Glinda held the Grimmerie in her arms as she left the room she shared with Elphaba in Nessa's home. She was walking down the hallway, and got to the stairs and descended them on her way to the library where she assumed Elphaba was. She walked carefully and quietly, as if someone would come up and jump her. She bit her bottom lip and hoped Elphaba didn't mind that she had picked up that book of magic that contained extremely dangerous and powerful spells. She was glad that she was unable to read it herself considering she was afraid of what she was ultimately capable of. She slowly opened the door to the library and took a shaky breath when she saw Elphaba looking through the books up high on a ladder. She swallowed, wanting to speak but afraid she'd startle her girlfriend; if she was her girlfriend. Glinda would like to think so. "Elphie?" she said in a small voice.
"Hey, Glinda," Elphaba smiled and climbed down the ladder. She frowned and asked, "Why do you have the Grimmerie?"
"I have a favor to ask," Glinda said, holding it close to her chest as if she was a nervous schoolgirl.
"What is it?" the green woman asked as she didn't want to let her temper scare the blonde. It was obvious she currently didn't have bad intentions, and she just looked so scared that Elphaba couldn't bring herself to scold her for taking such a dangerous book. She also wondered how Glinda even found it, but she decided not to ask such a question.
"I was wondering if you could find a spell in here for me," she started.
"I don't think that's such a good idea," Elphaba replied.
"No, I mean, find a spell for me so I can't use magic anymore," Glinda replied holding out the book. Elphaba slowly took it from her, keeping her brown eyes concentrated on blue ones.
"Why would you want to give up your magic?" Elphaba asked after a few minutes of silence.
"Because I don't want to hurt anyone anymore," Glinda admitted.
"Are you sure you want to do this?" Elphaba questioned.
"Yes," Glinda nodded. "I don't want to…murder again. And I don't want to run off onto a mountain like I did last time. I need to be controlled, and if I can't do it myself, you must, Elphie. Please."
"I'll see what I can do," Elphaba agreed.
"Thank you, Elphie," Glinda smiled. "I really don't want to hurt anyone, especially you. And I don't want to worry Nessa anymore, either. I'm a mess."
"Glinda-"
"Please, don't tell me that I'm not. I know I'm crazy. Honestly, I cannot wait to go get help from that doctor. Maybe all of this can come to an end," Glinda sighed. Elphaba put the Grimmerie on the table beside her before hugging Glinda. The shorter girl closed her eyes and leaned into the taller girl's chest.
"I'm going to find the spell for you," Elphaba said. She released Glinda from the hug and took a seat at the table and opened up the Grimmerie.
"Thank you, Elphie!" Glinda beamed.
"Why don't you go hang out with Nessa while I find something?"
"Nessa's in meetings all day," Glinda pouted. "I'll just go bother Boq."
"You do that," Elphaba laughed to herself as Glinda left the library without a care in the world. It was strange at how quickly her emotions would change. But then again, was she even talking to the real Glinda? Or was it something else she was talking to? Or was Glinda still Glinda and had a ton of different emotions coursing through her at once, making her believe she was somebody else due to the fact that her random moments of rage and depression scared her? Elphaba didn't know, and she doubted Glinda even knew herself.
Elphaba hated that she couldn't trust things that Glinda said. Just the other night, Glinda had a tantrum and screamed menacingly at Nessarose that she didn't want to eat dinner. When Nessa reminded her that she had skipped lunch and breakfast, Glinda had scowled at her, breaking a glass full of milk on the floor. Elphaba believed it was a control thing, but Nessa felt that it was something else, but she couldn't figure out exactly why Glinda would refuse to eat some days, but she'd happily eat three meals on other days.
The green skinned woman looked through the Grimmerie as she attempted to find something to make Glinda unable to use her magic. It made sense why she wanted this for herself, but for some reason, Elphaba felt uncomfortable doing this. After all, was it really Glinda she spoke with? The whole mental disorder thing was so confusing, even for her. She began to wish she took some psychology classes at Shiz despite the field lacking in material.
Eventually, she found a spell that wouldn't allow Glinda to use magic. She bookmarked the page before getting up to go find the blonde. It wasn't hard to find Glinda since she could hear her laughing somewhere outside since the windows were open. She knew she had to be in the garden, so Elphaba made her way towards there. Boq must have done something embarrassing considering he was blushing. "What's going on over here?" Elphaba jokingly asked.
"Nothing," Boq said quickly. "I'll see you guys later." Boq left as fast as he could and hid away inside the mansion.
"Seriously, what happened?"
"Oh, Boq just told me about one of his dreams about Nessa, so I described Nessa myself and he, you know, picturing that from what Nessa and I used to do, you know? So he got embarrassed and all flustered," Glinda explained. It was Elphaba's turn to blush as she was still uncomfortable about Nessa and Glinda's relationship. She knew for a fact the two hadn't done anything recently, especially since Elphaba's arrival, but she still wondered why her sister would do something of the sort as well as Glinda. Elphaba knew Glinda had this sickness, or whatever it was, but she couldn't stop thinking about why Nessarose would go along with Glinda's advances, obviously seeing there was something wrong.
"Anyway, I found a spell that will suppress your magic. However, it is most likely irreversible. Are you sure about this?" she asked, changing the subject. The blonde's laughter subsided.
"It's for the best," she said in all seriousness.
"I don't know if I can do this to you, Glinda. You love your magic."
"Not anymore. All it does it hurt people. What if I hurt you, next, Elphie?"
"Glinda…"
"What if…what if I hurt the doctor or the other patients at that place? Oh, don't look all shocked, Elphaba, I know exactly what's going to happen. It'll be in my best interest to stay in a…a crazy house with the doctor. But I'm prepared for that, but they may not be, so you have to do this. For me," Glinda said seriously. Elphaba looked into her blue eyes and knew that this was Glinda looking at her with all seriousness.
"Let me talk this over with Nessa, okay?"
"All right," Glinda nodded. "I will say this: I am done with magic. I have no use for it. I can't even do most spells, anyway. It's that stupid other person or…I don't even know…" Glinda shook her head. "All I can really do is travel by bubble, but you can always make a bubble for me, right Elphie?"
"Of course I can," Elphaba smiled, hugging Glinda with her free arm. Her smile faded into a frown, wondering if getting rid of Glinda's magic was the right thing to do. After all, it would be permanent.
