19. Leave

"I'm not going to leave you again, Lisbon!" Jane said angrily.

"Ever occurred to you that I might walk out on you?" Lisbon retorted sharply.

Jane was taken aback. Lisbon took his silence as a cue to continue. "I'm tired of all this, Jane. I can't do this anymore," she whispered, looking away.

"Teresa, please, stay. Don't go," Jane pleaded. He cupped her chin and gently pulled her back to him. He could see the anger and sadness flashing in her eyes. Slowly, he leaned in. "Please don't leave me," he breathed as he captured her soft lips.
