Chapter 4: Something Old, Something New

It was a warm, sunny day in the summer of Odaiba when two small figures ran around an old oak tree, one chasing the other in the age old game of tag. The two young children ran about, laughing in delight and pleasure. The two were a unbreakable pair, having played with each other almost every day since they had met. It had been about a year since then.

The duo, who were each around five and a half years old, were Takuya Kanbara and Kari Kamiya. Takuya, who was currently 'it' is currently chasing the girl he has decided that was his best friend. Kari was laughing as she dodged Takuya's hand once more. "Nyah nyah, you can't catch me~" She teased, sticking her tongue out at the boy who suddenly grinned evilly, suddenly leaping forwards with surprising speed, grasping her midriff and sending them into a spiraling mass on the ground.

The two children started laughing, not even caring that they were now covered in dirt from head to toe. "Looks I got ya Kari!" Takuya laughed, untangling himself from on top of the girl and laying down next to her, who was now relaxing and looking up at the cloudy sky. They just sat there in complete silence, before Kari broke it with a sudden accusation. "Look at that one!" She suddenly said, pointing towards a large cloud, floating on by. "It looks like my brother!" She laughed, seeing the boys unruly mop of hair and goggles shaped in the clouds.

Takuya squinted for a moment, as if trying to see it before his eyes widened as big as saucers. "Wow! It really is Tai!" He said, laughing. He pointed to the one right next to the Tai-looking one. "That one looks like your whistle!" Takuya said, the cloud shaping a bit more until it looked perfectly like a whistle.

Kari laughed as well, giving a bit of awe that it did look a lot like her whistle. "Look! That one looks like a..." They game continued on, each cloud in the sky eventually having been called a certain object, animal or person. They two of them didn't even really care that they had spent almost three hours lying in the grass of their favorite park, just watching the clouds roll by.

For each other, they were the first friend they had ever made. Neither of them complained, not even one bit. They simply enjoyed being near one another.

After a while, just as Takuya was going to pick out another cloud shape, Kari's quiet voice stopped him. "Hey...Takuya?"

Turning to look directly into Kari's deep brown eyes-where they always such a pretty color? He wondered- "Yeah Kari?"

The girl fidgeted for a minute, rolling back and forth before finally blurting it out. "You.. you wont stop being my friend, right? Even if I become boring or something else..." Takuya's eyebrow rose. THATS what she was worried about? That he might leave her alone if she changed? Takuya couldn't help it. A giggle escaped his mouth, before another slipped out, then he gave in and began to laugh.

Kari looked horrified. What was she going to do? Was he gonna-?

"Hehehe...That's really funny Kari.." He laughed, confusing her. "No matter how much Kari changes, if you get boring or even more fun, Kari is still Kari, my best friend." Kari smiled, suddenly realizing what he meant. Holding onto his hand, she pulled him up off the ground, dusting herself off with one hand. "C'mon Taki, lets go find some Ice cream!" She exclaimed, dragging the young boy along. "I told you not call me thattt-"

Takuya awoke with a start, jolting upright in surprise. Another dull pulse of pain ran through his head, the headache from before once again continuing. Again..another dream about this girl...He thought, shaking his head to try and loosen the headache. It was unsuccessful, as the more he thought of the dream-or was it a memory? He didn't know, but the headache seemed to get worse.

Looking around, he smiled slightly, remembering the days past events. After Turuiemon had explained the whole situation and they decided to help this world once again. The group had died down and began to sit around the cabin, as the champion level celestial digimon told them that it would be a while before they reached their destination and current base for their forces: The Castle of the Rose Morning Star, built over the remains of his former, twisted castle, which he informed that the new one was nothing like the former.

Looking outside and seeing the familiar three moons in the sky, Takuya sat up quietly, trying his best to avoid awaking the others. Wrapping his crimson jacket that he had been using as a makeshift blanket around his form once more, Takuya walked over to the door, creaking open only enough for him to slip through. He needed some fresh air.

Stepping out into the cold night air, Takuya shivered for a second before his body heat kicked in, making it much more bearable than before. Dark Trailmon had slowed down, not moving as fast as they had during the day, making easy for Takuya to move around without struggling to stay balanced. Climbing up and onto the roof of the cart, He laid back down, watching silently as the stars rolled by. Had also done this with Kari? Maybe he had- but he couldn't remember for the life of him. It was weird though, he usually remembered friends quite well. For him to just not even recall her was..unsettling.

"You seem troubled, Takuya Kanbara." Dark Trailmon's voice rang out over the sound of his engine, surprising the brunette that he knew he was there. Then again, isn't the whole train his body? Of course he would know if I moved or not. He realized. Snapping out of his stupor once more, he tried to wave it off, but then decided it was a good idea to get someones opinion on it. Even if that person was a talking, digital train monster.

"Dark Trailmon...Have you ever forgotten someone important to you?" He asked. The train seemed to slow down for a moment, as if recalling something before speeding up once again. "Digimon have extraordinary life spans, Takuya Kanbara. Trailmon have even longer ones. I have seen my fair share of adventurers, digimon of all kinds and now humans as well." His monotone voice seemed to have a small hint of sadness in it. "But, I cannot say that I recall friends I once had. The effect of their presence in my life has stayed attached, but their face, name and even my times with them..they escape my memory. It saddens me to think of it." Takuya was surprised, to say the least. He knew that digimon lived a long time, but the way Dark Trailmon seemed to describe it sounded like he had been alive since the very first war.

"Wow.." He gasped, snapping out of his stupor once again. "Well, apparently I've forgotten a large amount of my early life. Just this morning I learned that I lived in a city a fair distance away from my current home, yet I don't remember a single bit of it." He said, clutching his head with his left arm as the headache flared up. "Its like there is a barrier every time I try to think about it. But I've begun to have..dreams about someone who I know was important to me, I just don't know in what way." He explained. It was frustrating, to see these images of his younger form playing with a young girl who's name he only knew because his younger form had said it.

Dark Trailmon seemed to ponder this, absorbing the information. " Fate must really like you, Takuya Kanbara, for such an experience." Takuya's eyebrow raised in confusion. "Few who forget that which was important to them recall that person. Your comrade, he who wields the spirits of darkness, is one such person. His mind was almost but smothered by that persona of evil. Yet his brother, who he at that time did not recall was able to return to him his sense of humanity with only his name."

The hat-wearing teens eyes widened. He was right. If Kouichi hadn't recognized Kouji at that very moment, their quest would have stopped right there and they would have all lost their spirits, and possibly could have died.

"Do not let this go to waste. Embrace those memories, but heed warning, do not let them overtake you." Now Takuya was even more confused. First he says to embrace the memories, then not too?

"What he's trying to say is be careful." Takuya's head whipped around, surprised at seeing Turuiemon standing there, his arms crossed. "Memories are a powerful thing. Repressed ones are even stronger." He finished. "So what, I should not worry about them?" He asked. The rabbit shook his head. "Listen. Repressed memories are different from normal ones because certain things can trigger them. It could be fear, doing a certain action or even seeing the person you forgot once again." He lectured, explaining the things that Takuya needed to know. "One last thing; if your in a middle of a battle and the memories start surface, you need to run."

"What!?" Takuya exclaimed."Why?!" He's done his best to never from his fights after the Flamemon incident. Running from them didn't solve them, so he had to face them head on. "Because it could be dangerous. Think about it, what if the enemy does an attack and you suddenly start seeing false images flash before your eyes? You would freeze up." Turuiemon stated. Takuya calmed down at that, seeing the point quite clearly.

"Anyway," The digimon yawned, covering his mouth as he did so."We need to sleep. We have a long day ahead of us tomorrow and the sun won't stay down forever." With that final declaration, Takuya nodded and turned back to the dark sky, pondering this new information before sliding back down, wanted to be fully rested when they reached their destination. Suddenly struck with what Dark Trailmon said, he jumped over and rested his hand on the back of him. "Hey, since you don't remember any of your friends, why don't you become ours? Your a really nice guy and you shouldn't deserve being alone." Takuya grinned, waving good bye before reentering his cabin, not noticing that Dark Trailmon seemed to move just a bit faster.

Six hours later, in the other plane of existence called the human world, a young girl slowly awoke, turning in her bed before rolling over a wet spot on her pillow, jolting her attention and waking her up. Feeling the wetness still attached to her face, she pulled her arm out from under her bed partner and touched it, feeling the coldness of tears. "Crying? Why was I..." She mumbled, trying to recall why she was crying before it struck her once again, a wave of sadness.

"Takuya.." She whispered, remembering him being attack by a wild devidramon and disappearing. After rushing home, the Kamiya's had messaged everybody, telling them of the news and stating that they all needed to meet up the next day at their place, to discuss what they were going to do now. Any wild digimon in Japan was their problem, and it attacking an old friend made it a bit more personal.

Returning to the outside world, Kari wiped the tears off her face for now. They were going to find Takuya, she was not going to believe that he had perished in that attack. He was stronger than that! Plus, he wasn't the kind of person that would want her moping around.

Trying her best to not awake her feline companion, Kari did a quick check of the time before sliding out of bed, stretching and walking towards the bathroom. By now Tai had probably gone for his early morning run, and Agumon was on the roof doing his own small laps, as the rookie level digimon couldn't walk around town without people freaking out. After their second journey in the digital world, most of the digidestined made sure to keep themselves physically fit, in case another problem arose and they didn't want to be rusty at a bad time.

Kari knocked on the bathroom door twice, checking to see if anyone was in there before entering. She had three hours before the rest of the digidestined arrived, so she was going to make the most of it.

After a long, hot shower and waking up Gatomon, Kari walked into the kitchen to make their breakfast, as she couldn't trust anything her mother cooking, as only Agumon and Izzy could eat it and not have any side effects and Tai only knew how to burn things.

"I like my eggs crispy." She giggled to herself, remembering the time Tai had said that after he burnt his eggs and ate them anyway, making her wince on the very first bite when there was a sickening crunch.

Pulling out the mix from a shelf, she turned and held the box out to Gatomon. "How does pancakes sound?"

The two hours passed by in a flash, and the first person began knocking at her door. Tai and Agumon were playing a card game on the table to pass the time, and surprisingly, Agumon was winning from the looks of it. "I'll get it!" She chirped, walking over to the door and opening it. "Kari I got your message, what happened are you hurt?" Davis Motomiya, the digidestined of miracles prodded. Kari giggled, amused at the teens subconscious protective brother side. From behind him, Cody sighed, shaking his head back and forth. "I should have come with Ken...or Yolei..." He mumbled, giving the girl a small wave. "Hi Kari. How are you?" Cody greeted, being his usual polite self.

Davis hadn't really changed all that much in four years, his personality was as clueless as ever. Physically, he had gotten taller, rising over Kari but not even with Tai in height. His reddish brown hair was longer and much shaggier than before. Tai's old goggles still gleamed on his head, having obviously been polished and cleaned many times. His outfit looked similar to his old digital world outfit. Davis was wearing a short sleeved dark blue jacket with a high collar with grey fur on it with a cream colored shirt underneath. His pants were a dark green color, along with wearing golden sneakers.

Cody had kept his old hair cut, keeping short and out of his eyes for when he was practicing kendo. His clothes were still slightly professional, wearing a red button up shirt with a white tee underneath with his D-3 kept around his neck upside down, like how Kari used to wear her camera.

"Hi guys!" Kari smiled, motioning for them to come in. "You guys are first. I'm actually surprised that you came here first Davis, your usually last." She teased, making the boy frown and cross his arms with a huff. "I'm not that bad! Besides, you said that something really important happen and you sounded worried." Davis explained, giving the girl an odd look. "...you are okay, right?" He pressed.

Kari frowned for a moment, remembering yesterdays incident before waving it off. "I'll be fine.." She reassured. The digidestined of miracles didn't look all that believing of her story, but he accepted it for now and walked inside, Cody giving her and odd look as he two removed their bags and from them their in-training level partners popped out, and began rolling around the room. Davis almost instantly perked up when he saw his idol Tai, and began talking about the current soccer season.

A few minutes passed, and the door was knocked on again. Kari got up again, opening the door and was almost pushed over when Izzy ran into the room, looking everywhere for something. "Tai, where's you nearest plug? I'm tracking something on my laptop and its running low on batteries. Shutting it down will lose the signal-" Tai cut him off, pointing towards the plug on the wall near the sofa. His attention directed elsewhere, the redhead dashed to the wall, pulling his charger out from seemingly nowhere and was now typing away, eyes glued to the screen.

From behind him, Joe laughed lightly. "Izzy been's talking about that thing hes been tracking since I met up with him. I've got to say, its gotten me quite curious to what it is. He said he wouldn't tell me until he tracked it to its source or something." He explained, causing Tai to laugh as well. "Same old Izzy." He stated, recalling the Diaboromon incident, when Izzy was the only one who noticed and came rushing over with his computer. "Izzy says that its a digital anomaly, something he found when doing a daily scan yesterday evening." Tentomon explained, entering the room from behind Joe. He went down and began conversing with Agumon, while Gomamon amused the two in-training digimon of the others.

A knock on the door a few minutes later made Tai finally get up from his spot, dusting off his pants. "My turn to get it." He said, heading to the door. Upon opening it, an orange blur leaped forward, glomping Tai and landing on the floor on top of him. Dazed, Tai look up to see a giggling teenage girl with bright orange hair tied up in a high ponytail, with two familiar bangs laying down on his face along with two dark brown eyes, sparkling in the light with mischief.

"Tai! Its been a while!" Mimi Tachikawa smiled, giving him a big, long hug that made the teen blush at the close contact, not to mention the two soft 'mounds' pressing into his chest through her loose, shoulder-less white shirt. Mimi was always one for close, personal contact. He thought. "H-hi Mimi." He greeted, not really sure how to respond in this type of situation. She looked as if she was going to do something else before some one dropped a arm-bag on her head, making the red flower clip she had stuck in her hair fall and hit the floor.

"C'mon Mimi, your not here just to glomp Tai..I hope.." Sora teased, pulling back her bag from Mimi's head. From behind her, Matt and T.K. snickered, earning them a glare from both of the brunettes laying on the ground. Mimi turned to Sora and gave her a pouting face. "But its funnnn! Besides, getting a reaction out of Tai is also very funny.." She gave a mischievous look, and sensually ran a finger up Tai's chest, making him blush even more underneath her and causing him to squirm, causing Mimi to giggle again. So cute! Tai is so easy to tease..She mused. Note to self, tease Tai a lot more in the future...

Sora huffed, and walked over to their balcony, opening the door as Biyo and Patamon flew in, while Palmon had lowered herself down from the roof, holding on to Gabumon. "Who's left to show up?" She questioned. "Just Yolei and Ken are left." Kari replied, petting Gatomon like a cat for some reason, and was purring in delight. Two knocks on the door suddenly rang out. "Speak of the devil." She said, getting up to answer the door. Upon opening it, the purple haired couple gave a wave at their host. "Hello Kari, I hope were not late?" Ken greeted, giving a slight bow to her. Ken, while having becoming a friendlier and more outspoken person, was still polite as he had first been. Yolei had been a good influence on him.

"Actually, your the last to arrive, come on in!" She greeted, opening the door so the two could walk in. The two in training level digimon in their arms, disguised as stuffed animals suddenly sprung to life, leaping towards the other two intraining level digimon in the room and began to play. "Poromons been a bundle of energy lately." Yolei sighed, slumping down in the last open chair. "I've barely gotten any sleep.." She moaned, rolling over to snuggle Ken's leg, who was sitting on the arm of the chair.

"Anyway!" Tai said, clapping to get everyone attention except Izzy's, who was still typing away on his laptop. "Let get down to business, do you guys know why your here?"

"It has to do with that Devidramon in Shibuya, right?" Ken asked, suddenly the center of attention as about half the heads in the room turn to him with surprise in their eyes. "WHAT!?" Davis exclaimed, having only come because Kari had messaged him to. "There was a Devidramon in Shibuya?! What did it do?!"

"It attacked six teenagers and now they've disappeared." Izzy stated without even looking up from his keyboard. "We are here because of them, right?" He questioned, finally looking up to Tai, who nodded in agreement. "Of course, we have to find out things about this, like why there was a Devidramon in Shibuya, but there is a more..personal matter as well." He said, looking grim.

"Personal matter?" Mimi asked, wondering why he suddenly had taken a depressing tone. The brunette looked to Kari, who nodded and pulled out an old, faded picture. and laid it out on the table. The group inched closer, confused at why they were seeing a picture of a young boy with spiky brown hair and chocolate brown eyes holding out a v-sign with his fingers, standing next to a younger Kari.

"Hey, I remember him! Thats little Taki!" Sora exclaimed, suddenly realizing who that kid was. The original digidestined besides Joe, who also sat back with a grim expression took a closer look, leaning in to see the boy before realization struck them all. T.K. snickered, remembering Sora's old nickname for the young boy. "He really hated being called that, y'know." He explained, not noticing the younger digidestined look at the group and back to the picture and again and again, stumbling to figure out the connection.

"Its been what, almost eight years since we've seen him?" Matt mused, thinking back to the very last time he saw Takuya. The boy had left quite a impression on the group, Matt had almost begun to even start calling him 'mini Tai' in his head.

"Sorry, but who is this person?" Ken asked, sliding the picture over towards him and Yolei, who were eyeing the faded picture. "Ah! I almost forgot you weren't there when we were younger." Tai said, pointing to the boy in the picture. "That boy there is Takuya Kanbara. He's a an old friend of ours, and Kari's first friend."

"He was also Kari's first c-" Sora had a hand covering her mouth faster than she could blink. Turning her head, she gave a sly grin underneath the hand to the blushing Kari, who had put the hand there. Davis looked confused, still not understanding but feeling slightly jealous of the boy. "So? Whats so special about him?" He asked.

At this, Tai turned to Kari, who nodded and continued the story. "On the news, there were pictures of the six teens that went missing. The very last picture, was a teen, wearing a tan hat and square goggles with brown spiky hair and brown eyes." She said, and the room went deathly silent. The entire room, minus the three who already knew and their partners, had various expressions of surprise and fear.

"T-takuya was attacked..by a Devidramon?" Izzy stuttered. He had known that the teens were attacked by a digimon, but to attack someone he had been friends with was..unforgivable. "Are you-are you sure?" T.K. said, obviously thinking there had to have been a mistake, there was no way that Takuya would just let himself be-!

Tai said nothing, but pulled out another picture, and laid it out on the table next to the first. This time, it was the picture from the news. It was almost painstakingly obvious that the two people were the same person. The group suddenly sprung into action.

"Well then, I guess we just have to look for him!" Matt exclaimed, getting a nod from his girlfriend and brother. "Yeah, there's no way little Taki would just let himself be defeated by someone like this. He probably escaped by a hairs breath. " Sora added, looking over the picture in the news once again. Kari and Tai smiled, realizing that this was going to be their reaction a long time before this meeting had even happened.

"Besides that," Yolei said, sitting up in her chair. "Takuya would probably know why Devidramon targeted him in the first place, maybe he knows where an open portal is!" Joe held his hand up in response to that. "Actually..." he started, becoming the center of the rooms attention. "I didn't know who they were at the time, but I saw them on the train in Shibuya when I was passing by for my medical seminar. But, sitting two people down from Takuya was a girl, holding a Lopmon, that Takuya and the rest of the people sitting on the seat kept making frequent glances at. Of course, those people turned out to be the other missing teens." He said, adjusting his glasses with his hand in a lecturing type manner. "So, we think it might have been a new digidestined incident."

"WHAT!?" Davis exclaimed. "But I'm the leader of the new digidestined! I thought that there would be no more new digidestined after Ken!" He ranted. True, Davis was leaving out the few children chosen by Oikawa to hold the Fake dark spores that had gained D-3's and their own partners, but due to a fit of paranoia from the parents had them all shipped out of Japan to live in a 'safer' environment.

"Actually, I was digidestined before you were Davis. Remember?" Ken lightly poked him in the side of his head, causing the childish boy to pout. "Still though, Davis is right." he added, running his fingers across his D-3 that he kept in his pockets at all times, along with his D-Terminal.

"After Oikawa, there shouldn't have been any new digidestined, since we are still here and can definitely travel to the digital world. Why pick new Digidestined who are our own age when we are still here?" the purple haired teen stated, pondering it some more silently.

Tai pondered Ken's question, realizing that he had just accepted as a new age of digidestined, but what Ken said actually made sense. Shouldn't the newest group be around twelve, not sixteen?

"Maybe we should ask Gennai about this. After all, if anyone knows anything about the new ones it would probably be him-"

"Prodigious!" Izzy suddenly exclaimed, typing even more furiously then before. "I've finally tracked it down!" The redhead grinned.

"Tracked down what your pizza delivery?" Matt asked, peeking over to Izzy's screen to see a jumble of codes and data that to the blond made no sense, but apparently made complete sense to the computer genius.

"No, that digital anomaly! It appeared on my radar yesterday and I've been tracking it for a while. I've finally tracked it down to its source!" He pushed a final button, watching as his computer constructed a map of the location with a pulsing beep at the center of the source. Izzy turned his computer towards them, showing them the map before their eyes went wide at realization.

"Izzy..." Tai began.

"Is that.." Cody continued.

"..the train station?!" Kari finished, realizing what that meant.

Suddenly the screen shifted, and the group watched with awe as the map turned sideways , becoming horizontal and showing the signal coming from somewhere else.

"What the, why on earth is there a digital gate underneath a subway station?!" Davis exclaimed.

"Well," Tai grinned, a spark of excitement dancing in his chocolate orbs. "I guess we know what happened to Takuya."

Whilst the group of digidestined convened in Odaiba, The legendary warriors had finally arrived at the Castle of the Rose Morning Star and the say the least, the group was awed.

"It's huuuuge!" Tommy exclaimed, looking upwards pass the titan sized front doors. He could barely see the top!

After the digital world had been restored and the Dark Continent becoming relatively quiet once again, Cherubimon had sought out the grounds of his old castle, as the place was in the complete center of the region and therefore, the source of the fractal code there.

Upon reaching the unblemished lands, Cherubimon regained his servants who had been truly loyal from the very beginning, before he had been tainted and still afterwards as he slowly descended to madness.

With them at his side, Cherubimon worked with them for six months to create a castle that outmatched Seraphimons in size and in decor. As before, he had the castle standing directly underneath the rose morning star, deeming it fit to call it the Castle of The Rose Morning Star.

The castle looked somewhat like a fortress, standing so tall that even Cherubimon at full height had room to move freely about with space left over for a copy of him. Several towers connected to the base form stood high above the ground, guards posted up there to watch out for unusual activity around the walls, or if there was an oncoming attack.

Strange..Koji mused, looking around as Turuiemon signaled to the guards at the top of the tower, who must have pushed a button of sorts since the caste doors slowly creaked open enough for the group to quickly slip in before closing again with a large thud. Even though Turuiemon said that the castle is fairly new, why do some parts of the outside wall look even newer than the others? Was his castle attacked as well? The raven haired twin pondered.

Takuya whistled, hands in his pockets as he looked up to see the amazingly tall ceiling. "Damn, this place is amazing! Much better than the old one you had." He praised, watching as a group of strangely armored Grizzlymon walked pass. He definitely liked this castle way better than the last one.

Then again, Takuya thought. A corrupted digimon would have a castle fitting his personality. Or any demonic entity, for that matter.

Turuiemon continued to guide them around, showing the group a few sights of digimon working together, beast and humanoid. Turuiemon got such a smile on his face when he talked about it. " Ophanimon and Seraphimon decided that it would be a good idea to integrate the two races of digimon together in all of our castles and surrounding towns. Seraphimon had realized that unknowingly, he had been a bit racist (Or was it digicist?) towards beast types and moved to fix that problem immediately." At the next part, Turuiemon snickered a bit. "He said his "Papa" taught him better than that."

Realizing who the champion level celestial digimon was talking about, the group couldn't help but laugh a bit. "Gotta give it to Bokomon to know how to raise a digimon properly." Kouichi said in between snickers, then stopped short and realized something. "Wait, where are Bokomon and Neemon anyway?" He asked, becoming slightly worried now that he realized that Turuiemon hadn't said anything about them.

Before panic could insure, he waved them off. "Don't worry, Baromon offered to keep them safe in the Tunnel of History. Bokomon almost drooled at the chance to study the lost history and instantly said yes, dragging Neemon all the way there by his red pants." The legendary warriors let out a group sigh of relief. It was comforting to know that they were safe. The two had always been there for them in their journey, and the group liked to think of them as honorary Legendary warriors, even if they never fought.

Turuiemon stopped at a very large door, obviously meant to open for one much bigger than them. He motioned for them to move back, closing his eyes and focusing deep as a golden-white glow developed his body. The form expanded, getting larger and larger before it nearly reached the door height, before the light shattered and revealed a familiar, jester-like form.

"Cherubimon!" The restored mega echoed. The angelic beast type mega moved around a bit, readjusting to his most powerful form before placing both hands on the doors, pushing with what looked like no effort as the doors slowly edged open.

The group slowly entered the room, noticing the large chair in the middle with two large pedestals, one white as snow and one golden as the sun. A symbol was engraved into each, but the team couldn't recognize it.

Cherubimon walked over to his large chair, slumping down in it with a sigh of relief. "Ahhh, how I missed this chair. It's much nicer than my old one." Cherubimons gravely voice rang out. It was just like he had sounded before , but his voice was now smoother, and softer as well.

"Now, since we are finally here, give me a moment to contact the others." The celestial digimon said, placing his hand on the two orbs that stood on the edge of his throne. Sending a pulse of energy through both, the orbs produced a soft glow in response, and the pedestals shot out two waves of powerful energy that sent the watching teens back slightly at the release of power.

The energy died down, compressing and slowly taking two forms, both clearly recognizable by all the rooms occupants.

"Children." Ophanimons motherly like voice rang out. "It has been a long time." Her voice was slightly static-like, due to the projection she was casting. "I am terribly sorry we cannot meet face to face at this time, but the Deathly Sin must not spread any further than it already has, so we must stay and protect our regions." Seraphimon nodded in agreement.

"Even though we cannot be there, we convene together in this time of dire need. Im sure that Cherubimon has already explained what is happening fully?" Seraphimon stated, getting a unison of nods.

"Good. Also at this time, we shall return to you something you have been without." He stated, holding holographic hands outwards. Even if not fully there, the power that they wielded could be felt when a bright light appeared in his hands. Ophanimon followed suit, then by Cherubimon.

The celestial trio tossed the orbs forward, fusing together and becoming a giant sphere of blinding light. Takuya squinted as the light grew more intense for a second before slowly fading away, revealing six smaller lights, each a different color.

A red orb flew towards Takuya, who caught it in his hands and watched as the light faded, revealing something he had missed; his D-Tector, clean as the first day he got it. The remaining lights shot out to the others, a black one going to Kouichi, a purple one for Zoe, a white one for Koji, pale blue towards Tommy, and a yellow one for J.P.

Takuya grinned, clenching the device with his palm. The screen flared for a second, the symbol for the warrior of flame appearing before Takuya felt strangely whole. Like a piece of himself that he didn't know was missing had returned.

"Wait." Koji said, looking at his device. While he was glad that the digivice was once again in his possession, he had noticing something slightly off about it.

"Why isn't it in the upgraded form?" Koji asked.

It was Cherubimon who answered. "When the spirits were broken once again, their power was shattered, and when you all reclaimed it they regained all of it minus their consciousness. But since that is not there, you must relearn how to wield the spirits." He explained.

"Re-learn? I'm not going to have to tame my beast spirit again am I?" J.P asked, not wanting to relieve that particular experience.

Ophanimon shook her head. "You most likely will not have to. What Cherubimon means is if you want to be at full power, you must become completely in tune with your spirits once again. You all will never reach the fusion evolution stage if you do not."

At this, Tommy seemed to be frozen in shock. "I-I think I misheard you... did you say we get to fusion spirit evolve!?" He gaped.

Seraphimon chuckled. "Yes. We were able to give you all the ability to fusion evolve, but you must learn how to on your own." He added.

The group nodded, shaking slightly with excitement. They all get to fusion evolve! The four out of the six were thinking of that level of strength, wondering what their fusion forms would look like.

"Oh, and one last thing." Cherubimon said, him and Seraphimon nodding in some agreement. "Since Ophanimon created the D-Tectors, We have created something for you as well." With that, two orbs once again appeared in-between their hands, this time the color green. The two orbs blended together in a show of sparks and light, changing into fractal code and shooting quickly towards the surprised group...
