Chapter 17: Road to Recovery

Chase's P.O.V.

After we dug Sabrina out, everything went by in a flash. Adam pulled Sab out, then we took the turbo-speedster back home. The second Mr. Davenport saw us, he told Adam to bring Sab to her bedroom. I tried to follow them, but Mr. Davenport wouldn't let me in, so now I'm sitting against the wall in the hall sulking. Yes, the Great Chase Davenport is sulking. Suddenly, I hear someone slide down the wall next to me and look up. Future Sabrina looks at me with sadness and confusion.

''What's wrong?'' She asks, flicking her hair out of her face.

"I'm scared. I need proof that she is going to stay alive." I answer, admitting my fear to her.

"Aren't I enough proof?" She questions, hurt showing on her face.

"No. You may vanish when returning to your own time." I blab scientifically.

"Fine." She says, then silence absorbs us. It lasts for about two minutes until she breaks it.

"Look." She shoves the holophone in my face. On it is a picture of her and Future Me. I look carefree, but worn, as if I had been working for a long period of time before the picture was taken. I'm looking straight at the camera, while she is in mid-laughter.

"That was taken a week before I left. She- I- We survive." She stutters.

"Good." I state. Then Future Leo yells to her.

"Gotta go. Take care of me and yourself. See you in seven years." She grins, then runs down the stairs. Just then, Mr. Davenport comes out. I jolt upward.

"Well?" I ask with anticipation.

"You can go see her." He says, "though she inhaled a lot of dust, so she is on oxygen for the night and she won't be able to walk for about two weeks. There was damage to the nerves in her legs." Mr. Davenport keeps talking, but I enter Sab's room and close the door.

She lies there, watching me. An oxygen tube runs into her nose. Her silky hair is still matted and dusty, but she is not as pale. "Hey." She says, and I practically tumble across the floor and crash into the bed.

"Hi." I say once I've gathered my composure, trying to look cool.

"I'm mad at you." She states, simply turning her back to me.

"What? Why?" I ask a little too quickly, sitting down on the edge of the bed.

"You. Went. On. The. Mission! Are you crazy?" She replies, punctuating each word by punching me in the chest.

"I'm sorry. If I didn't go, then the whole world would have died." I argue.

"Fine. I forgive you." She says and I lean down and capture her lips.

She smiles into the kiss, and begins roughly pushing against me. Her regular vanilla-brown sugar smell is mixed with the smell of concrete dust, but it is still the best smell in the world. We kiss until I need air. I snuggle in next to her.

"Promise me that you will never leave me without warning." She whispers.

"I swear." I whisper. She soon falls fast asleep and I slip out to go down to my capsule.

But he will soon forget that promise. Should I continue? I guess.

The Next Day...

Sabrina's P.O.V.

I wake up alone. Dad must have sent Chase to his capsule. I don't blame him. Chase can be overprotective. Of course, so can Dad. My alarm clock say that it's 6:14. No one's going to be up yet, but I'll get up anyway.

I push myself up with my hands and grab on to my custom made wheelchair. I pull it towards the bed and put on the brakes locks on. Turning away from it, I then pull myself into the seat and adjust my legs. Unlocking the brakes, I roll out of my room and take my eight and a half minute detour to the only ramp in the house to get off the second floor.

I go over to get cereal, then realize that I can't reach the box of frosted flake or a bowl. 'Hmmm' I think. Then, using the broom, I knock the cereal and it falls into my lap. Then I hit a plastic bowl, and a ceramic bowl comes down with it. I manage to grab the plastic one, but the other slams into the ground, shattering into five pieces

"What is going on?" Tasha says, storming down the stairs.

"Sorry Tasha. I was hungry and didn't want to wake anyone." I say. She sighs and gives me a smile.

"It's alright. Just don't tell your father-" Tasha starts.

"I won't." I reply. She then begins cleaning up.

"I would offer to help, but... You know." I say, putting my full bowl of cereal on the counter.

"It's fine." She answers, putting the broken bowl in a plastic bag, "So, are you going back today?" She is obviously talking about school.

"Yeah." I reply, then the others come back up from the lab. I want life to go back to normal as fast as possible.

Okay, so the next chapter is going to be a two week time jump, except it is going to be 'No Going Back' because I am dying to write Season Three. I will upload the next chapter when I get 45 reviews. Only 12 away. So, please review and tell me what you think.

Also, Vote on my poll. Please?

Ciao.
