AN: Finally a new chapter up! This one is dedicated to Anna864 who was not only was the 50th reviewer, but helped me get my fingers to type up this chapter! Thanks deary!
Everyone was lying around, enjoying the cool night air. Macey and Nick were snuggled up together, Nick's arm slung around her shoulder. What a great couple. It had been so entertaining when they first met each other because they could barely stand the sight of each other. That eventually turned to love and they got married in secret last year with only a few of us there to witness the happy occasion. Macey's parents still had no idea that their daughter was married.
Liz and Jonas were sitting with Paige, pointing out the constellations in the beautiful night sky. What a perfect Kodak moment. Paige's long blonde hair stirred in the breeze, becoming tangled into the shrub behind her. Laughing, Liz untangled it and smiled down at her daughter. Jonas was holding Liz's hand, smiling down at her contentedly. The three of them looked so peaceful and content.
The Goode kids, along with Sophie and Elizabeth, were lying in the grass talking and laughing together. They had been the best of friends since they were little and would hopefully be as good of friends as the four of us were. They all got along very well and, with the exception of the pranks, were nice to each other.
"Mummy?" Michael's little hands tugged on my shirtsleeve.
"Yes honey?" I asked bending down towards my little boy.
"Lizzie and Sophie won't play wif me," he lisped, and I chuckled, scooping him up in my arms.
"It's okay Michael," I said ruffling his hair. "You can play with them tomorrow."
"Okay mummy," He yawned. "I'm tired."
"Okay honey." I kissed the top of his mop of curly brown hair as he snuggled into my lap and closed his big blue eyes.
Grant draped his arm over Michael and me. "You are such a good mother." He said, kissing me gently on the cheek.
"Remember the first time you told me I would be a good mother?" I asked him, laughing softly.
He chuckled. "How can I forget that? I almost had my head chopped off before I told you that."
"Bex!" Grant called into the apartment.
It had been about a year since Bex had become Mrs. Rebecca Newman, and the couple had just a bought a townhouse apartment in London because Bex was working in MI6. The apartment wasn't very spacious, but it was enough room for the two newlyweds.
"Bex?" Grant called out again, walking through the living room and peering into the tiny kitchen. "Bex, are you there?"
Grant went up the stairs and knocked on their bedroom door. "Bex? Honey?" He opened the door, revealing nothing and peered into the adjoining bathroom. Nothing. He walked through the bathroom and back into the hallway, pausing in front of their small home gym. He knocked quietly.
"Bex? Are you in there?"
Slowly, Grant opened the door and was met by a knife flying toward his face. He ducked, and when he stood back up, Bex was glaring at him, with another knife in her hand that was aimed at his head.
"Bex."
"Grant." Bex mocked him..
"Put the knife down. Please." Grant said taking a step forward.
"No." And with that, Bex hurled the knife at him.
He quickly shut the door, and heard a loud thump as the razor sharp knife embedded itself into the wood door. He took out his cell phone and quickly typed in Zach's phone number.
"Yo, this is Zach." Zach's voice boomed through the tiny speaker in Grant's phone.
"I need to talk to Cammie." Grant rasped out.
"How do you know she's with me?"
"You guys are always together! Now put her on the phone!" Grant raged.
"Fine, here she is." Grant could hear some of the muttered conversation between the two.
"Hi Grant," Cammie's voice rang out pleasantly. "What's up?"
"I need your help."
"With what? Just ask Bex for whatever you need."
"Bex just threw a knife at my head…twice."
"Oh jeez."
"Well what should I do?" Grant pleaded with her.
"Give her the phone and I'll try and talk to her." Cammie said, attempting to sooth Grant's anxieties.
"Okay."
Grant opened the door and called out, "Bex, Cammie is on the phone." And then proceeded to toss the phone into the room, hoping she would answer it.
He paced up and down the hall for a half hour, until Bex finally emerged from the room, phone in hand. Her face was tearstained, but a small smile lit up her face.
"Bex are you okay?" Grant said cautiously reaching out to her.
"I'm fine." Bex shifted from foot to foot. "I'm sorry I threw my knives at you."
Grant's eyes widened in surprise at the apology, "it's okay."
She drew in a breath slowly. "I have something to tell you too." She shifted again, biting her lip.
"Yes?" Grant prompted her.
"I…I…I'm pregnant." Bex said in a low voice.
"You're what?!" Grant said, astonished.
"I'm pregnant."
"Oh…okay…" Grant sank slowly to the floor.
Bex sat down next to him and put her hand on his arm. "Are you okay?"
"I'm going to be a dad." Grant said with a surprised look on his face. "I'm going to be a dad!" he broke into a huge smile.
"You will be a wonderful father," Bex smiled and kissed him gently on the cheek. "The very best."
"And you'll be a great mum." Grant kissed her softly and pulled her into his lap. "A truly wonderful mum"
I snapped out of my reverie and looked at my children. Sophie, who had gotten so much older and looked more like me every day; Elizabeth, who was a perfect blend of Grant and me and about to become a teenager. Little Michael was the baby of the family and a tiny replica of Grant. My family was happy and together, and I hoped we always would be.
"Happy?" Grant smiled at me, wrapping his arm around my shoulders.
"Of course," I replied, leaning into him.
"Good," Grant took Michael from me and settled him into his muscular arms, standing up. "I'm going to take the little guy inside and put him to bed."
I nodded in agreement and followed him inside, smiling at the beautiful memories I shared with my family.
