A/N: So, after a very long break, I am back and updating all my stories. I've lost all my documents so my plot for this story is only what I can remember and I've re-read my story, planned a little bit ahead, and am happy to be writing once again! I hope you guys all enjoy and as always please leave a review to let me know what you think and if I should continue! All songs in this chapter I do not own!
"How long how long will I slide,
Separate my side I don't.
I don't believe it's bad,
slit'in my throat.
It's all I ever,"
Caroline felt good - no - she felt great for once in a while. These past couple weeks since the breakup had gone in such a blur, leaving her in a horrible mood. The only new, good think that had happened recently was her new found relationship with Rebekah but everything else had been a crumbled mess, to be honest. But all of that didn't matter because the winter dance was coming up and Caroline would make sure she got her theme this year.
"Winter Wonderland," She said through pursed lips, flipping some blonde hair off her shoulder. She was sitting in the board room surrounded by no more than five people at most. She had been here for almost an hour discussing everything that had to be done in order to prepare for the dance and the one thing that was holding back the teens from going home was the theme of the dance.
"That theme is overdone," Elena commented back, striking a nerve in Caroline.
She gritted her teeth before asking, "And what do you suppose we do, Elena?"
And as if Elena was waiting for Caroline to ask her this whole time - which she most likely was - she beamed and said, "Whimsical Winter; It can be all decorated like fairy tale fables and we can have all the servers be dressed up as fairies, knobs, princess, and - "
"And vampires and witches too?" Caroline cut in and Elena visibly flinched at her commentary. Elena was still playing the whole lost puppy since she got changed almost two months ago. "We're doing Winter Wonderland, Elena, not some stupid fairy tale dance."
The two girls had a stare off, neither one of them wanting to back down and let the other girl win. There was a huff of air and one of the stray junior girls begged for them to come to agreement and Rebekah, whom had just been sitting there silently, finally decided to speak up.
"Winter Wonderland seems like a splendid idea," She said as Elena sent her a dirty look before adding, "And I'm sure Elena can pick our next themed dance. Isn't that compromise enough?" She asked with an arched eyebrow, challenging her.
Elena knew better than to start with both Caroline and Rebekah when everyone was clearly annoyed already but it angered her. Rebekah shouldn't even be here! She had compulsed her way into the meeting by convincing all the other humans that she had been apart of the committee since it was joined.
Elena didn't care much about the theme of the dance. No, what she cared more about was the way Caroline was acting. She barely spent time with her and it was always Rebekah this and Rebekah that. The brunette was not used to being turned down and shut off like that. She was always, for a lack of better words, the center of the attention. She was the number one choice not some thousand year old British brat.
She refused to be replaced, and better yet, she refused to be replaced by a Barbie replica. Rebekah and Caroline were practically clones of each other. Where is the diversity?
"Fine," Elena growled eventually, standing up dramatically while scooping up her belongings before walking out of the room, letting the door swing shut abruptly behind her.
Caroline rolled her eyes and scribbled down the theme of the dance, annoyed that it had taken Elena so long to just agree but she couldn't help but let a small smile creep to her lips. She was finally not second best to Elena.
"I hear your voice through a photograph,
I thought it up it brought up the past.
Once you know you can never go back,
I've got to take it on the otherside."
Rebekah unlocked her car as she walked alongside Caroline, their pace matching in their equally as stealthy high heels. She had finally felt a sense of welcoming in the little town of Mystic Falls once landing a position as one of Caroline's friends. The minute Caroline said she liked her was the minute that Bonnie Bennett started calling her by her first name, Jeremy Gilbert smiled her in the hallway, Stefan Salvatore made civil talk with her once again, Matt Donovan actually tolerated her, and Elena Gilbert began to hate her even more than she ever did.
"What's the plan for today?" She asked almost absentmindedly as she slid into the front seat, Caroline flanking her on the passenger seat. "Because if any of your plans involve me I'll be sad to let you know that I'm all booked up."
Caroline raised an eyebrow, "Really now? And who is booking up you so early into the day? I thought I was the only one that could spare to be in your company for so long." She said jokingly and the elder vampire shot her a silly look as she began to pull out of the parking lot.
"I'll have you know that as a good student to our high school I am now tutoring a fellow senior that is risking the rate of failing out graduating class." Rebekah informed her with a proud smile, actually pleased with herself. When she had told Nik what she was doing he had joked that there must be some ulterior motive because there was no way that Rebekah could be doing something nice for someone else.
She quickly shot him down by throwing a table at his face and telling him to shut his fat mouth.
"Interesting," Caroline commented with a nod before shrugging. "I don't actually have anything planned though I haven't payed your brother a visit in a long time. How is he handling the whole problem of his?"
Rebekah shrugged as she thought back to her brother. He had no control over himself and it scared him to no end though he was trying to get better. There were certain glimpses where he'd get it and it'd just go away and slip from his hands.
"He's been..well, He's Nik so I don't know what you're expecting me to really tell you." She said honestly and both girls laughed a little bit.
"I felt bad about not being there to help him this past week," Caroline admitted.
Her mother, Liz, had been keeping her on lockdown in the house since she was barely home now-a-days and Liz wanted to spend some quality time with her without vampires looming around every corner.
"So," Caroline continued to talk. "I did some research about his problem and I may or may not have nicked some witchy books from Bonnie."
"What a badass we have over here," Rebekah joked as she turned down Caroline's street. "Why would you need a Witch's book for a halfbreed problem?" She asked after a moment.
Caroline ran her fingers through her hair, unbuckling herself as they pulled up her driveway. "I thought it was odd that he has had this ability to transform into his wolf self all his life but has never been able to grasp it so I did my research on the binding spell that made him a hybrid and I found some interesting stuff that could help him figure out how to control his transformation."
Rebekah peaked at her information, nearly beaming, "Well? Go on and spill,"
There was a beat of silence before Caroline finally spoke again. "I don't feel comfortable telling Klaus this, okay?"
She furrowed her eyebrows but nodded, wanting her to tell her more. She couldn't be left hanging like this. She needed to know. It was essential.
"There's a spell that can be preformed that will help bond his wolf side and his vampire side together so they are more conjoined and so he can control them both instead of just one."
"Not another spell," She groaned. "How many salt stars will we have to dance in this time?" She asked sarcastically.
"Not salt stars - but I wish." Caroline said with a disgruntled look. "You'd need blood, and a lot of it."
"So, easy, just hit up the blood bank."
"Not exactly, Rebekah, you need certain blood. Blood of a vampire, blood of a witch, blood of a werewolf, and blood of a human. You need blood from every aspect of your being. He was born human with a witch as a mother and a werewolf as his father, he was killed and turned into a vampire therefore he needs blood from all of them."
"And then he'll be okay? He'll be able to control everything." She asked with furrowed eyebrows, contemplating how long and how much trouble it would cause to preform it.
Caroline noticed her face and regretted telling her almost immediately, "Yes, but it's not something we can consider."
"And why not?" She scoffed.
"Because you can't just use a pinch of blood. You need all their blood. That means four dead people and think about it. We may be able to find a vampire we don't mind but I'm not okay with killing innocent humans and how many werewolves and witches do we know?"
Rebekah saw the flaw in the plan but she knew if she told her brother he would not care at all. He wanted what he wanted. "Fine - we can find a criminal that isn't innocent. Someone already on death row and for the rest well...Your boyfriend cheated on you so we can use him or...or his little wolf girlfriend. For the witch problem, well, I'm sure Bonnie would assist us in finding another witch if she knew her life was at stake."
Caroline was shocked to hear her speak like this and it freaked her out. "Rebekah, stop, this can't be done." She said sharply with a frown itched on her face. "Promise me you won't tell Klaus about this, okay? You know he can't be trust with something like this."
Rebekah didn't want to but she still promised her.
"Thank you," She said as she opened the door. "I'll look into other ways to help him but we can't use this one. It'll be our little secret." Caroline said before departing and leaving the car.
Rebekah watched her with lingering eyes. Caroline Forbes may be her friend but she should know that blood runs thicker than water and Rebekah is never good to her word. Nearly five minutes later and breaking a speeding rule, Rebekah flounced into her house with a beaming smile.
"Oh, Niklaus, come out! I've got just amazing news!"
"Take it on the Otherside."
