No. 8 – Amamiya Hibiya
"I woke up upon my bed to the sound of a ticking clock. What time is it now?"
(Note: This is route that I made up by myself. and Hiyori are still 12 here, but Hiyori is nice~)
I had another dream again. It was the same girl that appeared in all my dreams. She had dark black hair that she always wore in twin tails. She wore the same pink dress as always. However, I couldn't remember her face. It was distorted. We were playing in the forest. It was a large forest that was behind my house, with very tall trees. It was summer, and we were catching cicadas. "I'm sure I can catch more cicadas than you, Hibiya!" She shouted. We were sitting on a large branch on the tallest tree. It was our hideout. No adults could climb up here, and the branch was hidden behind the tree's leaves. In other words, it was our private space. We even stored our nets and containers that we used for bug catching here. I sighed. "There's no way you can beat me, stupid." I said. Upon hearing this, the girl became angry. "That's not true!" She said. She picked up her net from where she hung it on the branch, and slowly inched her way to the tree's bark. There was a cicada on the tree, more than an arm's distance away. "If I can catch this, I'm better than you, alright?" She said. "Kay~" I muttered. The girl then tried to reach out for the cicada with her net. However, it was too far away for her to reach it. She stretched, but it was still too far away. Her foot began to slip. "Watch out!" I screamed as I reached out for her. "Hibiya!" She screamed as slipped off. She fell off the branch, and I fell too.
There was a loud banging sound, and I woke up in a start. I had fallen asleep in class again. The teacher was angry, and told me to stand in the hallway. My classmates laughed. On the way out of the classroom, I caught sight of the school's beauty, Asahina Hiyori. She was as pretty as usual. She belonged to one of the three richest families in the village. Many of the guys in my class liked her, but I didn't. She was laughing too. I sighed as I walked out of the classroom. I could sleep while standing outside.
Soon that class ended and the next class had started. I went back into the classroom and took my seat. The teacher of this class was an elderly old man who was my neighbor. We had good relations and he had known me since I was a child. He walked to the podium and said, "Today we will be announcing the name of two students who will go to the city to represent our school in an exchange programme with a school." He called out Asahina-san (Hiyori) and I and said we were chosen. The programme would take place during the summer. I nodded. On the way back to my seat, I could feel the death glares that the boys in the class were giving me.
Soon, Summer came. I travelled to the city for the first time in my life. On the train there, Hiyori (she told me to call her by her first name) attempted to make conversation with me. She was very familiar with the city. Every few minutes, she would say something like, "Amamiya-kun! Did you know that the city sells a lot of books! Let's go look at some on our free day." Or something like, " Amamiya-kun! What should we eat when we get there?" However, as Iwas very tired as I had stayed up late to pack the previous night, so I would just mutter a one word answer and avoid conversation.
When we got there, I was surprised at how crowded it was. However, Hiyori, who was familiar with this place, acted like everything was normal. Thanks to her, we managed to find the school and the place we were to stay at. It was still afternoon and we didn't have any activities to do that day. I wanted to stay in my room and rest, but the teacher told us to move together, and Hiyori wanted to look around the city, so I had to follow her. We bought food for later, and walked around. Eventually, Hiyori brought me to a park. The park was by a road. We sat down on one of the benches to rest. There was an awkward silence.
"Amamiya-kun, there was something I always wanted to tell you…" Hiyori said after a long silence. "Okay, what is it?" I replied. "You may have forgotten…But when we were younger, you saved me once." "Huh?" I gave her a look of pure confusion. "Amamiya-kun..you see, when we were young…we were childhood friends. We were close. We used to play in the forest behind your house. One day, we were catching cicadas, and because of me, we fell off a branch of a tree." Hiyori blushed. "Then I,erh, fell on you. You cushioned my fall, and I wasn't hurt badly. However, you got amnesia. You forgot everything. It's all my fault. I'm sorry." She look at me with a sad look on her face. I looked at her in disbelief. She pointed to my forehead. "See that scar there? Do you remember how you got it? You hit your head when you fell, and hurt your head. It was very serious, and your parents were panicking as they rushed you to the nearest hospital. I remember all of it." She said. Well, I guess her story is believable then. I truly don't remember where the scar came from, and I do have those dreams…
I was deep in thought, but Hiyori continued. "So today I would like to tell you something else, too… This may be abit sudden, but for a very long time now… I have always liked you, Hibiya." She said.
Hearing those words, I felt embarrassed. Why is she confessing to me? This is a dream, right? She's so popular, it's impossible. "Um…Are you sure? You're so popular and all, you know…It's impossible for someone like me…" I said. Hiyori looked at me. She was blushing. "I'm sure." She said. "Well I'm sorry, but I don't like anyone as of now. And we're too young. I appreciate your feelings though…" I told her. Tears started to fall from her eyes. She stood up. "Thank you. Please let me have some time alone…" She said as she ran away. I stood up in a hurry and ran after her. Hiyori was running across the road. From the corner of my eye, I noticed a truck coming at her at full speed. It would hit her if I didn't do something…! Without thinking, I ran faster and pushed her as hard as I could. The truck! For a brief moment, I felt pain. Then, it was all gone and I felt no more.
I had a dream. I saw various images. A redlight, and a truck? And a girl in a pink dress with black hair…? I woke up to a loud sound. It was my teacher. She sent me out of the classroom for sleeping. On my way out, everyone was laughing, except a girl with dark hair. What was her name again? She looked at me with her dark eyes, and I felt a sense of déjà vu. The girl looked down, and muttered something I could just hear.
"You saved me again, Hibiya."
Note: Idek what I'm writing wow its doesn't make sense theres a lot of plotholes. Im sorry for not updating I was ignoring stuff I had to do. This is a route I made up. I always thought that a Hiyori's personality could change depending on the route so tada. And because Hiyori's personality changed, Hibiya's changed too. Its because they were childhood friends.
Thanks for reading~
