Eiji backed up against a tree, shaking. What am I going to do, what am I going to do, what am I going to do?! He thought, panicked. Am I going to die here? Is this

the end?! Eevee, shaking with fright, drew closer to Eiji, her soft golden fur brushing against his leg. He realized that if he died, Eevee would die, too. Even if she

survived, she would be all alone, with no one to protect her, leaving her weak and vulnerable in the wild. "Eevee…" he whispered softly. I don't want to die! I have

things I want to protect! Suddenly, the eye on the pendant he found flashed with a brilliant light. Startled, the Ariados tensed, wary of the pendant that was

glowing so brightly, and of the one that possessed the pendant. Out of nowhere, Eiji felt new strength welling up inside himself. Okay. I can do this! "Now, Eevee!

Use Bite!" Eevee, who had stopped shaking when it saw the light, snapped out of its stupor and executed the move, taking the distracted Ariados by surprise. The

Ariados hissed with shock, pain, and most of all, anger. Shaking Eevee off, the Ariados swiftly retaliated with Poison Fang. Eevee winced, but endured the move.

Ariados, swinging its head, flung Eevee. Eevee flew through the air, hitting a nearby tree. Eevee sagged to the ground as Eiji rushed to her side. "Eevee! Please,

hang in there!" As Eiji hovered next to her limp form, he felt the Ariados draw near. Eiji stood, flinging his arms out to his sides in an attempt to shield Eevee.

"Don't worry, Eevee." He told her, facing the Ariados. "No matter what happens to me, I'll protect you." Eevee whimpered, trying in vain to get up, concern

clouding her eyes. Eiji smiled sadly. "Don't push yourself for a nobody like me." Eiji turned again to face the Ariados, which was now so close he could have reached

out and touched it. "…If we manage to get through this… I'll try to become a better trainer. I swear it." As the Ariados swung one of its lethal, poison-tipped claws

down at his head, Eiji shut his eyes, waiting for the end to come. He waited. Nothing happened. Curious, Eiji opened his eyes. The scene he saw before him

shocked him, leaving him paralyzed with wonder. The Ariados was glowing, its claw suspended in motion, unable to move. Standing next to him, was an Espeon, its

eyes glowing with the same light. Wheeling around, he saw that Eevee was gone. Which meant… "…Eevee?" He whispered tentatively. The Espeon- his Espeon

grinned. As the Ariados slumped to the ground, he grinned back.

Yeah, sorry for keeping anyone who bothered to wait around for this chapter to come out. All I can say is that I'm sorry, and that in the future, I'll try not to be as lazy. Anyways, see you next chapter!
