***Okay, so this took forever to write, for that I apologize, but hopefully you guys enjoy this chapter!***
The second their lips touched Reid was filled with shock, confusion, and for a moment, overall happiness.
Did she just kiss me? Did she honestly mean to? Is there such a thing as a accidental kiss? Should I even care?!
His mind kept asking him these questions, when in reality, it felt like he was floating on air. JJ had already pulled back from him and was sitting across the room completely dazed. His face displayed all his emotions and he just sat there not sure of what to say or do. JJ stood up and sat beside him. The tension lingered as they both sat silent.
"Reid...I-I really don't know why..." her voice trailed off as she tried to find words to say. Reid didn't have the heart to look at her, he had known that he had felt the fireworks and she hadn't. After the first day he had laid his eyes on her, he had known there was something special about her, but had been forced to witness her fairy tale come true from afar. His social block had prevented him from truly admitting his feelings to her. He was finally given a second chance, an opening to her and once again failed to admit his emotions to her, but for one singular moment, his waiting had finally ended. For one second, he was able to forget everything and experience pure bliss. But it didn't matter to her anywhere as much as it did to him and he knew that.
"Your body, trying to protect itself, began to search for some sort of physical contact to replace your longing for Will-" his eyes began to well up as he realized how true his words were, and how much it hurt to say them out-loud.
"you attempted to find that physical element with the next closest male in your life, me, but it didn't find what it was looking for and..." his body shook as his sobs began to replace his breathing. He couldn't handle trying so hard even before her love of Will to catch her attention and now it was painfully apparent that it would never happen, at least not with him. She sat silent, and frozen beside the grown mans sobbing frame, beginning to realize that what he had said, was the truth and nothing from it.
"Mommy?" Henry's small face popped up around the corner. Both adults immediately sat up, Reid wiped off his tears as JJ stood up and wrapped Henry in a hug.
"Why are you crying Reid?" the sincerity in his voice melted his heart until JJ quickly stood up and walked quickly towards the front door taking Henry with her. She grabbed her purse without a word and continued towards the entrance. Reid became frantic. worried, concerned that he would never be able to ignore his facts, his intelligence, his knowledge and act like a normal person and tell her how he really felt and possibly woo her into falling in love with him.
"JJ WAIT!" he yelled to her, his voice cracking painfully as she didn't acknowledge him. She opened the door and before it shut, Reid could see Henry reaching towards his screaming, then it shut. He dropped to his knees in the center of the living room, his emotions swirling a mile a minute, she didn't even give him a chance, but he probably would have chickened out again like he always does. His need for Dilaudid was at an all time high, but his headache and sweats was a sure sign that if he took another dose, it would be his last. The thought crossed his mind for a moment, he had lost his first true love, but was it really worth dying? What would his mother say? He couldn't imagine the pain she would express hearing he was gone, and he didn't have the stomach to leave her. He slowly crawled his way to the bathroom where the syringe and drugs laid across the floor. Picking them up as stashing them away, he glimpsed at his reflection in the mirror. His face showed a weak, pale and worn out man he barley recognized. Entering his bedroom, he lied down on the bed and cried himself to sleep.
He awoke the next morning to the sound of knocking at his door.
"Reid com'on! I know you're in there." Morgans voice yelled through the wood.
Sitting up he walked, and opened the door, revealing himself.
"Hey pretty boy, you okay? Hotch told me he sent JJ to come see you and when you didn't show up at work today to come see how you were doing."
"I'm not interested in talking right now Morgan, tell him I'm fine, I just need to take a few more days off." Reid replied closing the door and locking it.
Morgan huffed angrily and knocked again, this time, Reid wouldn't open it, instead he slid down the door and sat with his back against it, tears began to flow again with the memories of last night.
"Reid, you can't stay cooped up forever. If this is about JJ you need to be the bigger person and get over it." the door flew open as Reid stood up, tears running down his face and staring at Morgan with anger.
"Get over it! You wouldn't believe to know how MUCH I would love to get over it, but you know what Morgan, I can't! The fact that I has ALWAYS been there for her, that I've been willing to do EVERYTHING for her and she insults me, and then refuses to acknowledge me hurts, so after awhile I am TIRED of getting over it and being the bigger person! Morgan was absolutely floored by the fact that Reid had actually yelled at him.
"Reid, listen-" but it was too late. Reid had already turned around and slammed the door.
