AN: I don't own MI High, or anything else you recognise. I just own Demi, Jamie, David, Amanda, Patterson and Amy.
Demi's POV.
I was sat by myself in HQ at 1am, crying. You wanna know why? Because I don't know who I am anymore. Ever since I read my file, it's as if I can't trust anyone anymore. Everyone is just a liar. People who claim to want what's best for me. I didn't want all this! I just wanted a mother who wouldn't try to kill me, and people I could trust. I'm used to lies, sure. Being a spy is all about lying, but I wish that there was someone, anyone I could talk to who wouldn't lie. Jamie wasn't here, she'd gone to Geneva to visit her grandmother, taking David with her. What about Patterson? Maybe, if I could track him down, he might listen. He might not like me, but hopefully he'd listen. I left HQ and ran, I needed to find him. I didn't want to be alone anymore. "And you don't have to be alone Demi." A cold voice said behind me. I turned, recognizing it immediately.
"Hello Harry." I answered.
"What are you doing? Why are you running through the streets at night looking for me?" He asked.
"How did you...?" I trailed off.
"They don't call me genius for nothing you know. Who else would you be running to at this time? What's up Dems?" He stated.
"I feel so alone. Despite having all these people around me, I have no one to talk to." I said.
"I know the feeling. So, why me?" He asked.
"Well, I'm hoping you won't tell me lies, and that you'll listen." I answered.
"Well, there is a way you can get away. If that's what you want." He replied.
"What?" I questioned.
"When this is all over, you come with me. I can't promise it'll be safe, but you won't be alone anymore. You'll have me. What do you say?" I paused for a while, before replying,
"Yes."
"Grand Duke Nicholas. Heir to the throne of Garland. His family has ruled over Garland with an iron fist since the Middle Ages." My father said, showing a picture of a young blonde man. "I've read about them! They sound exactly like the kind of people we should be fighting!" Zoe said.
"We may not approve of their regime, but we still don't want kidnappings on British soil." My father replied. "Grand Duke Nicholas has received numerous threatening messages, so we need to protect him."
"So what's the plan?" Dan asked.
"Tight surveillance, plus my latest invention." My dad said.
"Oh god. Are sure this one works? We've been here many times." I interrupted.
"Yes." He answered.
"You sure?" I asked.
"I'm very sure. It's a genetic tracer. It tracks DNA and then pinpoints the exact location of the person with that genetic profile."
"So even the Grand Duke goes missing, we'll know where he is." Aneisha said.
"That's very clever. I like it." I added.
"Exactly. I'll show you." My dad said, picking up the black device from the table. "Tom give me a hair please."
"Certainly." Tom replied, pulling out one of Zoe's hairs.
"Ow!" Zoe cried.
"I meant one of your own." My dad said, taking the hair and putting it into the device.
"Oh, sorry." Tom said. "You should have said." A few moments later a map appeared on the screen, shortly followed by a dot.
"There's Zoe here at St Hearts." My dad said. Suddenly, another dot appeared on the other half of the screen.
"If that's Zoe, then who's that?" Dan asked.
"Frank, why are there 2 dots? A DNA profile is meant to be unique!" Zoe yelled.
"I told you the machine wouldn't work." I muttered.
"Shut up Demi." My dad said.
"How can there be two Zoe's?" Aneisha asked.
"Maybe a twin?" Tom suggested.
"I have a brother or sister?" Zoe asked.
"Now you know how I feel. I have 2!" I interrupted again.
"Zoe, I don't want you to get your hopes up." My dad said.
"But this could be family!" Zoe said.
"That's why I'm worried." My dad calmly said.
"I don't understand."
If the Shadow Master was right, and you really are the Master Mind's daughter, then he's the father of whoever this is too." He said, looking at the map.
"You mean they might be in danger?" Zoe asked.
"Not necessarily." I interrupted. My father nodded at me,
"Or dangerous. Or they might be leading a quiet life with no knowledge of any of this. How would you like to find out your father was the most evil man who ever lived?" He asked. "I did." Zoe answered quietly.
"I'm just saying I don't know what we'll find. We'll investigate it properly the second this mission is over. But right now, I need you to focus." My father said. "Can you do that?"
"Of course." Zoe said, nodding.
"Let's go. The sooner we get done, the sooner we can find Zoe's family." Dan said, leading the others out of the base. I sat down at my desk, and looked around. Tom and my dad were busy looking at the new gadget, so I had a few minutes. Jamie had asked me to help her find out what had happened to her father. She presumed he was dead, but with her mother and everything, she needed to make sure. I found him easily. James Sanders, missing in action since 2004. Last known mission was to infiltrate SKUL. The Grandmaster would know where he was, and what had happened. "Guys, will you be OK if I leave you for a while? About an hour? There's someone I need to see." I asked, looking at my dad. He nodded, and I got up. "Thank you. I'll be back." I said, entering the lift. Now I just had to get the Grandmaster to tell me what he knew.
AN: And I'm going to leave it here! Thanks for reading! I hope you enjoyed!
