It had been a few days since the fiasco with Sebastian happened. Blaine knew that Kurt had done something because he wasn't even getting the normal texts from Sebastian that he used to. Plus, Kurt had been acting a little distant like he didn't want to tell Blaine the truth.
Whatever happened must have been big. For Sebastian, the man that drugged Blaine to sleep with him, to stop texting him; Kurt must have really made an impression.
Kurt had finally gotten home from a long day at work. "Blaine?" He hollered as he walked in the door.
"Kitchen!" Blaine yelled back.
Kurt walked into the kitchen to see Blaine standing at the stove in an apron making dinner. "Do I have a house husband now?" He asked smiling.
"Don't get used to it. I start work tomorrow remember?" Blaine said giving Kurt's butt a light tap as he walked by.
"That's right. I've finally got myself a working man." He said opening the refrigerator and taking out a bottle of water. He went back over to Blaine and grabbed hold of his waist. "What time does your shift start tomorrow?" He said kissing Blaine's cheek and walking to the table.
"Right after class gets out at noon. I'm going to have to practically run to the diner." He said putting the food on two plates and heading over to the table. "Although, I still don't know if us working together is the best idea."
"Why?" Kurt said putting food into his mouth.
"That's a lot of time together."
"You don't want to spend time together anymore, Blaine?" Kurt asked putting his fork down.
"No, I want to spend most of my time with you. I just don't want it to be one of those 'we spent so much time together we began to hate each other' scenarios." Blaine explained.
"Babe, that's not going to happen to us." Kurt said taking Blaine's hand. "That's why we're not working the same shifts." He smiled and went back to his food.
"Couples need time apart, Kurt."
"Again, why we're working different shifts." He said. "Blaine, we are not going to fail because we're working at the same diner." He continued. "I love you and there's really nothing you can say or do that will make that change."
"Okay. I believe you."
"Good. Now eat because this is amazing." He said finishing off his water.
Over the next few days Kurt and Blaine saw very little of each other. Between having to go to class and working different shifts at the diner. The only time they had together was when Blaine got home from work and crawled into bed smelling of French fries and before they both left for the day.
Finally they both had a day off of work, Saturday. Kurt was getting laundry around to clean that evening. He picked up one of Blaine's shirts and noticed something different. "Blaine?"
"Yeah?"
"Did you change cologne?"
"No, why?" Blaine asked walking into the bedroom.
"Your shirt smells funny that's all. Thought I missed something." Kurt explained turning the shirt right side out.
"I bumped into Reggie at the diner one too many times." He said sitting down on the bed.
"Do you know what this stain is from?" Kurt asked showing Blaine the stain on his shirt. "It looks like red wine."
"No idea how that got there." Blaine said looking slightly panicked.
Kurt looked confused trying to figure out why Blaine would have red wine stained on his shirt. "Wait! Red wine? The mysterious smelling shirt? Have you been sneaking around with Sebastian?"
"I haven't been sneaking around with Sebastian." Blaine said feeling insulted that Kurt would assume that.
"Really?"
"He called me a couple days ago and wanted to take me to an 'I'm sorry' dinner." Blaine told Kurt.
"It didn't occur to you to tell your boyfriend? Who you live with." Kurt asked.
"It was just a dinner, Kurt."
"Blaine, this guy likes you. This guy drugged you so he could sleep with you. There's nothing good or just about him." Kurt was beginning to raise his voice. "And why did you lie about it?"
"Because I knew you'd react like this." Blaine said. "And you're not as innocent as you'd like to believe."
"What?"
"Don't play dumb, Kurt. I know that you went to 'talk' to Sebastian last Saturday." Blaine said to Kurt. "Yeah, he told me. He said you brought Santana to help you out. And that she went 'Lima Heights' on him. She broke his nose."
"Good" Kurt said under his breath.
"Kurt, you can't tell me who I can and can't be friends with."
"I'm not trying to. I just want you to see who he is." Kurt told him.
"Who he is? Who he is, is a friend from high school. A friend of any kind, Kurt." Blaine yelled back. "I'm done talking about this. I'm sleeping on the couch."
"Wasn't really giving you a choice." Kurt said throwing him a pillow off the bed.
Blaine walked out of the room and slammed the door shut behind him.
Several hours had passed. Kurt sat on the bed eating a large bowl of chocolate ice cream talking to Rachel on the phone.
"But Rachel, he lied to me about it."
"You lied to him about last weekend." She stated over the phone. "How would you feel if Blaine accused you of cheating?"
"I'm not accusing him of cheating. I'm just pissed that he lied to me." Kurt shot back. "And last weekend I just wanted Sebastian to tell me the truth about what he did to Blaine."
"That's why you brought Santana?"
"She wasn't supposed to break his nose." Kurt said shoving another spoon full of ice cream in his mouth.
"In all fairness, Kurt, Blaine has no one from his life before New York and you here. You have me and Santana and your parents come to visit." Rachel began. "Sebastian might be Blaine's me or Santana. Something from Ohio that makes living in this big and scary city a little less scary."
"Rachel, I'm supposed to make him feel safe. That's why I held his hand at his parents' and sat next to him for three weeks while he was in a coma." Kurt said beginning to sound more upset than angry.
"Kurt, he wants part of his old life here in New York to share with his new life. He wants to share who he was in Ohio with you. So you can really grow together and live happily ever after." Rachel said with a chuckle.
"Fairytale endings happen in fairytales, Rachel, not real life." Kurt snapped.
"Well, Kurt, it's late and I have to work in the morning. You talk to Blaine. Work this out because he's not the only one at fault here. And you two are made for each other. I love you. Bye."
"I love you too. Bye." Kurt said and hung up the phone.
Kurt sat on the bed thinking. I know I lied to Blaine. I know that it was wrong, but I just didn't want him to know that Santana broke Sebastian's nose. Ugghh, Kurt, why are you so damn mad at Blaine when you've done the same exact thing? Okay, no more being mad. Was Rachel right? Did Blaine just miss his old life? Did he just want to share? Whatever it was I'm not going to get the answers in here. Kurt got up off the bed and walked towards the living room.
Kurt walked into the living to see Blaine sleeping on the couch. He was sleeping in one of Kurt's shirts clutching the pillow Kurt had thrown at him to his chest. Kurt smiled at the sight. He walked over and stood in front of Blaine. He took hold of the pillow and slowly removed it from Blaine's grasp.
He lifted the blanket Blaine had laid on himself and positioned himself on Blaine's chest with his arms wrapped around his boyfriend's body. Blaine woke up slightly after feeling Kurt lay down on top of him. "I'm sorry." Blaine whispered.
"Shhh. We can talk about it in the morning. Right now just hold me." Kurt said pressing himself against Blaine.
Blaine wrapped his arms around Kurt and held onto him as tightly as he could.
Sunday morning finally rolled around and Kurt and Blaine lay sleeping on the couch together. Kurt got up and started to make breakfast. Blaine woke up to the smell of pancakes coming from the kitchen. "What are you doing?"
"You always make breakfast. This morning; it's my turn." He said and went over and kissed Blaine on the cheek.
"Um…"
"Let me finish cooking then we can talk, Blaine." They both sat down at the kitchen table with their food. "You can go first."
"You lied. You never told me about going to talk to Sebastian that night." Blaine started.
"I didn't lie. I just didn't tell you everything. And before you say it; I know that's just as bad. But seeing you in that state of mind. You wouldn't have known your ass from your elbow, Blaine. It brought out the protective boyfriend within me." Kurt told Blaine. "And then seeing you act all chummy and close and they way he looked at and talked to you. All of that brought out the jealous boyfriend."
Blaine smiled. "I guess that's sort of cute. But Santana?"
"She really wasn't supposed to hit him that hard. I swear I never told her to break him." Kurt stated. "I am so sorry, Blaine. I shouldn't have gone over to Sebastian's, I should have told you when I did, and I shouldn't have practically accused you of cheating."
"You think I would cheat on you?" Blaine asked almost laughing. "Kurt, there is no drink or drug or man or anything that would make me cheat on you. You don't cheat on the person that you love more than anything.
"And I'm sorry for not telling you I was going to dinner with Sebastian and I didn't invite you to come along. I should have. To make sure that you knew I only had eyes for you." Blaine said to him.
"We've both made some mistakes in the last week." Kurt said with a slight chuckle. "I really don't want to fight with you. Especially about Sebastian."
"Yeah no more. He's gone. You were right. I texted him last night to vent about how mad I was and he was text flirting." Blaine said looking down at his food.
"Blaine, I know you want part of your old life. When it wasn't so hard. But that part is not a good egg." Kurt said. "Look at me; I am right here to make your life easier and not so scary."
Blaine took Kurt's hand. "You are the most incredible person I have ever known."
"You're not too bad yourself." Kurt smiled.
"So, no more Sebastian. He's gone; I promise." Blaine said getting up from the table. Blaine took Kurt's hand and pulled him to his feet. "All I want is you." He said before he kissed Kurt.
To be continued…
