The silhouette leans over her once again , but this time , it speaks. Its voice is female , and seems to change from sweet to bitter un the space of a sentence. It is vaguely familiar , but she doesn't know why.

"Your precious little kohai found the song the other day! But he doesn't remember it!" the voice laughed. "And even better, he's only just started to wonder what has happened to you! Oh , it's hilarious!"

The words make her struggle , flail , try to get up and out , to find everyone and fix this mess , but she can barely see , and the silhouette pins her down with a surprisingly iron grip.

"Now, now. The class has been complaining of hearing noises from up here…don't make me angry. You know I want you guys to be forgotten until the last moment. Forgotten! Your worst fear , that , isn't it?"

She hates that the silhouette knows this , but right now , she is more afraid about what would happen next , and for the others.

She doesn't realise she has been drugged again until it is too late.

Extract from a magazine interview with two young up-and-coming models(indicated here with initials SI and JE ), June 2011

SI: Yeah, one of the things we have in common is crappy lives.
JE: That's so right. I doubt we would have become good friends otherwise. But to be honest , Shiori-Chan's life was more violin-music-tragic while mine was just gritty urban crap. But we're here now , and that's what matters.
YK: So, you became friends pretty quickly then? That's somewhat surprising , given the highly competitive nature of modelling.
SI: Now see, that's a myth I want to challenge. Sure it's tough , and not everyone can make it , but strong bonds can be formed in the. Like with Junko-Chan.
YK:I see. And how did that change when Enoshima-san got accepted to Hope's Peak?
JE: I seriously think it should have been Shiori-Chan that got into Hope's Peak! I mean , we're the same age , got into modelling at the same time , we both like trying new and crazy things , and let's face it , we're both pretty! Sure , I'm a bit more famous , but Shiori-Chan…she's a lot more nicer than I am. She deserves it more.
YK: And why would that be?
SI: She's referring to my childhood.
YK:I see…
SI: But really, things like that, they don't matter . I don't mind that Junko-Chan got in and I didn't.
YK: Ok then , let's change the subject. Each of you tell me one thing that your fans may not have known about you before.
JE: But when we do that , it won't be unknown , will it? Shiori-Chan, you go first.
SI: Erm….I have a tattoo. It's of my parents' names , and my little brother's name. I won't tell where , though. That's still a secret.
YK: And what about you , Enoshima-san?
JE: Oh this one will be so funny to you, lol. I may seem spontaneous, but really , I plan eve-r-y-thing! Literally. And if it's a long term project I stick things up and draw up lists and…well , let's just say my pin board in my bedsit is full to bursting right now. I could tell you what I'll be doing when I am 24 years old…but I won't!

A list that was later used as scrap paper for a shopping list:

Things I could do with 'gift box':

Use them to frame another student-or possibly to frame her, specifically. Will be useful if she gets to close or starts to remember.

Present them to her during her execution-now that would be funny, LOL.

Just use them in another execution. It's not like they'll notice.

Bury them?

Make a soup?

Give to some dogs. I mean , why not?

Last resort. If they rebel. Not likely , but still.

He walked slowly to the grave, flowers in his hand, thinking , and thinking. Could he have stopped this earlier? Should he have?

He hadn't really believed that she would go through with it. Not really. He had hoped she'd grow out of it , or at least recover and then leave it behind as a symptom of her madness. But instead , her mind went deeper into the recesses , and it all became too real.

At first, he got through it by telling himself that he was the mad one , that this was what the over-privileged bastards of the world deserved. And as all he did was sub and upload the videos , this was easy to do. This wasn't his idea.

But then came the girl. The girl. That was totally different , that situation. Sweet , in a sad and misguided way. Couldn't she have made an exception ? Especially considering who she was. But she hadn't recognised her , and if she did , she didn't care anymore.

She didn't care that now she was betraying her friends. And that was the breaking point for him. The moment he realised that going along with it wasn't protecting his remaining family , but harming it.

But still , he couldn't bring himself to tell her so. She could be so scary when wronged.

He reached the grave , and knelt down. He arranged the flowers in front of it , and traced the lettering on the stone.

Taken too soon

"Hey , what do you think?" He asked in a broken whisper. "Is this really right…Nee-san?"

So….if things hadn't fallen into place already, they should begin to do so now. You may have noticed the slightly different spelling of a certain name there-it was entirely deliberate. I know nothing about Kanji except that there are often different ways of writing characters. This is what the spelling is meant to represent. Of course, if this is one of the cases where that isn't so , then I plead creative license.
