Brittany waited in the taxi line at The Dalton ready to pick up her first fare of the day. She didn't love her job, but she didn't hate it either. It was something she had to do and she never complained much. Until today.
Her mini-vacation with Santana had come to an end and it was time to go back to reality. After dinner with Mike, Quinn and Kurt they had all gone dancing and ended up staying out to almost 4 in the morning. When Santana and Brittany had gone back to her place, they were so exhausted that they barely managed to clean up before completely knocking out.
They had slept until almost noon and just stayed in the apartment all day. Santana ordered a pizza and they were set the rest of the day.
Brittany smiled at the memory. All they had done was eat pizza, watch movies and talk. It was perfect. They didn't get a chance to use any of their toys but that was OK. "We don't want to finish the list too soon," Santana had said.
They did make love on their last night but there wasn't any dirty talk or thrashing around on the bed. It was slow and sweet and they cuddled for a long time before falling asleep.
It had only been six hours since Brittany had last seen Santana and she missed her terribly. She let go of the break and advanced a few inches. She tapped her fingers on the wheel, itching to reach for her phone and call Santana.
"Concentrate!" she told herself. She moved her taxi forward a bit more. Jenny would be home this afternoon from her trip and they had so much to catch up on. "Shit!" Brittany's eyes went wide as she tried to remember if she had taken out the purchases she and Santana had made out of the dishwasher. She did. She was sure of it. Maybe.
Brittany was next in line. She really did not want to work today. She wanted to run up to Santana's suite and be with her.
The taxi door opened and a family of three got in. "The airport."
Brittany cleared her thoughts and concentrated on her passengers. "No problem."
###
Santana was sitting in her office catching up on what she had missed. Apparently it had been a lot. Blaine had done a great job at keeping things going but with Sue's charity event this Saturday, there was a lot of extra work.
Santana was getting tired of all this paperwork and bureaucratic shit. Sue's assistant had already left a message asking if she could have lunch meeting with Santana .
Santana picked up her phone and dialed. On the second ring, Elaine picked up. "Good morning, Elaine."
"Santana, how great to hear from you. I take it you got my message about lunch."
"I did and I was wondering if we could reschedule. I have a couple of hours free after lunch." Santana had planned on spending her lunch with Brittany. They were back to their regular routine of only seeing each other during lunch. It sucked.
"You know, I would, but I'm afraid lunch is the only time I can meet," Elaine said, sweetly, "Sue has me running around like crazy."
"I can imagine." Santana kept her vice even, not revealing her disappointment. She'd have to cancel with Brittany. "OK, I'll rearrange my schedule. How about I meet you at the Elixir at 1?"
"Perfect. See you later Santana," Elaine said with a slight giggle.
"Bye." Santana hung up the phone and groaned. She was counting down the days when Sue and her assistant left. She picked up the phone again and dialed. Brittany had just started her shift.
Santana expected it to go straight to voice mail, but Brittany picked up.
"Hi honey," Brittany greeted. Santana could hear the happiness in her voice.
"Oh hi," Santana greeted back, smiling, "I was expecting voice mail."
Brittany cleared her throat. "This is Brittany Pierce, please leave your message after the beep," Brittany said imitating her voicemail, "Beep!"
"You're so cute," Santana said laughing, "I thought you'd be driving."
"I dropped off my first fare and I'm driving back to the hotel. I pulled over when I saw it was you calling. I miss you."
"Oh, sweetie," Santana sighed, "I miss you too."
"I can't wait for lunch."
Santana felt a sinking feeling in her gut. "Britt…"
By the tone of her girlfriend's voice, Brittany's smile faded. "You can't make it, huh?"
"Fucking Sue! With this charity thing moved up a week, it has has caused our schedule to get fucked up. It also didn't help I went on vacation." Santana ran a hand through her hair. "I'm sorry Brittany."
Brittany shrugged her shoulders even though she knew Santana couldn't see her. "It's OK. It's work."
"This is hard." Santana leaned back in her chair. "Going from being together every minute to not seeing each other all day. I feel like I'm going through withdrawals or something."
"Me too," Brittany said sadly, "My Santana withdrawals are so bad."
Santana got an idea. "How about we Skype tonight? We'll get to see each other."
"Yeah, OK!" Brittany's mood suddenly improved. "And we'll have lunch tomorrow, right?"
"For sure," Santana said, "You still have to unpack all your camera equipment."
"I can't wait!" Since they had spent their whole last day in Brittany's apartment, she hadn't seen any of her new equipment yet. "Once I set it all up, you'll be my first photo."
"Nudes?" Santana teased.
"May…bee," Brittany sang
"I love you Britt," Santana said with a laugh.
"I love you too. Have a good day at work."
"You too. Bye."
"Bye."
Both women hung up and stared at the phone for a brief moment before going on with their day.
###
"Thank you for rearranging your schedule, Santana."
Santana smiled at Sue's assistant. Elaine had shown up promptly at 1 and joined her for their work lunch. "It's no problem," Santana lied, "Sue must be working you hard since her charity event is in a few days."
Elaine leaned in and whispered. "She's a nightmare to work for," she said with a light chuckle.
Santana couldn't help but smile. "Why work for her then?"
"She pays very well," Elaine said leaning back, "And what I really want to do doesn't pay much. At least not yet."
"What is that?"
"I'm an artist. Painting and sculpture. If I could, I'd have my own studio and just paint and sculpt all day."
"That's great," Santana said, genuinely glad that Elaine had other interest than being Sue's assistant. Working for Sue is not something Santana would wish on her worst enemy. "Do you get enough time to work on your stuff?"
"I usually work if I'm stressed." Elaine reached in her bag and took out some paperwork. "Which is a lot when working the Sue Sylvester."
"I can only imagine," Santana said turning on her iPad.
"Actually," Elaine said, "I have enough pieces to show at the art show The Dalton is putting on this weekend. You should come."
Santana looked up, confused. "Umm, aren't you forgetting something? You know, the whole reason we are here? Sue's charity event is this Saturday." The small art show had been in the works for a couple of months and was not supposed to be a big event. However, when Sue had suddenly moved up her event, it had caused a bit of a security chaos which Santana had to clean up.
"Oh, uh, about that…."
"What?" Santana put her iPad down and stared at the assistant.
"That's the main reason I needed to meet," Elaine said, looking a little hesitant, "Sue decided to have the event on it's original date instead of earlier."
"What?!" Santana asked, louder.
Elaine gave Santana a small smile and shrugged. "Sue changes her mind a lot."
Santana was pissed. "You mean to tell me, she had us rushing to get everything done because she moved up the date, now she's changing it back? Why? Aren't people flying in this weekend?"
"Let's just say, I had to make a lot of calls." Elaine looked apologetic.
"Son of a bitch!"
"On the bright side, at least you can go to my show," Elaine smiled, clearing trying to calm Santana.
"Wait." Santana picked up her iPad again and looked up the file that contained the information about the art show. She searched and didn't see the name she was looking for. "Your name is not on the cleared artist list."
"You must have an outdated list," Elaine said, "Since you went on vacation, you must have missed the update. Blaine knows all about it."
"I cannot believe this." To say Santana was annoyed was an understatement.
"It's best to just roll with it," Elaine advised, "With Sue, you just never know."
Santana let out a frustrated groan. "I want to talk to her. Can you set something up today?"
Elaine reached across the table and patted Santana's hand. "I'll try," she said with a smile.
"Thanks." Santana knew Elaine was right, she had to let it go.
"So, since your schedule cleared," Elaine said with a shy smile, "Will you come to the art show?"
Santana shrugged her shoulders. "Sure. Sounds like fun."
"Great!" Elaine clasped her hands together. "I'm glad. You know, I think you and I could be good friends."
"Probably," Santana said with a smile. She wondered if Brittany liked art. "I assume I can bring a guest?"
Elaine's smile faltered a bit. "Of course. I'm sure you'd like to bring your girlfriend, Britta, right?"
"Brittany," Santana corrected, "And, yes."
"She's sweet." Elaine's full smile was back. "We ran into each other in the bathroom at dinner the other night."
Santana chuckled. "Do you just hang out in bathrooms when you go out?"
"Seems like it, huh? Anyway, I do hope you bring her. Bring all your friends."
"I will." Santana was starting to see that maybe Elaine was a nice person and just because she worked with Sue, didn't mean she was an evil bitch like her employer.
"Good," Elaine said, "Brittany was adorable. Said how much she loved the restaurant and that she that she could never afford such a place. And said she didn't have to worry about that anymore. I hope that means you're taking her to nice places?"
Santana furrowed her brow at Elaine's story. That didn't sound like Brittany and Santana was sure Elaine must have misunderstood. "I'll make sure to do that. Now, let's get down to business.
Elaine handed Santana the paperwork she had been holding and spent the rest of the meeting talking about work.
###
Brittany parked her taxi in her spot at her building. Her shift had been the same old same with driving people to casinos and the airport. Normally she wouldn't think much of it, but after her weekend with Santana, things were different. Brittany had taken the taxi job because she needed to support her sister but now her sister was on her way to take care of herself and Brittany would have more freedom. She was starting to see how much she did not like her job.
She got out of her cab and began walking to her apartment. She really couldn't wait to use her new equipment and jump back into getting her future started. She still could not believe that Santana had bought her all that stuff. Brittany felt like she needed to get serious about her photography again because she didn't want Santana's gift to go to waste.
When I start making money, Brittany thought, I'm going to take Santana on a trip - Disneyland!
She opened her apartment door to find her sister already home and on the couch, eating cereal. "Jenny!"
Jenny put her cereal down on the coffee table and ran to her sister. "Britt!"
"I missed you!" Brittany said, hugging her tight, "How was your trip?"
"Awesome!" Jenny said pulling back, "I thought I'd hate it but it was great. And I ended up using that box after all," she said with a wink.
"I don't want to know."
"How was your trip?"
"What trip?" Brittany asked, confused.
Jenny smirked. "Your trip to the Island of Santana."
"Oh God," Brittany groaned, "Two minutes in and you're already teasing me." Brittany walked away from her sister and into the kitchen. "And it was awesome. We spent most of the time at the casino, got massages and went to Kurt's party. It was amazing."
Jenny started laughing. "I'm glad. I'm really happy for you Britt. So, where is she? I would have thought you'd guys would be attached at the vagina."
"We had to go back to work," Brittany said sadly. She opened the refrigerator and took out a soda. "I haven't seen her all day and I hate it."
Jenny went back to coffee table and picked up her bowl. "You got it bad, girl. So, now that Santana may very well be my Sister-in-Law, I think she and I need to spend some time together."
"You should! Maybe you guys can go out for ice cream."
"Or, she can get me in that casino and hook me up with some freebies," Jenny said wiggling her eyebrows.
Brittany frowned. "Santana treated me really good this weekend. And she bought me brand new camera equipment."
"Get the fuck out! Really? Can she buy me a set of Kobayashi knives?"
Brittany's frowned deepened.
"What's wrong?"
"I just… I feel a little bad," Brittany said, "The camera stuff was super expensive and I…."
"You don't want her to think you're using her because she has money," Jenny finished.
"She said she knew I wasn't with her for the money, but still."
Jenny stood in front of her, empty cereal bowl in hand, "Is it OK if I use her for her money?" Jenny joked.
Brittany let out a chuckle. "No."
"Just asking." Jenny took her empty bowl and headed to the kitchen. She was almost at the dishwasher when Brittany stopped her.
"Wait! I'll wash that." Brittany had remembered that she in fact never did take out the "toys" from the dishwasher the other day.
"I'm just going to put it in the washer," Jenny said, "No big deal."
Brittany snatched the bowl. "Go finish unpacking. I'll do this."
Jenny shrugged her shoulders. "Whatever."
Brittany breathed out a sigh of relief.
"I'll go finish unpacking," Jenny said when she reached her bedroom door, "And you can secretly take out that dong from the dishwasher."
Brittany dropped the bowl in the sink as her sister disappeared into her bedroom, cracking up.
###
Santana was going on her 10th hour of work and she was exhausted. All she wanted was to go to bed and cuddle with Brittany, but that wasn't an option. She had ended up meeting with Sue and sorting out the charity business. It had turned out, Sue's change in date was just because the designer suit she had ordered special for the event would not be ready this week. Santana kept her cool and tried not to blow up at the fact that a fucking suit was the reason her work had doubled. Sue had also dropped another bomb on Santana that was sure to cause more headaches.
She looked at the clock and decided to call it a day. She still wanted to Skype with Brittany. This day had been so hectic that Santana hadn't had a chance to even text her girlfriend. As she packed up to leave, Artie walked into her office. "Hey, I'm about to call it a day."
"Before you go, I wanted to tell you that I found someone for you," he said, standing by the doorway.
"Huh?"
"Listen Santana," Artie began, "My job is to watch and manage the cameras…not be your assistant."
"Look…"
Artie help up his hand. "Nope. No more excuses. Since you didn't hire someone like you said, I did."
"Wait, hold up," Santana said, standing up, "You hired my assistant without me? You don't have the authority to hire anyone!"
"She's more than qualified," Artie went on, ignoring Santana's protest, "Her name is Sugar Motta and she is just what you need."
Santana was too tired to be mad or protest further. She sighed. "She better not be a weirdo."
"You'll love her. She'll be in tomorrow morning," Artie said before leaving.
####
"Wow," was all Jenny could say.
"Yeah," Brittany went on, "He said he's been clean for almost two years."
After Jenny had unpacked, she had cooked dinner. While they ate, Brittany filled her sister in on what had happened with her father. Brittany knew Jenny wanted a relationship with their father and was willing to give him a chance.
"Can we really have dinner with him?" Jenny asked, looking like she was 10 years old again.
Brittany nodded. "He seems to be OK now. At least I hope. I want to be careful with him. Do you want to have him back in our lives?"
Jenny slowly nodded. "He's our dad, Britt. He's the only parent we have."
Brittany felt her chest tighten at her sister's words. "We have to be careful."
"We'll be careful," Jenny repeated softly.
They finished their dinner and headed to the coach to watch a movie. The news of their father had got them both thinking and talking about their family history. Brittany held her sister until they both fell asleep on the couch.
###
Santana sat on her bed, laptop on her lap, signed on to Skype. She looked at Brittany's status and showed her as offline. Santana picked up her phone and texted Brittany to go online but got no response.
She waited for over an hour before giving up. She put her laptop away and went to sleep hoping she'd be able to see Brittany tomorrow.
When she work up the next mooring, she saw her phone light flash indicating a text. It was Brittany.
-I'm so sorry. I fell asleep watching a movie with Jenny. I told her about dad. Let's met at the coffee shop across the street from the hotel for lunch. Love you!
Santana smiled. She figured there had been a good reason for Brittany not logging on and she was right. She quickly texted back.
-Just woke up. Is Jenny OK?
Santana got out of bed and after bruising her teeth she came back to a text from Brittany.
-She's fine. So? Lunch?
- I'll be there.
Now in a better mood, Santana go ready for the day and prepared hereof to meet her new assistant.
###
Brittany felt butterflies in her stomach as she waited for Santana. It had been almost 36 hours since she's seen her girlfriend and that had felt like an eternity. She had asked Santana to meet her just to get away from the casino. It was scary how much she missed Santana in such a short time.
"Guess who?"
Brittany smiled when she felt warm hands cover her eyes. She knew it was Santana by the feel of her skin and her scent. "Umm….Angelina Jolie?"
"You wish," Santana scoffed. She dropped her hands and Brittany turned around to see her. "Hi."
"Hi," Brittany said, a goofy smile on her face.
Santana leaned in and kissed Brittany, trying to make up for all those hours they hadn't seen each other. "I almost forgot what your kisses were like," Santana whispered against Brittany's lips.
Brittany pulled Santana in closer and kissed her again. Santana moved to sit down on the empty chair next to her without breaking the kiss.
"Did you forget too?" Santana teased. She gave Brittany one more peck and pulled away. "I missed you."
"Me too," Brittany smiled, "I wish we were on vacation again."
Santana sighed. "Me too. Work has been crazy."
"Quinn told me that Sue changed her charity thing again."
"Such a fucking mess." Santana looked around the cafe and wondered where their waiter was because she really needed an Expresso right now.
"You have to order at the counter," Brittany said with a chuckle, "I'll go order. What do you want? My treat."
Santana smiled and told Brittany to order her an Expresso and turkey sandwich. While Brittany was gone, Santana's phone kept buzzing with emails, texts and calendar alerts. As she suspected, they were mostly about the art show and charity event. Everyone was scrambling to change their plans to accommodate the charity event date change. Again.
Brittany picked up the tray with their order and headed back to the table. She saw Santana completely engrossed in her phone, typing away. Brittany put the tray down and sat opposite her girlfriend, who had not noticed Brittany had returned. "Santana."
No response.
Brittany set up the table with their food and placed the tray on the empty table next to them. "Santana."
Santana jumped at Brittany's voice. "Shit! Oh sorry, sweetie…the hotel is a mess right now." She put her phone back in her purse. "No work while I'm with you."
"Good."
"Thank you for lunch." Santana took a sip of her drink. "How are you? Any more news on your dad?"
Brittany ate a french fry and took a sip of her iced coffee. "I talked to him this morning. Jenny and I had a long talk last night and we're going to have lunch this weekend. Can you make it?"
Santana nodded. "I'll make sure I do."
"Thank you." Brittany felt stronger with Santana by her side and knew she could handle anything her father threw at her.
They spent the rest of the lunch talking about anything that wasn't work related. The lunch hour flew by and they were not looking forward to leaving.
"I have to get back on the road." Brittany got up and gathered her things. "Want a ride?"
"Yes, ma'am." Santana winked and gave Brittany her best flirty smile.
"I meant a ride back to the hotel," Brittany laughed, "I know it's across the street but I'm not ready to let you go just yet."
Santana got up and walked out with Brittany, hand in hand. "How about tonight, instead of Skype, I come over? I should be off by 9:30."
"Awesome!" Brittany lead Santana out to the front of the restaurant where she had parked in the taxi zone. "Jenny was saying how she wants to spend more time with you."
"I'd like that," Santana said, getting in the cab. When Brittany got behind the wheel, she spoke again. "Maybe I can take her out for ice cream or something."
"That's what I said!"
Santana let our a small laugh. "Maybe it should be just me and Jenny. No Brittany distractions."
"I'm a distraction?" Brittany turned into The Dalton's main driveway.
"Major distraction," Santana teased, "Shit, we're here already?"
"Yup. And no charge for you Miss. Free ride."
Santana unfastened her seatbelt. "You know, we could both be late back to work and we can take the taxi out back….cross off that item from our secret list."
Brittany leaned over and kissed Santana. "I really wish I could," she pouted, "We'll use the taxi soon. I promise."
"Fine," Santana said in her best sad voice. She got out of the car and closed the door. She leaned down to see Brittany through the open window. "Drive safe."
"I will."
"I'll see you and Jenny tonight, OK?"
"OK." Brittany gave Santana a mischievous smile. "Jenny can tell you about how she found our dildo in the dishwasher."
"What?!" Santana stood up straight, mortified.
Brittany laughed and drove away, watching Santana's shocked face through the rearview mirror.
###
Santana sat in her office looking over the morning security reports and trying not to think about how Brittany's sister had apparently found…it. "Maybe she won't bring it up."
"Bring what up?"
Santana looked up to see Artie enter her office. "Nothing. Where the hell have you been all day? And where the hell is this assistant you hired? It's almost 4 and she's not here. You did say she started today, right?"
"She's been here!" Artie said, "Who do you think organized all your reports? Elves?"
"Watch it, nerd," Santana warned, pointing a finger at Artie, "We may be friends now but I"m still your boss."
"Fine, sorry," Artie said, half-heartedly, "Anyway, Sugar has been here all morning. You've been so busy she hasn't had a ch…."
"Finally! You have some free time!"
Santana stared as a skinny, short woman entered like she owned the place. "Who the hell are you?"
"Sugar Motta," she said, "Your assistant. So, I've got everything organized cause you are a mess. I'm still not done. I really don't know how you haven't gone crazy with how disorganized you are."
"I…"
"I'm setting up your calendar for the month and I'm going to need you to sign this so I can get a company credit card." Sugar handed Santana a financial form. "Come on, now. I need to order office things and all that stuff."
Santana couldn't keep up. She signed the form without reading it.
"Awesome." Sugar took the form back.
"Santana," Artie said, "This is Sugar. Sugar meet Santana."
Santana snapped out of her trance. "Listen Sugar, I think we need to have a talk."
"No time," Sugar said, "You have a meeting in 30 and then a conference call after. You'll find files on your desk with information on the meetings."
It was then Santana saw the two folders Sugar mentioned. She opened them up and found detailed notes on what was to be covered in the meetings. "Uh, wow. Thanks."
"I'll leave you to it," Artie said with a smug smile then left.
"Look Santana… can I call you Santana? Never mind, I will anyway," Sugar went on, "I'm really good at this and live to organize and plan. I'm the best work-thing that's ever happened to you."
Santana expected to be mad and annoyed but instead, she laughed. "I guess. Fine, fine. 60 day trial run and we'll see where we are."
"Knock, knock!" Blaine said from the door.
Santana leaned back in her chair. "Come in. Have you met my new assistant?"
"I have," Blaine smiled, "Hi Sugar."
"Hey Blaine, what up?" Sugar greeted.
Santana had never met someone as unprofessional as Sugar and she found that she kind of liked it. "Yeah, Blaine, what's up?"
"Just came to drop off the USB with the files on the art show this weekend," Blaine said as he came in and sat across from Santana.
"I'll go," Sugar said, "Oh! One last thing. I saw the delivery that came to your room the other day and thought it was for the casino. I couldn't find the receipt so I had the photography shop send me a copy to log it in, but then saw it was paid with your personal credit card." Sugar took out another form. "I need you to sign this to delete the transaction from the hotel financials since it's over $5,000."
Santana signed the form and once Sugar was gone, turned her attention to Blaine who was giving her a weird look. "What?"
"You didn't."
"What?"
"You bought Brittany $5,000 worth of camera equipment?" Blaine looked disappointed.
"It was closer to $7,000," Santana joked.
Blaine groaned. "I thought we talked about this, you know, not playing Supergirl? And here you are spending thousands of dollars on gifts."
Santana rolled her eyes. "Holy shit Blaine! It's not like I bought her a fucking fur coat and diamond earrings. She needs this equipment for her career."
"It's still a lot of money," Blaine stated.
"So? What if Britt were just my friend? Would me buying those things for her be OK?" Santana got up from her chair and went to the one way wall that looked out into the command center. "It's my money and I'll spend it any way I want."
"I'm not trying to start a fight," Blaine said getting up, "I told you not to play super hero and swoop in an fix everything."
"And I didn't!" Santana was getting mad. "I stayed out of her family life like you said. But that was before. She's my girlfriend now and I'm in love with her. I'm serious about her Blaine. This isn't like the other women I've dated that only lasted a couple of months. And for the record, I've never spent that much money on anyone."
"You're right," Blaine said, "Brittany isn't like any of your past girlfriends. I've never seen you get this serious so fast with anyone."
Santana turned to face her friend. "Doesn't that tell you something? I keep telling you, it's different with Brittany. You've known me for years, seen me with my past girlfriends, you must see how different this is with Brittany."
"I do."
"Then why the fuck are you interrogating me?" Santana asked, hand on her hips.
"Because I like Brittany!" Blaine said, crossing his arms, "She's sweet and we've become really good friends and if you guys break up, it would suck. I've gotten to know her and she's definitely not like anyone you've ever dated before. She doesn't care that you can buy her nice things, so don't. I mean, do buy her things. " Blane uncrossed his arms. "But don't go overboard. Don't buy her fur coats and make her feel like some sort of kept woman."
"You think I'd do that?" Santana scoffed.
"Not on purpose." Blaine went to Santana's desk and left a USB with files she needed on her desk. "But, I can see you wanting to take her everywhere and buy her everything she wants. I bet you already picked out the first place you'll take her."
Santana bit the inside of her cheek and looked way.
"Where?" Blaine asked with a chuckle.
Santana crossed her arms and rolled her eyes. "I really hate how well you know me."
"Where?"
"I thought … I think she'd really like Disneyland," Santana sighed.
"Slow down." Blaine went to open the office door. "If Brittany was your wife or you had been dating a year, I wouldn't say anything. But, you've only known her a short time and only officially been dating less."
"Fine!" Santana went back to her seat. "No fur coats."
"No fur coats," Blaine repeated and left.
###
"What time is she supposed to be here?" Jenny asked.
Brittany checked her phone and saw a text from Santana an hour ago saying she was almost done. "She said she got off at 9:30. It's only 8."
"Good." Jenny rubbed her palms together. They had just finished dinner and were on the couch watching TV.
"Don't you dare!" Brittany warned. Jenny gave her an innocent look. "You better not tease her about what you found."
"Hey! You two shouldn't be leaving your sex toys around where a child can find them."
Brittany rolled her eyes. "You'll be 18 in like a month!"
Jenny tried to keep up a serious face but failed and started laughing. When she finally settled down, she spoke again. "Seriously though, nice work on moving on to sex toys so soon. Didn't think you were that kinky Britt."
"As close as we are," Brittany said, "I really don't want to talk about my sex life with my baby sister."
"Oh, now I'm a baby? Not two seconds ago you were saying I was practically an adult! Which is it?"
"It's whatever I want to be. Now shut it and let's watch TV."
By 9:45, Santana hadn't texted or called.
"Text her," Jenny said, stifling a yawn.
Brittany did and waited but no response came.
"She probably got held up catching some bad guys," Jenny said.
By 10:30, Jenny couldn't stay awake anymore. "When Santana calls, tell her she owes me ice cream and a new pair of shoes."
"I will," Brittany smiled, "She must have got super busy. Go to bed. You'll see her in the morning."
Jenny got up and kissed the top of Brittany's head. "Night."
"Good night."
Once Jenny closed the door to her room, Brittany turned off the TV and headed to her own room. While she was sad that Santana was late, she understood. Brittany had had her fair share of late nights. She got ready for bed and just hoped Santana would show up before Brittany fell asleep. "I should have given her a key," she said to herself.
Brittany finished up and as she began to get into bed, her phone alerted her to a text. It was Santana.
- Open your door.
Brittany smiled and headed to her front door. When she opened it, she found her, very tired, girlfriend standing there.
"I'm here to sex you up," Santana said, sounding just as tired as she looked.
"Aww, honey." Brittany pulled Santana inside and closed the door. "What happened?"
Brittany pulled her into a hug and Santana melted. "I'm sorry Britt," she said against Brittany's chest, "Of course shit hits the fan when I what to leave on time."
"Come on." Brittany kissed the top of Santana's head and lead her to the bedroom. "I have some clothes ready for you."
Santana felt a warmth all over her body at seeing what Brittany had done. Her girlfriend had put out some sleep clothes for her and had placed an unopened toothbrush on top. "Britt…thank you. How did you know I'd forget to pack anything?"
Brittany shrugged her shoulders. "I figured when you didn't show up and hadn't texted, that you got busy."
Santana reached for Brittany and kissed her. "Thank you."
"Of course," Brittany said, kissing her back, "Go get dressed."
Within minutes, Santana was ready for bed.
Brittany slid down the bed and motioned for Santana to do the same. Santana rested her head on Brittany's chest, and Brittany began to run her hand through Santana's soft hair.
"Did you catch some bad guys?" Brittany asked softly.
"I wish." Santana snuggled closer to Brittany. "There's an art show this weekend that wasn't supposed to be a big deal, but now it is. Sue's assistant is now a featured artist, so Sue decided she wanted to show some pieces too."
"The evil lady is an artist?"
"So she says." Santana rolled her eyes. "So now, this little art show has turned into a big thing."
"That sucks."
"Mmm-hmm." Santana closed her eyes, loving the feel of Brittany. "You're the best pillow."
Brittany frowned. "That Elaine woman is an artist too?"
"Yeah. I actually met with her and she seems nice. She invited us to her show."
"Oh yeah?" Brittany instinctively hugged Santana tighter. "Are you going?"
Santana lifted her head and looked at Brittany. "Now I have to with Sue playing Picasso. Can you go? Please say you can because I can't deal with all that snobbery alone."
Brittany gave Santana a small smile. "Of course I will."
Santana leaned in and kissed Brittany. "Thank you." Santana placed her head back on Brittany's chest.
Brittany kissed the top of Santana's head while Santana ran her hand up and down Brittany's side.
They stayed that way for a long while. Santana felt Brittany's breathing go slow and steady, just like her own. They were drifting off into sleep.
"I still…" Santana yawned, "...Mmmmmm...I still have to sex you up..."
"Tomorrow," Brittany whispered, not moving, "But don't say 'sex you up' anymore, OK?"
Santana didn't answer. She was already asleep.

A/N: What is this? An update so soon? I'm trying to make up for that one 3-4 month stretch I didn't update. Not sure if I can keep this up but I'm going to update as soon as I can.
Again, thank you to all following/favoriteing (is that a word?)! Also big thank you to those taking the time to leave a comment. I do love hearing from you.
Now, on to some other news. I really need Assistant!Sugar in my life cause I apparently found a doc where I had started writing an Epilogue to the Epilogue to "Been There All Along" and never finished it. It's nothing dramatic or exciting but if you all who have read that story are interested, I'll go ahead and finish it. Really, it's pretty much 95% fluff so not sure if that'll be a "edge of your seat" reading. It can probably be a short sequel. Any interest?
:-P
