The truth could never die

And he could not bury it
deep enough
alive.

That loss was a fear he knew;
the shadows behind his eyes
he had accepted

And now, he had to look away
into the light.

If he could have cried for real
that night, he might have been spared
those later tears

Before he'd signed the Contract
of the Devil.
