Pokѐmon Journey I: Violet's Trial
Chapter 14: Traveling Through the Routes
Violet's Point of View:
I felt all my joints hurt as I began to move. I felt stiff and sore from the tips of my toes to the smallest veins in my head surrounding my brain. Man, curse hurts! I shook my head slowly and I tried to peak through my eyes. I saw I was in a pokemon center room for three, the boys must have brought me here last night after Rose sicked her haunter on me.
I hope they were able to stop Rose, I know they most likely did, but she might have used me as a hostage after she attacked me. I yawned and sat up in the bed I was in and started to feel the pain of the curse slowly reside. It might have just been a quick moment of pain once I woke up. It doesn't really hurt that much at all anymore.
I slide my legs slowly over the side of the bed and set them on the ground to see how much pain I'd be once I stood on my feet. I slowly pressed my soles against the ground and added more weight as I stood. A dull echoing pain was in my body, mostly my head, but other then that, I was able to move and felt, for the most part, fine.
I was in hospital issued clothing. I didn't quite care for it much, I try to avoid hospitals most of the time, but that didn't mean I didn't have my fair shares of cuts, bruises and broken bones in my younger years. I looked around the room for my clothes and found them neatly folded in the back of the room on a shelf. I hurried over to it and changed my clothes, throwing the hospital gown on bed and grabbed my other things beside it.
With everything in place, I quietly slipped out of the room and into the hallway of doors of the second floor which I assumed to be the Lavender Town pokemon center. I walked down the hallway until I reached the stairs and quietly stepped down them. At the bottom I was surprised to only see my three pokemon and Nurse Joy at the front counter, quietly paying around with objects before them.
"Um, Nurse Joy?" All objects in hands dropped and shattered upon contact (the glass one that was in Nurse Joy's hand anyway) and they all turned to face me. Four pairs of worried eyes looked me over for a quick glance before three of them leapt at me and knocked me down to the ground. "Whoa!"
"All of you! Get off her before you hurt her!" Nurse Joy shouted and my pokemon leapt off me and allowed me to sit up in my spot.
"I don't know quite how they'd hurt me, I feel pretty fine other then a dull echo of pain, but I hardly feel that." I shrugged it off and pulled my pokemon back toward me. "Why are you freaking out so much?"
"Don't you remember what happened Violet?" Nurse Joy questioned softly.
"Uh… you mean with Rose right? Being cursed by her haunter? Don't do it yourself cuz that's not a fun experience."
"And you're not in any pain?"
"Like I said, there's a dull echo of it throughout my body and my head, but other then that, I feel pretty alright, nothing else hurts."
"That's good to hear, the boys will be happy to see you're awake as well. They've been worried sick since you collapsed that night."
"Nurse Joy… how long was I out for?" The nurse looked away from me for a moment before she sighed and turned back to face me.
"You've been out for a few days Violet; we were all worried that you wouldn't wake up."
"A few days?" I gasped. I didn't think I was out that long! It felt like it'd only been the night before.
"I also have to sadly inform you that your mother was notified and is on her way with Professor Oak. We've been asked by the police to detain you until she arrives and decides what to do with you, but I don't believe you'll sit still and wait for that to happen."
"Do I ever?" I rolled my eyes at the idea. "I'll get my stuff together, where are the guys though? I'll travel with them so they can keep an eye on me and not freak out."
"They went over to Celadon City to get their matches against Erika and battle against her. With the media and all of Erika's customers at the site of the discovered Team Rocket base by yourself, Erika's had little to no customers and has been training. Those boys of yours might have a hard time defeating her now compared to you. I'll give Erika's gym a call however and let the boys know that you're awake and waiting on them before you leave so they know to hurry. And they better, you're mother will be here within the next few hours." Nurse Joy walked off to the video phones and picked on up.
"Sorry about worrying you guys," I told my team. Chalcedony curled up into my lap and looked up at me with his beady eyes.
"Ee eevee ee?" he questioned me.
"Yeah, I'll be fine; I'll just need some more rest when we stop again tonight in a few hours down routes twelve, thirteen, fourteen and fifteen. I'm not sure which one we'll end up on, but I know we need to make some good distance before my Mom gets here."
"Rai raichu raichu rai," Amber muttered.
"Rauu…" Amethyst whined slightly and shook her head.
"You're right, you're better off not knowing her right now." I sighed and looked over to the phones. "You know, it's been a while since we gave Luke a call, we'd best do that since he's probably back from Celadon now and we never ran into him, and talk to Bill and Lovey too." My pokemon nodded and we walked over to the phone booth.
I quickly put in the number to Luke's place for when he didn't have work, since he gave it to me a short while ago. I didn't get any answer from it. I then tried the shop after that and when the phone was picked up, it was another voice that came on from the other side.
"Viridian Market Store, how may I help you sir or ma'am?"
"Hello… um… would your employee Luke Anima happen to be at the store at this time, or would you happen to know his whereabouts?"
"Luke? Why he's still off on his business trip to the shops around Kanto," the man said. "He should be on his way to Fuchsia City by now… well, that is if they removed the snorlax that's been blocking the paths to Fuchsia."
"Oh, well thank you, good bye now." I shut off the phone before the guy could ask me anything and dialed next for Bill number. I guess I'd still have a chance to run into Luke after all. But I thought that he was on a vacation? Does that small trip I know he had to take to Celadon he told me about his business trip his boss noted-
"Hello?" I got after a couple rings. Bill's image came on the other end and I saw that Lovey wasn't with him. Oh well, I can find and talk with Luke later and set stories strait.
"Hey Bill, it's me, Violet."
"Violet!" He fell out of the chair he was in and crashed onto the ground. "Lovey! Violet's on the phone!" A lot of noise too place on the other side before I saw Bill jump upright with my zubat on his shoulder. Her wings were still bandaged, but it looked like most of the ones that were around her body were gone.
My zubat cried out happily when she saw me and raised her wings as high as it could with the bandage on, which wasn't very far, but she was happy and that was all that mattered to me.
"What's up guys? Sorry I took so long to reply back, I got knocked out by a Team Rocket member's pokemon that used curse, and yes it was a ghost type," I answered Bill's question even before he could ask me.
"Well it's good to hear from you anyway Violet. We're been worried after we saw all the reports. How did you ever handle so many battles at once in one day?" Bill asked me in wonder. "And better yet, are you alright?"
"I'm fine, some more rest and I'll be back at one-hundred percent in a day or two." I rolled my shoulders to get a knot out of them. "And I couldn't just let Team Rocket do as they pleased, it'd wreak havoc on the region."
"Sounds just like you Violet, and it's good to hear from you."
"So you said. Everything alright back up in Cerulean?"
"Nothing bad has happened if that's what you're asking, and Lovey's recovering pretty quickly. She'll probably be ready to travel soon, though I wouldn't recommend putting her into battle."
"Why not?"
"Lovey's been showing some… detest of battling. She's battled against other pokemon in the area should she be in trouble, but other then that, she really doesn't like it."
"I'm not really surprised after what Team Rocket did to her." I sighed. "It was either this or revenge, and to be honest, I'm glad it's not the latter." I looked over at the zubat that hung her head. "Chin up Lovey, it's alright if you don't want to battle, you don't have to be upset over that. Once things get cleared up at home, you'll be able to stay home with my mother and help her out, keep her sane and what not. I think she'd really like you, you're a bit like her in that retrospect." My zubat looked up at me. "You're kind and care for those you love, and only fight when necessary. That's how my Mom is, added in with a bit of psychotic thoughts and actions mind you, which I haven't quite seen yet." My zubat quickly perked up and smiled at me, she waved about her wings and the others waved back at her.
"Oh! That reminds me, I don't believe you guys have met yet." I picked up Chalcedony in my arms and held him up to the screen. "This is Chalcedony, the newest member of our team and family. Chalcedony, meet Lovey, Lovey, meet Chalcedony." The two pokemon greeted each other over the chat and soon enough I heard the door behind me rush open. I turned my head and watched as Alex and Vince rushed inside, breathing heavily. "Uh oh, sorry guys, but we gotta get out of here. The boys just got back and we need to bolt before my mother arrives here and tries to stop me permanently."
"We understand Violet. Call us again when you get a chance." Billy and Lovey both said their goodbyes and soon enough I returned Amethyst to her pokeball and carried Chalcedony while Amber hopped on my shoulders before I hurried over to the guys.
"So I guess we're leaving?" Before I got my answer, my brother and Alex both rushed at me and wrapped me up in their arms. This was a normal display of affection from my brother should anything have happened, but from Alex? This was new; a new side of him that I only saw glimpses of every now and then.
When he pulled back to look at me, his face flushed red at the same time as mine. He slowly released me from his hold and soon, so did my brother that apparently didn't notice Alex's and my moment, or chose to ignore it.
"Sis, don't you dare scare us like that again!" Vince snapped. "Do you have any idea how long you were out for?"
"A few days." He rolled his eyes angrily. "I was already told that by Nurse Joy, now before we get stuck here for another hour or so, we better get before Mom gets here, I don't wanna be around for that reunion."
"She's right, and I'm willing to bet Gramps'll be coming too," Alex murmured. "We'd better go. I'll get our stuff from upstairs."
"I'll help you out." Vince ran up with him before he stopped at the stairs. "Oh, hey Sis, the guy we saved in the tower wanted to see you before we headed out. It's the guy that lived across from the pokemon center, his name's Mr. Fuji." Before I could get out another word, my brother and Alex were gone and I was left only with my pokemon and myself. I sighed. Well… alright then, since the only thing I have to do left is leave town.
I stepped out of the pokemon center and quietly as I could and avoided the eyes of most people by keeping my hat down over my head as I crossed the street. Sadly though, people still began to notice me as I came up to the house and knocked on the door. It was quickly opened and a small old man stood there with a soft smile, looking up at me.
"Ah, you must be Violet Vilmos. I hope your feeling better my dear." The old man said to me. "Oh where are my manners?" He quickly moved aside and gestured me to step inside. "You must still be tired after what that horrible woman did to you and there's so many obnoxious people looking at you out there. Step inside and I'll make you a quick cup of tea and tell you a tale before you scurry out of town."
I thanked him and hurried inside. The cute little man named Mr. Fuji hurried into the other room, and I couldn't help but think how sweet and cute he was for an old man (as would any woman around my age or older or so, though I just mean that he looks good in his old age and he's doing well.) He was a smaller old man, both my size and weight or less. He was bald with a few thick wrinkle lines on his forehead. A white button up shirt had its sleeves rolled up at his elbows and brown slacks for pants. Dark brown shoes covered his feet and a yellow apron of sorts covered the front of him over his clothes. I saw that in the small living room he'd left me in there was many young pokemon, mostly female and male nidoran and a couple children who were playing and taking care of them.
'Thank you for waiting my dear." Mr. Fuji walked back inside and handed me a small cup and saucer that contained a thick red colored tea. "It's a strawberry mint; I do hope you enjoy it." I took the cup and brought it to my lips, tasting the sweet minty taste that gave my mouth a slight chill after the liquid had rolled down into my throat.
"Its perfect, thank you," I told him. "My brother had told me you wanted to see me before I left town?" I lowered the saucer and its cup to the table next to me and the man gestured me to sit down next to him on the couch.
"That I did," the old man said. "I wanted to give you my own personal thanks for what you have done the night a while back. You not only saved me and the cubone from a horrible suffering, but you have also calmed the dead spirit of their mother, Marowak."
"You mean the ghost I fought that was a ground type pokemon?" I questioned.
"Of course, she herself had been captured by that horrible gang Team Rocket awhile back while her children were left to take care of themselves while she was gone. I cared for her children while she was gone until she died in their hidden base within Celadon that you discovered. Her spirit then protected the tower and her children that lived there ever since. We found her body and gave it a proper burial along with a shrine to remember her by. I tell her tale to many young trainers each day to teach them the importance of loving their pokemon and to make their bonds strong, just like that of the family which Marowak had before her death."
I lowered my head. "Its such a sad story, I wish I could have saved her sooner…"
Mr. Fuji shook his head and patted my shoulder. "There is sadly nothing you could have done my dear. You are just still a beginning trainer, even though you have accomplished so much in the few months that you have been a trainer. Marowak's time ended before you had even reached the age of ten. Though," he paused for a moment and raised his fingers and gently grasped them around his chin. "There was a man who felt the same way, he had been friends with Marowak and visited her grave often to pay her respects. He was also a person just like you young Violet, he had a strong will and was brave, he wasn't afraid to place himself in the line of fire to save another, whether it be human or pokemon. He looked quite a bit like you as well and had tried to save her…"
"He looked like me?"
"Quite, he had dark colored hair that may be darker then both you and your brother have, but he had dark brown eyes and a face similar to both of you. He was quite a positive person and had quite an ability to leave every pokemon center or household he stayed at empty for food."
"Was…" I felt my heart welt up as I prayed it be who I thought I'd be. "Was his name Haze?"
"Hmm! Yes, it was!" he said in a surprised manor. "Did you know him?"
"He's my dad… he disappeared a couple years ago." I sighed. "I've heard little bits about him here and there, and I hoping to put together all the pieces and find out what happened to him. And you said that he got mixed up with Team Rocket too? We never heard anything about it."
"Your father was also a good man who was able to keep secrets and make sure he wasn't caught by anyone who could identify him, at least not after he disappeared."
"What happened? Mr. Fuji, do you know something?"
"He stopped here for a short while before he planed to stop Team Rocket in an apparent secret base they had near a set of caves and mountains by the Indigo Plateau. I remember that there was an explosion in the area a few days after he left, but I'm afraid that's all I know about your father. I haven't see nor heard of him since."
"And that was two years ago?"
"That was two years ago. I'm sorry Violet."
"It's not your fault." I took another sip of my tea before I set it down. "Thank you for this conversation, I'm glad to found out more about my dad."
"Oh, before you go, I have something for you." Mr. Fuji rose from his seat and walked over to a box off to the side. He pulled out a large item that reminded me of a cream colored recorder instrument with a pokeball on the end of it. He handed me the item and smiled. "You might have a hard time getting to Fuchsia City without this, it's called a pokeflute. It's a musical item that's used to awaken a sleeping pokemon, mostly snorlax, without aggravating them. It's soothing and wakes them up without making them angry, even if they've had little sleep. You can use this to get by the snorlax that block the routes that lead toward Fuchsia City. You can also use it in battle if one of your pokemon has fallen asleep. It's a hard to find item, so use it well."
"Wait, you're giving me this and not letting me borrow it?" I pushed it back toward him. "That's too rare of a gift for me to accept."
Mr. Fuji simply laughed at my actions and pushed it back into my hands. "That doesn't matter, I may have gotten the thing, but I'll never use it. It's better to be used on the road with you, where I know it'll be used. Please take it."
"… Are you sure about me taking it?"
"Incredibly." The man gave me no hesitation in his voice and I knew I had no choice. I gently pulled the flute into my hands and noticed how light the object actually was as I carried it. "Thank you Violet, you don't know what this means to me. Now you'd better run along before you get yourself into another pickle you might not be able to get out of."
I nodded to the man and led myself to the door, pokeflute in hand, and hurried back over to the pokemon center to wait for my brother and Alex. To my surprise the boys were already there and waiting with all their stuff in hand. I hurried up to them and Alex silent nodded to me before pointing his head south of the town. Vince and I nodded to him and we followed our good friend out of town before my mother came here and ended it all.

About an hour out of town, the boys and I took a quick break right outside the area where the snorlax hat was resting was. Not a word was spoken between us since we left town, and for what reason, I didn't know. The atmosphere felt tense, and I didn't know what possibly could've gone on between the boys to make it so… angry. I made me nervous to speak out, but sooner or later, it had to happen, and I think its best if I start it if we do.
I took a good drink of the water container that Alex had been kind enough to fill up for me before and watched as my brother glared at Alex in turn as he sat next to me. It was getting on my nervous as the time passed so that it started to put me on edge. I didn't care for this kind of atmosphere, and neither did my pokemon. Chalcedony (like always) was glaring at Alex while Amber actually took it on herself to glare at my brother.
"Alright you two, what the hell happened?" I rose from my seat and looked down at the two boys that had been on either side of me while they drank.
"Sis, sit down, it's nothing," my brother told me as he continued to glare at the boy beside him. I growled and shot my hand out to pinch his eat and lift him from his spot. My brother howled and hissed at the sudden pain in such a tender area before I dropped him in another spot with some distance between the two of them.
"I will not sit down, nor will I tolerate this silent dispute between you and Alex. Enough is enough, end it or I take a hike down south without the two of you." Their eyes both widened and they jumped in fear.
"No!" they both shouted. I snorted and rolled my eyes while my arms crossed themselves and I glared back at them.
"Then tell me what's going on."
"Nothing's going on Violet." Alex tried to reassure me with a concerned face. A quick glance at my brother however hardened his features and the two held their gaze.
"That's a load of tauros shit and you know it!"
"Sis, calm down."
"I will not calm down until you two get your acts together!" I angrily huffed and shoved my water container back into my bag and carried my pokeflute in my hand while Amber was on my shoulders and Chalcedony being help by my other arm and promptly stomped away from the area.
I suddenly gasped in the next second when I felt two hands grip my wrists from behind me. I immediately knew they were Alex's from the color of his skin and the fact that he was the only one who dared grabbed me like that. I struggled against his hold and Chalcedony hissed and reached to bite him, but his arm that held the one that held my male pokemon was under mine, which prevented him from bending over to reach it.
"Let go of me Alex." I struggled against his hold but he just held me tighter. "If you don't let go of me, I'll show you how much better my kicking's gotten since the last time I hit you there!" He immediately let go of arms and I jumped back long enough to regain my stance before his hand reached out again and grabbed my free hand. My pokemon began to get testy and Amber's checks were sparking, Chalcedony was creating a shadow ball, Amethyst was about ready to pop out of her pokeball.
"I'm sorry, but please just listen for a moment Violet." Alex sighed. An angry humming came from my throat but I didn't move. "Your brother and I had an argument earlier today that didn't end well, and it was over the subject of you. We'd rather not talk about it because it's a subject we're not sure how you'd react to. Vince and I will work it through, but we need a little more time. I promise I'll do my best to keep calm and lift this atmosphere if Vince will, and if you don't leave."
"I can agree to that if you can Sis," Vince added in quietly.
"As soon as Alex releases my wrist." The young man did so and I rubbed it to get some of the circulation back. "But you boys better cool it. I've still got a headache from that curse attack and it's putting me on edge."
"Fair enough."

Alex had us move onto the next area and we came to the end of route twelve, just a short distance from where the snorlax had been seen blocking the path south. I had my pokeflute out and ready for when we found it to wake it, and all our pokemon were prepared for it should the snorlax decide to attack us rather then not like Mr. Fuji had told me.
"It should be right up ahead," my brother said as he looked at the map. "The entrance of route thirteen should be just before we reach the snorlax."
"And after that it's that route plus routes fourteen and fifteen too before we get to Fuchsia City, right?" Alex asked.
"Just about."
"I think I see the snorlax!" I pointed up ahead and the boys instantly looked away from each other to see the large mass of dark blue hinted green and tan skin. I gapped as I looked at its size as we got closer. If I thought Amethyst was huge, snorlax was enormous! The pokemon's large paws and hands were quite fat and filled in like large round circles with claws with the entire thing being about the length of a couple humans and the same for width. Its stomach and chest were the largest part of its body being nearly twelve feet by eleven or so just on its own. Its head was actually the smallest part, nearly nestled in its non-existent shoulders. A large outline for a mouth was there and slits for eyes above that, pointy ears stuck out from its head, but there were no other characteristics to the pokemon, other then its loud snoring. I pulled out my pokedex for this very strange and apparently rare pokemon for as much trouble as it's caused.
Snorlax, the sleeping pokemon. Snorlax are not satisfied until it eats over eight-hundred and eighty pounds of food every day. When it is done eating, it goes promptly to sleep. It is very lazy in nature and as its rotund bulk builds, it becomes steadily more slothful. There are no positively know snorlax nests other then it's seen that they apparently come from the north-west mountains near the Indigo Plateau.
So it's rare, but not often in the area other then when it's eating. Not that shocking to be honest.
"Alright Sis, wake this thing up," Vince said as he prepared for any resistance. Alex and I did the same, releasing our starting pokemon to put up the best defense as I prepared for the worst. My two other pokemon jumped to the ground and watched the creature, ready to attack.
I placed the lip of the pokeflute to my mouth and placed my fingers over the holes. To my surprise, it was just like the recorder that my father taught me to play when I was just a little girl. I breathed in deeply and played a few notes that came to mind, and to my surprise again, it was the same melody that my father would play for me every night before bed to sooth me to sleep.
I didn't even notice around me while I was played that the snorlax had waken up and risen from the ground to look down at me. I felt two arms grab me and it startled me which caused the note I was playing to screech. Both boys looked at me in worry and Vince stood before me protectively while Alex gripped my upper arms and held me close to him.
The snorlax in turn looked at us in question. "Snorlax snore?"
I suddenly broke from my surprised stance and pulled myself from the arms that protected me and I walked up to the snorlax. "Sorry for waking you up from your nap Snorlax, but we were wondering if you could go wake up your friend to the northeast and head back to the mountains, or at least move off the path here." I gestured to the area around us and the snorlax looked as well. "Because of where you'd chosen to sleep, people and pokemon alike have been having a hard time altogether trying to get around you and the other snorlax to the northeast of here to get to the city to the south. Would you mind to terribly moving please?"
The snorlax then for some reason smiled at me and lowered its paw toward me. The guys and the pokemon shouted, but I didn't move and waited to see what would happen. I felt a large bit of squishy skin pat the top of my head before it lifted away and the snorlax nodded to me before walking off into the woods with a yawn. I smiled and turned back to the guys.
"Not as I expected, but I'm alright with this ending." I walked over to my pokemon and placed my pokeflute on the side of my bag with a small chain clip I had and then picked up Chalcedony and Amber jumped back on my shoulders. "Let's see what ground we can cover before we loose the rest of this daylight." I turned to my large fire type pokemon. "You wanna stay out for a bit Amethyst? We'll be camping pretty soon with the sun setting as it is." She nodded and yawned lightly before she looked over at the others.
"Ruu." She pointed and I turned to follow where she was pointing to. I saw Alex, his blastoise, Vince, his ivy- wait, it wasn't an ivysaur…
"Hey Bro, I think you forgot to tell me that Ivysaur evolved." My brother turned and grinned at his pokemon and it grinned back at him.
"Happened while we were battling Erika, thanks for making her tougher for us by the way." I snickered at his whining.
"Oh pipe down, I found her battle easy since I used Amethyst and she evolved, and Chalcedony was pretty strong too, so I wasn't worried to much other then for poison." My brother scowled at me and Alex pushed us down the path.
"Let's get moving you two, you can argue after we've found a good spot for camp tonight."
HalloweenWitchHalloweenWitch
"This looks like a good spot." The boys and I looked over the area that I'd found. We'd been in a mostly water and bridge area until nearly on the edge of routes thirteen and fourteen. It was a large patch of land that was slightly sticking out into the water and was large enough for a fire, our pokemon, us and more. Alex nodded and approved of my choice and Vince quickly got to work looking for wood for a fire and I pulled out a few packages of berries from all our packs while Alex set up our sleeping bags.
Once I was done, I looked back over at my brother's pokemon, the evolved form of Ivysaur, also known as Venasaur. I pulled out my pokedex quickly to get some information on the pokemon before my brother or it noticed while they were busy.
Venasaur, the seed pokemon. Its plant blooms when it is absorbing solar energy. A bewitching aroma wafts from this flower plant and is said to becalm those engaged in battle. It tends to stay on the move to seek sunlight. There are no known venasaur nests in the region.
With the information happily in hand, I returned my device to my bag and sat down with the berries over by my sleeping bag while Alex helped out Vince with the wood. They had a horrible time starting the fire before Amethyst nearly blew their faces off lighting it herself when she got annoyed at the cold nipping around her and not wanting us to get cold. My pokemon all wrapped around me to stay warm and keep me warm, it was actually quite cozy, especially with Amethyst keeping us warm. She was the heater on my team that I quite enjoyed whenever we had to spend nights in caves out in the open area where it was cold.
"Ah… now we can rest for a bit." My brother sighed and leaned back against his venasaur that had laid down behind him. The pokemon was already out like a light and my brother's other two pokemon, onix and machop, were out and about as well. Onix had coiled up next to Venasaur and was sleeping as well while Machop was still too energetic and sat itself in my brother's lap and tried to reach for the fire, which my brother had a hard time trying to prevent that from happening, and suddenly realized he wasn't going to be getting a break anytime soon.
"So much for your break Vincy." I snickered.
"Shut it Vi, your pokemon give you just as much grief."
"Oh really? How?"
"Chalcedony hates Alex and always hits, bites or shoots shadow balls at him. Amber throws a temper tantrum every time her mother comes up in a conversation-"
"Rai raichu rai!" My electric mouse shouted at the young man I called brother and electrocuted him. My brother screamed from the shock and ended up a burnt crisp.
"Or maybe she just doesn't like you," I retorted. "And don't you dare start on Amethyst or she'll burn your face clear off." My charizard in turn hissed at Vince and puffed out a large sum of fire at him to prove our point. He sprang up and coward back in fear.
His little machop however didn't like that its trainer was being put down as Vince was and stomped up Chalcedony, I'm guessing because it could actually make a dent on him since Chalcedony was a normal type. The two of them growled at each other before Chalcedony put it in its place with an iron tail to its side, throwing it into the trees. Chalcedony huffed and crawled back into my lap and curled up to sleep. The machop soon came out of the woods with a bruise on its side and crawled into my brother's lap.
"Fricken monster pokemon…" my brother mumbled. All of my pokemon growled at him and suddenly smelled a sweet scent in the air. Vince's venasaur must have woken up from all the noise and released the scent the pokedex was talking about to calm us down.
"Speaking of monster pokemon actually, now that I can think clearer," I nodded over to Venasaur for that. "Have either of you heard about the monster pokemon that have been getting angry at the Team Rocket activity in the region?"
"Huh?" My brother looked utterly clueless to my question.
"Actually, I have," Alex said. "Why bring it up now though?"
"I just thought of it when my brother mentioned 'monster pokemon'. I remembered hearing about this when I was talking with some older man in Pewter City who wanted to get a pikachu for his daughter."
"I was talking with Gramps about it, he was telling me about these legendary birds that lived in three different sections of the region," Alex explained. "There was Zapdos, the legendary bird of lighting, Moltres, the legendary bird of fire, and Articuno, the legendary bird of ice. The three of them have their own dwelling places in the Kanto region, but no one's been able to find them, nor does anyone have a solid image of any of the legendary birds. Though you apparently can tell them apart by their colors, Zapdos is yellow and black, Moltres is tan with fire coming out of certain places on its body, and Articuno is a lighter sapphire blue with ice flecks flying off its body that apparently gives it some sparkles."
"I can actually think of some ideal places where they apparently could be." The boys looked at me in wonder. "When I was talking to the older man in Pewter City, he was telling me about how pokemon were retreating to and hiding inside three major areas, besides escaping out of the region to evade Team Rocket's wrath. One of the places was the old abandoned power plant, and that wouldn't surprise me if Zapdos was there. There was also the Seafoam Islands, since it's a mostly water and ice area, Articuno would be best suited to live there. Then off the coast of Kanto, on an island called One Isle, there's apparently a volcano called Mt. Ember, which I'm more then willing to bet Moltres would be living at."
"That's pretty interesting…" Alex mused. "Once we get stronger, we could explore these places and try to talk with those pokemon to understand them. And they sound pretty powerful; maybe they might battle with us."
"If they don't kill you first!" my brother said worriedly. "Didn't you hear my sister? Those pokemon are on edge and hiding, those legendary birds will think we're trying to hurt them and end up attacking us!"
"We won't know until we try, maybe we can convince them we're helping. We've been beating back Team Rocket so far, and they're not that hard to beat." I argued against my brother's words and it just made him pull at his hair.
"That's enough for tonight I think," Alex said over us before another argument could start. "Let's just get some sleep, we still have another couple routes to travel through to get to Fuchsia City. And then we've got a few things to take care of there before we leave."
"What's there to do besides the gym?" my brother questioned.
"Well… from what I've seen on the map and what Gramps and Daisy told me, there's an area called the Safari Zone in Fuchsia City where wild pokemon that are quite rare can be caught. I'd like to go there and see what I can find."
"Sounds cool, I'll have to see if I can get some new pokemon for my team there too…" I yawned and curled into my pokemon. "Night guys…"
Alerxander's Point of View:
As soon as we saw Violet's breathing even out and knew she was asleep, Vince turned to me in such a rush and with such a furious face on him, I nearly started to fear him, and I'd never done that. Vince was a cool guy, he didn't lose his temper like he had today, but he lost it over the subject of my apparent 'possessiveness' over his sister, which he didn't like.
"You know, I really wish you'd stop planning these dangerous play dates for you and my sister." He hissed at me quietly.
"Who's planning anything?" I retorted. "I just suggested it to her since it sounded like something she'd want to check in on with Team Rocket and Rose on the loose."
"I'd rather my sister didn't die if you don't mind."
"I'm not trying to kill her, I'm just trying to work with her rather then against her like we have before. Violet's not dumb, she won't get in something she knows is over her head, but she's not about to turn down a challenge either. If it means saving and helping these pokemon and anyone else that ends up in the cross fire, I know she'll do it, with or without us, and I'd rather with us, wouldn't you?"
"That's not the point! You're giving her ideas on how to get herself into more trouble, and none the less, you're taking a liking to her. Now I know I'm a pretty lax guy, but when it comes to my sister, I'll kick your ass if you mess with her."
"Vince! Keep it down!" I hissed. "I told you I haven't figured out my feelings for her yet and I'd rather you stop pushing me in a million directions!"
"You sure?" he questioned sarcastically, crossing his arms and glaring at me. "I think otherwise with the way you act around her. The protectiveness, the possessiveness, carrying her bridal style out of the tower and into the pokemon center, sitting by her side until Nurse Joy and I finally pulled you away from her so we could get our heads on strait with a battle with Erika, I could say more, but I think I've got a good starting list here."
A warm flush came over my face without me being able to prevent it. "Shut up, I was worried about her."
"Dude, she's my sister, you think I wasn't about to rip out my hair in worry?" Vince sighed and looked at me a bit calmer. "Look Alex, the sooner you tell me you like my sister the sooner we can put this behind us. I realize that she's not about to stop doing what she's been doing with all the craziness, but I'd like to know if you'll be there by her side wherever she goes."
I turned away from him to hide the uncountable deeper blush that was on my face. "I'm not falling for your sister, now drop it." I heard Vince sigh, but he didn't say another word as he commanded his venasaur to give us a light sleep powder to put the rest of us under. I snuggled into the side of Blastoise's shell and Kadabra and Growlithe curled into my body as we settled into a deep sleep.
Violet's Point of View:
The morning came bright and early for the lot of us, and for once, I actually found myself refreshed under such small amounts of sleep. I stretched from my spot surrounded by my pokemon and gently moved them from my body so I could get up and walk over the stream. I set my hands down into the cool water and splashed a bit on my face to wake me up further.
When I turned back to look at our makeshift camp, I saw that the fire had gone out in the night or the boys had put it out. I was warm enough, so it didn't bother me. Apparently the boys had also settled their argument or whatever went on between the two of them since they were sleeping near each other when I looked over at them as I headed back.
"Some berries should help us get back on our feet…" I quietly looked around for any berries in the area that we could snack on until we got to Fuchsia. I looked around in the bushes in the small area we'd claimed last night as our sleeping area. It took me a short while, but eventually I was able to find some berries that would last us until we got to the next city. I gathered them in a few boxes we had the last berries we'd purchased in and took them back to camp.
I expected us to make it there by nightfall at the latest today, depending on how long it took to get the boys up, but it was never hard to get those two up. They always wanted to be on the go and see new rare pokemon and battle more powerful people. I couldn't blame them though; I was excited for that too. I was even thinking about catching some new pokemon before heading to the fifth gym. As much as I loved the team I had, I'd need more to help me out in the future (and I need another guy pokemon on my team so Chalcedony wouldn't be by himself in that department.)
I headed back to camp quickly and rolled my eyes at my pokemon as I watched them sleep. Chalcedony was still curled up into a little ball of fur that was pressed into Amber's side. Amber herself was leaning back against Amethyst's stomach while Amethyst was sleeping on her side, one leg on the ground, the other bent upward over it and one arm gently laid on the ground while the other propped up her head, she must have watched out for anyone last night until she fell asleep.
I rolled my eyes at them, it was so cute, especially with Amethyst having a bubble slowly expand and shrink with her breathing from her nose, and Amber's tail was only a few inches from it since her tail was somehow propped up against her neck. I watched the disaster waiting to happen from a safe distance and ate some berries.
Suddenly, it happened. Amber's tail fell just right and it popped the bubble. Amethyst roared in surprise and shot off a large flamethrower toward the boys without realizing it, startling everyone awake and managing to blast off both Alex and Vince's faces. I laughed at the sight and everyone turned to look over at me, the boys looks had been angry.
"Violet!" my brother snapped.
"Did you do this?" Alex questioned me harshly.
"In your dreams maybe brother dearest and my dearest best friend, but no, I didn't. This was all naturally set up. I actually found it quite shocking when I woke up to see that, but I've only been awake long enough to gather berries for breakfast and watch this little event unfold." I turned to my pokemon. "Good shooting by the way girl, do you have some sort of homing system in your head to hit only the boys' faces? That was funny."
Amethyst only scratched the side of her head nervously when the boys looked over at her and then me while I laughed my ass off. Chalcedony soon joined me when he saw Alex's face and then stuck his tongue at the young man. Alex growled back and suddenly leapt to his feet and chased after my tiny pokemon. Chalcedony screeched in fear and bolted behind Amethyst for protection and easily got it when Amethyst nearly blasted his face off a second time this morning. Poor Alex stepped back from my starting pokemon and sighed before he turned back to me.
"You mind handing over some of those berries?" The look he gave me was nearly a desperate one that showed me he must've had a rough night, it could have been that argument between them over me, but what for I can only guess is that Alex's finally taking my side and trying not to hold me back, like apparently brother wants to do.
"Take what you want," I handed over the box I'd placed them in. "I've got plenty more." He easily grabbed the box from me and ate a few of them before throwing a few up into the air for Growlithe to eat, catching them in its mouth. He handed a few to Kadabra and a large portion to Blastoise, who ate them up quickly and then Alex had the last small bit that should last us until the Fuchsia City. My brother went after the other box I'd filled and started to hand it out to his own pokemon and I did the same.
"So what's the plan now?" my brother questioned with a mouth full of berries, some falling from the edges of his mouth and Alex and I glared at him in disgust.
"First, swallow your food before you talk Vincent." Vince growled but did as ordered by myself. "Second, we have to finish our trip to Fuchsia City today, we have two more routes to pass though, other then that and battling a few trainers here and there, it should be a pretty easy walk."
"Good, let's get moving and get there before your mother and Gramps end up finding us here and taking us back," Alex said as he gathered his things. "Because I know that the two of them are gonna be pissed when they finally catch up with us."
"I'd rather face that later then sooner, let's go girls, Chalcedony." My three pokemon nodded and I returned Amethyst to her pokeball and Chalcedony jumped into my arms and Amber onto my shoulders where the two of them normally situated themselves and I waited on my brother and Alex to finish up. Once they were packed up and ready to go, we soon hurried off down route fourteen to enter the last route before we would head to Fuchsia City.

The hours had been long and exhausting. I was getting tired once more. I was getting restless, as were the others as well. The set of routes were too long for our liking and I knew that next time, we were taking a ride on Amethyst.
"Are we there yet?" My brother groaned and cried out for the umpteen time and I was about ready to blow him over. Thankfully for me, my pokemon were already a step ahead of me and Chalcedony blasted his face with a shadow ball. My brother yelled upon impact and glared at my eevee, but didn't make a move against him with the agitated looks he received from the four of us.
"We'll get there when we get there Vince, now shut it!" Even Alex was starting to loose his patience that he apparently always had so much of, but we were ready for a new adventure already. We'd hardly seen any trainers on the route and without a battle to keep us going, we were bored. And that was a dangerous thing in itself.
"Raichu!" Amber suddenly cried out and she pointed out since she could see the highest of us all by being on top of my head. I suddenly then had the energy to rush forward and I soon saw it too, the tops of buildings off in the distance to the city that was just a mile or so from the sea. I grinned as I watched the top of the city come into view.
"She's right! I see it too! There's Fuchsia City!" The boys quickly perked up and rushed after me as we bolted down the rest of the trail toward the city. We were ready to be back on track with what we'd planned, but with most of the day being over; it was most likely that we'd have to wait until tomorrow to do anything.
With the sun setting now, just as its orangey glow turned red to black, we reached the entrance to the city and the lookout there greeted us with a smile that was good to see after traveling so long without another face by my brother and Alex (though it was really that bad, I just hated seeing nothing but routes for the passed twenty-four hours!)
"Welcome to Fuchsia City travelers! Shops are beginning to close down for the evening, along with the gym and Safari Zone, so I'm afraid to tell you you'll have to wait until tomorrow for those things, but please enjoy your stay over at the pokemon center and enjoy a good night's rest and you'll be prepared to soar out of here once your business is done."
"No offence…" I told the man with a smirk. "But that's a really strange greeting."
"Only the best for our crime fighting trainer that cleared up the routes from those annoying snorlaxes." I blinked a few times at the man and he smiled. "Your work was noted by some of the locals near the spot where the snorlaxes were. You're quite the busy little bee, aren't you Violet Vilmos?"
"I guess I am." I shrugged. "We better get going though, I wanna be up bright and early for the Safari Zone, I need some more pokemon, and I'm sure Chalcedony would like to be not the only male member too." My eevee nodded his head and curled into my arms while Amber laughed at him from on my shoulders.
"Good to hear, the Safari Zone opens at eight, so you'll have plenty of time to get over here in the morning for a good go at the pokemon there," the man replied.
"How much is it to get in?" Alex questioned. "I mean, I know with the money we make from battles we'll get in, but I'm just wondering how much of a chuck it is."
"It's not too bad I don't think, but you kids may have a different opinion then me. You can spend a max time of six hours in there with thirty of their specially made safari balls for five hundred dollars."
"That's actually a really good deal I think," I noted to the boys as they nodded. I turned back to the man. "Can we leave at any time we want should we think we've gotten what we've wanted?"
"Of course, sadly though, there's no refund if you choose you don't want to do it once you've entered. Once you've paid, you're in and you money's gone. Too many people tried to sue the money out of them so they had to make that rule."
"It doesn't really surprise me with this greedy world we live in now," Alex muttered.
"Everyone's greedy…" Vince agreed silently.
"Well, anyway, we should get going. Thanks for the information." The man nodded and allowed us through to the city, it was a bit larger then Lavender Town, but it wasn't as busy as some of the other cities we've seen. It was also starting to shut down and darken for the night as the black and blue sky settled in with its twinkling stars.
"It's so pretty…" I murmured. I felt one of the boys place their hand on my shoulder and I was surprised to see it was Alex.
"Just like home," he whispered. "No matter where we go, we're always under the same sky, the same stars, the same moon." I turned to look up at him as the reflection of all these things glowed on the glossy covering of his eyes. It was suddenly gone the next second when he turned to look back at me and we held each other's glance.
It was almost like I was trapped there… and… I didn't mind it…
"Violet!" A sudden shout broke the trance that was placed upon us and my eyes raced to that which called my name. Off in the distance I saw a blond haired man, dressed formally, though it was un-tucked and loosened due to the night settling in and he held his arms wide. "It's about time I ran into you out here!"
I gasped in surprise and smiled at him before running away from the boys. Amber and Chalcedony were kind enough to free up my arms and body as I ran until my face was deep in the guy's chest in happiness.
I grinned as I looked up at the man. "It took you long enough to find me Luke, where have you been?"
Witch's Note:
Damn, it's about time we made it to another area right? This was more or less a filler chapter to get the guys in gear for some of the future stuff as well as working more with Violet and Alex and get us to Fuchsia City. I think I'll take a break now since I've got some work to do soon! And guess what my dear readers! Violet will be getting more members for her team! Two to be exact! Try and guess which ones though!
Love you all and please remember to Review and send in any Questions! I'll see you next week!
