AN: Alright finally I've got this done. Once more I find myself apologizing for how it took to get this out but life either keeps me busy or takes any interest that I have to write. Next I plan to work on my Shaman King and Justice League crossovers before I turn my attention to Crimson Knightmare fic.
Something I was thinking about as I was planning another crossover fic, something I notice I write a lot of, was what would explain Naruto's fear in ghosts and wondered in some subconscious part of his mind Naruto remembered the night he was born and Obito's part in it. This is completely unlikely but it just crossed my mind one day.
Disclaimer: I do NOT own Naruto, Digimon, or anything else that may or may not appear in this Fic.

(Author Notes)
It had been a couple of days since Naruto and Rika had gotten together and officially started dating. At first things had been a little awkward between the two of them neither having any experience with dating. Naruto having a crush on Sakura, and a lot of girls having crushes on him, but never actually having gone on a date before and Rika not even sparring dating a thought before meeting Naruto. The first day after getting together had the teens hesitant to do anything, worried that they might accidentally do something wrong that would make the other person uncomfortable and would make them regret starting a relationship. That awkwardness didn't really last long as neither Rika nor Naruto were the kind to second guess themselves' and returned to their normal selves, doing what they normally do when they hung out only they would be a little closer to one another and affectionate, and just let things progress naturally.
Seiko had noticed a change in the two teens' relationship almost immediately. It wasn't hard for her to see how the two were just a little closer to one another than usual or the glances that they would share. Once she caught them hastily separating from each other when she went to get them for dinner one night and they both had embarrassed looks on their faces and a blush staining their cheeks something that was uncharacteristic for both teens and considering how close they were, and how both their lips were slightly swollen, it wasn't hard to guess what they had been doing, what they had almost been caught doing. Seiko chose not the comment about her knowledge in the change in her granddaughter's and Naruto's relationship choosing to let them tell her whenever they were ready. As long as they didn't do anything that would hurt one another or pushed their relationship to far too early on. Kissing was one thing but teens normally couldn't control themselves because of their hormones and it ended up with sex, something Seiko was not about to allow. She envisioned a beautiful wedding and her granddaughter dressed in white with the whiskered blonde waiting for her down the aisle before anything like that took place.
And then she would have many adorable great-grandchildren to spoil rotten.
Naruto and Rika had gone out to the movies in order to do something different from just hanging out at Rika's and playing the Digimon card game, even as real life Tamers playing the same game got boring. Now the two teens were walking through the park, though Naruto's reasons for doing so were not because he just wanted to enjoy a leisurely stroll through the park with his girlfriend. That was just a bonus.
Naruto wasn't experienced when it came to relationships but even he knew that keeping a secret like he was for all intents and purposes the Kyuubi no Kitsune from his girlfriend was not a good idea. So since he had gotten together with Rika he had been arguing with himself if and when he should tell her the truth. Now the blonde Tamer thought he had waited long enough in fact he could have probably told Rika and the others sooner, he trusted them enough, it just that they would be talking about a part of his life that he had been uncomfortable with for the biggest part of his life. If he had received some sort of closure with the previous Kyuubi before he took its power and it faded from existence Naruto believed he wouldn't be so hesitant now. Sadly that wasn't the case and the Kyuubi died while they were still enemies, and with the war going on Naruto hadn't really given it much thought until he had arrived in this world.
"Hey Fishcake no Baka," Rika called drawing Naruto out of his thoughts. "What's with you?" She asked him. "You have this weird look on your face, well weirder than normal." The redhead finished teasingly.
Naruto looked at Rika, blinking a couple of times in bemusement, before her words registered in his mind and a wide fox grin spread across his face. "Weird? I think you mean incredibly handsome Ri-Chan." Naruto claimed putting his hand against his chin. "After all I got you to agree to be my girlfriend." The whiskered teen pointed out.
"I know," Rika replied almost like she was agreeing with her boyfriend before continuing. "What's wrong with me?" She questioned jokingly, though a part of her again wondered at how much she had changed since meeting Naruto. Dating, having friends, being at all nice to others; they were some of the last things she had ever thought of. If it got in the way of her desire to be the best than she didn't need or want it. With a smile Rika thought that the best day in her life had to have been the day that Naruto came out from behind the tree he and his Digimon were hiding behind the day they first met when she had Renamon fight Guilmon.
Naruto laughed before taking Rika's hand and leading her away from the beaten path. "Come on," Naruto said leading her deeper into the park towards where he normally had the others train.
"Where are we going Whiskers?" Rika asked him.
"There is something that I want to tell you and I want to make sure that we aren't over heard." Naruto replied, sounding completely serious. Rika noticed the tone that her boyfriend was using and just silently nodded her head in acceptance as she followed him, curious to find out what got him so serious all of a sudden.
After arriving at their little training field Naruto let go of Rika's hand and walked a couple steps forward, Rika waiting patiently for Naruto to say his piece. Naruto took one last deep breath and let it out slowly before he turned around to face Rika, looking her straight in the eyes. 'Her beautiful amethyst eyes,' Naruto thought distractedly before mentally shaking his head, 'Focus.' The shinobi told himself' chidingly as he got himself back on track. "Back when I told you and the others about where I came from I also told you that there were somethings that I still had to keep secret, remember?" Naruto asked her.
"Yeah," Rika replied nodding her head in remembrance, "One was something personal and the other was a mission given to you by one of the Four Great Dragons."
Naruto nodded his head in agreement with Rika's statement. "Now that we're dating you have a right to know about one of the things I've been keeping from everyone, especially since you might decide to end things between us when I tell you what it is,." The shinobi Tamer told her. "Even if we hadn't started dating I think it's about time you all found out. But I want to tell you before I tell the others." Naruto stated looking a bit worried.
"Would you spit it out already," Rika said a bit impatient with how long Naruto was taking to telling her whatever it was he wanted to say. Though a part of her was also feeling worried at what it was that he was trying to say that had him so nervous and could potentially end their newly formed relationship.
Naruto let out another sigh before he started. "I told you about the Forth Great Shinobi war and those involved in it, I even told you the end goal, but what I didn't tell you and the others was about the Bijuu whose power was going to be used to complete the Moon Eye Plan and the group of people known as Jinchuuriki." Naruto began before he went on to telling Rika about the nine Bijuu and their Jinchuuriki, how they were hunted by the Akatsuki until there were only two left, and how he was one of those last two Jinchuuriki before eventually becoming the new Kyuubi no Kitsune and a pseudo Bijuu.
Rika, after hearing everything that Naruto had to say, silently stood in front of Naruto deep in thought while looking down at the ground, making the shinobi increasingly nervous with her silence. After about a minute of thinking Rika drew herself out of her thoughts and made eye contact with Naruto. "I'm your girlfriend, right?" She questioned him to which Naruto responded with a nod. "Then there are things only I should be able to do with you, right?" Another nod, "Ok, then close your eyes." Rika ordered.
"Why?" Naruto questioned her somewhat nervously.
"Just do it." Rika commanded sternly as she moved closer to him.
Naruto, with his heart beating faster and his cheeks tinted red, closed his eyes and waited expectantly imagining that Rika was about to give him a kiss like he had seen on so many anime. His excitement was short lived as his senses flared to life only seconds before he felt a fist impact with his face and knocking him off his feet. Landing on his backside Naruto opened his eyes to see Rika shaking her unclenched hand. "What was that for?!" He demanded, a little put out that he didn't get a kiss from his beautiful girlfriend after sharing something so important with her.
"As your girlfriend," Rika began. "I have exclusive rights to hit you whenever you do something stupid, and you can't avoid or block it." The redhead stated unquestionably.
"That reminds me too much of Sakura." Naruto muttered remembering how his pink haired teammate used to punch him whenever he did something she didn't like.
"What was that?" Rika questioned him sternly. If she remembered correctly Sakura was the pink haired girl that Naruto was on a team with back when he first became a shinobi. Now while she had no claim to Naruto back then Rika still didn't like the idea of someone hitting her blonde baka and if she ever met the pinkette Rika was going to make it absolutely clear that she wasn't going to let Sakura punch Naruto whenever she felt like it ever again.
"Nothing," Naruto replied quickly trying to dismiss what he said, waving his hands in front of himself, though Rika wasn't buying it at all.
"Right," Rika said dragging the word out and as sarcastically as possible before continuing. "Anyway that was for thinking that this was going to change anything between us. You are still you no matter what title you've been given, what you call yourself or what others call you won't change that. And I'm sure that Goggle-Head and Einstein won't think any differently of you." The redhead claimed surely before giving her boyfriend a light glare. "But don't think I'm going to let you order Renamon around just because you're her king or whatever, got it?"
"Hai, Hai," Naruto replied picking himself up and dusting himself off, but with a smile on his face.
Rika rolled her eyes at Naruto. "Come on, grandma probably has some snacks ready for us." The female Tamer said walking off and Naruto following instep beside her. After a few minutes Rika decided to bring up something that had been on her mind since the day after she and Naruto had gotten together, "Whiskers?" She said drawing the teen's attention.
"Hm?"
"I want you to increase my training." The redhead stated bluntly. "I want to get stronger as soon as possible."
"Oh," Naruto said staring at Rika curiously but with a serious look in his eyes. "Why?" He asked her expectantly.
"When you got hurt by Sangloupmon I couldn't do anything, I froze." Rika admitted frustratingly. "You've been training us for weeks so that we could protect ourselves, so we'd be safe from any Digimon that tried to attack us, but when it finally happened I just stood there and you got hurt because of it!" The redhead shouted, angry at herself. "What is the point of all that training if we freeze when it matters most?" The female Tamer asked. "I want to get strong enough to keep that from happening, to protect the people I care about, and keep them from getting hurt." Rika stated with an' intensity in her eyes that surprised Naruto a little.
While pleasantly surprised by the strength of Rika's conviction to become stronger Naruto would admit that he was amazed by her and her desire to protect those who were precious to her, it was same thing that drove him after all. "Alright," Naruto said agreeably. "Though I'm not sure what more I can do right now. While you and the others have chakra, enough to enhance your bodies, it isn't enough to learn jutsu." He said, depressing Rika slightly if the way her face fell was any indication. "But I'll think of something." The shinobi promised her.
While not what Rika wanted to hear she accepted it none the less and the two Tamers continued walking toward Rika's home.
When Naruto eventually told the other Tamers his secret it was like Rika had predicted Takato and Henry didn't care about his status as the Kyuubi no Kitsune and more interested in what sort of powers it gave him. True to form Terriermon joked that soon they were going to be outnumbered by foxes. Renamon retorted that the little rabbit should watch himself in case Naruto or she got hungry as they had an easy source of food nearby, effectively shutting up the rabbit Digimon.
A week later Naruto sat at his desk in school as Ms. Asaji made an announcement to the entire class.
"Ok everyone listen' up," Ms. Asaji began drawing everyone's attention. "I want to be perfectly clear about the school trip so there are no misunderstandings like last year. We will be going camping for the weekend. That means that you can leave your blow-dryers, curling irons, basically anything that needs to be plugged-in at home. If I thought it was possible I would even suggest leaving your cellphones at home, but seeing as your all teenagers and pretty much have those things surgically attached to your hands I won't even bother. What I will recommend you bring is a change of clothes and bathing suits since there is a river nearby where we are camping that students from before like to swim in. The teachers will be keeping a close eye on all of you so don't even think of trying any funny business." She stated while glaring at her students. Of course even if she did warn them there would always be one or two students who thought they could outsmart their teachers and sneak off. Damn hormone crazy driven teenagers. "Anyway," Ms. Asaji continued, rubbing her temples as she felt the beginning of a potential headache. "The school will provide everyone with tents, sleeping bags, and food. My final piece of advice is to pack light, only bring what you need." The teacher finished just as the bell rang. After so many years of teaching she had pretty much perfected her timing to consist with when the bell would ring.
"So what's with this camping trip?" Naruto asked his two fellow Tamers after meeting up at the school's gate.
"Well for starters," Henry began with a smile on his face. "We have you to thank for the trip." The half-Chinese stated.
"Huh?" Naruto asked tilting his head to the side in confusion.
"The trip is sort of a reward to the year that made the most money during the school festival." Henry explained. "And thanks to you and the maid café our year easily won that."
"Yeah, thanks Naruto." Takato agreed with his friend cheerfully.
Naruto blinked a couple of times blankly. "But I wasn't even working for all that long." Naruto pointed out.
Takato and Henry both chuckled at that fact. "You're underestimating just how popular you are here." Henry told him while laughing.
Naruto wasn't all that convinced but decided to just accept it. "If you say so," The blonde shinobi said dubiously. "Anyway I want to meet up with Rika before she gets out of school so I have to get going if I'm going to make it." Naruto told them as the other two Tamers said their farewells to their blonde friend before they went their separate ways.
Rika walked out of her school at a slow gait a disinterested look on her face as she paid as little attention to the other girls around her as possible. And with how most of them did their best to ignore her as possible it wasn't all that hard for her to return the favor. A shout from the front gate not only made her perk up but also caused her to let out a sigh.
"RI-CHAN!"
Rika didn't even try to stop herself from face palming at Naruto's shout before dragging her hand down her face. "That idiot," The redhead muttered, spotting Naruto by the front gate waving frantically at her, though she sped up her pace to meet up with the cerulean eyed teen. Whether she would punch him or not for embarrassing her in such a way was still up for debate. That debate was settled the moment she got close enough to see Naruto's fox like grin and his eyes shining brightly. "What are you doing here?" She asked him instead, though she admonished herself for asking a question with such an obvious answer.
"I'm here to walk you home." Naruto said both obviously and obliviously.
Rika rolled her eyes at him but before she could even open her mouth to reply another girl's voice cut in.
"A-ano Naruto-San," The girl said.
Looking at her Naruto recognized the girl short cut black hair with a hair clip keeping a bang out of her face, glasses, and a slim figure having met her once before here at Rika's school but, "Who are you again?" Naruto asked sheepishly rubbing the back of his head, recognizing the girl but having forgotten her name. Rika snorted at Naruto's forgetfulness and did nothing to hide the fact that she thought it was funny he forgot the girl's name. (1)
"Miyuki Kasahara," Miyuki answered a bit awkwardly, a little off put that the blonde didn't remember her.
"Right," Naruto replied nodding his head once in acknowledgement. "What can I do for you Miyuki-Chan?" Naruto asked, not noticing how the glasses wearing girl blushed at the added suffix or how Rika glared at her boyfriend for it.
"W-w-well I-I w-was wondering if y-you'd like to go out with me." Miyuki said nervously at first before she gained confidence. "I know that this is out of the blue, but I've liked you since the first time I saw you and I'd really like to go out with you." The girl professed before sparring Rika a quick glance. "If you'd like then we could even go on a double date with Nonaka-San. I'm sure that I can find someone who would be willing to out with her." She claimed.
Naruto, while flattered, could only rub the back of his head uncomfortably, especially at the last part about going on a double date with Rika. "Um, that would be kind of awkward." Naruto stated, "Going on a double date with you and Rika is going with someone else."
"Why?" Miyuki asked not about to be discouraged so easily.
"Because I'm Naruto's girlfriend," Rika stated with a smirk on her face and her arms crossed.
"W-what?" Miyuki said disbelievingly, looking toward Naruto hoping that he would deny the redhead's claim only to see him nod his head in confirmation. Miyuki wasn't the only one who was having a hard time believing what they were hearing as several girls had been listening in on the trio's conversation and were now staring in stunned silence.
"You heard me. I'm Naruto's girlfriend." Rika repeated herself as she took Naruto's hand in hers. "So that will be a no to your little double date idea." The female Tamer finished before dragging Naruto away. 'Later bitch,' Rika thought. While Miyuki might act all shy around Naruto, Rika knew that the black haired girl was the same as a majority of the girls at her school a manipulative, shallow, bitch that mistreated anyone who wasn't part of the "in" crowd.
"What was that about?" Naruto asked Rika a few minutes later as they were approaching the amethyst eyed girl's home.
"Nothing, don't worry about it." Rika replied still having a firm hold on Naruto's hand. Rika wasn't big on public displays of affection, not being the sort of thing that she was used to, but small things like this, holding hands with Naruto, she didn't mind as much and actually enjoyed it. "Hey," She continued. "If we weren't dating would you consider going out with Miyuki?" The redhead questioned him, staring at him carefully.
Naruto blinked a couple of times before giving it some thought. Normally when a girl asked their boyfriend that type of question it was because they were being insecure and while Rika might at times second-guess herself she was never insecure about who she was. So Naruto answered honestly. "I don't think so." Naruto finally decided.
Rika raised an eyebrow at the blonde Tamer's answer, "Why not?" She asked him.
"Because the kind of girl that I like," Naruto began. "Has to have a fire to them that gives them the strength to stand on their own and face any challenge head on no matter how hard, and Ri-Chan's the only girl like that here." The blonde shinobi finished looking to Rika with a grin on his face.
"You're an idiot," Rika murmured but with a small smile on her face as she tugged on his hand and led him through the gate of her home. "We're home grandma!" Rika called, not even noticing she said "We're" instead of "I" when announcing their arrival.
Moments later Seiko appeared with a gentle smile on her face, taking a second to notice how Rika and Naruto were still holding hands before answering her granddaughter's greeting. "Welcome home you two." Seiko greeted the two teens warmly. "How was school?" She asked as she led them to the living room where she already had some snacks laid out for them and sat down on a couch.
"Same old same old," Rika replied dismissively as she took an apple off the table and sat down on another couch.
"I learned that my class will be going camping this weekend." Naruto replied taking a couple of cookies, and taking a seat beside Rika. He couldn't help himself Seiko's cookies were to delicious, besides it's not like he would get fat thanks to all the training that he did.
"Oh," Seiko said with a raised eyebrow her interest peeked. "That sounds like fun."
"Yup," Naruto agreed. "I can't wait." He added excitedly.
"So you'll be gone for the entire weekend." Rika reiterated a little unhappily. While the redhead wasn't about to become one of those clingy girls that wanted to spend every second of the day with their boyfriend the fact that Naruto would be gone all weekend long meant that she wouldn't have anyone to hang out with and would most likely spend the weekend bored at home.
Seiko seeing the mood that her granddaughter was in immediately thought of something that would definitely cheer her up. "Naruto-Kun," Seiko began drawing the shinobi's attention. "Do you mind stopping by here before going on your trip on Saturday?" The grandmother of one asked.
Naruto looked at Seiko confused but nodded his head anyway. "Sure, but why?" He asked her.
"Oh no reason in particular," Seiko replied as she stood up from her seat. "If you two will excuse me there is a call I just remembered I have to make." She said as she exited the room.
The two teens watched her leave before looking at each other both wondering what had just happened.
"Rika, Rika wake up." Seiko urged her granddaughter gently.
"Grandma," Rika replied sluggishly as she returned to the waking world. Looking at her cellphone Rika noted that it was early, way too early for a teenager to be awake on a Saturday morning. "What is it?" She asked rubbing the sleep from her eyes and letting out a cute yawn, though there were few who would inform her of that.
"You should get dressed Naruto-Kun should be here soon." The grandmother informed her as she laid out her granddaughter's clothes beside her.
"What? Why?" Rika asked still not fully awake.
"So that you can go on that camping trip with him," Seiko answered as she placed a backpack filled with a few things that she had packed for the camping trip that she believed Rika would need.
That woke Rika up as her head snapped to her grandmother, "What?! But how am I supposed to go if it's a school trip and I'm not enrolled there?!" Rika questioned her grandmother.
"Oh I have my ways." Seiko replied with a knowing smile on her face. "Now get ready and I'll explain once Naruto gets here." Seiko insisted as she exited the room to give her daughter some privacy.
About ten minutes later Naruto stood outside the Nonaka home knocking on the front gate. It was only seconds later that the gate was opened to reveal Seiko with her usual smile on her face, though there was more mirth in her eyes than normal. "Good morning Seiko-Obaachan," Naruto greeted before a questioning look crossed his face. "Why did you want me to stop by before I left?" He asked her curiously.
"Oh I just wanted you and Rika to walk to the school together before you both headed out on your camping trip." Seiko revealed as Rika joined them, still looking as confused as she had been before but carrying the bag that her grandmother had left in her room.
It took a couple of moments before what Seiko said registered in Naruto's mind and when it did his reaction was probably predictable, "EH?!" Naruto uttered looking between the two women wildly. "What do you mean?"
"Yeah grandma you still haven't explained how you got permission for me to go with Fishcake on the camping trip." Rika stated as she waited for her grandmother to explain herself.
Seiko laughed a bit before answering. "Do you two remember that phone call I had to make a couple days ago?" She asked them and got twin nods in reply. "Well I was contacting an old friend of mine." Seiko informed them before she told them of the call she made.
Flashback
In the hallway Seiko made sure to take extra care that she wouldn't be overheard by Rika or Naruto and ruin the surprise she had planned as she dialed the number of an old friend of hers.
"Hello? Shinjuku Private School for Girls this is Principal Suzumiya speaking." An elderly female voice answered from the other end of the line.
Seiko's smile widened just the tiniest bit at the sound of her old friend's voice, "Yuuki? It's Seiko Hata." Seiko started.
"Seiko?" The woman on the other end repeated as recognition dawned on her, "Seiko! It's been a while since we've last talked, how have you been?" Suzumiya asked.
"I'm doing well," Seiko replied. "But the reason I called is to call in a favor that you old me." The grandmother of one informed her friend.
"I see how it is," Suzumiya began. "I don't hear from you in a while and when you finally do call it's to remind me of favor I owe you." The principal to Rika's school stated, though by the tone of her voice Seiko knew that the one was only joking with her. "So what can I do for you?" Suzumiya asked good-naturedly.
"Actually I'm hoping that you can help out my granddaughter." Seiko amended.
"Rika," Suzumiya murmured her voice losing some of its cheer. "Seiko I hope you aren't calling to get your granddaughter some sort of special treatment here at the school or to improve her grades." Suzumiya said seriously. "Though from what I understand she is doing quite well in class, not the most social girl in the school but a good student none the less."
"No nothing like that Yuuki," Seiko assured her friend. "Though I guess it depends on what your definition of special treatment is. I was hoping you might be able to pull some strings and help Rika go on the camping trip that public high school is going on this weekend."
"Tetsuo's school?" Yuuki reiterated confusedly thinking of the principal of the public school. "I got some blackmail on him from a while back that can see that happening, but why? I didn't think that Rika was the camping type and why go through all this trouble?" She asked curiously.
"Rika has recently started to date a boy by the name of Naruto Uzumaki." Seiko began.
"Naruto Uzumaki?" Suzumiya repeated interestedly, "Blonde hair, blue eyes, and whiskers on his cheeks?" She questioned.
Seiko blinked a couple times in surprise. "You've met him?" She asked.
"No," Yuuki replied. "But he sure has been causing a stirring among my girls."
Seiko laughed a bit, she remembered that she had caught her granddaughter grumbling about the other girls at her school on occasion in regards to Naruto. "Well besides being her boyfriend Naruto is also the first real friend that Rika has had in a long time. He's brought out a part of her I was beginning to think I would never see again, and am incredibly grateful for. That's why I'd like Rika to go on the trip, so that she can spend more time around Naruto, make more friends, and just be a normal girl." Seiko explained passionately.
"I see," Suzumiya murmured. "That definitely explains some of the reports from the teachers I've been getting on Rika. Nothing bad," The principal assured. "It's just that they noticed things, small things, in the way she acted that was different from the way that they were used to. If having her attend that trip supports those changes then I'd be happy to do it. Plus I think it's absolutely adorable that little Rika has a boyfriend now." The woman finished, gushing at the end.
"Thank you Yuuki, I'll call you again soon." Seiko promised.
"I'll hold you to that." Suzumiya replied. "I want to hear more about this boy your granddaughter is dating and is causing such a ruckus at my school." She stated before ending the call.
End Flashback
Naruto stared at Seiko a little disbelievingly while Rika had her face in her hand, as the grandmother simply smiled at the two teens.
"Please tell me you didn't really gossip my relationship with Whiskers with my principal grandma." Rika practically begged her grandmother. "How did you even know that we were dating?" The redhead questioned.
Seiko hummed for a second. "I meant to keep that part to myself until you told me," Seiko mused to herself before focusing on her granddaughter. "You two weren't all that' subtle dear and didn't separate quickly enough at times before I caught you." She informed them and then focused her entire attention on Naruto. "I trust that, that is as far as things have gone between you two?" Seiko asked in an overly sweet voice, further embarrassing her granddaughter.
"Yes ma'am!" Naruto yelped at the frightening aura that Seiko was giving off. The former Jinchuuriki had faced off against S-class criminals and yet they seemed to pale in comparison to Seiko at that moment.
"That's good," Seiko said in her normal tone of voice. "Now I think you two should hurry along now or you'll miss your buss." She told them, saying her goodbyes to the two teens before reentering her home.
The two Tamers spared each other a glance before Naruto shrugged his shoulders and held out his hand to Rika. Taking it with a little hesitance Rika and Naruto began the short journey to the blonde shinobi's school only to stop a few minutes later.
"This seems like a good as spot as any." Naruto said out loud, as he looked around to make sure that no one else was around, much to Rika's confusion.
"What are you talking about?" Rika questioned Naruto.
Naruto grinned at Rika before calling out for his two' partner Digimon. "Hey Coronamon, Patamon you two can come out now." He said before continuing after a moment. "Renamon you should join as well." The shinobi decided.
The three Digimon came out of hiding, Coronamon and Patamon appearing next to their Tamer while Renamon appeared behind Rika.
"Ok Fishcake what's going on?" Rika asked once more.
Naruto grin just became the tiniest bit wider as he picked up Coronamon, much to the small lion Digimon's protest, and handed him to Rika to hold. "Here," He said.
"And what are am I supposed to do with him?" Rika asked looking down at the Digimon, who had a displeased look on his face.
"Hold on," Naruto said as Patamon landed on his head, before turning his attention towards Renamon. "Will you be able to keep up with the buses as he we head to the camp grounds?" The shinobi asked.
"Of course," Renamon answered, sounding a little offended at the suggestion that she wouldn't be able to.
Naruto gave her a fox grin before focusing back to Rika, who one of her eyebrows was twitching at having her questions constantly ignored by Naruto. "Takato, Henry, and I thought it was a good idea to give the Digimon a little break and we're using the camping trip as a chance to let them relax." Naruto began. "We just needed a way to sneak them on the bus." He stated.
Rika raised an eyebrow in question. "And what did you all decide?" She asked him.
Naruto just grinned mischievously at Rika, "You'll see." He teased her as he started walking again towards his school. "Now come on we're going to be late." Naruto urged his girlfriend.
"What the fuck is this?" Rika asked bluntly, not even paying attention to how Takato managed to sneak Guilmon onto the bus with a half-assed plan that shouldn't have worked. No what captured the female Tamer's complete and utter attention was an entire year group of high school students carrying stuffed animals either in their arms or in their backpacks.
Naruto chuckled at her expression as he led her toward where Henry was standing, looking at Takato's successful plan with an amused smile on his face while Terriermon who was hanging off his shoulder did his best to suppress his giggles. When the half-Chinese Tamer noticed Naruto and Rika's approach he also noticed the dumbfounded look on Rika's face as she gazed at all the other students and immediately knew what he was thinking.
"Strange right?" He asked her, looking out toward his classmates.
"That's one word for it." Rika muttered, "Why are they all carrying stuffed animals like it was normal?" She asked.
"I came up with the idea to hide the Digimon." Naruto claimed almost proudly.
Rika stared at her boyfriend blankly, though his claim did nothing to explain how he got it to happen it explained the craziness of seeing a bunch of teens with stuffed animals.
Seeing the look that Rika was giving Naruto, Henry did his best to explain. "We had to come up with a way to get Terriermon and the others to come with us on the bus without bringing attention to ourselves." The computer genius began. "Naruto thought that we could do that by getting everyone else to bring stuffed animals on the camping trip too."
Rika didn't think it was necessary to point out that that still didn't explain how Naruto got that to happen. Luckily Henry continued with his explanation.
"And with how popular Naruto is here," Henry continued with a shrug of his shoulders. "A few words from him and how he was going to bring a stuffed animal with him had the girls choosing to do the same thing. The boys soon decided to do the same thing hoping to draw the girls' attention."
"Well that's stupid." Rika decided.
The two teens and Terriermon both laughed but couldn't help but silently agree with the girl. "You underestimate just how popular Naruto is." Henry commented.
"Yup," Terriermon agreed. "I'm surprised they haven't started clubs after our fearless leader here, one for the girls to admire him in and another for guys to hate him." The rabbit eared Digimon joked.
"Ha, ha," Naruto laughed sarcastically at the Digimon's joke.
"Like Naruto needs a bigger head." Coronamon muttered only to have his Tamer discreetly, yet strongly, bop him on the head.
"Alright everyone," Ms. Asaji called, drawing the Tamer's attention. "Everyone needs to board the busses now; we will be leaving in just a few minutes." She stated.
"Well I better get going." Henry said as he left to board the bus for his class.
"Come on Ri-Chan," Naruto said as he led the girl over to his teacher.
Ms. Asaji was watching carefully as all the students boarded the busses that they were assigned to making sure none of them brought anything they weren't supposed to, completely unaware of what happened earlier with Takato and how he manage to sneak Guilmon on the bus, when she noticed Naruto walking towards her with the redheaded girl he dedicated a song to on the day of the school festival. "Naruto," Ms. Asaji greeted her, arguably, favorite student. "And Miss. Nonaka I believe?" She asked getting a nod from the girl. Flipping through a few papers that she had on a clipboard with her the teacher eventually stopped and then looked toward the girl. "Alright, we've been given a notice by the principal that you'd be joining us on our trip this weekend. I don't know how you did it, but that really isn't my concern. Now since you were added at the last minute we don't have anyone you can share a tent with so you'll have one for yourself. It was suggested that you share a tent with Naruto since he's not sharing with anyone either, but I think we all knew that was never going to happen. Your tent will also be set next to mine so that I can keep an eye on you during this trip." Ms. Asaji explained, choosing to ignore the fact that the girl had a stuffed animal with her like every other student, well except one who thought it was a good idea to bring a real animal with him. What an idiot.
"Fine," Rika grunted out in acceptance.
Ms. Asaji's eyebrow twitched at the girl's response but didn't let it bother her; she had to deal with teenagers nearly every day for years now one girl with a bit of an attitude wasn't going to get to her.
Getting on the bus Naruto and Rika spotted of open seats near the back of the bus next to Takato's group of friends. Looking closer they noted that Takato and the rest were sitting on top of Guilmon concealing him from Ms. Asaji, who climbed on the bus after making sure all the other students had gotten on the bus.
"What are you doing here?" Kazu asked rather rudely as he stared at Rika.
"Not that we aren't happy to see you Rika." Takato added rather hastily seeing the looks that both Naruto and Rika were sending his visor wearing friend.
Rika rolled her eyes as she took her seat by the window while Naruto took the one next to her. "My grandmother got me on the trip." She replied evenly.
"Seiko-San," Takato repeated thinking about the friendly woman that he had met that one time and wondering what kind of connections the woman had, his imagination coming up with the idea of a bunch of grannies that were part of some sort of yakuza group. "That's kind of cool." The Virus Tamer muttered. "Or is it scary." He rethought at the end.
A few minutes later the buses took off and after a few quick announcements from Ms. Asaji everyone settled down for the long trip. After a couple of hours Ms. Asaji and some students, including Naruto and Rika, started to nod off, Ms. Asaji using earplugs to block out any noise that her students would make and let her rest. The two Tamers sleeping peacefully with their heads resting against one another drew jealous looks from most of the girls and ones of hope from the boys at the chance that they starting getting some of the girls' attention.
Naruto and Rika, and a whole bunch of other students were eventually woken up by the horrible screeching that someone was trying to pass off as singing.
"What the fuck?!" Naruto cursed as he was rudely woken up, holding his ears in an effort to dampen the singing.
"Who is making that horrible racket?" Rika asked, mimicking her boyfriend and putting her hands against her ears. It didn't take much to spot Kenta at the front of the bus singing into the mic that Ms. Asaji was using earlier to make her announcements. It also didn't escape either of the Tamers' notice that the only people who actually seemed to enjoy, and actually encourage, Kenta's singing was the small group of friends behind them consisting of Takato, Kazu, Guilmon, and a couple of other boys.
Not being able to take the horrible noise anymore, sometimes it sucked to have better senses than anyone else, Naruto shot out of his seat strode toward Kenta and snatched the mic out of his hand. A few seconds is all it took for the glasses wearing teen to realize he was no longer holding onto the mic before he opened his eyes and blinked in confusion as he stared at Naruto who was now holding the mic. Without a second thought Naruto opened a nearby window and tossed the mic out, it landing outside and miraculously not being destroyed by the other buses. Turning back to Kenta, Naruto had a blank even look on his face. "Never do that again, ever." The blonde shinobi advised seriously.
"Aww come on man I was totally rocking that." Kenta whined a little.
"No, you really weren't." Naruto replied in a deadpan, too much cheering from the other students that didn't like Kenta's singing. This marked the first time that both boys and girls were genuinely glad that the whiskered teen attended their school. Turning around Naruto's gaze landed on Guilmon and the shinobi finally realized that he was out in the open, where anyone could see him. And judging by the fact that none of the students looked at all surprised or confused by Guilmon's presence the red raptor Digimon had been out for a while. "Takato," Naruto muttered loud enough for the Virus Tamer to hear him, as he stalked closer to the brunette.
"Uh, yeah?" Takato replied nervously.
"What happened to keeping Guilmon a secret?" Naruto asked.
"Oh," Takato murmured, realizing what had the Tamers' unofficial leader ticked, "Uh, oops?" He said unsurely not knowing what else could be said.
"Once we get back I'm going to make your training extra hard." Naruto stated causing Takato to hang his head in despair.
When Ms. Asaji was woken up when the buses arrived at the camping grounds she found herself not only with the headache that she had been desperately trying to avoid but, if possible, it was actually worse than it could have been since someone threw the mic, equipment belonging to the school, out of a moving bus and no one was willing to tell her who it was. 'I don't get paid enough for this.' The high school teacher thought as she took out her bottle of aspirin bottle only to find it empty, 'Why me?' She thought miserably before she spotted her colleague, and the last man she'd ever go out with, Mr. Mori. "Have any aspirin, Mori?" She asked somewhat hopefully. "I'm all out."
"No," The man replied, inwardly crowing at the fact that his crush was talking to him of her' own volition. "But I have some franks and beans. They're good for what ails ya." He said trying to come off as smooth and be the gallant hero. He failed, miserably.
"Well there goes my headache." Ms. Asaji said with a sigh, walking away from glasses wearing man to watch over her students as they set up their tents.
Mr. Mori seeing his crush walk away looked around desperately for something he could impress her with when he spotted some of the students struggling to set up their tents. "Here let me help you with that." Mr. Mori said as he rushed to some of the students, some of Ms. Asaji's students the bespectacled man realized with an internal grin, aid. "Alright everyone gather round and I'll show you all how to set up your tents real quick." The teacher called.
Naruto looked at the man that was supposed to be Henry's teacher as he frantically tried set up the date but by the look of confusion on his face and how he was becoming increasingly frustrated with his lack of success it was obvious that he wasn't the type of guy that went camping regularly. And by the way he kept looking towards Ms. Asaji it was kind of obvious why he was doing it. "You know," Naruto started casually. "Most women aren't really impressed by a guy pitching a tent." The shinobi finished getting a mortified look from Mr. Mori and snickers from the students that happened to be close enough to hear the blonde, even Ms. Asaji looked like she was trying to contain her laughter.
Rika, who was standing next to her boyfriend, didn't even try to reprimand Naruto for his joke at the teacher's expense. And why would she when she also thought it was funny.
Without much more fanfare the students set up their tents, with Ms. Asaji making sure that Rika's was close to hers so that she could keep a close eye on the redhead, but far enough away that Rika would have some privacy. Afterwards they broke into groups in order to enjoy the lunches provided by the school and whatever snacks that the students had brought for themselves, the Tamers and a small group of those who knew about Digimon, including Kazu, Kenta, Jeri, moving further away so that their Digimon could come out of hiding or stop acting like stuffed animals. Naruto, Rika, and Takato along with their Digimon were a little surprised that Calumon had hitched a ride on Henry's bus, but Naruto figured it was to be expected since the little guy would have definitively found a way onto the trip once he heard about it.
"Here guys try some of my rice balls." Kazu offered holding out the food to the gathered Digimon, who beside Renamon who was sitting up on one of the trees were surrounded by excited High school students.
"You can have some of mine too if you want." Kenta said offering some food as well.
"I made some sandwiches at my family's shop that you can try." Jeri added with a pleasant smile on her face and a boxed lunch full of sandwiches in her hands. All the other students soon offered their own food to the Digimon, Naruto's fan-girls paying extra attention to Patamon and Coronamon in an effort to get on Naruto's good side.
"Hold on guys," Takato said stopping everyone from pushing their food on the Digimon. "They can't possibly eat all that, they'll get sick." He stated before looking at his Digimon who was eyeing the food hungrily. "Or in Guilmon's case as big as a house, if that happens he'll never fit in his shed."
Guilmon looked away from the food presented to him to stare at his Tamer; his ears lowered slightly, "Your mean Takato." The red raptor said pitifully.
"And you're a glutton Guilmon." Takato shot back the staring each other down trying to make the other back down first.
"I say let him be. The way that Guilmon eats I don't think he can get full." Coronamon spoke up; the small lion Digimon taking some of the food that Naruto's fan-girls were offering him. "These are so good!" Coronamon cheered. "Try some Naruto." The Digimon suggested to him Tamer.
Naruto's fan-girls grew excited at the prospect of their crush trying some of the food they prepared and pushed to have him try some before each other. Seeing he was being surrounded by the over eager girls Naruto tried to think of something to get him out of the situation. Luckily he was saved before things got ugly, i.e. before Rika started throwing punches or insults at the girls trying to make a move on her boyfriend.
"If you keep eating like that," Renamon's sensual voice came from above them, drawing their attention to the yellow furred fox on the tree branch above them. "Then you are never going to beat me during a spar." The kitsune Digimon taunted.
Coronamon glared up at Renamon as he dropped the food that he had been eating. "What was that?!" The Vaccine type Digimon demanded. "I can beat you anytime and anywhere!" Coronamon declared heatedly.
Renamon just smirked down at Coronamon before looking away with her head in the air, serving to piss off Coronamon all the more at how dismissive she was being at his claim.
"That's enough you two," Naruto intervened before Coronamon started throwing around fireballs. "We're on vacation, no fighting." The shinobi told them, causing Coronamon to huff and grumble softly.
While no one was looking Rika managed to send her partner a grateful smile due to the fact that the kitsune Digimon managed to derail the fan-girls' plan to get Naruto's attention. A small vindictive part of her especially enjoyed the look on the girl's face whose food Coronamon dropped during the lion's small confrontation with Renamon.
A few hours later the Tamers and their Digimon managed to sneak away from the other students and teachers so that the Digimon didn't have to hide from the teachers and, the fewer, students that didn't know about the Digimon and really enjoy their short vacation.
"Is this really okay?" Takato asked worriedly. "Just leaving like that?"
"Its fine," Naruto assured his friend, "The others said they would cover for us with Ms. Asaji and the other teachers." The blonde shinobi reminded the brunette. "Besides it wouldn't be much of a vacation for Patamon, Coronamon, and the others if they had to be on alert all the time and make sure they weren't seen." He added.
"Naruto's right Takato, we're supposed to be relaxing." Henry said agreeing with Naruto. "Besides just think about it if we hadn't have left we would have never seen that happy little totem pole." He finished looking to were most of the Digimon' were stacked on top of each other.
"I guess you have a point there." Takato relented looking to the other Digimon a smile on his face. With the exception of Renamon, who had a little too much dignity to be part of it, the Digimon did their best to balance themselves and preserve their "totem pole". At the totem pole's base was Guilmon managing to do a handstand with a single arm on a piece of wood at the end of the bridge that they were crossing, next was Coronamon who was also doing a handstand but was trying not to topple over as he held onto Guilmon's wiggling tail. Standing on Coronamon's feet was Patamon, wiggling his ears every once in a while ready for a quick escape in case they started to fall over, on top of him was Terriermon one of his long ears placed on top of Patamon's head with the other stretched out to the side. Finally at the very top balanced on one of Terriermon's feet with one of his own was Calumon arms stretched out wide and ears extend striking a cute little pose.
"Guilmon hold still." Coronamon said trying to keep his balance.
"I can't," Guilmon replied. "Your hand is tickling my tail."
"Well Patamon's wings are tickling my ear." Terriermon informed the others as he tried to suppress his giggles. Patamon refrained from saying anything in return, but he did start to flap his ears a bit quicker and nearly causing Terriermon to lose his self-control.
"I want to tickle something." Calumon said pouted, though he couldn't hold it for long before he started to smile again.
Naruto watched the scene in front of him with his own smile on his face as he took out his cell phone to take a picture of the perfect moment. That moment came a few seconds later as the Digimon totem pole started to topple over, Naruto managing to take a picture of them before they fell, as they were falling, and as they lay on the ground in a heap with the exception of Calumon and Patamon who both managed to get air born before falling.
Amidst the groans of pain and discomfort coming from Guilmon, Coronamon, and Terriermon there was also laughter coming from the Tamers and the other Digimon. Their laughter was cut short when their D-arcs started to go off.
"A Digimon," Rika said being the quickest to grab her D-arc. "So much for our vacation. We should go check it out." She decided.
Takato nodded his head in agreement and was about to call out to Guilmon only to be stopped by Henry. "Wait," The half-Chinese Tamer said. "From the signal the Digimon looks small so why don't we just leave it alone. I mean why ruin their fun?" He asked looking toward the other Digimon who started to laugh as well once they had recovered from their fall. "And besides how much trouble could one small Digimon be?" Henry finished inquiringly.
"You do have a point." Takato commented not wanting to ruin Guilmon's or the others fun and relaxation because of one Digimon.
"Are you two stupid?" Rika questioned the two Tamers angrily, but kept her voice in a whisper. "We leave that Digimon alone and who knows what trouble it might cause later." She said.
"Rika's right," Naruto said, agreeing with his girlfriend. "We should check it out now before it becomes a problem later." He said decisively before continuing. "But the Digimon are supposed to be relaxing, so I'll just check out myself and come back."
"You shouldn't go alone Whiskers." Rika argued with a glare pointed at her boyfriend.
"I'll be fine." Naruto tried to reassure her, and while Rika knew he was telling the truth she wasn't about give up that easily.
"Renamon," Rika called her partner's name drawing the kitsune Digimon's attention to her. "Go with Fishcake and make sure nothing happens to him." She instructed.
Renamon nodded her head once, "Understood Rika." She said before looking to Naruto waiting for when they set out.
"Renamon doesn't need to come to protect me; I'll be fine on my own." The blonde shinobi insisted.
"Don't even bother trying to argue with me because I'm not changing my mind." Rika retorted as she crossed her arms over her chest staring at her boyfriend straight in the eye.
Naruto held Rika's gaze for a few seconds longer before giving in and letting out a sigh at her stubbornness. 'Well I can't say that I dislike that side of her,' Naruto thought with a smile crossing his face. "Fine," Naruto relented. "We'll be right back. Come on Renamon." The shinobi said before disappearing in a burst of speed with Renamon right behind him not a moment after.
With a sigh Rika looked at the two other Tamers before walking completely past them. "Well we might as well keep on hiking a little longer before heading back." She said as she tried to think of something that she could tell Coronamon and Patamon for their Tamer's absence.
Jumping through the trees Naruto took a moment to enjoy the sensation that he has missed for the last several months, the freedom of being a to go all out as he raced through the trees and felt the wind on his face and through his hair. Well, not all out if he went at his top speed Naruto knew that Renamon wouldn't be able to keep up with him. "We're getting closer." Naruto informed the yellow furred kitsune following him, noticing how the signal strength was getting stronger.
"And what do we do once we find it." Renamon asked the neo-Kyuubi.
"First we'll figure out who it is and then what they are doing here." Naruto decided. Their current location was way out of the way and nowhere near the city so it was possible that the Digimon was friendly and didn't mean any harm.
A few minutes later the two came to a stop and landed on the ground and started looking around with Renamon spotting the bioemerged Digimon first since she was able to sense its presence. "There," She pointed out.
Naruto looked to where Renamon was pointing a spotted a Digimon that seemed to be a mix between a chicken and a turkey staring off into the distance. The Digimon had golden colored feathers but with a round blue metal body with some writing on its lower half. It had red talons, an orange scarf, and on its back was an item that had three prongs at both ends. Lifting up his D-arc Naruto began to scan the Digimon. "Its name is Sinduramon, Ultimate level." Naruto started before his eyes widened just a fraction at the next bit of information. "And he's a Deva so I guess that means him being friendly won't be likely. His attacks are Positron Pulse and Bǎo Chǔ." The blonde Tamer finished reading.
"Are you sure that guy is a Deva. It doesn't look like much." Renamon said doubtfully looking at how small the Digimon was for an ultimate, then again there were some Mega level Digimon that were even smaller than it.
"That's what the D-arc says." Naruto replied also looking a little doubtful. "Either way we have to take care of it now before it can escape and cause trouble." The shinobi said before taking out some kunai and throwing them at the digital chicken.
Sinduramon had noticed Naruto's and Renamon's arrival earlier but decided to watch them carefully before attacking, so when it saw the blonde human pull out some knives and throw them at him the Deva flew into the air to avoid them. It then watched the kitsune Digimon jump after it with a kick aimed at its chest but, like Naruto, Renamon was also evaded.
"Dodge this!" Sinduramon heard from behind him. Turning its head as best it could Sinduramon spotted the human at equal height with it with a sphere of energy in its hand, "Rasengan!" Naruto shouted thrusting his father's original jutsu at Sinduramon's back.
Naruto had a smirk on his face as he aimed the Rasengan at Sinduramon with the close distance and the fact that he caught the Digimon by surprise the shinobi was positive that he'd land a hit. So it came as a surprise to him when Sinduramon disappeared from his line of sight and his attack missed.
Naruto landed back on the ground with Renamon landing beside him shortly after. "He's fast." The female kitsune Digimon commented.
"I've noticed." Naruto said back spotting Sinduramon perched on another tree with electricity cackling off the object on his back.
"Positron Pulse," The chicken Digimon called unleashing small bolts of lightning at its opponents.
It was now the two blondes turn to move away but even as they did so they noticed how weak the attack appeared and after just using it for a short time Sinduramon seemed to be winded.
"How is this guy a Deva?" Naruto wondered out loud, it was fast but it hardly had any attack power and it didn't matter how fast it was if it couldn't land a fatal blow on its enemy.
As if in response to that remark from Naruto, Sinduramon let out a terrible screech as it gave out a pulse of energy. Naruto and Renamon were on guard expecting some sort of sound based attack but after a few seconds of nothing happening they soon relaxed.
"Maybe it doesn't have enough energy to continue fighting?" Renamon suggested, although slight miffed at the lack of any real fight, perfectly alright with the possibility of ending things quickly. She did enjoy doing other things besides fighting as well after all, not to mention that Rika wouldn't be happy if Naruto was somehow hurt. Though Renamon thought her partner was worrying needlessly considering whom her boyfriend was and the power he held.
"Maybe," Naruto said not sounding so sure before he heard something faintly. "Wait do you hear that?" He asked Renamon as the sound grew stronger and as it did so Naruto started to recognize it, he should after all it was a sound he was intimately familiar with. "It sounds like wings flapping," The shinobi continued looking behind Sinduramon where the sound was coming from, "A lot of them." He finished.
From the darkening forest hundreds of birds of all sizes and species flew at Naruto and Renamon their eyes glowing' a bright red. Being swarmed by the flock of birds the two did their best not to have their eyes pecked out as they tried to swat all the birds away, Sinduramon using the opportunity he created to escape the two so he could gather enough electricity before he started his attack in earnest.
"We have to get out of here!" Naruto said loudly in order for Renamon to be able to hear him with all the chirping that the birds were causing, another sound he wasn't fond of. While either Renamon or he could use an attack or jutsu to scare the birds away the fact that their eyes were glowing suggested they wouldn't quit that easily and Naruto wasn't in any hurry to be covered by blood. It would be kind of hard to explain to the teachers how that happened in a way that wouldn't have him either taken to the hospital, a mental hospital being a very real possibility, or thrown in jail.
Taking Renamon's paw in his hand the shinobi and Digimon disappeared in a burst of speed, the birds being thrown around by the winds created by Naruto's taking off, the birds returning to normal soon after without their targets anywhere in sight and Sinduramon not commanding them to search for them.
"What happened to you two?" Takato asked. The sun having set and the Tamers and the other Digimon looking at Shinjuku off in the distance and admiring the illuminated city and the brunette Tamer noticing Naruto and Renamon's messy appearance once they arrived.
"I'll tell you later." Naruto replied before continuing. "But you should know that that Digimon from earlier turned out to be a Deva." He informed them getting their complete and utter attention at that bit of information.
"We're you able to take care of it." Rika asked looking Naruto up and down for any obvious sign of injury.
"No," Naruto answered. "The chicken bastard pulled off a cheap trick and got away." He told them. "But it was very weak so it shouldn't be a problem if we see it again." He assured them, with Renamon nodding her head in confirmation.
The others accepted what Naruto had to say and soon they all returned to enjoying the view, Naruto's appearance only drawing curious looks from his own Digimon before shrugging it off.
"Hey guys," Henry spoke up breaking the silence. "I was thinking how about taking some photographs and commemorating the occasion." The resident computer genius suggested.
"Great idea Henry," Naruto said before looking towards Takato. "You wouldn't happen to actually have some film for that camera you brought would you?" He asked.
"Well about that," Takato began rubbing the back of his head sheepishly, "It's actually a digital camera so it doesn't need film, but I sort of forgot to charge it before we left." He explained with an embarrassed' laugh.
"Way to go Goggle-head." Rika sighed.
Naruto chuckled a bit at his friend as he pulled out his cell phone. "Thank god for cell phones, huh?" He asked no one in particular as he created a Shadow clone and handed it the camera.
Each of the Tamer proceeded to take a photo with their respective Digimon with Shinjuku acting as a background before they took pictures with one another. Through most of the pictures that Rika was a part of she had an uninterested look on her face despite what Takato or Henry said, but once the redhead was taking a picture with her boyfriend a small smile appeared on her face. That smile remained on her face even when Naruto pulled her in close, planted a kiss on her cheek, and the clone took the picture. The outcome was Naruto with an arm around Rika's waist pressing a kiss to her cheek while the female Tamer had a smile on her face accompanied by her eyes being slightly wider than normal and a light blush on her cheeks. Then a picture was taken of just the Digimon followed by a picture of just the Tamers.
The final picture of the night was a group picture of everyone. At the center was Guilmon and Takato, the brunette kneeling slightly so he was about even height with Guilmon. To Guilmon's left was Henry with Terriermon hanging off his shoulder as usual, the rabbit like Digimon waving at the camera. Above Takato and Guilmon was Calumon floating in the air with a cheerful smile on his face. To Takato's right were Naruto and Rika with Naruto's arm once more around the amtheyst eyed girl's waist as she leaned in closer to her boyfriend while Naruto's other hand was flashing the camera a thumbs up, both Tamers had smiles on their faces though in Naruto's case it was his fox like grin. Renamon stood slightly behind the pair her height making it easy not to be obscured by the couple in front of her. Though it was hard to tell the vixen Digimon had the smallest of smiles on her face. Coronamon stood in front of his Tamer and his girlfriend with his arms crossed over his chest and a smirk on his face while Patamon flew near his Tamer's head with a smile on his face.
And just for kicks the Shadow clone took a second picture of the group shot except it made sure to insert itself in front of the camera hiding the others slightly.
"Today was fun." Naruto said out loud, the others agreeing with his statement.
"So," Guilmon started. "When do we eat?" The raptor Digimon asked focusing on one the most important things for almost all Digimon. The others laughed at Guilmon's childish question only to laugh even harder when Guilmon and Calumon repeated the question seconds later simultaneously.
As they were leaving they never noticed that Shinjuku suddenly went dark and completely unaware that a certain Digimon was draining all the electricity from the city.
"They can't actually like this." Rika muttered to her boyfriend as she looked to the other students while they were all listening to Mr. Mori tell a "ghost story" around a campfire as they had their dinner.
"I don't think they are." Naruto replied softly taking a closer look at the other students and seeing how their eyes were dropping. "I think his story is putting them to sleep." He told her honestly.
Rika snorted slightly, "That I can believe." She said with a smirk on her face. The two Tamers conversation was cut short when Mr. Mori suddenly started to scream causing them to jump in surprise and the other students who had been put half to sleep by the man's story to scream in fear as well. A lot of girls tried to use this opportunity to jump into Naruto's arms only for Rika get in their way and growl at them to back off making a few of them to start arguing with the redhead.
"There's that headache again." Ms. Asaji muttered to herself as she tried to sooth the migraine that sprung up on her because of all the screaming.
The next day the students and teachers were swimming at a nearby river the teachers keeping a close eye on their students with the exception of Ms. Asaji who was doing her best to ignore Mr. Mori's advances and offers to put sunblock on her. With a little subterfuge the Tamers were once more able break away from the main group and moved further up the river so that their Digimon could also swim freely in the river.
"Hey! Do we still have to be quiet!?" Guilmon shouted his question as he, Terriermon, Calumon, and Patamon stood on top of a tree branch over the river.
Henry smiled exasperatedly at the dinosaur Digimon, "Nope! You can be as loud as you want to out here." He answered.
Takato chuckled a bit at his partner's antics. "Yeah, even as loud as you just were." Takato told Guilmon lightheartedly glad to see the Digimon so excited and carefree. Without a second thought the Digimon all jumped into a river causing the water to splash everywhere and soak the two Tamers. "Hey!" The brunette shouted incredulously, while Henry just laughed it off.
Hearing no complaints coming from the two remaining Tamers Takato turned to where he had last seen them only to come across an interesting sight, which Takato wasn't sure if he should laugh at or look away for the sake of his own safety. Like Henry and him, Naruto was also wearing some swim trunks, unsurprisingly they were orange, but what had the Virus Tamer slightly apprehensive for his immediate future was the look that the blonde shinobi was giving the only female Tamer, or more precisely the fact that the shinobi couldn't take his eyes off her.
"What? Are you going to stare at me all day Fishcake?" Rika asked embarrassed but enjoying the attention that her boyfriend was giving her.
"I'm thinking about it." Naruto admitted seriously.
"Baka," Rika muttered softly. The girl wasn't wearing a swimsuit that was revealing or suggestive, it was light blue the bottom half being simple shorts while the top went over her upper torso unlike the traditional bikini and tied around the back of her neck. But to the last Uzumaki his girlfriend looked hotter than ever.
For his own sake Takato looked away as quickly as possible or risk bodily harm from either of them.
From behind a nearby tree Coronamon stared at the water with narrowed eyes, as if he expected the water to suddenly start to attack him.
"What's the matter kitty?" Renamon questioned as she sat a tree branch above Coronamon, legs crossed, looking down at the dark orange furred Digimon, "Afraid to get a little wet?" She teased.
"Shut up!" Coronamon shouted up at her. "Not only am I a cat I'm also a fire Digimon so of course I'm not going to like the water." The lion Digimon said in his own defense.
"Guilmon doesn't seem to mind the water at all." Renamon pointed out glancing at the reptile Digimon that was happily splashing in the river with the other Digimon.
Coronamon spluttered a bit at the obvious fact as he tried to think of something to say. "Well, shut up!" He shouted loudly.
"Oh that was quite the comeback." Renamon teased. "Are you sure you aren't trying to hide the fact that you can't swim?" The kitsune asked.
Coronamon blanched at the accusation not about to admit that there might be some truth in it. "Yeah," Coronamon began. "Well what's your excuse? Why aren't you in the water either?" He asked her in return.
Renamon scoffed at him. "And get my fur wet? No thank you. I take extra pride in my fur's appearance after all." Renamon stated.
"That's surprisingly girly for you." Coronamon muttered lowly to himself not expecting Renamon to actually care about her physical appearance. He thought she was the kind of girl that didn't care what they looked like, or what others thought of them, but just happened to be beautiful anyway. Not that Coronamon thought she was beautiful or anything.
Emerging from the river Guilmon looked toward his Tamer with a large smile on his face. "This place is great Takato; can we come here every year?" The Digimon asked hopefully.
"Can we come here every year?!" A new voice mocked from the sidelines. Looking toward the other side of the river revealed Impmon lying down on a low hanging branch looking at the group of Digimon and Tamers with a frown on his face. "Look at you begging like a dog, you don't need their permission to do anything!" Impmon admonished angrily. "You so called Tamers keep your Digimon on a real short leash don't you? Telling 'em what they can do and who they can do it with. It's enough to make me puke!" The imp Digimon shouted.
"That's not true," Takato denied. "They could do anything as long as they don't get into trouble." He stated.
"We don't tell them who to play with." Henry added in agreement with Takato.
At that Impmon jumped to his feet, "Oh yeah!" Impmon shot back. "Then why didn't you invite me to play?!" The mostly purple Digimon questioned.
A smile appeared on Takato's face, "Why don't you come' play with us now?" He asked suppressing the urge to laugh at that moment.
Impmon turned his head away in a pout. "I don't wanna play with you now," Impmon denied unconvincingly. "I don't even know where you got the idea from. It's ridiculous, really me wanting to play-"
"Oh will you stop pretending Makeupmon," Naruto said from next to Impmon, no one evening noticing when the shinobi had moved from across the river. "And just jump in." He finished slapping the much smaller Digimon on the back and pushing him into the river.
Coming out of the water Impmon spit some water out of his mouth before glaring at Naruto. "Hey, what's the big idea?!" Impmon demanded.
"What?" Naruto replied innocently. "If you wanted to join in then go ahead. Besides since you're already in might as well, right?" The shinobi decided not to question Impmon on how the little imp seemed to know where they were in the middle of the woods.
"Well I guess if I have to." Impmon said as he tried to play it cool before he took off and started to chase the other Digimon in the river, soon they were all laughing.
"What a weird little guy, if he wanted to play why didn't he just say so in the first place?" Takato said looking at the playing Digimon
"Some people, even Digimon, I guess, just can't be honest with their feelings." Henry decided.
"Yeah," Naruto agreed jumping from the other side of the river and landing next to the Tamers, as he put his arms around Rika. "I know someone like that."
Rika blushed' a little, absentmindedly realizing with all physical contact that Naruto and she had had in the last few days it wouldn't surprise her if the other two Tamers understood that they were together. "Shut up Fishcake no Baka." Rika muttered removing his arms from around her and then shoving him into the river. The Tamers, Renamon, and Coronamon's laughing at seeing their leader with his wet hair covering his eyes and upset look on his face was short lived when they heard a scream coming from up the river.
Looking towards the source they were treated to the sight of the Digimon who were playing in the river seconds ago being thrown out and hitting the cliff-side, Impmon in particular landing on another tree branch.
"What happened?" Takato asked.
"What was it Terriermon?" Henry asked his Digimon.
"Careful guys, there's a Digimon over there!" Terriermon answered pointing across the river.
Looking toward where Terriermon was pointing a scowl appeared on Naruto's face. "It's the Deva from the other day, Sinduramon." Naruto informed the others.
"That's one big chicken." Takato commented.
"It's much bigger then it was when we confronted it last night." Renamon pointed out standing protectively in front of the Tamers along with Coronamon, who was looking between Renamon and Naruto questioningly.
The Digimon were about to attack, only stopping because their Tamers insisted they wait, when a sound coming behind them drew their attention away from the Digimon, though Naruto made sure to keep one eye trained on the Ultimate level Digimon, in case it decided to attack them while they were distracted.
Looking behind them they saw an owl with red eyes.
"Hoo… Hooo… Hoo…"
"What's wrong with it?" Rika asked looking at the owl weirdly, not only was it active during the day but it also had red glowing eyes.
"I think," Henry began, "I think that Sinduramon possessed it?" He finished not sounding too sure himself.
"Sinduramon did have a whole bunch of birds attack Renamon and me." Naruto reminded the others.
Takato raised an eyebrow in question, "But why?" Takato wondered.
"Maybe to talk to us," Rika said coming up with the only thing that would make sense with all the hooting that the owl was doing.
Turning to face Sinduramon fully Naruto called out to the Digimon. "Hey just because you possess an owl it doesn't mean that it's suddenly going to able to talk human ya know!" Naruto told the Digimon.
Sinduramon sweat dropped at the obvious fact but instead of acknowledging his mistake he let out a loud caw before taking into the air.
The Digimon didn't even wait a second before they started chasing the Deva.
"Wait you guys!" Takato called out to Digimon but was ignored.
"You're on vacation!" Henry tried to remind them.
"Looks like vacations over." Rika said with a smirk on her face, honestly while she was enjoying the trip she did think it was kind of boring and a fight is exactly what it needed to make it exciting. "Let's go." She finished leading the way back to the campgrounds so that they could change into some proper clothing.
Once they returned to the campgrounds they entered their respective tents and started to change, Takato telling Kazu and Kenta what was happening while he was changing.
"Jeez, can't you just pluck its feathers or something?" Kazu asked.
"It's twenty feet tall!" Takato said back, "Besides most of his body is made of metal." He pointed out.
"Ms. Asaji told us that there were blackouts all over Tokyo last night," Kenta said as the other Tamers arrived in their regular clothing, Naruto with Calumon on top of his head. "Do you guys think that that big Digimon chicken had anything to do with it?" He asked just as Takato came out of the tent fully clothed.
"Who knows," Naruto replied subtly making sure that he had adequate amount of kunai and shuriken with him for the upcoming battle. "Are you guys ready?" The shinobi asked his fellow Tamers and getting nods in response. "Then let's go." The blonde Tamer finished before he and the others took off in the same direction that the Digimon had.
Running through the forest the three native born Tamers realized just how easy they were finding running at full speed and not getting winded, something they knew they had to attribute to Naruto's training and the little chakra that they had access to. But by the looks of things they still had a long way to go before they reached Naruto's level as the blonde shinobi seemed to be physically restraining himself' from going faster.
"So where are we headed Whiskers?" Rika asked the cerulean eyed Tamer.
"Not a clue," Naruto admitted, Rika almost face palming at his answer.
"Guys I've been thinking and I might know where Sinduramon is heading." Henry informed the others.
"Well don't keep us waiting Einstein." Rika shot back expectantly.
"Well, we know that Sinduramon uses electricity to attack, right? And that when Naruto and Renamon faced Sinduramon last night he was much smaller and his attacks weren't all that strong." Henry began.
"Get to the point Brianiac." Rika demanded.
"Don't you get it? If Sinduramon uses electricity to attack and Kenta was right and there were blackouts all over Tokyo last night then Sinduramon was probably responsible." Henry explained.
"Do you really think so Henry?" Takato asked.
"Can you think of any other reason he got so big in one night?" Henry asked back.
"Ok," Naruto said. "So where is he going?" The shinobi asked.
"There is a hydroelectric power plant not too far from here." Henry answered. "That's got to be where Sinduramon is headed."
"Right," Naruto nodded his head in agreement as created two Shadow clones and had them pick up Henry and Takato while he carried Rika in his arms. "It'll be faster if you just tell us where to go Henry while I carry everyone. If you're right about Sinduramon then we have to get there as soon as possible." The shinobi stated.
"R-right," Henry said not all that comfortable with being carried by the blonde teen. "We should start at the river and follow it to its source that should take us close enough to be able get an exact location on the dam." Henry rationalized.
Without a word Naruto took off the world becoming nothing but a blur of greens and browns to the three Tamers that were being carried by him and his Shadow clones. It was only a minute before they reached the river and started to follow it up stream.
When the Tamers reached the hydroelectric dam the Tamers were witnesses to the sight of a one-sided battle between their Digimon and Sinduramon. Sadly, for them, their Digimon were on the losing side.
Sinduramon was flying above the others easily dodging their attacks and whatever attacks happened to hit him didn't affect him at all. Sinduramon's returned attacks of Positron Pulse forced the Tamer Digimon to scatter or risk being struck by the strong blasts of concentrated lightning. As it stood the dam was heavily damaged by Sinduramon's attacks, though the Rooster Deva made sure not to cause enough damage to destroy it so that he could absorb the electricity it generated.
Putting the others down and dispelling his Shadow clones Naruto went through some quick hand seals before launching a Wind Style: Air Bullet at Sinduramon. The Deva not expecting the attack was struck by it but its armor proved its resilience as Sinduramon was only knocked around before righting himself before turning to look at the Tamers with a glare.
With two other Devas already killed by the humans and their pet Digimon Sinduramon wasn't about to allow them to interfere with his mission. Like the previous night Sinduramon unleashed a powerful screech, this one though was far louder and caused the Tamers and their Digimon to hold their ears protectively. Seconds later birds, every single one of their eyes glowing' an ominous red, started to emerge from the forest headed directly toward the Tamers.
"Uh guys?" Takato said clearly freaked out by the army of birds heading in their direction, "Any ideas?" He asked almost desperately.
Naruto cursed inwardly as he stepped forward. He had plenty jutsu that could kill the little army of birds that Sinduramon was threatening them with, they were birds after all and it was only the fact that there were so many that made them dangerous. Another problem was that the dam, and the fact that the Digimon were still on it, would also be caught in the aftershock of any jutsu he used so he had to be extra careful of when and what he used. This left Naruto with one option that was quick, effortless, and would take care of all the birds at once, no matter how reluctant the shinobi was about what he was about to do.
'Oh well,' Naruto thought with a sigh closing his eyes for only a moment. Snapping his eyes open a second later Naruto unleashed a concentrated blast of K.I. at the birds. For shinobi K.I. could be anything from a mild annoyance to deadly, remembering the time Sakura told him about Sasuke's and her confrontation with Orochimaru during the Chunin Exams. It was before Naruto was able to rejoin them and how using pure K.I. the Snake Sannin showed the two Gennin dying at his hands and how it left them paralyzed and almost did kill them if not for Sasuke snapping out of it by stabbing a kunai in his leg. Now Naruto was going to do something similar only with much deadlier results. In seconds from feeling the K.I. that Naruto was unleashing the birds dropped like stones into the lake their hearts no longer beating.
On a separate yet related note when the bodies of the birds were eventually found an investigation would be launched into what caused it, no explainable reason would be found. Yet the outcry of concern from parents would keep the school from ever rescheduling a trip to the camping grounds again.
Turning to see how the other Tamers were fairing Naruto wasn't all that surprised at the state he found them in. Takato and Henry were on their hands and knees, gasping for breath, and noticeably paler than Naruto had ever seen them looking like they were about to throw up their lunch any second. Switching his attention to Rika, Naruto found the female Tamer in a much better state than the other two. Rika's body was stiff, though her clenched hands were visibly shaking, but that was it. Considering what she went through with Gargomon, Icedevimon, and most recently Sangloupmon it made sense to Naruto that Rika would be handling it best.
'Something to work with them on later,' Naruto decided silently.
"What… was… that?" Rika managed to gasp out.
"Killing Intent," Naruto answered simply. "I'll explain later." He promised them focusing back on the fight that was going on.
"Whoa Henry you don't look so good." Terriermon remarked looking at his Tamer who was picking himself off the ground along with Takato.
"Don't feel so good either." Henry groaned.
"Are you okay Takato?" Guilmon asked the brunette Tamer.
"I'll be fine boy," Takato reassured the dinosaur Digimon. "I just need a minute."
"Well you don't have a minute." Coronamon told them looking at Sinduramon as the Rooster Deva flew over them.
DIGIVOLUTION
"Coronamon digivolve to… Firamon!"
"Patamon digivolve to… Angemon!"
"Renamon digivolve to… Kyuubimon!"
"Terriermon digivolve to… Gargomon!"
"Guilmon digivolve to… Growlmon!"
Simultaneously the Tamer Digimon digivolved into their Champions forms, Firamon and Angemon taking to the sky instantly so that they could fight Sinduramon on more even footing.
With his staff in front of him Angemon started the battle once more, "Omni Typhoon!" A twister of wind slammed into Sinduramon sending the Deva spiraling through the sky. As the typhoon started to die down Sinduramon tried to right himself but was attacked from above by Firamon slashing the Deva across the chest with his Fire Claw.
Sinduramon's armor protected the digital rooster from a majority of the damage that Firamon's attack caused. Reacting more on instinct than anything else Sinduramon discharged some electricity, not an actual attack, and shocked Firamon forcing the lion Digimon away. Sinduramon barely managed to spread his wings and right himself when he immediately dived down.
Seeing Firamon forced away by Sinduramon, Kyuubimon jumped into the air and started to spin around, "Dragon Wheel!" The kitsune called surrounded by pale blue flames that took the form of a dragon only for Sinduramon to dive and avoid the attack.
"Pyro Blaster!" Growlmon followed up Kyuubimon's attack with one of his own, firing multiple blasts of fire at Sinduramon. Because of his size Sinduramon wasn't nearly as fast as he was when he was smaller, nor was he that agile when it came to flying to begin with, so while Sinduramon managed to just barely dodge the first blast and was hit by the other two.
Gargomon tried to attack from behind but Sinduramon unleashed a powerful Positron Pulse throwing the rabbit Digimon back and making him hit the ground hard.
Sinduramon shrunk after using his Positron Pulse losing a lot of the electricity that it stole from last night. As it was still recovering from losing so much of its stored energy Kyuubimon managed to catch Sinduramon by surprise and hit him with a Fox Tail Inferno. With a bit of a struggle Sinduramon managed to take off and not fall on to the ground, his speed now much greater with his smaller size.
Angemon and a recovered Firamon took after the Deva Digimon across the river, Firamon trying to slow down the Ultimate level with his Fire Bombs attacks, only for them to be dodged each time as Sinduramon's boosted speed made it nearly impossible for him to be hit. The three Digimon were flying over the river away from the dam until Sinduramon suddenly stopped and turned around and shot towards the two Tamer Digimon. Flying in between them Sinduramon tilted to the side so that his wing skimmed across the water, small sparks of electricity being generated from where the wing tip met the water, drenching Angemon and Firamon with the water that was momentarily kicked upped and stunning them for a moment as well. Flying higher into the sky Sinduramon summoned forth the little electricity that he naturally possessed.
"Positron Pulse," The Deva cried unleashing the surge of electricity down on the two flying Tamer Digimon. In Sinduramon's weakened state his attack normally wouldn't have done much damage but with it supplemented both by the water soaking the two Champion level Digimon and the river beneath them it made it that much stronger. To finish things off the Rooster Deva channeled electricity into the Treasure Pestle. "Bǎo Chǔ!" Taking off at almost blinding speeds Sinduramon slammed into the two Digimon, hitting Angemon across the chest and Firamon on the head shocking them once more before they fell into the river beneath them.
With the two flying Tamer Digimon defeated, even if only momentarily, the Deva focused back on the dam seeing the other Digimon standing protectively on it. Letting out a screech Sinduramon shot at them Growlmon and Gargomon instantly firing at the quickly approaching Deva with their Pyro Blaster and Gargo Laser respectively. The Tamers didn't fail to notice that Kyuubimon wasn't launching her own attacks at the Ultimate level Digimon.
"What's wrong with Kyuubimon?" Takato asked no one in particular. "Why isn't she attacking?"
"Shut it Goggle-head." Rika snapped taking the brunette's questioning of her Digimon's actions, or lack thereof, as an insult. Takato raised his hands in defense with uneasy smile on his face not wanting to get into a fight with the redhead.
Kyuubimon was watching the river's surface seeing how Angemon managed to resurface but that Firamon had yet to do so. Remembering something from earlier that day that had been tugging at the back of her mind since the two Digimon fell into the river the kitsune addressed the other Champion level Digimon. "I'll be back," She told them. "Hold him off!" Kyuubimon instructed before diving into the lake.
"Now where is she going?" Henry asked. Rika this time kept her silence as even her curiosity had been peeked at seeing her partner suddenly jump into the lake, even though that was a dangerous place to be when fighting against an electric opponent.
"Somethings wrong," Naruto muttered drawing the others attention to himself. Since Kyuubimon jumped into the river he had been watching it closely and noticed how so far Angemon was the only one of his two Digimon to resurface. "Firamon is still down there." The blonde shinobi stated. Naruto's statement caused the other three Tamers' eyes to widen in realization as they looked back to the river in time to see Angemon go back under, the angel Digimon apparently realizing there was something wrong as well.
Under the water's surface Firamon was trashing around trying to reach the surface but he only managed to sink deeper below the water, soon enough the lion Digimon ran out of air and De-Digivolved back into Coronamon, the fire on his forehead and tail extinguished. The Rookie level Digimon was quickly losing consciousness when he felt someone grabbing him by the fur on his back and start to pull him up.
Kyuubimon, after diving into the river, spotted Firamon sinking deeper before he turned to Coronamon. Swimming as quickly as she could Kyuubimon managed to reach Coronamon and scruff of fur on his back with her mouth. Swimming back up Kyuubimon was joined by Angemon, the angel Digimon ready to help Kyuubimon if she needed it. Breaking the water's surface Coronamon immediately started to cough up water.
"Are you alright Coronamon?" Angemon asked.
"I'm… fine." Coronamon replied.
"So I guess you really can't swim." Kyuubimon teased the small lion Digimon lightly.
"Shut… cough… up," Coronamon managed to cough out weakly. "What happened to you not willing to get your fur wet?" He asked her back as Angemon helped him stay afloat.
Kyuubimon smirked at him. "I had an important reason to ignore that little fact." She told him.
"Shut up." Coronamon muttered once more feeling embarrassed for some reason.
"Watch out below!" The three heard Growlmon's voice shout out before looking up and seeing the dinosaur Digimon and Gargomon falling in their direction before creating a big splash as they hit the river.
While Kyuubimon and Angemon had been rescuing Coronamon from drowning Growlmon and Gargomon had been doing their best to hold Sinduramon at bay, but because of how fast the Deva was it soon managed to get passed them before landing on the dam and instantly start to siphon electricity from it. That electricity was then redirected right at Growlmon and Gargomon blasting them right off the dam.
"What happened to holding him off?" Kyuubimon asked them.
"Well sorry," Gargomon retorted. "Next time you can hold off a speedy Ultimate while Growlmon and I get to play in the river."
"We need to stop Sinduramon now." Naruto stated. With the Digimon in the river and Sinduramon draining the dam of electricity and getting stronger the Tamer Digimon couldn't be in a worse position.
"Well what are we going to do Sinduramon just keeps getting bigger?" Takato pointed out staring as the Rooster Deva worriedly.
"I'll take care of it." The blonde shinobi decided.
"You?" Rika asked him curiously. "What happened to not fighting our battles for us?" She asked him, Naruto repeatedly stating over the last few weeks that he was helping the Digimon get stronger so that he wouldn't have to do everything for them.
"Don't have much of a choice. Coronamon and the others are sitting ducks right now; if Sinduramon attacks them they're finished." Naruto said before taking off across the water's surface. In a matter of seconds Naruto was near the base of the dam. "Water style: Water Dragon Jutsu!" Water from the river rose up behind Naruto in the form of a serpentine dragon and rushed at the Deva with a roar.
Sinduramon's eyes widened at the water dragon that was heading in its direction and was only barely able to dodge it by flying into the air.
Landing on the dam Naruto released his control over the jutsu, so that the water splashed around him harmlessly, Naruto looked up at the Deva. "You made a mistake when you decided to fight us out here." Naruto told the Ultimate level Digimon as he raised a single arm above his head, "Because out here I don't have to hold back!" He finished as a sphere with four blades made of wind formed in the palm of his hand. "And up there I don't have to worry about hitting anything but you!"
"Wha-What is that?" Takato asked looking at Naruto in awe.
"Wait do you guys hear that?" Henry asked as the others listened silently for a second to the sound of screeching. "I think that Naruto's jutsu is actually cutting the wind around him." The half-Chinese Tamer stated just as awed as Takato.
"It's amazing," Rika breathed her agreement.
"Rasenshuriken!" Naruto shouted throwing the Rasenshuriken at Sinduramon.
The Rooster Deva watched the spiraling sphere approach it with a primal sense of fear knowing if that thing were to hit him then it would be the end of him, "Positron Pulse!" With a desperate cry the Deva unleashed all the electricity it had been able to gather in one shot hoping it would be enough to destroy the Rasenshuriken instead it watched in horror as the Rasenshuriken tore through its attack. It was only because of Sinduramon's once more smaller size that the Deva thought it would be able to dodge under the jutsu as he abruptly cut off its attack. Diving down the Deva almost let out a crow in victory when the impossible happened, at least in its own mind, and the Rasenshuriken expanded and slammed into its back. In a matter of seconds Sinduramon was deleted without even a scrap of data left.
When Naruto eventually rejoined the others he was immediately jumped on by the others as they tried to figure out what the last jutsu was. To which he explained as best as possible.
"That was so awesome!" Takato declared excitedly.
"Speak for yourself," Terriermon retorted, he and the other all back in their Rookie forms and were lying on the riverbank all gasping for breath. "We nearly drowned!" The winds that were made by the Rasenshuriken stirred the water violently and nearly causing the Digimon to drown as they couldn't get out of the powerful current.
"I nearly drowned twice!" Coronamon pointed out; giving his Tamer the best glare he could manage.
Naruto rubbed the back of his head as he grinned sheepishly at the Digimon, "Sorry." He apologized awkwardly.
The return trip for the Tamers saw them and their Digimon asleep through most of it, the fight with Sinduramon and the day activities that followed tiring them out. With Naruto and Rika once more sleeping against each other the shinobi's fan-girls didn't have any choice but to accept that Naruto was truly off the market. Not that that would keep them from having their weekly meetings or try to get his attention as much as possible.
AN: Alright the fight between the Tamers and Sinduramon wasn't all that long but in my defense I always thought that Sinduramon was the weakest of all the Devas and there wasn't much I could think of that could make this interesting, and this had already taken two months to write and I just wanted to get through with this.
Despite that I hope that everyone enjoyed the chapter, even if only a little.
(1): Months, probably even a year, earlier I came up with this character without giving her much thought. Now that I'm bringing her back I can't help but think that that her description is a lot like that of Sarada Uchiha. A coincidence but one I still find mildly amusing.
Please remember to review.
