23. Bouquet

The first thing Lisbon saw when she got home was a bouquet of a dozen red roses. Right in her face. "Whoah," she exclaimed. "That's one way to come home."
Jane lowered his arms, revealing his grin. "For you."
Lisbon smiled and took the bouquet off him. "They're beautiful, thank you," she beamed. "But why the sudden roses?"
"They're... ah... an apology," Jane answered sheepishly.
"For...?"
"For missing Valentine's."
"Couldn't be helped. Duty called. And you know I don't mind, right?"
"Yeah, I know," Jane smiled. "Happy belated Valentine's."
Lisbon smiled and pulled him into a kiss.
