XLII.

Kagome stood in the middle of a field looking just as she had before she was turned into a yokai. She knew what the plan was and hoped that everyone would do as they were supposed to. He was coming she could feel his approach but she was confused because he was alone. Where were all of his incarnations had he destroyed them to make himself stronger?

"Hello little miko it is about time you came out to face me." Naraku chuckled as he emerged from the forest.

Kagome's eyes narrowed on him, "It is not I who have hidden at every turn. I have been ready to end this for a very long time. Where are your incarnations and Kohaku?"

The smirk that came over his face make her skin crawl. She watched as he pulled something from his baboon cloak and threw it at her feet.

His smirk widened at her horrified look, "There is Kohaku he had outlived his usefulness as had my incarnations so I absorbed them back into my body."

Kagome sneered at him, "You truly are an evil bastard you will die today and by my hand. It will end here and now Naraku!"

Kagome watched him carefully as he approached her, "Why should I fear you Kagome? You are but one weak human that could not harm me if she wanted to with all of her might."

Kagome narrowed her eyes and did not rise to the bait as she waited for him to get closer to her. She had no desire to stretch this out the closer he was to her the quicker she could end it.

He continued to mock her as he approached, "Have nothing to say now do we little miko. I had so hoped you would at least make this entertaining for me. It appears that you have decided to simply accept your fate. I wonder did Inuyasha fall just as easily under the spell that Kikyo and I wove over him. It is a shame that I could not see how that one played out since I was searching for you."

That got a reaction out of Kagome, "What do you mean Inuyasha was under a spell woven by you and Kikyo?"
