Pokѐmon Journey I: Violet's Trial
Chapter 24: Surprise in the Victory Road
Violet's Point of View:
The most disappointing thing after all this drama was that Tristan was never found.
We've stayed in Viridian for almost a week now, helping out the police to carry out their investigation to round up any members the disbanded organization of Team Rocket that managed to escape to make sure they don't rise. They also helped us with the search for Rose and Giovanni's son, Tristan, but he'd simply disappeared. No one could find any traces of him anywhere…
As much as it pained me, we still had some good news from it all. Amber's mother had made it through just fine and was starting to recover, much like all the other pokemon that were rescued from the base. I'd already been in to see them. Amber would hardly leave her mother's side and told her of our giant adventure up to now, where we saved her.
She was a very sweet pikachu, and I could see why Amber loved her so much. Surge knew that we'd have a hard time separating the two and Amber's mother needed a place to recover, so he offered to keep her at his gym where he and Amber's father could look after her, and Amber could visit at any time she wanted. It was relieving to know.
We were planning on leaving the city today however to go and enter the Victory Road, the final area before the Pokѐmon League. It was also one of my last attempts to look for Tristan as well as searching the old, destroyed Team Rocket base and see if anything about my father was there… or if my father was there. The police had gotten all our statements and we were just waiting on Surge getting here to take Amber's mother before we would leave.
It was nearly six in the morning over at the pokemon center, when I felt a pounding on our door. I groaned and turned over in my bed, but the pounding was insistent. I yawned and opened the door. There stood Surge and his raichu.
"Hey ya, Violet! Sorry we took so long." He rubbed his hand behind his head nervously and then seemed to go quiet and fearful when he saw my face. I was tired and didn't want to be woken, and all hell would break loose if I lost my temper.
"Easy, Vi…" Alex slowly approached me from behind and placed both his hands on my shoulders to try and calm me down. He gently pulled me away from the door and picked me up in his arms. "Go back to sleep, Amber and I'll take him over to see Amber's mom." I sighed tiredly and nodded in his chest before he set me back down in my bed and tucked me in. "I'll get you up in a couple hours when you won't kill anyone. Hey Chalce, keep an eye on her for me, okay?"
I felt my little eevee slide his warm body next to my head and he cried out his reply to Alex softly. I zoned out after that and quietly drifted back into a world of dreams.

After a few hours rest (and I wasn't in a particular killing mood), I stumbled down to the first floor of the pokemon center where the others were talking. I yawned and rubbed my eyes as I walked in Surge was one of the first to see me and waved.
"Hey Violet! Sorry about waking you up when you were tired, I thought you'd be wide away by six." I blinked tiredly at him and slumped next to Alex and Amber, the latter leapt onto my lap a curled up to keep me warm and I felt my head fall onto Alex's shoulder. He stiffened but didn't move. "Uh… Violet?"
"Don't worry about her, she's just tried," My brother waved off my behavior, "To be honest, it's really relieving to see her like this again. She's never been a morning person, and usually doesn't like to be up before ten, but things have changed a bit since our journeys started."
"Vince is totally right on that one, this is the real Violet Vilmos," He cried out when I swatted the side of his arm, but then otherwise laughed with the others, "She probably won't be fully awake until we reach the Victory Road. That's another hour or so away."
"Well, I'll let you guys get to it then, I'll take that pikachu down with me to Vermillion and any of ya can come by any time you'd like," Surge told them and carried Amber's mother in his arms with Raichu walking beside him, "We'll get going so you can go. Later!"
I curled more into Alex's shoulder as I drifted in the world between the awaken and the sleeping and I felt him shift me so I was in his arms again. "Hungry, Vi?"
"No…"
"Not at all?"
"No…"
"I'll get her something to go anyway, Alex; I'll meet you at the front door." I heard my brother before he ran off and I was left alone again with Alex. Amber I could no longer feel on my lap but I could hear the pattering of her feet on the floor.
I heard Alex sigh. "Alright Vi, I'll carry you to the mountain," I felt him chuckle, "The things I do for you…"
"You do them since you care about me…" I mumbled to him incoherently.
"…Your right, I do." I felt my cheeks go red and hid them in his shirt. I felt Alex's heartbeat pounding faster than it had been before. I found it quite soothing, even after our conversation. I allowed myself to go back to sleep with the help of his steady heartbeat to lull me under.

"Come on, Vi, time to wake up." I groaned as I heard those dreadful words that brought me back from the dream world. I opened my eyes and blinked and the bright sunlight as it blinded me before I saw a man standing before us that I didn't recognize. It startled me and I jumped from wherever I was and slapped the dude before me and leapt back with Amethyst's pokeball in hand, ready to attack.
"Chill Sis! Easy!" My brother entered my vision quickly held out his hands in a calming manor, "Relax, the dude wanted to make sure we weren't kidnapping you or something… and check to make sure you had all your badges." I blinked and lowered my hand to see the man was actually a gate guard for those heading into the Victory Road. The man, dressed like a police man, but in black clothes and no hat, rubbed his bruised cheek before he got back up and walked over to us.
"My apologies, Miss Vilmos, It's not every day you see two boys and a sleeping girl in one of their arms. I was just doing my job."
"It's fine, it's my fault that I hit you, I'm sorry for that," I quickly reached into my bag and pulled out my badge case, "So, you have to check out badges before we can go up the mountain?"
"I do, I have to make sure not only are they all there, but that they're real. You wouldn't believe how many people fake their badges in order to get up to the mountain and find some powerful pokemon." He took the case from me and started to inspect them.
"It's actually more believable than you'd think," He snorted a laugh and looked over my badges a second time before he closed the case and handed it back to me, "Am I clear?"
"Yes ma'am," he turned to the boys, "and you two?"
The boys quickly handed over their cases and he inspected them easily enough before he nodded and closed them both, handing them back to each of them. "You two are both clear, have a safe trip up the mountain and good luck to you at the plateau, there are quite a few strong trainers in there."
"I'll enjoy that then, let's go guys!" The boys hurried after me toward the entrance to the mountain cave that led upward to our final destination for our dream, but also to an area I needed to check out.

The inside of the Victory Road was much larger then I'd actually anticipated, but then again, most mountains are. There were endless amounts of trainers that I had seen running in the darkened tunnels and lot of monster like pokemon that were strong as could be. It could be one of the best training grounds we've been to yet.
"Fire blast, Amethyst!" Oh, and we were definitely training alright.
The fire exploded as it left her mouth and connected with the gyarados that was on the other side of the field, facing against us. Even through it was a type advantage pokemon over Amethyst; it still fell to the ground in pain, finally calming down in defeat. It was the trainer's last pokemon too. I giggled at my success.
The trainer easily accepted his lose and handed me the prize money for winning before her ran off. The trainers here were much stronger then we normally face, most likely since they battled all the gym leaders in the region as well. I loved all the practice we were getting. We didn't dare test out our ancient moves since we wanted to save them special for the Elite Four up in the Indigo Plateau.
"Phew! That was a good battle, where to next?" My brother questioned with his arms folded behind his head and all of us riding on the back of Venasaur.
"Hopefully that old Team Rocket base where Dad was last before he disappeared," I smoothed the base of the flower of Vince's venasaur as we continued to move forward, "We need to search that place top to bottom before we can head up to the top of the mountain."
"And we will, Violet," Alex placed a hand on my shoulder, "We'll find out what happened to your Dad, I promise."
"Hey, you guys! I think I see some burnt rock up ahead!" It caught both of our attentions and Alex and I turned to look where Vince was pointing. Sure enough down the path to the right, was a tunnel that led to where most likely the explosion took place from the old base they had out there. A single sign was placed before it. I jumped off Venasaur's back and hurried over to the recently new sign.
'Team Rocket Victory Road Hideout. Please watch your step and come inside, we ask you only don't touch the items inside, some may turn to dust. Indigo Plateau Elite Four and Police Board'
So we can go inside, good, makes things a little easier. "Come on boys! We got a base to search!"
"You mean we can actually go inside?" Alex questioned.
"Read the sign, it explains it all, and signed by the police department and the Elite Four," I jerked my thumb at the sign before I hurried down the burnt tunnel, "but don't take too long!"
"Wait up, Vi!" My brother and Alex hurried after me, but I'd already gotten another good head start on them. It made me glad I slept so long; it gave me lots of energy to spend where the boys could not.
Upon entering the base, I suddenly had little flashbacks of when I was in the Pokѐmon Mansion. Everything was black in color from the blast; hardly anything was left standing inside. Computers were reduced to almost nothing; walls were caving in on each other. It was incredible at the same time as spooky, I'm sure not everyone made it through the blast, and some lingering souls probably hung around here.
Beyond the blasted areas, there were a few rooms that were almost untouched by the blast. There was actually a small office where a guard was on duty and watching over the books that were in there. His eyes landed on me when I arrived. "You may look and open the books to see their content, but you are not allowed to leave the room with the material." I nodded to him and began to look over the material.
All of the books I looked at seem to be books on pokemon and what things they liked were and the best way to capture them. It was only by luck when I found an old dairy like took that had no title on it. I pulled it off the shelf to look at the cover. There still seemed to be no indication of who its author was or what it was about.
I opened the cover and a name had been written in the top corner of the cover, though it had been crossed out many times so that the only letters I could find inside was 'HV'. I looked over to the next page after to get more of a clue, I found a short phrase written there 'To my loving children who I know will find this'.
That doesn't sound like any member of Team Rocket; all of them were snobby and selfish. I flipped their first page over and saw what seemed to be like a table of contents with dates on each of them. They dated back all the way from four years ago to two years ago, ending with section XV: The Victory Road. I flipped through the many pages until I came to that section toward the back.
December 7, 2010
Dear my beautiful children, it's another day out on the wild road of being a trainer. The road has been tough and challenging, at the same time as exciting and an experience I hope that one day you'll be able to experience as well, though hopefully in a world where Team Rocket doesn't exist.
I'd recently beaten their leader, Giovanni, but only by the skin of my teeth. The man was a powerful and deadly foe, but I fear he still hides more power within his secret base I discovered was here in the mountains. I came to investigate and hopefully free any pokemon trapper here so they don't have to suffer the same fate as many do.
I must leave you at this for now; I will right more when I get the chance.
Love, your father
I blinked a few times as I read over the entry. It sounded just like Dad… but why would a book of his, if this is his journal, be mixed up with a large number of books that Team Rocket used years ago to capture and use pokemon? I pushed the thoughts to the back of my head and went to the next dated entry. It was written over two weeks later.
December 19, 2010
Dear my beautiful children, my apologies for waiting an entire week before writing this note to you, but things have been troublesome here in the caves. While I have been doing my best to halt Team Rocket's attacks from leaving the mountain, I still could not find the entrance to their base. It was frustrating me beyond belief. Even with the help of my team, things have just not been going well for us.
I hope you both know that I miss both of your smiling faces and your mother dearly. If it wasn't for all this drama, I think I would have finished my journey and at least tried to face the league once and then came home, but with Team Rocket involved, it's made things longer, and you know the police can't and won't do anything unless they have to (well, most of the police, Jenny tends to do a lot more than your average police force.)
Wait, I hear a noise, wait here my children, I will write again shortly.
Love, your father
I stared at the page in surprise, what exactly did he hear? See? I flipped the page over and looked at the next entry, marked the next day.
December 20, 2010
My dearest children, I finally found it! The base that was hidden from me all this time was enclosed behind a fake wall, which really was another path. The only reason I finally found it was because of a map an explore had given me from a few years prior which showed a tunnel there, and a more present one, only two years ago, showed the same thing. I found where the path was and discovered the rock was a fake! Oh how happy this makes me…
Sorry, I must be overwhelming you with these emotions I poured into these letters, sadly I cannot erase since its pen. But whatever the case, I will make my move soon. I've staged a hiding spot where I can see the entrance to the tunnel perfectly. With the help of my pokemon, we'll blast that sucker down and run down that base!
I shall wait here until they open the door until then, my children, wait for my next letter, I will revile to you the heart of their operation and shut them down for good.
Love, your father
"Violet! There you are!" I looked up from the book briefly and watched my brother and Alex step into the room with me, "What book are you reading?"
"A journal," I whispered. Alex looked at me worriedly when I said that and got down on the ground next to me. His fingers ran over the hand written words and blinked his eyes at the paper.
"Wait a minute, I recognize this handwriting; it looks just like your dad's from back when he was still around." Vince was down and next to me on my other side in a heartbeat.
"What?" He looked over the writing as well to confirm Alex's words, "You're right! It does look like his writing!" My brother shook my shoulder, "What part are you up to, Vi?"
"December twenty-second, two days after his last entry." I flipped the page to the next entry that I'd yet to read in this section.
"Read from there, Sis, we can read the rest of this later. I just wanna find out what he wrote here and if he's still alive." My heartbeat raced as I heard him say those words, while at the moment it was still a possibility, I didn't want to believe that fact. I looked back to the book to read the next entry.
December 22, 2010
Dear my children
This will only be a short message from me to you. To be honest, I'm terrified at this moment that something bad may happen and I may never see you again. Team Rocket is ruthless and will do anything to keep their organization going at all costs.
I fear I may not come back with this dreadful feeling in the put of my stomach, please, stay safe, and should you find this and discover I am not alive, let me tell you that I loved you with all my heart and your mother was the other half of myself that I could not be without, tell her that to ease her pain. I do not want her to suffer…
I hope to live another day, but if I must die for your sakes, I shall throw away my life away this second. But I hope to still see your smiling faces, do not forget the love we shared…
Love, your father
"…Is this really him?" Vince whispered worriedly, "The way he's writing this makes it sound like he's trying to hide who we are."
"If you were a dad, would you want an evil organization to know who your kids were?" Vince went silent at that and shook his head.
"Even so, Vince's right," Alex commented as he looked over the entry again, "Your dad's handwriting, while it's the same as his, he never talked like that. I think that masking the way he talked was his way of hiding a bit more of whom he actually was."
I flipped the page to the next entry, shocked to see that it was laced heavily with dried spots and rivers of blood, still somewhat red in color, but much darker from dying and drying out. The boys and I gasped at what we saw and even the guard at the corner freaked out, calling on his radio for someone to come down here.
"Even the words…!" Vince pointed to the next entry, written in blood as well.
"Oh my Mew…" my hand raced to cover my mouth as tears filled with worry and fear escaped the corners of my eyes.
Unknown date
What date is it, am I really alive? I'm sorry if this frightens you my children, but I lost my last pen, so my message had to be written in my blood.
I know, it's sickening to see, but it was truly all I had. I barely made it out of the area alive without many injuries. I hope my blood here dries and mixes with the ashes so you don't have to see what I lost… I don't want to tell you what I lost…
I've lost one of my arms, the explosion took it off all the way up to my elbow, but from there the blood streams and I without anything to help it.
My children, I most likely will not survive these injuries so I ask you to listen well, I will always love you, even in death, so please do not shed many tears over me. I did what I had to, to help as many lives as I could and protect those I loved, I have no regrets other then I wish I could have seen all of you one last time…
Good-bye…
Love, your father
As he'd wrote the last word, blood trailed down the page, as his finger slipped down it with no more strength to write. The tears were streaming down our faces and I clung to my brother and Alex as I lost it all once more.
My father was dead…
"What's going on here?" I sniffled as I looked up at a man that wore darkly colored clothing and a cape, spiky red hair sat on his head and hard eyes glanced down at me and the journal of my father.
"I'm sorry sir," I wiped my eyes and stood up with the help of the boys. "We found-" I heard something clunk on the floor and I looked down to see what it was. A tiny shrunken pokeball, a small child made charm bracelet and a note hit the ground. Before I could move to grab them, the pokeball enlarged and opened on its own. A large feathery bird pokemon that was well taller than all of us and had brown and tan feathers, other than the long hair like feathery mane on the back of its head that was red and yellow. Its deep brown eyes looked at me almost happily and it bent down to grab the note and bracelet and handed them to me. Through my tears, I took them both in hand and opened the note, shocked to see my father's handwriting and that the date was only a few weeks ago.
"What the hell…?" My brother gasped, drying his tears on his sleeve as he looked at the letter. Alex wrapped his arms around me to hold me steady and upright as I read over the letter.
November 30, 2012
Dear my beautiful daughter, Violet Vilmos
I apologize for giving you such the scaring with my last written note in my journal. At the time, I honestly did think I was going to die with the wounds that I obtained. I didn't think I would ever see you grow or achieve your dream…
But I was saved Violet; I was saved by a creature called Mewtwo. It also escaped a horrible past and had traveled for many years, hiding in this mountain until it found me and helped me escape and heal. I will admit to you that I still have no arm to replace the one I lost in the explosion of the Team Rocket base; I've learned to move around without it and work a daily life.
I've hidden away with Mewtwo for many years now, attacking Team Rocket from the shadows with the help of Mewtwo and all my pokemon as well. I didn't want any of you to be harmed, and that is why I've hidden away. For the time being, I still will remain that way until Team Rocket is truly gone from the region. You may have taken out Giovanni, but Rose will still rise without a fully developed plan. She will still hurt others to get what she wants. Once the storm has passes on the other four islands you've yet to explore, I know you will find Rose there, doing whatever she can to bring Team Rocket back to life, even without the help of her twisted husband.
Violet, you've grown into a beautiful young woman, I couldn't be prouder of what you've done for everyone around you. I want you to know that you have my support and my love when you battle the Pokѐmon League. Beat them Hon and come home the champion of the region.
I can't say for now when we'll meet again, but to prove it really is me, I left Pidgeot and the good luck bracelet you made me before I left on my journey. Leave Pidgeot in your mother's care, hopefully she will give her some joy until I can return home. With the danger that still lingers around Mewtwo, I'd rather not take the chances.
I hope to see you again my darling daughter
Love, your father, Haze Vilmos
"…He's… alive…?"
"Violet!" My brother grabbed at my face and cried as he brought our foreheads together, "He's alive, Violet! Dad's alive!"
"Oh my Mew, he's alive!" I squealed and tackled my brother in a hug. He lifted me off the ground and swung me in the air and I laughed with him. When he set me down and brought me into his arms, I reached out of his hold with one of my arms to grab Alex, throwing my arm around his neck and crying in his shoulder. "He's alive Alex…"
"I know, I'm really glad for you guys." I pulled back and smiled up at him before I looked over at the old flying type I remember so well.
"Pidgeot! Oh I missed you so much girl! Don't give us such a scare!" I pulled myself from my brother's arms and ran into her soft down feathers under her chin. She cooed at me softly and wrapped her wings around me.
I suddenly turned when I looked back at the red haired man that gapped at us in the corner. I pulled myself from Pidgeot's wings and held my father's note and journal to my chest. "We can keep this book right?" I questioned him, "I know it was kept here, but this is our lost father's journal, he's been missing for almost two years."
I saw the man sigh and he put a finger to his chin, thinking. I blinked worriedly at him while he paced for a moment and then looked back at me. "I guess so; it is yours by right of family." He let out a deep sigh before he gave me a soft smile, "It's all yours, Miss Vilmos."
I cheered and with a sudden energy that came over me, I rushed up to and hugged the red haired man. "Thank you! Thank you! THANK YOU!" The man blushed at my actions and looked away, and I couldn't help but laugh at him the entire time.
Rose's Point of View:
I had hidden away with my husband in his personal cave to train in the mountains. Even if my husband didn't could start Team Rocket up right away, and even if I was facing off against a newly created monster, I was going to win. I was going to set things right in my world. I was going to take down Violet if it was the last thing I ever did.
I was on my own for the time being, I was the leader of the newly formed (yet to be formed) Team Rocket. I had little time to put something together to take down Violet Vilmos.
But that wasn't about to stop me from trying.
I used all my left over resources and loopholes I had to get a hold of some of my old members and told them to meet me on Four Isle; we had some pokemon to steal.
Witch's Note:
Alright! Another chapter done! I'm so glad! And Violet finally learns her Dad's alive! But where the hell is he? And how exactly did he and Mewtwo meet up? Will she ever find the two and complete Stein's last request and her promise to her mother to complete their family again? You'll find out eventually, so let's get to the next chapter! Does Violet become the champion of the Kanto region?
Okay my wonderful reviewers! Please Review and send in Questions for me! You know I love to hear from all of you, so don't be afraid to speak your mind!
