I know I suck for taking so long to update! I hope you enjoy it!
Worth The Wait
My eyes fluttered open at the sound of the sound of birds and I was immediately met with a bright light. I looked up sourly to find that it was the sun. It was shining brighter than usual, casting an odd and eerie orange glow over everything. I frowned slightly as I sat up slowly and looked around, wondering where the hell I was. I was sitting in the middle of a vast field that was lushly green and lined with trees. I rose to my feet and looked down to find that I was wearing a long white dress adorned with sequins and lace. It was a beautiful dress, but definitely not something that I owned. I raised my hand to shield my eyes from the brightness, pivoting on my toes in a circle, nearly jumping out of my skin when I saw Bill Compton standing directly behind me and far more closer than I liked.
"Bill!" I screeched with a heavy sigh. "You scared me."
"I am sorry," he said in that southern accent of his. "I didn't mean too."
"Where are we?" I asked looking around again. "What are we doing here?"
"We are together, where we belong," he answered taking a step closer to me.
I frowned at his response, one eyebrow arching. Bill reached out, one finger brushing the line of my jaw. I flinched away from his touch, making him frown.
"There is no reason to fear me, Chase," he said with a small smile on his lips.
"I don't fear you," I replied taking a step backward.
"I will not harm you. My only desire is to protect you," Bill insisted taking another step toward me, regaining the space that I had put between us.
My frown deepened. "Protect me from what?"
"Anything. Everything. You shall have nothing to fear, for you are mine."
His fangs unsheathed with a click making me flinch again. "Bill, what the hell are you talking about? What are you doing?"
He said nothing as he stepped toward me quickly, grabbing me by the waist and pulling me against him. I began to struggle immediately, kicking and screaming as he held me tightly, my arms pushing weakly against his chest. His hand entangled itself into my hair, yanking my head back to expose my neck. I froze in fear, wondering why I felt no energy welling inside of my stomach.
"Bill, please, don't," I pleaded.
He ignored my pleading as his hand tightened painfully in my hair, his head swooping down into the crook of my neck just before I felt the bite of his teeth into my flesh.
I sat up with a huge gasp, coming out of the dream with my heart still pounding and sweat beading across my skin. The first thing my eyes took in was the sight of Bill, standing right beside me. The sleeve of his coat was rolled up allowing me to see that a tube was protruding from his forearm; a dark liquid traveling through it. My eyes followed the tubing until I found the other end, which was attached by an IV in my left hand, his blood going right into my body. A sick sense of revulsion welled up inside of me and I felt a frown come across my face. I ripped the IV from my hand, sparking a lot of pain, which was dulled by the immense anger that I felt.
"Bill! What the hell are you doing?" I yelled angrily. "Get away from me!"
Bill looked startled at my outburst, his face falling. I felt warm hands and on my shoulders and turned to see that it was Alcide standing on the opposite side of the bed that I was now sitting in, Sookie right beside him. "Chase, it's alright," he said. "Calm down."
I didn't feel calm. I was still angry. I didn't know what the hell was going on. I looked around the rest of the room, realizing with a frown that I was in the hospital. It explained the IV and the incessant beeping in my ear from the monitors that were still attached to me. I looked at Sookie and Alcide, still feeling confused and angered.
"Don't freak out," Sookie said raising her hands as if I had a gun on her. "We didn't have another choice, you would have died and obviously Eric wasn't here to help."
"What…what happened?" I asked looking at all of them. "Why am I here?"
Sookie and Alcide shared a worried glance.
"You don't remember?" Alcide asked sounding concerned.
My brow furrowed as I tried to remember, calling up only black until it all came back in a sudden rush. Russell Edgington. Bill. Eric. The slave quarters. Coot. Debbie. And last, but not least the knife. My hand went to the side of my neck immediately, finding gauze and tape there. She had cut me. I still could feel the sting of the blade even though I felt no other pain.
"She…she…cut me," I said in disbelief looking down.
"I apologize for not asking your permission before giving you my blood, but you were quite unconscious and near death," Bill said calling my attention and bowing his head politely. "And Sookie insisted."
I hesitated as I looked at him, seeing the sincerity in his eyes. Bill had never done anything to hurt me, hell he had saved my life before, but I was still shaken by the dream Bill. I tried to show some appreciation on my face, but I wasn't sure if it made it through.
"Well…Thank you Bill…" I said softly.
"You are quite welcome, Chase. I am glad that you are alright," Bill said with a nod.
"I think it's time for you to go," Alcide said through clenched teeth looking at Bill with a frown.
The air in the room immediately shifted, tension rose as Bill frowned at Alcide before turning saddened eyes on Sookie. I watched them all curiously, wondering just how much I had missed while I was out.
"I will be taking my leave now," Bill said taking slow steps backward towards the door, his eyes on Sookie. "Unless you require something else?
Sookie looked troubled, but she shook her head, crossing her arms tightly over her chest. "No. Thanks, Bill."
Bill visibly deflated, but nodded. "My pleasure, Sookie."
The silence continued until Bill left the room completely, shutting the room door behind him. I turned to Sookie expecting an explanation of why she didn't want her precious Bill constantly at her side like usual. Her eyes were still on the door, her arms hugging herself tightly as she let out a heavy sigh.
"What happened? Did I miss something?" I asked.
Sookie huffed, her eyes dropping. "You missed a lot actually, but it doesn't matter right now. I am just glad that you are alright. How are you feeling?"
"Sookie, I feel fine. Tell me what happened," I demanded gently.
Sookie hesitated and shuffled her feet for a moment, before finally looking me in the eye. "Bill attacked me…He didn't mean too…but he did."
I felt my face fall, feeling a confusing mixture of anger and sympathy for Bill well up inside of me. It was hard to imagine that Bill would ever do anything to hurt Sookie. "What? When?"
"On the way here," Alcide answered for her. "We were driving like hell to get you to the hospital, before you bled to death."
"I was in the back of the truck with Bill," Sookie continued. "I cut my arm and offered my blood and in his weakened state he went into a frenzy and attacked me."
"He almost killed her," Alcide added with a hint of anger and irritation to his tone, as he looked at Sookie.
Sookie seemed a bit upset by Alcide's comment, but nodded in agreement. "That he did…but he also saved our lives," she countered. "If he hadn't of given us his blood we both would have died."
"Well at least we are both alright," I said reaching out and taking her hand.
Sookie squeezed my hand quickly, before releasing it with a big sigh. "Well I am going to go and let the others know that you are awake and okay now. They were worried."
"Others?" I asked in confusion.
"Tara, Jason, and Lafayette," Sookie answered. "They came when they heard what happened. They are in the cafeteria down stairs."
"Oh…"
"I will be back in a bit," she said heading for the door.
Alcide and I nodded, watching her until she was out of sight before turning back to each other. There was that familiar heat in the air between us, but also something else. Alcide seemed tensed, his hands shoved into the pockets of his jump suit. I felt my stomach tighten as I worried that I had missed something more, that I had angered him somehow. My mind went back to that moment when Debbie had me by the throat, the metal against my skin, that horrified look on Alcide's face. Was he angry that I had almost died? Was he angry that I hadn't listened to him? I suddenly remembered the energy exploding out of me, the intensity of it, the raw power. Had I killed Debbie?
"Is Debbie alive?" I blurted quickly, making Alcide's face fall.
"What?" he breathed seeming surprised.
"Did I kill Debbie?" I continued.
"No, Chase. Debbie was alive as far as I could tell. Knocked out cold, but alive. Although I wasn't too concerned about her when you were bleeding out right there in my arms," Alcide replied, a hint of anger in his tone.
"Oh," I said deflating slightly. It was a bit of relief to hear, I may not have been too fond of her –okay I hated her with the intensity of the sun- but I wasn't a murderer either. "Then why do you seem so upset?"
Alcide huffed as if I was stupid for even having to ask. "Chase, I watched my ex slit your throat," he said shaking his head. "I thought…." He broke off and sighed, sitting down on the bed beside me. "I thought she had killed you, Chase. And you have no idea how that made me feel to see that." An image of the horrified look upon Alcide's face as Debbie sliced through my skin flashed in my mind. "If she would have…" he trailed off shaking his head. "I just don't know how I would have lived with myself if something happened to you. I care about you a lot."
I felt those butterflies swarm in my stomach, feeling breathless as I looked into his brown eyes. I already knew how he felt about me, but hearing it straight from his mouth meant so much more. It was exactly what I had wanted to hear from Eric, but never had.
"Alcide-."
A knock on the door cut me off, making me turn to the door with an irritated frown. It seemed Alcide and I could never have a moment alone that wasn't interrupted. The door swung open and a red headed woman stepped through, smiling hesitantly and tucking a clip board under her arm pit. I shifted in the bed uneasily wondering if she knew about Bill healing me with his blood.
"I am sorry to interrupt Ms. Morgan, but your friend told me that you were awake. I'm Dr. Sekular," she said stepping into the room further until she reached my bedside. "How are you feeling?"
"I feel fine," I answered.
"That's great," she said. "Using vampire blood to heal a patient is certainly something that we would never allow normally, but under these circumstances, we had no choice. It was the only way to save your life."
I blinked, surprised by the fact that she was aware of the vampire blood transfusion. "I'm not complaining or anything, but couldn't you have just given me a transfusion?" I asked with a soft chuckle.
Dr. Sekular hesitated, looking at Alcide, who shifted uncomfortably. She looked back to me. "You weren't told?"
I felt my stomach sink in slightly. "Told what?"
"We tried to give you a transfusion, but you rejected it….quite violently," Dr. Sekular answered. "It put you into a coma."
"What? Well aren't you supposed to check my blood type first? Did you do that?" I demanded.
Dr. Sekular nodded. "Of course, it is standard protocol, but we were unable to determine yours. So we gave you O Negative, the universal donor, you immediately went into seizures and your body began to shut down. There was nothing we could do, until your vampire friend arrived."
"So wait you're telling me that…I don't have a blood type?"
Dr. Sekular hesitated. "We aren't sure... if you would allow us to run more tests, we could-."
"No," I said quickly, shaking my head. "I want to go home. I don't want to do tests."
"But if you allowed us to run tests we could determine why you don't-."
"She said no alright," Alcide cut in, coming to my aid once again. "Just get the paperwork so she can get the hell out of here."
The doctor did not seem pleased at all, but turned and left the room. I watched her leave, feeling a sense of dread sitting in my stomach. I felt Alcide's warm hand on my shoulder. "Chase, are you alright?"
I nodded, swallowing the hard lump that formed in my throat. "Yes, I am fine," I said trying to keep my voice from cracking.
"I didn't know the doctor was going to tell you like that," he said motioning to the door. "I was going to tell you when I knew you felt better."
"It's fine, Alcide. It's just a little confusing is all," I said with a small shrug.
"I'm pretty sure they have a bunch of idiots working in their labs because they had the same problem with Sookie," Alcide insisted.
I felt my face fall slightly. "They did?"
Alcide nodded. "Yeah, they couldn't find out her blood type and they gave her O Negative too, but she had the same reaction as you."
I was letting that sink when the sound of footsteps called my attention to the door. Sookie shuffled through looking exhausted as she hugged herself. "Tara, Jason, and Lafayette say hi," she replied as she came to my bed side. "They wouldn't let more than one visitor in for some stupid reason. We already broke hospital policy enough with having Bill give us his blood so we didn't argue it."
"Tell them I said hi," I replied.
"I will. Hey, listen… if it's alright with you, I am going to ride back to Bon Temps with them tonight," Sookie said seeming nervous. "I have had my fill of Jackson. I want to shower and sleep in my own bed and just put this craziness behind me…. Is that okay?"
I nodded. "Yeah, Sook that's fine. I am sure Alcide can get me back to Bon Temps safely," I said looking at Alcide who nodded.
"We will wait for you to be discharged before we go okay?" she said.
"Okay, hopefully it will be soon," I replied.
After the doctors gave me a clean bill of health, they reluctantly allowed me to be discharged twenty minutes later. They tried again to ask more questions and wanted to run more tests, not understanding why they couldn't determine my blood type or Sookie's, but I refused to answer. I didn't know what I could have said anyway that would be able to explain it without exposing myself and just how not human I probably was. Sookie and I parted ways in the parking lot, promising to call each other in the morning. Alcide insisted that Sookie not be left alone because of Russell Edgington who undoubtedly would be after her and me. Jason promised to stay the night with her, which made me feel a little better about not going home with her. I promised to get her bags and return them the next morning when I made it back to Bon Temps.
Alcide made it clear to me that I shouldn't be left alone either since not only was Russell Edgington after me, but Debbie as well. And unlike Russell, she could go out in the day time. Unlike all the other times I was told I would need a body guard I didn't fight him on it. I didn't want to be left alone. I had no delusions about the amount of danger I was in this time, having your throat cut was a real eye opener. He reasoned that we should return to Bon Temps tonight seeing as Russell might not expect me to go back there so soon.
After stopping by Alcide's apartment long enough to get my bags and Sookie's and let Alcide change and pack some clothes; we headed to Bon Temps. The drive to Bon Temps wasn't very long, but we spent it in silence. I had a lot on my mind and Alcide seemed to sense it and thankfully didn't attempt conversation because I wouldn't have been a very good partner. I knew that he and I had so much to talk about which included the change that was happening between us and my growing feelings for him, but my lack of a blood type and imminent danger weighed heavy on my mind.
When Alcide finally pulled into my driveway I was very relieved to see my house still standing and untouched. I climbed out of the passenger side with a small smile on my face. I was happy to be home where even though it had been compromised before, I still felt safe. I was in need of a hot shower, a hot meal, and my warm bed. I wanted to completely forget about all the events that had transpired in Jackson, which included Eric and Debbie. I was in need of a drama and carefree night. I quietly hoped that I had some beer or hard liquor hidden in the fridge.
Alcide was very quiet behind me as I unlocked the front door and pushed it open, stepping into the darkness of my house. Alcide stepped in past me, his warmth almost overwhelming, and immediately began searching the house after dropping our bags. I shut the door behind us and flicked on the lights, feeling my stomach growl as I eyed my kitchen.
"I am starved," I called down the hallway to where Alcide had gone to check the rooms. "Are you hungry?"
I went for the fridge and was eyeing the contents when I felt Alcide's presence behind me, finding him leaning against the wall of the entrance to my kitchen, staring at me, his eyes dark and intense. I swallowed hard, wondering why a lump had formed in my throat and butterflies were fluttering in my stomach. He seemed tense again, his jaw was tight and his shoulders were squared.
"Everything clear?" I asked shutting the fridge.
"Yeah, no wolves or vampires," he answered shortly.
"Is something wrong?" I continued, unable to ignore the tension in the air.
"Everything's fine," Alcide said.
I didn't believe him. "Then why do you seem so… tense?"
"We're alone," he replied simply as if that was enough explanation.
I stared blankly at him for a moment wondering just what it was he was trying to get at when it hit me. He and I hadn't been completely alone since we were last in Bon Temps and things had definitely changed since then. We both knew how we felt about each other now and the sexual tension was irrefutably there. The only thing that we had lacked was opportunity to act on said feelings and tension. And now we were utterly alone and there was nothing, but opportunity and time.
"You know how I feel about you, Chase," he stated.
"I do," I replied with a nod.
"Are we on the same page?" he asked crossing his arms over his chest.
My stomach tightened at his roundabout way of questioning if I felt the same. His eyebrow arched at my hesitation. I swallowed hard. "We are…We are the same page," I answered with another nod.
"Do you want to do this?" he asked his tone low and husky. "Cause if you don't I need to know now, before I can't stop myself."
He didn't need to elaborate. I knew exactly what he meant. And I did. Quite frankly I wanted nothing more. I needed it. I was overdue for some kind of release, especially after what I had been through the past few days and the tension that Alcide and I created whenever we were together. I wanted to be lost in him, to forget everything that had happened to me. For all I knew I would be dead by tomorrow and if I died without giving Alcide a chance when he had put his life on the line for me multiple times and had been nothing, but honest with me would positively leave me with regrets.
I looked him in the eyes and nodded. "Yes, I want to do this."
Alcide pushed himself off the wall taking long quick strides until he reached me and took my face into his hands. I had stopped breathing all together as he strode towards me, my heart thudding in my chest so hard I could practically hear it. My eyes closed on instinct, his kiss came next, lips soft and supple and fitting perfectly against mine. I moaned involuntarily as he pressed his body harder against mine, allowing me to feel every muscular inch of him. I couldn't stop my hands as they went for his shirt tugging at the material weakly. My skin was on fire, my body feverish with lust. I wanted all of him, I needed more. I was done holding back. I had waited too long.
I wasn't aware that we were moving until my back hit the wall of the kitchen with a heavy thud, sending a spark of pain up my back and knocking the clock hanging above my head to the floor. We finally broke apart when the deprivation of air became too much, leaving me panting and huffing. His mouth went to my neck next sending fiery sparks down my spine and eliciting wanton moans from my throat. Alcide's hands found their way under the material of my shirt, grasping my flesh hard, pulling me even tighter against his body. He withdrew from me long enough to pull my shirt over my head and then his mouth was back on mine, his hands moving to my pants next. My pants slid down my hips making Alcide's lips leave mine to kiss and lick their way down the center of my body. My back arched as his teeth bit into the flesh just below my belly button, his hands gripping the sides of my panties before pulling them down. My body was shivering with want as he used one hand to lift my right leg and place it over his shoulder, leaving me to balance myself on me left. My hand shot out, grabbing the counter top nearby to brace myself as I felt his lips trailing my inner thigh, leaving sparks of electricity along my skin.
I groaned loudly when I felt the warmth of his tongue lick the length of my sex. My knees wobbled as he continued, tongue flicking against my clit, mouth exploring hungrily. I was dangerously close to losing balance when Alcide pressed his palm flat against my stomach, pushing me back into the wall and holding me steady. My fingers dug into his shoulder as my body coiled tightly, waiting to come undone, overwhelmed with pleasure. My hips rolled against his mouth involuntarily, wanting more, needing release. I felt close to the edge and seconds later I went, bucking and moaning against the wall.
"Oh my god, Alcide," I breathed as I started to descend from my climax.
He responded with a pleased groan, picking up speed, his tongue circling my clit before pulling it into his mouth. I lost all resolve again and came with a moan of his name, my body spasming as I rode out wave after wave of pleasure. Alcide didn't stop, he continued while the throb of my orgasm began to die down, only to pick back up within seconds. Another hit me like waves crashing onto rocks and I cried out again, my knees wobbled threatening to give out. He relented after a few more licks and straightened, pressing his body back into mine as his hand tangled in my hair. I was struggling to stand, my brain hardly functioning, the remnant throbs from my orgasm still rushing through me.
His mouth came back to mine seconds later, harder and stronger, his tongue probing. I picked up my pace to match his, pulling hard on the lapels of his shirt to rip it open, sending buttons flying across my kitchen before pushing it off his shoulders. I let out a low sigh at the sight of his sculpted body; he was all muscle, defined like a sculpture, not one ounce of fat visible on him.
God it should be illegal for him to look this damn good….
I went for his buckle yanking his belt free from the loops and unbuttoning them before pushing them down his hips just enough to free himself. I felt his erection against my thigh, heard the low rumble of a growl deep in his chest, which only made me even more impatient. The orgasm had satisfied me, but it also had reawakened and amplified my need, leaving me wanting.
"Alcide, please," I begged as his mouth left mine and went for my throat again leaving a wet trail to my shoulder. I couldn't wait anymore. I needed more.
One large warm hand tucked under my bare ass, lifting me, my back sliding against the wall. I gasped when I felt him press against my entrance, his body tense, and his fingers digging into my skin. He slid into me without hesitation, right to the hilt. I couldn't stop the pain filled yelp that screeched from my lips, my whole body tensing around him. It felt just like the first time, the pain and the pleasure mixed into one, but this time the pain was greater. Alcide was wider than Eric had been, stretching me further than I had ever been. I heard Alcide let out a slow hiss followed by another deep growl. He didn't give me time to adjust; he picked up a smooth, but forceful rhythm that had my eyes rolling. My nails dug further into his flesh, I was panting like a dog in heat and I was pretty sure that my heart was going to beat right out of my chest. The pain ebbed away with each thrust and was replaced with the feelings of ecstasy and my impending orgasm. My legs wrapped tighter around Alcide's waist, forcing his thrusts deeper, creating more friction. I was right back on the edge again, seconds away from reaching oblivion.
I came again after one more well placed thrust, tightening around Alcide like a vice. I felt myself gush around him and my eyes rolled again. Alcide grunted in response, his hold on my hips tightening to the point it was almost painful. He turned suddenly carrying me with him withdrawing from me completely leaving me feeling empty, a displeased whimper coming from my mouth. One muscled arm slid across my kitchen counter, sending my dish strainer and toaster to the ground making me jump. He turned back to me, eyes glowing yellow, and grabbed me by the arm. I felt his large hand between my shoulder blades before my upper body was forced face down on the counter. I didn't even get an opportunity to protest before he was thrusting back into me, one hand on my shoulder, the other on my hip. I gripped the edges of the counter to keep myself steady as he picked up a tempo that hit all the right spots within me. I could hear Alcide grunting behind me, his breath coming out in heavy pants. His rhythm abruptly changed, it became more urgent, rougher, and needier. His thrusts became sporadic just as I felt the tingles of my orgasm about to explode, I pushed back against him, ready to come undone.
"Fuck," I heard him rumble behind me.
I felt him tense, a pleased guttural groan coming from his mouth as he spilled himself into me. I followed closely behind, my body tightening around him all over again. My body was still in the midst of the aftershocks when the weight of his body fell on top of mine. Neither of us moved for a long moment, we remained in the same position, still panting, his heart pounding against my back.
"I'm sorry," he said softly against my shoulder, his breath warm against my skin.
I frowned. "For what?"
"I was way too rough with you," he answered between pants. "I didn't hurt you did I?"
I huffed. "Not in a bad way."
"That was not how I pictured our first time. It was a lot sweeter and sensual in my head…and it involved a bed."
"Alcide, that's really sweet, but it was amazing," I answered with a contented sigh. "Bed or no bed," I added as an afterthought. "But if you really feel like it should have been in a bed I can give you a second chance…"
Alcide hesitated before he straightened behind me, withdrawing from me before turning me to face him. A smirk spread across his face and he pushed a stray lock of my hair out of my face. I felt myself blushing and a smile spread across my lips.
"A second chance huh?" he asked.
I nodded, feeling flirtatious. I felt heat rising within me again. "Do you want it or not?"
Alcide's smirk widened and he leaned forward kissing me softly. "I don't think I have wanted anything this much in a long time," he answered between kisses.
He grabbed me by the hips and lifted me up tossing me over his shoulder like I was a sack of potatoes. I was laughing again, a thrill rushing through me. He turned on his heel quickly and headed toward my bedroom.
