Pokѐmon Journey I: Violet's Trial
Chapter 22: Lord of Mt. Ember
Violet's Point of View:
I hissed as I looked over at the grunt who smirked at us, "And who says that we're not going to try?"
"You can't get to the island by boat. We've shut them all down, even if you did get your hands on one." The grunt chuckled, "How else could you make it to the island?"
"You forget that I have three flying pokemon," I crossed my arms while the grunt paled. "Or we could use the boat you came in."
"You'd be caught immediately!" he snapped back.
I grinned at him. "Not if we're disguised that is." My fist flew forward at him before he could even move.

"Do we really have to wear these stupid suits?" My brother complained as we changed on the boat while heading back over to One Isle.
"Would you rather get stuck at the beginning or be able to sneak right through?" I questioned him. "Besides, I've kinda wanted to do this for a while just to see the look on Rose's face when we've snuck into and throughout her operation."
"And it's not that bad, we'll only be wearing these for a little while, besides, we need to make sure the people on One Isle are safe." Alex noted as he got his hat on to cover his spiky hair, "And we'd better pack up our hair, it'd be a giveaway for Rose and some of the other grunts if they've battle us a time or two. I'll help you with yours, Vi."
"Thanks, Alex." I struggled to get comfortable in the girl's uniform from Team Rocket. While I was interested in going under cover and getting Rose all mad, I wasn't exactly looking forward to the girl's outfit, which its skirt was pretty high compared to what I was used to. The suit I was wearing was tight and it was a bit hard to breathe, but I did my best to live with it.
I could feel Alex playing around with my hair as he tried to get it all into my hat. It didn't take him long to do so, he seem to really know what he was doing, and that honestly surprised me. When he was done, he handed me a pocket mirror he'd found within some of the items that were on the ship and I looked over myself. "Not a bad job, Alex. You even have a few strands to cover my eyes and face if someone starts looking. How'd you get so good at that?"
"… Daisy made me." He muttered. My brother burst out laughing and I chuckled a bit.
"Dude! Your sister made you learn how to work with hair?" Vince couldn't stop his laughter and fell onto the deck releasing his hat and hair in the process.
"Shut it!" Alex hissed back at him, clenching his fist.
"I think it's a good thing." Both boys froze and looked over at me.
"Yeah, cuz you a girl, you would ask that of him." Vince laughed and I kicked him right where it hurt the most. He scrunched up and curled his body together in pain and tears leaked through his eyes.
"The same thing can be said for your doll collection, Vince." I crossed my arms and gave him my most murderous set of eyes.
"It's not a doll collection!" He seethed through the pain. "Their action figures!"
"Including the bulbasuar plush you have?" I fired back at him. The colored drained form his face and Alex gapped at him.
Alex soon snickered and chuckled before a full blow laugh escaped him. "You have a plush?" Alex fell over laughing onto the seat of the small ship and had to hold onto his hat in order not to lose it from the wind.
"You promised you wouldn't say anything!" Vince nearly sobbed at me while he crossed his arms.
"I don't remember making any such promise." I sneered at him.
"Hey, you guys, as much as I love what's going on, we're here." Vince and I turned to see that Alex was talking about One Isle and we both made ourselves presentable on the boat.
"What are you gonna do about your arm, Sis?" My brother whispered in my ear as we approached.
"I'll have to bear though the pain and hope they don't ask me to lift anything. Any of you have pain meds to help me out?"
"Open." Alex had them already in his hand next to me. I obediently opened my mouth and he threw them in. I swallowed them quickly and hopped that they'd kick in soon.
It was strange to not have my pokemon surround me as I walked about like they were used to, but for us to succeed in saving everyone; they needed to be out of sight for the time being until we were able to get to a certain point.
Our boat quickly pulled into the port and Rocket grunts stood there to make sure we were the only ones on board. As soon as they saw it was only the three of us in the tiny boat, they cleared us and allowed us through onto the island. We gave them a swift nod before moved on and headed toward the pokemon center, where I saw many people from the island were herded inside of, making it pretty cramped.
"Hey you!" I turned my head to face a Rocket grunt that was running toward us. "Where's Kid, Joe, and Sally?"
Thank Mew I'd already thought about this. "Those guys that headed out to Two Isle?"
"Yeah," he nodded to us. "You heard from them? I saw you just come from the docks."
"Yeah, they just radioed in a little while back. They're taking out all the boats over there and plan to do the same to Three Isle and listen in for any info on Violet Vilmos and her two companions."
"Alright then! An operation that'll actually go right!" He grinned, pumping his fist in the air. "You better go report to the head grunt here right now; he's over with the clipboard over in front of pokemon center." I nodded to him and headed over to the center where many children I saw worriedly look out the windows as the three of us approached.
"So you guys just pulled in huh?" The head grunt here in town questioned as we walked toward him. "Where'd you come from?
"Two Isle, we disabled most of the boats over on the island and three grunts remained behind to take care of the rest and the ones on Three Isle," Alex informed him, "They should be back within the hour, they checked in with us before they went out of contacting reach for our small boat to handle."
"I see… any news on Violet Vilmos, Vincent Vilmos or Alexander Oak?"
"We saw the two boys heading toward Three Isle, where we overhead them saying Violet Vilmos was," Vince told him. "We overhead them talking about that bitch was going to save a girl that got lost up in the Berry Forest."
The grunt snorted. "Sounds like that daring goodie alright." He wrote a few things down on his clipboard. "You three better head up to the mountain then-"
"Is there any way at all I could head inside for a moment." I gave him an evil grin that even if he knew it was me, he wouldn't have recognized me. "I wanna make their lives hell…"
"I don't know about that, the boss lady didn't want any fooling around, it's what could get Violet to slip onto the island."
You did that without fooling around. "I know, but it'll just be five minutes max! I wanna scare 'em…"
The grunt sighed at me. "Alright, but be quick about it, and you better take those guys with you, those people may attack and hold you hostage, and we won't come in to save you."
I grinned madly. "Understood."
The door opened and the boys and I quickly made our way inside, but I knew there were cameras around, they gleamed when the lights hit them just right. We were glared at the second we walked inside by the man islanders that were in here, as well as Bill and Celio.
And that's exactly who I was looking for.
I had to keep up our act as members though if I wanted to still get up to the mountain alright. "Eny, miny, miney, moe; who will be my victim?" My gaze landed on Bill and Celio and I grinned. "Why not one of you two?"
"Leave us alone!" Celio shouted and held onto Bill's shirt. "We didn't do anything to you."
"Why should that matter?" He sniveled at me. "I don't give a damn what you want."
"You leave him alone, if you want to hurt someone then let it be me." Bill stood up before Celio and I looked at him in a bored like manor before I snorted a laugh.
"If you insist." I bolted at him in the next second punched him in the nose before I pushed him up against the wall with my good arm.
"I'm so sorry, Bill, please forgive me." I put two of my pokeballs into his pocket and threw him back into the wall while he stared at me with wide eyes. I let mine go hard once more and I snorted at him. "Not even worth my time, let's go boys, we have an island to take over."
"Yes ma'am!" They both shouted and followed after me as we headed back outside to where the head grunt was still standing guard. I snorted angrily and crossed my arms.
"They're all wimps in there." I turned to look at the head Rocket here. "Hey, does the boss lady need more hands up at the volcano? I need something a little more exciting to do."
"As long as you guys don't fool around or play hookie somewhere or have sex on the job, I don't see why not." The guy told me with a sigh. He pointed up the path past the town. "Sentries are placed throughout the ridge, just ask them how to get to the mountain if you can't find the right path or get lost. Better hurry though, or someone else might get the chance to see Moltres before you do." The three of us nodded and started to head down toward the Kindle Road, the path that led to Mt. Ember.
"I hope Bill doesn't hate me." I sighed quietly as we made our way up the pass. "I didn't want to hurt him, but I had to play the part."
"There was nothing you coulda done Sis, I'm sure he'll understand," Vince whispered to me.
"Especially since you left him a powerful set of pokemon to help him out. By the way, which ones did you leave him?" Alex questioned.
"Ones with a temper," I replied to him.
"All your pokemon have a temper."
"Okay, then the worst two."
"Oh tauros shit, Team Rocket won't know what hit 'em…"
Bill's Point of View:
It was her, she came for us. I should have never doubted that she wouldn't. I reached into my pocket and pulled out the two pokeballs she left for me. One was a luxury ball while the other was a safari ball. I knew not of which ones she'd given me other than an idea of which one was in the safari ball, and I was praying that I was right.
"Bill, are you alright?" Celio questioned me worriedly. He ripped off the bottom corner of his shirt and used it to clean up the blood that dripped down my face.
"I'll get the first aid kit." Nurse Joy said, hurrying off into another room. She returned no more than a few seconds later with a small box in her hands that she used to see how bad off my nose had been. "It seems your nose is just bruised, thankfully not broken."
"Then that really proves it." I stood up and away from their work and pulled out the two pokeballs she'd given me and enlarged them. "Come on out!"
A bright light shown from the two pokeballs. It seemed that Violet had given me a good pair to work with. I saw one of them was flying type while another was close to the ground. I soon heard the buzzing of a set of wings and watched as Ruby appeared before me and Chalcedony was the other. The two of them growled before they took off for the doors and destroyed it with a shadow ball and a fury cutter. Everyone gasped and watched the extremely temperamental pokemon on Violet's team. They're eyes were filled with rage as I watched them go after the Team Rocket members outside. I heard their cries for help and of pain.
Most of the entire town's people, myself, and Celio hurried over to the door. We watched the two pokemon on their path of destruction toward the criminal organization. Chalcedony either blew faces off with his shadow ball attack, bit people's limbs or buried large groups of them in the ground, making it hard and almost impossible for them to crawl out. Ruby was slicing away at everything that was moving and that was all black or had a giant red 'R' on it. They're eyes were nearly glowing red in anger, they were really pissed.
"Whoa… when did Violet give you her pokemon?" Celio asked me, his eyes were enlarged and still shocked from the recent events all unfolding.
"When she punched me," I told him, gently wiping away the blood on my face.
"But she never was-" Celio almost pressed on with his accusation, but stopped when he realized it. "Violet was that Team Rocket girl! In disguise!"
"And I'm more than willing to bet that Alex and Vince were the two male Rocket members with her. Violet apologized for hitting me and put her pokemon in my pocket before she headed out. She didn't mean a thing she said, she was only saying that to get by Team Rocket's defenses and get to the mountain without any problems."
"She is so awesome!" Celio cheered. He suddenly blinked and looked back over to the battlefield that was between Ruby and Chalcedony and the Rockets still remaining. "Wait, how do we get the two of them to stop?"
"Uh… I have no idea." I rubbed the back of my head nervously as we watched the two violent and temperamental pokemon of Violet's destroying anything or anyone that belonged to Team Rocket.
"It looks like she purposely gave you her most temperamental pokemon, the ones who would lose their temper first at the given time." Nurse Joy noted as she stepped up beside us. "I believe she planned this."
"Why? They're not only going to destroy all of Team Rocket in town, but the town along with it!" someone snapped.
"Violet is not that careless, nor is her pokemon; my sisters, cousins and I all know that very well." Nurse Joy hissed back at whoever said what they had a moment before. "I believe Violet did this to throw their operation into chaos and to cut off communication between the mountain and the main land where the boss of Team Rocket is. It's too far out for him to send other members to help and it's too risky for the ones here to try and escape in the open waters where they could be found."
"So what should we do?" Celio asked softly as to not face the woman's wrath.
"We wait," the nurse replied simply. "It looks like Violet has already given her pokemon their orders; you can see them starting to head out of town while still on their rampage." True to her word, as we looked over to the edge of town, we saw the two pokemon heading further and further away and up the pass, the same way Violet had gone with Vince and Alex.
"What should I do with their pokeballs then?" I held the two items out before myself and looked them over again.
"Hold onto them until she retrieves them." Nurse Joy sighed and walked back inside. "I'm going to contact the police in Kanto, and request they bring in a well-guarded ship."
Violet's Point of View:
We'd easily made it up to the island's mountain and were just about to hit the check point when we heard a blast and saw a battle taking place back in the town. Alex and Vince herded me into a hole in the walls on the mountain as we watched a large group of Team Rocket members raced by where we hid.
"Looks like Chalcedony and Ruby are having a blast." My brother snickered quietly.
"And we've made it up the mountain." I sighed, "We need to find Rose, she's gonna be wherever Moltres is. With all the people heading down the mountain to stop 'us', we should head up the mountain, I'm more than willing to guess that Moltres would live up on the top or near it where it had access to leave whenever it wished and return to the exact same spot and keep warm."
"And we'd better hurry, those two monster pokemon of yours that you left behind are moving up the mountain path faster than we thought, Rose'll find out were here soon if we don't hurry," Alex muttered.
"What about over here?" Vince pointed to a rock that he was able to push to the side and a small path was opened that he stuck his head inside to look. "I can see light on the other side of this; we might be able to move up on a blind side of the mountain through paths like this until we make it past most of the other members."
"Good, lead the way Vince." He nodded and quickly pulled himself up into the tunnel and I climbed in after him. I hissed lightly as I felt the hot rocks hit the skin on my legs and knees from the short skirt I had to wear. Thankfully, the entire island was hissing with me, so my replies to my pain were drowned out by others.
Vince came out of the other side rather quickly and pulled me when I got to the other side. He saw the burns on my legs and reached to grab his water container in his bag, and the realized that it wasn't here. He growled and pulled out a pokeball and checked all around for anyone before he released it, letting out a large blue pokemon with a shell that covered most of its back. It had four flippers and was low to the ground, but its long neck made up for that. It had large beady eyes that reminded me of Zircon.
I pulled out my pokedex from under my shirt to look up the data on it really quick. Lapras, the transport pokemon. Lapras is a pokemon that has been over hunted almost to the point of extinction, in the evenings, it's said that it sings plaintively as it seeks what few others of its kind still remain. Its high intelligence enables it to understand human speech and it loves to ferry humans on its back. Lapras nests are extremely rare and tend to only be found within the Icefall cave on Four Isle.
"Lapras, use a gentle water gun on my sister's legs." My brother commanded softly and the pokemon nodded. It lowered its head to my legs and Alex steadied me as the cold water hit them, it was soothing and painful all at the same time that I didn't know how to respond.
"I don't have anything to cover them now," Alex softly whispered into my ear, making me blush and my heart beat faster. I cursed myself for that. "We'll have to keep going for now until we can treat them better." I nodded and sighed as I pulled from his grip and we continued to hike it up the mountain on its side where we ran into no members of Team Rocket at all. My brother returned Lapras for the time being until we got to a more suited location where we needed her or where she could adapt better.
The path was steep and long, it ran throughout the entire mountain's core. I remember even running by a few rooms that I saw lava in certain spots depending on where we were in the mountain. My legs hurt like a bitch when we moved, but I barred through it to save Moltres (and the pleasure I'll have from seeing Rose's face from me sneaking into her operation with the boys.)
The area from the hot internal part of the volcano opened up and we saw the light from the top of the mountain. We hurried out of there and saw the many members of Team Rocket still that were running about all over the volcano, doing some job or another as we watched many of them looking over some barricades on the top of the mountain that led down on the easier path toward the Kindle Road that my pokemon I'd left in town were traveling up.
I finally saw Rose; at the base of the volcano's opening which I saw was over a nest of hot coals. A large fire bird was in there, as well as a baby cuddled into its side. Fire emerged from its head, wings and tail while its talons and legs were orange. It glared up at Rose and attacked with a flamethrower when anything came near it and its kid.
I pulled out my pokedex as we hid behind some rocks and looked up the legendary bird. Moltres, the flame pokemon. Moltres is a legendary bird pokemon that can control fire. If injured, it is said to dip its body in the molten magma of a volcano to burn and heal itself. Every flap of its wings creates a dazzling flare of flames. Those that manage to get a glimpse of this magnificent creature are overwhelmed by its orange wings that seem to be on fire. Please wait while updating the legendary pokemon information…
I put away my device, and turned to the boys, "Blend in with the crowd, it won't be long until Rose figures us out or when she hears a report on it being only my two pokemon and no one else. Don't attack unless it's necessary, or until I at least attack first. I'll distract Rose, and that'll distract everyone." The two of them nodded and rushed off while I hurried over to where Rose was to listen in on her conversation with another grunt. I stood nearby to overhead them while waiting for anything in should act on, like Moltres and its kid.
"How far out is Violet Vilmos?" I heard Rose question.
"Not much further ma'am, she'll be here in only another five to ten minutes." The grunt replied. "If we don't get Moltres and its offspring in that time, then this entire operation is done."
"Damn Violet!" Rose hissed and clenched her fist. Love you too, Rosie.
"Ma'am! News from the men down on the mountain!" Another grunt called out. "We have a problem!"
"Is Violet here already?" Rose questioned worriedly behind a tone of anger. Awe Rosie, you really do love me!
"We don't know where she is! Or the boys she travels with!" The grunt called out worriedly.
"WHAT?" Rose growled and her breathing started to get heavier. "What are you talking about?"
"There are only two of Violet's pokemon on the pass right now, her eevee and her scyther! The rest are nowhere in sight and neither of the boys have been seen, or their pokemon!" The grunt jumped back when Rose took a swing and him and broke a rock before her that was close to the ground in her rage.
"You!" I saw Rose point over at me and I looked up at her at attention, "Find Violet Vilmos! Immediately!"
I grinned at her. "Of course… Rosie." She blinked before she backed up slightly from where she was and all the grunts looked at me with shocked faces. I pulled off my hat and my hair fell from its packed up placement that Alex had put it in under my hat. "Now then… who's first? Cuz I'm going to most assure you that you're not taking Moltres or its kid, ever."
"VIOLET!" Rose charged at me suddenly and I brought up my good arm to defend myself as her fist came at me. I hit it off to the side with my good arm and quickly punched her in the gut.
She was forced to back up from the loss of air, but quickly came back at me with a pocket knife in her hands. I ducked out of the way of her first swipe and leapt back to the side. My pokemon released themselves from their pokeballs and forced Rose back with their attacks. She called out her own pokemon, gengar and gloom as I remembered, but I didn't know the last one. It seemed to be somewhat digitally designed and blocky like in shape with its primary colors being blue and a pale pink with blue eyes that looked drone like over at me. A long snout that looked like a blocky beak and a strangely shaped narrow cone tail finished the creature. I pulled out my pokedex to see what this pokemon was.
Porygon, the virtual pokemon. Using the most advanced technologies in earlier times, scientists finally succeeded in making the first artificial pokemon. Porygon are capable of reverting back to program data in order to enter cyberspace. A porygon is copy-protected so it cannot be duplicated by the means of a computer. Only through breeding can you receive another. Porygon nests are none because all porygon are kept in laboratories as assistants and research subjects.
I quickly put away my Pokedex just as Rose threw the pocket knife at me. I ducked from the projected object and rolled to the side. I grabbed Zircon and threw him onto Amber's body before I grabbed the knife behind me that was lodged into the wall. "Go and help the boys get Team Rocket out of here! Amber, Zircon, stay with me!" My two flying types both leapt up into the air and blew fire and ice at any Team Rocket members that they saw running about that tried to escape from them.
"Get her!" Rose shouted and her three pokemon and she rushed forward at us. Rose's pokemon went right for me, but Amber and Zircon stopped them with a combined attack of dragon rage and shock wave. The two attacks spiraled and both the normal and grass types were knocked back, the gengar of hers avoided the attack and raced right at me.
"Curse!" She shouted and I became overfilled with pain, especially in my recently broken arm which she had broken the last time. I hissed in pain, but remained on my feet. Her curse attack could only hurt me so much before my will would block her out.
I raced at her, running though her ghost pokemon and bringing forward my fist. "That attack doesn't work on me anymore!" My fist collided with her face and she hit the wall behind her, smashing the back of her head and then suddenly she screamed and threw a kick in my direction. I leapt out of the way as her elbow flew down on my shoulder, and sent me crashing to the ground. My face bounced off the hot, rocky ground and Rose then proceeded to kick me.
I rolled out of the way of her boot and got to my feet, wiping the blood off my face and spitting out the blood and rock bits that had somehow ended up in my mouth, giving it an awful taste. I didn't have much time to gain my ground as Rose took a swing at me, her fist connecting with the side of my face. It threw me to the side and I rolled onto the ground, I felt the knife I'd taken from the wall escape my pocket and I suddenly saw it in Rose's hands. My back hit the edge of the lava and I could feel its head hit me head on, roasting my back at the temperature Rose desired, inferno.
She clicked out her blade, and walked over to me. Rocks were in my way on either side so that I couldn't escape, except if I tried to land in the nest with Moltres and its kid but that would be too dangerous for them and I'd end up more than likely falling into the lava. Rose smirked as she saw I had no way out.
"Now let's see who comes out on top. Violet, goodnight!" She raised the dagger over her head and I felt a swig of fear in the bottom of my gut as I watched the dagger come down, ready to kill me. Rose was going to kill me!
"LEAVE MY SISTER ALONE, YOU PSYCHOTIC BITCH!" I heard my brother roar with anger in the mist of the moment. "VENASAUR, FRENZY PLANT!" I gasped as I felt the earth under me shake and millions of thorn covered black vines came up from the ground with a green aura around them and they whipped and grabbed at Rose, seizing her waist and throwing her backward away from me and covering the battlefield in dangerous plants.
I couldn't move still, I was stuck by the edge with all these plants. Suddenly they moved from in front of me and I watched as Vince's venasaur's body glowed while he moved the vines and kept Rose trapped. I inched away from the edge until Alex came up and grabbed a hold of my good arm and brought me to my feet.
"You okay, Vi?" he whispered to me, brushing some hair out of my face.
"Yeah, just a bit roughed up." I chuckled in an effort to get over the fear I'd just felt a few moments ago. "So Vince figured out his ancient move for Venasaur, eh?"
Alex only looked at me with a sad expression. "You don't always have to be so strong Vi, lean on us a little bit, you're not alone in this."
I sighed softly and leaned on his shoulder. I didn't reply to him since it was mostly my nature to do things myself and not let others do it for me or help me unless it was my team, otherwise a lot of stuff I've done with them would have never happened.
I suddenly heard a scream to the side and I looked up to see Rose was coming right at us, she'd somehow managed to escape from her prison in Venasaur's black vines and rushed at us. I pushed Alex out of the way and ducked just as a rock that she had in her hand to bash me with passed over my shoulder, cutting it on the shoulder blade, where she was still able to hit me. I ducked under her arm and twisted her other free arm behind her back and she howled in pain. She bucked back with her feet at me and threw back her other arm that carried the rock that hit me in the side of my jaw. I twisted her arm up higher and she stilled before me, the pain from possibly twisting an arm off can do that.
I suddenly heard Rose gasp and she suddenly went limp against me. I released her arm and she fell to the ground, knocked out. I saw Alex before me with his hand strait like a board; he must have knocked her out. I let out a sigh of relief and hurried over to Rose and removed the dangerous weapon she had stuck in her pocket and put it in my own.
"Thanks." I breathed out to him once my heart rate had calmed down. He nodded and pulled some rope out of his bag and motioned for me to hand him the knife. I did so and blinked at him. "Is the battle already over?"
"Yeah, Vince took hold of the rest of them. The only one we can't account for is Rose's gengar, so we'll have to assume that it'll try and take her and her pokemon away from here." Alex sighed. "Your brother looks like he's about to run over here and tackle you, so I'd head over and let him know you're okay, he really freaked when Rose nearly had you dead."
"I will." I nodded to him and turned back to the other side of the volcano where my brother was. I saw him talking to the moltres parent that had risen from its nest to talk to Vince, or at least hear him out. I watched as the bird listened to him intently, and it made me realize that no one had truly taken Vince seriously except for Dad, Mom and me. I smiled; it was good to see that Vince's journey has matured him a bit more and that more people other than the small group of us recognize him.
I blinked in surprise when I saw Vince pull out a pokeball. The moltres didn't flinch at all when it saw it gently tapped its head against it. Its body turned red and the ball shook once before it stopped completely and then turned red in color. My brother shielded his eyes from the light and when he looked again once it was safe for him. His pokeball was now bright red with many layers of fire designs on it from head to toe while there was a tan line in the center.
I approached my brother. "Cool Vince, you got Moltres to join your team?" My brother blinked and looked back at me, worry filled his eyes. "What's with that look Vince? You don't have to worry I'm fin-!" I yelped as he suddenly threw himself on me.
His arms wrapped around my shoulders and I felt hold me tightly, pressing his face into my hair. "Don't do that Sis! Do you have any idea how fucken scared I was when she had a knife over your head?"
I didn't know what to say. I'd never seen Vince so serious and sacred all at once more, it was almost a disturbing sight. I could feel his tears rolling down my back…
I wrapped my arms around him in this embrace and let my face sink into his shoulder. "Would it help if I said 'I'm sorry'?" I felt my brother grip me tighter in his arms to the point where I thought he wouldn't let me go.
"I don't want…" Vince sobbed. "I don't want to lose you too…"
I gasped and went still in his arms. I forget at times, how much all this damage has done to our family. Dad's disappearance took its toll on all of us, Mom fell to depression, I turned out to be just like him, Vince…
Vince is like a sobbing child who's family's been broken apart, another Mom depression time bomb waiting to happen.
"Vince, you're not going to lose me-"
"SHUT UP!" He reached and pulled me back to look at his face soaked with tears and red in rage and fear. "DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND HOW FRAGILE OUR FAMILY IS RIGHT NOW?"
"OF COURSE I DO!" I pushed him away from me and I felt my own tears stinging my eyes and I raced to wipe them away. "Of course I do… why do you think I'm doing all of this?"
"Violet!" He hissed and grabbed his hair in uncontrollable fury and pulled at it. "You're gonna get killed!"
"…No, I won't." I sighed shakily. "I won't, I won't die until I do what I have to, until I finish what I started!"
"Finish what? Team Rocket?"
"If it means that I get what I need then yes!"
"How does Team Rocket have anything to do with-!"
"THEY'RE OUR ONLY TICKET TO FINDING OUT WHAT HAPPENED TO DAD!" I screamed at him, throwing my arm forward and my palm collided with his check. He gently reached up to touch it and gasped at the sting there. "Team Rocket is somehow connected to him, and if means I have to take down the entire organization, I'll do it if it means I find him." I turned away from him to hide any more tears I shed. "It first just started… with helping people who… were in trouble… Now… now it leads to Dad on a frail silver line that could break at any time…" I sobbed and felt my shoulders shaking. "Don't you know…? You weren't the only one who suffered… from loosening him…!" I held myself as I felt to my knees. "I tried to cry when he was gone… but the tears never came… I suffered in silence…!"
"Vi…" Vince reached out to put a hand on my shoulder and I swatted it away.
"Don't touch me!" I screeched at him. "Don't touch me!"
"Violet!" Alex hurried over to us and I felt him grab my wrist. I pull it from him and slapped him but it seemed to have no effect. He only grabbed onto my waist and held me tighter while I kicked his legs and punched his chest and face.
"DON'T TOUCH ME!" I tried to push myself away from him, but he just held me tighter.
"No, I won't." I froze at his words. "You can hit and scream at me anyway you want, but there's no way in hell I'm letting you go." I couldn't think strait at all, I just kept trying to get away but I couldn't. "Breathe, Vi, let it all out."
I finally settled down to the point where I was sobbing in his shoulder. Alex sighed and picked me up in his arms after a moment. "I'll talk you back to town; you'd better rest for the rest of the day." I curled into his side and looked over my shoulder to where Rose had been. I gasped when I saw she was gone.
"Rose!" I sobbed. "She's gone!"
"Forget about her right now, we're leaving the rest of Team Rocket to the police, you've done enough for today." Alex continued on his path with no worries for the evil woman that had just tried to kill me. My pokemon followed silently and obediently after him while I was in his arms. I wanted so badly to look for her and jump out of his arms at the first chance I got, but I somehow had become so tired…
And I drifted to sleep after that.
Rose's Point of View:
Gengar had taken its damn sweet time in fazing me and my other two pokemon out of the volcano and to a place where I could change into civilian clothes and head back to the islands. Without my uniform, no one recognized me as the second in command of team rocket, but the great Giovanni Agustino's wife. It was easy to ask for a lift home when everyone thought you were a good person and you put up a good front.
It was well near eight by the time I got to our secret base, and our home in Viridian City. I had little to no strength to open the door, so I hit the doorbell a few times and my son, Tristan, finally answered it. His dark eyes were wide with shock when he saw me, and he obediently let me in without saying a word, closing the door behind me once I got in.
"Mother," he greeted softly to me after a while, "Father has been waiting on you to return home, he's in the study."
"Go get me a wine glass and a bottle of that shitty wine on the end of the rack, I need a drunk moment." My son silently nodded and took off, his bright red hair flowing behind him.
"I'd hold off on that order, my love." I saw my son be stopped by my husband from a hand on his shoulder. "Instead of the wine on the end, get the one second from the bottom on the left side. I'll get the wine glasses." My son nodded and rushed off to get the requested item. "You look like you've been through hell today, my love."
"That damn Violet girl," my fist shook and my husband's eyes hardened. "She got in the way again, she snuck into our operation on the island, she even impersonated our grunts!"
"Things won't be the same for the last time we encounter her, my love, that, I promise you." He led me to his office underground and pulled out a set of wine glasses. He sat himself in his chair, and pulled me to sit on his lap. Our son retuned no more than a few seconds after and showed the wine to my husband before my husband nodded to him. Tristan had chosen the correct one asked for. My son popped the bottle lid top and poured the liquid into our glasses before he put the cork back on and silently slipped out of the room, not one word said.
"Such an obedient little boy he's become." My husband grinned. "He'll be a fine addition to the organization in time."
"That is if Violet doesn't destroy it." I hissed and took a large swig at my glass, nearly emptying it in one gulp.
"Slow down love, rushing will do you no good."
"You can say that even though this will be the next place she'll come to and destroy, like all the other times?" I chided him. "Our base in Celadon, our operations in Lavender, Saffron and now One Isle, too… it's just like two years ago."
"Just like Haze, who knew his daughter would finish what he started?" He took a sip of his own wine and sighed. "But that doesn't matter, Haze is gone and his daughter will be soon enough."
"How can you be so sure that she'll come right to us?"
"Easily, my love." My husband reached into his pocket and pulled out a gym leader's badge that was shaped like a plant, a set of light green leaves were a set above the stem and on the body before the rest of the badge was a dark green with five hexagons on the end of it. "She needs my badge to get to the Indigo Plateau, and to get to the Victory Road to find her father's remains."
