AN: I don't own MI High, or anything else you recognise. I just own Demi, Jamie, David, Amanda, Patterson and Amy. Thank you again for reviewing, and following this story, it genuinely means a lot to me.

Demi's POV.

The bell went off soon after, and the team left to go and be informed of the reason for my father's departure. Meanwhile myself, Jamie and David were wandering about outside. Jamie stopped walking, and said, "Are we seriously going to walk in silence all break? Demi, I... Your pencils flashing." She said pointing at my pocket. I sighed and turned it off. I didn't want to know what they wanted. "Demi, it might be urgent." David said.

"I don't care. Nothing matters."

"For God's sake, stop being depressing! I want my best friend back!" Jamie yelled, putting her hands on my shoulders. "I am your best friend. I'm fine Jai, honestly. I just don't feel like going to fight KORPS right now." David shrugged, and put his arm around me.

"Fair enough. Come on, let's go inside." I nodded, and turned, walking straight into Byron. "What do you want?" Jamie asked.

"I have a note from Flatley to give to Demi. She's been given time off until her dad gets back."

"I'm right here you know." I said, taking the note from his hand and storming off towards the school. I headed to reception, and gave the receptionist the note. She signed it and opened the door. I left and slowly began to walk home, as it started to rain. It didn't matter. I arrived home, and sat down in the living room, listening to the silence of the house and the rain hitting the window. I lay down on the sofa, as the phone went off. I didn't move though, hoping that whoever it was would give up. Eventually they did, and I turned on the TV in an attempt to distract myself. After realizing that all was on was Deal or No Deal and re-runs of CSI, I turned it back off, and went upstairs to my room. I sat on my bed, as there was a knock on my window. I got up and opened it, discovering Patterson shaking on my window-sill. "Can I come in?" He asked. I nodded, and he climbed in, landing on the floor. "I heard what happened." He said, taking off his jacket. "Yeah."

"Well, I'm not gonna ask if you're OK, cause I know you're not." He said, before swallowing and continuing, "And, if I know Jamie, she won't have stopped worrying about you since Frank left. Anyway, I'm here to warn you. Where's the little kid you seem to have adopted?" He asked. "If you mean Amanda, I don't know. I haven't seen her since this morning. Why?"

"Amy is after her. The plan is to kill you, and use Amanda to infiltrate MI9." He explained.

"How do I know I can trust you?" I asked.

"You don't. But you're gonna have to try to, if you want to be safe." He shrugged, checking his watch. As there was a knock on the door, he smiled. "Right on time. Now, I'm gonna have to go. Look after yourself, OK Dems?" He said. I nodded, and he kissed my forehead. "Good girl. I'll be back." He said, going over the window, turning back to face me. "You'd better answer that." I sighed, and headed back downstairs. I opened the door, and saw Stella, holding a umbrella over her head. "What do you want?" I asked.

"A full team." She replied.

"Get Jamie to do it." I answered.

"I can't." She said. I sighed and shut the door in her face. I didn't care if she sacked me anymore. "Demietra Estelle London, you open this door now!" She yelled.

"No." I called back.

"Demietra, open it now! You listen to me! Your father is in danger! Do you want to help him or not?" She asked. I partially opened the door, and said,

"What kind of danger?" She smiled at me, and said,

"Bad. Very, very bad. I realise it was a mistake to leave you out. Now, are you going to help or not?" I nodded, and left the house, locking the door.

"How do you know my middle name?" I asked, realising it was a stupid question.

"You're called Estelle for a reason Demi. Now come on, the sooner we get back, the sooner we get your father out of there." The two of us then began to run, not knowing that Patterson was stood on the corner, watching us and smiling. "You made the right choice Demi." He said, before turning and walking off.

When we arrived back at HQ, I found that Tom was the only member of my team still there. "Dan and the others went to get Frank out." He explained to Stella, but became quiet upon spotting me. I smiled at him, and he hugged me. I hugged back, and he wrapped my hair around his fingers. "We're gonna get him back Dems. I promise." I nodded, and softly kissed him. "Thank you. My hero." He smiled, blushing slightly, as Stella coughed. He looked at her, and let me go. "Sorry Stella. As I was saying, Aneisha and Dan have arrived at the Cranium Institute. We've got trackers on Aneisha and Dan. Neish has just be told to go and set up something called 'The Happy Chair'" Tom said.

"The Happy Chair? Why do I get the feeling that name is not literal?" I asked.

"Did you get that?" Aneisha said through the Comms.

"Yeah, The Happy Chair's in the Basement. Room X. How mysterious." I said. looking at the map on the screen.

"Nice to hear you're back now Dems." Aneisha said. "How you feeling?"

"Never been better. Right, you'd better get going before they suspect something." I replied.

"Tom, I've located Bland." Zoe said over the comms.

"Right, who's Bland, again?" I asked.

"Old MI9 agent. He's staying in the same place as Frank. We know that he has some knowledge about something called Operation Budgie. We need to find out what that was." Tom explained. "And this all happened when I was gone for 20 minutes? Wow." I said, as Zoe spoke again.

"I think I've found something. His chess game is a code. Hasn't been used since the Cold War."

"OK, not even gonna ask you how you know that."

"I bet his mind is still active. I bet he's trying to get a message out. I can give you the sequence, but you'll have to decode it."

"Great. I always sucked at sequences. Good thing we have this software." I said, loading it up. "What's the sequence Zoe?"

"White and F3, Black and KD8." This sequence went on for quite a while, causing my fingers to hurt. Thankfully, it eventually ended with "Black, KE6. White, EX1." Tom entered the code, and it resulted in the message of "Nuclear Launch, something, unless something.' "Well that's helpful. Tom, are you sure you entered the entire code?"

"Unless What?" Stella asked.

"I don't know, that's it!" Tom said.

"Zoe, get Bland to play the game again." Stella said.

"Oh goody. I'm not going to be able to feel my fingers soon." I replied, cracking my fingers.

"Aneisha, don't tell me, Retentive's got Frank in the Happy Chair?" Tom asked, switching comms. Upon seeing my confusion, Stella explained that Retentive was the Head Doctor at the Cranium Institute. "Yes." Aneisha whispered back.

"I'm trying to figure out what it does, but it can't be good. We need to get Frank out of there." Tom said, taking my hand.

"No, don't blow your cover." Stella said. I glared at her, and shook my head. "Don't worry Demi. We'll try to create a distraction. Dan, are you ready?"

"Yeah, I'm nearly there!" Dan said over the third comm.

"End of the corridor, turn right." Tom said, before switching comms again. "Aneisha, you need to plant your watch tracker on Doctor Retentive."

"Done it." Aneisha responded, as a flashing green dot appeared on the map.

"Right, now get my dad out of there." I said, turning to Stella. "If this doesn't work, and he gets hurt, I will kill you." I coldly said, before Tom put Dan back on Comms.

"Dan, Retentive's coming. You need to get out of there." Tom said.

"Got it. Turning the power back on now." Dan replied. A few moments later, as the clock hit half past 4, Stella said,

"The Happy Chair, what have you got?" Tom explained that the chair took out people's hidden memories, and that the only way we could give Bland his memories back was to see the chair working. That meant my dad losing his memories of MI9. "No." I said. "You can't. You promised me you wouldn't let him get hurt!"

"What's going on?" My dad's voice said over comms.

"Tom's figured out a way to reverse the process, but we need a test subject. We can only reverse the process once. So whoever the test subject was would never get their memories back ever." Stella explained. I looked at her.

"You make him do this and I'll never forgive you."

AN: And I'm going to leave it there! Sorry this chapter is so long. Anyway, thank you again for reading, and I hope you enjoyed!
