Okay, I'm back. This chapter will have a whole bunch of medical stuff, but don't worry, I got all this from research, so ya. It should be actually pretty accurate. Yeah, so, here we go.
Annabeth's Pov:
I open the doors to the mostly empty hospital with only one hand, since Willow's on my hip. I look around for Sylvia, and then I see her sitting in one of the chairs on the wall, looking wide awake.
"Hey Annabeth! So, come on over here," she says, patting the chair next to her.
I walk over to the chair and sit down, placing Willow on my lap. "So, what do you think is up with Willow?"
"Okay, so, in preemies born before 32 weeks, Willow and Charlie being about 28 weeks, there's gonna be a lot of health problems. Of course you know that, but one common one is Retinopathy of Prematurity, aka ROP. So, ROP, what it is, is an abnormal growth of blood cells in the eyes. That results in loss of vision."
I choke, and Willow turns her head toward the sound. "Hey, it's okay Willow," I croon, and then I turn to Sylvia with tears in my eyes. "What do you mean vision loss? Willow's going to be blind for her life?" I say, my voice thick with tears. Then I swallow, and I try to compose myself for Willow's sake. I will still love her, always, no matter what happens. Then Sylvia says something, but I don't quite hear it, my senses all focused on Willow. "What? Sorry, I didn't catch what you said."
"I said that in most cases, it's only temporary and will heal itself. Willow should be fine, Annabeth."
"Oh, wait, you're serious?"
"Yeah, I'm serious. I've seen this a billion times before, and it always ends up turning out fine."
"Oh Gosh. Thank you, Sylvia. Thank you so much."
Eh, short, but intense, right? So ya, see you next update!
