Pokѐmon Journey I: Violet's Trial
Chapter 25: Battle the Elite Four & Who?
Violet's Point of View:
After our little run in with the dragon user of the Elite Four, Lance, and finding my father's journal and discovering he was alive, it honestly turned from the worst day of my life to the best in five seconds flat. From all the excitement, my brother and I couldn't sleep at all. He and I traveled into a vacant room for most of the night to read all the entries that our father had left us. Hearing about the world and his travels between four and two years ago was amazing, even if it didn't sound exactly like him since he was manipulating his writing a bit so it didn't sound like himself, should it have fallen into enemy hands.
Not to mention that I was giddy with excitement to battle the Elite Four today, and everyone was coming. While the Elite Four were popular in general and got daily visitors watching their battles, we had a section entirely reserved for our family and friends and other pokemon that were going to watch us. Lance had been kind enough to do that for us, and we warned him we had some fairly large pokemon that were coming, so he left us the entire center front row in the stands for all the others.
It was finally time to prove my worth, how powerful I'd gotten, and see if I was strong enough to be the champion. The Elite Four had been established long ago and never had there been a trainer strong enough to be the champion, but today, I had a strong feeling that was going to change.
After finally getting a few hours' sleep (much less than I've ever had before and shockingly still wide awake and energetic) I hurried downstairs to find the others at the early hour of seven, to get breakfast and meet up with the family. I found everyone down there, human and pokemon alike, gathered and eating breakfast together. It was also to my surprise that there were the four legendary bird children here as well.
"Wow, Sis, you're up early!" My brother's surprised comment caught the attention of everyone in the room, including those that weren't our family. All of us a sudden, the room erupted in claps and cheering and everyone stood. I felt an embarrassing flush set itself upon my face and I lowered it to gaze at the floor.
"Come and join us, Violet, you deserve it." The professor beckoned me forward to the table and toward the empty seat that was between Luke and Alex. As the room settled down and I took my seat, I saw out of the corner of my eye a set of hands that were holding each other. I looked further out and saw it was Luke's hand connected with Daisy's. I sucked in a tiny breath of air which Daisy caught onto quickly and before I could utter a word, she hushed me. I blinked at her, but I remained quiet before I gave her a look, one that certainly wanted an explanation to this later. She sighed and nodded to me, giving me the notion that we would talk later. I accepted that and moved on.
"So Violet, did… you find anything out about… him, in the tunnels?" My mother questioned softly as she played with her food.
"Actually, yeah, we did." I pulled the journal out of my bag and pulled out the final note my father left as to not scare my mother more then she already has been. I handed it to her and the pokeball that Pidgeot was in. "This note was a letter to me and to prove it was really him, he left us Pidgeot, she's going to stay with you when we're not around until we get Dad to come back home." I looked down at the childish jewelry that was on my wrist my father had given back to me with its own wear from time. "He also sent back the good luck charm bracelet I made him years ago, but I kinda wanna keep that for good luck in our matches."
"You mean…?" Everyone around the table gasped as she had and slowly opened the letter.
I smiled. "Yeah, he's alive." My mother sucked in a sharp breath before I saw her eyes roll into the back of her head and she promptly fell backward onto the floor. After my fist initial shock from her fainting, I rushed over to her and picked her up off the floor to make sure she was alright. The others and I gathered around her and we fanned her and tried to bring her to.
"Uh… we'll take care of your mother, Violet," The professor sighed while Luke was kind enough to pick her up, "We'll get to our seats, and you kids better get registered to fight. We'll be watching up in the first set of stands."
"Thanks, professor." With everyone on my team fed and taken care of, I hurried off with the boys to the registration at the front of the building.
"I wonder what kind of trainers are in the Elite Four, I've honestly never really bothered to check before now." I murmured to the boys.
"Well we know we'll be fighting that Lance guy, and I've heard he's a dragon trainer who uses dragons or pokemon that look a lot like dragons since there are hardly any dragons known in the world," Vince cracked the side of his neck as he explained, "So we know he's gotta have one of the evolutions from the same species Zircon is, and he could even have a charizard, they're pretty dragon like in appearance."
"And the other members are no different." Alex sighed and crossed his arms over his chest, deep in thought.
"There's also Lorelei, the ice type member, and since they're ice types, you can also be assured that they're water types. Then there's Bruno, a fighting type trainer. And then there's also Agatha, a ghost type user."
"Ghost types… great…" I hissed at the sound of fighting more ghosts. They haven't exactly been my fondest type of pokemon since Rose's gengar always loved to attack me with curse.
"Well, we'll just have to work around that," I sighed, "There still isn't a champion yet, it's there?"
"No, we would've heard about that by now if there was…" Alex noted, "But I have a feeling that's going to change today."
"You're not the only one." I grinned at him.
"If you two are done, can we go register now?" Vince had his arms crossed and a scowl set on his face, "If you need a room or something, then go get one. Don't do it on my time."
I flushed a bright red and swatted him, "Shut it, Vince!"
"Come on, Vi, let's go." Alex led me away from my brother and we walked up to the front desk. There they asked for our trainer cards and scanned them to bring up our images and put us into the line of who's next to face the Elite Four. Alex was before me, and Vince was after me. We were seated in a waiting room as we had to wait for a good ten trainers before us, before we could start our battles.

"Alexander Oak!" An announcer called after a good couple hour snooze on Alex's shoulder. My brother seemed to have fallen asleep on my back as well and suddenly woke when I did, and Alex got up from his seat. He stretched and looked back at me nervously.
"Well, here goes nothing." He sighed.
"Don't worry; I'm sure you'll do fine. Just wait for me at the end, and I'll face you for the title." I stood myself and my brother fell onto the seat I was on previously. Alex looked into my eyes and I held my hands behind my back, swaying a bit on my feet. "And if you don't make it that far, you'll be in a world of trouble when I find you."
"Then I'll make sure to get there then, and you better wait for me." He finally seemed to calm down, and smiled at me.
"You know I'll be there."
"Good."
Then it happened.
Fast then I remembered, Alex had his face rush past me and suddenly I felt a warm set of lips touch my cheek before he was gone and I was left alone with my brother and the other trainers that were waiting on their battle with the Elite Four. I gently touched the area and looked out to the arena he just headed of toward.
"Dude! Sis! What the hell just happened?" Vince sat up and rubbed the side of his head while he looked at my gapped mouth.
I turned back to him and composed myself with my hand still on my check, enjoying the warmth still there and a bright blush exploding in my cheeks. "I have a promise to keep."

"Violet Vilmos!" I finally heard my name be called a good twenty minutes after Alex. I still was milking at the warmth I felt in my heart before I'd have to clear my head and prepare for four consecutive battles.
"You ready, Sis?" I felt my brother's hand land on my shoulder and I turned back to look at his worried expression.
I gave him a soft smile. "Of course I am Vince, don't worry about me," I gave him a quick hug before I backed away to head toward the arena, "I'll meet you at the end okay?"
My brother sighed and nodded. "Kill it, Sis. I'll be following right behind ya."
"I expect to see you soon then. And good luck!" I turned on my heels and hurried away from him before he'd drag me into another conversation.
"Hey! That's my line!" I laughed at his foolish comment as I ran away from him. "Good luck, Vi!"
I then headed to the announcer that had called my name and he double checked over the number I had on me while they had me wait. After checking it over again though, the guy then nodded and allowed me to pass through the door behind him.
As soon as I passed into the next room, a large crowd of cheering people greeted me up in the stands around a frozen field with water around it and holes in the ground where water ran under the field as well. On the other side of the room was a woman who had lighter red hair that was also shorter and strait compared to Rose's. She was dressed in a pale blue skirt and a sleeveless button up jacket with nothing on underneath that I could tell from where I stood. She wore glasses and a set of heels that couldn't have been taller than an inch or so. Her hair was pulled back giving me a better view of her face which was warm and welcoming.
"Welcome to the Pokѐmon League, Violet Vilmos," The woman announced to me, "I am Lorelei Nieve of the Elite Four, and I am honored to welcome you to our facility. We are extremely grateful for all the help you, and your brother, and Alexander Oak did to disband Team Rocket in this region, though regardless of that," I saw a smirk and a glint in her eyes, "that does not mean that any of our members plan to go easy on you."
"Good, otherwise you might as well hand over that championship to me then." I smirked at her.
"I'm glad to see your spunk is still present, it'll make this battle much more interesting," Lorelei pulled out one of her pokeballs and enlarged it in her hands, "I'm sure you aware, but I am a master at ice type pokemon. You won't get by our freezing attacks!"
"We'll see about that! Let's go Amber!" It was the first time I had to release her from her pokeball to send her into battle. Amber normally hung out on my shoulder or at my side, but things were different now with being in the league, until battle, it was best to hide them to keep your options open.
"Hm… a good choice on your part to handle my pokemon with electricity, grass would have surely failed. But the battle has yet to begin! Go Dewgong!" Out of her pokeball came the white water pokemon with the small horn on its head. It quickly jumped into the water, and I grinned.
Not exactly the best place to hide from my pokemon; doesn't she know that water conducts electricity? I shook my head and kept my thoughts to myself while Lorelei looked over at me with a slightly confused expression that was caused by my thoughts.
"First move to the challenger." She gestured to me.
"Sadly, it will also be my last for this battle." I had no idea if she just wasn't thinking or if she hadn't encountered many electric types in the past. I pointed at the large amounts of water that the pokemon was submerged inside of. "Thunder!"
My raichu's cheeks lit up with large sparks as she prepared her attack before it all exploded at once everywhere in the room that Lorelei and I had to both shield our eyes. "No!" I heard my opponent cry out and I looked through the cracks in my arm to see in the middle of all this blinding light that Dewgong had been sent flying into the air and was not even given a chance to attack or defend. My pokemon finally let off her attack and the pokemon dropped to the ground below, hitting it would a loud impact that crushed a small layer of the ground it landed on. Lorelei gasped as she looked over at her pokemon, knocked out, and nearly buried into the ground.
"Im-imposible…" Lorelei breathed out fearfully as she looked from her pokemon to myself.
I could only grin at her. "So who's next?" My raichu agreed with me by sparking her cheeks to show how much electricity she still had left, and that was quiet a lot. It's been a while since Amber's been in a serious battle, she's passed on some of the gym battles, but she has had a powerful trainer here and there when we were in the Victory Road, but I know she's prepared.
"So, the rumors are true… your power is unbelievable," Lorelei muttered to herself, "It seems the water won't be favoring me in this battle."
"Not with Amber on the field. I hate to be rude though, but I'd like to keep going on with our battle rather than talk."
"My apologies, you simply surprised me." She returned her first pokemon and threw out the next. "Go Slowbro!" Out from her Pokeball, came the evolution of a slowpoke that stood on its hind legs with a large swirled, cone shaped shell for a tail. The pokemon yawned before it looked over at me strangely. It simply yawned a second time and then got into a battle ready stance.
"Slowbro use psywave!" A psychic type move, something Amber's faced before, but not too often. She took the hit to the brain easily enough though and was ready for another attack or my command.
"Quick attack!" My raichu sped off toward the other side of the field where the large pink pokemon was and jumped, hitting on the side of its head. The pokemon hardly seemed to reply to that move and I had Amber put some distance between them.
Okay… I guess only electric moves would work against this pokemon…
"Shock wave!" Amber created a disk of electricity that she sent flying on the wind at the opponent. Since the slowbro had nearly no speed at all, it simply sat there and watched my attack come at it.
"Don't underestimate my pokemon!" Lorelei snapped at me, "Slowbro, use protect!"
A sort of green field came over the pokemon as it sat their idly. Amber's attacks sped at the pokemon with perfect accuracy, though the problem lied with the fact that none of them hit the pokemon, only the field it conjured up. I hissed out at it and snarled.
We have to get around its defense then, and that only seems… to be at the front.
"Amber, get behind the slowbro!" My raichu was off in a dash as soon as my command was past my lips. I saw Lorelei get worried, she knew Amber's speed was much faster than her Slowbro's ever could be.
"Protect all around you!" she shouted, "Then use whirlpool!" The pokemon had risen into the air by a wave of water that came from around it. It swirled around the pokemon and while I saw the protection was in effect all around the pokemon, it wasn't as strong as it was before.
"Use thunder on the whirlpool Slowbro's inside, and hit it with everything you've got!"
It was the end for that pokemon, the electricity lit up the swirling and raging tower of water like a Christmas tree. I could hear the cry from the pokemon before the water dispersed and fell back into the area below and Slowbro crashed into the ground, electricity sparking off its body and x's over its eyes.
Two down, a few more to go.
Lorelei returned her pokemon, and sighed. She looked over at me with a frustrated face. She was just barely starting to lose her cool. I gave her a grin, and she growled bringing forth a glare that could even match Rose's. I wondered if they're somehow related far off or something. It would make sense since apparently I can piss them both off without any problems.
"Go Cloyster!" She threw out another pokeball and out from it came a large spike shelled pokemon with a large black face deeply embedded in the center. It had a wicked grin on its face as it looked at my raichu. It closed up its shell and sat on the ground, waiting for Lorelei's orders.
"Well, I don't feel like waiting," I mumbled to myself, "Amber use shock wave!" Another disk of electricity came and flew in the direction of the shelled pokemon. With its shell closed, it took the hit easily and I saw the sparks flying around its shell. I saw the shell crack open and the pokemon inside seemed to be fine, its shell had absorbed the attack.
"Crap…" I hissed out.
"Try getting by this defense Violet! If you can't attack my cloyster inside its shell, you can't defeat it." Lorelei chuckled and looked at me evilly. "Now let's take down that raichu, Cloyster! Rapid spin!" The pokemon suddenly turned on its side and swung itself around until it was spinning at a high speed before it propelled itself at Amber.
"Amber! Into the water!" My pokemon looked back at me as if I was insane, but I pointed to the water and she gave me a nervous look before she jumped in. The cloyster went after her in the water and Lorelei gasped.
"Cloyster! Get out of there!"
But it was too late.
"Amber, use thunder!" The entire water under the field lit up again and the shelled pokemon was thrown up onto land. It opened its shell from the shock of the attack.
"No Cloyster! Close your shell or she'll get you!"
"Amber! Get to land and use shock wave!" My raichu hurried back to the platform while the cloyster was closing up its shell; before it could, however, a disk of electricity got through a thin sliver of its shell and a small explosion went off inside. It opened a minute later and the pokemon was singed with the heat from the electric bolt in the shape of a disk. It puffed out a brown smoky air and sunk into the ground, x's appearing over its eyes.
"So how many are left?" Lorelei simply didn't answer me. I was really starting to think she hated me.
"Return Cloyster," she returned her pokemon without a problem before she grabbed out another pokeball. "Let's take her down, Jynx!" I blinked at the pokemon that came out before me, it was human in shape, but it was shorter, and also it had bright blond hair and purple skin. Large lips with red lipstick on them were accented heavily on her and a thick dress that flowed around the body. Its eyes were wide as it looked over at us before it simply sighed and looked back at its trainer.
It froze when she saw Lorelei in a state of unease. I pulled out my pokedex to get a better feel of this type; cuz I could instantly tell it wasn't a water type. Jynx, the humanshape pokemon. It seductively wiggles its hips as it walks. It can cause people to dance in unison with it. It speaks using a language that sounds human. Research is under way to determine what it being said. There are no known jynx nests in the region.
Interesting… just by looking at the information on my pokedex, I could tell it wasn't a water type like all the other of Lorelei's pokemon. This one was an ice and psychic type, and this would be a tad harder than the others we face, since we have no type advantage with Amber on the field and I wanted to save the others for later in my battles.
"We'll have to be a bit careful with this one Amber, ready?" My pokemon nodded out of the field and her ears peeled back as she prepared to move.
"Start off this battle with blizzard, Jynx!" Lorelei shouted to her pokemon and in return, the human shaped pokemon's eyes glowed and summoned large amounts of cold air and snow that blast all around the battle field. I was grateful that I had Alex's jacket with me; it kept my body warm even with the wind.
I kept my eyes on Amber as the attack came closer and clouded our vision. I soon even lost sight of my pokemon as she and I both braced the cold in this room. I could hear Lorelei snickering from her side of the field.
"Can't handle the cold, Violet?" I rolled my eyes at her comment.
"Could you handle the heat? I bet you wouldn't if I had Amethyst out, but… I'm trying not to use more than one pokemon per battle if I can." I heard her hissing through the snow, or it might have been the wind's howl.
The wind suddenly dispersed and the field was reviled. All water that was once on and around the field was frozen in a thick layer of ice as well as all the walls and floor being covered in snow. I watched worriedly as Amber moved around slightly, while she still had some of a grip on the field, her speed was greatly reduced now with the field being covered in ice and snow, and environment that only Sapphire would be used to completely.
"Lovely kiss, Jynx!" I blinked in confusion as I watched the other side of the field and the jynx kissed the air behind her hands before throwing it out and the kiss became alive with black bat wings on the sides of them and they headed in Amber's direction.
"Out of the way, Amber! She's trying to put you to sleep!" My raichu ducked as the first wave of them just barely flew over her head and she swatted away a couple of them that got quite close to her face. They shattered and dispersed upon hitting them, but their side effects were in the air. Amber leapt back to avoid the left behind gas like flying kiss marks, barely managing to make it out before she needed another breath of air.
It was then that I realized how close that damn pokemon had gotten…
"Use ice punch!" Lorelei's jynx responded quickly and a fist covered in a glossy coat of ice with a mist around it flew at Amber. With her speed she was able to leap out of the way, but her ear was touched, covering the entire thing in a thick layer of ice that also weighed it down.
"Shit…" I hissed to myself, "It's a pain fighting a pokemon like this…"
"I thought you wanted a challenge, Violet?" Lorelei taunted me from the other side of the field. Her jynx helped her out by swaying its hips and grinning at us tauntingly.
"Oh shut it, Lorelei! Like this is a breeze for you? You've already lost three pokemon to my one!" She took a step back from that comment that slapped her in the face. The entire crowd, while it had been cheering the entire time, quieted down and 'oo'd at my statement.
"Bite your tongue!"
"That's always been a hard feature for me, but now back to the battle. Amber, use iron tail!" Even with the slippery ice, Amber was still able to move around well enough and leapt at the ice type pokemon.
Her tail became metallic and incased in iron as she leapt and swung her long tail at the pokemon before us. The jynx flew back and landed before Lorelei. While it was still on the ground, Lorelei seemed to be whispering at it, before it nodded and a large set of thick tears were released from its eyes that I looked at them questioningly for. Amber did the same with her frozen ear bent down.
"Wow…" I muttered under my breath with my pokemon nodding with me. "Hold on for a minute. Amber, let's play her game a moment."
Lorelei laughed on the other side of the field. "I knew 'fake tears' would catch your pokemon! And now that you're caught…"
"Finish it off with thunder, Amber, she's boring me." The entire field lit up as a large lightning bolt that was nearly as big as all three of my largest pokemon came flying down on the jynx. It screeched and suddenly fell to the ground, electrically burnt and a puff of smoke out of its mouth.
Amber turned back to me in question and I simply shrugged at her. "Sorry girl, when they go off about how they have us cornered, it gets me a little impatient. You still okay to go one more time?"
"Rai!" She nodded and turned back to the battlefield with still a lot of pent up energy in her body, ready to be used. While she did have a few close calls in the battle, it didn't really leave her out of breath; it's actually more or less warmed her up for the final battle.
I just hope it will be a good fight for her…
"Damn you, Violet! Never have I been so frustrated with a challenger!" Lorelei returned her jynx with a growling in her throat, "But this time you won't win! I'll crush your pokemon here! Go Lapras!" Out came the large seafaring pokemon that looked identical to my brother's. Its eyes were calm as it landed gently on the battlefield.
Wait a minute; don't Lapras' do better in the water? Why is she setting it up where I could easily hit it? What kind of move does she know?
"Lapras, use sing!" Before I could step in and stop the move, the pokemon was already singing and Amber started to sway on her feet. I rushed to pull my bag around to reach its side and grab the pokeflute I had attached to it. I started to play the melody that I'd played once before for the snorlax and I could see the line of the two attacks trying to cancel each other out.
"Foul! You can't use an item during battle!" I heard some people in the audience shout.
"It's legal! Proceed with the battle!" A referee that stood off to the side that had carefully been watching our battle waved off the comment of the spectators. With the okay in mind, I kept playing and Amber backed up closer to me to avoid the song and hear only the flute.
"Change your tune, Lapras! Perish song!" I squeaked on the flute when I heard that command and the lapras' song changed almost instantly to that of a darker tune that formed black notes in the air that swirled around my pokemon and the lapras. I could see the energy be sucked out of both the pokemon, even after the lapras stopped singing.
"Just hang in there Lapras! So long as you keep going as long as you can, that raichu will call with you!"
"Hurry, Amber! Before you lose all your energy! Take it out with thunder!" Amber's cheeks sparked even more than normal as she sent another blinding lightning attack at the other pokemon. I heard the screeching of the Lapras from the other side of the field and then the cry of my own pokemon from the perish song attack. The field exploded as the notes in the air were destroyed and sent flying away; one even flew only inches from my head. I ducked down to the ground and watched as Lorelei did the same. We both glanced out to the field in wonder as we waited and watched the light slowly start to fade and the field start to take shape.
The heat and power from the electricity had broken up all the ice. The water flowed with pieces of ice in it as it had similarly before it was frozen and out on the field was Amber, and the lapras, both of were covered in bruises and battle wounds, but it seemed like the lapras was worse off. Amber slammed her tail into the ground, disrupting a discharge that was in her body that shocked the lapras again enough to hurt it even more with the paralysis it had. It suddenly fell to the ground and collapsed without any more strength left inside it.
"Lapras is unable to battle! The winner is Amber the victor of this battle is Violet Vilmos of Pallet Town! They move onto the next round!" The crowd around us cheered at the ref's call as soon as it was known that I won.
"Yes! Amber! You were great!" I ran out to my raichu and picked her up off the ground and swung her in my arms. Amber, even though she was in pain, hugged me back and curled into my arms. "Don't worry girl, I'll get you healed up with a couple potions I brought with me while we take a quick break."
"Rai…" she could only nod to me before she fell back to slumber in my arms, tired out from the long battle that she took place in. I took care of my pokeflute and with Amber in my arms; I crossed the field to Lorelei who only glared at me as I approached.
"Hey, Lorelei," she huffed and looked away from me sourly as I got up to her, "I'm sorry."
I saw her blink before she turned back to me in wonder and surprise. "What?" I could understand her disbelief; I was pretty sour to her.
"I'm sorry, for the way I treated you during my battle," I rubbed my hand on the back of my head, "You reminded me a lot of Team Rocket's Rose, the second in command." I sighed and looked down at my feet. "I always tend to get a little sour whenever I see her, and every time we meet up, she tried to kill me. I guess, unconsciously, I was comparing our battle to battling Rose." I paused for a moment. "I wish I could take it all back, but I can't, I just wanted to at least tell you I was sorry, and maybe some time in the future we can have another battle, one where I treat you on better terms."
Lorelei seemed stunned by the moment. "I guess so… I was a bit bitter to you as well; I guess it was because I was so overwhelmed by your power over your pokemon and their power as well. I only got to face your raichu in our entire battle, only one pokemon for the entire battle, that's a powerful feature."
"Well, it's more exciting to keep you guys guessing and on your toes." I grinned.
"Alright you, before we start another debate, get going to the next room; you'll wait for your fight against Bruno there." She jerked her finger at the back door behind her and I waved before I flew by her.
"Okay then! Later, Lorelei!" I heard the crowd cheering as I left the stage. I passed through the door and quickly hurried down the hallway to the next room.
Once I was beyond the first challenge, another waiting room appeared, it was somewhat dark with lights only at the bottom of the room to show where the seats were and where your feet were going. The light's provided light enough to show that these tunnels were actually painted red from the hue of color they gave off in the dark.
There were also not as many people here as there was before Lorelei, so you have to assume that most trainers don't get by her, only a handful at the least and a dozen or two at the most. I giggled when I saw one person stand out among the rest as I entered the room.
"So you did make it through your first battle, good job, I'm sorry I couldn't see it." The boy looked up at me in surprise when he saw me, and scooted over so I could sit.
"Don't worry about it; you had your own battle to mentally prepare yourself for." Alex waved it off and gave me a smile. "So how did your match go?"
"Passed through it with only Amber, she was great. Oh! That reminds me." I pulled out a few potions. I laid her out on my lap and I began to treat her injuries. She hissed slightly when I applied the first potion, but after a little while, she settled into it and curled into my body for a nap.
"Man, she looks like she took a beating…" he whistled as he looked her over.
"Well, she did fight all five of Lorelei's pokemon on her own. It's been a long while since she's done that." I returned Amber into her pokeball for the time being. "What about your match?"
"I needed a couple pokemon to beat her, I really wanted to try and save Zapdos for later if I could, and I didn't want to bring him out until I really needed him or I was really far into the Elite Four."
"That's about what I was thinking, too," I sat back against the wall and crossed a leg over the other, "I'm thinking I might use Zircon and Ruby for the next battle."
"Why's that? I thought he was just a fighting type trainer? I know that dragons would have a lot of stamina and power, even at Zircon's age and evolution stage, but would that not be a good choice?"
"While I was waiting for my battle with Lorelei, I overhead someone saying something about him having an onix, Zircon would be the best choice against him with being a dragon type and having water type moves, then Ruby can handle the rest of them with some of her flying type moves and a few bug moves too."
"Hm… thanks for that info. That might help me a bit; at least I'll know to send out Blastoise for that."
"No prob. Anything to help."
"Might as well take a nap, Vi, it'll be a while before we get to battle Bruno." I nodded to him and sighed. I ended up leaning on his shoulder and curling into a ball before I fell asleep again.
HalloweenWitchHalloweenWitch
"Violet Vilmos!" I was startled awake when I heard my name and I turned up against the body I felt next to me. At first I thought it was Alex since he'd been their last before I'd fallen to slumber, but in place of him was my brother, who was nudging me, awake.
"Mornin' Sis, you're up again." I rubbed my eyes as he helped me sit up.
"Did Alex already go?"
"Yeah, he left a little while ago and asked that I sit in his place so you wouldn't wake up." He jerked his finger at the doors, "You better hurry up to your match Sis; I'll see you in a bit."
"Thanks, Vince." I shook the sleep off my body and returned Amber to her pokeball from where she slept on my lap and I hurried up to the next guard that checked to make sure I was who I said. He then nodded to me and allowed me access into the next room.
Once I arrived inside, I nearly choked on the difference in temperature in the air. It was almost suffocating me. As I made my way onto a platform that seemed to be hanging over lava that flowed beneath the room, I saw training equipment on the other side.
A man stood there as well, his chest was bare, but filled with millions of muscles that went all the way up from the top of his neck to the tips of his fingers and toes. His hair was a grayish black that was pulled back and messy, spiky, and out of order. His only clothing was a white pair of sweat pants that looked to be torn around his ankles, but added to them seemed to be weights of some kind on all his limbs and waist.
"So my next challenger is the famous Violet Vilmos, eh?" The man grinned on his side of the field and flexed his many muscles at me, "I am Bruno Payden of the Elite Four; I train together with my pokemon so that we may both become stronger over time. And here's the thing Violet Vilmos, I don't like to talk much, so allow me to battle you and crush you into the ground with our power!"
"Now this is more my style! A man of few words, you're after my own heart, Bruno." I laughed and jokingly placed a hand over my chest before I pulled out a pokeball. "Show me what you got!"
He grinned, "I intend to! Let's go Onix!" The rock snake like pokemon came first from his side of the field and actually looked larger than your average onix. I saw some sort of scaring on its head and it roared at me, ready for our fight.
"Good, I was hoping this pokemon would come out first." I threw out my pokeball. "Let's go, Zircon!" Out came my tiny dragon type pokemon and he was raring to go as he bounced on his tail excitedly and looked up to his opponent. He wasn't fazed by the size of the onix and looked back at me, waiting on my order.
"First move to the challenger," Bruno grunted at me.
"Fine by me, surf Zircon!" From all the heat in the air, it brought along a lot of steam and moisture, that water was dragged together to form a tidal wave that slammed down on the field and hit the onix head on, while it didn't take out the opposing pokemon completely, it did cool off the field a bit and temporarily seal off the lava, cooling the temperature in the air.
"What an interesting little trick," Bruno snorted off the attack, "But it'll take more than that to beat my onix! We've worked together for years to help him adapt to water so it didn't affect him as much!"
"It still doesn't mean that didn't hurt him." I gestured to the pokemon on his side of the field that breathed heavily from the attack. Its body was still wet and you could hear the grinding of its rocks, it didn't sound too entirely pleasant.
"Yes, but he didn't go down," Bruno's grin never seemed to falter, "Now Onix! Let's start out with rock slide!" The onix roared again and suddenly hit the wall on one side of the field with its tail, effectively knocking down parts of it to roll and hit Zircon. He screeched and leapt around the field to avoid the scattering rocks. To make matters worse, the onix would hit the rocks again if they came close to it and it shattered them into millions of pieces that bombarded upon Zircon.
"Alright, enough of this ponyta-play, Zircon use whirlpool! Collect the rocks and throw it all at the onix!" A steaming whirlpool of hot water came from the humid air and swirled around Zircon. With him protected inside it and could easily use the current to avoid the rocks that were collected, Bruno's attack became virtually useless now before Zircon threw the giant wave of water filled with rocks at the onix. Not only was the water super effective to the rock body of the onix, but with the rocks inside it as well, it made it very dangerous and painful for the onix to face a barrage of rocks as well as its most hated enemy, water.
Bruno hissed lightly at me as he watched his powerful and large pokemon fall before tiny Zircon's power. My dragon pokemon cheered as it thought its battle was done and hopped on its tail; he wagged it happily and looked back at me with a grin. Suddenly he stopped and his happy look at me and it became more surprised as he looked himself over. His body then glowed before he cried out and sang while his body then turned white entirely.
"Zircon?" My dragon pokemon didn't respond to me as his singing got more elegant and a lot deeper and he nearly quadrupled in length and the white frills on the side of his head swirled move and became a tad larger and longer before I saw some sort of circular shape appear on the area just below his chin.
The white soon went away and his color was reviled to be a darker blue, no purple in his scales any longer. His eyes were still the same beady, large and dark onyx color they were before, but now his body was extremely long to the point where he could wrap around me a few many times before he'd finally constrict me. A small blue orb that glowed in the light was under his chin and a small horn appeared on his head. Another set of those blue orbs appeared on the end of his tail, almost looking like a fancy rattle.
I pulled out my pokedex to find out what my little dratini had evolved into. Dragonair, the dragon pokemon and the evolved form of dratini. Dragonair is a mystical pokemon that exudes a gentle aura. It's said to have the ability to change the weather upon command. Even though it has no wings, it has been seen flying on occasion. Dragonair are hardly ever seen and any nests they have are hidden in the deepest of waters.
Zircon cried out happily and ended his singing and looked to me for approval.
"Better late than never Zircon, good job on your evolution," my dragon pokemon merely grinned at me and flew back over at me quickly to nuzzle its face in my chest and arms. "Zircon! As much as I'd love to play with you, we have a battle to win first!"
"Go Onix! Iron tail!" As a metallic tail came flying at us, Zircon leapt right back into the battle, countering the metal like tail with an identical one of his own. I had to blink my eyes and pinch my skin to be sure I wasn't dreaming.
"Nice Zircon! Now let's finish up this battle with dragon rage!" My newly evolved dragon pokemon complied and screeched at the target before it and the multi-colored attack struck its target with speed that I'd only seen from my more experienced pokemon. The onix was thrown back from the attack and landed on its back with its tail landing on top of it, slamming down with the effects of its attack, iron tail, still in play. I cringed as I saw it take the hit and turned away, Zircon doing the same thing and hiding his eyes behind his tail. "That had to hurt."
"Ruu…" Zircon agreed with a nodding of his head.
Bruno snorted at us from across the field. "Lucky break kid, let's see if your baby dragon can face my next pokemon however!" Onix was quickly returned and out came another pokeball that he threw into the air. "Go Hitmonlee!"
From the pokeball he threw came a medium sized pokemon that almost reminded me of a rounded chocolate coated ice cream bar, but he had eyes that were accented with black edges and thin arms that seemed to be wrapped in bandages from the wrist to the shoulder. Its hands only had three fingers and seemed to be much smaller compared to the lower half of its body. Its legs were also bandaged from the waist to the ankles and then came its large feet that were nearly as big as its head. Each foot was padded thickly with muscles and had three claws like nails on the ends of each of the feet for toes. As soon as this pokemon landed on the ground, its feet were moving, bouncing back and forth in its spot. I pulled out my pokedex to look up such a strange pokemon.
Hitmonlee, the kicking pokemon. Its legs stretch and contract. Using these spring like limbs, it bowls over foes with devastating kicks. After battle, it rubs down its tired legs. There are no known hitmonlee nests in the area, but there is an apparent rivalry known between them and hitmonchans.
Rivalry? I blinked at the information and hurried to pull out another pokeball. "Okay Zircon, I'm gonna save you for later, okay? Save your strength for later battles when I need you." My newly evolved dragon nodded and I withdrew him back into the pokeball. "Now let's go Ruby! Wipe the floor with the rest of his team!" With another pokeball in my hands, I threw it out and from it came my large bug type pokemon. Ruby's scythes looked extra sharp for this battle and she was ready to take on some muscle-heads. Her red eyes glared out onto the battle field and then she smirked at her opponent. Waving off her scythe like arm at it.
The opposing pokemon seemed to get pretty pissed at that and its jumping became a little harder, I could see the extra strain it was putting on its legs to prepare to jump. I rolled my eyes and looked over at its trainer on the other side who'd yet to say a word to me since he let out his pokemon. "You can have the first move," I offered to him.
He raised his eyebrow and his pokemon for a split second stopped moving. Bruno quickly shook his head and I saw him flex his muscles on his side of the field. "Alright then, Hitmonlee start off with high jump kick!"
The pokemon leapt into the air in mid command from Bruno and spun around before its foot glowed as he aimed it right at Ruby and started to come back down at her. I snorted, that attack wouldn't hurt Ruby in the slightest, not with her scythes around.
Ruby brought forward her warms to defend and the foot got through the blades to my surprise, but then was stuck. I blinked and then grinned at my stroke of good luck and Ruby glanced back for my order. "Why don't you play 'slash' with it, Ruby?"
I saw the wicked grin appear on her face and she released the pokemon only for a split second before she threw her arm forward and a powerful, white slash appeared in the air that hit the hitmonlee in the stomach before it was thrown into the wall right behind Bruno. He gasped and turned around, watching his pokemon be severely damaged from the blow and some blood seeping out of the wound from where the slash hit directly.
At that close range, how could it not be a direct hit?
"Return Hitmonlee… your brother shall avenge you." Bruno brought out another pokeball and threw it out onto the field. From this one came a pro boxer like pokemon, but it was short and skinny. Bright red gloves covered its large hands while its feet and legs were extremely tiny in comparison. It almost looked like it had a crown growing under its skin on the top of its head, going backward. Purple clothing covered its chest and upper legs while purple shoes were on its tiny feet. I pulled out the pokedex for some answers.
Hitmonchan, the punching pokemon. The spirit of a pro boxer is said to have infused with this pokemon. It throws punches that are faster than a bullet train that are impossible to see. It is unknown where any hitmonchan nests are in the area, but there is an apparent rivalry between them and hitmonlees.
So that's the rival huh? Let's see what it can take!
"Let's start off, Ruby! Head in and attack with fury cutter!" My bug type pokemon pushed hard against the ground with her feet to glide on her wings and hurry to the enemy pokemon. She started to hack away at it with her blades that were lightly glowing green at the time. The other pokemon was nowhere nearly as fast as Ruby and fell prey to every swipe she made at it. It cried out as she knocked it to the ground with the back of her blade.
"Don't give up Hitmonchan! Use ice punch!"
Well I wasn't expecting that… I watched as a fist of ice ran up under Ruby's jaw and ended up getting her right where it was tender. She cried out and was pushed up into the air. She shook of the melting ice that had momentarily formed there.
"Now follow it up with fire and thunder punch!"
What the hell… it knows those moves too? I watched in sheer annoyance and impression as the pokemon had one fist on fire and the other covered in electrical sparks. Ruby used her speed and flying abilities to her advantage to get up into the air and out of its way while it was throwing them around. The pokemon glared up at Ruby with an intensity I hadn't seen in a while and she glared back with just as much feeling.
Now I have to think a bit, if I get in too close with an attack and Ruby, she could get hit with a super effective move to either of her types. I have to figure out a way to cause a whole bunch of damage without her getting in too close. The only distance attack she really knows is silver wind… wait a minute, silver wind ignites when brought together with a spark or flame! But that means it's gonna get a bit messy in here with that info…
"Alright Ruby! Head back down and circle around the hitmonchan, and be ready attack and scramble out of there at any time!" My bug pokemon nodded and few down and around the hitmonchan in a circle with only a few feet of distance between the two of them. The pokemon tried to send a few punches at Ruby, but she was moving so fast, none of them connected.
"Damn you Violet, Hitmonchan! Use thunder punch!" The pokemon agreed and its fist began to spark…
Just what I was waiting for!
"Now Ruby! Silver wind while you're still circling and then get out of there!" The glittery powder slide off her wings and circled around the fighting type pokemon almost like it was a mini tornado.
"No Hitmonchan! Stop you attack or the powder will ignite!" Somehow Bruno had figured out my plan and his pokemon stopped the sparking in its hand, but one spark was all it took, and one bounced off its glove as it started to power done. Needless to say, the explosion sent off was ginormous and it swallowed the hitmonchan whole, mercilessly. The fire glittered as it glowed brighter from Ruby's silver wind that was being eaten up and I was more than willing to bet that the pokemon wasn't still able to battle.
The fire soon cleared, a small line of smoke rising from the field where the hitmonchan lied unable to battle, its body burned to a crisp and x's over its eyes.
"Nice job, Ruby!" I waved up to my bug pokemon and she nodded with a grin before she landed before me on the ground, giving her wings a quick rest before the next battle. Bruno could only stair in disbelief as he returned his pokemon to its pokeball.
"And now I only have one left," He twiddled a small ball in the middle of his large fingers, "Are you ready for this one, Violet Vilmos? It's my most powerful pokemon out of my entire team."
"I was born ready for anything you can think to throw at me," I could only grin at him with anticipation, "Hit me with your best shot!
"Very well, but I warned you!" Bruno sighed before a serious and determined look on his face appeared before he threw out a pokeball, "Let's go Machamp!"
The large muscular pokemon with four arms suddenly came out from a white beam of light. It flexed its muscles as Bruno had a short while back and I rolled my eyes as this pokemon. It had to be his first once since it acted so much like him.
"I plan to go first this time, Violet. No more playing around!" He threw his large arm out before him, "Now let's start off with dynamic punch!"
I was surprised that this pokemon even had that much speed to end up before Ruby in the next second. I was frozen in my spot as she idly stood there with her arms held down by a pair of the four arms form the fighting type. It threw one of its fists at her (that wasn't holding her in place) and it hit her square in the jack. Ruby veered back, but she stood on her feet, though I saw a bit of a sway in her step. She shook her head multiple times and I saw a slight tint of red as she was shaking her head.
Taruos shit! She's confused!
"Ruby! Calm down and take deep breaths! You're confused! If you attack in this state you might not hit the machamp and could hit something or someone else!" I saw she was listening to me, but she still seemed to be having a hard time obeying my commands.
"Not this time, Violet! Machamp, grab on to that bug and use seismic toss!" Before Ruby could recover, the opposing machamp grabbed Ruby with its four arms and with her tightly secured, it leapt up into the air, almost hitting the ceiling before it turned them heads toward the ground and fell to crash into the ground. The machamp let go just in the nick of time to get out of the way of the attack, but Ruby wasn't so lucky. Still under the effects of her confusion form the last attack, she was unable to move against the attack.
"Ruby!" I screamed over and threw the smoke, hoping she'd be alright and able to hear me. I saw no movement in the dust cloud.
"Finally! I've gotten some headway against you, Violet Vilmos!" Bruno cheered to himself from across the field. He pumped his fist as so did his pokemon, "You can't beat us!"
I saw a shadow from within the dust cloud for a second before it disappeared. When I didn't hear a sound that followed it other than Bruno's laughter with his pokemon, I grinned. "You wanna bet on that Bruno?"
His laughter stopped and he glanced at what I was talking about. The dust cloud disappeared and thus came Ruby, a few bruises and scratches on her, but otherwise fine and ready to battle. Bruno blinked fearfully before he stiffened at her appearance.
"But… but how?" He stuttered and his pokemon was jaw dropped, "She should hardly be standing!"
"Ruby's much tougher than she appears, she's not about to go down by one single move. You'll need to do much better, right, Ruby?"
My scythe nodded. "Scy!" She raised her blades and prepared for the next tango with machamp.
"Damn…" Bruno hissed out between his clenched teeth. "Machamp, let's get this bug out of our ring! Use karate chop!" The pokemon hissed as its muscles seemed to expand and contract while it stood in its spot. It then leapt up into the air above Ruby and one of its hands glowed white and was thrusted down on the spot she was standing on.
"Dodge, Ruby!" My bug pokemon easily glided on her wings from the wind that was produced by the raging pokemon. Its fist hit the ground and it created a large indent where the ground sunk in from the strike. It glared at Ruby as it looked up from where its fist landed.
"Again!" Bruno shouted.
"Keep it up, Ruby!" I called out to give her encouragement.
It wasn't until now that I heard the roaring crowd above me, I'd been so focused on the battle that I'd hardly noticed them at all. They were cheering like their lives depended on it for both Bruno, me, and our pokemon. Our family had also followed us to watch the match. I saw my mother crying in her seat with an overjoyed smile on her face.
'Win it,' I saw her mouth to me. I gave her a thumbs up and turned back to my battle, blocking everything out that I didn't need to focus on and looked over at Ruby.
"Cross chop, machamp!" Bruno cried out and now two arms of the pokemon's were used to attack Ruby with, but she still easily evaded them without a hitch. Bruno was getting more frustrated with every attack that missed and clenched his fist.
"Alright, Ruby, use slash!" The blade of her arm raced forward with the bend of her elbow and hit the pokemon right on the mark and sent it flying back into the wall behind Bruno. He turned back to look at it and gritted his teeth. I saw his machamp emerge from the hole, but it wasn't in the best condition.
I watched as Bruno muttered some words to his pokemon, which only looked back at him sadly. Tears slid from his eyes before he outright screamed out and glared at me while his pokemon took its spot on the battle field.
"We won't survive, Violet Vilmos. You've fought this battle well and I have no choice but to allow you through. However," I blinked, "However, that doesn't mean I'm not going to try and slow you down for my comrades! Face my final move Violet Vilmos, and may only the most powerful stand! Machamp, use revenge!"
A dark and fearful feeling crept through the air as the warm air froze around us and suddenly chilled. The world almost seemed to turn dark as only Bruno and Machamp appeared in my vision. The opposing pokemon itself seemed to be covered in a black and red aura that rapidly spun and weaved its way around its body. All four of its fists turned bright red as well as its eyes and it leapt at Ruby with a speed that could only match hers when she was most serious. Ruby barely dodged the first attack as it came at her. Her eyes were wide as she jumped backwards and out of the way, but the enemy pokemon was right on her heels. It kept lunching punches at her, most of them missing, and the rest were only nicking the edge of her thick bug armor.
"Ruby! End it with silver wind! Encircle yourself in your attack!" I screeched out at her to try and keep her safe from the raging pokemon. Her wings lit up like the night sky's stars and moon before her wings batted and a sudden gust of the silvery wind came zooming off her wings and threw the enemy pokemon back, once again hitting the wall, though this time in the corner behind myself.
Ruby then suddenly flew over to me and stood protectively before me with her arms crossed as she waited to see if the pokemon was still on its feet or not. The dust cloud prevented us from seeing the pokemon. As the next minute passed, feeling as if it were hours instead, we saw the collapsed figure of the pokemon known as machamp.
"Machamp is unable to battle! Ruby is the winner and the victor of this battle is Violet Vilmos of Pallet Town!" the ref called it out, "They move onto the next round!" The crowd erupted in cheers; my family's being some of the strongest from where I stood. I looked from them over to Bruno, but he simply walked over to his equipment and healed his pokemon, motioning me to move on ahead.
"Thanks, Bruno, thanks for an awesome battle." He didn't give me a reply other than a simple wave before he continued with what he was doing. I rushed by him to the other side of the field and walked through the door to the next waiting room.
The next waiting room was dimly pained a grey purple, which with the dim lighting created an eerie atmosphere. It was a dead giveaway that Agatha was next. The room was smaller than the others in size and what not, due to the fact that Bruno must weed out most trainers by this point. I saw only two people in the room waiting for a battle with Agatha, some random boy, and Alex.
Alex looked like he was about to dose off when I sat down next to him shook him. He startled up at looked at me tiredly. "Hey, don't dose off on me just yet Oak; you still have another three battles left."
He rubbed his eyes and yawned. "Hey Vi," He let out a large yawn and blinked as his eyes watered a bit, "Sorry, these battles seem to be taking a lot of energy out of me, that and I didn't sleep the best last night."
"That isn't like you; did Vince and I keep you up?"
"No, I just was too excited to sleep, so I didn't go to bed until four."
"Vince and I were up all night, but it doesn't seem to be affecting us. Don't know why though."
"It doesn't matter, Vi," he waved it off, "Hey, I'm gonna catch a quick snooze, so do me a favor and wake me up when it's my turn, okay?"
"No problem. Vince'll probably show up while you're sleeping though."
"If I'm lucky, he won't."
HalloweenWitchHalloweenWitch
"Violet Vilmos!" My name was called again and I stood up from my seat. I had already healed all my pokemon and Alex had gone for his match. He was unlucky though, since Vince showed up just like I said he would. He laughed his ass off when he saw Alex sleeping on my shoulder, which as most could assume it woke him right up and the two of them started to bicker. I could only roll my eyes at them while I rested for my next match.
Alex had been called up before me again, already headed off to his next match with Agatha a while back. I have no idea how he did, but now it's my turn to face her.
"Knock her dead, Sis, good luck." Vince gave me a thumbs up as I stood, nodding to him and headed out to the next room. Security checked me over again before they let me pass like the last few times.
Once I was in the other room, I felt a chill run right down my spine. The entire room was filled with a thick fog and grave stones seemed to cover a large portion of the sides of the battle field, with a few large ones actually in the perimeter inside. An elderly woman with medium length cut hair; pale platinum blond, in a maroon old style dress that covered almost every inch of her skin other than her face and hands. She held a cane in her hands that she had out before her, both her hands sitting atop of it while her eyes were closed. They opened once I was inside and she gave me an eerie smile.
"So, I finally get to face the prodigy of Samuel Oak? Welcome to my battlefield Violet Vilmos, I am Agatha." The old woman stepped forward quietly on the battlefield to her spot on her side of the field, "Did that old coot ever tell you of his days as a trainer?"
"A few times, but not too often, it was my Dad that told me more about his life with pokemon rather than the professor."
Why did she want to know that?
"Figures… that old coot never changes." She sighed and reached into her dress pocket, pulling out a pokeball and twiddling it in her hands. "He was once a strong and handsome man you know, incredibly strong too. He was my rival and my closest friend."
"Was?" I questioned the woman, "What happened to change that?"
"His damn pokedex, that's what!" A sudden rage filled her dark eyes before she seemed to calm herself and lift her cane once before placing back down on the ground, "Once he saw how many pokemon there were in the world, his dream suddenly changed to find out everything about them, and while that had and never will bother me, he gave up being a trainer, that's what irked me the most."
"Everyone has their own dream, Agatha, even if it's not a dream you want him to have." It seemed my reasoning had no effect on her as she shook her head.
"I never was bothered by him being a researcher, but he never battled after he took upon this dream, he never gives into the temptation of a battle to see who is the strongest anymore, he only plays with that thing you carry around that he invented," I saw her lift the cane from the ground and while it was still in one of her hands, she pulled at her hair, "It makes me mad just thinking about it!"
She sighed and released her hair, allowing her body to take upon the poison she'd been in just a moment before. "But that has nothing to do with our battle, as I'm sure you know, too. But let me do you a favor, Violet Vilmos," she tossed the pokeball up into the air and out came a ghastly that licked its lips hungrily at me and the battle that was about to take place; "Let me show you how much fun and pleasure that idiot gave up!"
"Fine by me, I love a good battle! Let's go, Chalcedony!" Out from my luxury ball came my little normal type which Agatha seemed to hiss at before she gave me a grin.
"Not a bad choice, seeing how now my attack power and amount of moves I could have used against you are now virtually reduced to half." Her eyes then turned cold and daring, "Normally I give first move to the challenger, but I think I'll mix it up a bit. Ghastly, use lick!" The pokemon suddenly faded from sight and we looked around constantly for it in this thick fog, but now with the ghost type on the field, it seemed as if it had gotten thicker somehow.
Though having a lot for experience dealing with these ghost types, that tended to attack me quite often, I could feel their pattern. Wait, that didn't come out right, let me rephrase that. I had a way of sensing where they were after being attack by Rose's Gengar and when it was still a haunter. It's like I developed a sixth sense of sorts.
I suddenly felt something jolt my heart; I instantly looked to the right. I saw a faint outline of something in the fog. I squinted at it and I suddenly saw that it moved.
"Chalcedony! Shadow ball to the right!" My normal type fired of a black and purple colored sphere without a hitch that hit dead on and sent the pokemon flying back into the wall. It suddenly appeared, its body becoming visible again. It had x's over its eyes. Either Chalcedony was stronger now or that ghastly was weaker than I thought it'd be.
"Wow, that was shorter than I thought I'd be," I sighed, "But it certainly gave me a rush. Ghost types aren't exactly my favorite with their attack curse and what not."
"Dually noted," Agatha nodded, "I know that ghastly was hardly a fight for you, but he's only a youngling, a couples years old at most, his sister is stronger than him, and their mother is the strongest of all three, can you face the other two?"
"I won't know unless I try," I bounced a bit on my legs, Chalcedony doing the same thing to keep from losing his concentration and focus, "Bring it on!"
"Let's go then, Haunter! Avenge your brother!" Out came the second evolution of the pokemon breed and its eyes for some strange reason was angry at me, probably for beating its brother. "Attack with hypnosis!"
The pokemon disappeared much like its younger brother had just a few moments ago. I had to use my other senses again to feel the haunter as it traveled about the field. I suddenly felt the ache in my heart. The area before us?
"Chalcedony, close your eyes!" The pokemon suddenly appeared inches from his face and commenced the attack with glowing red eyes while Chalcedony had his closed. When the pokemon and Agatha realized it wasn't working, the attack was halted. "Now use shadow ball!"
A small, quickly formed ball of dark energy was the sent out of Chalcedony's mouth and hit the opposing pokemon, sending it flying into the opposing wall from where Chalcedony was. I saw my normal type peak through one of his eyes to see what had happened and looked at the haunter that was in the wall.
I grinned. "Go after it, Chalcedony! Iron tail!" Chalcedony raced to the other side of the field with its tail becoming metallic and he flipped into the air to hit the head first on the ghost pokemon that was only starting to come to.
"Phase through the wall and come back to me, Haunter!" I hissed as the pokemon faded away and Chalcedony was left alone where he stood. The haunter reappeared on the other side of the field next to Agatha and Chalcedony came back to me. He snorted and scratched his paws against the ground, waiting for the next move. Agatha was whispering to her pokemon, it was almost nerve-wreaking to watch the action take place and not know what was going on. And it wasn't like I could just keep going with the battle; I could hurt the old woman. I don't really want to add a notion of violence to my record along with everything else that's there.
"Alright then, let's try something different. Use shadow punch Haunter!" The pokemon once again disappeared and faded into the air and I had to rely on my own instincts once again to find that thing.
"It'll most likely come at the front Chalcedony," I whispered to him. "Be ready to use a bite attack and latch onto it, okay?" My pokemon showed me his agreement with the swishing of his tail being up and down rather than a normal swish at the sides.
I closed my eyes and let my sixth sense take over as I waited to see what exactly was going to happen. I could feel it on the field, the haunter was there, but it kept bouncing all over the place, making it hard to tell where it was. My heart and sixth sense were working on overdrive to try and find it before a possible curse attack could come forth, but apparently it wanted to wait us out.
I suddenly felt a large cold shiver run down the back of my heart and I turned on my heels just in time for the pokemon to phase through me and go for Chalcedony's back side.
"Chalcedony! Behind you!" My pokemon pushed off the ground, pushing itself back and opening his eyes to see the haunter before his face and sending a fist right at him. "Now boy!"
Chalcedony's mouth opened wide and his teeth seemed larger somehow as they latched onto the hand of the haunter. Normally a haunter can send its hand away from its body for anything, but since it was trying to use an attack, the entire body had to stay connected together. We both grinned as the haunter and Agatha gasped.
"Now Chalcedony! Shadow ball!" With the ghost hand still in his mouth, Chalcedony fired off a shadow ball that he managed to slip through his teeth and it hit the haunter's face. Chalcedony then let go and the pokemon then fell out of his mouth. The haunter had x's over its eyes and nearly phased through the floor when Agatha returned it.
"My team of ghosts are usually better than this," Agatha muttered as she looked at us. "I can see why Oak has taken such an interest in you Violet, you are quiet the trainer, even for a girl as young as yourself." She pulled out a final pokeball that seemed to be quite old; in fact, it almost looked like it'd been through hell and back from the stains and marks on it. "But I still have one more pokemon left and I will do everything in my power to stop you, or even one of your pokemon! Let's go Gengar!"
Out came the pokemon that looked just like the beast that I often faced when I met up with Rose. It grinned and laughed as it saw me and floated up into the air before Agatha. The two of them shared a look before Agatha averted her eyes and then looked back out the battlefield.
"Confuse ray Gengar!" The ghost pokemon started out with a small ball of sparkling light that it threw over at Chalcedony. He took the hit with no problem, easily getting back to his feet, but soon after he ended up with red glowing eyes and started to sway on his feet.
"Chalcedony-!"
"Not this time Violet! Gengar use hypnosis!" Gengar suddenly appeared before Chalcedony and while he couldn't do a thing to protect himself or avoid the attack, the gengar's eyes glowed a light blue and suddenly Chalcedony fell to the ground, totally out of it and asleep.
"Damn it!" I hissed to myself. "Chalcedony wake up!"
My calling was useless. He couldn't hear a thing.
"Now Gengar, while it sleeps! Dream eater!" The gengar flew backwards and its body glowed while it pointed its stubby little arms at Chalcedony who could only lie in his sleep on the floor. The gengar continued to steal his energy away and my pokemon could do nothing. I could only watch from the sidelines and watch helplessly.
So this is how she crushes her opponents, when she uses her gengar, she has it use confuse ray to first throw it off its game, especially if it's a powerful one like Chalcedony who could beat it in only a minute or so depending on certain factors. Then she uses hypnosis, since it can't think for itself at that moment, obey commands or defend itself, and puts it right to sleep to keep it from attacking. Then the final step is that she uses dream eater to suck out the energy from the opposing pokemon to weaken them, so even if they do manage to wake up, they'll be too tired from the short nap they got and their energy sucked out of them to really put of a fight… What a strategy…
So I have to wake him up… that's right! I have the pokeflute! I quickly reached for the said item and inserted its lip piece into my mouth and played. I saw Chalcedony's ears twitch at the music and I saw him slowly start to open his eyes. He blinked a few times and the energy that was being stolen from him stopped and cut off, now that he was no longer asleep. The gengar shied back and floated back into the fog, effectively disappearing.
"Damn! And just when I'd gotten you out of that mess Chalcedony. You doin' alright?" My pokemon glanced back at me slightly tired like and nodded.
This was not going to end well…
"Good job Gengar, keep it up!" Agatha complimented her pokemon. "Now attack with focus punch!"
"It knows that kind of move too?" I cursed to myself as I looked around for any sign of that damn ghost. Even though I knew I couldn't see it, it was just force of habit as I then switched to my sixth sense to try and find it. As soon as it would come close enough, I'd feel it, but would it be too late by then?
There was only one way to find out really. "Hang in there for me Chalcedony; we'll make it through this!" My pokemon nodded and kept his eyes out on the field as we prepared to face the attack.
It certainly was taking its time, that gengar of Agatha's. I couldn't sense it anywhere with my sixth sense. Chalcedony was getting on edge as he waited on my signal that was taking forever to come.
"Damn it, where is that thing?" I kept looking and feeling out to every corner of the field. Not even a jolt passed through my heart. "It's not like you'd leave the battle…"
Then it hit me, ghosts types can phase through objects and walls and what not, even people if they need to. It could be in the walls, it could be in the ceiling, hell, it could be inside the graves waiting until I don't look where it is. It could literally come from any direction… at any time…
I then felt a chilling sensation hit the top of my heart and I looked above. There was the pokemon, dropping down to the battlefield above Chalcedony. My eyes widened as I saw its fist glowing in a white light.
"Chalcedony! Use shadow ball above you!" My pokemon and I both looked above to see the pokemon startled by my finding it sooner than expected and tried to move away and hide again, but Chalcedony let loose a purple and black ball that hit it right in the back and threw it into the ceiling. It fell to the ground on Agatha's side of the field and she hissed at me.
"I guess we have no other option Gengar, we'll have to take it out with us!" Agatha threw her cane to the side and her eyes lit up, livid with her anger. "Destiny bond!"
I watched as multiple chain like things emerged from the gengar's body and were thrown at Chalcedony, entangling him and attaching themselves into his skin. He cried out and tried to shake them off, but they only held on tighter. Agatha looked extremely smug as she looked at the situation.
"Now Gengar! Use explosion!" I gasped as the pokemon's body became white and suddenly a large set of explosions came from its body and spread along the room. But that was the least of my worries.
The move destiny bond is a move that connects the life force of two pokemon and if one of them goes down, so does the other. If Chalcedony can't break free, they'll both be taken down! And I might need his help in the last couple battles!
The explosion hardly touched Chalcedony, just like I thought it would, while it destroyed most of the field and stayed up as it had swallowed the gengar whole, the chains from the destiny bond suddenly turned red and the coloring was coming closer and gaining on Chalcedony.
"Hurry, Chalcedony! Use shadow ball on the chains to break them!"
No later had I gotten the order out to my pokemon did the light of the explosion swallow everything inside it, including my pokemon and myself and Agatha on the other side of the field. I then felt the ground shaking madly below us, light an earthquake had hit just beneath our feet (and those are not fun to deal with mind you!)
A sudden sound of an almost glass breaking reached my ears, flying under the sound of the roaring explosion and the quake that stopped on a few moments after it started. The light started to dim, but as it did, a wave of some sort of forced seemed to knock me over. I landed on my ass, and quickly looked back to the field to see what had happened.
The first thing that I saw was my pokemon, Chalcedony seemed out of breath, but for the most part, he actually seemed fine rather than hurt. The other side of the field soon reviled itself to me, and showed Agatha had fallen from the same force I had. Her pokemon, which was laid out on the ground on the other side of the field, was covered in a thick layer of black ash from the explosion. The field was also covered in the same residue, and graves had been destroyed and vaporized in the process.
"Gengar is unable to battle! Chalcedony is the winner and the victor of this battle is Violet Vilmos of Pallet Town!" a ref from the sidelines called that I didn't even know was there until now. I blinked a few times as I heard the cheering of the crowd and the world that was around our battle suddenly came to life. I could hear the screeching cries from my family the loudest over them all as they waved down at me with large smiles on their faces.
I was going on to face the last of the Elite Four, if I beat Lance… I'd be the champion…
"You gave me a good battle Violet; I've never been bested so well by a trainer in a very long time… not since… not since Sam…" Agatha complimented me on the other side of the field. I quickly returned Chalcedony while congratulating him and hurried over to her to help her off the ground since she had yet to get up. "I'm glad I got to have a battle like that again… I can see why now that idiot took a liking to you, he chose right like always…" She turned to the door behind her and motioned me toward it. "Go, face the last of us and give us a champion we can be proud of."
"I will, Agatha." I shook the woman's hand and hurried off past her through the door she had motioned too.
In the hallway that was right before the last of the Elite Four, Lance, the room was brightly lit and very small compared to the waiting rooms for the other three members. But then again, I was the only on here. I was willing to bet that Lance hardly ever had a battle compared to the other members who probably saw at least one person a day while he only got one every now and then. Not even Alex was here now, I had no idea if he won or lost or if he was still battling now…
"Miss Vilmos?" A man stood at the door that led to the next area, "If you would please wait a few minutes or so, Lance is still in a battle at the moment, take this time to rest your pokemon and get them ready for your final battle."
I nodded to the man and sat down. I hoped Alex was doing alright…
HalloweenWitchHalloweenWitch
"Violet Vilmos!" The man called me back after nearly half an hour of waiting, whoever was battling before me; they must have had a tough battle with Lance. The man at the door had nothing better to do then check my number earlier, so this time he just let me right through.
When I walked out of the waiting room, I saw there was a long walk way before I reached an elevated battlefield surrounded by a large lake. I was outside for the most part; I could feel the cold breeze slightly from the mountains all around us. Once again, I was thankful for having Alex's jacket as I walked down the torch lit stone path.
At the end of the path, there was a large coliseum like structure that was entirely open to the elements. Thousands of people were situated in all the seats, leaving no area empty. Fans were going nuts as I approached, but I also saw many young girls screaming out the name of the dragon trainer, Lance, head of the Elite Four. He stood there at the top and on his side of the battle field.
"I've been waiting for you to arrive, Violet," he began to speak as I approached and climbed the stairs to his summit; "You've been a great help to everyone in this region by riding it of Team Rocket. People and pokemon everywhere are thankful for what you've done. But complimenting you is not the only thing I've been waiting to do."
He paused for a moment or so while I climbed a few more stairs, finally reaching the top and stepping into my box on the other side of the field, totally ready for a battle with the master of dragons.
"You're here to battle me and prove that you are the strongest trainer in this region, and I am prepared to face you to see if you are. Never has the Elite Four been bested quite like you have bested us my dear, you've hardly used one or two pokemon for an entire battle with each of my comrades, and there are still two of your team members that we've yet to see. Do I get the honor of facing them?"
"I guess I don't really have the choice, most of my pokemon are tired from their battles, and I only have one left that still has some energy left, but not enough for an entire battle by him, so I guess I have no choice." I pulled out my snow covered pokeball and threw it out onto the field, "Let's go, Sapphire!"
Out came my ice type legendary pokemon, who screeched when she hit the stage. Everyone gasped at her appearance and was shocked to see that it was a legendary bird, even Lance was stunned by her power and beauty that radiated off her icy coated feathers. I heard a loud screechy cheering in the crowd and watched as little Kyanite and Tanzanite waved to their mother and she waved back before she leapt up into the air with her powerful wings and the ice crystal flew right off of her, creating a pile of snow beneath her.
"I guess I got lucky to meet one of your most powerful pokemon, but let's see how you handle my dragons! Go Gyarados!" Out came the water sea like dragon that evolved from the helpless magikarp. It roared and Sapphire screeched right back at it.
"Let's take it out quickly, Sapphire! Start out with mist! Conceal yourself!" My ice type cried out before a cold mist evaporated under her feathers and very quickly did the mist spread to the entire field, hiding my ice pokemon from view as the gyarados looked around for her with a glare.
"Let's get rid of this mist, Gyarados! Use surf to flood the field!" With a roaring cry, the large serpent like water dragon leapt into the water and after it had been submerged it, large waves of water flew out of the lake that was below and around the battlefield. A sudden dome of sorts came out from the ground, and covered both Lance, and myself, from either side of the field while the field was flushed out and both of us were submerged in water. The mist was thrown away, and I saw Sapphire high up in the clouds above avoiding the rapidly moving water.
"Don't let that stop you, Sapphire! We have a championship to win! Use blizzard on the water and Gyarados!" My articuno flapped her wings rapidly, and out came a large gust of snow and ice that were followed by extremely cold air that began freezing the water all around us. When the ice even covered the protecting dome that covered me, I was floored.
I guess I didn't quite think that through too well…
I heard some heavy pecking above me and soon I saw a blue beak pecking at the glass over my head and the ice easily gone. Sapphire seemed to have a harder time actually getting through the glass then she did the ice, but then again she was and ice type that lived into these kinds of conditions, so it wouldn't surprise me if she had to do this often.
Sapphire soon broke me out of the glass and stuck in one of her taloned legs for me to grab. Once I got a hold of one, she closed her grip and lurched up into the air on the wind and pulled me out. I saw that two platforms had been raised from the ground behind the fields that were now covered in a thick layer of ice, nearly ten feet thick.
"I guess we have to be a little more careful about that next time, Sapphire…" I rubbed the back of my head nervously with the free hand I had. Sapphire sighed and only set me on the opposing platform parallel to Lance's on the other side of the field. He was already waiting for me, but it seemed that his gyarados probably wasn't the one that helped him up there since its lower half was froze in the ice.
"Nice! I didn't expect that to happen but I'll take it!" I grinned at my ice bird, "Let's go, Sapphire! Arial ace!" With a few flaps of the wings, my pokemon took off again after the gyarados on the dive. Its wings turned white as it raced through the air and then at the last second, she disappeared before we saw her hit the gyarados head on, just below its jaw. It cried out and hissed as it fell to the ground, but it did manage to slowly get to its feet. Lance blinked in surprise at the situation, and growled at me.
"Don't let her get in your way Gyarados! Attack her with hyper beam!" With a last ditch effort, the gyarados screeched and gathered a large amount of white energy in its mouth before it shot up at Sapphire a white beam of light.
I grinned at the last attempt. "Don't let it startle you, Sapphire, spin and fly through the attack and then hit it with another aerial ace!" My articuno did just that, she sped at the attack using her own and then suddenly twirled in a spiral as the attack hit and with her fast rotating speed, she cut through the attack like a knife on butter. She cried out as her attack hit, this time, in the pokemon's face and it groaned as it finally went down. Its body crashed down on the ice and its tail finally slipped free, but only after it was too late.
I could faintly hear Lance curse from the other side of the field as he returned his first pokemon. "Not bad, Violet, now I see what my comrades went through while battling you." Sapphire flew back next to me and hovered right before my platform while Lance pulled out a second pokeball. He threw it out and from it came a large purple, flying dinosaur like pokemon that flew on two wings that were its arms. It had a square like jaw with millions of sharp teeth and a long tail that whipped around behind it. It landed on top of the ice with its thickly padded feet and wrapped its wings around itself to keep warm in this battle.
I pulled out my pokedex to see exactly what this new pokemon was. Aerodactyl, the fossil pokemon. A ferocious, prehistoric pokemon that foes for the enemy's throat with its serrated, saw-like fangs, it was regenerated from a fossil genetic matter that was found in amber. It flies with high-pitches cries. There are no known nests for aerodactly in the region, hardly any live, even with technology to revive them.
So it is a revived pokemon, most of them tend to be rock and ground types, but I've never seen a flying. This will be interesting, especially since Sapphire can try out one of her new moves I taught her from our move book.
"Start off with ancient power, Aerodactyl!" Lance called out and suddenly large black boulders were floating around the new pokemon. I clicked my tongue in worry before Sapphire raced off into the sky when one was fired. She flew quicker as the rocks gained on her and suddenly exploded as it got close enough to the tip of her tail. What made matters worse when there were another five trailing behind her. But then I noticed that the aerodactyl had yet to move from its spot where it was sent out, and it gave me an awful idea…
"Alright Sapphire, fly right back at the aerodactyl!" My pokemon immediately changed course and dived at the rock type pokemon. It flipped out as the rocks came flying back at it, and suddenly, Sapphire stopped behind it while the rocks all came into together and smashed full force, causing him to be lost in an explosion. Sapphire flew out of the smoke with hardly any damage to herself and a smirk plastered on her face as she looked at the weakened pokemon.
"I believe it's our turn now to make its life hell, right, Sapphire?" She nodded and I didn't see her face, but even Lance seemed to be a bit frightened of my ice type, "Now start off with water pulse and then aerial ace!"
I heard many gasps around from the crowd as it heard my ice type knew a water type move. Sapphire screeched and sent a set of water rings and bubbles flying at the rock and flying type pokemon before she turned on her wing and sped at him, following the first attack with a secondary one to finish it off. The enemy pokemon was thrown back into the ice covered ground and its head and body were thrown off the ice from the force before ending up on the stairs behind Lance that led to the building behind him. He sucked in a gasp before he turned back to look at me smile.
Lance returned his pokemon and I suddenly saw a ridged posture to him that seemed abnormal for his character. He pulled out a final pokeball and threw it out. I gasped at the pokemon, it was orange, large and bulky as well, but it had a very big tummy. Its snout was large and wide as well as its clawed feet and hands. It had a long tail and little squiggly hairs on the top of its head, two to be precise. Its wings were large and orange as well as the rest of his body.
"Dragoo!" It cried out.
What the heck…
I pulled out my pokedex and looked up what this thing could be. Dragonite, the dragon pokemon and the evolved form of Dragonair. It can fly in spite of its big and bulky physique. It can circle the globe in sixteen hours. It's a kindhearted pokemon that leads lost and foundering ships in a storm to the safety of land and it's said that its intelligence is to match that of humans. There are no known dragonite nests in the region.
It's the evolved form of Zircon? My jaw dropped as I looked at the massive beast that was apparently the evolved form of the youngest of our family. I didn't think it was possible for him to get that big…
"Are you prepared now to face my real dragon, Violet Vilmos?" Lance questioned me, "This is the only real dragon on my team; the others were similar since there are hardly any dragons in the region other than this family breed of them." He snickered and crossed his arms, "Let's see how you fair this time around with not only my real dragon, but my most powerful pokemon!"
"Be careful, Sapphire, he's up to something." My ice type pokemon nodded and flapped her wings steadily by me.
"Use thunderbolt, dragonite!" Clouds suddenly appeared overhead and turned black, and abruptly, lightning shot down from them all over the field, hitting the ice on the ground and then suddenly hitting my ice type. She screeched and fell down in the air but quickly caught her bearings and flew back up as the strike quickly went away and she recovered herself. But the attack had done some damage.
"Don't let up the attack yet, Dragonite! Use rock tomb now!" With a roaring cry, rocks then broke their way through the thick, icy ground and floated around the pokemon for a moment before they came at Sapphire. She screeched as she flew out of their way as they landed back into the ice with a powerful force, denting the ice in until it was a sheer mess down there.
"Now use fire blast, Dragonite!" The dragon cried out once more and from its mouth came large amounts of flames, that while they weren't as powerful as Amethyst's, they were still a handful to deal with and they hit the ice on the floor of the stage before the dragonite redirected the attack at my ice bird. She dived and twirled around the attack, avoiding it barely as she flew toward and then behind the dragonite.
Damn, this is the power of a real dragon, isn't it? And they have such a diversity of moves that they can learn too to help them cover for their weaknesses. I guess Zircon and I have a lot of work to do when we get some down time… but right now, we have a battle to face, and win the championship!
The fire from the last attack of the dragon pokemon's had melted most of the ice on the field, leaving only small chucks of it behind and the rest of the water to flow back into the lake below that had been only frozen a foot or two from Sapphire's attacks. Sapphire was actually flying under the field to escape the attacks of Lance's dragonite.
"Alright now, enough's enough! Sapphire! We're taking this guy down! You with me?" My icy bird pokemon screeched and flew back up next to me while the dragonite flew back next to its trainer, "Now let's get started and take this guy down! Start off with agility!" Sapphire took off and flew around the field, getting fast and faster as she flew along to the point where the dragonite was having a hard time seeing her. Sapphire quickly flew next to it and it was pushed back from the wind force she carried as she flew through the sky.
"You won't beat my pokemon with only speed, Violet!" Lance taunted from his side of the field.
"Speed isn't all we're gonna hit you with, Lance!" I looked over to my bird as she fast approached the dragon pokemon from behind. "Now Sapphire! Fly around the dragonite and use blizzard!"
Sapphire did just as such; she flew herself in circles around the dragonite at a blinding speed that it couldn't hit her with her body traveling so fast. Once she got settled into a rhythm, she unleashed her attack that wrapped around the pokemon in a thick blanket that the dragonite couldn't escape. When it tried to fly away, Sapphire instantly caught up with it and forced it to endure another round. I could hear the dragon's cries of pain as it suffered through the cold.
"Use thunder, Dragonite!" Lance called out to his pokemon. The storm clouds rolled back in and soon came the lightning that struck both of our pokemon. Sapphire was thrown back as was the dragonite. The two of them growled at each other as they caught their bearings and their wounds became to seem more noticeable. Sapphire's beautiful wings were starting to be crisped, burned and frayed from all the electric and fire type attacks used on her. Not to mention, a few scrapes here and there from the rock tomb attack.
Dragonite wasn't fairing too much better, to be honest. It had large pieces of ice that seemed to be sticking out of its skin from where Sapphire's blizzard attack hit it. It also seemed to be running out of energy from all the power it must have been throwing at us with all those multi-type moves it knew.
If I didn't end this soon, Sapphire could get in some real danger. Who knew a dragon was so powerful and dangerous even to a type it had the disadvantage against?
"We need to finish this up, Sapphire, so collect all the energy you have inside you for our last move, this one will most likely finish us both, so we have to make sure it hits." My ice type nodded to me and looked back over at her opponent. It was still breathing heavily and Lance looked at us worriedly.
"Use safe guard to protect yourself, Dragonite!" The dragon pokemon howled a roar and its entire body was incased in a green shield of protection.
"Not this time, Lance we're taking you down!" I threw out my fist upon the field with my first finger pointed directly at the dragonite, "Sapphire, use sheer cold!"
It was the most powerful ice type move known in the entire world. A move I didn't even discover, until recently. It was an attack that either took out your opponent, or left you stranded, or both. It was a double edge sword, but if this attack took out the dragonite, it would be our win, and Sapphire's reprieve to rest unless I need her for some other battle, but I doubt it since this is the last of the Elite Four.
Sapphire's attack literally dropped the temperature by at least fifty degrees from the already cold weather, making it easily below freezing point. A sudden explosion of ice came from her body and then quickly expanded from every inch of water that was around or in the air; either way, it was cold and icy all around. Even the lake below was hit from the wide range of the attack, and the ice leapt out of the area below and surrounded the dragon pokemon. I heard a single cry from it before it was encased in a solid patch of ice that covered the entire field, even up to the point where Lance and I were up on the platforms up into the sky. The pokemon was stuck inside, frozen and unable to continue.
I then heard the ice cracking, and I gasped as I watched it split in two. Sapphire had lost all her energy in that last attack and couldn't hold up her body weight anymore and flew down onto the platform with me. She and I both watched as the dragon pokemon broke free of the ice and flew in the air above us.
"I-impossible!" I gripped Sapphire's feathers in my fists as I watched the dragon above. I felt a patting on my head and looked to see it was Sapphire's wing. She shook her head and looked back out onto the battlefield, my gazing following hers. Her eyes landed on the dragonite in the air, which, after a single flap of its wings, fell from its place in the sky and into the hard ground and ice below.
I heard many screams and cries in the air as everyone watched the fallen pokemon and waited for the small dust cloud to clear and see what became of it. When it finally faded, we saw the pokemon was down and out, it's back pressed into the ground and its eyes covered over in x's, signaling its defeat.
"Dragonite is unable to battle! Sapphire is the winner and the victor of this battle is Violet Vilmos of Pallet Town!" The crowd was stunned as they took in the information, they actually didn't cheer for a whole ten seconds before they caught onto the fact that I'd won and my family then started cheering like mad before many others joined in.
Lance, on the other side of the field, dropped to his knees and lowered his head, his eyes hiding behind his red bangs. He returned his pokemon with kind words to congratulate it before he looked back up at me with a smile and tears he raced to dry from his eyes. "Congratulations, Violet Vilmos, you have beaten the Elite Four," I grinned and breathed deeply as I realized I was now the champion, "…But sadly, I'm afraid I have some grave news for you."
I blinked; I was totally taken aback by that. "What do you mean, Lance? Aren't I the champion now?"
"You would have been but one other lucky trainer beat the four of us before you had, only a short while ago." The dragon member of the Elite Four whistled and around came another man on a pidgeot that helped him off the tall platform, landing him on the other side where a door led to a dome behind him. The pokemon and its trainer then came over to me and offer a ride. I returned Sapphire with a quick congratulations and allowed the man to help me on and take me to where Lance was waiting on the other side. "I will not tell you their name, since I'm sure you know who it is. Go on, they wait for you."
Lance moved out of the way and let me see another long path that led to another room for me to face. I guess you get to fight after all Amethyst, sorry I didn't let you battle earlier, but it looks like you get to have a battle all to yourself. I could feel her grinning in anticipation inside her pokeball. She was eager, she was battle hungry, she was pissed since I'd wanted to keep her as a trump card should something go horribly wrong, and she was strongest pokemon, so it made sense to do so.
I only had one option, if I wanted that championship; I had to head up… With a nod to Lance and the crowd behind me, I hurried up to the long pathway that led to the large dome. I watched as many people from the stadium hurried to the dome as well, eager to see this battle as well between its first champion and a hero of the region (well, if you could call me a hero.)
I continued, regardless of their ongoing stares at me as I took the long walk up to the next building, where hopefully my last battle would be.
HalloweenWitchHalloweenWitch
The dome was no more than your average battlefield on the inside with many people looking down upon you to watch the battle. I hope they knew to sit back while Amethyst's on the field or else a few faces might be scorched…
On the other side of the field I saw no one at the moment, then the lights suddenly went out and I could feel a gust of wind as figure came in from the back. I saw spiked hair, but other than that; I could only make out the shape of a male's body, possibly around my age.
A light then appeared over the battlefield where we were supposed to have out battle, then a light appeared over my head, slightly blinding me, but it wasn't something I couldn't handle. Another light appeared over the champion on the other side of the room and I gasped when I saw who it was. Black and purple clothes met my eyes and bronze/ginger hair also greeted me. Light hazel eyes gazed into my own brown ones and I back at them in shock, but also happiness.
I knew he'd make it here, just like we'd planned. It was just how we wanted to end this, to see who was stronger, and this was the only way to do it. Go all the way and end up on top, even if it meant battling your own best friend.
Or the boy you were in love with.
"Welcome to the Championship Dome, Violet Vilmos," the boy said to me. "You're a powerful trainer to have made it this far in your journey, but that doesn't mean that I plan to go easy on you despite this, I have to retain my place as the first pokemon champion after all."
"Well, I apologize beforehand if we steal that title from you then," I grinned and pulled out Amethyst's pokeball that felt like it was going to burst in my hands, "You ready, Alex?"
My childhood best friend smiled and nodded before he pulled out his first pokeball. "Let's end this, Violet. Let's go, Alakazam!" Out came Alex's psychic pokemon that actually floated off the ground in the air rather then stood on its own two feet. I guess it didn't want to today, "I'm gonna regret giving you the first move, but it's your right as the challenger."
"Naw, I can wait, let's go, Amethyst!" I threw out my fire pokemon's pokeball and I saw Alex unconsciously flinch on the other side of the field. He knew he was in trouble… "You can have the first move."
"Don't I feel special," he muttered to himself, "Alright then. Alakazam! Start off with psychic!" The powerful attack came at my pokemon's mind and hit her strong and fast, but Amethyst bared through it with a deep growl and stood her ground, easily looking back up at the pokemon that attacker her with the pent up energy she had from not battling all day. "What the hell?"
"Sorry Alex, but Amethyst is pretty pissed and pent up with a lot of energy from waiting for so long. I kept her as my trump card should anything else have happened on our way here, but in the reality of it, she didn't get to battle at all. So she's well ready to battle with the hottest flames worse than the pit of hell. And to make matters worse for you…" I grinned at him maniac like, "She's yet to use rage to boost her stats."
"Shit…" Alex hissed under his breathe from the other side of the field. He knew he was in trouble... I couldn't help but giggle to myself like a madwoman as he stuttered and wondered what to do.
"Okay then, we'll just have to do what we can then," Alex muttered to himself. "Alakazam, use thunder punch!" The pokemon on Alex's side of the field leapt from its meditive pose and its fist became covered in electricity. It threw the fist at my pokemon and I silently watched as my most powerful pokemon practically read my mind and without my command grabbed the wrist of the psychic pokemon before the attack could hit. While a few lingering sparks did touch her skin, Amethyst hardly felt any pain and growled at the pokemon. Alakazam tried to back away in its fear and pull free, but Amethyst now had a death grip on it. Its eyes and Alex's widened, and Amethyst grinned.
"I think it's time to finish it girl, fire blast!" I commanded my fire type pokemon and the flames escaped from the sides of her mouth like drool from a starved human or pokemon.
"Not so fast, Violet! I didn't get here by just doing a move here or there! I had to be crafty and swift, too!" Alex threw his arm out and Alakazam was gone in the next moment. I gasped in surprise and Amethyst looked to where it had gone so she could fry its ass.
I suddenly saw a flash above and looked up, there was Alakazam above and I shouted to Amethyst. She quickly looked up and fired her attack at the ceiling. I could hear the cracking and breaking of the roof above and it suddenly crashed down in a fiery barrage of wood, metal and ash that landed all over the battlefield. Amethyst snorted in anger as she looked around for the body of the Alakazam, but didn't see it as the ceiling opened up and our battlefield was littered with junk.
The pokemon opposing us soon appeared before Alex out of breath and clenching its spoons in its hands. It must have just barely avoided that fire attack from Amethyst earlier and was sustaining a burn on its leg. But it wasn't down yet.
"Are you alright, Alakazam?" Alex called out to his pokemon. The pokemon in response to his call nodded and got back into a battle stance, but it was easy to tell it was weakening. Alex looked back out onto the field and sighed before he looked to have toughened up, "Alright then, let's try teleport and then thunder punch!"
The psychic pokemon was gone the next second and Amethyst and I both started to look around for it as the seconds that passed by seemed like hours as we waited for the attack. I suddenly saw the pokemon appear from behind Amethyst it and its arm sparked. I was about to scream out and tell my pokemon, but she moved faster than I did and her tail whipped Alakazam off, but not without its fist hitting Amethyst's tail. She hissed at the pain she felt in her tail, but bore through it and looked to where her opponent had been thrown. Alakazam seemed to have been thrown into the wall on the other side of the field where it was stuck inside of. It also seemed to have no strength as it didn't move from its spot in the wall.
"One down, three to go…" I giggled and Amethyst nodded and grinned. Alex sighed and returned his psychic pokemon to its pokeball before he pulled out another and threw it out.
"Let's go, Arcanine!" Out came the fire dog pokemon next that roared and shook its fluffy fur. It glared at Amethyst and she glared rightly back at it.
"So, fire verses fire, eh? Let's see which fire is strongest." I chuckled quietly to myself as Alex braced himself.
"Fire blast, Arcanine!"
"You use fire blast too, Amethyst!"
Both attacks came flying out of both pokemons' mouths and collided on the field. The opposing pokemon seemed to be struggling as my pokemon's fire got hotter than it was before. I watched as it was pushed backward and, suddenly, it was thrown back into the wall like its teammate had only moments ago. It caused the pokemon to become frustrated and it roared in anger before it blew another large blast of fire back in the direction of Amethyst, but the attack went right around her…
And it was heading toward me.
"Stop Arcainine! You'll hit Violet!" The pokemon stopped, but it was too late. I heard Amethyst roar before the flames hit me and I suddenly felt more powerful than before. "VIOLET!"
"I'm okay!" I called back and the flames suddenly disappeared. I looked myself over. I saw I had my longer nails that acted as claws and I felt my sharper teeth. I looked over my shoulder to my hair and saw my hair had changed color again. I looked over to my fire pokemon and she was covered in a thick black aura. She used rage to protect me…
"Thanks girl! I'm fine now." I heard many cries and screams and voices over me however that weren't sure how to except how I looked now, and just a minute ago, I bet they were scared for my life.
"Violet Vilmos, are you alright?" the ref asked from the middle of the field.
"Don't worry about me… uh, this. This has happened a time or two before; it happens when Amethyst uses rage, we combine a bit more than usual since we have such a powerful bond then normal people do." I did my best to explain it to him and everyone else. "She was afraid I was gonna get hurt by the fire blast and used rage not to increase her power from my emotions, but to protect me by giving me some of her traits, like be almost resistant to fire. But I'm totally fine, Alex can vouch for me, and so can my twin brother Vince and all our pokemon."
The ref turned to Alex. "Is this true, Champion Alexander?"
"It's Champion Alex," I saw him hiss at the use of his full first name after he's clarified he didn't want it like that, "And yes, she's fine. This doesn't hurt her and isn't permanent, once the battle is over, she should turn back to normal."
"Very well then, proceed." The ref the butted out of our business and let us continue. While some of the fans still questioned what was going one with me, a majority of them went back to cheering us one, ignoring what was happening since nothing bad was happening.
"Now that that's out of the way… let's get back to this battle, Alex!" He nodded to me and we faced each other once more. I grinned and stepped backwards and Alex blinked at me in question while I shared a look with my pokemon, "Hey, Alex? Would you have any opposition to messing up the field a bit more? I mean, it's already gotta be cleaned anyway."
"Do I dare ask what you plan to do?"
"Probably not, but you're going to find out whether you agree, like it or not." I threw my arm out as I leapt high up into the air, "Amethyst, use earthquake!" My pokemon roared and her tail slammed down on the ground and quickly from the force of power and the ground below us began to crack and either sink or rise. The arcanine on the other side of the field tried to out run the attack, but it caught up with it before it could get away. The pokemon ended up falling into the cracks in the ground and before it could have a moment to catch its bearings to move and get out of there; it was trapped between them and crushed there. It cried out and it was left defenseless.
"Arcanine!" Alex cried out, worried.
"Another down. Amethyst, now, aerial ace!" My pokemon flew up into the air and then dove toward the arcanine, hitting it right in the face and with enough force to remove it from the ground where it was stuck, but it was no use now since the pokemon was knocked out. It landed before Alex with x's over its eyes.
It was another one down, only two left to go (unless for some strange reason Alex obtained a new pokemon when I wasn't looking in the past hour or so since I saw him last. Alex withdrew his fire type and congratulated it before he pulled out a third pokeball and threw it out. A screech came before I could hear the snapping of the electricity. It was Zapdos, the legendary bird of thunder that Alex had managed to obtain during his training at the power plant.
"Let's see how you handle being at a disadvantage!" Alex finally smirked in this battle since before it started, now that he could fight on more even grounds with me, "Now use thunder, Zapdos!"
With a screeching cry, lightning bounced off its body before it centered over our heads in large black clouds and then was sent flying from both figures at my fire type. She just barely jumped out of the way from where she had been a moment ago. The electric bird then suddenly took after my fire type and the two of them started spewing fire and lightning at each other as they flew through the air.
Amethyst was shocked a few times as she flew in the sky. Zapdos fared no better with a few burns on its body from Amethyst's fire attacks. Zapdos was panting a little more heavily than Amethyst was, hell, Amethyst didn't even seem like she was tired… oh right… duh.
"Alright now girl, let's use fire spin!" My pokemon flapped her wings a little faster, creating a small current of air which she soon lit up with fire. It circled around in the air like a fire tornado and the electric bird freaked as it saw the attack getting closer.
"Zapdos!" Alex cried out as his legendary pokemon was sucked inside the flaming vortex. I grinned as I watched my opponent's pokemon take on damage inside of the vortex until something happened and I began to see sparks seep out from inside of the fire tornado.
Suddenly the tornado exploded in the air, and patches of fire flew off and faded from the eye while Zapdos was surrounded by a thick cloud of lightning. It sparked everywhere and ended up landing on Amethyst as she was on the ground now, taking a quick breather. Her entire body was shocked by the attack and I felt it course slightly through my system. I could feel her pain…
She easily shook the attack off though and roared madly at the legendary pokemon of lightning she's faced before. The two of them both angrily made their presence known to the other with their growls and hissing and cries. Alex and I silently watched from the ends of the field.
I guess it's time to end this one, if I wait too much longer; Amethyst might get too tired to face Alex's last pokemon. And there was a lot riding on that…
"Alright, Amethyst! Finish it off with fire blast! This has gone on long enough!" My pokemon entirely agreed and sent out its powerful fire type attack that hit the electric pokemon head on and threw it into the destroyed ceiling, or what was left of it. More sparks let loose from that spot above, but none of them came at Amethyst, so I was happy for that.
Zapdos soon landed on the ground, it was knocked out as well from the last attack that Amethyst had used on it. There was only one pokemon left to face, only one left between me and my long wished dream to be the strongest trainer in the region… and to make it with a team I could be proud of.
Alex returned Zapdos, one of his most powerful pokemon on his team, but not his strongest, I knew better than that. His last pokemon was the most powerful of them all, but this battle would be decided in no time at all. He and I both knew that, we both had a single chance to come out on top with our two pokemon.
"Let's go, Blastoise!" Out came his final pokemon, his fully evolved water pokemon from his starter. The last time I'd faced him was back on the S.S. Anne, before a lot of the drama with Team Rocket started that caused us to get into this giant mess of trouble.
One move would decide it all now; it was just the two of us and our starters on this field. Just Amethyst and Blastoise, just me and Alex… it made me think back to how he's changed all this time, how much he did for me over all this time…
"Hydro cannon!"
"Blast burn!"
As the pokemon lit up with their signature ancient markings and what not and the attacks were getting powered up for, I thought back to all the times where Alex seemed to change as a person, he changed from being a horrible snotty brat to a guy really worth being with. He certainly changed my opinion of him…
Violet's Memories (Also her Point of View):
"Leave it to me then, Gramps!" Alex grinned and his squirtle jumped next to him, "Just leave everything to me. No offence, Violet, Vince, but you two would sleep through all the pokemon walking by and I'll be totally fine on my own. So Violet, about that battle…"
"Like I'd want to battle you now? All you've done today is insult us and acted like a jerk." Amethyst agreed with me and shouted at Alex right in front of me. I sighed, "But if you're that desperate for a battle, fine, I'll battle you, but on the sole condition that if I win, you have to apologize to the both of us and take back everything you said."
He shrugged his shoulders and ginned. "I won't have to because I won't lose, but if it makes you feel better, yes, I promise to do so."
"Then let's step outside, we've already made a mess here, we don't need to do it again and make more work for your sister." I could see Daisy silently praying as everyone walked outside. The professor had a large field behind his lab that we often used to play in when we were younger, but now it was going to become a battlefield for Alex and me. He and I often didn't argue and fight; I was normally the mediator between the fights he and Vince conjure. But now that's not the case, it's now a fight between me and him, and he has no idea what power we have. We will defeat him and prove to him that we are strong (but then again, it's hard to prove him wrong, so we'll have to fight hard.)
He was such a jerk at the time; I could have never thought he cared about me even remotely more than a friend…

The air suddenly turned stiff, and I felt both of my pokemon stiffen both in my arms and on my shoulder. They sensed it too. Something was wrong, and I'm willing to bet-
I screeched as I felt something shoot out of the area around me and grab my wrist. I started to kick and scream. Amethyst jumped from my arms to produce an ember, when a water gun stopped her by dousing her in the face. Amber knocked the foe back and then vines came out and wrapped her up in them. She shocked the other foe, but it didn't do as much damage to that one and Amethyst was in no condition to help at the moment.
"For Mew's sake, Violet, can't you just get over this? We're trying to help you here!"
"Then why does it feel like you're trying to lock me up?" I snapped back and my captor didn't reply. I saw now that my wrist had been grabbed in Alex's hand and he was right in front of me, trying to grab onto the rest of my body to keep me from flailing. Amber was caught up in the vines of Bulbasaur and Amethyst was slowly now getting to her feet as she glared at Squirtle next to her.
"Common, let's get through the forest." Vince led the way to a path that was just beyond the trees and Alex grabbed a hold of my other wrist and kept me nearly pressed to the front of his body and steered me in the direction of the path.
"You think I'm willing just going to follow you?" I seethed at the two of them.
"What choice do you have?" Alex questioned.
"A lot when I do this!" I swung my legs forward and back, using Alex's weight to keep me up with him holding onto me, and kicking him with the heels of my shoes in his groin. He nearly screeched in pain and released me on impact. Squirtle was at a loss for action or words as he watched Alex wither in pain while I picked up Amethyst and had her blow fire at Bulbasaur to release Amber. She jumped from the vines onto my shoulder and I took off into the woods in the opposite direction from the path.
Over time however, he seemed to change just a bit at a time, he actually was a caring guy when you think back to it, but he hid it all behind a sour personality…

"Violet?"
My entire body froze. I jumped around in a flash to see Alex behind me along with my brother and their starter pokemon at their sides. To say I was freaked out at the time would be an understatement. I cursed at myself for not paying attention enough to notice them earlier-
"Violet, please…" Alex stressed out a word I'd never thought I'd ever hear. He was never one to use those kinds of words at us. I placed my hands atop of Amethyst's claw and Amber's back. The two of them didn't move under my hands, but still growled at him.
"What do you want, Alexander?" I was scared to ask him that questioned and because of that, I looked away from him.
"Can we talk?" He surprised me with that question.
"About?"
"Everything." I only then looked up at him; it took me a moment to find the truth in his eyes before I took a step closer to him with a bit more courage than before.
"What do you want to know?" He sighed at me and held out his hand to hold my own. I hesitated at first, but he seemed like he wasn't going to do me wrong, so I took it. I suddenly felt him chuckle, and I had to fight the urge to pull away from him.
"Sorry," he responded, his laughter dying down, "It's just that I never expected you to dress up like this, you look nice, Violet."
I placed my hand on his forehead when I heard that. "Are you sick or something Alex? You just gave me a compliment."
"No, I just felt like complimenting you was all."
To actually hear him say those words instead of the usual words that I was used to was shocking and different, it greatly surprised me, but also made my heart beat a little faster. Maybe I knew all along…

"Here." Suddenly a sandwich flew right in front of me along with a large basket of fries. I looked behind me and saw that Alex and thrown them before me, a couple of the scattered fires the young eevee gladly raced after and ate.
"Okay, one, you didn't need to throw the food, two, how am I supposed to eat all this after I already had my own fries earlier and part of your sandwich?" I demanded of him.
"Give the fries to the pokemon, it looks pretty hungry." Alex shrugged and sat back down in his seat and ate his second sandwich. I saw the poor eevee was nearly drooling as it looked at my food before I pushed the fires toward it. I nearly pounced on them and started to dig in while I ate my own sandwich.
I looked down at my lap. "Thanks, Alex."
He glanced up from his sandwich for only a moment to catch my eyes when I glanced at him and I noticed how softer his were now. He nodded to me before he went back to eating his food and I did the same.
He was smarter than me at times, I'll give him that. He made better choices and always came through for me and others when we needed the help, even if he did hang on to his pride still…

"Where have you been?" Alex snapped off before Vince could ask anything, "And what the hell are you doing here in a Team Rocket base?"
"I thought Daisy told you I'd gone for my fourth gym badge, guess she forgot," I shrugged, "And I'm here because we followed a Team Rocket member here that stole something, and low and behold, he led us into their hideout. Multiple pokemon are trapped here if you listen quietly long enough, and we need to save them and find out all we can about what they do so we can stop them." Vince sighed and didn't dare argue with me while Alex looked pissed. "And I don't care what you say because I'm not leaving until we've handled this little honey hole. Any questions?"
"Yeah, where do you plan to start?" Vince questioned me in a more quiet voice compared to Alex's.
"Find a computer; see what it has on there for the hideout. And then we need to make out way down, I can hear the pokemons' cries from down there." I quieted for a moment and held up my hand for the boys to hush up themselves. The listened for a moment and soon I heard the wave of pokemon wails and cries that were echoing from below. I saw the boys' eyes widen in shock and I walked slightly ahead. "We need to get down there and help them."
"Just for curiosity's sake, why can't we- you, I mean, leave this to the police?" Alex questioned me, and for once, he was serious about it.
"Because we're already here and can get to them quicker, if we wait for the police to arrive before we make our move, Team Rocket and their boss will have all that time to pack up and move the pokemon to another location before they can be helped and freed. We can't afford to give them that time. That guy I scared into running down here is probably already alerting his boss and other team members now, if he hasn't already." I headed toward the other branching off hallway. "Let's try this way."
He was always worried, though he masked it with trying to obey the law a bit. He was scared to death when I was gone. It was only by luck and chance that I'd gotten that far and I was thankful for the help her provided me at the time…

A sudden wave of pain washed over me and it only made me think a moment to late what Rose's dirty plan to get away or get what she wanted was. I heard cracking from my joints and knuckles, muscles were being pulled at and my body was twisting upon itself. I felt like I couldn't breathe and the supply to my lungs had been cut off. The haunter hadn't been looking at my pokemon… it'd been looking right at me.
I struggled to breath and when Amber picked up on my staggered breathing from down at my feet, she watched as my body collapsed. I couldn't feel the impact, nor my pokemons' claws and paws as they tried to snap me out of it or help me breathe again.
"Oh poor, poor, Violet. Can't breathe now, can you?" I heard Rose speaking to me as if I was a young child in my back ground. I gasped out for the breath that I couldn't get into my lungs. I was suffocating.
"Let her go, you bitch!" I heard both the boys yell at once. I heard them rushing around in the background as my vision began to cloud and I saw a brief glimpse of black and red before things started to get darker and more unclear.
"I should end her now rather than let her live, she's caused my boss and I too much trouble..." I could practically hear the smirk from Rose as she watched me wither in pain. I suddenly felt a clench on my heart, hearing more snapping, and tried to scream, but nothing emerged from my mouth.
"Water gun, Blastoise!" Alex yelled in anger. I felt a light stomping on the ground through the vibrations before I felt a few drops of water spill over me and the sudden clamp over my lungs had been lifted. I gasped out for air which readily entered my lungs as I sucked it in before I screamed in pain.
After that single scream, I slowly started to calm down as some sort of conversation and battle floated around me. Gasps of pain croaked their way out of my mouth. Everything hurt, I might not have had anything broken, but I was in pain all over.
"The next time we meet, I'll be sure that she perishes by my hand!" I heard the psychotic woman gloat before her voice disappeared and I no longer could see any sign of her (or any color for that matter since I was nearly blacked out as it was).
I suddenly felt a set of arms curl up under my body and lift me from the ground. They were human hands since I couldn't feel any nails or claws digging into my skin that I knew all my pokemon had. I could only assume it was either my brother or Alex since I bet the old man couldn't carry me if our lives depended on it.
"It's gonna be alright now, Vi, Rose is gone and everyone's safe now. We'll get you to a doctor…"
Alex's words trailed off as I finally drifted into the dark world of my own sub-conscious. I could no longer fight the darkness that was trying to encircle me, and I welcomed it with arms wide, no longer feeling the pain as I drifted further from reality.
It was the first time I ever heard Alex sound truly afraid, it was almost a scary thing to listen to, Alexander Oak was never afraid of anything and took on nearly every challenge he was faced with. But when it came to his best friend and potential love, he didn't know what to think…
HalloweenWitchHalloweenWitch
We sat there in silence for a moment, I somehow didn't have the strength at the moment to ask him what happened, and it seemed at the exact same time, Chalcedony couldn't do it either.
"…Why?" My voice was no more than a raspy whisper that Chalcedony probably didn't hear, but assumed it was that, it was the one question we both knew I'd ask.
"Ee… ee eevee ee." He slowly explained I blinked as I let his answer sink in…
"What are you talking about?" More power was in my voice now as anger slowly started to fill into it, "You didn't want Alex to 'take me away from you'? Why on earth would he do that?"
"Eevee ee ee?" Chalcedony questioned me softly.
"Know what? What exactly is it that I don't know, Chalcedony?" My hands balled up and rolled into the top of my hips while I waited in my angry stance for his answer.
"Ee eevee eevee ee ee eve?" Chalcedony answered worriedly. His tiny body shook slightly from the welled up of emotions inside him, "Eve ee eevee eevee eve ee ee."
My breath caught in my throat and my body stilled. My mind raced to find evidence of what Chalcedony was talking about. My eyes widened when I found what I was looking for, now that I was thinking about it, the evidence was everywhere, when we were young, his concerns for me when I was on the run from him and Vince, in Celadon City, in the Team Rocket Hideout, in Fuchsia, in Saffron, in Lavender, hell, everywhere! I gasped as my hand flew to my mouth and covered instinctively out of surprise.
"…Do the others know, too?"
"…Ee." He bowed his head and his tail sank. My breath shook as I breathed in and out to calm myself down enough for our departure. We'd have to head out quickly and make some ground, I needed to get away and think on my own.
When I first heard the news that Alex was in love with me, I went into a psychotic stage of denial. Alexander Oak would never have loved me, but somehow he did if Chalcedony was telling me, and he never lied to me. Chalcedony loves me more than he did any other human, it was the one reason how I could know…

"Cease and desist boys, and only two of my pokemon are tired, four others could whip your asses faster then-"
"Violet Vilmos! Language!"
"Yes, mother…" I groaned as my mother scolded me. While it was great to have her back to normal, I hated it now that she kept correcting me if I swore at the boys, and I'm the only one that gets caught. Vince laughed while Alex continued to glare at him before I felt his arm around my shoulders. I blinked and flushed from embarrassment and my heart fluttered at the action.
Chalcedony hissed at him and Alex was about to pull his arm away when I released one of my arms from around Amber's waist where I carried her and held his hand in place. I looked to the shocked normal type on my shoulder. "Stop it, Chalcedony… I-I don't mind that his arm's there." I felt every nerve on fire as I turned away from them.
"Dude! Sis, your redder then a tomato berry!" Vince laughed and I glared at him.
"Shut it, Vince, Chalcedony, I don't mind if you blow his face off." My pokemon grinned and quickly threw a shadow ball at his face. He cried out and fell back and Alex and I laughed at his pain. My brother quickly jumped to his feet but before he could do anything, my mother stood between us.
It was the first I'd really seen and felt affection from him, he actually put his arm over my shoulders… and I accepted it… I still don't know why I did…
HalloweenWitchHalloweenWitch
"…Why didn't you tell me?"
"How exactly was I supposed to do that?" Alex snapped and I flinched at his words. He saw that and sighed, "Sorry, I'm just… irritated with how this turned out. I wanted it to be so much different. I was waiting… until all this drama was over before I would even dare say anything."
I lowered my head, "…You mean like with my Mom, and Team Rocket?"
"And your Dad, too," Alex threw in, "I wanted to wait for most of the drama to be over so you could think more clearly and not worry about other things. I didn't want this kind of thing to get in your way of doing what you loved and helping others. I didn't want to get in your way…"
"You never did and couldn't if you tried." I sighed shakily and sat myself against the side of the ship with my head leaned down on his shoulder and I felt his shoulder stiffen. "I'm gonna be honest Alex, I'm not sure how I feel right now about you, but I know… something's changed, and whether it's for better or worse yet I don't know. Is there any way you could give me some more time to figure this out? I think I can do it, even with all this drama-"
"It doesn't matter how long you need, Violet, and even if you choose no, I'll still be right here with you, right by your side for better or worse," I heard and felt the bump from his snorting, "But it seems we've seen a lot of worse right from the get go, Rose, Team Rocket, fighting between ourselves, your mother, your father, and fighting between us…"
"I'll try to keep that to a minimum, if I can." I giggled lightly before I cuddled into his shoulder and gently grabbed his arm that I was against. "Do you mind if I sleep, Alex? I'm still tired and Vince left the damn blinds open and it got me up with the glare…"
"Go right ahead, Violet, I'm not going anywhere." His voice sounded calmer now, more relaxed. It made going back to sleep easier than I thought, and the next thing I knew, I was out of it.
The truth had finally come out between us; he was waiting, and still planned to wait for me while I straitened everything out that was messed up in my life… I couldn't believe how kind he'd become…
HalloweenWitchHalloweenWitch
"THEY'RE OUR ONLY TICKET TO FINDING OUT WHAT HAPPENED TO DAD!" I screamed at him, throwing my arm forward and my palm collided with his cheek. He gently reached up to touch it and gasped at the sting there. "Team Rocket is somehow connected to him, and if it means I have to take down the entire organization, I'll do it if it means I find him." I turned away from him to hide any more tears I shed. "It first just started… with helping people who… were in trouble… Now… now it leads to Dad on a frail silver line that could break at any time…" I sobbed and felt my shoulders shaking. "Don't you know…? You weren't the only one who suffered… from loosening him…!" I held myself as I felt to my knees. "I tried to cry when he was gone… but the tears never came… I suffered in silence…!"
"Vi…" Vince reached out to put a hand on my shoulder and I swatted it away.
"Don't touch me!" I screeched at him. "Don't touch me!"
"Violet!" Alex hurried over to us and I felt him grab my wrist. I pull it from him and slapped him but it seemed to have no effect. He only grabbed onto my waist and held me tighter while I kicked his legs and punched his chest and face.
"DON'T TOUCH ME!" I tried to push myself away from him, but he just held me tighter.
"No, I won't." I froze at his words. "You can hit and scream at me anyway you want, but there's no way in hell I'm letting you go." I couldn't think strait at all, I just kept trying to get away but I couldn't. "Breathe, Vi, let it all out."
I finally settled down to the point where I was sobbing in his shoulder. Alex sighed and picked me up in his arms after a moment. "I'll talk you back to town; you'd better rest for the rest of the day." I curled into his side and looked over my shoulder to where Rose had been. I gasped when I saw she was gone.
"Rose!" I sobbed, "She's gone!"
"Forget about her right now, we're leaving the rest of Team Rocket to the police, you've done enough for today." Alex continued on his path with no worries for the evil woman that had just tried to kill me. My pokemon followed silently and obediently after him while I was in his arms. I wanted so badly to look for her and jump out of his arms at the first chance I got, but I somehow had become so tired…
And I drifted to sleep after that.
He cared for me; he treated me with nothing but love and all the attention in world in my most painful moment in life. It was the first ever break down I'd ever had, especially since my father disappeared, it was hard on us all, but myself the most as Daddy's little girl. Alex stood there as a sturdy pillar to hold me up when I needed him, and for that I'll forever be thankful and even more…
Present (Still Violet's Point of View):
The two attacks came at each other with a blinding force that brought back all these memories between us to my mind. It was like watching a movie of all the moments that mattered most between us. And even in this battle to find out who was the better suited champion, it was just another meeting for us, another get together…
The attacks exploded on the field and it suddenly the attack's residue scattered and hit both pokemon with a massive force of power that knocked them both back into the walls behind each of us. I turned on my heels to look back at Amethyst with a surprised look before I looked back over at Alex and his blastoise. The pokemon struggled its way out of the wall and stood on its own two legs before it fell onto the ground, knocked out from the power of the two attacks.
I heard movement next to me, and I found Amethyst moving on her own. She pulled herself from the wall and I moved before her in case she fell, but she gently pushed me back and stood on her own two wobbly feet and made her way back into the battlefield and looked up to all the stunned spectators. She roared and raised her fist into the air and suddenly the field erupted into cheers.
We won…
"We won girl! We won!" I ran up to my fire type and caught her head as she let it fall and quickly out came all the other pokemon on my team with me. They supported her and all gathered with me in a large group hug. We'd accomplished out greatest dream (besides kicking Team Rocket's asses and what not.)
"Well done, Violet, I was powerless against you." I looked back to see Alex walking toward me with his blastoise now returned into its pokeball. I smiled at him and ran up to him and hugged him tightly. He stumbled a bit since I threw all my weight into it, but he soon steadied himself.
"Thanks Alex, you did well yourself. If Amethyst didn't know her ancient move, she wouldn't have been able to beat you."
"But she knew it, and she beat me." Alex said and pulled me back from our hold, "You're the new champion now, Vi, I'm just glad it was me who got to battle you last for this title."
"So am I Alex, so am I."
"Whoa! What the hell happened here?" Both Alex and I turned and so did everyone in the crowd to see it was my brother who appeared on the other side of the arena. He looked around at all the ashes and burnt pieces of ground and the shattered earth everywhere in small and large chucks. Small bits of fire still lingered in some spots and my brother could only gap at it all.
Alex could only laugh. "Violet just beat me and became the second and current Kanto League Champion."
"She did?" My brother looked over at me and all my pokemon before he pulled out his number card and tore it in half and threw it into a piece of fire next to him. "Well then, I'm done."
My jaw dropped as well as many other people in the dome with us. Alex seemed to be the worst of it all, say what you want about these boys, but their dreams are well known by each other, and for my brother to suddenly just drop it is a surprise definitely to him. "But why, Vince? Didn't you want to become the champion?"
"Of course I did, I'm not doing this because I don't want it anymore." My brother looked over at me and walked up to me. "Sis, you are an incredible trainer, if anyone disserves this title, it's you. You've saved the region from Team Rocket; you've become its strongest trainer." He paused for a moment and looked down to the pokeballs he had on him and shook his head. "We made it all the way here, we're proud to have made it this far, but I can't think about trying to take this title from you, you've worked too hard for it. And to be honest, my pokemon have taken a real beating from all these battles, going up against you and not being at full strength is suicide, and I'm sure Alex had to deal with that." Our best friend nodded and my brother walked up to me.
"Vi, you take the championship, you deserve it, and I'm just happy to say that we took this journey with you, things wouldn't have been the same if it wasn't for you." I teared up at my brother's kind words. I quickly tried to wipe them away, but they kept coming back faster than I could get rid of them.
"Vincey… thank you!" I ran up to my brother and hugged him as well. The crowd awed at us and soon we were met up with the Elite Four who joined us out in the room, as well as our large family and friends.
"I'm sorry for your short championship, Alexander, but I hope you enjoyed it to the best of your abilities," Lance told him. Alex could only nod as he griped his hand in my own and I blushed at the contact but found it comforting and held his back. He glanced at me in the corner of his eye and I could only smile at him. "As for you, Violet, welcome, our new champion." The crowd erupted in cheers and suddenly I felt my hand lifted with my Alex's and my pokemon behind me in pairs of two. Amber and Chalcedony, Zircon and Sapphire, Ruby and Amethyst… we won…

"Oh, Violet! You look so beautiful in that dress! I wish I had been there when you picked it out!" My mother gushed over the purple dress I'd picked out for myself that I'd kept stashed away a while back. It was a thin, but somewhat frilly at the end dress that came down to my knees with a cut at the front to make a small indent in it. The dress itself was strapless and lavender in color. I used the same heeled silver and black shoes I had before and I used a plum colored nail polish this time for my nails. I had on an old locket that my mother had found that my father had wanted to give me when I became a trainer but never got the chance to. It was heart shaped with a flame design engraved on it (what a coincidence…) and it had a picture of the two of us when I was little and he was still around. It made me smile to see that.
"Thanks, Mom, you don't look too bad yourself." My mom had on an off white dress that came only down to mid-thigh and was sleeveless, but was thick over the shoulders had no cut to show the upper part of chest, but there was a sliver open in the back. She had on black heels with some frills hanging off of them; red nail polish and she had her hair pulled back so it was half up and half down.
"Oh, don't say that, sweetie! You need to be the star; you are the Kanto Champion now." My mother and I were preparing for the ceremony tonight where Alex and I would be put into the records of the Pokѐmon League about us becoming the champions and who was the current champion, basically me. It was also where we were supposed to get our rings to show we were once champions. I was going to have a small stone for every one of my pokemon that I had on my team, so they had to make a rush order on both Alex's and my ring to have them ready by tonight.
My pokemon were all out and had been cleaned since our arrival. Since I only had eight pokemon, they'd all be taking a photo with me tonight to put in the history books and for me to keep as memories. Amethyst finally had enough of waiting around however and grabbed me and threw me up on top of her shoulders. I squealed as she did so and took hold of her horns.
"Easy girl! We're going, we're going!" She grinned and with the smaller pokemon grabbing onto the larger pokemon and Zircon grabbing my mother, the four larger flying pokemon flew us out of the hallway we were in and into the party room. Streamers and bright lights were everywhere, a band was playing in the background who had a dramatic song playing as I came in on Amethyst with the rest of my pokemon, even Lovey and Black Spinal joined in with us who had been waiting out here with the others.
I saw that Alex was already here and all around stood many important people including all the Elite Four and some professors from all over the region, the president of Silph Co., Mr. Fuji and many other people who I hadn't met before.
"Please, may I have your attention please?" Lance stood out in a darker set of clothes, a suit and a cape for this evening event, and tried to grab the attention of everyone in the room. "I'd like to make a toast if everyone could please go to their respectful seats for a moment and grab their glasses." I looked back over at my mother and she shrugged and led me over to my seat with my pokemon in the center of the entire room with my pokemon. All of Alex's pokemon were released too and to be honest, when I looked out and around, so was everyone's that were here. Everyone, even the pokemon, had their own glass of any size that was able to be picked up with a hand, claw or tail (or in Ruby's case her scythe and in Sapphire's case, I held up her's for her.)
"I have a toast here, to our first and second champion." Lance said as he gestured to Alex and I, "Long have we waited for someone to become our champion, and not only did we get one today, but we got two! To say this day is a bright one indeed for us all would be an understatement to how we all fell. So thank you, Alexander Oak, Violet Vilmos, thank you both for everything you two have chased toward and accomplished, thank you for saving our region from Team Rocket and thank you both for being our champions."
Everyone cried out at that and took their drinks of the cider that was given (there was no alcohol since they're champions were kids at the age of thirteen almost fourteen.) "Now please, everyone, have a while to yourselves and enjoy this party, especially you two." Lance pointed at us. "This is a night entirely about you two and your teams, so please, eat to your heart's desire." Alex and I looked at each other and chuckled under our breathes before we stood up and hurried out to the balcony, away from the adults and our pokemon (who we both knew would be starved tonight.)
"Whoa! Slow down, Vi!" Alex was dressed in the same green dress shirt and black dress pants as he hand been before on the S.S. Anne. I ignored him and dragged him all the way to the end of the balcony out of anyone's view before I stopped and kept my hand in his.
"It's past time that we've had this conversation Alex, so I decided while I still had some courage today, I'd at least try to talk to you about this."
Alex blinked while he still had his hand in mine. "What do you mean, Vi?"
"You missed this morning."
"I - what?
"You missed this morning, when you kissed my cheek." His face erupted in a bright burning blush.
"Oh, that… look I can explain… wait, what?" He blinked and looked back up at me with a puzzled and shocked expression, "Did you say I missed?"
"I did, I think you meant to kiss me on my lips." Before he could do anything or before I could talk myself down, I used my other hand to grip the hair at the base of the back of his head and brought him down for a quick kiss on the lips. I felt him stiffen before me, but he soon relaxed into the kiss and used his other hand to grip my own head back.
"I guess I did make a mistake. Forgive me, Miss Kanto Champion, how can I make it up to you?"
"I think I can accept your apology, if you'd be so kind to accept this Kanto Champion as your girlfriend and kiss me again."
"I really don't think that'd be a problem at all, and I accept, my girlfriend, Miss Violet Vilmos, the Kanto Pokѐmon Champion."
"You're forgetting the second part of your deal." I playfully pouted.
"Oh, how could I be so stupid?" He only grinned at me and kissed me again and I sighed into it with no regrets.
Man, it's awesome to be the champion!

"So what I think, if I've researched the information well enough, is that what happens to you when your pokemon uses rage is that you become what is called a 'changeling'," Lance explained to me, "It's a cross of pokemon and human energy when they have an unbreakable bond between them, though I have found reports that show that this also happens with pokemon that don't know rage, but still have the strong bond, good or bad."
"I see," Lance was explaining to me some possible reasons and explanations for my changing with Amethyst when she draws on my energy and I take on some of her traits, "Thanks for this information, Lance; it really helps out with knowing more about this."
"It's not a problem, Violet; I wouldn't be doing my job if I didn't give you a hand when you needed it."
"Oh, don't worry about it too much; I just wanted to know if this was found often in the past-"
"Hey, Vi! It's time for you and Alex to get your rings and take your pictures!" I heard my brother call.
"I guess I better go for the moment, Lance, I'll talk to you in a bit."
"Take your time, Champion Violet; you deserve it after your long day today." I snickered and nodded to him before I hurried over to my brother where the jeweler was and in his hands was a purple box that he held out before me.
"We sized this for your right hand ring finger, Miss Violet, I believe that is what you requested and your size is seven, yes?" the man questioned me.
"Perfect, may I see the ring?" He nodded and opened the box before me. Inside of it was a silver diamond ring that had three tiny diamonds on either side of the ring and a larger one in the center of the oval part of the top of the ring. On that oval part with the diamond center, there were seven gems that all went around the diamond, a amethyst, an amber, a pink opal, a black chalcedony, a ruby, a blue zircon, a black spinal and a sapphire. They all were placed just beautifully and they represented all seven of my pokemon (I had chosen a pink opal for Lovey since she didn't have a gem name and I thought a pink opal would work with her name, Lovey.)
"It's beautiful… its prefect…" I gently took the ring from the box and put it on my right ring finger. It fit just right and stuck on my finger. I held up my hand before me to see how it looked and I just melted at the sight of it. "I can't believe it's mine…"
"Well, you did earn it, Vi." Alex walked up to me with his own ring now on his finger and wrapped his arms around my waist and kissed my forehead. I watched as the room went silent before my brother broke it.
"Dude! That's my sister!"
"Be quiet, Vincent!" My mother snapped at him before she cheered, "My baby's got a boyfriend!" She swept me into a tight hug and I struggled against her grip.
"Mom! You're killing me here!" Everyone laughed at that and the tension was gone in an instant.
"Ah! Miss Vilmos! Are you prepared to have your picture taken with your pokemon?" I looked up and saw a familiar thick bearded man that grinned at me with a black suit this time and a camera.
"It's the camera dude! You took my picture with Amethyst and Amber on the S.S. Anne!" I couldn't help but point at him and call him as such. He never did tell me his name after all.
Apparently my name calling didn't seem to bother the man at all. "I guess I deserve that for not telling you my name dear Violet, I am Maxwell Porter. And it seems that I'm here to take your picture again! And I hope you will allow me to take pictures of your pokemon again yes? It seems you have rarer pokemon with you now, would you allow me to add them to my collection?"
"So long as I get one for myself," I pulled away from my mother's grip and put my hands on my hips as I looked at him, "I still have the one you gave me last time. I need to get an album for it."
"Ah, don't worry yourself over it. You can pick one up tomorrow if you wish. Now then," Maxwell pulled out a camera and pointed it at me, "I believe your picture is first."
"Come on, you guys! Picture time and then you get to look at my ring with all your gems in it!" My pokemon all hurried over to me and we gathered before the camera. "Remember to say cheese!"
"Rhu!"
"Rai!"
"Gol!"
"Ee!"
"Ra!"
"Scy!"
"Ruunn!"
"Kaa!"
"Cheese!" I grinned, and he snapped the photo.
