Piper's Pov:
Hmmm. What was that? I squint at the corner of the bush beside me, just as I'm getting into our Just Married car. I pause, and I lean over towards the bush. Is that black...hair? I gasp, realizing who it is. "Reyna!" I hiss. "What are you doing!"
She peeks out from around the bush, and whispers, "Surprise!"
"Wha?" I get cut off as I hear a gasp and a sob from Annabeth behind me. I look behind me, and see something wrapped around her torso. A vest, with tons of wires stuck to it. Oh my god. It's a bomb.
"I-I, just walked under this tree, and then this latched onto me. And, and, I think it was all set up," she whispers, just as Percy charges into Reyna.
"How dare you!" he growls at her, fury in his eyes.
"It, it wasn't meant for Annabeth. It was meant for her," Reyna spits out the last word with obvious revilement in her voice, and in her eyes.
This time Jason comes up beside me. "You little piece of worthless crap!"
I but in, and demand, "Get this vest off of Annabeth right now!"
She looks up at me, and says,"You really think I would if I knew how to? Why would I want to anyways? I don't care about Annabeth."
"Well, I'm calling the Bomb Squad," Annabeth said.
"Oh no you don't!" Reyna shouts, pulling out a gun from under her jacket. I can see her finger tense, about to pull the trigger, and I dive in front of Annabeth. I cry out as I feel the bullet enter my torso. I crumple to the ground, and Jason rushes over to me.
"Oh my god, no no no no no. Why?!" he shouts. He jumps up and hits Reyna square in the jaw, and sends her flying. Meanwhile, I'm in a state of utter calm. Even when I see in slow motion Reyna flick that switch, and a little flicker of flame blossoming out from the bomb vest on Annabeth. The flame spreads quickly, and I fly up from the force. I can't even see Annabeth anymore, and I suddenly think about my dress. I've never been into silk, jewels, and flowers, but as i look down on my dress, I see a new little blossom of red on my dress. It's taken up most of the upper part of my dress now. I'm still in my state of strange calm, while everything around me is still going in slow motion, the flames enveloping me but I think I can see a hand through the flame. Jason. I reach forward and take it in my own, feeling a new sense of security. I close my eyes and let the heat around me take me away.
