Pokѐmon Journey I: Violet's Trial

Chapter 20: To the Tri-Islands

Violet's Point of View:

I groaned as I felt the light from the morning sun hit my face and instantly woke me up. I stretched and looked around; it was the sunlight from dawn that woke me. Damn, Vince didn't close the blinds all the way when he went to bed...

I hissed, and sat up. I'd healed my pokemon with the machine; they had to heal them at the front of the ship with the help of the traveling Nurse Joy, so my pokemon were all healed and ready to tackle anything today (except probably waking up at this hour.)

I sighed and looked around. I could hear my brother's snoring from the other side of the room on the top bunk that he had over Alex's bed, which was surprisingly empty. I sat up in my bed and found to my surprise that out of all my six pokemon that were out to sleep next to me, Chalcedony wasn't there. It shocked me and I suddenly gasped, the only idea that came to mind that mixed Chalcedony and Alex was a fight, and that was not a good thing.

I hurried out of my bed and pushed open the door, not concerned for anyone hearing me so long as the two males didn't try and kill each other. I rounded a corner, and I was shocked to see that the two of them were hanging out at the front of the ship; Alex leaned against the railing with his eyes settled on my eevee, while Chalcedony's back was to me. I was surprised to see that, normally the two of them would be in a heated battle by now ready to pulled out each other's throats and what not. Never the less, I kept back where I was and watched the two of them interact from behind the wall that I managed to find and concealed myself behind while I listened in.

"So what exactly did you want to talk to me about out here? It's not like you to want to talk to me, let alone be on civil terms." Alex held his gaze out to the sea with his arms crossed. The situation was new and confusing to him; he was so used to getting a shadow ball in the face or a bite or scratch mark on his limbs that this must have been very out of the blue.

If I was in his place, I'd be shocked too.

"Ee… eevee ee eve eevee ee." Chalcedony sighed. "…Eevee ee."

"You're sorry?" Alex questioned him in a disbelieving tone, turning back to look at him. Now Chalcedony couldn't look him in the eye.

My normal type nodded. "Eve…ee… eevee eve ee."

"You what?" Alex's eyes went wide before he hissed out and clenched his fist. "You told her I liked her?" He clenched his fist before it flew, faster than I could see, and hit the metal railing to the ship. Alex had to contain himself from shouting out and howling at the pain, but he kept it all in with a shaky hand and he lowered himself onto the surface of the deck, his back against the rails with no damage to them. "I know you hate me, but do you really hate me that much?" A sudden through crossed his mind before he glared at my pokemon again. "When did you tell her?"

"…Eevee ee… evee ee"

"…That's why she wanted to leave, wasn't it?" I saw Alex sigh heavily as if he had a few worlds on his shoulders. "Damn, I never wanted to hurt her… I tried to keep it to myself…"

"Ee… eevee ee." For once I saw my normal type wasn't hostile toward Alex and gently rubbed his soft fur against him in comfort. Tears rolled down from his eyes and I stood there in worry.

It really troubled him this much? He liked me so much that it caused him pain? I watched him with worried-ness and disbelief in my eyes. I can't believe I never noticed until after Chalcedony told me… wait, why didn't he say anything? I now know that there were signs to prove his liking to me, but why didn't he ever confess? Why did he leave me in the dark?

"Hell, even Vince stayed quiet…" Alex sobbed into his arms. "I didn't even get the chance to tell her that for myself, nor did she even get the chance to figure it out… Why does everyone hate me?"

I couldn't stand it any longer. "I don't hate you." Their heads raced up to meet mine as I looked over at the two worriedly, and they shockingly did back. I hurried over to them and lowered myself on my knees before Alex, whipping away his tears with my fingers. He did nothing to stop me, but the tears continued to roll, and even a couple of my own fell that I raced to dry up. "I never hated you, Alex."

"Everyone else seems to." He snorted angrily and turned his head away from me.

I turned to my normal type. "Chalcedony, could you leave Alex and me for a bit, I need to talk to him, alone." My pokemon blinked but nodded at me none the less and he took off to where our cabins had been. I pulled my hands back into my lap and watched them. "…Why didn't you tell me?"

"How exactly was I supposed to do that?" Alex snapped and I flinched at his words. He saw that and sighed. "Sorry, I'm just… irritated with how this turned out. I wanted it to be so much different. I was waiting… until all this drama was over before I would even dare say anything."

I lowered my head. "You mean like with my Mom and Team Rocket?"

"And your Dad, too," Alex threw in, "I wanted to wait for most of the drama to be over so you could think more clearly and not worry about other things. I didn't want this kind of thing to get in your way of doing what you loved and helping others. I didn't want to get in your way…"

"You never did and couldn't if you tried." I sighed shakily and sat myself against the side of the ship with my head leaned down on his shoulder and I felt his shoulder stiffen. "I'm gonna be honest Alex, I'm not sure how I feel right now about you, but I know… something's changed, and whether it's for better or worse yet, I don't know. Is there any way you could give me some more time to figure this out? I think I can do it, even with all this drama-"

"It doesn't matter how long you need Violet, and even if you choose no, I'll still be right here with you, right by your side for better or worse." I heard and felt the bump from his snorting. "But it seems we've seen a lot of worse right from the get go, Rose, Team Rocket, fighting between ourselves, your mother, your father, and fighting between us…"

"I'll try to keep that to a minimum if I can." I giggled lightly before I cuddled into his shoulder and gently grabbed his arm that I was against. "Do you mind if I sleep Alex? I'm still tired and Vince left the damn blinds open and it got me up with the glare…"

"Go right ahead Violet, I'm not going anywhere." His voice sounded calmer now, more relaxed. It made going back to sleep easier than I thought, and the next thing I knew, I was out of it.

When I next woke, I was shocked to actually see that Alex had kept his promise and hadn't moved from my side, along with the fact that we weren't alone out front any longer. Many others from Cinnabar or other locations that were on this boat to the islands were out front and gawking at Alex and I, awing at the fact that we were sleeping next to each other and cuddled so close. I blushed from the embarrassment and shook Alex, who groaned.

"Alex, get up!" I whispered to him nervously. "People are staring at us."

He finally stirred enough to notice the looks of many people around and a bright tint of red covered his face as well. He grabbed my hand and jumped to his feet and pulled me to mine before rushing us back toward where our cabin was, pushing through the crowd of people that got in our way.

Upon reaching our cabin where my pokemon would have remained until I came back, I saw that Vince was now up and blinked at us as we came in through the door. I saw where his eyes trailed and saw my hand was still attached to Alex's. I blushed harder and pulled my hand from his grasp before I hurried over to my pokemon that huddled over in the corner around and on my bed.

"Uh… morning?" Vince greeted, confusion laced in his voice upon our sudden entrance to the room and our behavior.

"Morning Vince," I replied to him, trying to settle down my harshly beating heart. "Are Luke and Bill up yet? Do you know when we should hit One Isle?"

"Yeah, the two of them are up, have been for about an hour or two now. And I think we're gonna get to the island in about an hour or so, if not sooner. I've kinda just been in and out of sleep so I'm not too sure. I only got up a few minutes ago." He rubbed the back of his head nervously. "Did something… happen?"

"Violet and I fell asleep on the front deck after getting some fresh air this morning, to say were surprised when we woke up and saw many others that were on the boat looking at us would be an understatement." Alex sighed and rubbed his tired eyes. "I don't think I got much of any sleep until this morning when we were out there."

"Maybe you just needed the fresh air?" My brother shrugged at him. "I mean, it is a bit stuffy in here."

"Well, I don't know about you boys, but I think I'm going to go find Bill and Luke and find out some stuff from them. You're welcome to come if you want." I returned my larger pokemon to their pokeballs and my smaller pokemon jumped onto my shoulders and into my arms while Amber stood at my feet.

"I'll go with you." Alex followed after me to the door, a light touch of his fingers just barely graced my arm and I felt my heart speed up again. He pulled back his hand in response and I looked over at my brother.

"I think I'll stay here, I'm still a bit tired and I think I might just fall asleep on you." My brother yawned and fell over into his bed. "Wake me up when we have to get off the ship…"

I sighed. Leave it to him… "Alright Vince, we'll come back for you in a bit then." I opened the door and headed outside with Alex right behind me and Amber eagerly followed me out.

As we walked down the hallways on the ship, I felt Chalcedony spread himself out on my back shoulder, using the hood from Alex's jacket to keep him from falling. He cuddled himself right into that and fell back asleep while Zircon was eagerly squirming in my arms to move around. Eventually, I set him down and he crawled about on the ship ahead of us by a few feet with Amber in tow, and keeping a good eye on the youngest and most naive of our group.

I suddenly gasped and my body went rigid when I felt Alex's hand accidentally brush against my own. All these emotions, they were starting to come down on me again, they felt nice… but it was hard to think, to concentrate except on what it was that stimulated it. I was able to keep walking and stay on my path, but my focus was on the small spot of pressure and warmth that I felt from his hand at the action that took place.

I shook my head and tried to clear my head. I could think about these things later. I looked out over the horizon and watched as the water seemed to go on for so many miles that it'd never reach land again, nor could I see it behind us. It beautiful and nerve wrecking all at the same time…

Suddenly I saw a large chuck of brown, and then I saw some green and then other colors seemed to follow it. I blinked and rubbed my eyes to make sure they weren't playing tricks on me and suddenly I saw them become larger up on our side.

"Alex, look!" My best friend turned his head and looked off on the horizon as we came closer to land and I heard him chuckle before his hand landed on my shoulder again.

"We must be coming into port; we better hurry and get the others." I nodded and he sprinted off ahead of me while I hurried backward toward our room to get Vince up.

"So where exactly are we going?" I questioned once we get off the boat.

"Well, I for one would like something to eat." Luke mumbled as he held his stomach. "So I suggest the pokemon center."

"That's exactly where we're heading first anyway." Bill explained. "I have a friend that lives on this island that asked for my help with his invention of a larger machine for our video telephones to connect worldwide. I thought you guys could explore the islands and get some more training in before your final battle over in Viridian and a chance to get a break from the cold weather back home, even if the tropical storms off over the other islands brings a bit of a cold draft through the towns."

What felt like normal Kanto weather to us, right now was probably one of the coldest days for people who live on these naturally warm islands. I could feel the harsher breeze and I was thankful that I had warmer clothes for it. The boys seemed to be fine for the most part, but would really want jackets once they got home. The area of One Isle seemed serene and peaceful, much like our home town of Pallet that was spread out and did not contain much of larger buildings or companies. Beach like houses covered the island city, thought they were spread out to give everyone some space and to not disturb the pokemons' environment too much either. Beaches were spread out everywhere along the islands' edges, forests and mountainous roads carried to the north while a cove was to the south.

"Who exactly is your friend, Bill?" I questioned as he led us up to the pokemon center on the island.

"His name is Celio Markque, he's another pokemon maniac like myself." Bill replied. "He should be meeting us at the front door-"

"BILL!" The next thing we knew, Bill was jumped onto by a smaller man with blond hair that in his rush to latch onto the man that was talking to us, sent them both tumbling onto the ground. I blinked a few times at the scene before my brother started laughing and the rest of us soon carried into it as well. The young man looked up at us with curious eyes that were a light brown while his ice blond hair slightly fell before his eyes. A button up shirt was on him with a thin pale blue jacket over it and tan dress pants, sneakers and pale white skin. Glasses sat on his nose that fell down slightly while he looked at us, me in particular, and stared at us in awe.

"Celio," Bill sighed and gently pushed the man off him. "These are my friends that I told you about from Kanto; the blond is Luke, the agent for the markets." Luke gave him a gin and held out his hand to Celio to take. He did so and Luke dragged him to his feet and then shook his hand roughly before Celio had to let go and fell into Bill's arms that steadied him. "The ginger bronze is Alexander Oak, the brown haired guy is Vincent Vilmos, and the girl, finally, is our savior from Pallet, Violet Vilmos."

"Whoa…" The young man gasped in awe before he raced at all of us, ready to shake our hands and meet us. "It's so incredible to meet all of you! You guys are like, legendary in this region! Just as much as the evil people you're trying to stop and the Elite Four!"

"We do try to please as best we can." I grinned at him. "Though if you don't mind, we're a bit famished from our trip."

"Oh my Mew, of course!" He stepped away from us and led us toward the pokemon center. "Step right in! I'll even pay for everything you want!"

"Everything?" My brother questioned hungrily. I swatted over the head and he hissed in pain at me.

"As generous as the offer is, we have our own money, so doesn't concern you. Besides, Vince would have a field day if we allowed him to spend all your money on food to pig out." Luke told the young man and headed up the steps to the pokmone center. "Now I'm getting something to eat before I wither away to nothing." "Order fifteen meals for pokemon too!" I called up to him. "We'll order in a minute." I turned to the others. "Now let's go, I'm starved!"

HalloweenWitchHalloweenWitch

After a wonderful breakfast that included many different items that we tended to share between each other to get a bite of everything, we were filled to the brim and were content without bellies filled. Even all our pokemon were lying about, perfectly content to go and take a nap while others wanted to get out and battle. Hell, even Amber, the least active of my pokemon in battles unless it's against Team Rocket, wanted to have a piece of action (even if the last gym battle she faced off in was against her Dad back in the early summer while it was nearly winter now.)

My brother let out a sigh of satisfaction. "Now that's much better… I'm glad I got to eat, I think I might last until lunch now." I rolled my eyes and my forehead met the palm of my hand.

"Idiot." Alex stated with a cup of tea in his hands to warm him up a bit more. Chalcedony, who'd finished his meal earlier on and had come back up to my shoulder to rest again, nodded sadly at Alex's single word description of my brother before he laid back down on the back of my neck in my hood.

"Hey!"

"I agree with them, you really need to shut your trap, some of us have a headache." For some strange reason, my head had been pounding since we arrived on the island, I felt a depressing feeling in my gut, the feeling I only had when Team Rocket was involved in something. The feeling wouldn't leave, but we had no leads to investigate, plus there was no Team Rocket out here, at least, as far as we knew.

"Are you okay then Violet? I have some medication for pain relief if you'd like some." Celio started to dig through his bag before I chuckled through a sigh.

"Don't worry about it Celio, happens from time to time. I already took something; it should take effect soon, but thanks for the offer. If I didn't have any, I probably would have taken some; I hate that dull aching in the back of my head, hurts like hell."

"So what exactly were the problems you were facing with the multi-regional mother computer?" Bill questioned his friend and took the attention off myself, which I was very thankful for.

"Well, I had some problems with lining up the signals from each of the regions, then to make things worse, some of the parts either aren't fitting into place or are too large or small, the task is starting to get a bit out of hand for myself alone." Celio nervously rubbed the back of his head. "I didn't know who else to turn to…"

Bill smiled at him. "Don't worry about it Celio, it's probably not a big problem, and you might just have skipped over it by accident or switch the parts around, we can spend a few days looking it over and my friends can look about the islands."

"That's wonderful!" Celio said. "I hope you guys have a great time! There's a lot to see, even on just the first three islands…-awe tauros shit!" We all blinked at his sudden swear and looked at each other before we looked back at him.

"Is something wrong?" Alex questioned, his eyebrow raised slightly.

"I forgot! I promised my friend that runs the game corner over one Two Isle that I'd deliver him a meteorite I'd found!" Celio ran a hand through his hair. "He probably thinks I forgot by now…"

"We'll take it for you." I told him kindly. Celio looked up in shock. "I mean, we wanted to head over there anyway since there's this old man we wanted to meet and learn about these ancient moves and see if our pokemon could learn them, we could stop at your friends on the way and hand him the meteorite. We can check out Mt. Ember after we get back, like tomorrow or so."

"Really?" Celio's eyes gleamed up like it'd just turned to Christmas day overnight.

"Yeah, you've been nothing but a sweet guy to us, so I don't see why we shouldn't do the same." I stretched in my seat and cracked my neck. "Besides, I wanna get going soon, I'm not one to sit around in one place to long."

"Oh thank you Violet!" Celio cheered and leapt from his seat. "I'll go grab it right now! Bill, I'll meet you in the computer room in a bit!" Once Celio's feet hit the ground, he was gone in a flash; I had to blink to see if I saw it right.

"He's certainly got a lot of energy." Alex commented.

Bill sighed and rubbed the back of his head. "Celio's always been like that. It takes a while to get used to his energy, but you soon accustom yourself to it."

I took the last sip of my orange juice and slipped out of my seat and gathered up my pokemon from around the room. Alex and Vince followed my lead and soon gathered up their pokemon too, and then even Luke followed and stood.

"Well, I've got some stores to look through, so I'll see you later, the only stores here on these three islands are on Two and Three Isle. I'm gonna catch a quick boat over there and meet up with you guys later." Luke waved his good-bye to us and took off out the door. Bill gathered up our plates and put them in a couple piles to make it easier on the waitress and set our money all together in a pile with the few separate checks we had.

"And I'll be heading over to that computer room. I'll see you guys when you come back in a day or so, this might take me at least a day to three days to help Celio fix depending on how troubling the problem is." Bill walked into the back and into some sort of darker room from the other side where the pokemon center had been. Celio then hurried back in the next second with a large rock in his arms all wrapped up in bubble wrap.

"Sorry about the wait, I wanted to make sure it'd make the journey safely." He handed me the rock while he breathed deeply to catch his breath. "My friend, Leo, lives on the east side of the town in a large building that he'd turned into a game corner of sorts that involves the use of you pokemon. His brother helps him out there and he has a daughter named Lostelle. It should be pretty easy to find them; they have advertising all over the three islands.

"Thanks for the tip Celio; we'll head over there now. Is it a long boat ride over there? I don't think my pokemon are quite ready yet for any flying."

"No more than about ten minutes max," he replied. I put the rock in my bag with all my other items and made sure it didn't crush anything or get crushed.

"We'll see you later then, good luck with your machine!" The three of us waved off to him and hurried out to the docks. We quickly grabbed a boat that was headed for Two Isle and showed our passes to them before we climbed aboard. We found a bench to sit on toward the exit on the boat and I sat between the two boys with Zircon and Amber in my lap and Chalcedony still in my hood. I relaxed then and took a deep breath as we quickly pulled away from the island.

HalloweenWitchHalloweenWitch

Just as Celio had told us, the boat ride took only a few minutes to get over to the second island, which was much smaller in comparison. A small town was situated at the bottom of a waterfall that filled a natural spring and I could see a single house at the top of the smaller mountain that the waterfall emerged from.

We headed east and followed the largely colorful red and purple signs that led us to a colorful building of red, purple, yellow and green, along with the images of certain pokemon on it. We opened the door (after we saw that it said open) and watched as a man, in his early thirties or so, paced back and forth across the floor. He gave us a quick glimpse before he continued his pacing, then suddenly stopped and fell to his feet, crying his eyes out like a child. I raised my eyebrow at the scene and looked at both the boys. Both of them could only stare and shrug at me.

"Hello? Are you a customer?" I looked over to see a slightly younger man in his late twenties that looked bored and worried.

"Um, not really, but we came here to deliver a meteorite for Leo, the owner, from Celio over on One Isle. Our friend is a friend of his so we volunteered to do it since we were traveling over the islands anyway." I explained to him and carefully made my way around the bawling man and pulled out the rock. "I'm guessing your Leo's younger brother then?"

He nodded. "The name's Donny, sorry about my older brother." He looked over to him and sighed. "His daughter went off on her own again and every time she does, it freaks him out. We haven't seen her for a few hours now, but she normally comes back alright, a few scratches from bushes and trees at the worse." He took the rock in and suddenly it appeared an idea came over him. "Hey, since you guys are exploring the islands anyway, could you look for Lostelle?"

"Uh… sure." I shrugged. "Three sets of eyes or more are better the one, and we can leave the store while you guys can't."

"Thanks, and sorry to drop that on you suddenly, but I'm getting sick and tired of hearing him cry like a fucken baby every time she goes out on her own, I mean, she's nearly nine now as it is, she's got a lot more independence then her father does and took over many of her mother's jobs, I don't understand why he's freaking out so much when she always come back safe and sound…"

"Don't worry about it; we'll be glad to help," Alex told him. "So where does she normally head out to?"

"Well, her two favorite spots tend to be the top of the waterfall on this island; she's friends with the old man and his pokemon up there. Her other spot is the berry forest on Three Isle where she gather's berries and meets up with some pokemon she's made friends with. I'd start with that."

"Okay, cool, we'll bring back your little niece." Vince grinned and him and folded his arms behind his head. "We'll have her back as soon as possible."

"Thanks again, next to the building is a path that leads up the mountain, though you might have better luck getting up there faster if you have a flying pokemon."

"Oh, we do, so I'm not worried." I pulled out Amethyst's pokeball and we hurried outside to the base of the path the man told us about. I threw out her ball and out came my fire type, grinning at the challenge ahead of her. I climbed onto her back first and then so did the boys along with my two smaller pokemon that weren't riding in my hood.

Amethysts took off into the air and sped to the top.

HalloweenWitchHalloweenWitch

We arrived at the top with little time spent on our journey. Amethyst landed us next to the edge of the waterfall where the mist rose from it as it fell to the pit below and the town. The boys and I took a look around at the bare area that was filled with flowers around the spring the water came from and the house that overlooked everything.

I suddenly heard something over to the side, and watched as an older man of his fifties or so, with dark hair pulled back into a long pony tail and a set of shorts, looked at us. His eyes were cold as they looked us over and finally settled on my fire type pokemon that was still out with me.

The man suddenly gasped and I watched him look back and forth between her and the three of us before he centered in on me. He grinned and stepped before me.

"This is your charizard, isn't it young lady?" I could only nod at his question and his grin enlarged. "Your bond between each other is so strong… ah! And those boys have one too with their pokemon! Please! Tell me the name of your starting pokemon's breed."

"Uh, I got a venasaur," Vince told him nervously.

"I have a blastoise," Alex replied skeptically.

"Splendid!" He leapt back and I slightly hid myself behind Amethyst from his weirdness. "Come, come! I have much to teach you! Your bonds are so strong it will take no time at all!"

"Teach us?" I questioned him. "Wait, then that means you're the legendary move tutor on this island that knows of the ancient moves!"

"That would be me!" He grinned. "Now tell me, have any of you seen something happen to your pokemon or seen ability or attack of theirs that has no name or no way to know what it is or understand it?"

"What?" my brother asked with his eyebrows raised.

"Not really." Alex shrugged.

"I have." The man instantly settled his gaze on me. "A few times… Amethyst, my charizard, has used her rage attack and took in my own rage to power her up and then when she tries to use any type of fire move, white fire that glows come from her mouth and it nearly annihilates everything in its path."

"Muki!" The man jumped into the air and freaked me that I screamed. "You already know the ancient move then, just not its name!" He pointed his finger at me. "I believe your charizard must suffer from extreme fatigue after its unknown move takes place, yes?"

"Yeah…"

"That is due to the fact that it is not complete!" He then looked over at my charizard. "You, my beauty, have suffered enough; it is time you know your most powerful move." He looked back over to me. "To complete this training, you must find out its name. You will discover it while protecting the innocent from what they fear most at the time." He then waved his hand at me. "Now go, I must work with these boys to help them find their most powerful moves; you will find the little girl known as Lostelle on Three Isle in the berry forest. She hides there while bikers have taken over the island. Help them and her, and you will find the move you desire."

Without another word, he took the arms of the boys and dragged them off. I blinked as I watched them get taken to the area that the old man was taking them toward, and Alex dared to look back at me. He gave me a smile and mouthed for me to go. I relaxed and nodded to him before I grabbed onto Amethyst and she took off into the sky.

We headed toward Three Isle in the day light.

Witch's Note:

Ah! A short chapter! It hurts my eyes! Make it stop! T-T

Oh who am I kidding; it was a nice change to have a short chapter for once instead of something that was nearly twelve pages longer then this. Oh well, the next couple chapters are supposed to be shorter as well, but we'll probably get back into our longer vibes soon, so don't freak out on me people, okay?

Okay! So please send in Reviews and Questions that you know I love so much! And what is the name of the ultimate move for Amethyst? Do you know? It's a real one so you have something to go on!

Alright, so I'll see you all next week you guys, love you all!
