Pokѐmon Journey I: Violet's Trial

Chapter 27: Strange New Pokѐmon

Violet's Point of View:

I watched in fear and wonder as my normal type was suddenly evolving from the light of the moon that he had called out to. Chalcedony was encased in a bright light similar to that of the moon before his body began to change and take on its new shape. His body became a little bit taller and larger, but not by much, just enough to stand another quarter of a foot over his old head. His body also slimmed out and was really thin, almost skin on bones thin, but it still looked filled in enough so it wasn't like that.

Suddenly he cried out again with a much deeper voice then before, I saw glowing yellow marks on him before the light shattered off of him and scattered like glitter on the wind in the moonlight. His entire body was onyx black and had glowing yellow marks all over his body. His fur was flat and against this skinny body, no longer puffy in any way, his tail was long and strait like it had been, but it was now sticking strait up into the air and had a glowing ring around it, the same as his ears which were standing up on end too. His eyes were a deep, dark red with a black, thin, slit like pupil in the middle of them. His yellow marks on his body died down in glowing, but the yellow markings still remained.

"Bre!" he suddenly cried out as he turned to face me with a smile and some energy now that he didn't seem to have earlier on. I pulled out my pokedex to see what he was now exactly.

Umbreon, the moonlight pokemon and the evolved form of eevee. When darkness falls, the rings on its body begin to glow, striking fear into the hearts of anyone nearby. When agitated, umbreon protect themselves by spraying poisonous sweat from their pores. Umbreon evolve from exposure to the moon's energy pulses. There are no known umbreon nests in the region.

"Umbreon… that's what you are now, Chalcedony?" My pokemon in return nodded up to me and leapt back up onto the back of my neck. He curled in there to the warmth from Alex's jacket (that had more or less become mine) and I slowly lifted my hand up to pet his fir. It was so smooth and soft under my fingers. I smiled at him. "I'm glad you're alright, Chalcedony."

"I've never seen a dark type before…" Alex muttered as he looked over at Chalcedony around my neck, "They look really cool. I think I might want to go find myself one of those. Not an umbreon of course, but a dark type."

"Eh, I think I'll stick with my team, not that I think Chalcedony doesn't look cool and all." My brother scratched the back of his head before he yawned. "Okay, enough staying around here, I'm heading to bed over at the pokemon center; we can talk with Celio and what not in the morning."

"I'll agree with that," Alex yawned as well, "I'm tired. After being lazy all day and then getting up to do something, I really want to head to bed."

"You guys are awful!" I snorted at them. "No energy left… shouldn't I be the one tired and not you? I mean, I sleep the most and get tired the quickest, you'd think it would be me."

"That's what I'm trying to figure out right now." My brother shrugged and sighed.

"Forget it, Vince, let's just go back." Alex shook his head before looking back at me, "Vi, if you still need to use some energy, then stay up and call Lance or talk with Celio, I mean, it's only eight or nine now, but they might still be up."

"Oh my Mew! That's right; I still have to call Lance!" I quickly threw out Amethyst's ball and she came out. She yawned, but instantly did her best to wake up for me as I climbed up on her back. "Sorry about this girl, but I need a lift back to the town, get me there and I promise you can go back to sleep."

My fire type nodded and spread her wings before she leapt up into the night sky and I heard the boys shouting behind me to wait up for them. I didn't wait up for them however, they had flying pokemon of their own and I was in a hurry. I hope Lance didn't try to reach me at all while I was away…

I jumped off my pokemon the instant she landed in town. I returned her and ran inside with Chalcedony still sleeping around my neck. Celio was there as I hurried inside and raised his eyebrow at my heavy breathing.

"Is something wrong, Violet? You sound like you're in a hurry." He got up to help me over to a chair, but I refused to sit down.

"Did… anyone… call while… I was … out?" I managed to gasp out in-between breaths.

"Uh, yes, Elite Four member Lance called and asked for you, but I told him you were on an errand and wasn't sure when you'd get back. He said that was fine and just to call him back when you got the chance. I don't think he wanted it to sound urgent, but I could hear a strain in his voice." He placed his hand on my shoulder. "Is something going on, Violet?"

"Yeah, something bad. I need a closed off room to call Lance where I won't be disturbed and no one can hear what we're saying Celio. You have one?"

"In the same room as my machine." I nodded and turned away from him to head to that room. I stopped before the door and dug through my bag and pulled out the ruby and tossed it to him.

"Hope that's what you need, it was the only one we found." I then hurried into the next room and closed the door behind me just as I heard him shouting for joy over the gem we'd brought him back.

I made my way over to the computer on the other side of Celio machine where a video phone was and I quickly typed in Lance's number at the Indigo Plateau he'd given me. I waited as it rang and tapped my fingers impatiently as I waited for him to pick up. His image soon came up and I sighed.

"Lance, I am so sorry that I wasn't here earlier-"

"That doesn't matter right now Violet; we have more pressing matters to worry about." Lance cut me off before I could finish. "Violet, Lorelei has temporarily left the Elite Four."

"What?" My eyes widened in surprise, "Why'd she do that? Did something come up?"

"Apparently pokemon were stolen from her home island by darkly clothed characters. She left without a word to the three of us; we had to shut down the Pokѐmon League here until we get her back. And I'm afraid she may need our help if she gets too far over her head."

"Oh Mew… is it the pokemon on Four Isle that were taken?"

"Yes…" he gave me a questioning look, "How'd you know?"

"I encountered two members of Team Rocket today, ones that had escaped us in Viridian and laid low for a while until Rose found them. She's trying to bring Team Rocket back up from the ground with the power of the same three gems I'm hunting for with Alex and Vince. Apparently Rose is calling the shots now that her husband is out of the way…"

"Either way, we need to stop them and help Lorelei so she doesn't put her own life in too much danger. Do you have a plan at all, Violet?"

"Yes, at least, I'm putting this together as I go, but I think we need to put all hands on deck for this. I'd like for you, Bruno, and Agatha to come here to One Isle and stay here with Celio, he's a pokemon maniac that's also going to use the gems, but to further help communications with all other regions. I've already found a gem for him, but that puts him and his machine at risk if we leave it unguarded. I'd also like you guys to take turns keeping an eye over these first three islands in case Team Rocket comes here. Vince, Alex, and I will search the other islands and help out Lorelei while we look for the gems. Now I know that this will weaken our strength back in Kanto," I told him before he could say anything, "Which is why, now I want all gym leaders to start patrolling their towns to check for any abnormal activity, and any close friends and powerful trainer they know that they could trust with this information I want to help out as well. No information about Team Rocket is to be leaked to the media to prevent mass chaos. If gym leaders are asked why they're doing this by the public, they are to give the answer that the Pokѐmon League wanted to test a few theories that they've had for a while between indoor and outdoor battling."

"I guess we can deal with that. We'll set it into motion and get over there as fast as we can, in the meantime, you kids should take an overnight boat to Four Isle to help out Lorelei."

"Don't worry Lance; I was just about to head out the door. Oh, and when you get to Vermillion, use the speed boat to get here, it's faster." I closed off the connection with Lance and hurried out of the room just to see the guys walking through the door.

I quickly grabbed their arms and dragged them to the docks where the boat was. I quickly saw the boat to Four Isle and got us on there with our rainbow passes and got the boys into the room for a night, they stopped growling at me when they got to crawl into bed. Chalcedony and I didn't however, while he still absorbed the moonlight from the back of my neck, I sat out on the surface of the deck and watched the moon above.

I sure hope Lorelei is okay…

HalloweenWitchHalloweenWitch

Morning came sooner than I thought it would, the night had carried on for the longest of time, but that was probably because it was winter and turned night quicker than in the summer. I'd stayed out all night and had little sleep compared to the boys, but I felt fine as for strength, but I had been worried and thought of Lorelei overnight. She could be in trouble, and who knows for how long? The woman and I hadn't really gotten off on the right foot, but now we were good friends, I couldn't imagine anything bad happening to her. I just hope we make it in time…

"Sis? What are you doing out here?" I lifted my head up to see Vince and Alex emerging from their room. I sighed and put my head back into my arms.

"I couldn't sleep, so I stayed out here all night. I couldn't stop worrying over Lorelei."

"Well, not sleeping isn't going to help you in helping her," Alex pointed out as he sat down beside me; Vince did the same on the other side. "Need I remind you that you tend to need a lot of sleep?"

"Need I remind you that I beat you and the Elite Four on only an hour or so?" I snapped at him.

"You're also better tempered after some sleep," Vince threw in, "Come on, Sis, just go to bed until we hit port, you'll feel better when you get some more sleep."

"But what if something happens?"

"Then we'll get you up, but right now, you're going to bed." Against my will, Alex picked me up from the ground and was careful to make sure Chalcedony was still in my hood as he carried me into the room we were staying in. I felt the soft bed hit my upset body and after a few moments of thinking I'd never fall asleep, I was out.

HalloweenWitchHalloweenWitch

I yawned as I felt myself coming to. I sat up slowly in my bed and rubbed my tired eyes, feeling a body moving and rubbing itself against mine. I saw lots of black and a little yellow and red before Chalcedony, in his new evolved form of an umbreon, came into my view. I smiled at him and patted his head before he jumped up into the hood of my jacket and I stood up from the bed.

It was only then that I realized I wasn't in the room on the boat the guys had left me in. My heart felt like it'd froze and I hurried to the door, almost relieved to see it was unlocked and opened to see my brother reaching for the doorknob with a shocked look on his face and Alex right behind him.

"Uh… rise and shine? Good morning?" My brother tried to say things that wouldn't upset me and I blinked a few times before I hissed at him.

"Where are we?" The question seethed through my teeth.

"Uh… Four Isle."

"And you didn't wake me up because…?"

"You were actually sleeping… we thought it best to leave you for a little bit while we looked around the island and tried to look for Lorelei."

"Don't freak out about it, Vi, we were coming back to get you and update you on what's happened." Alex said as he pushed his way past my brother to me. He kissed my forehead and lips before he took my hand in his, "Let's go talk during breakfast, I'm sure you're hungry, and we have plenty to tell you."

I scowled as Alex led me away, but I let him do so since he planned to wake me up. At least I did get some sleep. I will admit the boys were right; I needed a couple hours of sleep. I was tired, and apparently so was Chalcedony still, he slept all that time with me (but then again, when don't my pokemon sleep with me.)

The boys led me down to the first level of the pokemon center to a table where Nurse Joy that was stationed there already had a breakfast prepared for all of us, including our pokemon which we let out of their pokeballs to eat. The other pokemon gushed over Chalcedony's new appearance while Alex sat next to me and Vince across as we started in on our breakfast.

"Okay, so here's what's going on, Sis," My brother started out with a mouthful of eggs, "The other three members of the Elite Four arrived a short while back on One Isle and are keeping an eye on Celio and his machine. They gave us a call, or rather you, which we picked up for and promised to relay the information. We then started our search for Lorelei all over the island, but we didn't find her anywhere, even in her house that's right before the Icefall Cave."

"While we were searching however, we did get a tip from an elderly couple over in the corner on the other side of the island that Lorelei headed up to the cave yesterday and hasn't been seen since," Alex said between bits of his cereal.

"Oh! And that elderly couple gave Alex an egg!" Vince grinned as he told this and pointed down into Alex's lap. I looked over at it and there was a small off-white colored egg with small green specks on its shell. Alex sighed as we looked at it.

"That looks a bit big for a normal egg," I commented dryly. My brother only laughed.

"It's a pokemon egg, Vi, that's why it's so large," Alex mumbled angrily, "I didn't even want the egg."

"Now, don't tell it that. You are its' parent, Alex. A baby needs to hear that it's loved." I reached over to feel the texture of the egg in his lap. It was quite warm, at least Alex was taking good care of it.

"Whatever, leave him be, Vi, now hurry up! I wanna go look at that Icefall Cave!" My brother was apparently already finished with his meal and I raised an eyebrow at him.

"Slow down, you glutton, we're eating, go ahead if you want but we'll eat at a normal human pace and meet you out there when we're done." Alex snapped at my brother and in return, Vince growled back. The two of them were about to butt heads and I quickly pulled Alex's egg out of his lap to prevent crushing it and finished up my breakfast.

"Violet?" I turned my head and looked up at Nurse Joy as she entered the room with a strange case that was mostly made of glass. She set it down on the table and took the egg in my arms and placed it inside it before setting it to a certain setting and handing it back to me. "This is the container for Alexander's egg. He asked that I get him one since you all were going to be heading into the Icefall cave and he was afraid to leave the little one here. You might want to take the little one with you while these two duke it out, I'd rather it didn't hear too much of this fighting."

"I was planning on it; just finishing up breakfast." My pokemon had already finished up their own meals and returned everyone that didn't want to travel out in the cold. Chalcedony seemed to be one of the brave souls along with Amber. And while Sapphire was used to the cold, she didn't want to get in the way and was still a bit tired.

With the egg in my arms and my pokemon either in my hood or on my shoulder, I headed out of the center and headed toward the Icefall Cave, where hopefully Lorelei was alright.

HalloweenWitchHalloweenWitch

I was hardly much into the Icefall Cave, not even a few feet before I saw some of the new pokemon that were here, one of them was a small circular pokemon that looked to be covered in a thick, dense coat of tan fur with black stripes to keep it warm. I couldn't see its eyes, but it had a cute pink snout at the front of it. I pulled out my pokedex to see what it was for the professor.

Swinub, the pig pokemon. If it smells something enticing, it dashes off headlong to find the source of the aroma. It rubs its snout on the ground to find and dig up food. It sometimes discovers hot springs. Swinub only seem to be found sometimes in the Icefall cave on Four Isle.

Next to it had been an even larger pokemon that had the same fur color as the swinub, but it didn't have the black stripes on it. It also had tusks and even more fur on it, or it was just longer. It was also almost to the height of my shoulder and it also had its snout like the swinub did.

Piloswine, the swine pokemon and the evolved form of swinub. If it charges at an enemy, the hairs on its back stand up straight. It is very sensitive to sound. Because the long hair all over its body obscures its sight, it just keeps charging repeatedly. Piloswine are only found few to none on Four Isle in its Icefall cave.

Interesting, it's another evolution species; it must live here because of the cold climate and its thick fur to keep it warm. With a smile to the pokemon and as to not disturb them, I moved on to the next room in this cave where more running water was going on.

This place was a lot like that of the Seafoam Islands where I met Sapphire and her family. Though this area I didn't have to worry about flooding. The water flowed down and out of the cave rather than around it like where Sapphire had placed her nest. A waterfall near the entrance made sure of that.

Though one of the things in this place that were different were the ice patches on the ground, some of them were so fragile that if we weren't careful, we would end up at the very bottom of the cave. I had to be careful of where I stepped and how heavily I stepped onto it. Carrying two pokemon and an egg doesn't exactly make it a good amount of weight to avoid falling.

I felt Chalcedony stretch against the back of my neck and inside of my hood before he stuck out his head by my neck. "Morning Chalcedony, you enjoy a good nap?'

"Bre…" He yawned and curled back up into my hood.

"You're being lazy today, must have to do with your new personality since you evolved." I rolled my eyes at him. "I guess I have to get used to you sleeping in my hood from now on, don't I?" I could feel him grin at me from behind my neck and I heard Amber laugh.

"Rai, rai raichu rai!" Amber jumped off my shoulder and ran around us.

"That's right, Amber! He is just like Amethyst!" I laughed with her while the newly evolved dark pokemon of mine only snuggled into the warmth of my neck.

"Hey, Violet! Wait up!" I turned my head to see the boys catching up with us. I grinned at them while they caught their breath and handed the egg back to Alex to hold onto.

"You suck, Sis, why'd you leave us back at the pokemon center?" My brother whizzed at me while he scowled.

"The egg didn't need to hear what you two were saying, so I left. Simple as that." My brother snorted while I walked up to Alex and took on of his hands into my own while he used the other to hold onto the egg. "And I found two of the new pokemon in here already."

"Which ones?" Alex questioned.

"Swinub and Piloswine, it's another evolutional species. They live here due to their thick fur coats and their hardy nature."

"What about those two over there?" I turned my head to look where my brother was pointing toward and saw there was another two pokemon that I'd yet to see, nor that I'd seen before in my life.

One of the two of them was about twice the size of the other. It was a bird, black and white with a yellow beak that stood up on webbed feet and had a black outline around its eyes and a bag over its shoulders. It worriedly flapped its wings while it talked with the smaller pokemon. I pulled out my pokedex to look it up.

Delibird, the delivery pokemon. It nests at the edge of sharp cliffs. It spends all day carrying food to its awaiting chicks. There are tales about lost people who were saved by the food it had. Delibirds are uncommon and are only seen in this region in the Icefall Cave on Four Island.

The other pokemon was only half of the delibird's size. It was also a blue, black in color with a feather on the top of its head, red in colored with a faded tip to it. It had had long and wide feet that it stood on and both of its hands were long claws that looked like they could be curled up to hide or released to attack. This pokemon was much quieter and looked away from the bird as they looked down the tunnel before back each other. I pointed my pokedex at that pokemon next.

Sneasel, the sharp claw pokemon. Its paws conceal sharp claws. If attacked, it suddenly extends the claws and startles its enemy. It's normally vicious in nature and tends to drive pidgey from their nests and feds on the eggs left behind. Sneasel tend to only be found in the region in the Icefall Cave on Four Isle.

"Doesn't look like it's very vicious, it looks like it's worried," I commented quietly.

"Hey, it's also a dark type! Just like Chalcedony!" my brother said a little too loudly then we'd like. Alex and I both hushed him, but the two pokemon sadly still heard us despite our efforts to stay out of their way and not disturb them. I smiled at the two of them nervously.

"Sorry about that, we didn't mean to bother you, we'll just get going now." I started to pull my brother away with the help of Alex and Amber.

"Vi! We already got their attention; why not ask them if they've seen Lorelei?"

Apparently that got the pokemons' attention even further.

"Sneasel sne!" The sneasel used a powerful speed I didn't see often to catch up with me and pulled on my arm. "Sne sne sneasel sne sneasel!"

"Whoa, whoa, slow down! Repeat that a little slower or someone translate!" I tried to calm down the pokemon that was trying to drag me to the room behind it. The delibird then came over and grabbed my other arm and started to drag me as well.

"Bre!" Chalcedony snapped from atop my shoulder and gave a deadly look, that with his new and darkly colored and strangely angled body could accomplish, and the delibird quickly let go and hid behind its friend that only was half its size. The sneasel, however, didn't let go, but only tried to pull me harder.

"Sneasel sne!" it cried out again.

"Bre? Umbre bre bre umbreon?" Chalcedony calmed down a bit and listened to the panicking pokemon.

"De de!" the delibird cried. "De de de de de deeee!"

"Chalcedony?" my dark type pokemon turned to me. "What's going on?"

My umbreon then took a minute to explain to me what exactly was going on and why these pokemon were acting as they were. In the end, I gasped as I looked to the tunnel behind them.

"Lorelei's here? And so is Team Rocket?" My dark type and the two wild pokemon nodded to me, "Well then, what are we waiting for?" I took off before the rest of them to the other room where apparently Lorelei was, but the others were quickly catching up on my heels.

We ran along the icy path before us, hitting patches of the ice here and there as we came closer and closer to where Lorelei apparently was, dealing with the intruders who've been stealing pokemon from here for. Upon the room coming into view, I felt my feet carrying me faster than before and lowered myself closer to the ground to keep up the pace and go faster, using the ice to my advantage.

When I got a good look inside of where we were supposed to go, I saw that Lorelei had been knocked to the ground and the Rockets stood over her. She's been thoroughly beaten by these men, both physically and mentally it seemed. The three of them seemed to be talking to themselves before one really gutsy (or idiotic, I'm not sure which) started to reach for her again and grabbed her shirt and ripped down the front which ended up throwing her back on the ground again and her bra was starting to show, and that's when I lost my temper.

"Amber! Quick attack!" My raichu launched itself forward and with the help of the ice she easily made it to the Rocket member in no time and slammed into him at full force and knocked him into an icy wall. The other two members looked in my direction worriedly as I came to a skidding halt before Lorelei.

"Violet!" she cried out worriedly, "Be careful. They're stronger then they look!"

"I seriously doubt that, they've never really caused me a problem." Chalcedony decided then to join us and came down off my shoulders and landed gracefully on the ground before me. The Team Rocket grunts freaked when they saw my newly evolved pokemon because of his menacing look in his red eyes. "Chalcedony, use shadow ball!"

A massive amount of dark energy came before my pokemon's mouth before he short it at the enemy. The two Rocket members were thrown aside and landed painfully while my pokemon raced after them and bared his fangs at their fallen and frightful bodies.

My brother laughed. "Chalcedony's just as much of a badass as he was as an eevee!" My brother nearly fell over with laugher as he watched my dark type in action. "No wonder he was sleeping all day! He was keeping all his energy to kick their butts!"

"I… I can't believe it…" Lorelei stuttered from her spot on the ground, "I had a hard time with just one of them, but your pokemon are only toying with them…"

"Yeah, you get used to it." I pulled off my jacket and threw it to Lorelei to put over herself. I stood before her and looked out at the grunts. "Amber! Chalcedony! Round 'em up! And separate their pokemon from there, we don't need any added… unnecessary happenings." My pokemon nodded and got right to work. Amber used her tail to grab all their legs and pull them over to me together while Chalcedony ripped off their belts and pulled them over to the other side of the room out of anyone's reach but his own. Amber kept their legs tied up with her tail so that she could electrocute them if she needed to, and with all her power, all she had to do was spark her cheeks to do that. Chalcedony stood next to the pokeballs.

"Now, we have a few questions for you three that we need to ask, and you will answer, or else…" I gave a slight nod to my electric pokemon and she sparked her cheeks, electrocuting the men wrapped up in her tail, "And that was only a taste of her power, every time you don't tell us or lie, the power goes up." I gave them a smile. "So let's not do that, okay?" The Team Rocket members didn't say anything, but I know they were cursing themselves that they had to deal with me. "Good, first question: where are you keeping the pokemon you took from this island?"

Silence.

"Uh oh…" I heard my brother mutter.

I blinked a few times and walked around the three of them. "No one wants to tell me?" I watched their faces twitched in fear, but they tried to keep them neutral. "Very well, let's go another level up then, shall we?" I nodded over to my electric type and she nodded back, my electric type sparked her cheeks and was about to release it-

"WAIT!" one of the grunts shouted, "I'll talk! I swear! Just don't electrocute me!"

"Shut it!" one of his partners yelled back at him," The punishment will be worse if the boss lady-"

"Quiet!" I hissed at him and Chalcedony growled at him and the other grunt shut up instantly. I walked before the one that offered to confess and lifted his chin to look at me in the eyes. I could feel Amethyst's rage from inside her pokeball. I could feel more powerful emerging from my core; somehow she's used her attack through the pokeball to give me an edge. "Are you still going to talk?"

I watched him nod nervously.

"Good, now, answer the question I gave you."

"O-on Five Isle, in the meadow there." The grunt hesitated with his answer, but I couldn't sense a lie from him. "It was built around the same time as the base in Celadon after the destruction of our base in the Victory Road."

"Good, now how do I get into the base?"

"It requires two passwords to get in, we only know one of them thought since they change with every time we have a new mission so if we we're captured and the base is found, you need to find the other set of grunts that were looking around the areas of Five Isle for the other gems that the boss lady wants."

"And what is that password?"

"It's-" The grunt was cut off by a fist being thrown in my direction. My hand caught the fist and snapped it backwards, swiftly breaking the wrist in my hand. The man screamed as I released his hand, tossing and turning from where he was thrown.

"No! Please! Its Black Soul! That's the password! Please don't hurt him!" the grunt who provided me with all the answers shouted. "He's my brother!"

Just as I was about to turn to him and respond, a while light glowed behind us. We all turned toward the light and saw it was Alex's egg. He quickly pulled it out of the container and held it in his arms as the egg cracked and suddenly shattered and a pokemon was born. The pokemon was small and a grey-green in color with a red underbelly and black triangles under its eyes. A single point was on its head and a short tail was behind it, but it was bushed out in all directions. Its eyes were white with a black pupil and it had short and stubby legs and arms. Alex held it in his arms while I pulled out my pokedex quickly to see what it was. My curiosity was greater at that moment.

Larvitar, the rock skin pokemon. It is born underground and feeds on soil, after it has eaten a large mountain, it will fall asleep so it can grow. Larvitar nests are only seen somewhat on Seven Isle in its Seavault Canyon.

"Whoa, I didn't think the egg would hatch so soon," my brother commented.

"Quite, I'll be there in a moment boys, so just keep it warm for the moment while I take care of these three." I turned back to the grunts as they were all gathered together. "Now that password, Black Soul was it?"

"Yes ma'am," the third member finally spoke up, "Is that all you need? Because if it is, we'd like to go to jail now."

I blinked at them. "That's a first; I can honestly say I've never heard that before."

"Boss Lady Rose dragged us back into the organization after we'd escaped the first time. We just wanted to start over a new and forget all about Team Rocket, but she held our middle brother and our sister over our heads. Our middle brother here, the one you attacked and that was the most aggressive of us all, had a device that would electrocute his heart if we didn't do as she said. And she's keeping our sister captive as another member inside the base." The eldest of them sighed.

"Our parents owed them money," the youngest told me, "The boss had our parents killed and forced us into the organization about a year ago. Both of our siblings are in danger…"

"Vince," I turned away from the young men and looked at my brother, "Take these three guys back to Lorelei's house with Alex and Lorelei using Alex's alakazam. Find some normal clothes for them and get that man to a doctor to get out that machine. If anyone asks who they are, tell them that by decree of the champion, they're under witness protection of the champion and the police and that they're names aren't to be released."

"Sis! You can't be serious!"

"I can and I am Vince, they're not lying. I can tell with my heightened senses from Amethyst. Their words are true and their hearts, while stained slightly, are pure." I turned back to the three brothers, "If you three promise to do exactly as we say, I can promise you won't go to jail and I'll get your sister back."

The three men went speechless as Amber allowed them to get to their feet and Chalcedony jumped back onto my shoulders to lie down. Amber then jumped back on my shoulder and Alex released his alakazam.

"Are you three alright with this?" I asked the brothers again. They nodded and gathered toward Alakazam. The youngest however, not looking much more than about seventeen or so.

"Champion Violet," he began nervously, "While we're at the hospital and your gonna meet up with us later, since it looks like you're staying, I think, could you… maybe… burn our uniforms for us?"

I giggled and nodded to him. "Not a problem; I'm going to release the pokemon you had on you from Rose."

"Please free them," the eldest said as he motioned his younger brother over to him. "They don't need to suffer anymore." Alex's alakazam's eyes then glowed and they were gone in the next second.

I sighed and looked back at my two pokemon that were out. "Let's get to work then you two." I made my way across the room and reached for the belts.

After releasing the pokemon, I'd spend another short while looking over the cave for the sapphire or the emerald for Celio. After checking over a few many times and seeing nothing for any kind of gem, I hurried back over to Lorelei's house to find that the place was only filled with Lorelei herself. I saw she was on the video phone talking to Lance about what'd taken place.

While she was busy with that, I grabbed Alex's jacket which I saw was on the back of a chair in her dining room and the uniforms from the forced brothers. I grabbed them all in my arms and walked outside. The sun had already set, even though it was only six in the evening, it was pitch black with only the moon and stars to light the way. Chalcedony seemed to have all the energy in the world now that the moon was out, he jumped off my shoulders and ran around me in circles and playfully nipped at the clothes in my arms.

I dropped them to the ground once I got into a more rocky area away from the public eye. I released Amethyst from her pokeball and pointed at the pile before me. "Please burn them, Amethyst."

My fire type nodded and blew a large, yet contained flame at the pile. It quickly ignited and we watched as the clothes burned, the marks quickly disappeared as the fire spread all over the uniforms.

"Hey," I turned and watched as Lorelei walked over to where I was around the fire, "I just got off the phone with Lance."

"I know. I saw you were still on with him when I walked in."

"How are the other pokemon you released?"

"A little nervous and freaked out, but otherwise fine for the most part."

"That's good to hear, and any luck finding that gem?"

I shook my head as I turned back to the fire. "Wasn't in there. I looked everywhere in the cave and in every nick and corner. No luck anywhere."

"Well then, the next place to look for it is Five Isle, where that base is." Lorelei kicked a rock into the fire. "I'll come with you and-"

"No Lorelei, I'd prefer if you'd stay here." I cut the woman off before she could finish. "The pokemon here on your island need you to help them, protect them if more members come, at least have some sort of line of defense, and someone to lead them back home when we've freed the pokemon trapped on Five Isle."

"But I could help-!"

"I know you could, but I have enough on my plate as it is, and would you be able to handle a knife being thrown at your face if you were between what Rose wanted?" I turned back to her in such a rush and with the anger I had in my heard. "I've already placed both my brother and my boyfriend's lives at stake, not to mention all our pokemon. I can't risk another life, and there are others who need you around when I can't be there." I looked up at my fire pokemon and nodded to her. She puffed out another blast of fire to hit the still burning clothes. "Those three guys need you to stay here with them right now while I free their sister. Someone needs to stay with them and protect them incase Rose decided to 'cut them loose', if you know what I mean."

She lowered her head. "You knew I would ask, didn't you?"

I shrugged. "I figured you'd at least try to ask me. It honestly doesn't surprise me, but you're needed here more then with me. And I'll have enough hands as it is, but when I need you, I'll call you, I promise. Agreed?"

She nodded. "Yes ma'am." She sighed and watched the fire get to the last of the clothes. "When do you plan to head out?"

"As soon as I find out the boys are settled with you, then I'll take my boys and get going. I wanna get over to the other island as quickly as possible. I still have a lot of energy and so does Chalcedony, he'll help me out while my pokemon and the boys sleep for a little while, plus I got a little too much sleep today."

"Should I call the Nurse Joy on Five Isle to make you something to go while you search?"

I finally turned and gave her a small smile. "That's sounds pretty nice Lorelei, thanks."

The woman turned on her heels and left after she nodded to me. "Oh, and Violet?" I looked up to her again as she stopped where she's stood at the corner. "They removed the device from the young man's chest, he's in the clear now, and they've checked him over for any others, they found only one other small one in his wrist… that you broke along with his wrist."

I snorted at that. Man, did I know all along? I shook my head and listened as her footsteps died in the distance and all there was left was the gentle roar of the fire, before it died completely and I was left in the moonlight with my pokemon.
