Pokѐmon Journey I: Violet's Trial

Chapter 18: Creature of the Seafoam Islands

Violet's Point of View:

It's been a couple weeks since our arrival at the abandoned power plant and our staying with Zapdos and his kid. Our training had really improved with facing a powerful opponent like Zapdos nearly every day for the past couple weeks, and even the youngling and Zircon got some training by facing each other. The father and son zapdos' were truly kind in letting us stay with them and with our training. Chalcedony doesn't even seem bothered by the defeat to Sabrina's Mr. Mime anymore and Amethyst recovered well from her tired phase from that strange attack that we still have no data on.

I had recovered as well from my wounds; a large scab was over the top of my hand that had been sliced off with the cast when Ruby tried to keep me away from Amethyst when Zapdos was still pissed at us. But now everything had been set strait and there had been no news of any Team Rocket activity in the region while we were training, and that's what I was hoping for.

Zapdos had already sent word ahead to the two other locations where he knew where his close friends Articuno and Moltres were so that we wouldn't receive the same sort of greeting we did with Zapdos. Apparently my hunch was right about where they lived since Articuno and Moltres lived in the Seafoam Islands and Mt. Ember on Isle One. Magnimite were sent to each location to tell them of our journey and mission and to make sure we get off on the right food.

It was our time to leave the power plant after so much time however. I needed to find another location to train, and that was with the legendary bird of ice, Articuno. Zapdos warned his friend of our arrival and to be kind since we are not enemies.

The pokemon here at the power plant had become quiet attached to us during the couple weeks we were here, we battled with them and talked with them at every moment we had and that they wanted. They'd got stronger for the better and were ready to keep their friends and family safe. I was glad to see them grow while we were here, but sad to leave.

It was the hardest on Amber, she somehow found herself very attached to the pikachu here at the power plant, she treated them like sisters and brothers, but she was also ready to leave, she still had a mother to find and bring home.

Our preparations were made, we had planed to stop over at Bill's first for lunch and to explain some things to him about the zapdos' and to see Lovey and Black Spinal and see how things were working out for them. When I'd last talked to Bill when I'd stopped over at the pokemon center for a quick heal up and lunch during my training, he'd told me that he had a surprise for me. It made me nervous to here those words, but it couldn't be all that bad, plus I had to apologize to him for the way I acted back when I was still in Saffron a couple weeks ago.

"Are we ready to go guys? Bill, Lovey and Spinal's expecting us soon!" I called out to my pokemon as we said our last few good-byes to the pokemon of the power plant. The little baby zapdos was the hardest to say good-bye to since he was such a little sweetie. He flew around my pokemon and cried as they said their good-byes.

I felt a single tear fall from my eye and I turned to look back to the adult zapdos that looked at me with sad eyes. I think I was one of the first friends and allies he'd met in a long time, and I was more protection for his kid that he was loosing.

"I hope I'll meet you again soon Zapdos, it was fun and great to stay with you here." I told the large black and yellow bird. "If I ever repair my relationship with my family, I might be able to work something out with your kid staying there so you don't have to worry about him as much as you had before."

The zapdos was weary of my answer, but still nodded to my kindly and held out its wing for me to shake the end feathers of as if it was a hand. I took hold of the furthest out feathers and shook them with a grin.

"Well, we better get going. I know Lovey and Spinal are waiting on us." I grabbed onto the back of Amethyst's horns and hopped up onto her shoulders while the others either got up on Amethyst with me or got up on Ruby. I looked back to all the pokemon that we were leaving behind and I waved to them happily as I tapped Amethyst's wing and she leapt off into the sky. I held onto Zircon as we flew with Amethyst and Chalcedony and Amber flew with Ruby back up to the Cerulean Cape where our family and friends were waiting for us.

It took us only a few minutes to reach our location since we were only a short distance away from his home by the edge of route nine and ten. So overall, we were there and could have gone back if we really wanted to (and most likely one day we will.)

I saw Bill's house come into view shortly after we climbed over the rough mountain tops that hid from view and made route nine and ten so tricky to get around at times. I saw Black Spinal sitting out in the sun, enjoying the warmth it was giving him as he snoozed there. He looked much better then the last time I'd seen him right before my battle with Sabrina. He looked like he's had a few decent meals and he's filled out and looked stronger.

Amber and Chalcedony called out to him from atop of Ruby and he cracked open an eye to look. He blinked his eyes a few times before he jumped to his feet and cried out in joy, bucking up on his back feet. His tiny rock tail wagged and he soon called out to the house behind him that we were here. Amethyst dived and landed quickly and easily on the ground with no discomfort to myself and Zircon. Ruby soon followed after and Black Spinal ran up to us and nuzzled his face in my abdomen.

"Hey Spinal, we missed you buddy." I rubbed my hand under his chin and over his forehead. "You've been good while we've been gone right?"

He nodded his head happily and grinned at me. He roared softly at me before he started tugging on my clothes and getting behind me to push me toward the house. I laughed as he continued to do so before he used his outstretched face and threw me onto his back and took me toward the house. The rest of my active team hurried after me into Bill's home that was left wide open for Black Spinal.

Once we entered the inside of the house, the brilliant smell of burgers and hotdogs filled the air and I realized how hungry I was for a real meal of food compared to the berries that were forced to eat only at the power plant, since that was the only food supply there.

"Ah! Violet! It's good to see you." I was surprised to see that Bill was dressed in only a pair of jeans and a sleeveless shirt and sandals compared to his normal business get up of dress shirt, dress pants and dress shoes. I looked at him in question and his attitude changed quickly. "Something wrong?"

"I'm surprised you dressed up for the occasion, what exactly are we celebrating?" I snickered. He looked himself over and snorted a laugh.

"Its dress down Friday." He joked as he took a few plates in hand to take them out to the back deck. "I'm cooking the food right now, so you just enjoy yourselves and go see Lovey, she should be up on the second floor in the room she and Black Spinal stay in. She's got a surprise for you."

"I was wondering when I'd see the surprise you guys had for me." I had Black Spinal put me down and I started to head for the stairs. "I hope she's healed a lot more."

"Even more then you probably are thinking about Vi." Bill noted.

"Oh wait!" He blinked at me as I lowered my head and played with my hands. "I'm sorry."

"For what?"

"For the way I treated you before I had my gym battle with Sabrina a couple weeks ago. I was out of line." I sighed. "I'm sorry."

"Don't worry about it Violet, I was out of line myself." Bill set down the plate with cheese and bread on it to put a hand on my shoulder. "I should be the one apologizing for starting the whole thing."

"I still feel bad about it though, I shouldn't have blow up like that."
"Actually, you should have." I blinked and raised my head at Bill. "I openly admit that I was unconsciously mocking your ways of training of your pokemon while I was trying to be concerning. I shouldn't have said a thing and we would have avoided the problem entirely."

"Let's just agree to disagree." I sighed. "We're both sorry and leave it like that."

"That I can work with." Bill grabbed his plate again and started to head out back. "Oh and by the way, Lovey's not the only one who has a surprise for you."

"Oh really? And who else should I be worried about?"

"But that would ruin the surprise." Bill pretended to care deeply over the subject and faint, safely placing the plate of food down first and falling into Amethyst's arms. My pokemon laughed at him and left him up to his own devices and I followed them up the stairs with Amethyst trailing behind last after setting Bill on his feet.

On the second floor there were only a few rooms. A bathroom was left wide open while another bedroom was open with many papers and things inside, which I assumed to be Bill's room. There was another door at the end of the hallway where I saw the shadow of large wings against the wall. I blinked my eyes and noticed how considerably larger they were then my Lovey's.

I peaked inside the room and noticed that it was pretty much as ordinary as a room could be, there was a bed and a large fluffy floor bed which I bet was for Black Spinal. I saw many places where Lovey could perch and land on along with the soft carpeted floor.

I looked around and saw the shadow on the side of the room again, but there was no body around that the shadow could belong to, or one that I could notice. I felt something tap my side and I looked down at Black Spinal who pointed his tipped nose up at the ceiling and my eyes trailed after it. Up on the ceiling boards was a large bat like pokemon that I'd encounter on a few times. It was the evolved for a zubat, called a golbat. It was much larger in size then the zubat but still came with the same coloration. It had a large mouth for catching its prey and longer fangs as well. Its wing span was at least four to five feet long and it was nearly five times the size of a zubat.

"Lovey?" I questioned the pokemon above. "Is that you?" The pokemon looked at me and blinked a few times before it spread its wings that were wrapped around its body and it opened them up to revile there were no bandages on its body at all. It grinned happily at me and dived down from the ceiling before it latched onto my outstretched arm and hung there.

"Golbat gol gol!" It swung gently from my arm and I smiled bright at it when I realized it was my Lovey.

"Lovey! Oh you look so good girl! When did you evolve? Are you all healed now?"

"Golbat!" She swung out her wings and flew around me so that she was on top of my arm rather then hanging below it. I used the side of my finger to scratch right under her chin and she really liked that.

"Violet!" I heard Bill call. "Lunch is on!"

"Come on everyone lets go get some grub!" When I turned to look, everyone was already gone save for Lovey on my arm. I sighed and looked at my newly evolved pokemon. "I guess they beat me to the punch." Lovey snickered at that and jumped off my arm into flight and flew out the open window. "Hey! No fair!"

I rushed down the stairs after her and the others who were already outside eating away. I rolled my eyes and reached for the door handle when I heard growling behind me. I turned and saw Chalcedony growling at an area of Bill's house that was quite dark and I couldn't see in there very well, but whatever was there, Chalcedony didn't like it and continuously growled at it.

"Chalcedony? What's wrong?" I walked over next to him and I saw him jump before me and continue to growl at the corner. Whatever was there, he didn't want me near it. "Chalcedony, what's in the corner? Is it an enemy?"

"Ee…" He growled his answer but still didn't let down his guard.

"Well if it's not an enemy then what is it?" I questioned harshly. "You never act like this unless there is an enemy or if you're around…" I blinked as I thought and realized what could be there. "Alex…?"

I heard a heavy footstep and watched as the dark corner took a form as a body walked forward. Black, purple, pale and ginger-bronze were seen first before the colors took shape and a male body around my age stepped out of the shadows. An annoying grin was plastered on his face, or so I thought, but it was only my memory playing tricks on me since I imagined him as we were before our journey began. It was actually a nervous smile that graced me and a hand behind the person's head.

"Hey Vi, long time no see." He replied.

"Alex…" To see him here was quite the shock for myself. I figured that he'd been still training on route twelve at the time and wouldn't be here for another day or so. I even surprised myself when I ran up and hugged him. Both my arms wrapped around his neck and my face cuddled into the warmth of his neck. I felt my heard beating faster then normal and for some reason, it made me hold him tighter.

It took a lot of my will power to break my hold on him, but after a moment I was able to do so while looking at a surprised Alex when I was done, and a peeved Chalcedony that barked and growled at Alex. I blinked a few times in surprise as I watched my pokemon lash out like a wild animal at Alex and tried to step between us.

"Chalcedony! Stop that!" At first I didn't mind when Chalcedony kept Alex off my back or would play rough with him just to put Alex in his place, but this time… this time it was if Chalcedony was out for blood, and damn sure to keep me away from my best friend.

"It's alright Vi, he hasn't had a chance to take a bite of me yet. Once he gets that taken care of-AH!" Faster then a bullet, Chalcedony had leapt up and latched onto Alex's arm with all his teeth out and sharper then normal from his anger. I saw damn well that Chalcedony was aiming for a more powerful hit then normal and his teeth easily went through Alex's skin.

"Chalcedony stop it!" I screamed at my normal type, terrified at the moment of what would cause him to go to such lengths. "AMETHYST!"

A loud, ear piercing roar hit the air like a mallet to a drum and Chalcedony froze in fear as Amethyst burst into the house and locked her jaw around his body. Chalcedony released Alex in the next moment, out of fear, and Amethyst took him out side, roughly throwing him out there with the others. My fire type pokemon looked back to me in a rush of worry. I was frozen in terror, of fear that my pokemon openly attacked one of my closest friends that meant so much to me. I didn't understand, I was confused, I couldn't move from my spot.

"Vi?" I slowly turned while my entire body shook and looked up at Alex. "Easy Vi, take a seat." I easily compiled to his words and allowed him to situate me on the couch. Alex looked back up at my worried fire type. "Hey Amethyst, can you do me a favor and make sure no one fights out there? I think Violet could do for some time without it."

My fire type easily nodded to him and went out the back door while my eyes were glued to my hands. They were shaking, I was scared, I was scared of my own pokemon, my little brother, my family member that I cared about so much… yet he attacked one of my closest friends as if he was fighting a 'kill or be killed' battle.

"Breathe Vi," Alex said soothingly to me.

"I'm trying; it's not easy after what just happened." I let out a shaky breath and tried to control my breathing after the even that just took place.

"I don't know what's wrong with Chalcedony, but he looked like he was protecting you from me," Alex commented quietly.

"Protecting me from you?" I snapped, finally over my fear, but most certainly not over my anger. "What the hell does he need to protect me from you?"

He shrugged and tried to calm me down. "I don't know Vi." His voice was extremely soft while he put his arm around my shoulders and pulled me into his side. I willingly let him after all that had happened this afternoon. "I really don't know." I felt his hand squeeze my shoulder and I relaxed into his side. "You know… this wasn't how this afternoon was supposed to play out."

"I bet." I replied dryly. "What did you have in mind instead?"

"I thought I'd surprise you with a nice lunch together with all our pokemon and Bill and for you to see not only Lovey and Black Spinal, but also me too… even though you probably didn't want to see me."

I blinked surprised like and looked up at him before my eyes went a blaze. "What the hell are you talking about? Don't spit that tauros shit at me!" He blinked wildly at my reply and I sighed and tried to calm down my erratic heart beat. "I'm always happy to see you, sure you can be a jerk some times, but you also know when to put aside your act and be nice and kind and sincere. You may be a pain in the ass at times, but your still one of my best friends and I'm always happy to see you. Even my brother, when he isn't annoying that is."

Alex laughed at that softly and reached for the first aid kid on the side. "Okay, now that you're calmed down a bit, you wanna help me with my arm?"

I sighed but nodded to him none the less. "Sure, but you have to tell me what you've been up to and if you've heard anything from my brother."

"Fine, but they're probably not going to be as interesting stories as yours are." He replied quickly and held out his arm for me. I applied the medicine to clean the bite marks and he hiss through it before we began our story telling to one another.

HalloweenWitchHalloweenWitch

It hadn't taken very long to bandage up Alex's arm, nor for him to tell me of his adventures through the routes and his win at Sabrina's gym. He'd told me it was hard battle, but from the gleam in his eyes, he enjoyed every second of it. He'd heard from my brother a short while ago and he was training back around the coast of Fuchsia since there were many water type trainers there and a few hikers who he could battle and train his pokemon. He also was told that Vince had gotten both his fifth and sixth badges, I was glad for it. I knew it was bothering him when we last left him back in Saffron that he only had four compared to our five and I was going for my sixth.

I then told Alex about my adventure and training with Zapdos, he was too surprised by what happened and immediately freaked out and questioned me to see if I was alright. I showed him the bandage on my arm and told him of our battle with the father and how Ruby cut me as I tried to pull away from her when Amethyst planned to sacrifice herself so I could get away.

"So you're alright now, right?" He questioned me.

"Oh yeah, it's just a large scab now. And the break is now only a sprain, I only need to keep it wrapped up and protected for another week or two, but at least I don't have to worry about a cast."

"I'm glad, so Zapdos is expecting me next?"

"He should be, and if Vince decides to show up he knows what he looks like and the two of you won't get the same reception that I got, he's also sent out some magnimite out to the Seafoam Islands and Mt. Ember on One Isle to let the others know that we're on their side and doing all we can to help them and pokemon everywhere from Team Rocket. You should be fine, and even Vince should he go there. I showed Zapdos a picture of the three of us so he knows what we look like."

"That's a relief." He sighed and set down his lunch plate. "So when do you plan to head out to the island?"

"Probably after lunch here, once everyone settles down a bit. I also need to have a long chat which my pokemon, there was no need of him doing what he did." I hadn't really eat much of my lunch yet with trying to distract myself from what happened earlier in the afternoon and I just didn't have the stomach after all the events added up.

"Relax Vi, at least finish your lunch first, you'll need the energy." Alex begged me to try and eat, but I just couldn't. I sighed and set down my plate with a half eaten burger still upon it.

"I'm not hungry much Alex. You can have it." He sighed, worry and disappointment all over his features as he took my burger and took a bite out of it. "I'm gonna go find Chalcedony, its time we had that talk now that things have settled down a bit."

"You sure you'll be alright Vi? You want me to come out with you?" He was already standing and ready to go.

I shook my head at him and pulled him back down. "No, I have to do this alone or else you'll aggravate Chalcedony again, unconsciously or consciously. I'll talk to him alone and find out what the problem is, then we'll try and figure something out before we start heading south."

"If you sure Violet, I'll be out back with the others should you need me, should I send him in?"

"Please." Alex looked me over once again with his weary eyes, but allowed the subject matter to drop and he moved away from me to the back door where all the others were, and I saw him motion for Chalcedony to come inside. He then left the doorway and Chalcedony walked in before Alex closed the door behind him. My eevee looked worriedly at the closed door before his eyes focused in on me over at the couch with my partly eat food that even Alex either couldn't or wouldn't finish. His eyes were watering and he hopped up onto the chair opposite of me.

We sat there in silence for a moment, I somehow didn't have the strength at the moment to ask him what happened, and it seemed at the exact same time, Chalcedony couldn't do it either.

"…Why?" My voice was no more then a raspy whisper that Chalcedony probably didn't hear, but assumed it was that, it was the one question we both knew I'd ask.

"Ee… ee eevee ee." He slowly explained I blinked as I let his answer sink in…

"What are you talking about?" More power was in my voice now as anger slowly started to fill into it. "You didn't want Alex to 'take me away from you'? Why on earth would he do that?"

"Eevee ee ee?" Chalcedony questioned me softly.

"Know what? What exactly is it that I don't know Chalcedony?" My hands balled up and rolled into the top of my hips while I waited in my angry stance for his answer.

"Ee eevee eevee ee ee eve?" Chalcedony answered worriedly. His tiny body shook slightly from the well up of emotions inside him. "Eve ee eevee eevee eve ee ee."

My breath caught in my throat and my body stilled. My mind raced to find evidence of what Chalcedony was talking about. My eyes widened when I found what I was looking for, now that I was thinking about it, the evidence was everywhere, when we were young, his concerns for me when I was on the run from him and Vince, in Celadon City, in the Team Rocket Hideout, in Fuchsia, in Saffron, in Lavender, hell, everywhere! I gasped as my hand flew to my mouth and covered instinctively out of surprise.

"…Do the others know too?"

"…Ee." He bowed his head and his tail sank. My breath shook as I breathed in and out to calm myself down enough for our departure. We'd have to head out quickly and make some ground, I needed to get away and think on my own.

"Tell the others we're getting ready to go and say their good-byes Chalcedony, I'm going to say good-bye to Bill, Lovey, Black Spinal and… Alex before we go." He nodded nervously and hurried out of the room and tapped on the door and Alex opened it just enough for him to hurry out of there before Alex could do a thing about it. The boy then walked into the house with me along with Bill and closed the door behind them before they hurried over to me.

"Vi?" Alex's fingers brushed against the side of my arm and it forced me to look at him. We blinked a few times at each other before I felt that I couldn't look him in the eye and lowered my eyes to the floor. "You okay?"

"Yeah… my chat with Chalcedony went… different then what I'd thought I would have been." I sighed and tried to look back at his face. "I think its best that my team and I get moving on, I need to help them fix what's been broken and staying here might make that worse."

"We understand Violet, though I'd recommend getting some warmer clothing first before you go." Bill suggested. "I've still got the warmer clothes you left here with me, so you might want to get those on and take them with you." I sighed and nodded and headed up the stairs.

"Violet, wait up a second!" I paused and looked back as Alex had grabbed his bag and pulled out a large dark grey jacket that was stuffed and lined on the side with pideot and fearow down feathers. They were darkened in colored to a deep brown and the hood was outlined too and two large and thickly insulated pockets were down close to the bottom. This was a damn warm jacket, and I was always jealous of Alex having it, it was the warmest jacket I'd ever worn and he'd let me use it maybe once.

"If you're heading down to that ice island, you might want to take this with you; it keeps in all the body heat and stores it in the down feathers." He said as he set it in my arms. "Trust me; it'll be worth taking with you."

"But what about you?"

He waved it off. "I don't need it now that I'm up north. The cold artic like breeze from the Seafoam Islands carried over to the routes I was on and I had to call Daisy for this. But now that I'm where it's warmer, I don't need it and rather than bother her to take it back in, why don't you take it and keep warm in that ice infested place?"

It was very tempting, not just by the sheer fact that it was probably one of the warmest jackets I'd ever worn, but also because it smelled just like Alex, he had his own spicy cinnamon scent to him as well as a thick balsam fir scent to it as well. It was very addicting…

"If you don't mind, I'd like to take it with me then." He grinned when he saw me agree and for some strange reason, his grin brought a smile to my face, even after all that's happen in this dramatic time.

"You go get changed then, we'll get the others ready to leave with you." I nodded and thanked him before I hurried up the stairs and into the room that Lovey and Black Spinal shared where I kept some of my warmer clothes that I left here earlier on so that I wouldn't have to worry about leaving them with Luke while he's on his 'find the bad guys that's stealing from the business'.

HalloweenWitchHalloweenWitch

It took me only a short while to get my clothes changed into my warmer ones, a nice set of black boots that came up nearly half of my lower legs and thick midnight blue gloves to go over my hands. I had also changed into warmer normal clothes which were long indigo jeans and a black, v neck, long sleeved shirt which Alex's jacket over. I had a navy blue hat that I pulled onto the back of my head with a puffy dark blue ball that hung on the end of it that would help keep my head warm. All my other clothes I would keep in my bag and save them should it get warmer, but from what Alex told me, it wouldn't be for a while since winter was going to be setting into the Kanto region soon, it was going to get cold pretty fast with the warmest area being in Cinnabar Island or the Sevii Islands to the very far south reaching between forty to seventy for lowest and highest.

I came down the stairs pretty quick all wrapped up in my warmer clothes and I saw Alex blink a few times at my different appearance. He rubbed the back of his head and turned his head slightly away from me as I came down the stairs. "Something wrong?"

He shook his head and gave me his trade mark mischievous grin. "Just the difference between summer and winter clothes. It'll probably be close to the middle of November when we meet you in Cinnabar, and there you'll be able to wear your summer clothes for a little bit, though I've heard we're supposed to have a harsh winter and even the most southern places might see snow."

"Well, let's hope it's not that soon. I better start heading out." I walked to the bottom of the stairs and threw my arms around Alex's neck. I felt him stiffen under my grip as my nose somehow rubbed gently against the side of his sensitive skin. "Thanks for meeting up with me and for the jacket Alex, I'll bring it back as soon as I can."

"D-don't worry about it. Bring it back when you're ready or done with it." He slightly stuttered at me but quickly recovered and gave me a soft smile with the tiniest hint of pink in his face as he pulled out of our embrace.

"Are you alright Alex? You look a little pink." I raised one of the back of my hands to his forehead to feel it was indeed warm and Alex all of a sudden turned deeper pink before even shades of red came into play and he shoved his hands in his pockets and turned away from me.

"I'm fine, it's probably no more than a cold at worst, I probably should let you go so you don't come down with it while you're on your way there." He didn't look back at me as he said this, but I could still see the pink hue on his ears and I felt my heart beat a little faster as well and my own face heated up.

"You're right, I better get going. I'll see you in a few weeks on Cinnabar Island." I gave Bill a quick hug and hurried out of there before anything else happened.

Outside were all the others waiting, including Alex's pokemon as well. I hurried over to the two pokemon that I was leaving behind with Bill here. Lovey was the first to fly over at me land on my arm before wrapping her wings over my face like a hug. I had to use my other arm to hug her back gently before she released me and jumped back onto Black Spinal's black and perched there. He rubbed the side of my waist and I patted his head before I got down and wrapped my arms around his bulky neck and hugged him as well.

"I'll come back and see you guys again soon, I promise." My two non-active pokemon sadly looked at me as I smiled back at them. I gave a quick set of good-byes to Alex's pokemon as well before I grabbed onto Amethyst and she helped me up onto her shoulders. Once I was seated, Amber and Zircon quickly climbed up with me while Chalcedony stayed back with Ruby and decided to fly on her. It probably was the best, since once we got out of here; I needed to ask Amethyst about… what Chalcedony told me. My shiny charizard took off into the sky with Ruby leaping after her and easy catching up. We were well on our way now to the Seafoam Islands, and Articuno.

HalloweenWitchHalloweenWitch

We were well on our way over to the Seafoam Islands, just passing over Fuchsia City and heading toward the icy cold coast when so many thoughts were racing through my head. Chalcedony's words, his explanation to me… was it really true? Why doesn't it bother me? Why is it now that I blush every time I see or hear from him… or when I smell his jacket I wore? His scent was so strong on his jacket it was almost intoxicating. My vision blurred from time to time as we traveled and a while later, I'd had enough.

"Amethyst… can you set us down for the night?" She turned back to me in question and slowed down her flight so that she and the others could actually look at me. "I'm getting dizzy girl, please set me down."

My charizard didn't argue and quickly lowered us down to the ground, trying not to shake me up anymore then I already had been today. All my pokemon centered their attention on me with their worries and what not and when we landed. Amethyst pulled me off her shoulders and immediately started a fire. My pokemon herded me toward it and pulled my sleeping bag out of my normal bag and helped me get inside it. I pulled up the hood to Alex's jacket to use as a pillow and to keep extra warm in the cold night as sunset faded and darkness surrounded us on all fronts.

"You guys? Can I ask you a question?" I was laid out on the ground with my face turned toward the fire and my body leaned most on its side toward the roaring flames. "…Does Alex like me?"

"Rhu?" Amethyst questioned softly, her head hovering over my shoulder. "Rhu?"

"Chalcedony, he told me that, and he told me that you all knew it too." An unconscious tear feel from my eye. "Is it true?"

I never got an answer, but I saw in the shadow of my fire pokemon above me that she bowed her head, as well as the others. They wouldn't look me in the eye.

"Good night guys, get some sleep." I curled up deeper into Alex's jacket and let his intoxicating scent lull me to a deep slumber, where many thoughts were jumbled and confused.

Amethyst's Point of View:

I sighed for the utmost time as I watched my human sister sleep in this cold night. We kept the fire burning strongly while she slept to keep her as warm as possible. Humans were such fragile creatures, but they can be the kindest or meanest creatures in our world. It makes me glad that Violet is a human, and that she is protecting us all from the bad humans that cause pain and suffering in this world.

It was quiet around the small campfire that we had with our human sister sleeping and the rest of us mulling over the dreadful happenings of the day. My younger brother had done quite a bit of damage to our human sister today, and his suffering away from the fire and in the darkness, training once again, was for it. I could faintly hear his labored breathing off deep in the woods near the human city know as 'Fuchsia' as Violet had called it.

The events of today… Chalcedony jumped ahead of fate's path and interfered with what was to be between our human sister and her childhood companion. I sighed at the mere thought of how distressed he had made our human sister today, the fear she now holds in her heart for our eldest brother of our group (though he is only a younger brother to myself, Ruby and Amber.)

"I can't believe how stupid Chalcedony was today!" Amber hissed as her tail swung angrily in the air. "Does he even realize what he's done?" She sighed heavily and collapsed on the ground as if she'd run out of breath. "I know I didn't like Alex all that much, but he was good to Violet and helped her out when we couldn't and I wanted the two of them to be together!"

"Hush Amber! Violet may here you." Ruby snapped quietly. "While she may seem asleep, our human sister's mind is wild with raging questions that are searching for answers, and should she hear any words you say, it may misguide her." My elder sister sighed and looked at her arms to see her reflection. "It's best to keep our voices down and work with what we have in the morning, and hopefully by then things will be manageable and workable, and also hopefully Violet will be in better shape than she was tonight."

"She's right, our human sister will need all our help to get her bearings back and get through this, and we must help Chalcedony too, we cannot leave him to suffer as he is regardless of what actions he's preformed." I told the rest. "We are a family, one that this girl brought together no matter what our pasts and no matter how we acted, the least we can do is support her in the same ways she has for us and show our brother that we are still a family and that he does not have to face this battle alone."

"Hmph! He deserves to after what he did." Amber snorted through her own tears. "He made Violet cry…" Amber's voice was shaken as she shivered from memories and the icy wind. "The last time I saw her cry was when the evil flower woman's huanter or gengar used curse on her." Her eyes were wide in fear as she covered her ears. "I can still hear her bones being crushed to pieces and her screams…!"

"Do not think about that Amber, it's all in the past now and Violet has recovered from those wounds." Ruby said soothingly to her. "We have to deal with the new raw ones that had just had been opened."

"Sissy Ruby!" Our baby brother Zircon wrapped himself around my leg to keep warm. "What do we do now?"

"I'm not sure…" she sighed.

"We'll have to wait until morning before we can help our human sister any." I told him, placing my hand on his forehead.

"Not about Sissy Violet, but about Big Brother Chalcedony, he stopped rampaging!" I gasped and listened to the surrounding sounds of the woods, no longer would I hear my little brother's cries of pain, nor his movement, only a light staggered breathing from wherever he'd fallen.

"Stay with Violet and keep her safe, I'll go look for him." Zircon hopped off my leg and into Amber's awaiting arms as I leapt into the sky and carried myself on the winds while I looked for any sign of my younger brother.

Vaguely from the night sky, with my lit tail guiding the way, was I able to see the path of destruction my younger brother had set himself on. Trees were knocked over and limbs had been broken off and sent flying. The ground was dig up and thrown in many directions. While my little brother might have had a small body, that meant nothing, he was still a force to be reckoned with if he was infuriated.

His path of destruction seemed to end below me where I saw the trees at the end of his path upright and growing strongly. It also appeared that they were even too large for my younger brother to handle; their trunks were nearly as wide as both Ruby and I combined and stood high in the air looking over more of the forest then the rest.

I saw my brother on top of a pile of ripped branches that were scattered about. My brother himself was heaving over the pile, down on his side, hardily moving besides his breathing. I landed before the pile and the small light my tail gave off was enough for me to see the extent of blood and bruises on my little brother's body. I sighed as I saw them.

"Let's get you cleaned up; Violet will be worried enough when she sees how damaged you are in the morning." I leaned over the pile with my mouth and gently grabbed him and pulled him toward my body and off the pile before setting him in my arms. I released the grip of my mouth on him and carried him as I took off into the sky again.

"Amethyst…" I heard him whisper. "I really screwed up big time, didn't I?"

"I believe that would be about the gist of it."

"Would it be better… if I left?"

His question did not surprise me after today. "And would good would that do? You would be avoiding the conversation you desperately need to have with Violet and we'd lose a brother, Violet would lose another family member, just like she lost her father." I felt his tears against the inside of my hand from where he curled up into. "Could you do that to her, after all she's done for us? After all she's done for you?"

"But I hurt her…"

"Your point?" I felt him stiffen in surprise in my arms. "We won't always be able to keep her from crying, keep her safe. Its part of her nature to thrust herself into danger, not caring the consequences upon herself, but rather than for others and to help them in any way she possibly can. The best thing we can do for her is stay by her side and help her in any way possible, do everything in our power to help her, and help her get stronger. If I were you, I would start with a proper apology to our human sister for all that you've put her through and try to bring a smile to her face. Do that, and I'm sure in time our human sister will heal and recover and be back to her old self in no time. Violet has never let anything stop her before, why should this now?"

"…I am sorry Amethyst… I thought I was protecting her… I thought he was going to take her away from us…"

"You mean Alex?" My little brother nodded in my arms as I set us down by the water's edge. I was the only light in the area, save for the faint glow we could see through the trees toward where the others were waiting at the campfire and trying their best to keep Violet warm and safe while she battled her thoughts and feelings within her own mind.

Chalcedony gently jumped down from my arms and walked out into the water so that he could submerge himself and clean his soiled fur.

"I saw what she didn't even realize…" he muttered as started to clean himself up. "Whenever Alex was there, he took up most of her attention, he was always thinking about her!" My little brother spat and snarled. "I could see it on his face, even when he tried to hide it, there was always that red color and his heartbeat would speed up. He has stronger feelings for her then we even realized!" His tail slammed down into the water with a force that threw water up high in the air and I had to use my wing to protect my body from the liquid that could kill me. My brother's tears slid down off his face and down into the river where they purified his guilt and greed. "I didn't want Violet to feel the same way so she wouldn't leave us…"

"Violet? Leave us?" I questioned him harshly. "Are you positive that we're speaking of the same human girl here?" I shook my head. "Little brother, you've become jealous and greedy over a small fact that you do not even know if it is true or not." He sat in the river faced away from me, refusing to turn around. "Look at me little brother."

His composure was cracking; I could see it even if he wouldn't show it to me. He didn't want me to see him this way, in such a broken state and after he'd done so much wrong. "I only wanted her to stay so we could continue to be a family, like she's told us so many times…! We only just found each other…!"

"And who's to say that even if she did like him back or if she and him became mates that our family would change at all?" I heard my little brother gasp and he turned to finally look at me with his face full of anguish. I smiled at him. "Violet always has and always will treasure us as her beloved sisters and brothers, and an addition to our family such as Alex would not change how much she cares for us, nor how much time she would spend with us unless she was physically unable to when she was hurt or what not. Alex only wants the best for her, and he's willing to stay in the dark about his feelings to make sure she gets all she wants in this world. Have you not seen the struggle in himself every time he comes near? Only one time did he come close to telling her the truth, but he either didn't have the courage or he 'bit his tongue' as Violet would say and kept it hidden inside him." I stepped over to the edge of the water and looked down at him. "We must accept that if she does care about him, then we have to stand by her side and help her, should it be a good or bad decision."

Chalcedony finally turned completely and washed away his tears in the river with a quick dip of his head. "This is Violet we're talking about," he showed me the first smile I would see that night. "When does she ever make a good decision?"

I showed him a large grin of my own. "Never, and it's what makes our family's bond stronger."

Chalcedony walked out of the river and shook the water mostly out of his fur, leaving it still only damp to the touch, but it was less water than before. He jumped back up into my arms and I hissed against the cold.

"Sorry Amethyst, do you want me to wait and dry up first?"

I shook my head. "No, it's not worth it; I have to get you back to the others anyway, their worried."

"Not what I heard Amber say," he huffed.

"Now, now, she does care; she's just worried for Violet. She doesn't want her having any permanent damage that could destroy our family. Amber's already lost part of one already; she doesn't need that to happen again."

Chalcedony looked down at the water as we took off. "That's right; her mom's still gone, isn't she?"

I sighed yet nodded to him as I flew us back. "Yes, her mother's been gone for quite some time now, and now she looks up to Violet as almost another mother figure, or at least an older sister who took her in out of the blue and gave her everything back when she'd lost it all in one fellow swoop." I tilted to the side to approach our camp. "Other than Violet, I've been with Amber the longest; the mentioning of her mother wakes a deep and sorrowful anger that's been buried within her. While she still may be angry at you, I would suggest apologizing to the others as well; you've quite frightened them all and made them worry."

"I will Amethyst." The others looked up at us in worry as I landed and I set Chalcedony on the ground. Ruby's face was emotionless as she held a worried Zircon and Amber angrily place a paw on her side and glared at our little brother.

"My apologies for taking so long, I took him to the river to clean up, his fur was soiled with things that would upset Violet when she wakes." Ruby gave me a nod while Amber softened her look at Chalcedony. She sighed and turned back toward the fire and sat as close as she could to stay warm.

"I'm really sorry you guys." Chalcedony bowed his head as he apologized to the rest of our family. "I'm sorry for worrying you all and all the damage I've caused. I promise I'll make it up to you and fix all that I can." He dared then to face them. "I already plan to apologize to Violet in the morning, when she feels better… hopefully…"

"I guess I can forgive you then." Amber huffed as she watched the fire. "But if you ever do that again, I swear to you, I won't forgive you, got it?"

"I promise Amber." My younger brother sighed in relief.

"But that doesn't mean the others forgive you, it's up to them entirely." Our electric mouse sister said quickly after to warn him. Chalcedony nodded gravely and looked over at Ruby and Zircon. With my elder sister's cold look glancing upon our younger brother, it was hard to tell what was going through her head, but Ruby still had moments where you could read everything on her mind and Violet was one of the few who could do that on a regular basis.

"I don't see why we need or you need to punish yourself further, you already realize your mistake and plan to correct as well as possible." Ruby finally said after a long and awkward feeling moment. A smile appeared on her face and he body looked to have relaxed where she sat. "We are a family after all, and as different as we are, we all strangely fit together, without a piece, we could not function as well as when we are together."

"Yeah Big Brother Chalcedony!" Zircon leapt off of Ruby's leg and landed on his brother's back and curled around him. "Don't ever leave again; I don't wanna lose my only brother!"

"But you have Black Spinal too for a brother." Chalcedony argued softly with a grin.

"But I don't know him as well as I know you, and brothers are supposed to stick together!" Our little brother's grip tightened around Chalcedony and a tear slipped off his slick skin. "Family's supposed to stick together…!"

"That's right Zircon, a family is supposed to stick together, which means that we're going to stick together no matter what." I smiled at the rest of my family as our wound that we felt quickly healed between us and we all faced each other with smiles just as we had before.

All that's left is our human sister. I sighed as I looked over at her. Her body was very still and the only movement I saw was her breathing as her chest rose and fell.

"She'll be alright; Violet won't let this keep her down for very long." Ruby nudged my arm with the soft part of her scythe like arm. "Just believe in her."

"I'm doing my best to do that, its not as hard as you'd think, it's just… one day it's going to be too much for her and she'll come crashing down." I glanced over at my older sister. "Are we prepared to be there for her when that happens?"

"I know we will Amethyst, Violet has too strong of a will to keep her down." Ruby glanced at her as I had a moment ago with longing eyes. "She's one of the strongest willed humans I've met, even more so then most of the pokemon I know. We have little to worry about, at least, for the time being."

"After this mess of course." I reminded her.

"Of course, after this mess." Ruby nodded and directed me back toward our human sister. "I believe it would be best for us to get some sleep, we can use our body head to keep not only Violet warm, but ourselves as well."

"I call inside the sleeping bag with Violet!" Amber called out and raced to the sleeping bag where our human sister slept.

"No fair Sissy Amber!" Zircon teared up as he watched Amber get away from him and he'd lose his chance to sleep with Violet in her warm sleeping bag that was closed up all around her.

"You are not having the entire sleeping bag and Violet to yourself Amber, you will share," I demanded of the electric mouse.

"Yes Amethyst." She groaned her reply and dug herself deep into Violet's sleeping bag, stirring our human sister just slightly before they both relaxed and Amber started to drift off.

"Let's get you to bed Zircon, its well past your bed time." The tiny hiccupping pokemon nodded and held onto his brother's body that he was holding on to while Chalcedony walked him over to the sleeping bag. Chalcedony still didn't feel like he could accept a lot of the warmth we all gave off, so he offered to sleep on a corner of the sleeping bag near Violet's head.

Ruby used the power of her wings to blow out the fire and soon enough, we got settled on either side of our family to keep the warmth inside. I kept the fire remains to my back should in the middle of the night it catch and start up again and Ruby took the other side. We were all cozy between the warmth of all of us, and it didn't take the others long to fall asleep.

"But once all this drama is over with," Ruby whispered to me, our eyes barely open from pure laziness and tiredness, "we will find out who is the strongest of the eldest sisters."

"That, I'm looking forward too." I whispered back to her with a grin and easily then slipped off to sleep with my head rested against my claws and my warmth kept everyone and even myself warm.

Violet's Point of View:

I could feel warmth still around every since of my body as I slowly opened my eyes to the cool foggy morning to route nineteen. My pokemon were surrounded around me to keep not only me warm, but themselves as well from the chilling night we just went through with little to no cover other then the trees.

Wait a minute… When I looked back at some of the trees from last night, I saw that they were broken into many pieces and smashed with an incredible amount of power. It reminded me of a pokemon that had gone on a long rampage since the damage seemed to carry out deeper into the woods. Did some pokemon come and attack us while I was sleeping? Why didn't anyone get me up?

I could understand that my pokemon didn't want to bother me after the events of yesterday; even I wouldn't have really wanted to get up with all the thoughts that were really roaming through my head. But now that I had everything taken care of and I was more of my old self, I could deal with a matter like this. My feelings and Alex's and whatever could possibly happen can wait until a later date, what matters now is my pokemon and I getting to that icy island and some more training.

I slowly undid the zipper on my sleeping bag and moved around the other pokemon that had slept inside it with me last night. When I got by them, I was surprised to see that Chalcedony wasn't anywhere near the others, he must have gotten up early. Covering the pokemon back up with the sleeping bag cover, I glanced around for my normal type pokemon anywhere in the area.

He was over by the fire pit we made last night. He was looking at the ashes and wood pieces that were still in the center. His ears were down as he looked at it before they shifted and went strait up before he looked over his shoulder at me. I gave him a soft smile and he became less visually ridged when he saw that.

"How are you feeling Chalcedony? Did you sleep alright?" I questioned him after a pause filled moment.

"Ee…" he replied softly. "Ee?"

"I feel a lot better then I did before, I'm glad I had us stop for the night." I rubbed my eyes tiredly. "I was so dizzy; I was worried I'd fall off Amethyst and cause you all to worry."

I saw something flash before Chalcedony's eyes, a realization of some sort. As he shifted, so did his fur. I saw that some patches had become matted and dried blood and scratches were all over him. I gasped and it grabbed my pokemon's attention as he looked at me worriedly.

"Chalcedony what happened to you?" My hand raced to cover my mouth in worry. "How did-"

But I had put two and two together. I knew Chalcedony was small, but that didn't mean that he couldn't do more damage then the size of himself. The damage all around this area was because of him. And I saw the regret in his eyes; he did it after what he said to me yesterday, after what he did yesterday. I sighed and reached into my bag and pulled out my extra brush.

"Come over here, I'll try and brush out some of those mats in your fur." My pokemon hesitantly walked over to me and I sat down on the ground so he could crawl onto my lap. I gently pushed the brush against his fur and with patience I normally didn't have other then that moment, I brushed the welly knotted mats within my pokemon's fur. I did my best to cause my pokemon as little pain as possible, but with as many mats as he had in his fur, that was harder then what I had imagined it would be.

Still, Chalcedony didn't move much at all and continued to allow me to brush his fun until the mats were out of it and his now loose fur was over the spots where I'd seen blood. Once I was done I pulled a potion out of my bag and started to spray him with it and gently folding back his fur so I could hit the cuts properly. I could hear him hissing lightly at the pain, but he didn't argue with my work upon him.

"…Ee…" My pokemon finally spoke to me.

"Hey, don't worry about it, but you better still give an apology to Alex when we see him next, you owe him that much." I whispered back to him softly.

"Eevee ee… eevee ee eve ee…" I saw the tears slip from the edges of his eyes and I wiped them away with the tip of my finger.

"Yes, you're right, you had no right to do what you did," I agreed with him. "But Chalcedony, as much as it hurts to remember that, as much as… I was afraid of you when that happened… there's nothing that can change that." I could feel his body tense and his heart rate increase through the tips of my fingers within his thick fur coat. "It's apart of who you are to be protective of what you have because for so long, you've had little to nothing." He began to shake under my fingers and more tears flowed. "While you may have caused a great deal of trouble, your family won't judge you, and they'll help you move on to a better life…"

Chalcedony dared to look up at my face. A single tear of happiness rolled down the side of it and landed onto the tip of one of his ears. He flicked his ear before his face and watched as that tear glistened brightly before it fell to the ground. I heard him sob before he pushed his face into my abdomen and cried. My shoulder sagged as I sighed and raised a hand to gently pet the top of his head.

It took him a few moments to get it all out, but once he had, he looked up at me with the old smile I remembered. "Ee…"

"Don't worry about it, now you think you're ready for travel? We still gotta go find a legendary bird of ice."

"Ee!"

HalloweenWitchHalloweenWitch

After getting up the others and having a quick breakfast, we were well on our way again to get over at the Seafoam Islands. There were actually two above ground entrances that led to the icy underwater cavern below, filled, for the most part, with air to sustain even that of Articuno's life here. Berries that tended to grow in harsher conditions or that somehow grew underwater and in the sea water was there for the pokemon to eat, though I'm not sure if I'd like to have most of those kinds.

The islands came into view shortly after the fog had been burned off by the morning sun and my two flying pokemon came into a small landing area right outside of the icy cave entrance to the right island. You could feel the chill riding on the wind from this place and ice was forming on the edging of the entrance, just enough to make it a slippery coating of black ice, a wonderful kind of ice (not!)

We were all able to slip inside the cave's entrance just long enough to see some of the pokemon that resided on the top level, they mostly were pokemon who needed more time out in the sun to survive in this harsh environment, which mostly was the zubat and golbat, though there were a few water pokemon swimming about in the unfrozen sea water that floated into this place from other areas in the walls and from below.

It was then that I noticed a pokemon that wasn't in tune with the types of pokemon that normally stay here, it was a magnimite, most likely the one that Zapdos had sent out here to alert Articuno that were coming and that we weren't enemies. It looked worriedly at the ground before it glanced up and its eyes went wide at me. I blinked a few times and so did the pokemon before it cheered and cried out a million tears that froze when they hit the air and slammed into my abdomen. I cried out from the sudden hit, realizing then how it must feel when you're first starting out and getting hit with a tackle, and I patted the genderless body.

"Magnemite, what are you still doing here? I thought you would have headed back to the power plant by now." The small magnet pokemon looked up at me worriedly before it floated quickly back over to a large hole that was in the floor. Other pokemon used this moment to either fly down it or dive in the watering areas around the hole and headed downwards.

"I guess we're going down." I shrugged and grabbed onto Amethyst's shoulders and the magnemite jumped down into the hole and the rest of us jumped in after it. Amethyst slowly lowered me down through the apparent many levels of this underwater cavern. We at least passed through four or so large levels before we made it to the bottom floor that we all easily landed on. We were standing on one of the two only land masses on the entire floor. The one we were on was the larger one of the two and most of the pokemon stood or sat worriedly on it, none were in the water.

I looked past them to see the raging waters spiraling in the majority of the floor. More water was flowing in from a type of waterfall on the wall, but it seemed to flowing a reasonable amount of water into the area and wouldn't cause such an uproar. It was the river below it that was spewing out uncontrollable amounts of water that raced into the area and made the water level rise so quickly. I also saw there was a hole under the water at the bases of the large whirlpool that took up most of the room, but with the largely overly continuous flow of water from the spouting river and the waterfall above, this place was going to fill up in only a few hours.

A sudden cry caught my attention and my eyes flew to the other platform that was on this floor that was still above water. I saw there was a large nest made of dead twigs, feathers and snow along its outer edges. Within the nest was a magnificent bird of sapphire feathers that glittered with ice fragments that were settled on their edges. A blue beak and slender legs with talons greeted my eyes and a powder blue under fluff sat upon its chest while a river of long slender feathers whipped around behind it. Strawberry eyes glanced around in panic as it glared at the river that was over flowing water into this place. This had to be the legendary bird of ice, Articuno.

"Okay, this place is gonna be underwater soon if we don't do something about it. We're gonna need at least three large rocks, large enough to first close off that opening, and then two more as a holder to keep this from happening any time in the near future." I turned away from the scene before me and turned back to the magnemite. "Do you know of or have you seen any large rocks that would be large enough to hold this water back?"

The magnemite had to think for a moment, but soon it blinked its eyes open wide and nodded to me. "Good, lead Amethyst and Ruby to those locations." I looked back at my strongest pokemon. "You two throw them down to this bottom level and from there we can move them into place and cut off the water long enough to freeze them. Hurry Amethyst, Ruby!" My two pokemon flew off without haste and I turned my attention back to the pokemon behind me. "Alright, I need everyone who knows some sort of ice type attack to gather and be ready to use that move when I ask it or else this water will come right back out once we get the hole plugged up! I also need all the pokemon who are strong and willing to hold the bolder in place while the other boulders are also put in place."

Without even having to wait a moment, most to every one of the pokemon here in the area were rallied up and stiffly waiting by the water's edge. While I looked through the pokemon, I saw one familiar one that I knew I'd seen before. I walked over to it and placed my hand down on its (supposed) shoulder. "I'm glad to see you got home, Dewgong."

The pokemon smiled up at me with no fear in its eyes and I pulled out my pokedex for a quick moment to get its data while we waited on the rocks. Dewgong, the sea lion pokemon. Dewgongs' body is covered with a pure white fur, the colder the weather, the more active they are. It stores thermal energy in its body and swims at a steady eight knots even in intensely cold waters. They love to snooze on bitterly cold ice. The sight of this pokemon sleeping on a glacier was mistakenly thought to be a mermaid by a mariner long ago. Dewgong are not common to find and tend to only live on the Seafoam Islands and Isle Four's Ice Cave.

I was glad to see it'd gotten home. I was worried about many of the pokemon that we freed from Team Rocket in Celadon, but now my fears of that are calming. More and more pokemon that I see daily have been home with their loved ones and healing their emotional and physical wounds. It makes it all worth it, all the trouble I go through, all the pain and suffering I put up with. It's all to make their lives better and protect them and save them from this growing evil.

I felt the ground moving beneath my feet and I turned to see a large bolder had been knocked into the bottom floor, more followed after it until a total of three were there. Amethyst and Ruby landed on the ground and picked up the largest one first and used all their power to just carry it over to where the river was. They dropped it into place and the water was instantly cut off with only a few streams at the sides were still flowing.

"Hold it you guys! We're coming!" With the help of a couple golbats, they flew me and the rest of my team over to the rock with the water pokemon quickly diving into the water and swimming through the dying currents to help keep the rock in place. The ice type pokemon made a floor of ice all around the boulder so we had some ground to grab onto. Many bodies of pokemon and my own team and myself pushed against the rock as the water pushed against it to keep it out.

"Amethyst! Ruby! Grab the other rocks and get them in place!" It was a struggle to hold the rock in place without my two strongest pokemon helping out, but it was one of the prices to pay to get this set up right.

The river that the bolder was in front of led from a thin path and got gradually wider. Behind the firs bolder that covered the entrance from the river, there was enough space for the two other boulders to sit perfectly behind it. Then all we'd have to do is freeze it and it should stay in place for a long time-

I could feel the pressure pushing us backward, the water was starting to come in again, even after it had gone down so much! We pushed with all our might but the large rock was starting to give way.

"Ruby! Amethyst! Hurry!" I screeched over the grunts and cries of all the others.

There was a sudden hit and I felt the bolder push back into its place. I looked above and there I saw it, Articuno had gotten over its panic attack and had charged the bolder, pushing her own body against it to keep it in there while we waited on the others. More crashing was behind me as I heard the other two boulders be set down behind us. The boulders were put as closely to us and the first bolder as possible before we all hightailed it out of there and the ice type pokemon started away with ice beam and icy wind. The boulders started to freeze as water sprayed and leaked all over them, effectively helping us out, but then the excess water continued to flow.

I heard a sudden screech and I watched as my own little Zircon joined in with an apparent ice beam of his own, it came out more powerful then I expected and the water that was leaking started to freeze as well. With another cry out into the air, Articuno used some sort of attack that filled the air with raging snow and freezing cold air that froze everything the attack was directed at.

I looked away and covered my eyes as the cold and snow raced before them until I felt the wind stop. I slowly pulled back my arm and grinned at the masterpiece we had before us. The entire wall was covered in ice as well as the three boulders that were in the way of the river that was overflowing the area. The ice acted as a glue for them and the pressure was now held up by a thick wall of rock and ice, something that would take forever for nature to tear down, and that we could fix over time should it be damaged.

I sighed out of relief and everyone began to cheer at the success of the wall and the water started to drain to a more reasonable level in the room. The water type pokemon excitedly jumped into the water and started to splash about with each other and play as if none of these events had even taken place. I looked over to see the magnemite grab my attention from the ledge it was up on. It said it was going back home, and I waved him off and let him be, I'm sure he wanted to make it back there before the winter started to settle in.

I sighed and leaned back against a wall before falling down to the ground. "Well, I guess we can add 'saving the Seafoam Islands' to our list of 'have dones'." My pokemon all rolled their eyes at me and I felt Zircon crawl into my lap. He was breathing heavily, but for the most part, he seemed okay. The others were all the same.

The articuno flew back to its nest and I watched as a tiny head of a smaller legendary bird of ice peaked up at the parent. It looked just like its parent with is sapphire blue coloring. I pulled out my pokedex to run the information I had on it. Articuno, the freeze pokemon. Articuno is a legendary bird pokemon that can control ice. The flapping of its wings chills the air. As a result, it is said that when this pokemon flies, snow will fall. With its long tail trailing behind it, its flying form is magnificent. It is said that this pokemon will appear to doomed people who are lost in icy mountains. There is only one of its kind known of and it's never been seen before by any researcher of any kind. Please wait, updating more data on the legendary pokemon to pokedex files… please wait for shiny files to be up loaded…

Wait! What? I glanced back up at the nest and watched the two interact before I saw a third body moving inside the nest. A powdery blue colored articuno popped its head up above the nest and chirped at its parent. Looking just like its parent and sibling (minus the powdery blue coloring compared to sapphire blue) there was a snow white down fluff covered chest. Its beak still looked to be the normal sapphire blue color and its eyes were still a strawberry red like the others.

"Oh man… this is really bad…"

The others looked to where I was looking at and saw the shiny articuno. While most of my team didn't catch on right away, Amethyst and Ruby did and nearly freaked out like I had. I climbed up onto my fire pokemon's body and she lifted us off the ground with her powerful wings and flew us over to the fast growing second solid mass of land on this floor. The parent stiffened as we approached, but it relaxed a bit when it saw it was us. It greeted us kindly with a bow of its head.

I looked over worriedly at the articuno's child; it looked up at me worriedly when it saw my own worried face. It cried out softly at me, wondering what was wrong.

I sighed and shook my head. "You're in even more danger then I thought. You're a shiny pokemon, rare, that devil woman Rose will be after you if she find out not only do you exist, but that you're so young. If Rose knows you exist, she'll stop at nothing to capture you. She attacked me and tried to kill me in order to get my shiny charizard." Amethyst turned her head away at the memory, all my pokemon did from their fear of me nearly dying. "I don't know how long this place can be safe for you and you family like this; you might need another place to stay."

The parent articuno screeched at me (I'm not sure if I translated this right since she nearly knocked out my ears) "where do you expect me to take them?". I held up my hands to try and calm it while I thought.

I groaned when only one place came to mind. Oh I can't believe I'm going to do this!

I had Amethyst fly me over to the near by island of Cinnabar that I planned to meet the guys at after our training was done. But this island was also the closest video chat phone for miles, and also it was the closest town to my home, where I dreaded having to call. My fire pokemon stood nervously behind me as I typed in the number I wanted to call and held the phone to my ears while an image of the lab quickly came up. A tiredly looking Professor Oak stood there with dark bags under his eyes and a nearly grouchy look on his face.

"Hello…? Pallet Town Research.. Center…"

"Professor? What the hell happened to you?" His eyes went wide at my words and he stared at me before he literally jumped out of his seat and ran off. I could faintly hear him calling for Daisy.

"Violet!" I suddenly saw the young woman who I thought closely like a sister to me come into the picture and soon the Professor stood behind her. He composed himself quickly and smiled at me before I saw a vein pop on his head.

"VIOLET VILMOS YOU ARE IN SO MUCH TROUBLE YOUNG LADY! YOU RAN OFF ON YOUR OWN, FOUGHT OFF A MAJOR CRIMINAL ORGANIZATION AND MADE YOU MOTHER WORRY HERSELF TO THE BONE! DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA-"

"We get it Grandpa, now hush!" Daisy silenced him by grabbing onto his ear and he howled in pain. I still felt my ears ringing from the professor's shouting, but that was normal for him if he hadn't had any rest and got cranky. "Oh Violet, I missed you so much! …But why are you calling here? Are you going to talk to your mom?"

"No… I called for another reason-"

"Violet as much as I know you don't particular care about your mother's perspective of what you're doing, which I still find dangerous that should be left up to the police," the professor noted his opinion to me. "I think you should pay your mother a visit, she's going through some stages of depression-"

"Wh-what?" I blinked a few times before I felt my chest weld up. "What happened? Why is she going through depression?"

"She's worried so much about you and now even your brother that she's to the point where her mental stability is crashing down. It's the reason why she was sent to the hospital in Celadon and then sent back here and not allowed into the city after you. Your father's disappearance, you acting just like he did, and now your brother to a certain degree as well, it's weighing down her heart. She needs to see you Violet, please say you'll come."

I felt a couple tears slip down the side of my cheek. I didn't know she was this bad, or that I hurt her so much, but I can't just stop everything and stay with her all the time. Can I make her see my perspective of this?

The professor and Daisy waited anxiously on my answer. "Please Violet…"

"I'll… I'll come back for a bit, I'll see her." I heard a happy gasp from across the line as Daisy and the professor looked relieved. "But I also need help."

Daisy saw that serious look in my eyes and her hand flew up to before her mouth. "What happened?" she demanded. "What happened Violet?"

"Nothing yet, but if we don't do something now, it will. And this, it needs to stay quiet, not a peep to anyone, and no one is to know but us and a few exceptions like Alex, Vince and possible Mom."

"We understand Violet," Professor Oak said. "Now explain what's to happen."

"I've been training with the legendary birds that live within the region of Kanto; I've seen and gathered information on Zapdos and Articuno. Moltres, the legendary bird of fire, doesn't live in the region, it lives on a far away island that I've yet to visit, but knows not to attack me, thanks to Zapdos."

"They really live here…" The professor gasped.

I nodded. "But the problem is that both the two I met I know have kids, and the one I'm worried about the most is Articuno and her kids. She has a child of both genders, not only is that just screaming for Team Rocket to steal, but…" I looked around the area behind me nervously for anyone who was standing nearby before I whispered into the phone: "One of them is a shiny."

"Oh no!" Daisy gasped nervously. "Rose'll be after it then!"

I nodded. "That's why I need your help, I need some place for those birds to live and be kept out of sight until I can get rid of Team Rocket, for good." I looked at the two of them worriedly. "Will you help me?"

"Don't worry Violet, you just get those three birds here and we'll handle the rest, and go see your mother."

I nodded to them. "I will, see you in a bit." I cut off the conversation there and I turned back to my worried looking pokemon. "Let's go back and tell the 'wonderful' news to the others."

While I might have gotten Daisy and the professor to agree to our idea, Articuno was another story, she detested the idea of taking her children out in the open, but she finally gave in when I told her I would call my pokemon down from Cerulean to help look after them and keep them safe.

We flew high up in the cloud cover to hide from anyone who could see us as we flew in the direction of my hometown. It's been so long since I've been here… nearly three quarters of the year. Has it really been that long since I saw my mother? It didn't feel all that long ago when my journey was supposed to start, when I met Rose for the first time when she tried to take Amethyst from me, when my mother and I fought over the phone… and so much more… Will she be the same when she sees me? Will she scream at me for disobeying her? …Will I never see her smile again?

I felt Amethyst tense under me as my thoughts rambled and I stressed out over them. She glanced over her shoulder at me as if to ask "what's wrong?". I sighed and laid my head against the back of her neck and cried.

"I'm scared Amethyst," I whispered hoarsely. "I don't want her to hate me, but I need to help everyone." I felt her claws reach back on her shoulder where one of my hands were and she placed it on top of it. The warmth spread through my wind chilled fingers and I felt myself relax a bit, even if it was only slightly.

"Thanks girl."

"Rai!" Amber called out from the back of Ruby. I looked back before myself and I came to the nighttime version of Pallet Town as the dusk was starting to settle and the night was taking over. The houses glittered like tiny fluttering bug pokemon, shedding off an old layer of powder on their wings and when it catches the light, it's like a million stars, but closer to the ground.

Amethyst flew into the ground first with Ruby and then Articuno right behind us with the two articuno kids last. I allowed Amethyst to carry me on her shoulders while we walked as quietly through the town as we could toward the lab. I saw the professor and Daisy waiting out at the front for us and I whistled to them. Daisy caught on it like a fearow and darted in my direction, nearly crashing head first into Amethyst.

"Its good to see you finally got here," she commented. "We'll take and help get he articunos settled, you go see your mom and we'll come over and check on you later." She led the three of them off in a hurry and I climbed off of Amethyst and led my five pokemon toward the house that I grew up in. everything looked just like it had the day I left, even as I opened the front door and looked inside.

There I saw her, she was sitting on her favorite couch, lying down with a book in her hands, most likely trying to go to sleep. She sighed and closed the book and grabbed the picture frame next to her and looked at it. I didn't need to look at the picture to remember which one it was, it was one of our entire family well before my father had disappeared. Our Dad carried both Vince and I while Mom stood before him and between the two of us, holding our hands. I used to look at it when I was younger when I thought that maybe Dad would come home if I believed, but over time, that feeling started to fade until recently with this new information about him we're found.

"Violet?" I blinked away the memories and pushed them to the back of my mind and looked over at my mother. She'd taken the photograph and set it down on the table and was looking at me in pure shock.

"Hi Mom," I said softly to her. "Can we come in?"

"We?" I moved out of the way so all my pokemon could poke their heads in through the front door and looked at her. She blinked at them a few times at them before I saw her smile return to her face and she made a move to get up.

"You don't need to get up Mom, we'll come to you."

"I'm fine sweetie, there's nothing wrong with me." I hurried over to her and helped her back onto the couch.

"That's not what the professor said," I told her sternly. I took a seat next to her and my eyes looked only at the floor.

"Oh where are my manners, come in, come in!" she told my pokemon. She looked around at all of them before she got a glimpse of Amethyst and she gasped. "Is that… oh dear Mew! It is! Amethyst sweetie, you look radiant in your dark skin." She gestured to the others. "Are these your teammates?" My fire type pokemon nodded to her and my mother rushed to her feet before I could stop her. "Come in, come in! We have plenty of room, don't wait in the doorway!" She urged all my pokemon inside before she closed the door. "Now I want to know all your little names! I never knew my daughter had such a wonderful looking team!"

"Calm down Mom, you seem a lot peppier then you normally are," I noted to her. My mother sighed and nodded before she sat back down and looked at her hands.

"It's the medication the doctors in Celadon prescribed me. Apparently I've had depression for longer then I thought, since about the time your father disappeared," she whispered to me. "The medication helps me keep my mind off those things and keeps me looking forward. I should have been prescribed it a long time ago, but, as you and I both know, that didn't happen."

"So you're doing better? Are you still against me on my journey?"

"I am getting better honey, but as for you adventures, I've come to accept them. As much as I still don't approve of what you're doing, if you didn't do it, then most likely no one would."

"Yeah, Alex didn't want me doing it either when we found that Team Rocket base in Celadon, he wanted me to just turn the information over to the police, but I knew if I did that, they'd have moved the pokemon far away from there before they even got mobilized. So I took matters into my own hands, and this is how it turned out. Granted I have had my fair share of painful events whenever I ran into Rose, she loves Amethyst, but she hates me." I sighed. "She's had her gengar curse me a few times, but I finally got back at her this last time when I did her face in. I'm really hoping I busted her nose up good. I couldn't tell with all the bl-"

"Let's not talk about that sweetie; I really don't need to hear the details," my mother said quickly, cutting me off before I got to the more gruesome parts.

"Sorry Mom, I got carried away." I shook my head and slapped my cheeks before I sighed. "Rose was after Amethyst, and aiming to stop me from saving Saffron and the company."

"Do I dare ask how many times she's done this to you?"

"Only twice, I'm not sure if she'll try it again, the last time I faced it, my will power broke through it and I right hooked her in the face-" my mother glanced at me worriedly. "…And other things that I won't go into detail about."

"Let's move onto another topic sweetie, like how about you introduce the others on your team to me?" my mother suggested nervously, trying desperately to change the subject and get us onto a lighter note.

"Oh, okay, sorry about that Mom." I looked over at my team as they nervously tried to hold back their comments on what I'd brought up during the first conversation with my mother in months. "I'll start off in the order that I got them in. First is Amber, my raichu. I found her in the Viridian Forest after her mother had been taken by Team Rocket and her dad, Surge Andrews' raichu, couldn't find either of them. She's an energetic personality that doesn't like to slow down, but she doesn't like to participate in all of our battles unless she has to, or unless it a bad guy's butt to kick." Amber grinned at my mother and my mother reached over to pat her head, which my loveable raichu chued at.

"She's adorable," my mother commented.

"Next is Chalcedony, my eevee. I met up with him in Celadon when he wanted to be apart of my team and ended up stealing Alex's wallet and we had to chase him all around town to get it back. He listened to me, but not Alex. Chalcedony seems to have a particular hatred for Alex because of… certain reasons…" My mother blinked as I fumbled with my fingers in my lap as I thought about my friend.

"Okay, either you finally figured out that he likes you or someone told you." I gapped at my mother as she crossed her arms and legs and waited for my answer. "Well?"

"How in hell-?"

"Language Violet."

"Sorry, but how did you know?"

"Honey, I've always known." She was nearly laughing behind the hand that covered her mouth as she tried to keep it in. "I wasn't quite sure at the beginning of your journey, but your brother gave hints every now and then when he still talked to me. And once the medication really kicked in, I really started to see things clearer, and I realized I knew all this time, but I just couldn't say it. But enough about that, you and I can talk about that later, I want to hear about these last two of yours."

"I can live with that. Okay, so the bug pokemon over there that's nearly as tall as Amethyst is Ruby, she's my scyther, and a pretty big sister and mother like personality to boot since she took care of my last pokemon for a while before I met the two of them."

"Her eyes are beautiful," my mother commented as she got a good look of them. "Just like real rubies."

"That's why I named her that, for her raging ruby like eyes." I then picked up Zircon and he nuzzled himself into my lap. "This is the last one of my current team; his name is Zircon, the youngest of the batch and my dratini. He'd apparently fallen into an underground cave in the Safari Zone and I had to climb down into there to pull him out." My mother gently petted his head and curled it into his touch. "He's so adorable; I can't see how he ended up in the underground cave."

"No one knew it was there, and the ground's unstable. This little guy sent out a dragon rage blast that nearly knocked all of us off our feet and had a majority of it in the forest area cave in and revealed what was below." Zircon looked up at me happily before he leapt from my lap over to Amethyst and Ruby he curled up into for warmth and a good night's rest. "I also have two pokemon that aren't here right now that I rescued from Team Rocket that I left in the care of Bill Hugh, but now that it looks like we have things patched up, I have them head over in this direction so they can stay with you and keep you company so you don't worry as often."

"Oh Violet, you don't need to worry about me. I've gotten the help I needed to get back on track and I'll be fine now."

"It'll make me feel better about leaving again Mom, I want you to continue to be better and not be lonely down here." I sighed and looked down at my hands. "You've been lonely ever since Dad disappeared-"

"Violet, I don't want to talk about your father." My mother wept into her hand as a heavy sigh escaped from her. "I've… finally started to move on, I don't want to hear anything about him."

I looked over at her worriedly. "Even if it means we might be able to find him?"

My mother gasped and looked back at me with tear filled eyes. "He's alive?"

"I don't know." I sighed. "But since I started my journey, I met people who knew him right up to when he disappeared." My own tear fell from my eye. "He was a friend of the owner of Silph Co. and he was associated with Mr. Fugi in Lavender Town. He was the one who came up with the plans and schematics for the master ball, which were given to me when I was there." I pulled the manila folder out of my bag and set it on the table. "Mr. Fugi had the most information about him before Dad disappeared. Apparently Dad was trying to stop Team Rocket like I was, and found a base in the Victory Road to the northwest of here." My mother's eyes widened. "I know Dad's the cause of the explosion, but we have nothing else to go on then that. Our only clue is to go there, and I plan to do so once I get all my badges, I only have two left to go."

My mother's form shook and I saw how much distress I put on her. I slid closer to her on the couch and brought her into my arms. "I'm gonna find him Mom, I'm gonna bring him home and make us a family again."

My mother said nothing, she only cried in my arms. I continued to hold her and my pokemon all stayed quiet while this event was going on.

A sudden screeching cry came from outside and I held my mother tighter as I turned to look at the window. The fait shadow of a pokemon was out there. Amber got up to the window quickly and looked outside before she blinked her eyes in surprise. "Rai!"

"What?" I stood up quickly and my mother released her tough grip of me and I walked over to the window. I opened them wide and a blast of cold air came into the house. Amethyst hurried over to my mother and sheltered her from the cold as the figure came closer and stuck its head in the window.

"Aritcuno! What are you doing here?" She curled her head into the side of my outstretched hand and rubbed her feathers against it.

"Kaa!" she said stubbornly. She then proceeded to explain how she wanted to take Team Rocket down for all the damage they've done to her friends and family, and forcing many, if not all of them, into hiding. She saw that I was a worthy warrior and asked if I would allow her to join our family.

I blinked in surprise as did everyone else on my team. "You want to join my team? Our family?" I reached over for my bag and put it back on my shoulder. "Are you sure? What about your kids?"

She said they'd be fine here with all the protection from the humans and other pokemon to keep them safe, at least for the time being if we could keep this quiet. She wanted to battle and feel glory as we did when we freed those that were hurt, or saved those that were in trouble. She wanted to explore areas that were new and un-chartered, and now that she didn't have to worry about her children as much, she wanted to do it, with our family.

"If you're sure about this, we'd be honored to have you with us," I told her. I pulled out the master ball and showed it to her. "Do you mind if I just quickly capture you and then let you back out? If I do this, Team Rocket can't capture you with any kind of pokeballs they have." The articuno shook her head and leaned her head forward to the master ball. It tapped her on the side of her beak and in she went in a red beam of light. The ball shook a couple times quickly before it glowed and the light reflected off the entire room and out the windows. I had to shield my eyes from the glow until it died down and I looked at the pokeball. It had become snow white in color, looking just like a pokeball made of snow, yet it only felt a bit cool to the touch, not icy cold like I expected it to be. When the light hit it just right, it shimmered and glowed in a rainbow of colors as the light hit each individual snow crystal. Around the center of it where the pokeball split into two pieces, there was a thick line of light blue colored ice that finished its decoration.

It was the most beautiful pokeball I'd ever seen.

I tossed it lightly up into the air and out came my articuno, my newest sister. She smiled down at me when she fully materialized from her ball and nodded her head.

"Do you mind if I give you a nickname Articuno?" I questioned her. "I've given one to all my other pokemon and I was wondering if I could do so for you as well." The articuno simply shrugged her shoulders. She didn't care. "Cool, let me think of one… got it." Everyone blinked in surprise at me for my quickness at making up a name, I normally needed more time to do that, but I'd had a nickname for my articuno in my head for a while, since I first me her.

"Well then what's the name honey?" my mother asked. "And I'm shocked you took such a short a mount of time to come up with a name for her."

"I've had practice." I shrugged. I turned back to my ice and flying type. "And I already had her name in mind when I first met her and I saw the color of her wings. They were the most beautiful sapphire color with a radiant shimmering sparkle that carried with it when the sun hits it just right, like when the sun hits an icicle. So, if she approves, I was hoping that the name Sapphire, since it seems to fit you pretty well." I let my hands grab my elbows behind my back and I swayed on my feet. "What'cha think, Sapphire?"

The articuno seemed pretty please with the name and nodded to me. I turned back to my mother with a smile and gestured at Sapphire. "Meet the last pokemon on my battling team Mom, Sapphire, the articuno."

"Kaa!
