "Details." I said, sipping my juice and putting the cup on the coffee table.
"Name is Ricky. He has a daughter and son. Raini and Jerry. He's great, Cait, babe, he really is." She smiled, softly, looking down. I felt happy for Mom. She deserved this.
"I want to meet him. Have him meet us. Today. While I am not neck-deep in work." I said, patting her leg. She nodded and got her phone out.
...
"Your mother is an astounding woman." Ricky gushed and Mom blushed. His children sat there awkward and a bit jealous.
"We know." Jesse laughed. "How old are you two?" He asked.
"We're 18." Raini replied. Jesse and I gasped.
"We're twins as well!" I said, striking up an conversation. Jerry laughed humorlessly.
"We know." He said. "So how far along are you?" He tried. Nate put his hand on my knee and I calmed down.
"Six months." I said.
"We're very excited." Cornelia said, smiling at her children and Tim.
"Yeah, we are." Nate grinned.
"Desert anyone?" Mom asked.
"Raini, go help Rebecca." Ricky said. Raini looked at him. "Now, please." Mom went out and Raini followed. "Sorry, she's a bit..." He left it hanging. I sipped more of my water and stared at Jerry. He looked at me, eyebrow raised.
"Like what you see?" He asked, smirking. Nate choked on his water as I glared at Jerry.
"Jeremiah!" Ricky exclaimed. "Out." He said, getting up and pulling his son with him. Mom and Raini came back with desert and heard the raised voices in the hallway.
"What happened?" Mom asked, putting the dish on the table.
"I bet it had something to do with her." Raini pointed at me.
"Excuse me? How dare you insult my aunt!" Stevie said, standing up.
"How dare she get my brother in trouble." She retorted, facing her.
"How dare you come into my home and insult my family." Mom cut in. Ricky and Jerry came back in.
"We're leaving. I'm sorry, Becky. I'll see you soon." Ricky said, kissing her cheek. Mom stopped him.
"No, please stay. Let's start over. Everyone sit down." She said. Raini and Stevie stayed standing up.
"Stevie, babe, you too." Cornelia said. Stevie sat down and picked up her fork.
"Now, let's apologize, shall we, Jerry?" Ricky asked.
"Sorry Rebecca for ruining your dinner and insulting your family." Jerry looked down.
"Raini?" Her father asked.
"Sorry for insulting your daughter and you. And your family." She said, looking down as well.
"Good. Becky, do you accept on behalf of your family?" Ricky asked.
"Yes, I do. Now desert!" She clapped her hands and served everyone.
...
It was time for Ricky and his children to leave. I liked him so I hugged him bye. He laughed. "Oh, it was nice meeting you too, Caitlyn Alice." He smiled.
"Please, just Caitlyn's fine." I smiled back. I hugged Raini and found out she was actually kinder behind that mean girl reputation. She just missed her mom. Her parents got divorced and her mom lived in Russia now. "See you soon." I said.
"Yeah." She grinned. Jerry just walked straight out and I slammed the door after him. Well, not hard enough to make Raini and Ricky think rude of us. I hugged my family bye and Nate and I went to our car, driving home.
I was glad that I maybe had a new family. A growing one. In three months, I'll have my first children and it sure was going to be a bumpy ride.
