AN: And here is the lighter chapter I told you all about. The song is Shut Up And Smile by Bowling For Soup. Hope you enjoy their craziness!
Disclaimer: Hetalia belongs to Hidekaz Himaruya and the song belongs to Bowling For Soup.
The meeting room was awfully quiet, despite the conversations going on. Everyone was here, or most everyone. They had started not long ago, but things had gone off topic extremely quickly.
Matthew looked around, curious. Alfred wasn't here yet and when he was late… well even then he was usually here by this time if he had woken up late. He took out his phone, quickly skimming over his messages. He didn't have any new ones.
That was odd. Al usually texted him when he was coming.
A hand tapped his shoulder. The Canadian turned around, seeing familiar red eyes. "Hi Gilbert."
Said nation, or ex-nation, sat down in the chair next to him, smiling as he usually did. "Guten morgen birdie."
Matthew knew that Ludwig had let Gil stay after last week and… no one had really said anything about it since. They had been shocked, yes, and he was almost sure the German brothers had said something to each other regarding it…. but other than that it had been quiet.
No one had said anything about singing yet, either. He wasn't sure if they were waiting or just didn't know what to sing.
Gilbert looked around the room, like he had just noticed something. "Hey, where's your brother?"
He shrugged. "I don't know. He hasn't texted or called me. He might just be sleeping through this all together."
The other nodded, though he looked slightly distracted. "Yeah…" He glanced at other nations and then behind him. "Feli isn't here either."
Matthew's eyebrows furrowed and he looked around as well. After a moment he saw that his friend was right. "Yeah." That was unusual. Feliciano wasn't one to skip out on meetings, or be very late to them. He thought that one of the main reasons was that Ludwig would get on to him. "Have you heard anything?"
Gilbert shook his head. "Nein."
They were silent for a moment, listening to the other's talk. Ludwig was waiting, maybe seeing if they would eventually stop.
Something hit the Canadian's ears. He sat straighter, trying to find the source of it.
"What?" Gilbert asked, eyebrow's furrowing.
Matthew shrugged, waiting. A moment later it came again, sounding closer. It was almost like… banging? Footsteps? It sounded like it was coming from-
The doors burst open. Everyone jumped, those facing away from the door turning towards it. For a small moment they saw nothing and heard nothing. Then Alfred and Feliciano came stumbling in. They were nearly tripping and… Matthew stared briefly. Were they drunk?
His suspicions were confirmed when, after looking at the staring nations, the two burst out laughing. They were wobbly, and their eyes looked glossed over. It surprised him because… It took a lot to get his brother drunk. How much had he had?
Well... at least it wasn't at the point, or maybe like those times, when Alfred got really upset when he was drunk. It was never good when that happened.
Ludwig tried to say something, stuttering, "W-what are-"
Before he could even finish asking the question, Feliciano spoke. He leaned against a nearby wall and his voice was slurred. "W-wait, Luddy, can we… can we…" He trailed off, looking at Alfred confusedly. "What was I supposed to ask…?"
Alfred shrugged happily. "I don't know." He chirped. After a brief moment of gazing into space, his eyes lit up slightly. "Oh… We were um…" He sloppily reached into his pocked. "Phone… Song."
Feli nodded, turning a little towards Ludwig once more. He laughed, or maybe it was a giggle. "Can we...?"
The German opened his mouth to respond, but before anything could leave his mouth the two nations cheered, like he had wholeheartedly agreed.
Gilbert laughed softly. "I have to record this." He took out his phone and set up the video, the other nations in the room watching in amusement, curiosity, or disbelief around them. Alfred fumbled with his phone. For a little he seemed to completely forget how to operate the device, but then got the hang of it. He pressed play and as music filled the room he looked around confusedly.
He had no idea where to put his phone. When a few seconds passed and he realized that there was nothing solid next to him but a wall, he merely shrugged and set his device none too carefully on the ground.
The music had started with a paino, but when the guitar came in both of them started laughing again. They turned towards each other and Alfred began loudly, somehow still using a decent singing voice,
"It's not the end of the world-"
Feliciano was grinning. He picked up right after, answering, "In fact it's not even the end of the summer-"
"But thank god the TV is on, cuz-"
They joined. Matthew wondered how they could still do this while intoxicated. "There's no way we could know-"
Feliciano continued as his brother dropped out. "Anything that's going down-"
"-Or how we're supposed to be feeling about it-"
Feli looked at them taking his hands off of the wall and spreading them out. "I can't tell you how much I wish we could-"
Alfred joined, trying not to laugh while doing so, "-shut up and smile… yeah."
They made themselves move away from the wall. They wobbled, but for a moment they acted out the lyrics, trying to walk while moving their arms like they were rowing. It didn't fail to make some of them smile or laugh. "Sail around the world and tell them all to keep singing it, la la la la la."
The two looked out at them. "All we need's a harmony and we'll covince the sing, la la la la la." They were slowly and clumsily migrating towards the podium.
Alfred grinned. "Throw your arms around someone-" He did so, putting one arm around Feli's shoulder while the Italian echoed the line. Matthew thought he saw Lovino's head hit the table and tried not to laugh. "Maybe spread a little love…"
They laughed. Alfred sang, "I know it sounds a little dumb-"
Feliciano looked like he was thinking. "Or maybe I'm a little drunk."
The American raised his free hand in the air, like he was victorious. "But all we need it some-" Feli joined him.
"-ice cream and a hug!"
There was a break and the two made their way to the podium, tripping and laughing all the way there. Ludwig was too shocked to stop them and Feli leaned forward, almost near the microphone.
"Take a good look around-"
Alfred shrugged slightly, looking almost unsure of what he was singing. "-does life really suck? Are we just complaining?" He paused and looked at the microphone. "I hope that this mic is on…"
Feliciano tapped it lightly and they heard his loud words of, "Testing one, two…"
Seeing that it was indeed working the two looked at each other like the most brilliant words in the history of history were coming out there mouths. They grinned. "Cuz I'm on a role here!"
Alfred looked out at them. "I hope this is makin' some sense."
Feli nodded, throwing his hands in the air, but then having to bring them down quickly to latch onto the podium for support. "I hope that you'll throw up your hands and sing it!"
The American smiled crookedly at them, meeting his eyes. He could tell Alfred was going to have a huge hangover tomorrow. "And tell all the haters that-"
The two joined again. "-they should just shut up and smile… yeah."
They started with the chorus again, but this time they stayed still, or as still as a drunken nation could be. They were both smiling like idiots. "Sail around the world and tell them all to keep singing it, la la la la la… all we needs a harmony and we'll convince the world to sing, la la la la la…"
"Throw your arms around someone…" Feliciano was the one who sang it this time, though he repeated Alfred's earlier action. Al echoed him.
"Maybe spread a little love…" They sang.
"I know it sound a little dumb-" Feli went on.
"Or maybe I'm a little drunk." Alfred phrased it almost like a question, shrugging like he couldn't help it.
"But all we need is some-" They joined. "-Ice cream…"
The music suddenly changed, getting a new beat. Both nations burst out laughing when they heard it, leaning on the podium.
Feliciano sang, a little slower than before, "All we need is love and beer-"
"-And old school metal and holiday cheer…"
They joined for a moment, there voices a little off tune. "To be happy…"
Alfred continued, "With someone near, like Ben and Jerry…"
Feliciano's expression changed in the flash of a second. It became resentful and dejected. He stared at the wooden podium, singing, his voice matching his expression, "To hold you close and pretend that they care…"
His brother elbowed the Italian, smiling at him. Feli's mood brightened again, becoming as happy as he had been a few moments before. The two sang together, "Can't we all just, get along now… We found something that we all have in common now. We can hold hands-" They held their hands up like one was announcing the victor in a fighting match. "Do keg stands."
They made faces like they were thinking, Alfred looking up. "Water skiing sounds great to me now…" They carried it out.
Alfred met his eyes, though they weren't entirely focused on him. Did his twin want him to sing something…?
Gilbert elbowed him slightly, whispering, "Follow my lead." He was still recording, the phone facing the podium.
The other sang the very beginning of the words and he knew what they were after hearing them already. They smiled, looking at the two drunken idiots at the podium. "Sail around the world and tell them all to keep singing it."
Alfred and Feli were absolutely beaming. They sang louder, "La la la la la... All we needs a harmony, and we'll convince the world to sing… la la la la la la."
They repeated their actions from earlier. "Throw your arms around someone. Maybe spread a little love…"
"I know it sounds a little dumb-" The two met their eyes.
Gilbert and Matthew grinned, singing louder this time, though Gil was a little louder than himself. "Or maybe we're a little drunk!"
Alfred raised his arm again. "All we need is some ice cream and a hug!" He was drunk, but he said it like it was all they needed to end their problems.
More familiar music began playing, from earlier, and Matthew was trying not to laugh when he joined gil in singing, "All we need is love and beer."
Alfred and Feli repeated their list of things they needed to help the world.
The two sober nations kept repeating, waiting for the song to end, though a few others joined with them. Those nations were namely Francis, Antonio, and Jett. The Italian and American eventually joined them, though, and they repeated until the music ended and the two trailed off and practically fell onto the floor from laughter and their own inability to stay upright.
Ludwig hit pause on the device for them, looking very unsure of what to make of the scene in front of him. He slowly turned towards the Canadian, motioning towards his brother who was now on the ground.
Matthew nodded and stood, pausing for a moment before he walked past Gilbert. "Send that to me." He whispered, though he knew Al couldn't hear him. He would have to show it to Alfred later. After his friend nodded he walked until he was standing in front of his brother. He bent down, tapping Alfred on the shoulder. "Hey… Al. Alfred."
Alfred sat up, managing through his laughs, "W-wh-what?"
The older twin rolled his eyes and helped his brother up. He glanced at Ludwig, silently telling him that he most likely wouldn't be back for the rest of the meeting. The German nodded, already trying to get Feli up, Lovino next to him.
Alfred leaned on him and he had to try not to fall over from the suddenness of it. His brother slurred, "Dude, that was so cool… you guys sang with us…"
He laughed softly, shaking his head. "Yeah… we did." He smiled. "You two couldn't have picked a better song to be drunk with."
Alfred laughed.
He couldn't stop himself from saying in an almost teasing voice, "You won't be so happy tomorrow, Al."
AN: I don't know how they got so drunk... I guess that's another story. But yeah... Let me know what you think. Thank you for reading!
