So, yeah, sorry about how long it has taken me, seems like forever since I last updated this, probably wasn't but you know whatever. Anyway, hopefully this is alright? Please leave a review; I love to read them :) xx
This made her smile even more and they both sat together, although happy, worried about the future of their daughter.
The two sat in silence for a couple of minutes, before disturbed when another patient was bought into resus. Both looked over and guessed that they wouldn't be able to have some time to think in silence for a while. Jonny looked down to Jac who was leaning against him as he taken to sitting on the bed next to her. He thought he saw tears running down her face.
"You alright?" he asked her, giving her a slight squeeze.
Without looking up, she nodded and moved herself closer to him, looking for comfort. He wrapped his arms around her carefully and rested his chin on the top of her head.
"You don't have to be brave all the time you know. Don't worry about needing to cry," he reassured her.
They went back to silence again, before Jonny heard Jac mutter something.
"I'm really scared," she repeated again quietly as Jonny hadn't heard her the first time.
He smiled sadly, this was one of the rare times Jac would ever dare to voice what she was really feeling, but he was glad that she had, glad that she had been able to talk to him.
"Me too, but I can promise you that we will get through this, and everything will be good sooner or later." He had to stop himself for saying that everything would be perfect, as he knew that wasn't likely.
He felt her nod and that was all she needed to hear from him; that he was on the same page as her, and that she wasn't over reacting to this. She needed the comfort he gave her.
Again the silence they were sat in was disturbed when the relative of the patient forced their way through the doors into resus to try and see their loved ones. Both Jac and Jonny watched as they were made to stand back away from the one they loved. How they weren't comforted or reassured, but just made to stay away, not given any information.
The woman looked over to Jac and Jonny as they watched her, and they both smiled at her. She smiled, and left resus, walking away from the scene unfolding in front of her, from the doctors that were soon going to give up on the man she loved. The doors swung and then she was gone.
Th doors stopped swinging, but were opened again moments later revealing Zoe who had come to take Jac for her scans.
"Isn't there a queue?" Jac asked, knowing that normally patients would have to wait longer than she had.
"Yes, but you are a high risk patient and you need that scan. We don't know what damage has occurred as a result of the crash and we can't tell whether you are doing more damage with all the moving. I hate to say, but Lilly was right with the fact you could be doing more damage and you know it."
Jac nodded, she understood where they were coming from, but she couldn't be restrained, trapped almost. She hated the idea that she wouldn't be able to move and that others would have all power over her.
"The porter will be along in a moment with a wheelchair and I'll be joining you if that's okay. Jonny, are you going to come with us?"
Jonny shook her head, "I'll stay here with Freya."
Zoe smiled. "Freya, that's a beautiful name."
"For a beautiful little girl," Jac told her.
"Just like her mother," Jonny agreed.
Zoe smiled at the pair, knowing how strong they were and realising how in love they really were. She knew from that point that they would be able to help each other through anything, but hoped that something this big wouldn't be able to break them. She had seen it before.
Jac sat thinking for a couple of moments. She had wanted to ask Zoe something for a while now, but knew that Zoe was unlikely to give her the answer she wanted to hear. She also knew that Zoe would try to pretend that she wasn't aware of the answer, as if she didn't completely know what the answer was to save them some heart ache. But Jac needed the answer, just to put something into perspective, to make sure that she wouldn't get her hopes up. Or that Jonny wouldn't get his up. She knew how much he had been looking forward to this, how much he had wanted a perfect family, and everything to work out right. She knew that wasn't going to happen, and she felt bad as it was her fault they were in this situation, so she had make sure Jonny didn't get ahead of himself. She decided she would ask her when they went for the scan, that way Jonny wouldn't be around and Zoe was more likely to give her a proper answer.
Max arrived with a wheelchair for Jac, and with Jonny's help she was sat and ready to go. Jac looked up at Jonny.
"Can you move me over to her? Just so I can have a better look," Jac asked im, as she still hadn't been able to get out of her bed due to people worrying about her and Jonny sat with her watching her to make sure she didn't leave.
Jonny nodded, he had already guessed he would have asked him as he knew how annoyed she had been getting because no one had let her move. He moved the wheelchair over to the small incubator and watched as Jac placed her hand on the glass.
Before she knew it, she had an unstoppable cascade of tears flowing down her checks. She looked at the little girl, the only movement being the rise and fall of her chest. She seemed peaceful, and Jac assumed she was better off being peaceful, rather than awake, confused and struggling.
Jonny saw her tears from where he stood and went to stand behind her, he placed his hands on her shoulders and he felt Jac relax slightly knowing he was there. The three were peaceful for a moment.
Max and Zoe where stood at the end of the bed, watching them. Max had been trying to explain why he had taken so long, but Zoe had reassured him that it didn't matter. They had now finished their conversation, but neither had wanted to tell them that they had to go.
"Jac, we're going to have to go now," Zoe said.
Jonny turned around, confused, as if he had forgotten where they were and what was going on. He nodded, and went to sit on the bed. Max wheeled the chair away, and was followed by Zoe out of resus.
I apologies on slow updates, but hopefully this is alright. Please review :) xx
