Pokѐmon Journey I: Violet's Trial

Chapter 15: Eventful Day

Violet's Point of View:

When the morning came in so soon, I nearly wanted to shut the blinds up and say 'to hell with it'. But I couldn't, I promised my team and I that we'd go and get ourselves some new team members and friends for all of us, plus, I need a hand when it comes to this new gym since it's a poison type and I don't have much experience with those.

I was happiest of all yesterday when we finally arrived here and when we ran into Luke after so long of not being able to chat with him, it gave me a strange unknown energy to talk to him. I shrugged off the idea though when I realized we were all tired and it was best just to go to bed and talk in the morning. So we agreed to talk at breakfast.

I yawned and stretched from the bed I slept in. Chalcedony and Amber had been curled into my sides while Amethyst decided to take up most of the leg room for herself. Although she preferred to sleep inside her pokeball during the day, at night she preferred to sleep next to me and the others. I'm not sure if it's some sort of protectiveness with her that she's developed since she evolved into a charizard, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was.

I withdrew her inside her pokeball for her morning nap and carried the others out of the room I'd shared with the boys, for once, I was up before them, and that's quite shocking to say the least. I brushed it off however and hurried down to the bottom level to see if Luke was up.

When I arrived down at the bottom of the stairs, I was surprised to see that Luke was already down there with a coffee in his hands, dressed for the day in a dress shirt and slacks. Whatever he's doing down here, it must be pretty important.

"Luke!" His head shot up when he heard my voice and he looked over at me with my tired pokemon. I saw him chuckle behind his hand before he motioned me over to his table. Amber and Chalcedony crawled out of my arms and onto the seat next to me once I sat down and curled back up into each other for more sleep while Luke and I quietly sat in the empty pokemon center café.

"It's good to see you Violet." He gestured to the menu before him. "Anything you want for breakfast? I'm buying."

"Now hold on a second mister!" He laughed as I pointed my finger at him accusingly. "You've been nothing but good to me for a while now and paid for a lot of my stuff, I'm paying, no ands, ifs or buts about it."

"Hey, you can't blame me for trying, right?" I rolled my eyes as he laughed. "I've already ordered, so go ahead and pick out whatever you want."

"Alright." It quieted down for us after that. I looked over the menu a few times before I thought that some chocolate would really get me going, and chocolate chip pancakes it was, with chocolate whipped topping and a side of sausage and hash browns. I was nearly drooling as I put in my order, but then I had to wait on it to be cooked.

"I see your 'helping others' streak hasn't faltered while I was gone." Luke commented as he took another sip of his coffee. "I swear all the fun stuff takes place while I'm not there."

"Yeah, fun…" I rolled my eyes. "You try getting hit by a curse attack head on. Now I know how most pokemon feel, it makes me pretty thankful that Chalcedony's a normal type, those types of moves don't affect him, but as a side back, so do any of his normal moves toward a ghost type."

"But doesn't he also know shadow ball?" the man questioned me. "That's your way around it, along with iron tail as well."

"Yeah, but that still doesn't mean we can be careless."

"I didn't say you had to be."

"Let's change topic." I said quickly before this went down a wrong road that I knew would be bad for us. "What exactly are you doing on your business trip down here?"

"Hm? My business trip?" Luke looked at me questioningly. "You sure you wanna hear about that."

"I just thought a different tone would suit better then the path we were about to walk down on. I get a bit touchy in that department and I'm still sour over what Rose did, that's why I wanted to change the topic."

"Fair enough." Luke nodded and cracked the side of his neck before he looked back at me. "Okay, to most of the people I'm just a clerk at the market in Viridian City, but to a very selective amount of people, they know what my real job is, and you're about to learn what it is?"

"What are you, like some sort of secret agent or something?"

"Half yes, half no." He shook his head. "I guess you could say I'm a secret agent for my boss in Viridian."

"How so?" I snorted and sarcastically let him keep rolling with the story he was telling me. I haven't even heard of it yet and it sounded a lot like a tauros shit pie.

"Well, my boss has me go undercover to all the shops in the region and, as a customer and an employee perspective, I find out what's good and bad, right and wrong, in each of the shops. If a customer or employee is mistreated by someone from our workforce, I gather the information about that person and have them fired, I also find leaks in the system if there happens to be anything stolen from the stocks." Luke paused for a moment to think. "Do you remember that Team Rocket set up that took place a year ago in Pewter City, where masses of cargo had been disappearing until an unknown undercover workman discovered them and turned them over to the authorities?"

"Yeah, it was one of the biggest heists in years and Team Rocket had made off with quite a bit of stuff," I replied. I then stopped for a moment and the wheels started to turn in my head, I looked back up at Luke with a surprised and disbelieving look on my face, but he only smiled.

"It was my first big operation, I was undercover for nearly a few months and the idiots made the mistake of asking me to join them for more labor. I had them set strait and with the police in a few weeks."

"I-wow…" I really had nothing to say or compare to what he had accomplished.

"Don't give me that look Vi, you've done just as much to others as I have," he told me sternly. "Hell, you took down a Team Rocket base and shut down their plans in Lavender Town with only your three pokemon and your brother and friend! That's a feature with them being so many and you being only a team of three."

"I guess… but I don't really count it since they're not really that strong. The only ones that really put up a fight are Rose and her boss, Giovanni."

"Giovanni? You mean like the name of the Viridian City gym leader?"

"Yeah, but I don't know what that gym leader looks like, nor his last name, so I can't compare."

"And I don't have a picture of him on me, but I'm sure I can get one later on, but I'm in the middle of checking out all the stores in the region at the time, apparently, someone's stealing stuff from our stocks again, and it wouldn't surprise me if it was Team Rocket."

"What's being stolen?"

"Evolution stones, potions, status healing potions, that's the gist of it."

"Wait…" Luke paused for a moment and let me have moment of silence to think. "What if the police catches you and thinks you're a bad guy? Wouldn't they arrest you?"

"I have this to protect me." He pulled out his wallet and in one of the back pockets he pulled out what looked to be an ID card, but it wasn't when you looked closer at it. A strange symbol that looked really important was a light washout in the background with color and a picture of Luke along with other information on the card.

"This information and the card itself are rare and hard to come by. Its also hard to copy since no one card is exactly alike. I show this to the police and they put it through a special scanner and it tells them all they need to know and to let me go."

"Wow… I wish I had something like that to escape my mother." Luke rolled his eyes and put away his card.

"It doesn't work like that Violet."

"A girl can dream, can't she?"

"I suppose she can; after all, she's saving an entire region in her free time, so we have to squeeze that in somewhere." We both laughed and enjoyed more conversations of just catching up with each other. Eventually our food came out as well and we chowed down as we continued to talk like we often had over the phone.

It was only about most of the way through our meal when the boys finally got up and decided to join us. Alex sat next to me on my side, careful not to wake the pokemon sitting between us and Vince sat on the other side of him next to Luke. Introductions to the lot of them didn't take long and my brother wasted no time ordering something large from the menu.

Alex sighed more times then I could count, and I noticed that he had an extreme lack of sleep last night due to the purple under his eyes. I got really worried after he ordered his third coffee when he never drank coffee before, it worried me.

"You okay Alex?" The young man in turn looked up at me while my brother was too busy stuffing his face and Luke did his best to let us settle anything out.

"Just tired, I didn't sleep well," he finally replied after a few moments.

"Did you and my brother have another argument?" Alex's body froze and shook for a moment before he nearly choked up his coffee. I slapped his back a few times before he finally settled down and he looked at me with shocked eyes. Did I guess right?

"Alex?" He breathed deeply and all of us had our eyes worriedly on him. He glanced at all of us before his eyes landed on Vince and they held each other gazes for a moment longer then they hand with the rest of us. Alex then suddenly stood up from his seat and walked out of the room. I leapt to my feet and jumped over my pokemon to the floor and was about to dash after him when a hand grasped my arm, and I knew it wasn't Alex's.

"Just give him some space Sis; he needs some time to think." Vince told me. I saw his eyes fly to the door though mid-sentence and it flared up my temper.

I yanked my arm from his grip. "Don't tell me what to do Vincent Vilmos! And stop all you're arguing with Alex! It's tearing him apart!" Without giving my brother a second glance, I rushed out of the pokemon center and hurried after Alex.

Alex seemed to disappear in the short amount of time it took for me to shove my brother off and start looking for him. I raced nearly everywhere around the city to look for him. When I didn't see him after a short while, it really made me worried for my normally snobby friend. It made me wonder what they're arguments were really about, was it me like Alex had said? If it was, why was it tearing him up so much on the inside?

I shoved the thought aside when I finally caught a glimpse of ginger-bronze hair. My eyes raced after it and I finally found him, standing outside of the Safari Zone. I pushed my legs harder against the ground and ran at him.

"Alex!" His head whipped around to look at me as I just barely stopped myself before crashing into him.

"Violet… what're you doing here?" He looked at me sadly, but he hid it pretty well behind his normal haughty attitude.

"I'm came here to talk to you of course." I stood up and took a deep breath. "Vince has no right to be doing this to you-"

"Vince hasn't been doing anything," he quickly argued back. "And I'm fine, I just needed some fresh air and I thought the best way to do that was coming out the Safari Zone."

"That's a ton of taros shit and you know it!" He looked away from me and sighed. My expression softened when I looked at his tired face. "Alex, what's going on? What is it that you two are arguing about?"

"Nothing!" he seethed through his teeth, the anger from his lack of sleep and short fuse shortening.

"If it's not anything; you wouldn't have bags under your eyes like you do." I couldn't believe that of all the times he choose to be stubborn as a fucken tauros, its now. "Why won't you tell me? Does it have to do with me again?"

Alex was silent, I saw him shaking in his spot while his head lowered and eyes squeezed tightly. Did I finally strike where all this is going? What about me is making the two of them butt heads so much now?

"Alex…"

"Violet…" He finally looked up at me; he nearly looked like he was holding back tears. It was such a shocking sight… I couldn't believe it… "I…" I waited anxiously for what he wanted to say. "I… I think we should separate for a little while after we leave the city."

"Separate?" As much as I think the idea was probably genius at the time, it almost seemed… like he was going to say something else, but changed his mind. His eyes clouded over before his strong façade took control and he nodded to me.

"Things have been a bit… stressful between all of us, especially me and Vince, for a long while now." Alex chose his words carefully. "I think we need a short break from each other, just to cool off and think by ourselves."

"I don't see why not," Alex blinked at me in surprise, probably thinking I was going to argue with him about it and try to keep us together. "You and my brother have been pretty stressed lately. A separation of at least the two of you would be good, and I can do some exploring of the region while I'm at it before I battle the gym leader in Saffron, hopefully the lockdown will be over by then."

"So you don't mind?" I shook my head.

"Not at all. If this separation helps you guys so you don't argue as much, I'll gladly take a leave of absence from the group for it." He nodded. "We should go separate ways after we finish things up here in the city, maybe even when we're inside the Safari Zone? I think it'd be easier on all of us."

"That's why I came out here before the rest of you. I'm gonna head there now and see if there's any pokemon I want to add to my team." I nodded and finally let the poor young man go and watched as he walked off, a depression like feeling to his stance.

"I hope you get better Alex…"

After I'd seen Alex off, I'd headed back to the pokemon center to retrieve my other pokemon so we could head to the Safari Zone and put a large chunk of distance between us and Alex so he could have the space he needed. When I got back though, I was surprised to see what I did see. My brother had been barbequed black and bite marks were all over his skin, I didn't know at the time what he did, but it certainly didn't look good.

Since my brother was out cold and being treated by Nurse Joy there with a first aid kit, Luke filled me in on the details. My brother apparently pissed off my 'monster pokemon' (as he tends to call my pokemon often) and they both attack him in their tiredly woken states; and without me around to calm them, my brother had a hard battle to fight, one that he lost, badly. Luke then decided afterward that he had to get back to his 'job' and left me to my own devices. I in turn grabbed my pokemon and hurried off with them to the Safari Zone to see some new pokemon in the area and get a new member or two for the team.

It didn't take long to reach the entrance to the large building that led to a large area with four different types of environments for pokemon to live in and thrive. Once I arrived at the building, I entered inside to see a very large seating area with two desks on either side of the opposing doors to the area in the back. On the walls were many lockers which probably were to place our own bags that we carried. The place seemed pretty quiet for the most part, most likely since routes eleven and six only just opened up with me asking the snorlaxs to leave, so it would take another day or so for it to get busy.

I walked up to one of the counters and waited for the man there to be done helping out the woman before me before she walked around back to the lockers. The man gestured me forward and I stood before the counter. "How can I help you miss? Going into the safari to get some new pokemon or a tour to see the pokemon? Either will be five hundred dollars."

"I'm going in to get some new pokemon please." I pulled out the money for the man and handed it over, once it counted it for himself and made sure it was the right amount, he nodded and put it in a cash register and pulled out a key for me. He handed it over.

"This key will be for your locker for while you're here and using the facilities of the Safari Zone. Inside your locker is a pack already made up of thirty safari balls, some bait and a rope, the rope is a new safety precaution we've had to take since a battle between the wild pokemon a short while ago that opened up holes in the ground to some underground caves beneath the forest area. The rules are simple; you must leave your pack here in the lockers and take only the one provided for you into the Safari Zone. You are allowed to take your pokemon inside with you and they may stay out of their pokeballs, but they are not allowed in any way shape or form to attack the wild pokemon here unless you're being attacked, but please only use that as a last option. You have a total of six hours from the time you leave this building, but there are also small break huts within each of the areas should you need one where your time will be stopped and you can relax and not focus on catching pokemon, this can be used as a time to scope out the area your in on the second floor in the observatory room. Your timer will be handed to you by one of our staff at the exit of this building once you enter the grassland area, to the north is a mountain area, to the west is a savanna and water area and to the east is a forest area. Is there anything else you want to know before hand or that you need me to explain again?"

"Nope, I'm all set." He nodded and motioned for the next customer to come forward. I hurried to the locker that had the same number as my key, lucky number thirteen, and opened it quickly. I pulled out the dark green pack inside and double checked that all the stuff he said was there was before I took off my own pack and set it inside and closed the door. I put the safari pack on my shoulder and put the key around neck (since it was on a long chain anyway) and walked past the desks and headed outside.

Once I saw the first area, the grasslands, it was a beautiful sight to see how well kept it was. A river ran through that area that seemed to come for the forest area to the east, but other then that, the grass was tall enough to hide a few pokemon beneath it. I saw a few pokemon already here since this was a more open area; I even recognized some of them as the two different genders of nidoran, their first evolutions: nidorino and nidorina, and some tauros. None of those types really seemed like what I wanted on my team, so I looked past them for any other pokemon. I saw at the very back of the field that there was a larger pokemon, two of them I remembered from Giovanni's team, kangaskhan and rhyhorn. Only a few of them I could just barely see at the back of the field, running from some trainers or getting mad and attacking them. I sighed and shook my head. You can only piss off a pokemon so much before they snap…

"Next!" The man before me in the line called and I stepped up to him. "First time?" I nodded to him and he grabbed a timer from his coat pocket before he pressed a few buttons on it and attached it to my belt next to Amethyst's pokeball. "I've set it for six hours, once your timer is up, if your not back at the entrance of the park, a wireless signal will be sent out from this to the closest employee in the area and they will collect you and send you back here where you can collect your items and leave. Should you want to come in for another six hours if you weren't able to catch all you wanted, just pay another five-hundred at the front desk and they'll let you keep the key you have and send you back out with a new pack fully equip with the same items as your last one." He patted my back and stepped back from me. "Enjoy. Next!"

I quickly stepped out of the man's way and let the other people behind me go next. The pokemon in this area seemed to not be of what I wanted for my team, so a different area should do nicely…

"Rai?" Amber questioned. "Raichu chu rai?"

"I think the forest will be a good place to start," I replied to my raichu. "It's bound to have some strong pokemon probably hiding in there. You two alright with heading in there first?"

"Ee!" Chalcedony nodded.

Amber nodded as well but then lifted her ears in question when she apparently heard something. "Rai?"

"What is it girl?" I looked over my shoulder at my raichu and she tilted her head in question. Chalcedony's ears suddenly picked up too and he jumped from my arms. "Chalcedony-!"

"Ee ee! Eevee ee!" He ignored my trying to talk to him and took off toward the forest area. Amber then jumped off my shoulders and took off after him, leaving me in the dust.

"Amber! Chalcedony!" I called out for the two of them, but they're bodies soon disappeared from sight and I growled. I pulled out Amethyst's pokeball and called her out. My fire type pokemon lumbered for a moment before she too turned her head toward the forest where my other pokemon had run off to.

"Amethyst, what's going on?" I questioned my shiny charizard. She listened in for another moment before her eyes narrowed.

"Rhuuu…" she roared gently.

"Someone's in trouble?" I questioned worriedly. "We'd better go help then!" I quickly grabbed onto my pokemon before she could leap without me too and Amethyst jumped into the air. "Follow them girl." My fire pokemon nodded and I grabbed onto the back of her horns and my legs settled back on either side of her neck. She leapt into the air and took off toward the forest area of the Safari Zone, and no one I saw around me bothered to look or help when they heard our distress over the matter.

HalloweenWitchHalloweenWitch

It didn't take Amethyst long to catch up with Amber and Chalcedony who ran on foot toward the apparent location where the pokemon was calling for help. Amethyst easily swayed back and forth as she flew to avoid the tress as it got thicker in the area. I finally saw below us that there was a crack in the ground, seeing the events of the holes that led to the underground caves; it could mean big trouble if a human or pokemon got stuck down in there.

My charizard suddenly landed once the trees got to be too much for her to fly through. She had to then walk on land. I hopped off her shoulders and hurried off after the sounds I heard from my pokemon and the cries for help from the strange pokemon I'd yet to meet. They were loud enough for me to hear now and I could hear a buzzing sound behind it. A bug pokemon perhaps?

"Rai!" I heard Amber shout and I came to a halt when I entered a small clearing in the center of the woods. My two small pokemon stood there looking at me before they looked over at the pokemon that had been calling for help. It was a large bug type, which I could tell from its condensed wings and bright green coloration. It was nearly as tall as Amethyst and had a raging ruby red colored eyes. Spikes accented the back of its head and its arms were actually scythes that looked pretty damn sharp…

"Scyther!" it cried out when it saw the rest of us. I could see its body literally shaking in fear and anger, but it held all it back as we approached.

"Scyther?" I questioned softly and pulled out my pokedex I'd slipped into my pocket and pointed it at the pokemon.

Scyther, the mantis pokemon. Its blindingly fast speed adds to the sharpness of its twin forearm scythes. The scythes can slice through thick logs in once wicked stroke. With its ninja-like agility and speed, it can crate the illusion that there is more then one of itself. It very rarely spreads its wings to fly, but can do so should it need to. Scyther nests are extremely rare and seen maybe once or twice a year in the Safari Zone forested area.

Wow, that's a pokemon… I looked back up at the pokemon as it calmly waited for us to get closer. It stood next to a large crack in the ground which I'm willing to bet led to the cave tunnels below.

"What's the problem?" I questioned worriedly to the scyther. It worriedly pointed down into the hole with its scythe forearm and I stepped out from around my pokemon to get a better look. I could hear my pokemon growling and I hushed them.

It was then that I heard a tiny squeak from down the hole as I approached it. When I looked the hole no bigger then myself, I could barely make out a small body down there that most likely belonged to some sort of baby pokemon. It apparently must have seen me because I heard it squeak again at the bottom of the hole. I couldn't make out what it was, but it reminded me slightly of an ekans with its shape, but from the way it sounded, it most certainly wasn't, it was also only half the size one too, if even.

"The poor little thing…" I quickly had to think of how to get down there and get it. Since its body was so small and snake shaped like, there was no way that if I put a rope down there I'd be able to grip it. The only option was-

"Amethyst! I need you and the scyther's help!" My fire dragon like pokemon came right over and the scyther waited at her side. I pulled out the rope and tied it around the scyther's waist before I handed a large amount of the rope to my charizard. She looked at me in question before her eyes went wide at the sight of me tying the rope around my waist.

"Rhuu!" she snapped.

"Amethyst, there's no other way to get that baby pokemon out other then me going down there." I walked up to her and rubbed her check. "Easy girl… I'll be just fine. There's a reason I'm having you on the other end of the line." She looked at me questioningly. "You have a lot of power in you girl, I want you on this end so if I need you to pull me up in a hurry, you can do that. The scyther's a back up incase your claws slip or something happens. It won't take me much more then a few minutes at most to get the baby pokemon and bring it back up here, okay?"

My pokemon sadly nodded and allowed me to approach the hole once I was securely tied to my rope. I lowered myself of the edge and then released the solid land above. I yelped at the sudden fall, but I felt Amethyst's grip on the other end of the rope, she held onto me tightly.

"Raichu?" Amber called down to me worriedly.

"Don't worry you guys! I was just startled." I called up. "Amethyst! Start lowering me down!" I heard my pokemon grunt before I felt her grip loose slightly on the rope and I felt myself descend into the dark underground cave.

It was very strange down here, almost like a hidden cavern that went throughout the entire park. I could see crystals and water flowing down here, its waves moving and reflecting light off the walls. It was quite beautiful… it definitely wasn't dark down there, though I can understand at the same time why this baby pokemon was so scared down here. The rocks were sharp no matter where I looked. Even with the walls nearly glowing in light, it was almost as if some of them were closing in on you, a trick of the illusion. I also saw no form of food down here, that little one was probably very hungry by now.

I finally touched the bottom after Amethyst took her time lowering me down there. When my toes touched, I scuffed my feet lightly over the surface to see how study and durable it was, and it wasn't much, to add insult to injury, the rock was slippery at the same time as unstable, this whole caver, as pretty as it was, could fall in on itself if something isn't done about it. I also had to be careful myself; one wrong move and I'll be dead.

Another high pitched squeak came from my right and I looked in that direction. Behind one of the larger rocks about twenty feet away from me I saw a bluish-purple tail shaking behind it. I slowly walked around the area and slipped over to the small pokemon that was curled into the small opening in the rocks.

"Come on little one, I'll take you back to the surface." I saw the pokemon's head gently creep around the rock and I nearly cooed at the way it looked. Large, beady black eyes nervously looked at me and a large white nose, nearly the size of my fist, was on the front of its head. A small bump of white was also on the top of its forehead and swirls that extended off its head in a frilly sort of way were on the sides of its head in the place of ears.

The tiny pokemon slowly crawled out from behind the rock and looked at me wearingly. Its body was really small now that I'd looked at it, not much longer then Chalcedony and Amber when she was a pikachu.

"Scyther!" the bug pokemon called from above. "Scyther scy!"

The baby pokemon cried out before it slowly made the short distance over to me. It nervously crawled into my awaiting arms and shivered as it tried to get closer to my skin and warmth. It was freezing; it must have been down here for way too long.

"Don't worry sweetie, we'll get you out." I whispered to the pokemon before I yanked on my rope. I then felt Amethyst lift us off the bottom of the rocks and toward the surface. With my waist tied with the rope, I used both my arms and hands to hold onto the pokemon and cover as much of its skin that I could to give it the warmth it needed.

I heard the pokemon in my arms nearly sigh as we approached the top and the sun finally hit its skin. It relaxed a bit more and finally fell asleep in my arms as we hit the surface and my pokemon swarmed me and the scyther hurried over to check on the little pokemon.

"Amethyst, you and the others get a fire going; this little one needs a lot of warmth, its freezing." My shiny charizard nodded quickly and she and the others set out quickly to work with finding wood to keep this little one alive.

HalloweenWitchHalloweenWitch

It took a short while for the four of them to quickly pull together enough wood and have Amethyst start a fire for the little shivering pokemon in my arms. In the time they'd done so, I'd researched the pokemon I held in my arms. Dratini, the dragon pokemon. Dratini continually molts and sloughs off its old skin due to steadily building life energy that can reach uncontrollable levels. By this shedding process, even the young can reach up to six and a half feet in length. It was long considered a mythical pokemon until recently, when a small colony was found living underwater. Dratini nests are few to none and tend to live near rivers and large bodies of water within the Safari Zone.

Since the fire had been built, the little dratini had considerably warmed up to me and my pokemon after he'd woken up and eaten. It seems he'd been down there for a day or so at least from the way he was when we pulled him out, and he was not very old either.

When I questioned the scyther as to how she knew the dratini, she replied that the two of them were good friends and that she looked after the little one after his mother had disappeared a few months back. While the dratini still needed a mother figure of some kind, the scyther acted like at least an over protective big sister to him. They hid out in the forest area here to hide from most of the trainers so they wouldn't be separated.

I felt so bad for the two of them. It must have been hard for a scyther, a bug and flying type pokemon to be looking after a dratini, a dragon type pokemon. I'd wanted to ask if they wanted to join my team and we could help them, but I was afraid to ask after how hostile the scyther had been when she was talking about the trainers that chased after the two of them, and that made her really livid.

The dratini had finally woken up again and started to cuddle in my arms. Chalcedony was kind enough to let him be in his normal spot since the dratini was only a baby and he needed some love and care. I grabbed some more of the bait in my bag and the berries the others had gathered for me and fed them to the little pokemon to give him as much energy as possible. The scyther had gone off to a few bushes within sight of the makeshift camp we made while she ate.

A rustling in the bushes to the left of us caught us off guard. The dratini squeaked and curled up into my body and shook in fear while the scyther came up next to me in a defensive pose and watched as a trainer walked out, he seemed to be in his twenties and quite haughty if I do say so myself from the large smirk on his face. He looked honestly like one of those nerd guys that captured rare pokemon, but were never very strong. He gasped when he looked up and saw the scyther before me and then the dratini in my arms. His smirk returned and he walked right over to us.

"So you managed to get the scyther and the baby dratini it cares for out in the open, huh?" He reached into his pack and pulled out some safari balls. "I'll take it from here."

"Take what?" I stood from my spot and carried the poor dratini in my arms with the scyther standing protectively before me. "Leave these two alone, they don't want anything to do with you, can't you see the fear evident in this poor little pokemon's eyes?"

"That doesn't matter, I called them since I first saw them get together, those pokemon are mine!" He threw a safari ball at the scyther; she quickly threw her arms, blades up, at them and sliced them right in two before they fell to pieces.

"You and what army?" I snapped back at the annoying man. "This poor dratini was near the brink of death down in that cave path below this area, and I didn't see you come running when he and the scyther cried out for help."

"Stay out of my way! I want those pokemon!" He threw more safari balls this time and the scyther began to destroy them one by one. One managed to slip by her however and time seemed to slow down as the ball was hurled at the dratini in my arms. The dratini shied back and curled into my arms for safety. I growled and my grip tightened around the pokemon I protected in my arms before my foot flew in the air and collided with the ball aimed toward the dratini. I redirected the ball trajectory with my foot and it flew into the tree above, smashing it to pieces once it hit a large tree branch. My foot hit the ground and I glared at the man with a fury I'd only reached a few times in my life.

"You can't have them!" I hissed angrily and time seemed to stand still as the man thought of his next move.

"Scyther scy." The scyther put its blade before me and turned to me. "Scyther scy scy scyther scy."

"What? What are you talking about?" I was brought out of my furious state with the scyther's words. "I'm not letting him capture you just to end this!"

"Scy…" She shook her head and pointed at me with her large scythe. "Scyther scy scyther scyther scy."

"You want…" I paused because I was so shocked, "me to capture you?"

The scyther nodded its head. "Scyther scy scyther. Scy scy scyther?"

"Of course I will! I'll take both of you." I reached into my own safari pack and pulled out two of the safari balls. I looked back at scyther with questioning eyes. "Are you sure you want to do this? I won't force you."

"Scyther scy!" She nodded and tapped the first safari ball with the dull end of her scythe and the ball opened quickly and turned her into a red transparent form of herself before she was pulled inside the pokeball. It closed with a quiet snap and shook a single time before the ball settled in the palm of my hand.

"NO!" The man screamed as he watched me attach the scyther's pokeball to my waist. "That was one of the only scythers in this entire region! How could you?" He then pulled out his own safari balls and rushed at me. "I won't let you take that dratini from me!"

"I won't let you take my dratini away from my scyther and me!" I screeched and my pokemon that were out at the moment bound forward to cut him off from reaching the little dratini and myself.

I suddenly felt the air still as a screech came from my arms and I looked down at the little dratini. Tears streamed down its vibrantly colored cheeks and before its large white nose and mouth came a large beam of dark purple, red and black energy that almost erupted when it fired off as a beam at the nerd across the field coming at us. He planted his feet in the ground to halt himself, but he was already taken up in the blast. He screamed and was thrown back and I was as well from the sheer power of the move. Amethyst caught me in her arms as I was pushed back and held onto us as the dratini's attack slowly died away.

"Whoa…" I gasped as I looked at the damage that the little dratini had caused due to its cry. I pulled out my pokedex and learned that the attack I'd just witnessed was called 'dragon rage'. Man, I think they forgot to mention that even the youngest of dragons were really bad ass to have on your team with a hell bent power like that! It really was impressive when I saw the extent of the damage. The blast had knocked out not only the guy that was trying to take my newest members of my team from me, but also the blast took out the thin cover to the underground caves below, making the hole that I'd pulled the dratini out of earlier a much larger one. Trees also had been blasted away to nothing in the blast's wake, so the area was left bare. It was quite a bit to take in.

"We'd best go and report this to the officers; I think I've got enough new pokemon to face the gym leader Koga." My pokemon nodded and I took out the other safari ball that was in my hands. My dratini sniffed at it before it put its nose up to it and was captured inside. Once his ball settled, I climbed onto Amethyst's back and Amber and Chalcedony jumped on with me and she flew us out of the forest, leaving the nerdy bastard behind where we'd left him.

After dealing with all the troubles with the authorities and what not, (including having the staff deal with that underground cave system as fast as possible) I left the Safari Zone and took everyone over to the pokemon center to get my two new pokmeon checked out, especially my little baby dratini to make sure he was okay, and to come up with names for the two of them.

When we arrived back at the pokemon center, I quickly handed everyone over to Nurse Joy to check them over and give any extra care needed to my dratini should he need it. She nodded and took off with them while I took a seat at the table before her counter.

It was only a short time before I heard the door open and a person walked in, the center had been pretty empty at the moment with all the trainers at the Safari Zone, so it'd been quiet. I looked up at the figure and gasped slightly in surprise. It was Alex who had a surprised look of his own when he saw me. He walked over and gripped lightly against the back side of the chair across from me.

"Can I sit?"

"You don't have to ask." He shorted lightly and sat down. His fingers laced with each other before him and he looked down at them nervously before he glanced up at me.

"Any luck in the Safari Zone?"

"Actually, yes. I was able to capture two new pokemon to add to my team. A really powerful scyther, a flying and bug type, and a baby dratini, a dragon type."

"You managed to get both of those two?" Alex seemed shocked with my feature. "I've heard about the two of them from some other people I talked to in the Safari Zone, those two were impossible to capture."

"Well… they were afraid. I guess they finally chose to come with me after I rescued the dratini from the bottom of the hidden cave below the forest area. The poor thing was shivering and starved when I'd found him, he had to of been down there for at least a day, and the scyther couldn't reach him since the gap down into there was so small, while the cave was structurally unsound, so she couldn't risk a cave in and cut the rocks to make a larger entrance."

"Ouch, sounds like a tough spot."

"It was, it was even worse when one of those jackass nerds showed up and tried to take them from me."

"Did Amethyst burn him alive? Or did Amber shock him? I'm willing to bet that it was Chalcedony that bit him first."

"All good guesses, but surprisingly, no." Alex raised his eye brow. "It was actually my little dratini who took him out with a crazy attack called 'dragon rage'. I was holding him at the time and that attack nearly blew me off my feet while Amethyst had to hold onto me and keep me from falling over and even she was pushed back slightly by that tiny pokemon's attack."

"Wow… you just topped my day by probably triple or more."

"What you do mean by that?" I tilted my head in confusion. "Didn't you have a good day?"

"Not what I'd hoped for anyway. I wasn't able to find any pokemon over at the Safari Zone that I wanted on my team, so I headed over to the gym and faced off against Koga. It was actually almost an easy battle for me since I had Kadabra, he had the type advantage against all of Koga's pokemon and at the end of the battle, he evolved. He's now an alakazam, and much more powerful then he's ever been."

"Well later on, I'll have to battle him and find out for myself how good he is."

"I bet you will." Alex turned his head to look behind me. "And here comes your pokemon." I turned in my chair and watched as Nurse Joy came toward me with my five pokeballs. All of them different in colors and designs. I took them all in hand and released them while Alex handed his over to be healed. Alex took in the sights of my newest pokemon and snorted with a grin.

"You always get the monster pokemon, don't you Vi?"

I shrugged. "I just have a knack at finding the pokemon who just fight like that or have crazy powers and what not. Now then…" I turned to my pokemon, lifting my dratini into my arms while Chalcedony took my lap and Amber sat on the table and Amethyst and the scyther stood off to the side. "It's time for names for you two."

"Scyther?" my new bug type pokemon questioned.

"Yeah, a name to call your own so I don't always just call you 'scyther'. Not that that's a bad thing!" I quickly added in before she got mad. "But I like nicknames, I almost think of it in the sense that if I was called by what I was, 'human', it feels pretty weird, so I think a name always works."

"Scy scyther scy?" my scyther asked curiously.

"I'm glad you asked, your name was actually the easier of the two to come up with. Your eyes were all I needed to come up with a name. When I first met you earlier today, when I looked in your eyes, my first thoughts were that they were like raging red rubies, so, with that in mind, I thought that 'Ruby' would be a good name for you, if you don't like it, I can think of another one."

"Scyther scy scy scythe." Ruby shook her head and gave me a smile, she liked her name well. "Scy scyther scythe?"

"Yes, I bet you wanna know his name too." My dratini looked up at me in my arms with its large beady eyes. "Yours was much harder to come up with since there isn't really a gem that's a purple-blue color like you are, so I had to go with one of the two colors and I think I found a good name."

"And it is?" Alex pressed on. The others almost leaded in as well to know.

"Zircon." I saw everyone nearly take a step back on that one before Ruby started to nod her own head at the name.

"Scyther… scy scythe." Ruby nodded to me, giving me her approval of the name.

Alex laughed softly. "As crazy a name as it sounds, it fits perfectly."

My dratini squealed and leapt up in my arms before it rubbed its soft white nose under my chin. I laughed at the feeling of it in that sensitive area, I always was ticklish there, and sadly the boys knew it.

"Still ticklish Vi? I should help him out and make you wither," Alex joked as he watched me.

"Then I'll tickle you where you're ticklish Alex." I fired back just as playfully. I knew his weakness in the tickle department too, his sides. But he hated it if you tickled him.

"You wouldn't dare." He suddenly stopped playing around as he was weary for his side's safety from my wrath. I laughed at his face as it scrunched up and what not.

"Try me; I have five pokemon on my side, all of which can kick your ass and hold you down, and willing do so to see you wither under the standards you set yourself at." I grinned evilly and Chalcedony also grinned, he loved anything that had to do with making Alex's life miserable. Amber and Amethyst just like to have fun, and I've yet to know how Ruby and Zircon would react to situations such as these.

"Alexander, your pokemon are healed." Nurse Joy suddenly interrupted our heated staring contest and placed his three pokeballs on the table. We both broke our gazes upon each other and looked at the woman for a mere moment before she smiled and turned on her heels back behind the counter.

"So, uh… what time are you leaving town?" I questioned him hesitantly; awkwardness came over the conversation after her interruption that removed all the tension, but also the humor and fun from it.

"Uh… I'm thinking about tomorrow, since its already afternoon here and I'm a bit tired." I nodded.

"That's good; I wanted to at least see you off. Where are you planning to head to?"

"I'm thinking the routes that we just came down, since the pathway is open now and it's been a couple days, they should be nearly littered with trainers while I make my way back up. After that, when I hit Lavender Town, I'll take a night to rest there before I surf around the Rock Tunnel on Blastoise and head up to route nine and ten for more training, and then I think I'll end it with a trip to that power plant, the abandon one. I think that should help me out plenty."

"I was thinking something along those lines too, but I'm planning on flying on Amethyst to get there. I'm going to check out that power plant and then the Seafoam Islands, I really can't get to that One Isle place, so that'll have to wait, but those two places should give me some good training, then I can travel almost anywhere now that the blockades are down, I might visit route six and the bicycle road. Between Fuchsia and Celadon."

"Good to hear Vi, though you better get over to Koga's gym soon, or you might run out of time or Vince'll beat you there for the last battle of the day."

"Holy crap! Your right, I better get!" I withdrew most of my pokemon and kept out Chalcedony who sat on my shoulder, Zircon who I held in my arms and Amber who planned to run beside me. "We'll see you later with our new badge Alex!" I hurried out of the building and rushed down to the guy before my brother could make any claim.

HalloweenWitchHalloweenWitch

It took me only a short while to make it to Koga's gym as the sun was just barely starting to go downward on the west side of the region. The door was still open when I arrived with no indication of a battle currently in progress, so I rushed inside. Once I made it there, I saw that there was a large battlefield with patches of purple liquid that glowed on the ground, like lit up water puddles, scattered all over the gym. It must have been to help his poison types.

Then, in the center of the field was a man who was dressed in black ninja clothing that snugly was wrapped around his body. A long, red, cape like scarf was wrapped a few times around his neck and then hung to the side and flowed with the wind. His face was hard even in his mediation. His spiked black hair covered his head while a single strand fell before his closed eyes.

"Hello?" I called out to the man, but it was as if he couldn't hear me or he ignored me. "Hello?"

"Oh, you must be here for a challenge." I turned my head to look off to the side and I saw a young girl about my age walk out next to me. Like the man in the center of the battlefield, she was dressed like a ninja in black, but she had a dark magenta-purple scarf rather then a red one like the man out there. Her hair was a mid tone purple color that was pulled back into a spiky tail on the back of her head. Her eyes were a pale onyx in color and she greeted me with a warm smile. "Sorry about my dad, he tends to get really lost in his meditation and doesn't like to be disturbed unless you're a really powerful battler." She held out her hand for me to shake. "I'm Janine Noxious, Koga's daughter and I'm training to take over the gym one day for my dad."

I held onto Zircon in my right arm while I reached my left one forward to shake her hand. "I'm Violet Vilmos; I'm aiming to be the champion."

Janine's eyes widened before me. "You're Violet Vilmos? Wow, this is an honor to meet you! I've seen all the news reports about you over at the pokemon center with my dad; you've done quite a bit to help others out there."

I shrugged and grinned at the girl. "I try. I also wanna battle your dad so I can get my fifth badge."

"I see, well, you'll have to break him out of his meditation first, and that's not an easy feature." Janine walked over toward him, thought stopped only after walking a few feet. She pressed her hand up against something that was invisible to the naked eye and she rapped her knuckles on it. I saw her father flinch slightly, but didn't move. "You see, there's an invisible wall that prevents my Dad from hearing you that circles all the way around him. If you want him to hear you, you'll have to break the wall, which isn't an easy feature, or you can wait until he comes out of his meditation."

"Well… I'm not too keen on waiting, so lets bust open that wall." I looked down to my newest pokemon on my team. "You think you can blast that sucker down Zircon?"

My little dratini squealed and Amber and Chalcedony braced my legs to keep me from falling back. Janine seemed to think something big might happen and stepped over to the side. I was glad she had at the time. I held onto Zircon with both of my arms and waited until he felt comfortable. "Dragon rage, Zircon!" The same large blast came from my little dratini's mouth as it had before of black, red and purple in color and nearly blew me back if it wasn't for my pokemon at my feet holding me up. The blast hit the invisible wall and cracked it upon impact, and with more stress to it, shattered the entire thing and its pieces fell to the ground with the blast ready to hit Koga. The ninja man in the center of the room, however, sunk from his meditation position and laid out flat on the floor while he waited for the blast to pass, which hit the opposite side of the gym and nearly blew a support beam.

The blast soon stopped when my little dratini couldn't use the attack anymore and need some rest. Koga got up from his spot and gently brushed off the glass on him before he looked over at us. His daughter bowed to him and him back to her before he bowed also to me.

"Sorry about wreaking your invisible wall, but I had no other choice if I wanted to battle you or wait until tomorrow, and I'm sadly not a patient person." I grinned at him. "May I have a battle with you Koga?"

"Quite impressive for you to knock down the wall," he commented with a finger to his chin. "Never has that been done before, so you must be a powerful trainer. Yes, I shall battle you; may I know your name child?"

"Her name is Violet Vilmos. Dad, she's the one that's been taking out Team Rocket since her journey began!" Janine exclaimed as she hurried over to him, jumping over the sharp edges of the remaining wall closer to the floor she could somehow see. "She's the one that found their base in Celadon and saved the Pokѐmon Tower in Lavender Town. Remember? We saw her on the news over the past few months."

"I remember it well Janine. Quite impressive." He nodded to his daughter before he turned back to me and his onyx eyes were much harder then his daughter's but seemed to hold the same coloration. "Are you prepared for battle Violet?"

"I wouldn't be here if I wasn't." I grinned and pulled out one of my pokeballs from my belt and enlarged it. It was my other safari ball that was held within my hand, I was ready to test my newest pokemon out. I jumped over the invisible wall and landed inside the battle field. "Let's go Ruby!"

I tossed the ball up into the air and from its white light that emerged when the pokeball opened came my flying bug pokemon. Her raging ruby eyes looked around at the field before her and she nodded before focusing her gaze on the man before her. She raised her scythe like arms before her and sharpened them on each other, making that metal on metal sound, almost like drawing a sword from its sheath.

"I'm glad to see that those criminals haven't wounded any sense of humor you have." Koga said with a grin. "But I will not let you achievements sway me nor prevent me from battling at my peak. They are worthless unless you can prove they are the truth!" He reached for his own pokeball and tossed it into the air. From the pokeball came an arbok that slithered around silently on the ground, casually moving about through the poison areas on the battle field. It hissed at my scyther and Ruby was quick to growl back.

Janine finally noticed she was in the middle of our battle field and moved off to the side, deciding to play referee for it. "Violet and Koga, you may begin!"

"Alright Ruby, lets start this off with quick attack!" My scyther nodded to me and dug her toes into the ground while her wings buzzed and the sound echoed across the room. In the next instant, she appeared with her body crashing into the side of the arbok. The snake like pokemon cried out in pain before it fell into the tiny pool of poison. I hissed in pain and slowly used its muscles to get back up. The very poison that was to help it was rolling down in rivers on its body while a large bruise was on its chest from where Ruby hit it.

"Its good to see you don't hold anything back, and neither shall we!" Koga yelled and pointed out at my pokemon. "Arbok, use toxic!" A putrid fume filled the air and soon enough, we could see it as well. It was a hazy dark purple that filled the battle field as the arbok spat something at my pokemon. Ruby was too fast for it though and simply moved out of the way, but when we turned to look at what the damage could do, I saw it formed one of those poison like puddles we've been seeing everywhere, which has been coming from this guy's attacks! Toxic! I gasped and looked back at my pokemon, she still seemed calm and upon seeing her face, I placed the worries of a poison behind me for now.

"Don't let that stop you Ruby! Use double team and then sword dance!" My scyther jumped before the poison pokemon and crossed her blades before her. A faint static-like outline came over her body before more images of her appeared all over the battle field, surrounding the arbok in a circle. The snake pokemon hissed and shot another toxic ball at her, but it hit one of the copies and missed. The copy didn't fade away as it was hit; it merely stood there and waited, as all the others did. White energy then focused in the center of the blades of my pokemon before Ruby sliced away at the air before her and you could hear the sound as she cut through the air, nearly sending chills up my spine.

"You tricks won't stop us Violet! Arbok, use poison sting on all of the scyther!" The arbok nodded unlocked its large jaw to fire many rounds of the tiny, white, poisoned needles that flew at the copies of my bug pokemon and flew right through all of them. Koga stood shocked and looked in awe that he couldn't hit the real one.

"There not tricks Koga, their abilities and skills." My hand gripped the side of my hip and ginned madly as I looked at his pokemon, pointing at it. "Finish it Ruby, fury cutter!"

A bright light soon appeared about us and Koga and his arbok and daughter dared to look up above. My scyther's scythes were glowing white as she used her ninja like speed to race down from her hiding spot in the air above and she threw her arms at the arbok, parallel to one another and easily sent the pokemon flying backward into the wall. The marks from my scyther's blades were indented in its skin, but it had yet to break it yet, so all was good. The snake pokemon had collapsed with large 'x's over its eyes and Janine raised her arm on my side of the field.

"Arbok is unable to battle! Ruby is the winner!" She called out with a smile hidden behind the serious look on her face.

"You're doing great Ruby! Just hang in there!" My pokemon nodded without turning her head on the battlefield and we prepared for the next battle that Koga would throw at us.

"Hn, you are quite good, and this is one of your newest pokemon… it almost makes me nervous for your pokemon that have been on your team longer." Koga commented.

"As I've told my brother, I just have a knack at finding the pokemon who just fight like that or have crazy powers and what not. Now send out your next pokemon!" My scyther and I were ready for the next battle and I almost felt like Koga was either being a little more social then normal or he was stalling, my vote was not on the latter of the two.

He sighed. "My apologies then, I've been very antisocial lately, I guess unconsciously I'm trying to make up for it. Let us continue, go Muk!" As Koga returned his arbok, Koga then sent out a new pokemon that was also a gray purple in color that literally looked like a pile of sludge with eyes and a mouth on it with hands formed out of the grime. The stench of it was so putrid I felt my stomach lurch at it and I had to cover my nose. Ruby seemed a bit unaffected by the smell; then again, she's probably smelled it many times in her life since she's lived near the city.

"Pleh!" I coughed out when I tried to give a command to my scyther, but I just couldn't find my breath to be able to do that. No matter how I brought in the air, it was a think and heavy atmosphere that I had to take in and somehow breathe in and communicate with to my scyther.

"Are you alright Violet?" Janine called over to me from the referee's stand.

"Ye-cough-yeah." I shook my and tried to wipe away the tears from my eyes as my lungs hacked up at the horrid air. "I'm-cough-fine. Just… give me a-cough-moment."

I eventually was able to get myself past the smell and glared back at Koga, this must be part of his strategy to take out his opponents, using his muk to knock out their sense of smell, and by doing that, it causes their brain to freeze up since their focused on that. You can't really call it a cheep trick since it probably affects him too, but not as much since he's used to it after who knows how many years.

"Are you ready yet Violet?" Koga asked impatiently. "Is this really the extent of your own strength?"

"Hell no!" I wildly screeched at him. "Don't you dare judge me because it's taking me a moment to adjust! You probably were no different when you first met your muk!"

"Then battle me already." I growled and felt my body begin to rage. My pokemon in my arms and by my feet were concerned for my anger and tried to calm me down, but it was no use. Man did I want to barbeque him so badly

"Scyther scy!" I shook my head and looked at my pokemon on the field. Her raging eyes were glaring at me. "Scy scy scyther scy!"

She was right, I had to get my act together! I nodded my head to my pokemon and knocked some sense in my head. If I focused too much on trying to kill him, I was falling right for his trap. He wanted me mad, I had to keep calm. I took a deep breath and focused in on the battle before me. Ruby was waiting on my orders and Koga looked to be getting impatient.

"I tire of waiting Violet, Muk, use sludge bomb!" The creature made of grim on the ground opened its mouth wide and from it came a large array of toxic look-alike balls in the air, flying right toward our side of the field.

"Fly out of the way Ruby!" My scyther leapt into the air and put its wings to work and its agility speed as well to avoid the splotches that sped toward her. On the ground my pokemon protected me from the attacks and smoke erupted as the ground melted away under the poison's might.

The battle field was trashed and eaten away at, but neither of us gave way to that and let the battle continue on as my scyther, without my command, leapt forward at the muk, throwing her blades at it normal in a slash attack. The muk dealt with the blows and they didn't do much of any damage to it since all that Ruby was cutting through was the sludge itself. The muk in response tried to crush my pokemon under its large sludgy hand, but my scyther was too quick. However, she couldn't face off against this pokemon with its body structure as it was, or at least not with the attacks she knows presently.

"Ruby! Come back!" My scyther gave me a death glare as she looked at me on the field. The muk allowed her to come back over to me while she looked extremely pissed. "Don't be mad girl, I just want you to sit the rest of this battle out since you can't really cut through sludge and beat it. Do you understand?" Though grumbling, my scyther nodded her head and flew behind me. "I promise girl, it's only this battle. Don't worry; well find an attack or two that can handle this in the future, but right now…" I pulled Amethyst's pokeball from my belt. "Amethyst will burn it to a crisp. Go wild girl!" I threw out her pokeball and from the light came my strongest and most familiar pokemon came forth. Amethyst grinned as she saw her opponent blew a light puff of fire and smoke from her mouth. The muk slightly backed away in fear of my fire type, but didn't let it really throw it off.

I grinned at the other side of the field. Koga wouldn't know what hit him. "Rage girl!" My pokemon's eyes widened and her posture stiffened. I watched the same dark black aura as before overtake my pokemon and I felt my own anger from my pervious rage from Koga seep into my pokemon. She was nearly feeding off it and it was powering her up, even more then before or then she would have on her own.

"Wha-what magic is this?" Koga yelled angrily at us.

"No magic Koga, Amethyst is simply taking in my anger to fuel her own. Say good-bye to your muk." I turned away from him and looked over at my fire pokemon. "Flamethrower Amethyst!" My pokemon responded quickly and easily to the command as a fire burst from her mouth that I'm sure was more blue then red. The muk tried to save itself from the hit with its arms but the blast was too strong. Smoke was everywhere and the alarm came on and sprinklers began to soak the place down. I heard my pokemon cry out, I knew she hated the water, and this sprinkler on the ceiling wasn't helping her. I just had to see the muk was out before I could return her and get her out of this mess…

The smoke began to clear bit by bit and soon enough I saw the remains of the battle field. Amethyst's fire had literarily caused the entire field to be scorched black and the poison to be all dried up which left only holes in the walls now. My fire pokemon breathed heavily from her powerful attack, but she herself was fine. The muk on the other hand was nearly a black crisp of its former self and nearly half its supposed size as well.

Koga and Janine's jaws both dropped at the site of the pokemon's injuries, but then Janine pulled herself together when she realized she was still referee. "Muk is unable to battle; Amethyst and Ruby are the winners!"

"Good job girl!" My shiny charizard gave me a thumbs up and grinned at me. "Okay, now come back so Ruby can finish this up. She's itching to battle!" My fire pokemon nodded and walked back over to us as she and Ruby crossed paths. Amethyst placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder and Ruby simply nodded. It was at least good to see they were getting along well together. "Now let's finish this up Ruby, just like I promised, and let's get our fifth badge!"

"Not without a fight you won't! I'll fight with every last breath in my body!" Koga snapped. "Let's see how you handle my last pokemon, go Weezing!" With the smell of burnt… everything in the air, it was easy not to smell this pokemon right off, but I was willing to bet that it didn't smell nice since it was the evolved form of koffing. It still held the trademark purple color and toxic mark on it, but off to its side was another head that seemed to grow on the side of it while it grew slightly larger when it evolved. This pokemon couldn't have looked anymore relaxed at the time-

"Weezing use smog!" Koga called out and the weezing let out a putrid smell that filled the entire air with a black-green colored air substance. I lifted the end of my shirt to breathe through and my pokemon gathered around me to use my clothing to help them breathe. Ruby used her wings to fly above the smog and looked around for the weezing.

"Now tackle!" I hadn't heard that attack since the beginning of my journey. I watched the weezing escape it's save haven and rushed its body at Ruby. She easily dodged the move and allowed the pokemon to hurl itself into the wall.

I quickly pulled out my pokedex to see the moves that I'd yet to use with Ruby. As I scrolled down with them however, I saw a new move I hadn't seen before. One that looked very promising… and maybe could have taken out that muk earlier.

"Alright Ruby, fall back a bit, I wanna try out another move!" My pokemon nodded and quickly appeared back before me. The weezing pulled its face from the wall and easily slid back into the smog that was on its side of the field.

"Trying out a few new moves in a gym battle?" Koga questioned me harshly. "That makes my job easier."

"Wrong, it makes your job obsolete!" I turned to my pokemon. "Alright Ruby! Silver wind!"

My pokemon cried out on the battle field as she rapidly flapped her wings while they turned silvery in coloration and flecks of the coloring came off in a fine powdery move. Powerful winds filled with the silvery powder raced around the building and broke all the windows under pressure before more of the building started to give way. Holes in the ceiling emerged and Amethyst raced to cover all of us with her body and protect us. Ruby was protected by the constant use of her attack and I didn't see anything from Koga's side since I was covered by Amethyst.

It was a few moments after that dramatic move that I felt Amethyst move over us. She shifted her wings under the bits of debris that were dropped on us and she easily shoved them off. She released all of us and my smaller pokemon cried out for the light that suddenly came in. I rubbed my eyes from the dust that was still in the air and when they were open, I looked out onto the battle field to find Ruby and the weezing.

It was easy to spot them. They both were hovering close to the ground, Ruby's feet only an inch or so from touching it. She was quite tuckered out for the sheer power of that move that she called upon and I sighed.

"We'll have to work on that in the future." I mumbled under my breath and watched as Koga's weezing had a hard time staying afloat. It was low on energy and wasn't going to last another hit.

Koga sighed. "I sadly cannot do a thing against you Violet. You are too powerful for my team and myself. I will have to train harder if I wish to beat you."

"Does that mean your calling the battle and giving me my badge?"

"That depends entirely on my next and last moves." Koga looked worriedly over at his pokemon. "If you scyther can survive my most powerful attack, then you will receive my badge, if not, I will not give you my badge, even if you still are the victorious one."

"I don't really like where this is going…"

Koga smirked and chuckled on his side of the field. "Good, now let's see your pokemon handle this attack! Weezing! Use selfdestruct!"

My eyes widened as I and all my pokemon yelled for Ruby to hide or defend herself from the attack. The weezing's body glowed a white color before it entirely ruptured and everything was lost in smoke once more. I coughed as I smelt the fumes from the weezing and I desperately looked out for my pokemon. I held my breath as Amethyst flapped a small breeze with her wings to remove the smoke, or at least push it at Koga. Out on the field, the weezing first came into the picture, its body was covered in ashes and 'x's were over its eyes. Koga returned his pokemon, congratulating it on a job well done, and then also waited to see my scyther.

I finally got a glimpse of my scyther when I saw part of her wings, and her was on the ground. I gasped and had Amethyst flap her wings in that direction. More of my scyther was finally reviled and I saw that she indeed was on the ground, but she wasn't out. Her wings were covered in ash as well as some parts of her body. Her legs were spread out under her in different direction and her scythe like arms were holding her up as she was sitting on the ground. Her body was heavily damaged, but she was still there, and still very well ready to fight with her last breath in her body.

"Weezing is unable to battle!" Janine cried out in the tense atmosphere. "The winner is Ruby and with all Koga's pokemon defeated, the winner of this match is Violet!"

The silence finally ended and my team and I raced forward to help out Ruby in anyway we could. Amethyst helped her mostly by placing her on her back and my team started spraying her over with some of the potions I actually had in my bag and berries we had on us. While the others took care of her, Koga walked over to me with Janine at his side.

"That battle was well fought." Koga said before he rubbed the back of his head. "I hope you can forgive me for, as you say, 'push your buttons'?"

"Yeah, I can forgive you, if I get my badge." The man simply shook his head and his daughter and I laughed while he reached into his pocket and pulled out the small item I desired. It was shaped like a heart shaped petal from a flower. It was a vibrant fuchsia pink and I pulled out my badge case and put it inside before I showed my team and we cheered for our new badge, and the first one for my newest pokemon, the soul badge.

"Thanks for the badge Koga! And the battle!" I waved to him as I gathered my pokemon and prepared to leave. "See ya lat-"

"VIOLET!" I turned my head suddenly at the call of my name and watched as my brother and Alex rushed into the building and fell to the ground in exhaustion.

"Guys?" I blinked a few times at them. "What are you doing-"

"No time!" My brother gasped out. He looked up at me in fear. "Vi, they've taken over!"

"Vince, you're not making any sense-"

"Violet!" Alex demanded my attention in his voice. "Team Rocket took over the Silph Co. building as well as the entire city of Saffron."

"Oh my Mew!" I gasped and looked worriedly over at my pokemon. "Change of plans guys, we gotta get over to Saffron, now!"

With Ruby now mostly healed, most of my pokemon climbed onto her back as she rose herself into the air. I jumped up onto Amethyst's back and the boys quickly jumped up after me and held on as we prepared to leave. I glanced down at Koga and Janine quickly in the corner of my eye before I yelled out and Amethyst took off out of the hole in the ceiling like a bullet with Ruby right on her tail.

Hang on Saffron City, we're coming!
