Chapter 30
"Tony!" Rhodey yelled over the comms, snapping his friend's eyes away from the black hole in the sky.
Tony turned just soon enough to take out the oncoming Purple-eyed snake.
"Thanks." Tony replied, whipping out a new machine gun strapped to his suit's shoulder. He took out three aliens with it before it's ammo ran out.
Rhodey used his the same way, taking out two aliens, but saving the last few bullets unlike Tony.
"Thor!" Natasha yelled at the demigod as he crashed onto the building's roof with his hammer swinging. "Where the hell did these come from!? Asgard?!"
"Not of my knowledge. They're a species unknown to many systems, I wasn't aware they were following the bifrost's projection until they were on Earth." Thor answered, explaining as much as he could before taking off to fight more aliens.
"Will another nuke work?!" Barton yelled, earning angry looks from Natasha, who shot three aliens with two bullets.
"Your nuclear weapons will not take out the enemy, if anything, the bomb would reach Asgard." Thor said.
"So that'd be a no." Natasha cleared up for Clint, who looked disappointed.
"They're still coming!" Steve shouted, dodging purple lasers on the street, watching the grey worms fly through the opened hole.
Civilians were driving across the city's bridges, having learnt from last time to just drop everything and ditch.
"Can we close the portal?" Rhodey asked, throwing a grey snake's body into two more to knock them to the ground.
"Not until Heimdall can close it manually. He's probably attempting to, but the snakes won't make it easy." Thor said, using his lightning to fry multiple aliens at once.
"Thor, go close the portal. We'll hold them off until you do." Steve instructed, whacking his shield off of snake's lasers in order to destroy their weapons.
Thor nodded to Steve, then flew through the oncoming aliens head-on, entering the portal and disappearing from the other's lines of view.
"Hey Tasha', just like Buda-" Clint began, but she yelled over him.
"Don't say it!" Natasha hollered, shoving an alien off of the building they were occupying. "Stark, call Fury. Tell him to bring in the helicarrier."
"Natasha, that'll put every SHIELD agent on the helicarrier in danger." Tony yelled back.
"Would you rather that the world is taken over by grey snakes!" Natasha replied roughly, shooting the lasers off of the aliens.
"Good point." Tony said, "Jarvis, call Fury."
"Certainly, sir." Jarvis replied, and Fury's loading call showed up on Tony's face-plate.
"Stark! What's going on!" Nick asked angrily as he picked up the phone.
"Bring the helicarrier, last ditch effort." Tony explained, failing to dodge a laser, which did less damage than he'd have expected, but still left a nasty black mark on his suit.
"On our way." Fury then hung up.
"They'll be here as soon as they can be." Tony told Natasha, a huge group of aliens now surrounding him as he used his repulsers to take out as many as possible.
Flying upwards, the aliens followed him and he shot them off him to buy time for the helicarrier.
He could see that Clint and Natasha were being overpowered on their roof. Clint notched a cable-arrow and Natasha wrapped her arms around his neck as they dropped from the roof and the arrow was stuck into the roof's edge.
They landed in a heap on the ground, near Steve who was evading the purple lasers as best he could without any backup.
Tony landed beside him and destroyed the surrounding aliens with his wrist-lasers.
Rhodey flew up above Natasha and Clint, covering them from fire while Natasha reloaded and Clint readjusted his bent quiver.
"SMASH!" Hulk's voice bellowed from the skyscraper where he was tossing aliens from the top to land with a *plop* on the ground, and forcefully smashing them into the metal building when that failed.
"Where's Fury?!" Steve yelled from the street, aiming his question at Natasha as she began firing at the grey snakes once again.
"On his way!" Natasha replied, grabbing a new gun from her belt and tossing the empty one aside.
"How soon?!" Steve asked, knowing they couldn't last for more than another few minutes.
"Three minutes at most." Tony said, having designed the repulser engines on the helicarriers to travel 12x faster than his own suits.
At that, the portal closed and at the last moment before it disappeared, an armored demigod crashed through along with the last few aliens.
"We've just got a few hundred left. How hard could it be." Natasha muttered to herself, aiming her guns at the oncoming wave.
"Stark, we're here! Get everyone out of the city." Fury's voice came through the commlinks and the helicarrier became visible in the sky.
"What are you going to do?" Tony didn't like the sound of that.
"Civilians are all out." Steve informed him.
"We've got a bomb." Fury said, "And before you say anything, it doesn't destroy anything unless it's somehow living, like water, fire, humans, animals." Fury told them.
"So it's a living-thing-demolisher." Tony said sarcastically. "We can't do that to New York, no one could ever live here again. That's worse than nuking it!" Tony yelled angrily, clearing informing Nick that they weren't going with that option.
"Stark, these things are getting out of the city, you can't take them all out. Face it, it's this or world wide alien invasion." Fury said with certainty.
A silver bomb dropped from the bottom of the helicarrier. "Get out, it's only set for two minutes."
Tony watched it drop in shock. What'd you do last time? Took the bomb. How'd that work out? Pretty damn good.
That was all the convincing Tony needed. He swooped down, grabbed the bomb, and flew towards the ocean.
"Dammit." Rhodey muttered. "Tony! You can't get it away, just drop it. Fury's right."
"Screw Fury." Tony yelled back, kicking his repulsers into high-gear. "Take them to safety, I've got this."
Rhodey stopped following him and turned around. "You haven't tested your suit! You don't know for sure whether it can withstand Fury's death-bomb!" He yelled after the silver and red suit.
"I didn't know last time either." Tony shrugged inside his suit, and kept flying over the ocean.
1 minute and 28 seconds later...
Steve, Thor, Clint, and a green Bruce had made it across the bridge, Natasha was still at the other end.
Natasha felt Rhodey's metal covered hand grab her under the arm and lift her across the bridge connecting Manhattan to the main land, and just as her feet touched the dirt on the other side, the city jiggled ever so slightly, and then went still.
"SBD." Clint smirked.
"SBD?" Natasha asked him.
"Silent But Deadly." Clint said with a childish smile.
The ocean on the other side of the city was as good as gone, but was quickly filling back up thanks to the rest of the ocean, but it was noticeably lower when it settled back to it's original form.
"Dammit Tony." Rhodey cursed the billionaire as he flew along the water, searching for him.
"Admit it, my suits are indestructible." Tony's voice came over the comms as his red and silver became visible across the water.
"Okay, I admit it." Rhodey put his metal covered hands in the air.
"Schwarma?" Tony asked his team as casually as if it were another nothing to do, boring day in the tower.
Everyone groaned at the joke, but then laughed anyway.
Maybe Tony did need some new suits.

And with that, I bid you all farewell.
Although, I have an idea for a "end credits" scene if anyone is interested?
Just a Pepperony scene, but I think I'll be writing it later today anyway.
