AN: I don't own MI High, or anything else you recognise. I just own Demi, Jamie, Patterson and Amy.
Demi's POV
I'd never realised how exhausting running was. Jamie seemed absolutely fine with keeping up with Patterson, while I was falling behind. "Come on Demi!" Jamie yelled.
"We're nearly there Dems, just keep running." Patterson called, stopping.
"What is it?" Jamie whispered, as I caught up, panting.
"We need a plan of attack. Dems, can you stop that? You sound like a dog." Patterson said, covering my mouth.
"Shut up Harry. So what's the plan?" Jamie asked.
"We enter through the air ducts, disable the security alarms and then we set the machine." He answered.
"Or we could just use the door." Jamie said, walking over the door, pushing on it, and opening it.
"Yeah or that. My way was more exciting." Patterson said, getting up and brushing the dirt off himself.
"But my way took less effort." Jamie said as we entered the giant house. "Right, where now?"
"We find the machine." Patterson asked, looking around.
"Does it have a name?" Jamie asked.
"Nope. Clarke never gave it a name." He replied.
"Can we call it 'The Death Machine'?" She asked.
"If you really want to." Patterson replied, sighing. "You OK Dems?" He asked, looking at me now.
"We've got company." I responded, pointing at the guards that had spotted us. Patterson nodded, and entered the fighting position.
"Then we take them down together. Ready?" He asked. Jamie nodded, and I entered my fighting position.
"You got it." I replied, the guard stared me down. I easily took him down, and then helped Jamie get away. Patterson easily took down the remaining two guards, and grabbed my arm. "They know we're here. We need to hurry and get to the machine fast."
"How did they know?" I asked as we quickly jogged to the hall.
"Maybe because we walked in through the front door? We weren't exactly subtle when we entered were we?" Patterson replied.
"No you weren't Harry. But we knew you were here before you even entered the building." A voice behind us said. We turned, knowing exactly who it was.
"Hello mother." I said.
"Daughter." She coldly responded. "What did I tell you about interrupting my plans?"
"When they involve imploding the Solar System, I think I have a right to intervene." I answered. She laughed, and said,
"You really don't know what you're getting in to."
"Jamie, go and get Amanda and Sam out of the cells, Demi go with her. I can take her." Patterson said, stepping forward.
"Are you mad?" Jamie questioned.
"Yes. Now go!" He yelled, as Amy began to hit at him.
"Come on Jai!" I said, grabbing her wrist and dragging her with me. "Where's the cells?"
"This way." She replied, leading me to the right and into a dark corridor, where we found Sam and Amanda. "No time for niceties, we have to go. Now." Jamie said, unlocking the cell door. "Got it." Sam replied, picking up Amanda and beginning to run. "Where are we going?"
"The main hall. Get plugged in to the machine, Harry will join you in a moment." Jamie explained once we returned to the hallway. "I'm going to help take out a few more guards. Demi, you're in charge." I nodded, and she ran to the right, up the main flight of stairs.
"Is this definitely going to work?" Sam asked.
"Should do. We all share a genetic link. That's what makes the machine shut down I think. I have no idea. We just have to plug ourselves in." I answered, as we entered the hall. The machine itself was just a huge metal block attached to tables with seat-belts and headpieces. I lay against the table and put on the belt. Amanda and Sam did the sam as Harry ran in, breathless. "We need to start the machine now. The effects are already starting, the Thames has flooded."
"Doesn't it always? Do what you have to Harry." I replied, as he stood at the console.
"This is going to hurt. A lot. Just warning you." Patterson said, hitting keys. "Ready?"
"Yup. Do it." I said, and he hit one last key, causing the machine to start whirring. Something sharp pricked my neck, causing my eyes to shut, and me to fall into unconsciousness.
When I woke back up, I was outside, being held up by Patterson. "What happened?" I asked.
"You did it! We destroyed the machine!" Jamie said. "But..."
"But what?"
"We set the house on fire." She said, looking over her shoulder. I turned and saw that the house was up in flames. "It was an accident I swear."
"I wouldn't call running around with a lighter yelling 'Let's torch this place!' an accident Jai." Patterson responded.
"Shut up!" Jamie muttered, stopping walking.
"Nope. Never." Patterson replied, smirking. "Well, I'm out of here. MI9 will be here soon, and I don't want to be arrested." He hugged Jamie, and kissed her forehead. "Stay safe Jai."
"Don't I always?" Jamie asked, hugging him back. "You keep safe too. Don't get involved in any criminal gangs, and come back to visit some time."
"I will. You won't be able to keep me away." He replied, before turning to me. "We are equal now Demietra. Look after yourself, and I'll see you around. Unless..." He trailed off.
"Unless what?" I asked.
"Unless you still want to come with me. What do you think? We can travel the world Demietra! What do you say?" He said, smiling.
"Well, I..." I trailed off, glancing at Jamie who was sitting on top of the hill now.
"If you want to, I'll take you. I'll look after you, and help control your wild side! Yes or no?" He asked. I glanced up at Jamie, and then back at him. I had to choose now. A possibly dangerous life as a spy with Tom and my father, or an escape with Harry? What should I do?
