Chapter 24: The Birth (LAST CHAPTER UNTIL SEQUEL!)
Months passed and everyone seemed to accept the fact that Casper and Thatch were together now. Even the teachers approved of it. It wasn't hard for the teachers to find out about their relationship. Why? Because over the months, Casper and Thatch's daughter had begun to grow inside of Casper.
Everybody was quite shocked to find out that the two were having a baby together. Especially Jimmy and Casper's family. But with enough time, everyone was soon able to accept it. Finally, the day came for the little girl to join the world.
It started as a normal day. Everybody was in History class with Ms. Hopper, learning more about the zombies defeat (much to Mantha's dismay, may I add), when Casper felt a kick in his stomach.
"Boy," Casper sighed to Thatch. "She's been kicking for awhile now. Do you think it's soon?"
Thatch placed his hand on Casper's stomach, feeling their child kick.
"Very soon." Thatch nodded.
The hour continued on, completely normal, but Casper couldn't focus. Everytime he tried to think about Ms. Hopper's questions, the baby would kick. Suddenly, the baby kicked with full force, actually hurting Casper.
"OW!" He cried out, clutching his stomach.
His sudden outburst had caused the whole class to look at him, some with suspicion, others with concern.
"Casper…" Ms. Hopper started. "Are you alright?"
"I'm fine." Casper lied. "It's just the baby."
Ms. Hopper wasn't to sure as she and Thatch exchanged glances. They ignored it and Ms. Hopper went back to the lesson.
Casper, recovered from the sudden pain, tried focusing again, but the baby kicked again… this time, knocking the ghost right onto the floor. Sense ghost were lighter to air it was an easy task for the child.
"OOOWWWW!" Casper moaned in pain.
"CASPER!" Thatch, Ra, and Mantha cried out.
Thatch knelt down to Casper and held his hand.
"Casper, what is it?" He asked anxiously.
"The baby…" Casper gasped. "I think she's coming."
"SHIT!" Thatch cried outloud, not caring about a teacher being in the room. "We gotta get him to the nurse!"
Ms. Hopper slammed her textbook close and used her levitation powers to carry Casper to the nurse's office.
"What in the name of Kibosh is going on?" Dr. Burns had stepped out into the hall.
Dr. Burns didn't need an answer as he saw Ms. Hopper and Thatch running a squirming Casper to the nurse's office. Dr. Burns and a bunch of other teachers that have seen this, including the headmasters, decided to follow them in case anything happened.
They all finally got to the nurse's office and Nurse Medusa took Casper and placed him on the bench.
"She's ready." Nurse Medusa confirmed. "Thatch, I'll need your help, the rest of you, stay out."
With that, Nurse Medusa closed the door on the teachers and the students that had come in concern.
"What do you need my help for?" Thatch asked. "I don't know how to deliver a baby."
"That's not what I'm asking from you." Nurse Medusa exclaimed. "While Casper is giving birth, he's gonna be going through a lot of pain. He needs someone he loves to comfort him."
Thatch's eyes widened and he nodded in understanding. He sat beside Casper and took his hand, squeezing it slightly.
"You ready Casper?" Nurse Medusa asked, putting surgical gloves on.
"I'm ready." Casper nodded.
"Ok, good. I need you to try to keep calm, ok? Normally i would be able to give you painkillers, but as you're a ghost and all… just focus at the task at hand and bear with it."
She gave him a kind gently spread Caspers legs and gently put a clean sheet over Casper. She didn't want thatch to see, as sometimes the fathers would pass out. Little babies, yeeesh.
"I need you to push now darling. That's it… Ok, now lets get a rhythm. Three, two, one, push!"
Casper cried out in pain and held onto Thatch's hand. It felt like he was being ripped up. The nurse muttered encouraging words while Thatch just looked panicked.
"Three, two one, PUSH!"
Casper screamed. It hurt so much… but he heard the baby crying as well. Oh it hurt like hell… He relaxed back in the seat, forcing his eyes to stay open. He could see the nurse bustling around somewhere in the corner of his eye. Thatch was standing above him, smiling down at Casper.
Casper's mouth felt dry and he just couldn't put two syllables together to say anything. He felt a dull ache now, but nothing too bad… The nurse finished what she was doing and walked back to Casper and Thatch, smiling as she carried a bundle in a pink blanket.
"Congratulations you two." Nurse Medusa said happily. "You've brought a healthy baby girl into the world."
"A girl." Thatch smiled. "A girl."
Thatch, suddenly overcome with joy, leapt up and ran to the door. He opened it up to see the teachers and students waiting patiently.
"It's a girl!" He spread the news.
Everybody, happy with the news, clapped and cheered in approval, happy to have a new baby girl in the world.
Thatch smiled at their praise and went back to Casper, who now had the child in his arms.
"What does she look like?" Thatch asked, suddenly afraid to approach.
"Why don't you see for yourself?" Casper suggested.
Thatch gulped as he made his way to the two. He took his finger and pulled down the blanket, uncovering the baby. Thatch's eyes gleamed as he took a look at his new daughter. She looked exactly like him, except for being female and having straight black hair with white stripes.
"She's beautiful."
Suddenly, the baby opened her eyes, this is when the two noticed her crystal blue eyes.
"What are we going to call her?" Casper asked.
"... Angelina." Thatch suggested. "We'll call her Angelina."
"Angelina is a wonderful name." Casper agreed. "Welcome to the Underworld Angelina."
