Rika stared at her reflection in the full-length body mirror, her blank expression not hinting at the pure horror she was feeling at what she was seeing. Her normal spiked ponytail was missing letting her hair hang freely so that it framed her face beautifully, but her horror was because of what she was wearing. What she was forced to wear. The fact that Rika found herself in a dress was bad enough in the redhead's opinion, but when you included the fact it was pink with an outlandish number of frills changed the dress from something she hated to something that Rika would happily watch burn to ash while laughing maniacally. 'How did it come to this?' Rika thought unhappily though she knew well enough the answer to her question.
"Thanks again for setting this up Sugai." Rumiko said as genuinely as she possibly could, a smile firmly fixated on her face. Walking over to her daughter Rumiko stood behind Rika; staring at her daughter's reflection noticing the signs of Rika's mounting frustration with what she was having her do. Rumiko though had to almost physically restrain herself from tearing the dress off of Rika. The fashionista in her' demanded that she take the horrible looking and frill covered dress, burn it, and scatter the ashes to the wind.
"For you Makino, anything." Sugai replied gazing at the pair happily.
Rumiko masked her displeasure expertly as she continued. "I'm sure my little Rika has what it takes to be a world class model," Rumiko said confidently. A fact that the model was completely sure about, if her daughter had any interest in modeling what so ever. "With a little guidance, of course." She added as an afterthought.
"A little guidance?" Sugai repeated disbelievingly. "Please, you are the best role model there is." The man said flattering Rumiko shamelessly, causing Rika to roll her eyes and Rumiko almost following suit. "Isn't she?"
"Well that's what everyone says." Rumiko said dully. "Cocoa will love her look, she's the girl next door. Aren't you excited, pumpkin?" She asked her daughter.
"I'm ecstatic." Rika deadpanned while still managing to sound sarcastic.
Rumiko was sure that was the best that she could expect from her daughter so she tried to move the conversation along. "Oh, don't mind her, she's just nervous, right honeybunch? Sugai and Cocoa are very important contacts." Rumiko said returning Sugai's compliments. "You mind seeing if everything is ready yet Sugai?" She asked the man.
"Of course," Sugai answered stepping out of the room.
Once Sugai had left the room Rumiko dropped any pretense of pleasantries as she let out a heavy sigh. "Really that man." Rumiko grumbled lowly. "Acting as if he was the one doing me some big favor." She muttered. Sugai and Cocoa were part of a small modeling agency, the clothes and photos beings only an adequate quality but good for those starting off in the modeling world, so she, a world class model, agreeing to a photoshoot could only help them. All in exchange of Rika modeling for them a little.
"Mom," Rika began drawing her mother's attention. "What are we doing here?" She asked miserably. "You know I hate these sorts of things." Rika told her mother hoping she would stop this now and they could just go home.
Rumiko let out another sigh before addressing her daughter. "I know Rika. I've accepted the fact that you don't want to follow in my footsteps. But the fact of the matter is this wouldn't me much of a punishment if it was something you enjoyed." Rumiko pointed out. She also thought of something to punish Naruto with that her mother was helping her with.
Nonaka Residence
Naruto was suffering a torture worse than any he had experienced before. No amount of begging or apologizing seemed to dissuade Seiko from carrying out his punishment. No matter how understanding, or how much Seiko liked Naruto, she couldn't just forgive the danger that they had put themselves in and not telling them. While she wasn't quite sure what she could possibly done to help she still wished to have known. That's why she took great pleasure in putting a freshly baked plate of cookies in front of a tied-up Naruto.
Naruto could feel his mouth watering as he took a good whiff of the cookies placed in front of him. It was only soured by the fact that he knew what was coming next. At first Seiko, had given some of the freshly baked goods to the Digimon for them to enjoy, but after the first couple of batches even they got full. Now the grandmother would put the plate in front of Naruto for several minutes before throwing them all away into the trash. Wasteful, yes. But it was meant to punish Naruto and denying him Seiko's delicious baked goods was as cruel as punishments went.
If he really wanted to Naruto knew that he could snap the rope that bound him. That of course didn't mean that Seiko was going to allow him to eat anything that she made.
"Why?" Naruto asked wretchedly with crocodile tears streaming down his cheeks.
Back with Rika and Rumiko
Rika silently and reluctantly admitted that her mother had a valid point there. Idly wondering what Naruto was having to go through.
"You and Naruto hid the fact that you were doing something dangerous, risking your lives." Rumiko stated remembering everything that she learned the previous night.
Flashback
After what happened it was understandable that Rumiko would have questions, questions that Rika wasn't sure she knew how to answer. Rumiko rushed to get them home in part to get herself and Rika home; in part for the safety it provided and in part to get her answers from Rika as soon as possible. Once they made it home Rumiko immediately demanded Rika to explain, drawing a curious Seiko from deeper within the house. Looking between her mother and grandmother Rika knew that there was no way that she could lie to both of them. Instead Rika asked for a few minutes as she called Naruto asking for his help, even if all he did was end up giving her silent support. At the same time, she told him about Vajramon and how Renamon had left with him. A few minutes later everyone was gathered in the living room. Naruto bringing Coronamon and Patamon with him seeing no reason as to why he should try and keep their existence a secret from the two women any longer.
"Rika please explain what's going on?" Rumiko pleaded with her daughter. Rumiko threw a quick glance at the two creatures that were near Naruto, Coronamon sitting beside his Tamer while Patamon flew a few inches above him, before turning her attention back to Rika. "What are they? And those other two? Well?" She asked expectantly.
Rika struggled to answer her mother with the growing concern she felt for where Renamon could have gone distracting her.
"We're Digimon lady." Coronamon stated with a bit of a huff. "I'm Coronamon and this is Patamon." The small lion Digimon introduced himself and his fellow Digimon. "Ow!" He cried once Naruto smacked him in the back of his head. "What was that for?!" Coronamon demanded, holding the back of his head with both of his hands with big fat tears in the corner of his eyes.
"Don't be rude." Naruto scolded his partner. For a split-second Naruto considered having Henry teach Coronamon manners, but considering how Terriermon still acted on a daily basis despite Henry's efforts Naruto quickly decided not to bother.
"And I'm Calumon! Are we having a sleep over?" At the sound of Calumon's voice the Tamers, Coronamon and Patamon, along with Rumiko turned their heads to find the small white and purple Digimon resting comfortably in Seiko's lap. Meanwhile Seiko seemed to be petting the little creampuff's head much to Calumon's obvious delight. "Are we?" Calumon asked hopefully.
"Calumon?" Rika questioned in obvious confusion, not expecting to see the green eyed Digimon during such a serious moment in her home. "When did you get here?" Rika asked.
Calumon tilted his head in obvious confusion. "What do you mean?" Calumon asked obliviously. "I came with Naruto."
"You did?" Naruto muttered, not having noticed the small Digimon before when he made his way to Rika's home.
"You're adorable!" Rumiko suddenly squealed, scooping Calumon out of her mother's lap and smothering him in a hug. "I remember you. You we're that cute little doll that Rika said she threw over the side of a bridge."
Naruto looked over at Rika questioningly, mouthing a silent 'Really?' to which Rika replied with a simple shrug of her shoulders.
"Naruto! Rika! Help!" Calumon's muffled shout drew their attention back to him. Currently the Light of Digivolution was desperately reaching out towards the others while having his face buried in Rumiko's breasts. "Can't… b-breath!" Calumon managed to get out as he fought to get his face out of Rumiko's cleavage.
Rika looked on dryly as Coronamon snickered, and Patamon stared at Calumon in concern. Naruto stared at Calumon in momentary disbelief before he quickly found himself looking away from the scene when Rika turned her attention to him with a heated glare for staring at, if even inadvertently, at her mother's chest.
With a light giggle, Seiko pulled Calumon away from her daughter. "Now settle down Rumiko." Seiko chastised her daughter lightly holding the panting Digimon, as he desperately sacked in air, close to herself and away from Rumiko.
"T-thank…you." Calumon got in between breaths.
"Your quite welcome." Seiko replied with a small amused laugh, even as her daughter stared at her with a pout on her face. 'She still acts like a young girl at times.' Seiko remarked silently to herself fondly.
Rika sighed in relief as the tense atmosphere from before was all but gone now making it easier on her to explain things. "They're Digimon mom." Rika began.
"Digimon?" Rumiko began confused. "Isn't that the name of that card game you're into?" Rumiko questioned before shaking her head disbelievingly. "But none of that is real." The single mother claimed, though the fact that there were currently three Digimon in her home and she had seen two others earlier didn't give much legitimacy to her claim.
"They're real." Rika reaffirmed strongly.
"Digimon?" Seiko mused softly. "Like that kitsune that I've seen around you Rika?" She asked her granddaughter.
Naruto and Rika were stunned by the knowledge that Seiko knew about Renamon, Rika more so. "Renamon." Rika identified.
Though everyone was surprised it was Rumiko that managed to say something first. "You knew about them mom?" Rumiko questioned her mother incredulously. "Why didn't you tell me before!" The blonde mother almost demanded.
"Calm down Rumiko." Seiko chided her daughter gently, a smile still present. "With how often you travel it simply slipped my mind. Really sometimes I wondered if I wasn't just going senile." Seiko claimed jokingly. "Besides the idea that Rika had a kitsune as a guardian angel made it seem like the old Kyuubi no Kitsune story was real. It all seemed rather romantic to me." The grandmother said.
"Kyuubi?" Naruto repeated, his interest peaked at the mention of the nine-tailed fox. "What story?" He asked.
"It's nothing." Rika said hurriedly a light blush dusting her cheeks. The story about the Kyuubi and her ancestor was not something that Rika had thought about since her grandma had told her the story, not even when Naruto revealed about being the Kyuubi. Sure, a Kyuubi no Kitsune of an alternate dimension but still a Kyuubi no Kitsune. It was turning out to be a night of revelations, but Rika didn't want her family finding out that piece of information. Mostly just to save her the embarrassment of how her mother and grandmother would react to knowing that history was apparently repeating itself with her and Naruto.
"I remember that story. It was one of my favorites as a girl." Rumiko said fondly before shaking her head. "But back on topic." The blonde woman said getting back on topic. "So Digimon are real. But how does explain what happened tonight."
Naruto took over for a moment being able to explain things a bit better than Rika. He explained how one of the Digimon Sovereigns, a guardian of the Digital World, had a vendetta against humans and was trying end their existence. While also searching for something. That as Tamers it was their job to stop the Digimon that called themselves Devas, servants of the Digimon Sovereign, that came through from causing wanton destruction.
"But do you know what they are looking for?" Seiko asked on concern.
Naruto nodded his head once. "The little cream puff sitting in your lap." Naruto answered, causing everyone to look at Calumon, who hadn't really been paying attention to the conversation in favor of eating some of the snacks that Seiko had laid out.
The Light of Digivolution tilted his head to the side in confusion. "What?" He asked innocently.
End Flashback
Rika shook off the memory of the last night as she refocused on her mother. "Sure, things were dangerous sometimes." Rika relented. Along with the truth about Digimon, Rika and Naruto also told her mother and grandmother about the couple of incidents were her life was actually in danger, figuring it would be better not to keep those sorts of secrets from them and risk them coming out later in a worse situation, and the training that Naruto was giving the others Tamers in order to keep them safe. "But it was never really that bad the Digimon and Naruto would have kept anything bad from happening." Rika tried to reason.
Rumiko shook her head dejectedly at Rika. "You don't understand Rika." Rumiko said softly. "Not knowing and now knowing the danger that you and Naruto puts yourselves in, in order to fight these Digimon is maddening. As a parent, as your mother, there is a part of me that wants nothing more than to lock you in your room to keep you safe from the rest of the world." The blonde mother claimed passionately before letting out a weary sigh. "But I think we both know how unlikely that scenario is. Somehow, you'd find a way to escape, probably with the help of your apparently ninja boyfriend," Rumiko teased her daughter, causing an embarrassed blush to spread across Rika's face, before continuing. "And end up right in the middle of whatever adventure you seem to be having." The single mother finished.
"I'm not some sort of damsel that needs to be rescued or lets others fight her battles for her." Rika told her mother.
"I know," Rumiko admitted with a resigned smile gazing at her daughter with all the warmth and love she was capable of. "You are so much stronger than I was at your age." She told her. "As if last night wasn't proof enough. If I was in your position, with everything that is going on with the Digimon, I would be totally freaking out. Not to mention a complete and total wreck." The mother joked lightly. "And that more than anything reassures me that you will be okay. But no matter what I want to know what is happening in your life, especially if it's dangerous. I'm not sure how I could help you, if I even could, but if it comes down to it I want to be able to do whatever I can for you in whichever way I can."
"Mom," Rika murmured softly.
Rumiko pulled Rika into a tight hug her head nestled against the top of Rika's. "I love you sweetheart and I would do anything for you. I hope you always remember that." Rumiko told her daughter softly.
Rika leaned into her mother's embrace, wrapping her own arms around her mother loosely, with a small smile. "I will." She promised.
Rumiko savored the hug that she was sharing with her daughter. Before Rumiko figured that if she ever tried to hug her daughter like she was doing now the younger girl would be trying to fight her way out of her embrace. Now, while Rumiko doubted Rika would always be so accepting, the mother took solace in the fact that she would be able to enjoy these few moments. Rumiko briefly wondered if she owed Naruto and that fox Digimon, Renamon, for these opportunities. Pulling back from the hug Rumiko smiled brightly down at her daughter. "Alright we should get going. They should be ready now." Rumiko told Rika, getting a groan from her daughter who had hoped that her mother would have let her off from her punishment.
Soon enough Rika found herself in the studio standing in front of a green screen. Very reluctantly Rika found herself following the cameraman's, Cocoa a man with long dark hair that was pulled into a ponytail and goatee, instructions even if just barely. Despite Rika's lack of enthusiasm Cocoa seemed to be making up for it in spades. The moment that Cocoa saw the young redhead he seemed to be enchanted by the girl and seemed to go into a frenzy as he began to take photos of Rika. "Time for Cocoa to work his magic." The man said eccentrically. "Look at those eyes. When I'm done with you baby you're gonna be a star."
"Wouldn't that be fun?" Sugai asked from off to the side. "To be famous like your mother?"
"Not really." Rika deadpanned.
"Rika," Rumiko muttered with crocodile tears streaming down her face. While she had come to accept that her daughter had absolutely no interest in becoming a model it still stung a little at how frankly Rika dismissed any desire to follow in her footsteps.
"It's magic time baby!" Cocoa claimed circling Rika while the Tamer just stood there with wide brim hat on her head. "Light check, don't move. Okay Rika baby, show me what you've got. I wanna see glamour, I wanna see class."
Rumiko sweat-dropped while Cocoa seemed to have energy to spare, as he kept moving around taking pictures of Rika from different angles, Rika just stood in place starring almost blankly ahead.
"You make other girls look like dirt." The man claimed zealously "Great! Work it baby! Don't move. You are a natural darling! Now, lose the hat." Cocoa instructed, Rika following and taking off the hat, one of her eyebrows starting to twitch in annoyance as she continued to listen to Cocoa talk. "Terrific! Now, look right into the camera, that's it. You like the camera, you love the camera! The camera's your new boyfriend!" Cocoa continued to call out more ludicrous things.
'Uh oh,' Rumiko thought facepalming. If there was one thing that Rumiko had come to realize, even with the sparse contact she had with her daughter because of her job, it was how touchy her daughter was about her relationship with Naruto. Protective was one of the words for it.
As such Rumiko wasn't at all surprised that when Cocoa moved a little too close to Rika, while taking a few pictures, that the redhead smashed the camera, pushing Cocoa over, before rushing out of the room.
"I guess I should get going too." Rumiko whispered to herself, as the rest of the camera crew focused on helping Cocoa get back up, making a quick exit before the inevitable shouting was sure to begin.
Nonaka Residence
Eventually, Rumiko returned to her home after for searching for Rika at the studio. Only to find Rika's clothes missing and the dress she had been wearing on the ground in the dressing room they had been waiting at before. After doing another quick search of the building the blonde mother left to return home imagining that, that is where Rika had gone to.
"Really that girl." Rumiko mumbled, taking a seat on one of the couches in the leaving room as she let out a sigh, to Seiko. "You should have seen her." She gripped.
A placating smile appeared on Seiko's face, though she kept her gaze firmly fixed on the book that she was reading. "Were you may be expecting something different?" Seiko questioned her daughter.
Rumiko let out another sigh before shaking her head. "No," Rumiko admitted. "But I at least hoped that my punishment for Rika would have lasted longer." The blonde-haired mother said with a bit of a pout. "Speaking of punishments." She continued her eyes darting to Naruto, who was sitting on another sofa enjoying some of her mother's freshly baked cookies. "I thought we agreed to not let him have any snacks?" Rumiko pointed out questioningly.
Seiko finally tore her eyes away from the book she had been reading to look at her daughter, her smile widening a bit. "We did." Seiko affirmed. "But throwing all that food away is such a waste." The grandmother pointed out before holding up the book that she was reading for Rumiko to see clearly. "Besides, Naruto said he would give me this if I ended his punishment." She said revealing a signed copy of Naruto's second book. "It's even more interesting to read now that I know that all these things actually happened."
"So much for my first foray into being a responsible parent." Rumiko muttered to herself. It was a few minutes later that everyone heard the front door open and close. "Rika Nonaka! Is that you?!" The mother called as she rose from her seat. "Where have you been?!" She questioned her daughter.
"I've been out looking for Renamon." Rika answered with a tired sigh. Since leaving the modeling agency the redhead had been walking around the city hoping desperately that her D-arc might give her a clue as to where her partner had gone. But after a few hours of fruitless searching Rika finally decided on making her way home.
Rumiko was rendered silent, while Seiko stared with a saddened frown on her face, unsure what she could say to her daughter. She knew very little about Renamon and just about as much about her relationship with Rika. All she had was rudimentary understanding of concern from Rika for the kitsune she had seen for only a few seconds the other night. "It's going to be alright." Rumiko said gently. "I'm sure it won't be long before Renamon has returned." While they might be hollow assurances Rumiko couldn't just stand by silently and not say something to try and comfort her daughter.
Rika nodded her head, though she didn't feel any of the reassurance that her mother was trying to give her, before looking at Naruto. "Have your clones found anything Whiskers?" Rika asked him hopefully.
Naruto shook her head regretfully. "I'm having them search the entire city but they haven't found anything yet, or I would know." He told her. His clones had strict orders to dispel the moment that they found any clue to Renamon's whereabouts.
At the news, Rika silently left the room. The others watched Rika leave with forlorn looks crossing their faces before Rumiko turned her attention to Naruto. "You will be able to find her, won't you?" She asked him, at the forefront of her mind was her concern for Rika.
"Of course," Naruto answered confidently. While things might be a little disheartening at the moment with their lack of information on Renamon's whereabouts, there wasn't a doubt in Naruto's mind that they would find her. "Just leave it to me." Naruto stated as he stood up from his seat so that he could join Rika.
Henry's Home
"I feel terrible." Takato found himself restating a fact he had voiced before, as he sat on Henry's bed in the half-Japanese Tamer's bedroom.
Sitting at his computer table Henry found himself letting out a weary sigh at Takato' s statement, having heard a version of it several times in the last few hours. "So, do I Takato." Henry agreed. "But there really isn't anything that we can do right now but wait until we hear something." The blue haired Tamer pointed out.
"I know," Takato reluctantly admitted. "But I just can't help but feel like if it were Guilmon or Terriermon we would be running through the city searching for them and not just sitting here doing nothing." The brunette Tamer said frustration laced into his voice.
Henry nodded his head understandably. "It's not like I don't understand what you're saying Takato. But do you really think there is anywhere in city that we could search that Naruto's clones couldn't? Or that we would be able to track Renamon without Rika's D-arc?" Henry questioned, getting Takato to shake his head. "As much as I hate to say it searching all of Shinjuku looking for Renamon would only be a waste of time and energy. Especially when Naruto already has it handled." The half-Chinese Tamer muttered. "Until then we just have to be ready." He reiterated.
"Hey, Mo-men-tai." Terriermon began hoping up onto the bed, drawing Takato's and Henry's attention. "There's no need to look so worried guys. I'm sure it won't be long before the Devas are begging for us to take Renamon back." The little Digimon said confidently. "It doesn't matter if they are Ultimate level Digimon, Renamon will have them all going crazy by now."
Henry gave his partner an appreciative smile as he stood up from his desk chair and patted his Digimon on his head. "I'm sure your right Terriermon." Henry told his partner.
"Well of course I am." Terriermon stated proudly, puffing out his little chest.
Takato smiled a small smile, as he stared at the Tamer and Digimon pair, before it quickly diminished. 'I hope you are right Terriermon.' Takato thought anxiously.
Hypnos
Riley found herself once more walking through the halls of Hypnos making her way steadily up to the monitor room. Earlier she had planned on going out on a date, going as far as to dress up a little and apply makeup something she normally never did, only to called into work at the last minute by Yamaki. As a result, she was now wearing her jumpsuit with makeup on her face. While the young woman felt disappointment she also felt indignant anger at her boss.
"Riley, good you're here." The man she had just being cursing in her head said as he walked up to her, most of his attention focused on some papers that he was reading.
"Of course, I am." Riley muttered loudly.
Yamaki looked up from his papers to glare at Riley from beneath his glasses. "Excuse me, what was that?" He challenged the woman.
Riley didn't back down as she glared right back at Yamaki. "Sorry, let me be clear." Riley started angrily. "I can't help but notice how coincidental it is that w-I was called into work the same night that I had a date." The long-haired woman pointed out.
Beneath his sunglasses Yamaki blinked a couple of times in shock, not having expected Riley to call him out in the middle of the hallway where everyone could see them. With a quick look, Yamaki noticed a few works had stopped to stare at the two of them. "You need to remember where exactly you are and who you are talking to Riley." Yamaki hissed at the woman.
Riley glared at Yamaki. "I'll be sure to keep that in mind." She muttered turning her back on him.
"Hey Riley," Tally called, having missed the small confrontation between her friend and her boss. The short haired woman noticed how everyone seemed to be staring at Riley and Yamaki, but instead of being stupid and asking was going on in front of her boss and getting yelled at she chose to wait. With the rumor mill that usually surrounded the two she was sure she'd hear what happened soon enough anyway. "Nice makeup, did someone have a date?" Tally asked.
Riley smiled lightly, suppressing previous anger and frustration to the point that one wouldn't have known she was angry. "Nah, not tonight."
"How come you're always getting asked out and I never am?" Yamaki heard Tally question as the two women walked away. Looking around he noticed how everyone was still just staring at him. "What are you all just standing around for!" He shouted snapping everyone out of their stupor, panicked looks crossing their faces. "Get back to work or find new employment!"
Leaving everyone scrambling Yamaki turned his attention as best he could to the papers that he all but forgotten about.
Nonaka Residence
Since Rika had returned home Naruto had sat beside her silently on the spot outside her room. Rika hadn't said a word the whole time, as she either looked out at her backyard or fiddled with her-D-arc. A couple of times Naruto got the impression that Rika was about to throw away her D-arc only to recede at the last second. Naruto reframed from saying anything knowing that at the moment Rika didn't want to hear any sort of reassurances so instead just offered his silent support.
"Where could she be?" Rika asked out loud, Naruto remained silent as Rika continued to voice her concerns. "Why would she even go with him?" She questioned.
"You can ask Renamon after she comes back." Naruto stated surely.
"What if she doesn't?" Rika inquired voicing her worries, her hands trembling slightly. As if in response to Rika's fear her D-arc suddenly came to life the screen displaying the compass, the light coming off the screen illuminating Rika's stupefied face.
Naruto gave Rika a small warm smile. "Looks like we need to get going." The shinobi claimed as he stood up. "Coronamon, Patamon." He called his two partners the both of them appearing at his side, Calumon floating down beside them. "Time to go. It's time for Renamon to come home." Naruto said before looking back towards Rika and holding his hand out to her. "Ready?"
"Yeah," Rika answered, taking his hand.
Rika's D-arc eventually lead everyone to Shinjuku's National Sports Field, the whole arena being over taken by a Digital Field. Naruto and Rika having called Takato and Henry earlier to let them know to meet up with them.
"Are you all ready?" Naruto asked, though everybody knew there was no turning back at this point. Even still Tamer and Digimon alike gave a silent nod of confirmation. "Right, let's go."
Within the sports arena and the Digital Field the shadows of two figures could be seen moving around. The first was larger than the second and was moving across the open field. With each step, it took it left imprints in the ground behind it. Eventually the fog cleared enough to reveal Vajramon, completely healed from its battle with Rapidmon before and its journey crossing worlds.
The second shadow was far more graceful than the first, as it jumped through the air. Its silhouette was also feminine with a long tail following behind it. When the fog parted this time, it revealed Renamon standing on top of a rail overlooking the field.
From the ground Vajramon looked up at Renamon reverently taking in her form completely and utterly. "Beautiful. The way you move, it's poetry in motion." He said admiringly. His expression could best be called love-struck as he gazed at Renamon.
"Enough with the flattery," Renamon rebuked unmoved by the ox Digimon's words. "What do you want with me?" She questioned him impatiently. All day she had been kept waiting in the space between the Real World and the Digital one. Now nearly twenty-four hours later her patience was wearing thin.
Vajramon took a few steps closer to Renamon as he answered her. "I want..." He struggled for a moment, conflicted with what he really wanted from Renamon. "To talk." The Ultimate level Digimon finally got out. "Renamon, I have come to offer you a chance to change your destiny. Beautiful Renamon, I've asked you here because I believe you are worthy to serve our master, the magnificent Digimon Sovereign. Join us and the kingdoms of earth will be ours for the taking." Vajramon proposed holding his hand out to the kitsune Digimon.
Renamon hummed thoughtfully as if actually intrigued by Vajramon's proposal, getting a smug smirk from the Deva, before she continued to interrogate Vajramon. "This master that you speak of, the Digimon Sovereign, it is Zhuqiaomon. Is it not?" A smirk spread across Renamon's face when she noticed the surprised look that was now on Vajramon's face. "What's with that look? Did you think it was some sort of secret? In the entirety of the Digital World there are only four Digimon that hold the title of Sovereign and of those four only Zhuqiaomon is known to have an open distaste of humans."
For a couple of seconds Vajramon continued to stare at Renamon flabbergasted, his braining unable to comprehend that the yellow furred Digimon had been able to make the connection, before a large grin split across his face. "Beautiful and intelligent. You are a remarkable specimen Renamon." The ox Deva once more complimented Renamon. "It is true. I serve Lord Zhuqiaomon." Vajramon confirmed.
Renamon nodded her head before continuing. "Why now? Like I said Zhuqiaomon's feelings towards humans are hardly a surprise. So why is he choosing now to send you into the human world?" Renamon questioned. "I guess what I am asking is for what reason would I be fighting for him?"
Those words boosted Vajramon's confidence that Renamon would end up joining them, something he was almost desperate for, so he answered her. "You must understand that the state that things are right now are not natural. First in the East with those children and now here in the South. The barrier between the worlds is thinning. There is already trouble brewing in the Digital World. Lord Zhuqiaomon, in all his infinite glory, understands that unless he acts now we'd be fighting a war on two fronts. He sees humans for what they are greedy, selfish, and horrible creatures. If given the chance, there is no doubt in Lord Zhuqiaomon's mind that they would invade our world and claim it as their own. That is why we have to stop them before they have that chance." The Deva preached.
"A war on two fronts." Renamon murmured softly, closing her eyes thoughtfully. 'Could it be Lucemon. Are the Digimon Sovereign already aware of him.' She wondered. 'What about Calumon.' Renamon thought staring down at Vajramon through narrowly slit eyes. 'Are they aware of him.' "Sounds reasonable, destroy my enemies before they can destroy me. But how does your Digimon Sovereign plan to do that?"
"With our help." Vajramon stated. "We, the most powerful Digimon, will vanquish human kind"
'That really doesn't answer my question.' The kitsune Digimon muttered to herself.
Renamon was giving a chance to further question Vajramon since at that moment Calumon flew down towards Renamon, a joyous smile on his face. "Renamon!" The small white and purple Digimon shouted happily. "Everyone has been so worried about you! They're going to be happy to see you!" Calumon got off quickly before turning his attention to Vajramon below them. "A new friend?" He asked naïvely.
Renamon felt her body tenses the moment that Calumon revealed himself. "Calumon? You shouldn't be here." Renamon said with a hint of panic in her voice. Especially when she noticed the eager look that crossed Vajramon's face at the sight of the little creampuff.
"So, I was right." Vajramon said smugly. "The Catalyst really is here." Pointing out a Calumon, Vajramon continued speaking. "With the power of the Catalyst we can wipe out all humans and rule over both worlds! With Lord Zhuqiaomon leading us" Vajramon proclaimed fanatically.
"I won't let that happen." Renamon said, her fur bristling.
A look of confusion appeared on Vajramon's face before he glared up at Renamon. "Why?!" The Deva demanded. "Don't tell me you still hold some allegiance to those pathetic humans you've been shackled to!"
"I have someone that I have to protect. At all costs." Renamon answered simply. "And she has people who she needs to protect. So, sorry, but I have absolutely no interest in joining you. Nor will I allow you or your master to carry out your plans for this world."
Arriving at the field the Tamers and the other Digimon noticed the confrontation that was happening between Renamon and Vajramon.
"Um...he's a lot bigger than I remember." Takato said nervously, eyeing the ox Deva Digimon.
"You going to chicken on us, Goggle-Head?" Rika teased him, relief flooding through her body at the sight of Renamon.
"No!" Takato shouted back.
Terriermon poked a little more fun at Takato by clucking like a chicken, Henry immediately scolding his partner. Takato ended up dropping his head in depression when not even a second later Naruto started clucking too. The brunette Tamer almost ended up sinking to the ground when he heard the snickers coming from Coronamon, Patamon, and Terriermon. Takato thought it was better for his self-esteem if he didn't know what Rika and Henry's reactions were.
"What's the matter Takato?" Guilmon asked his partner innocently, not getting the joke the others were making.
"Nothing boy." Takato answered depressingly, as he petted Guilmon's head.
The relatively light atmosphere came to an end when Calumon flew down towards Vajramon before Renamon could stop him. Once Calumon was at ground level Vajramon didn't waste any time as he instantly lunged at the Light of Digivolution. Calumon just barely escaping his hold when he jumped over Vajramon's grasp. Renamon sped towards Calumon and got the In-Training Digimon away from Vajramon, before the Ultimate could make another attempt at capturing him.
Vajramon watched intensely as Renamon held Calumon protectively as realization dawned on the Deva. "You know what that Digimon is?" He accused, the way that Renamon held Calumon closer to herself and took a step away from the Ultimate confirming his accusation in his mind. Anger started boiling up within Vajramon as he glared at Renamon. "Hand over that Digimon to me now!" The Deva demanded.
Not a second later Vajramon let out grunt as he felt somethings slam against his back, not out of pain but from the unexpectedness of it. The moment that Vajramon made a move towards Renamon and Calumon the other Rookie level Digimon launched an attack on the Ultimate level Digimon. Looking over his shoulder Vajramon let out an annoyed huff when he saw the Rookie Digimon charging at him. "It's you pests." Vajramon muttered lowly, as he drew his swords.
DIGIVOLUTION
"Guilmon digivolve to... Growlmon!"
"Coronamon digivolve to… Firamon!
"Terriermon digivolve to… Gargomon!"
"Patamon digivolve to Angemon!"
Growlmon reached Vajramon first and swung one of his arms back. "Dragon Slash!" Energy gathered into the spikes on its elbows, the energy extending the spikes, before thrusting them forward. Growlmon's plasma infused spikes clashed against the Deva's swords the two coming to a momentary standstill, the wind kicking up around them. The deadlock only lasted for a second before Vajramon started to overpower Growlmon. With one final push of raw physical strength Vajramon broke the deadlock and forced Growlmon to take a couple of stumbling steps back. Not satisfied with letting things end there Vajramon moved towards Growlmon, while the reptile Digimon was still unsteady, before raising his front legs and slamming them on to Growlmon's unprotected chest.
Feeling the twin kicks landing on his chest Growlmon let out a shout of pain as he fell backwards.
"Hey, remember me?" Gargomon asked, coming up from behind Vajramon, pointing one of his gun arms at the Deva. "Gargo Laser!"
Vajramon felt the laser bullets hit his back, giving him a stinging sensation. Spinning around Vajramon lashed out with one of his swords. "Deva Blade!" Releasing an arc of energy, it flew from the blade heading for Gargomon.
Seeing the attack coming Gargomon dove forward barely dodging under the attack. The energy sailed past the Champion level Digimon and dug a trench into the ground where Gargomon had just been standing. Still lying on the ground Gargomon raised his arms and unleashed another volley of bullets at Vajramon.
The Ultimate level Digimon felt the bullets impacting with the bottom of his feet. Moving out of the way of fire Vajramon brought his other sword down. "Deva Blade!" The attack tore through the earth vertically heading quickly towards Gargomon.
"Fire Bomb!"
"Hand of Faith!"
The two attacks from Firamon and Angemon intercepted Vajramon's attack stopping it before it could reach Gargomon. When the smoke created by the attacks colliding disappeared it revealed Firamon and Angemon standing between Gargomon and Vajramon; Gargomon using the opportunity to pick himself up.
While the others were busy fighting Renamon made her way to the Tamers, releasing Calumon once she was sure that he'd be safe. Renamon stared silently at the Tamers, her gaze shifting between one to the other, before finally settling on Rika. "Rika," Renamon greeted her Tamer, trying to convey a deep sense of relief that she felt at being reunited with her partner.
Rika nodded her head in understanding, a smile on her face. "I'm glad you're okay." She told Renamon before a fire appeared in her eyes. "Ready to join the fun?" Rika asked the kitsune Digimon, grabbing her D-arc and a card.
"Gladly." Renamon confirmed.
DIGIVOLUTION
"Renamon digivolve to… Kyuubimon!"
Kyuubimon stood, her eyes closed, with the flames on her tails and feet glowing ethereally. Opening her eyes, for just a moment, they glowed with the same ethereal flames that licked at the tips of her tails and end of her feet. Turning to face Vajramon, Kyuubimon spread her tails out wide. "Fox Tail Inferno." The flames on the tip of Kyuubimon's tails suddenly gained life, the flames growing brighter, smiles, eyes, ears, and even whisker like markings appearing.
The wisps flew at Vajramon, the Deva looking them in confusion, surrounding him before exploding and consuming Vajramon in their pale blue fire.
Vajramon felt the fire burning at him, being forced to grit his teeth in order not to scream out. When the flames finally died away it left Vajramon with obvious signs of burns all along his body and armor; smoke and steam, from the heated metal, rising up off the Ultimate level Digimon. Turning to the one responsible the furious glare that he wore faltered as he took in Kyuubimon's appearance. "So, you Digivolved. You truly are beautiful, yet so lost. Join us Kyuubimon, be part of the new world order, or face the wrath of the Devas!" He pleaded with her.
"Never!" Kyuubimon snapped back.
"So be it!" Vajramon snarled swinging both of his swords. "Deva Blade!" He shouted firing twin arcs of energy at Kyuubimon.
Kyuubimon's fur bristled as she stood resolute with Rika and the other Tamers standing behind her. Rika seeing the attack coming quickly pulled out another card from her card holster before swiping it through her D-arc. "Digi-Modify… WarGreymon's Brave Shield Activate!" A shield baring the Crest of Courage materialized in front of Kyuubimon; erected to stand defiantly between the Tamers and Vajramon's attack. The shield proved its worth as belonging to the draconic Mega Digimon as it withstood Vajramon's attack without so much as a scratch.
"Damn it." Vajramon cursed seeing the shield standing in the way of him and his true target.
"Hey you bastard!" Firamon roared charging at the Ultimate level Digimon. "Don't ignore us! Fire Claw!" Fire covering his front paws Firamon lashed out at Vajramon striking the ox Deva in the side of his cheek. The wide smirk that had spread across Firamon's maw at striking Vajramon disappeared when the Deva barely even flinched at his attack and proceeded to retaliate with a punch aimed at Firamon. On instinct Firamon spread his wings and flew back away from Vajramon, using his Flame Dive to create a barrier when the sword that Vajramon was wielding tried to cut into him.
Angemon dove in next striking at Vajramon's chest with his staff, only to follow it up with a spin kick to Vajramon's head when it did nothing.
Growlmon, now back on his feet and recovered from his initial confrontation with Vajramon, opened his mouth wide as he gathered and condensed fire within it. "Pyro Blaster!" Growlmon unleashed the blast as a large wave that far exceeded the size of his normal attacks.
Vajramon crossed his swords in front of him to protect himself as best he could from Growlmon's attack. When the attack impacted, the Deva could feel his legs buckle slightly from the power of the attack before he pushed through it. "Deva Blade!" Vajramon unleashed a wave of energy from his blades that forced Growlmon's attack back. The two attacks then exploded violently destroying the ground beneath them and causing smoke to spread everywhere.
WarGreymon's shield disappearing Kyuubimon jumped into the fight joining the others. "What are we going to do?" Takato asked, his hands up against the winds caused by the explosion and goggles on to protect him from the smoke "Nothing we throw at him even affects him." He pointed out.
Henry nodded his head. "He definitely seems stronger then when we fought him at Akihabara." Henry agreed whole heartedly. It astounded Henry at the difference between now and when Vajramon first appeared.
Naruto watched Vajramon carefully, taking a careful note of every single one of his movements, looking for any weakness in the Deva. The way that he charged through their Digimon, slashing out with his swords and forcing the others to dodge, though made him look invincible. "His legs." Naruto decided outload. "Aim for his legs. We need to keep Vajramon from moving then we can attack." Naruto told them. The others nodded their heads in agreement. It wasn't much of a plan they realized, but it was something. "Guys!" Naruto shouted out to the Digimon.
"Yeah we heard you!" Gargomon shouted back, firing at Vajramon and then jumping to the side to avoid one of Vajramon's Deva Blade. "We're kind of busy here!" He finished, though he changed his target to the Deva's legs. With a new strategy Firamon and Angemon tried to keep Vajramon distracted enough by attacking him from above while the others focused on knocking him off his feet.
Even with their plan Vajramon wouldn't allow himself to be beaten that easily. The Deva countered their attacks with his swords or just charged through them reminiscent to a tank.
Gargomon, in an attempt to conserve ammunition, charged at Vajramon before throwing an uppercut aimed at the Deva' s snout. "Bunny Pummel!" The attack connected, but besides his head looking skyward Vajramon quickly recovered. Stabbing one of his swords into the ground, Vajramon snatched Gargomon out of the air with his free hand and slammed the Champion level Digimon hard into the ground, cracking the ground beneath him and creating a small crater. Eyes clenched from the pain coming from his back Gargomon opened his slowly only to gulp when he saw the Deva towering over him. "Henry!" Gargomon called out to his Tamer, trying not to put much mind to the sinister smirk that Vajramon wore. "I'm getting a terrible sense of Deja vu here!"
"Move away!" Henry advised obviously.
"Like I have much of a choice." The trigger-happy bunny muttered, as Vajramon picked up his sword and had them both pointed down at Gargomon.
Before Henry could start panicking like he did last time Rika held a card out in front of the Tamer. "Here use this." The redhead told him.
Taking the card Henry's eyes widened as he recognized the card. Without wasting any time Henry slashed the card through his D-arc. "Digi-Modify… Clone Activate!" Just as Vajramon brought his swords down on Gargomon the Champion level Digimon was obscured by a cloud of smoke. When Vajramon could see again he saw that his swords were stabbed into the ground without any evidence that he had managed to strike down his opponent.
"Ha! Ya missed!" Gargomon taunted, drawing Vajramon's attention and causing him to scowl seeing the rabbit looking perfectly unharmed.
"Okay I think that I've got an idea if we need to stop him." Henry said grabbing a card. "Digi-Modify… Digmon's Rock Cracking Activate!"
Suddenly Gargomon's hands changed into drills, three different drills on each hand. Gargomon had a gleeful smile on his face. "Rock Cracking!" The second that the drills hit the field a large fissure was created that was headed straight for Vajramon. The ox Deva tried to get out of the way of the fissure that Gargomon had created, only for one of his hind legs to get stuck at the last second. Vajramon tried to pull his leg free only to find his efforts useless.
"Terra Blade." With a heavy grimace Vajramon raised his front legs and swords and tried to bring them down onto the ground to create a second fissure, hopefully one that would see him released.
"Rasengan!" Naruto intervened in Vajramon's attempt to free himself, slamming two Rasengan onto Vajramon's unprotected back. The Deva roared in pain as he felt the attack grind away at his back, tearing at his armor and shattering it. Flipping over Vajramon, Naruto landed a chakra enhanced dropkick on the top of the Deva's head, causing the ox Digimon's eye to go momentarily white. Pushing himself away from Vajramon and landing on the ground Naruto spun around grabbed his D-arc and a card. "Everybody attack together!" The blonde Tamer ordered.
Simultaneously Naruto, Rika, and Takato slashed a card through their D-arcs. "Digi-Modify… Power Activate!"
Power coursed through four of the Champion level Digimon. Firamon, Kyuubimon, Growlmon moved to surround the Deva from three different sides while Angemon flew a little above them. The four Digimon gathered and focused the power that they had momentarily been granted before unleashing it.
Firamon gathered the flames before him and proceeded to unleash it at Vajramon. "Fire Bomb!" He roared, unleashing a large ball of fire.
Kyuubimon could feel the effects that the modify card had on her; her flames burning brighter, bigger, and stronger. Jumping into the air Kyuubimon started to spin around, her mystic blue flames completely surrounding her form. "Dragon Wheel!" From the flames a dragon of light blue flames formed, unleashing a roar, before charging at Vajramon.
"Pyro Blaster!" Growlmon unleashed a blast of concentrated fire that completely outstripped the one he had fired earlier.
Angemon watched for a moment, holding his staff in front himself, as the three different fire attacks closed in on Vajramon. Once they were close enough he added his own attack into the mix as he spun his staff rapidly. "Omni Typhoon!" The twister roared towards Vajramon, completely obscuring the Deva's form for a couple of seconds, tearing the swords he held loosely away from him, before the fire attacks reached the Ultimate.
Almost instantly a tornado of fire rose to the sky above. The flames an interwinding mixture of blue, orange, and red. The Tamers and Digimon stared in awe of the fire tornado, as they shielded themselves as best they could from the heat and winds. Vajramon's cries of pain also permeated the air his consciences returning to him, only to suffer from the burning flames.
After several minutes the flames started to die down. As the twister started to disperse the Tamers and their Digimon were hopeful that Vajramon would be nothing but a few flecks of data. Instead they witnessed Vajramon emerge from the dying flames, a couple of things about the Digimon that they all took note of immediately. The first was the severe burns marks that littered Vajramon's body and that were clearly evident even with the Deva's black fur. Secondly, it was particles of red data that were coming off the ox Digimon, evidence that the combination of attacks had severely hurt Vajramon. Then there was the sword that he was now carrying, larger than his other two swords. Finally, was his bare upper torso completely devoid of the orange armor that he had been wearing minutes before; and how it seemed Vajramon was barely keeping himself from breaking apart. Though it seemed to be limited to his upper body as the rest of him remained unaffected.
The Deva swayed where he stood, almost as if he was drunk, his appearance fluctuating as he moved side to side with the barest hint of static. What prevailed though was the burning hatred that he directed at the Digimon and their Tamers; especially at the Tamers. With a bestial roar the Deva imbedded his new sword into the ground. "Terra Blade!" The ground beneath Vajramon seemed to crater around him before exploding outward, unleashing a wave of energy through the ground.
Seeing the magnitude of the attack that Vajramon had unleashed Naruto rushed towards the others to make sure they didn't end up caught in the Deva's attack. Firamon and Angemon flew up high into the air to avoid Vajramon's attack. Kyuubimon, Growlmon, and Gargomon weren't so lucky. Kyuubimon managed to jump into the air and avoid most of the attack, but eventually she fell back down onto the earth and suffered from the aftershock of the Terra Blade. Mostly large rocks that were thrown up into the air. Pulling his sword out of the ground Vajramon slashed it through the air. "Deva Blade!" The energy wave flew at Firamon and Angemon causing them to scatter away from the attack, and forced to dodge Vajramon's follow up attacks.
The Tamers dusted themselves off of the dirt that Vajramon's Terra Blade. They watched as Vajramon attacked in a berserk rage, launching attacks that missed by a wide margin and ended up destroying the sports field. Seeing Kyuubimon pick herself up to continue fighting Rika was ready to support her partner however she could.
Pulling out a card from her holster Rika wasn't expecting draw a Blue Card. Rika stared at the card in surprise for a moment before a smirk appeared on her face. "A Blue Card." The redhead said out loud, causing the male Tamers to look at her and seeing Rika holding the Blue Card. With an excited glint in her eyes, and barely being able to keep a grin from spreading across her face, Rika held the card and D-arc ready. "Finally, now it's our turn. It's time to finish this." Rika said confidently. "Digi-Modify… Matrix Digivolution Activate!"
The red triangle on Calumon's forehead started to glow brightly alongside Rika's D-arc.
MATRIX DIGIVOLUTION
"Kyuubimon digivolve to..."
A blinding light engulfed Kyuubimon, drawing everyone's attention. While no one could make out Kyuubimon's form within the light it started to change radically. When the light died down Kyuubimon's new appearance left everyone with varying reactions, most notable was the look of pure hatred that Vajramon now sported. The fox Digimon now stood tall on her hind legs, missing her nine tails and now back down to one. She wore onmyōji clothing. A white shirt, with long cream colored sleeves, that hid her arms completely from view, with a Taoist symbol on her chest and the word 'Truth' written in golden Sanskrit beneath it. Purple hakama pants covered the lower half of her body. On top of her head was a black onmyōji hat with a purple cloth coming down the back, her ears coming out in front of the hat. From her shoulders were large armor like protrusions with the Taoist symbol and three red flames drawn on each one. Her face looked more human, lacking the maw that most animal had, with three purple diamond markings at the center of her forehead, and two lines of the same color under each eye.
"Taomon!" The newly Digivolved Ultimate Level Digimon cried out her name for everyone to hear.
Henry was the first one to snap out of his awe of Kyuubimon Digivolving to grab his D-arc and scan Taomon's data. "Taomon, Ultimate Data type Digimon." The half-Chinese Tamer started off, his gaze shifting between his screen and the actual live Digimon. "She is an onmyōji Digimon that freely uses every technique she's learned in battle. With her graceful appearance and high aptitude for magic her primary attacks are Thousand Spells and Talisman of Light." Henry finished reading.
"You've Digivolved." Vajramon muttered lowly. "Yet you took the appearance of such weak and insignificant creatures."
"You know this whole time you've been running your mouth," Taomon started disinterestedly. "But whatever gave you the impression that I care what you think?" She questioned him.
"That's rather cold." Naruto observed.
"Well what do you expect." Gargomon said, he and Growlmon having rejoined the Tamers once they had the strength to pick themselves up. "Did you forget who we're talking about here."
"Good point," Naruto agreed.
"Hey," Rika said warningly.
"Then tell me." Vajramon demanded angrily, now openly glaring at Taomon with absolute hatred. "What was the point of all this. Why agree to talk with me?" He asked her instead.
"Isn't it obvious?" Taomon returned. "You had information that I needed. Most of it was useless, some just confirmed what I was already aware of. The most important piece of information you gave us was the knowledge that the remaining Devas and Zhuqiaomon are aware of Calumon's existence." Taomon stated.
"You' deceptive wretch, once I finish with you I'll take care of your pathetic human!" Vajramon roared before charging at Taomon.
Eyes narrowing at the approaching Deva, Taomon summed a giant paintbrush from within her sleeves. Once Vajramon reached her Taomon blocked the swing of his sword with her paintbrush, the brush surprisingly not being cut in half by the blade. The two stood at a deadlock for a moment; Vajramon's greater strength nullified by the state that he was in. Taomon only held the stalemate for a moment longer before she broke it, spinning he brush so that Vajramon's sword ended up crashing into the ground. Lifting one arm off the brush Taomon held it out towards Vajramon. "Thousand Spells!" From her sleeve a mass of spell tags flew out all heading towards the Deva, which upon making contact with the ox they started to detonate. The first few explosions were small in size, but the further the explosions pushed Vajramon away from Taomon the stronger they became.
Vajramon let out a groan of pain as he felt Taomon's Thousand Spells tearing away at him with each explosion. Through sheer force of will, and the absolute rage that he was feeling towards Taomon, Vajramon managed to keep himself from being deleted. Though flecks of data were now streaming off of him, causing a slight red haze to surround the ox Digimon. With both hands on the sword he summoned he slashed the blade upwards. "Deva Blade!"
With Vajramon's attack racing towards her Taomon jumped into the air, using her powers to stay afloat. In a graceful arch Taomon moved over the attack and Vajramon, landing behind the Deva. Yet before Vajramon could even turn around to face her Taomon had already lifted her brush and swiped it across the open air, drawing a symbol in mid-air. "Talisman of Light!" The symbol shined brightly for a second before racing towards Vajramon, appearing on the Ultimate level Digimon's back.
Vajramon roared in pain as the attack tore through his body, looking down at his chest Vajramon could see the same symbol appearing there. Eventually Taomon's attack completely ripped through Vajramon causing the Deva to finally explode into data.
Once the Digital Field had started to dissipate the Tamers and their De-Digivolved exited the sports arena. Rika watched silently as the others left before her, Naruto wishing her a quick goodnight and giving her an even quicker kiss on the cheek that left her blushing lightly, with Renamon. Renamon waited patiently on a stone pillar, knowing that Rika wished to talk to her about something without the others overhearing them.
After a couple of seconds of gathering her thoughts Rika spoke up. "So, you're back." The redhead stated rather than asked her partner, but getting a nod from Renamon either way to alleviate Rika of any of her doubts. "I'm quite pleased with your latest Digivolution." Rika claimed.
With Rika not even looking in her direction at the moment Renamon didn't even attempt to hide the smile that her partner's statement caused. Knowing that while it was undoubtedly true, that wasn't what Rika was most happy about. Even now Rika had trouble being honest about her emotions. "Thank you, Rika." Renamon answered, looking up at the full moon. "It is sure to play a valuable part in defeating the Devas." The fox Digimon prophesied.
Rika nodded her agreement. "Yeah, I hope you're right." Rika said. "You did a good job, Renamon. Finding out that the Devas know about Calumon. That little creampuff is already nothing but trouble, now we're going to have to keep an even closer eye on him." She muttered rubbing her head in exasperation, before her smile returned as she finally looked up at Renamon. "But you know what impresses me the most?" Rika questioned her partner.
Renamon looked at her Tamer curiously. "No, tell me." She answered.
Rika smiled brightly at her partner. "How heroic you look right now, standing in the moonlight." The amethyst eyed Tamer revealed.
Renamon blinked a couple of times in surprise before she found herself laughing. "Is that so?" Renamon mused. "Even more so then Naruto when he appeared to fight Icedevimon?" The yellow furred Digimon asked teasingly.
Rika's blush returned as she remembered when Naruto appeared on top of the dome of ice when Icedevimon had kidnapped her. It was a night that she was never going to forget. "Well you definitely look just as cool." She promised her partner. "Hey," Rika continued. "Don't let Baka-Fishcake know I thought he looked cool, okay? That idiot already has enough of a bighead." Rika told her partner, a slight grin on her face, as she began to leave the stadium as well.
"Of course, Rika." Renamon agreed gently.
"Good. Let's go home." Rika decided. "Mom and Grandma want to meet you."
Once more Renamon was surprised, having forgotten that she appeared in front of Rumiko when the leader of the thugs had attacked Rika. At that moment, all that she had been thinking about was protecting Rika. "Right," Renamon said sounding just a little bit distracted.
Returning to his home Naruto had been ready to just climb into bed and fall asleep, and he was sure that Patamon and Coronamon felt the same way. As such he was more than a little annoyed that Yamaki was waiting for him outside his apartment building. Annoyingly opening and closing his lighter.
"What do you want Yamaki?" Naruto asked the man, almost growling his question out. Coronamon and Patamon appearing beside Naruto a second later.
Yamaki closed his lighter one last time before answering, his attention completely focused on Naruto and surprisingly ignoring Coronamon and Patamon's presence completely. "Is that any way to speak to your elders?" The blonde-haired man questioned Naruto snidely.
Naruto smirked in response. "You'd be surprised at how I normally talk to my elders, old man." The Uzumaki shot back.
One of Yamaki's eyebrow twitched at the name. "I guess you really can't expect anything more from someone without pare-!" Yamaki started only for him to be cut off when Naruto suddenly appeared in front of him, slamming him against the wall of his building by the lapels of his suit. Yamaki let out a strangled gasp as he stared into Naruto's angry slitted eyes. 'How is he so fast?!' Yamaki questioned internally. He was sure he hadn't blinked, yet one second Naruto was standing several feet away from him the next he was being pressed against the wall.
"If your smart you won't mention my parents again." Naruto warned, with a glare fixed on Yamaki, his voice hard. "Now, tell me what you want Yamaki?" Naruto ordered, slamming Yamaki against the wall one more time before letting him go. While it hadn't been insulting towards his parents, Naruto still found himself taking what Yamaki said a personally.
Once he was released Yamaki instinctually took a couple of steps away from Naruto, smoothing out his suit as he did so. "What the hell are you?" Yamaki asked eyeing the teen carefully. No human should be that fast.
Naruto smirked. "You couldn't even begin to imagine." The shinobi taunted, causing Yamaki to scowl.
"I came here to talk." Yamaki eventually answered. "About the fact that because of you and your friends, along with your pet abominations, the existence of Digimon is out." The blonde agent stated.
