Chapter 20
Photographs and Memories
The way your smile looks so real
Feel like I could start to understand your grace
But I I don't understand why you're not here with me
And I, I don't even want to know where else you'd be
I have photographs and memories of the times
You were on my mind and I was alone
I have poetry and drawings of my life
When you weren't on my side
and I didn't know just what is love
Haley puttered around in the kitchen until the guys got out of church. Jax and Opie were laughing about something together, so she figured that was a good sign. Jax joined her after a moment, wrapping an arm around her waist.
"They said it was cool. Juice is going to come up with us though, only way we can go," Jax explained.
"Well I'm sure it will be a very fun trip for him," Haley teased.
"Well, you'll just have to learn to be a little quieter next time," Jax said lowly. He kissed the back of her neck before looking down at the bowl she was furiously stirring. He stuck a finger into the mix, holding it up to her lips.
"Jax," she whispered as she tried to pull away from him.
"Fine, I'll eat it," he replied. He pulled her hair out of the way and smeared the brownie mix on her neck. He slowly licked the spot, sucking at it, loving it when her head dropped back on his shoulder. "Can I have some more?"
Haley nodded silently allowing Jax to repeat the process on the other side of her neck. She whimpered softly, pressing her hips back against his. She could feel him growing hard behind her. Jax gently bit at her neck, earning a low moan from her.
"Upstairs, now," she gasped out. Jax stepped back from her and grabbed her hand. They quickly ran up the stairs together. Haley groaned when Jax pushed her against the door, locking it before tugging her shirt off. He tossed it over his shoulder, admiring the way her chest was heaving.
Jax grinned at her as he pulled his shirt off and tossed it aside as well. He took both her wrists in one hand and held them up over her head. Haley wrapped a leg around him, pulling him close as she ground her hips against him. Jax unclasped her bra with one hand and tugged it down her arms.
A knock sounded at the door and Haley groaned in frustration. "Jax, what time are we leaving," Juice called through the door.
"Juice, go away," Jax shouted.
"Brother, I need to know how long we are going to be gone!"
"Juice, I swear if you don't go away right now," Haley shouted.
"Ok, ok, sorry, let me know when we are leaving!"
Haley groaned and let her head fall back against the door. "I think he just killed the mood."
"No, no, come on," Jax whined. He kissed her, pulling her as close as he could. Haley shook her head at him and pulled away. She leaned back against the door and met his gaze.
"I'm sorry, I'll make it up to you," she said with a grin. "When we're at the cabin, alone, no one else around, we can make Juice sleep outside. It'll be fun."
"You better," Jax warned as he stepped away from her. He took a deep breath and gave himself a shake. "I'll let you pack."
"I'll pack you some stuff too, ok?"
"Yeah, I'm going downstairs, we'll leave in about an hour."
"I'll be ready, I promise," Haley grinned at him before letting him leave the room.
...
Haley carried a backpack downstairs with some clothes for her and Jax. She grinned when she saw him at the counter with Juice. She bit her lip as she came over to them. "You guys ready to go?"
"Yeah, let's hit it," Jax said as he threw an arm around her shoulders. He led her outside to the bikes. Gemma came out to say goodbye. She pulled Haley to her and gave her a serious look.
"That boy is crazy about you, take care of him," Gemma said firmly.
"Yes ma'am."
Gemma hugged Jax and Juice before sending them all on their way. Haley got on behind Jax, wrapping her arms tightly around him. She rested her chin on his shoulder, grinning ear to ear. It wasn't a long drive, but it felt like they were thousands of miles away by the time they got to the cabin. They climbed off the bikes and looked around.
Haley noticed the dock and shot a grin at Jax. She backed toward it before turning and running to the end. She wriggled out of her jeans and tugged her shirt off. She glanced back over her shoulder and winked at Jax before jumping into the water.
"Go inside, stay away from the windows," Jax ordered Juice before starting toward the dock. Jax jerked off his shirt and dropped his jeans. He toed his sneakers and socks off before shooting her a huge grin. He wiggled his eyebrows at her as she smiled back at him.
"You coming in," Haley asked as she swam back a few strokes. She squealed as he jumped into the water. She paddled in a circle as she looked for him to come up. She let out a scream when he grabbed her ankle and tugged her under the water.
Jax wrapped an arm around her when she came back up. She giggled softly and kissed him gently. Their legs were tangling together as they treaded water. Haley slipped her arms around his neck and let him deepen the kiss.
They broke apart and Haley rested her forehead against Jax's. "Can I tell you something," Jax asked.
"Of course."
"Your recital, the one my mom showed you the program from, it wasn't the only time I came to see you dance."
"What?"
"I came to all of the recitals after that, I saw every single one of them. There was... I don't know, there was something about it, you were so beautiful. That probably ruins my rep doesn't it? Biker boy going to watch ballet?"
"Technically its lyrical and modern, with a little ballet, but no. I think its sweet. I wish you had let me know, I mean have you ever thought about what would have happened if...," Haley trailed off and looked down.
"Hey, we're here now, that's all that matters. I... I didn't want to freak you out, I was a mess angel. I didn't want to complicate your life, I just wanted to see you dance," Jax explained.
"That is possibly the nicest thing anyone has ever said about my dancing."
"Well you are pretty fuckin awesome babe."
Haley laughed loudly as she rolled her eyes at him. She trailed a hand down his chest, her fingers skimming through his fine chest hair. "I'm glad you were there, whether you told me or not. You've always been there, looking after me and I had no idea. You are like my... guardian angel or something," Haley said softly.
"Hey, you're the angel, I can't be one too," Jax teased as he tipped her chin up so she was looking into his bright blue eyes.
"You're my angel!"
"You have to find me something tougher to be."
"Whatever you say baby," Haley said before kissing him on the cheek. They stayed in the water for awhile longer, swimming and playing together. When Haley began to shiver Jax led her out of the water and helped her get dressed. They ran up to the house and stumbled inside.
Juice was sitting on the sofa with his back to the door. He glanced over his shoulder and smiled at them. "I made some dinner! Its on the stove."
"Oh, Juice, I would have done that. Thank you," Haley said quickly.
"Let's go change," Jax said as he took her hand. They went back to the bedroom they were going to share and grabbed some clean clothes. They climbed into the shower together, washing the pond water out of their hair. Haley giggled as Jax got shampoo in his eyes.
She reached out and carefully wiped the shampoo off his face. She kissed both of his cheeks before rising her hair. It didn't take long for them to finish their shower. They quickly got dressed and headed out into the living room.
Haley went into the kitchen and fixed them both a plate. Jax came in and grabbed them both a beer before carrying his plate and beer back into the living room. Haley joined him at the table a moment later.
"So Juice, how long have you been a prospect," Haley asked. She took a bite of her pasta and gasped. "Wow, this is really good! You did an awesome job!"
"Thanks, it was a piece of cake," Juice said brightly. "I've been a prospect for 7 months, only 5 more months to go!"
"You think he'll make it," Haley asked Jax.
"He's come in pretty handy so far, I think we'll keep him around for awhile," Jax said with a wink.
"So, how'd you learn all the computer stuff," Haley asked.
"I grew up with it, I've always been good at it," Juice explained. "I took a couple of classes, learned some stuff on my own, most of it is pretty easy once you've learned it."
"Where are you from," Haley asked.
"Queens, in New York."
"Oh, cool, did you like growing up there?"
"Yeah, it was pretty cool, I like being out here better. Way more space, and I've got a family now."
"Yeah you do brother," Jax said with a smile.
"You guys want to watch a movie or something," Haley asked as she began to clear her plate. Jax waved a hand at her and took the plates. He carried them into the kitchen, and quickly washed them. When he came back out, Haley was sitting on the sofa and Juice was on one of the chairs.
Jax joined Haley on the sofa as they started the movie. Haley settled against Jax's side, she rested her head on his shoulder. Jax wrapped his arm around her shoulders as she shifted closer to him. She tangled a hand with his, letting them rest on his lap.
As the movie went on, Haley began to fall asleep. Jax stretched out on the sofa and pulled her down on top of him. She settled against his chest, her fingers tangling in his t-shirt. She shifted against him, letting out a soft sigh as she got comfortable. Jax wrapped an arm around her, his other hand brushing through her hair.
Jax noticed that Juice's attention kept drifting from the movie to them. His eyes would linger for a few moments, before going back to the tv.
"You ok brother," Jax asked softly.
"Yeah, fine, I just... sorry I didn't mean to stare. You guys are really good together."
"Thanks brother."
"You're lucky, to find someone like her, she's great. She's done so well with all of this. I can't imagine going through what she's been through. She is just really awesome," Juice replied.
"Yeah, she is," Jax said as he looked down at her. She had fallen asleep, her chest rising slowly. "I'm going to take her to bed. There's another room down the hall, you can stay in there if you want."
Jax carefully shifted out from under Haley and stood up. She curled into a ball, letting out a soft sigh. Jax stretched for a moment before turning back to her. He carefully lifted her up, she burrowed her face into his chest. Jax smiled down at her as he carried her down the hallway to their room.
Jax pushed the door open and carried her to the bed. He tugged the sheets down and laid her on the bed. He unbuttoned her jeans and carefully worked her jeans off. He dropped them on the floor and tucked the sheets around her. Jax took his jeans off and tugged his shirt over his head. He tossed them on the floor before joining Haley in the bed.
Haley immediately rolled toward him, settling against his side. Jax slid his arm around her as he tucked his other arm behind his head. It wasn't the sex she'd promised him, but getting to be with her like this, knowing that she trusted him in this way, it was just as good, if not better.
