AN: I updated this story to fix an error. Thanks Ionaadsila for pointing it out to me.

Friday came pretty quickly. Kurt was so excited that it was the end of the week. His classes had been okay, but nothing too interesting or challenging ever happened while in class. The classes he had with Blaine were of course his favorite, but there was only so much writing they could do while also trying to learn the material that the teacher was teaching. Not to mention they didn't want to get caught. Their biology teacher did give them a few curious glances, but thankfully never made an effort to stop their note passing.

The bullying also died down a little bit. Karofsky hadn't bullied Kurt in the way he had earlier in the week. He just received a locker shove here and there by either Karofsky or the other bully Azimio Adams, but he could deal with it, like he always does.

Kurt has a routine now. Go to school, practice piano for two hours, have a piano lesson on Tuesday and Thursday, eat dinner, homework, text Blaine until it was time for bed, do his nightly routine, sleep, and repeat. He was comfortable with routines and it calmed him. Kurt wasn't a spontaneous person, and didn't like surprises. Of course the down side to a routine is that there wasn't time for after-school activities. He didn't mind though. It's not like there were many people at the school that would allow him to join a club. He was always seen for his "disability," but Kurt stopped seeing being deaf as a disability a while ago. He would just have to live vicariously through Blaine.

Blaine auditioned for the school's Glee Club and was accepted into the group without hesitation. Kurt thought Blaine must have had an amazing voice if he was told right away. Blaine even told him that Rachel Berry wanted to be his permanent duet partner as she believed their voices were superior to those in the group. The rest of the group didn't take kindly to Rachel's blatant disregard of the group's talent as a whole. Blaine just wanted to stay out of any type of confrontation so he remained quiet while Rachel argued back with the group. After Blaine told Kurt of Rachel's antics he was very certain that being her friend probably would not be the best for him even though he was interested in the fact she had two dads. He didn't like being overpowered by people. By nature, Kurt is a shy and quiet individual. He knew if they were friends he would just become her little deaf sidekick. He preferred to be alone than to lower himself to that level.

School was officially over now, and since it's Friday Kurt expected Blaine to join him on Kurt's bus so they could go to Kurt's house together. Kurt sat on the bus waiting for Blaine to join him, but he didn't come. The buses at the school had waited the required time and shut the doors before driving off with the students. Kurt didn't get a text from Blaine. He thought he was being stood up. Why would Blaine not tell him that he wasn't going to make the bus? Blaine didn't seem like that type of person, but anything could happen. He still hadn't completely figured Blaine out yet. He was waiting for Blaine to disappoint him already in the short time they've known each other. But who can blame Kurt when all he's known in life is disappointment?

Kurt then felt his pocket vibrate. He took it out and there was a text from Blaine on his phone. Part of Kurt felt relieved because he had the decency to text him, but another part was still worried he was still going to be stood up, but in a more civil way. Kurt pressed on the text notification on his phone to bring up the message.

"Sorry Kurt. I'm going to have to meet later. Rachel decided to have an emergency Glee meeting. I don't know what could be an emergency since we just started meeting this week, but I don't want to mess with her. She's scary when she's determined. Text me your address and I'll come over after the meeting."

Kurt was a little annoyed at Rachel for taking time away from Blaine, but then he thought he now would have time to change his clothes before Blaine came over. He always tried to look good and fashionable for school, but he never tried to push too far with his outfits. At home he could wear whatever he wants and be safe from the torment of bullies. Also, with the right outfit, maybe Blaine will appreciate more than his clothes if he wore the right outfit, Kurt thought.

Kurt sent Blaine his address as the bus stopped at his street. He ran into the house and up to his room as soon as he put his car in park. Raiding through his closet was always a tedious task due to the amount of clothes and scarves he had acquired over the years.

The clothing search didn't take too long though as Kurt knew already which pair of jeans would accentuate his figure well. They were a dark grey color that hugged his butt and hips perfectly, and were a slim fit down his legs showing off his taut thigh muscles. Next would be to find a shirt that showed his body off even more. Kurt loved his layers so there really weren't too many options for what he was going for. He pulled out a red form fitting V-neck T-shirt and a black vest. Yes, this outfit would be absolutely amazing. If Blaine didn't drink in the sight of him then he knew that there would be no hope to ever leave the friend zone. To complete the look he pulled out a treble cleft pin to place on the upper left of his vest.

He looked at the clock and realized only 10 minutes had passed, but he checked his phone anyways to see if there was a text from Blaine. Nothing appeared on his screen so Kurt just assumed that Rachel was still jabbering. Poor Blaine. But since he had some time, Kurt decided to play the piano since that was his normal routine. He had trouble sitting still without doing something with his hands.

There was a piano piece that Kurt was having so much difficulty with. He never really struggled too much with the music his teacher gave him. He knew it had been a mistake to mention that to her during his Tuesday lesson. She had raised an eyebrow at him and rummaged through her bag until she found the music she was looking for and placed it in front of him. Kurt's eyes went a little when he saw that she had given him Gaspard de la nuit by Maurice Ravel. This piece was known to be one of the hardest piano pieces. It was broken up into three parts. Kurt had been working on the first part non-stop and still was having some difficulty with it. Yesterday, when he fumbled through the first few pages in front of his piano teacher she wrote too him, "Hard enough for you now?" All Kurt did was nod a little and try again and again. He was going to perfect this piece and prove to his teacher that he could do it if it was the last thing he did.

Kurt began again from the beginning of the first part, trying to go as far as he could through the piece before he stumbled. Then he would stop and practice the part that gave him trouble over and over and over until it became easier, then he would move on until he needed to stop again to work on another section. This was a tedious process, but he always saw results. By nature Kurt was a perfectionist. Struggling with a piano piece always amplified his perfectionist tendencies.

Kurt had been playing the piece for an hour and a half. He had progressed further than yesterday, which made him happy but it still wasn't good enough. He was so focused on the piano that he didn't notice the lights flashing in the corner of the room, signaling that the doorbell was ringing.

Burt heard the doorbell ring twice. He had only entered the house 20 minutes ago, and saw Kurt practicing. He knew better than interrupt his son while he was playing. He was curious as to why Blaine wasn't in his house since the plan was for his son's friend to come back right after school.

Burt walked to the door and opened it. On the other side was a boy shorter than his son with a green polo and black skinny jeans that exposed his ankles. The boy's hair was flattened on his head by hair gel, and a polite smile occupied his face. Burt couldn't help but give a slight smile back at the boy before speaking.

"Hi, you must be Blaine. Kurt said you would be coming over. Come on in." Burt stated.

"Thank you, sir." Blaine said before entering the house.

"Call me Burt, kid. I hate sounding old."

Blaine's head cocked to the side a little as he heard music coming from the other room. It was one of the most beautiful things he had heard. It sounded like the musician had a perfect touch and amazing musicality. It was quite loud, but Blaine assumed that the music he heard was a recording.

"Who is the pianist that you're listening to? It sounds amazing!" Blaine asked

"That's Kurt practicing the piano. He's been playing since I walked in the door, but I assume he's been there for quite a while since he didn't notice the lights flashing in the room." Stated Burt.

"Why would the lights be flashing?"

"That's how Kurt knows when the doorbell is ringing. The lights in the rooms that he uses frequently flash."

"Oh I didn't know that's how it worked. I never really thought about that." Blaine then became a little confused and asked, "Wait, this is Kurt playing? It sounds like a professional. I thought you were just playing the music loudly. Kurt didn't tell me he could play THAT well."

"Yep, he's a natural at the piano. Although, this piece is giving him a run for his money. He hasn't stopped playing it since his teacher challenged him with it. Kurt will never tell you how good he is though. He's very humble, and I'm also not sure if he even realizes his true talent. Here, I'll let you get to Kurt so you can chat with him. Just go down the hall and through the double doors. Dinner will be ready in 10 minutes."

"Thank you, sir… I mean Burt. Thank you, Burt." Blaine quickly corrected himself after Burt gave him a look that was quite intimidating. He didn't want to be on the bad side of Kurt's dad, especially if he wanted to get closer to Kurt.

Blaine quickly walked down the hall and opened the doors as instructed by Burt. When he looked into the room he saw a grand piano and the top of Kurt's head peaking up. He looked like he was concentrating very hard on the music and didn't even register that Blaine was in the room. Blaine stood there a few minutes just listening to Kurt until he heard a few wrong notes and a huff noise from Kurt. Blaine had never heard Kurt make a noise before. He wondered what his voice sounded like. But that would not be a topic today. He didn't need Kurt getting upset at him twice in one week. One time was actually enough for a lifetime.

While Blaine had his chance he walked closer to Kurt to grab his attention. Kurt looked startled at first, but then signaled Blaine to sit next to him on the piano bench. When Blaine joined Kurt, he pulled out his notebook and a pen from his backpack and wrote to Kurt.

"You sound amazing! You never told me you were this good." Kurt took the notebook from Blaine's hands as he read over Blaine's shoulder.

"I'm really not that good. If I was amazing, I would have this piece perfected by now. I just got though the entire first part of the piece today and it's far from perfect. I'm going to get it though. I have to prove to my teacher I can do it." Kurt had a look of determination as he handed the notebook back to Blaine.

"Well, I'm sure you'll have it down in no time. Not many kids your age could probably have done as much as you have already done."

Kurt took back the notebook and wrote, "I'm not like all the other kids though, but thanks for trying to make me feel better."

Right after Blaine read Kurt's note the lights in the room started flashing. Burt was standing by the light switch flicking it on and off. Kurt lifted his head and smiled at his father before signing, "Dinner ready?"

"Yes, Hurry before it gets cold." Burt signed and spoke so Blaine could understand as well. Dinner was going to be very interesting. They couldn't write and eat or dinner would take forever. Burt knew he would probably be stuck translating for Kurt and Blaine. He just hoped that he would be able to eat.

Burt turned to walk back into the kitchen. Kurt then stood up from the piano bench and straightened up his clothes. Blaine's eyes followed Kurt's movement. He looked down Kurt's body and felt a strong desire flood through him. Kurt had toned muscles and a figure that made Blaine lick his lips unconsciously. He was beautiful.

Kurt moved again after straightening up his clothes to his satisfaction. Blaine quickly turned his eyes away from Kurt as if he hadn't blatantly been staring at him. He didn't want Kurt to notice and become uncomfortable. They didn't know each other that well. He then followed Kurt's lead and stood up from the bench to go to the kitchen.

They entered the kitchen, Kurt and Burt took their normal seats and Blaine sat in the remaining seat. Both boys smiled each other when they made eye contact. Burt couldn't help but be happy for his son for making a new friend, or maybe something more than a friend…

After they put food on their plates Kurt motioned with his hand to get his dad's attention.

"Do you mind translating for me, Dad? Eating and writing would take a while I didn't really think about that before asking him over. I don't want him to sit in silence."

"Yes, Kurt. I already figured I would play as translator. I don't mind." Burt signed back

Kurt smiled and signed "Thanks" to his dad before turning to Blaine and signing.

"How was your day at school today?"

Burt translated for Kurt. Then for Blaine when he answered, "It was okay. Glad to be out of there though Rachel is out of control."

Kurt laughed at Blaine's response and signed back. This continued throughout dinner. Kurt signed to Blaine, Burt translated, Blaine spoke, and then Burt signed. Burt noticed conversation flowed smoothly between them and he was still able to eat his food in the process. He could see the way Blaine was looking at Kurt. Blaine looked like he had feelings for Kurt by the look in his eyes. So of course being the loving and blunt dad that he is, he interjected his opinions.

"So Blaine, what are your intentions with Kurt?" Burt asked

Kurt's eyes widened comically when he read his father's lips. He slammed his hand against the table to bring his dad's attention back to him.

"Dad, don't! You'll embarrass me. We're just friends! Don't think just because you don't sign that I won't catch on. You know I read lips." Kurt signed passionately trying to get his point across for his father to butt out.

Blaine looked quite confused and wondered what Kurt had just told his dad. However, Blaine decided to just answer Burt's question.

"I like Kurt. I would love to get to know him better and be his friend."

Kurt read Blaine's lips and just thought, "Yeah, of course he just wants to be friends. He's gorgeous! I'll never leave the friend zone."

Burt responded to Blaine, "Good, he needs a friend. Be good to him."

Kurt felt blood rush to his face as his embarrassment grew. He just hoped Blaine wouldn't leave after his father's assumptions.

Thankfully, the embarrassing moment passed and Burt returned to being the translator between Kurt and Blaine. He wanted to get to know Blaine better, but he'll wait until later. Kurt needed his time." But from what he could tell, they had chemistry. They may not notice it, but it was there.

After dinner was finished Burt brushed off Kurt and Blaine's attempts at helping clean up. He spoke and signed, "No, you boys go ahead and have fun."

Kurt signed back, "Thanks, we'll be in my room if you need me."

Before Kurt turned around Burt signed back, "Door open."

Kurt flushed in embarrassment again and was so thankful Blaine didn't know sign language. He motioned for Blaine to follow him as they walked to his room. Kurt wasn't sure what they were going to do, but was excited to spend the evening alone with Blaine.
