Darkened Jealousy – Chapter 9

The long awaited chapter! I love you guys so much, and I was having some depression issues of my own, and was rushed to the hospital not too long ago. I haven't been having a nice time, and plus I forgot my entire plot, so I'll be remaking that! Of course, all of my fanfictions when done will be redone, due to my earlier noobiness.

Anywho, I hope you all enjoy! I'mma make it longer to suit you guy's taste 3.

Read and review! Reviews remind me that I am an author!

"I only want to protect you, Kyoko…" Ren whispered, his eyes locked into mine. I only saw deep pools of some unfamiliar emotion… but what was it? It was like what Shou had given me with hooded eyes not long before, but so much different in a way that I honestly can't explain.

"Protect… me? Why would you want to do that?" I asked, my voice squeaky and uneven, which made his eyes widen. What was running through his head…?

"Kyoko… I—" He started, but was cut off by the abrupt screech of tires as Ren swore. Ren was swearing…? He only did that when he was extremely mad… other than that, he was reasonable and calm.

A car had blown past a red light, causing us to halt in our tracks. What in the world was going on with Ren? He was paler than usual, his eyes slightly darker, but I blamed that on the light.

"Look out!"He yelled just before a car slammed into ours, the groan of metal filling my ears and his hand touching mine just before everything went black.

"Hurry! Get her out of there!" A young, unfamiliar voice called, a practiced casual yet demanding tone to his voice.

"We're trying! The door handle is smashed shut!" Another voice, much closer, called back, a slight edge of panic in their yell. Door handle..? Oh yeah, now I remember… A car had crashed into ours! Was Ren okay?

My consciousness began to fade once more, but not before a scent I recognized enveloped me, lifting me out of the car and out of consciousness.

"Listen, Tsuruga-san, we cannot permit you to see her…" A male, gruff voice spoke, causing a practical growl of impatience from another.

"Why the fuck not?" The man—Ren – swore back, vaguely surprising my altered state of mind. He must have been worried…

"She's in critical condition, and is under extreme surveillance until further notice… She's currently in a coma, and we aren't certain when she'll be out."

I wanted to listen more, but my consciousness faded out from underneath me, the black waters sucking me under into unconsciousness.

"Kyoko… Please be okay…" A voice begged, a familiar scent wreathing around me. Ren… he was sitting beside me, holding my hand.

"I couldn't live with myself if you died… I l—" I could no longer hear his voice, but I willed myself to lightly squeeze his palm as best I could, but I was sucked under so quickly that I could only hear his gasp of surprise.

I fought the currents, but lost anyways as I fell into unconsciousness.

I opened my eyes groggily, my body stinging with pain. How long had I been out…? Glimpsing my surroundings, I realized I was in a hospital. But why was I here…?

Tires screeching and the smell of flaming oil filled my mind, reminding me of why. I was lucky to be alive…

I suddenly became aware of a slight weight on my stomach. It was Ren… he was lying on my stomach. But why was he here?

His hair was spread around my thigh over the cover, and looked soft and silky. Reaching out, I ran my hand through the length of his hair, wincing at my sore muscles.

His chocolate eyes flickered open, staring at me, and suddenly filled with relief and something I still am unable to place… it was on the tip of my tongue, but why couldn't I identify it…?

"Thank god… You're okay…" He whispered, suddenly pulling me into his arms like I had done not long before.

I winced, drawing in a pained breath and he lurched away, lightly placing me back on the pillow. "Sorry… may I see…?" He whispered, and I nodded, biting my lip.

He pulled my shirt up to the bottom of my ribs very carefully, and sucked in a breath. I was black and blue all over my stomach and arms, and guilt embedded his eyes.

"I'm sorry, Kyoko… If I had been paying more attention…" He whispered, but I cut him off, shaking my head.

"It wasn't your fault. It was nobody's fault, except maybe the person who hit us." I whispered, giving him a shy smile. He gave me a lopsided grin, but it didn't reach his eyes.

"What were you going to tell me…?" I asked, but he shook his head, changing the subject and intriguing my curiosity. What was he going to say…? Perhaps it was nothing?

"I'm just glad you're okay, Kyoko… I don't know what I would've done if you had died…" He whispered, and there was the unfamiliar emotion in his eyes.

I was enraged by the fact that I couldn't match where it was from. I had seen it in his eyes too much.

When I was kissing him in his dressing room., his eyes raked over me and stuck to mine with the most delicious gaze.

When Shou looked at me, but the look in his was… menacing, and frightened me to the core.

What was this look…? Suddenly the idea of it flooded my mind. It wasn't anything that I had thought of before.

In Shou, it was a lusty glare.

In Ren, on the other hand… it was love and desire.

Shivers raced down my spine as I looked at him with new eyes, the locks in my heart broken and smashed.

No… I had to be wrong! Nobody could love me… Shou was right. Ren wouldn't want a whore like me that practically jumped him in his dressing room! God, I was such an idiot to get my hopes up…

"Kyoko, are you alright…?" Ren asked, his eyes wide. I realized that I was glaring with full on hatred at the wall. He stared at me quizzically as I shook my head furiously, but that gaze was quickly replaced with fear as I grasped my head.

A low groan of pain sounded from somewhere in the room, and I realized that it was from me. My head felt like it was smashed in by a hammer, making me fall backwards onto the bed.

Ren got up, slamming open my door and calling a doctor, but sleep pulled at me and quickly drowned me under, exhaustion pulsing in waves over me.

When I awoke next, Ren wasn't in the room, but his things sat in the corner. I sat up, looking around, and he walked back into the room with exhaustion in his eyes before he glanced at me. His eyes lit up, a smile on his face as he crossed over to me.

I don't know what came over me, but I had to figure out if he did love me. As soon as he got close enough, I knotted my fingers into his hair and pulled him close, crashing my lips into his.

Surprise fell over him, making him freeze, but I didn't pull back. He soon kissed me back, a low growling sound in the back of his throat.

Could I be right…? Does he love me…?

'He's only using you…' Words from a earlier point in time filled me, and I pulled back, my hands falling to my lap as I began to cry.
