It was late in the morning after Yamcha left. Bulma let out a sigh as the sun grew warmer on her exposed chest and calves. Lifting her hair up over the back of the lawn chair, she leaned her head back to better face the sunshine.
Being awake all night had started to catch up with Bulma. That, and the perfect weather were putting her to sleep. So tired… she thought. I wonder what Goku's doing… Her last thoughts were of Goku before she drifted into unconsciousness.
A while later she woke to the feeling of pressure on her cheek. Slowly opening her bright eyes, she saw the unmistakeable silhouette of Goku against the afternoon sun.
"You are so beautiful." He said, his voice echoing in her mind. He gently caressed her cheek with the tips of his fingers before leaning in and kissing her softly on her forehead.
Closing her eyes once more Bulma placed one of her hands over his, and pressed her face into his palm. She smiled and moaned quietly. "I missed you..." She whispered, feeling the warmth of his hands, and his breath on her hair. He pushed his hand back into her hair and raised her face to his, smiling against her lips.
"Did you?" Goku ran his free hand down along her side, brushing the seam of her bra with his thumb, causing her to squirm in eagerness, then kissed her swiftly on her lips.
"Mhmm" she sighed, before he kissed her jaw, neck, and then collar bone, pushing his hand up the front of her shirt. His skin felt like fire against her stomach.
"How much did you miss me?" He teased, cupping her breast gently at first, and then a bit more firmly. Goku pressed his face into her chest, planting same kisses along her cleavage line
"A lot..." She answered plainly, her body reacting to his. But suddenly, Goku stood up, his hands and lips leaving her body. She gasped and sat up to look at him. "What?" She asked his smirking face.
"That's not a good enough answer." He grinned as he spoke beckoning her to stand. "Come here." She immediately obeyed, approaching him, and placing her small hands on his hard chest.
"I missed you so much, I couldn't think about anything else." Bulma pressed against him, arching her back to feel more of his body against her own. Goku kissed her twice before lifting her shirt above her head and dropping to his knees, kissing her stomach as his hands reached around to squeeze her ass. She ran her fingers through his spiky hair, and smiled broadly at the joy of having him. "Oh Goku..." She sighed.
"Bulma?!" A woman's voice broker through the peaceful out doors. Bulma paid it no attention at first. "Bulma, honey! Wake up!"
"What? Mom?!" Bulma jumped up from the lawn chair where she's been napping and covered her torso with her arms, before seeing that she was still fully clothed. A dream!? She realized, completely embarrassed.
"Do you need to go somewhere?" Her mother asked her innocently. "You kept saying 'go' in your sleep." The smile on Mrs Briefs face remained ever the same.
Bulma gasped and felt her face turn scarlet. "No I don't, mom!" She screeched before running inside. UGH! How embarrassing! Once Bulma was back in her room she took a few big breaths. "Of course! Of course it was a dream!" She chided herself quietly behind her closed bedroom door, waiting for her face to cool down.
Looking at her clock, it was 3 o'clock in the afternoon. Oh that was a long nap… Bulma wondered if Yamcha had told anyone about their break up, or if Goku had called off his wedding yet.
Krillin knocked once more on Goku's door. Word had travelled that he had called the wedding off, and Krillin was eager to see how Goku was doing. He waited for a minute or two, and Goku did not answer the door.
"That's weird…" he mused, before walking around the the back of the house. Goku was soaking in a tub of steaming water, only the spikes of his hair visible over the top of the water line. Krillin approached the tub, waiting for Goku to emerge for a breath.
Slowly, Goku raised his eyes and nose above the water, sensing Krillin's presence, and stared into his friends face blankly.
"Uh.. Hey Goku, how are you doing?" Krillin asked, a little uncomfortable with Goku's unusual mood. Goku raised his head more so that he could speak.
"Krillin… I feel so bad" Goku started, his face crinkling into an expression of extreme sadness. "ChiChi was so upset…" He straightened his posture so that he was sitting properly, his shoulders now above the water, steam rising off of his skin.
"Well yeah, I expected she would be. But it's for the best." Krillin placed his hand on Goku's shoulder and tried to make an encouraging expression. "How did it go?" he asked.
"Well.. I went to her house, and asked her to take a walk with me." Goku was pouting like a child. He hadn't had to deal with a guilt like this one before. He'd never betrayed someone he cared about so badly. "That's when I told her that I didn't want to get married and she asked me…" He stopped. Goku wasn't sure that he was ready to tell Krillin about Bulma, and how quickly he'd fallen for her on their trip.
"She asked you what?" Krillin prompted, resting his head on his crossed arms, over the edge of the tub. Goku didn't answer right away. Krillin thought of backing off, but he could see that Goku was pretty torn up about the circumstances surrounding him. "You can tell me, man." He nodded his shiny head in encouragement.
Goku let out a long sigh. "I know… She asked me about Bulma." Krillin lifted his head and raised his eyebrows questioningly.
"Bulma?" he repeated.
"Yeah, Krillin. Bulma." Goku snapped a little, but Krillin knew better than to take it too seriously. "I…" Goku started, staring intently at the surface of the water, knowing that his fists were tightly clenched underneath it. "You can't tell anyone Krillin." Krillin nodded. "I think I am in love with her." Goku said the words quickly, to ensure that he could get them all out.
"What?!" Krillin was so surprised at this revelation, that he couldn't stop himself from reacting. "What about… Yamcha?" he hesitated before speaking Yamcha's name because of the glare Goku shot him.
"What about Yamcha?" Goku was more agitated than Krillin had ever seen him. He seemed really stressed about the situation. He felt awful for both Yamcha and ChiChi. So bad that he wasn't even sure he could pursue his happiness with Bulma. Would it hurt them more?
Krillin sighed, but said nothing. Krillin hadn't had many romantic interests in his life so far, and he definitely hadn't had two at the same time. There was no telling how he would react. People are inherently selfish, and he knew he'd probably have done the same thing as Goku. But Goku was not like normal people. There wasn't a selfish bone in his body, and he would rather die than hurt his friends. It wasn't too much for him to ask to be with someone who makes him feel happy. But his guilt would get in the way of him feeling that happiness.
"Well…" Krillin started, watching Goku as the guilt wore on his face. "I'm sorry, Goku. I don't know what to say. You deserve to be happy."
The two men sat in silence for a while, as the sun sank lower on the horizon. Goku hadn't spoken to Bulma since early that morning. He was torn between being desperate to see her, and too ashamed to grant himself the pleasure of doing so. He let out a long distressed groan, unsure of what to do next.
"I think I'm gonna get some sleep, Krillin." He stood in the tub, and stepped out, wrapping himself in a plain white towel before turning to face his friend. "Thanks." He said simply.
