Rose left that next morning and Zachery didn't hear anything out of her for weeks. Every day he would rise in the morning, fight off the Forsaken, and go to bed that night worrying himself sick over his best friend. It wasn't until several weeks later that something interesting happened.
He rose one morning to see the camp all a flutter with activity. Quickly pulling on his plate armour, he rushes outside and towards the front line. Once there he meets with one of the commanding officers. "What's going on here, Commander?"
"The Forsaken are pulling back, Sir," he says while looking through a handheld telescope.
"What?" Zachery asks bug-eyed.
"Take a look yourself," the commander says handing over the telescope. Taking the telescope, Zachery peers though the lens and gasps at what he sees. Several columns of Forsaken march out of their encampment, moving away from the bridge with great purpose. The only thing he could think of drawing that much attention would be Rose and her nationals attacking Gilneas. However, he had not heard from her in weeks. How could this not be just a move from the Forsaken to lull the Alliance into a false sense of security and strike when they are unprepared?
These dark thoughts have no place in his mind, for behind him he hears movement and shouting. Turning away from the scene to fleeing Forsaken, Zachery looks towards the sound. "Out of me way!" a loud, voice rings out, following by grunting and shoving. The seas of people part and out steps a short and stocky dwarf. Looking up, he scowls and marches towards Zachery, a scoped hunting rifle between his hands.
Pulling a hand up, Zachery rests it on the pommel of his blade. "Who are you, dwarf? And why do you approach me with a gun drawn?"
Looking down at his gun, the dwarf grunts and shrugs his shoulders. "Don't worry about Betty here, lad. She wouldn't be going an' hurtin' a commander. And as for me, I am Girnom Coldbeard and I have a report for you."
"Oh?" Zachery asks, dropping his hand from his blade. "What sort of report?"
Girnom places his rifle back in the sling at his back and motions towards the Bridge. "I've been scoutin' Forsaken movements for weeks now. Your human scouts are good, but they don't know this land like a Dwarf does." He grins at Zachery. "Anyway, after your priest friend left, all remained the same until a few days ago. More messages began to pour into the Forsaken camp that was in their gutter-tongue or whatever the hell those zombies speak."
As the dwarf speaks, Zachery pulls on his bottom lip, deep in thought over Rose's actions. Did her plan in Gilneas succeed?
The dwarf's voice draws him out of his thoughts, "Oi, lad. Don't be daydreamin' on me. Ain't the time now, as I've got more reports fer ya." Nodding to the dwarf, Zachery motions for him to continue. "As I said, those zombies were all speakin' in that gutter language and I couldn't make heads or tails of what they were sayin'. But, whatever it was, the undertone was pretty clear: something had happened to cause this reaction.
"It all came together when I found a human dead near the shore just south of here. Seems that they were ambushed by some nasty little critters and couldn't defeat them; anyhoo, after searching the body, I found this letter," to which Girnom pulls out and hands it to Zachery, "addressed to you, Commander."
Taking the letter Zachery scans the page, as the crowd of Alliance soldiers wait in silence. As he reads, his face splits nearly in two. Laughing, he jumps up and shouts for joy. "That crazy woman did it!" With several looking strangely at him, Zachery tries to desperately to calm himself and fails at it. "Rose Oxworth, my priest friend who left several days ago, managed to get in contact with several Gilnean nationals hiding in Stormwind. They pooled their money and staged an invasion of Gilneas. They've pushed the Forsaken out and are marching on Trisfal Glades!"
The surrounding Alliance soldiers cheer at the news. Whooping and hollering, they clang their swords against shields in celebration. From there, they gather their things and push at the bridge. They push back the retreating Forsaken and occupy the Bridge completely. Alliance forces try to pierce beyond the bridge, but the Forsaken encampment at Stromgarde refuses to bow before the Alliance.
After that initial contact, Rose sends updates to Zachery via several missives. She tells of how they push up towards Forsaken High Command in Northern Silverpine and how they launch volleys of missiles at the outer walls of the Undercity. As time goes on, the Forsaken troops push back Rose and her Gilnean Motherland League—as it would come to be known as—and at the Sardo Bridge. Now the G.M.L has been pushed out of Gilneas city again and is hold up in Stormglen Village. As for Zachery and the Alliance, they have been pushed back slightly and control of the bridge has been split in twain between the Forsaken in the North and the Alliance in the South.
