A/N: SORRY THIS TOOK SO LONG! I was trying so hard to get these stupid thoughts out of my head but my muse hates me ;_; I was trying to make this longer, but that might take another few months, and I really want to post this chapter and move on with my life.

Queen Selenity looked over her kingdom with a warm smile on her face. She lived a long time, and fought for, in, and with her country several times. Each time was trying, but no battle was worse than the one she waged against Chaos.

From birth, Selenity IV was raised to be a queen. Classes, balls, meetings, training sessions, diplomatic travels; she was no stranger to any of them. Unlike her daughter, she was disciplined, and loved doing the things that were required of a princess.

Everything except love and war.

At the age of 15, Selenty met the love of her life, Kadir. He was tall and incomparably strong with a temper to strike fear in everyone that met him. He was five years younger than Selenity, but even then was the leader of Selenity's guard.

He held the position for a year before he met the princess he was in charge of protecting. Selenity smiled to herself at the memory.

Kadir was tall even then; standing well about her petite five foot frame. At 10, he stood at least 5'7". He had the build of a body builder, with long black hair. Much like a samurai, he handled a sword despite being adept with magic. No one was sure where his magic came from, since he wasn't a known royal, but in times of distress he was known to get colder and even project ice.

Yearly, the royal family met with the highest military officials of each division. This was the boy's first meeting with the royal family, but he was well prepared for the meeting. His words conveyed his power and how well he knew his position. Selenity was immediately taken with the boy. His gray eyes were piercing yet kind. His long hair was pulled back into a low ponytail; his mature profile conveying no emotion despite the slight shaking of his hands. He was nervous, but a single gaze upon his countenance removed any doubt about his ability from the young princess.

When the meeting was over, Selenity was able to speak to the leader of her personal guard. Her heart melted for him instantly. While he was professional and composed in front of her parents, he was nervous, shy even, around Selenity. He blushed whenever she touched him and averted his eyes constantly during their conversation.

In the course of a month, the two were sure that they would wed as soon as they were old enough.

There was one problem: his twin brother, Kaffir. He looked identical to Kadir, was equally as powerful, and equally as taken with the princess. Kaffir, much like his brother, became a leader to the royal family's personal guard. Specifically, he was in charge of protecting the king. The position was equally as important as Kadir's, but wasn't as revered.

Because of this, Kaffir was immensely jealous of his brother and his constant proximity to the princess. They fought for the princess once, but Selenity ended the fight in tears, saying that she would never feel for Kaffir what she felt for Kadir. For the first time, they saw that Kaffir also had magic, although of a different nature than Kadir.

Kaffir controlled darkness.

Once Kaffir's power was told to the king, he immediately had the boy locked away in solitary confinement. There was history of an ancient one with the power of darkness; the story was as gruesome as it was saddening.

Kaffir spent that year questionably silent. He didn't move, eat, sleep, speak, his hair didn't even grow. The guards around him became complacent and relaxed, considering the boy as good as dead.

Until he broke free.

The guards immediately outside of his cell were killed before they could make a sound. Quickly, the eleven year old boy strode through the dungeon, killing the guards and freeing inmates as he went. He had no concern for the noise the inmates made as he released them; it would bring the people he was looking for.

Something was wrong; Kadir knew it. He ran to the dungeon, fearing the worst. When he got to the top step, he faced his fear. Not stopping to ask questions or draw his sword, he sent a large shard of ice through his brother's right shoulder. Kaffir laughed as the ice melted into a pool of water by his foot. He took a few more steps forward and quickly grabbed the hand Kadir had on his sword. He leaned forward and whispered into his brother's ear, seeing his primary goal over the other boy's shoulder.

Selenity heard the commotion and teleported to the scene, but was unable to do anything to save her lover. Before her eyes, Kaffir lifted Kadir by his neck, and held him in the air until Kadir relaxed. Selenity thought he was dead, but before she could say a word, Kadir was free. Kaffir disappeared and Kadir followed, leaving Selenity alone.

The two were noticed outside in the courtyard, sparring violently. Kadir was bleeding in several places, but Kaffir seemed to suffer no damage. Selenity again teleported to the area, gasping loudly when she saw the state of the fight. Kadir wasn't going to live if someone didn't intervene.

Selenity transformed and moved on instinct. She ran in between the boys and lifted the long pink and golden scepter in her hand. She stretched it out before her and absorbed the attack being throw at Kadir. She screamed and lunged at Kaffir, hitting him hard in the ribs with her scepter. Before he could move to recover, she again raised her weapon above her head, this time gathering magic energy. Her attack pierced the boy's chest, but she knew it wouldn't be enough to kill him. She didn't have the heart to do it.

Instead, knowing that letting him remain on the moon would be impossible, she lunged through his wound with her scepter, treating it as a sword, and shot out another blast of energy.

Bleeding copiously, Kaffir fell to the ground, heaving. Politically, the boy's fate was Selenity's mother's decision, but Selenity raised her scepter once more and banished him to the darkest edge of the universe, bound in a small cage and trapped in his most vulnerable, human form.

A meeting was held shortly after his banishment. The princess felt justified in her actions, and told the highest council in the kingdom the same. Selenity could tell from one look in the boy's eyes, he was no longer human. Not only his eyes had changed, his healing capabilities and speed had more than tripled. According to legend, this could only mean one thing. The boy formerly known as Kaffir, had now become Chaos.

This reasoning explained his magic, but opened the door for another important question: what about Kadir? The boys were identical twins, had an equal level of sparring ability, and both had inexplicable magic power. Kaffir's had been explained with a negative result; what did that mean about Kadir's power? Was Chaos split between the boys? Or was Kadir's magic a side effect of sharing the womb with Kaffir? There was no way to know.

For the sake of the princess' safety, the council decided that Kadir would be transferred to the Earth scouting team. He was still a soldier, but his contact with Selenity would be limited at best. Regardless, he performed well and was promoted to the top quickly.

Not long after Kadir was transferred, Selenity's guardians began to arrive. Each of them spent their tenth year in the castle with Selenity. In order of age was Princess of Uranus and Princess of Neptune simultaneously, Princess of Mars, Princess of Venus, Princess of Jupiter and Princess of Mercury. Over the course of ten years they each became full-fledged senshi for Princess Selenity.

Selenity, being much older than her senshi, enjoyed watching them grow and become women; especially interesting was the relationship between Mars and Venus. Much like their daughters, they were headstrong and fought almost constantly. Well, when they weren't in bed with each other.

The other senshi were pretty casual in their relationships with each other, despite being as temperamental and hot-headed as their children.

Before long, it came time for each of the senshi and the princess to marry. Mars, being completely stricken with Venus, had a hard time accepting the Venusian's decision to marry a man and live as a heterosexual queen.

Selenity once questioned Venus about her decision, wondering why she would break her senshi's heart, but Venus' reasoning was indisputable: interracial couples were not unheard of in the Moon Kingdom, nor were lesbian couples, but the two were not only senshi, they were the only heir to the throne for their respective kingdoms. A marriage between them would mean one of them would have to give up their throne, and neither was willing to do so. It would be impossible to govern a kingdom in absence, and it would be impossible to maintain a marriage while living on different sides of the solar system. Besides, they had a requirement for them to each have an heir of their own. That would not be impossible, but a Martian heir couldn't be raised on Venus, nor could a Venusian heir be raised on Mars.

As soon as Mars realized that she wasn't going to change Venus' mind, she went rogue. She returned to Mars and didn't visit the Moon again until well after Rei was born.

As for Selenity, she knew who she wanted to marry, but gaining her parents approval proved impossible. Instead, she would sneak to the Earth when she knew Kadir was on patrol, spending as much time with him as she could before one of her senshi would drag her back to the Moon.

Before long, she got caught. Her parents thought it would be best to behead Kadir before he was able to corrupt Selenity further, but instead, he was permanently banished to the Earth and Selenity was forbidden to ever return.

Not long after that, Selenity discovered that she was pregnant.

Selenity's pregnancy caused few complications: she was more than capable of ascending to the throne at any time, and the same could be said for her personal senshi. Within a century, the previous generation had died out and Selenity and her senshi became queens, each with at least one child.

Now, she left the protecting of her kingdom to it's many princesses. Her blue eyes fell to the courtyard where Minako and Rei were talking with Jadeite.

"They still have much to learn, but hopefully war won't fall on their heads in the process." Selenity whispered to herself.

Far, far away, Chaos grinned to himself. It was almost time for him to break free.

A/N: Goodness, that was the most difficult thing I've written since the last time I had to do a research paper. I'm trying not to give up on this story but... *angry rant*. Anyway, I'll try to update before the end of the year (no promises :P). Let me know what you think ^_^
