Hope you guys had an awesome valentines day, I am going to hopefully try and update every Tuesday from now on as I don't have much homework with my courses from this semester. The only problem is I would have three stories to update. This, my story for Vampire Academy and my new one for the Originals. So I will try my best. I think if I write a lest two chapters for each story every week I can be ahead in writing stories and can update as I won't have to write anything. So hopefully cross your fingers.
And thank you to all who have been following and favouring this story and me. You guys are all amazing and I love you all for everything. So enough of be talking and here you go :) Hope this chapter doesn't make you cry, cause its going to make me writing it.
"Its Kat she's been in a car crash"
Clove ran down the hallways of the hospital. The white walls and floors a blur as she ran dodging patients and nurses. The smell of cleaning products were strong in the air, almost intoxicating. She could hear Cato running behind her but she didn't turn around to take a look. She just ran twisting and turning down different hallways. Finally she almost ran strait into a nurse who stopped her in her tracks.
"Miss you can't run in these hallways" she said sternly. Her narrow eyes shooting daggers though thick black glasses. Her brown hair pulled into a slick bun at the back on her head, and dressed in all white.
"I'm sorry" Clove said somewhat out of breath. She pushed her tangled black hair out of her face as she tried to catch her breath. She was still in her dress from dinner and had rushed here once she got the call from Peeta. At that moment Cato caught up beside her, him out of breath as well. "I was just trying to find my friend. She was just admitted her about half an hour ago. Her names Kat Everdeen"
"I'm sorry miss, but I don't know who that is. You can ask the front desk and they will direct you. But you must walk" she said a bony finger pointed at Clove.
"I will" she said getting impatient.
"Alright. Down the hall, take your first left then the second right" the nurse said before she headed back down the hall. Clove sped walked down the hall being careful of the other nurses so she wouldn't get caught. She finally reached the front desk that had a nurse behind the desk on the phone. Three other people were in front of her waiting for the nurse as well.
Clove stood in line patiently waiting for everybody to speak to the nurse. Cato had wrapped his arm around Clove's waist as an attempt of comfort her, but she shrugged it off not wanting any comfort. Finally she was able to speak to the nurse.
"How may I help you?" The nurse asked from the desk, not even looking up from her computer.
"Hi, my friend was just admitted here and I wanted to know her room number" Clove said pulling her hair into a pony tail to keep it out of her face. Cato could see the sweat buds that formed on Clove's face from uneasiness, and the tear stains on her check from when she got the phone call.
"What's her name?" the nurse questioned looking up from the computer. Her blonde hair was in a very messy bun and clumps stuck to the side of her face. She had dark circles under her eyes from some serious lack of sleep. She looked even worse then Clove did.
"Kat Everdeen" she said tapping her hand on the counter of the desk. Cato put his hand on top of hers to stop the tapping. She didn't even look up at him. He knew what she was going though, but he didn't say a word to her. Afraid of how she might react.
"Just a moment" the nurse tapped away the computer her eyes scanning over the bright light up screen, her mouse clicking away. "She's in room 4116. On the fourth floor in the west wing"
"Thank you" Clove mumbled before she slipped off her heels that were on her feet and stepped aside for the person behind her to go. She put her shoes in her hand and padded barefoot back down the hallway to the elevators. Cato kept close behind her ready for a mental breakdown at any moment, but Clove kept her cool.
She looked strait ahead and didn't give a look to anybody that passed her. Even the people that gave looks with what she was wearing. She got into the elevator Cato behind her and pressed the fourth floor button.
Clove wondered down the halls looking for Kats room number. There wasn't much patients or nurses on this floor. It was just empty white halls that stank of cleaning products and had carts with medical tools on them. She passed by each room looking at the room numbers and people inside.
4114, 4115 and 4116.
Clove ran into the room, expecting to find Kat in one of the beds, only she wasn't. There was only one other person in the room for a group of three.
A young women around her early twenties. She had short blonde hair that was in a bun on top of her head. She lay asleep in the hospital bed, an IV hooked into her arm. She had gauze wrapped around her neck and arm.
"She's not in there" Clove said walking out of the room to see Cato. "Her name is written on a white board above one of the beds but she's not there"
Cato glanced up into the room, before looking back at Clove. "Is anybody in there?"
She gave out a big breath looking at the floor. "Ya some girl is"
"Ask her, if she's seen her"
"I can't shes asleep"
"Let me try Peeta, he has to be here" Cato said as she pulled out his phone and dialled his number. Clove stepped away from him as he tried and called Peeta. She started walking down the small hallways glancing into rooms for any sign of a nurse or doctors. Finally she found one at the end of the hallway. He held a worry look on his face and a clipboard in his arm scanning over it.
"Sir!" Clove ran up to him pushing down her dress as it rode up. He glanced up from his work and caught her eye.
"Hi, how can I help you?" he said quickly, needing to be somewhere.
"Room 4116. Its supposed to have Kat Everdeen in it. Where is she?"
"She's in surgery"
"Surgery?" Clove whispered.
"Yes, she came in with some serious injury's. I'm not her doctor so I don't know what they were exactly, but all I know is that she was admitted into surgery" he said glancing at the watch on his wrist. "About an hour ago. Excuse me" he said before taking off down the hall.
Clove walked back to Cato who was cursing at his phone. "Whats wrong?"
"He won't pick up" he said shoving the phone into his pocket. "What did the doctor say?"
"He said she was in surgery. She had some serious injury's, but he doesn't know the details; he's not her doctor"
"Well were out of options right now for information" he said puffing out his breath, frustrated. "I left a voice mail on Peeta's phone, lets go down to the cafeteria and wait for him to call" Cato said. He lead Clove to the stairs and they took it down down to the first floor.
After several twists and turns they found themselves in the cafeteria of the hospital. It was more depressing then the hospital its self. People sat all around at tables. There was quite a few people for one am. A lot had dark circles and messy hair, they looked like they hadn't left in a while and needed a lot of sleep. Most people here looked like they did.
A lot had depressing looks on there face and coffee on the table, trying to keep them awake. One women was at a coroner table crying, looking though her phone. She had obviously gotten some bad news. She hadn't noticed Cato wasn't beside her until she looked over at the counter and he was there buying two cups of coffee.
Clove didn't know why she hadn't cried since she got here. She had cried the minute she hung up the phone, and did the entire time in the car to get here. But as soon as she got in she had stopped. For some place that was so sad all the time she thought there would be more crying people. Her included.
She sat down at any empty table and fiddled with the ring on her finger. The one Cato had given her for Christmas, with there birthstones. Everything had seemed so simple back then. Now there life was at a screeching halt. Cato sat down beside her and slid a coffee in her direction. She took it and and slowly slipped it.
It wasn't until around two thirty am that Cato's phone finally rang. "Yep okay, we will. Bye" he said quickly standing up from the table.
"What's happening?" Clove questioned standing up. "Was it about Kat?"
"Common" he said as he grabbed her hand. They headed back up to the fourth floor. At Kat's room they found Peeta sitting in a chair outside of the room.
"Peeta!" Clove yelled as she ran into him giving him a huge hug. "What happened?! Why didn't you call us back" she said pulling away.
"I'm sorry. I was on the phone with Kat's mom, then had to talk to the police and the doctor. I just finished up like ten minutes ago"he said standing up from the chair.
"The police?"
"Ya to file the report on what happened" he said. Clove could see the tear stains on Peeta's face. She knew it wasn't good.
"What did happen?" she asked.
"Well according to bystanders. She was driving on the road to meet me for dinner. A drunk driver was on the other side of the road and he swerved and came into her lane. Hit her right on" he said his throat tightening.
Clove struggled a gasp as her hand covered her mouth. She struggled to keep in tears and screams and Cato wrapped his arm around her, pulling her in. "What about her injuries?"
"Well she had some serious brain damage, a lot of bleeding. And her heart stopped. That's why she's in surgery. The guy was driving a truck when he hit her. She was in her small car. So he smashed her entire car, her included. When they hit, her head went though her side window. She had pieces of glass stuck in her face, one is right under her eye. She could go blind in it. She also broke her shoulder done and tailbone. And she fractured her spine. It's very serious"
Clove stood there speechless. "And him?" Cato asked speaking for the first time"
"He had a broken leg and arm. A few deep cuts from some shattered glass and a minor concussion. But he's going to walk away from this. She might not" he said tears down his face.
"What do you mean she might not?" Clove said between tears.
"The doctors don't think she's going to make it"
So how are you holding up? Are you crying because I am.
Don't forget to review and I will see you all hopefully next week.
