A couple weeks later, Beck was preparing to move out his apartment and into his mothers' house. His place was a mess with boxes and clothes everywhere. A week ago, Beck had taken the tots with him to the doctor for a DNA test. He didn't tell them about it though, it was a quick swab test in their mouths. The results were finally sent to Beck, he and his mother were nervous to view it.

Carolyn: Beck, no matter what the results are, I will always love those sweet children.

Beck: I will too mom, but I need to know.

Beck looked into the living room, the tots were all sleep, three on the couch, two on the floor. They had fallen asleep while watching TV.

Carolyn: What happens if they're not yours Beck?

Beck: I have to do the right thing.

Carolyn: Return them to Jade?

Beck: No, heck no. Turn them over to the state.

Carolyn held her head with her hand, she sighed.

Carolyn: Please don't do that to them Beck.

Beck grabbed the envelope sent to him, hiding the results inside.

Beck: I will hate Jade forever, if they're not mine.

Carolyn: Open it and see.

Beck looked at the envelope, he held it to his mother.

Beck: I can't do it, you look.

Beck's mother took the envelope, she quickly opened it taking out the letter to view the results. Beck tried reading his mother's stale facial expression.

Beck: What does it say?

Beck's mother didn't answer, she read the letter, she looked up to him.

Carolyn: They're not yours, Beck.

Beck: What? Let me see.

Beck took the letter from his mother, curiously reading it, he looked up to see her smiling.

Beck: Mom, please don't joke like that.

Carolyn: Don't trick my grandbabies into getting a DNA test, ever again.

Beck: I won't have to.

Beck smiled, his mother hugged him, she kissed his cheek.

Carolyn: I knew they were yours all along.

Beck: I just needed some proof.

Carolyn: They have your eyes, that's enough proof.

Beck: I'm gonna text Jade and tell her the news.

Beck walked away to his bedroom, squeezing through boxes and stepping over furniture and clothes, he walked into his room to get his phone. Beck hasn't talked to Jade since he took the tots' things from her house.

To: Jade

From: Beck

Hey, just wanted to tell you, I got a DNA test. They're mine.

Beck sat his phone down waiting for Jade's reply. He sat staring at it waiting, nothing.

Carolyn: Beck, honey!

Beck's mother walked into his room, he looked over at her.

Carolyn: Did you still want me to cook dinner for you?

Beck: Uh, yeah, if you want to.

Carolyn: I'll make you're favorite, spaghetti and meatballs.

Beck: Thanks mom.

Beck smiled at his mother as she left his room. His phone vibrated on the bed next him, he quickly picked it up.

To: Beck

From: Jade

Wow. Congratulations -_-

Beck found himself smiling at Jade's response. He remembered one of the things he loved about her, her sarcasm.

To: Jade

From: Beck

I had to be sure. Sorry for getting mad at you.

Beck waited for Jade to text him back, she didn't. Five minutes passed and Beck picked up his phone again.

I'm taking the kids to chuck e cheese tomorrow, want to come?

Less than a minute after sending the text, Beck's phone vibrated.

Beck sighed as he replied to Jade's text.

I have time off. They ask about you every day.

Beck's heart pounded as he waited for Jade's reply, it seemed like forever. His phone vibrated, he read the text.

They next day, late in the morning, Jade stood in the mirror putting on eye liner. Her boyfriend Zeek walked into the living room.

Zeek: You going somewhere?

Jade: Yeah.

Zeek: What did I tell you about leaving the house without telling me?

Jade: I told you already, I'm going with Beck to spend time with my kids.

Zeek scoffed as he sat on the couch.

Zeek: The brats? I thought you got rid of them.

Jade ignored Zeek, she finished with the eye liner and grabbed her shoes putting them on.

Zeek: You sure are getting prettied up for the loser teacher.

Jade: No I'm not. I'm just trying to look my best.

Zeek: The only man you need to look good for is me.

Jade: Are you staying here or going home?

Zeek: I'm staying here. You trying to get rid of me?

Jade: No, I was just asking.

Jade heard a horn beep from outside, she peeked out the sheet covered window.

Jade: That's him. I'll be back later.

Jade leaned in to kiss Zeek, he turned his head away.

Jade: Okay then, bye.
