Chapter 65

Leifang walked down the hallway from her music class, pulling the strap of her handbag over her shoulder and heading towards the exit. She was in an excellent mood today. Professor Neuhaus had been very open with his praises and she felt that her piano skills were improving by the day. He also hinted at something that he wanted to discuss with her before the semester ended and they would all go to enjoy their well earned break.

But she had no time to wonder what he could want, since today would be a busy day.

The weeks that had passed had been pretty busy for Hitomi and Leifang. A few days after agreeing to move in with her girlfriend, the Chinese had already looked for a buyer for her apartment. It hadn't taken long and not even three weeks later someone had bought it.

In that time the couple had gone and created a savings account where Leifang would store the money she made with the apartment with the intent of using it only for emergencies, much like Hitomi was doing with her own.

Her heels clicked with every footstep on the small steps as she exited the building and made her way off the campus. Leifang checked how much time she had and sped up her pace knowing that the bus was arriving shortly.

Good thing she did, otherwise she wouldn't have caught it. As soon as she got off the bus she headed towards the German's, soon theirs, apartment. Arriving there she could already see the small truck parking in the front and as she got closer she saw Hitomi carrying a box out of the back.

Since Hitomi didn't have so many classes today she had volunteered to get started on moving her things so that they wouldn't need to wait. Her eyes lit up as she spotted Leifang approaching.

"Hi sweetie." she greeted her and gave her a small peck on the lips. "You arrived just in time, we were just getting started."

After saying that she made room for Sven and Tim as they carried some of her heavier possessions out of the truck.

"Hey, you two." Leifang greeted them, earning a "Hi." from Tim and a nod from Sven.

"Move it, Riedel, this thing is heavy." Sven complained.

"Lightweight." Tim just commented and they started to carry it to the front door. As they started to go up the stairs Viktor passed them and walked over to Leifang and Hitomi.

"Hiya." he said and held up his hand before brushing some sweat from his brow. "Man, sure is hot today."

"A little bit." Leifang said and fanned her face with her hand. "Thanks for helping us out."

"No sweat, really. And hey, we'll be neighbors after this. Which reminds me, try to keep it down when you're gonna do it, the walls can be pretty thin." he said jokingly.

"If you've got time to joke," Hitomi placed the box in his hands. "You have time to carry."

Making a grimace he asked. "Now why am I doing this again?"

"Because," Hitomi began.

"You're such a nice guy." Leifang finished and they both gave him a small kiss on the cheek.

"Yeah yeah, that's me. The eternal chump." he said. "Way too nice for my own good."

Shaking his head mockingly he started to carry the box towards the building. The couple looked at each other and burst into laughter.

"Well then," Hitomi said after their laughter subsided. "Let's get to work."

She helped Leifang into the truck and they walked over to the small sofa. While Hitomi already had one, they figured it would be a good idea to keep this one in case they ever had a visitor or two.

"Grab that end." Hitomi said and went to the other. Leifang placed her hands so that she could lift it the best way.

"Alright. One, two, three." together they lifted the sofa easily enough and made their way to the building, with Leifang going first. On their way up they made room for Tim and Sven.

"The wardrobe's next?" Tim asked.

"Yeah, after that it's mostly clothes and some small stuff." Hitomi said.

"Alright. Come on Sven, and don't gimme that 'I'm beat' routine again, you promised to help and you will." he said and dragged the lanky guy with him.

"Okay okay, couldn't have foreseen that we had to carry so much. And of course Hager's letting us carry all the heavy stuff."

"Say what?!" Viktor said as he came down the stairs. "Oh, Hager's gonna make you swallow those words. I'll show you what I got."

The two girls watched as the three guys made their way down the stairs. They looked at each other and shook their heads. "Men." they both said.

Without much of a problem they carried the piece of furniture into the apartment.

"Where to?" Leifang asked.

"Let's just put it next to mine for now. We can rearrange everything when we're done." Hitomi said and they placed it where she pointed.

"Well the worst is over." Hitomi said and looked around the place.

"There's still some stuff missing." Leifang said after looking through all the boxes. "But nothing we need the truck for. We can just pick it up over the rest of the week."

"Good, we only have it for an hour or so. Tim needs to get it back to his father." they walked out and down the stairs and could already hear the guys as they drudged themselves with the wardrobe. Looking around the corner Hitomi saw that they had placed it on the stairs for a moment, Tim having his arms crossed in front of his chest and Viktor looking like he was nearly collapsing.

"So much for showing him who's boss, huh?" Tim asked.

"Hey at least," Viktor was rubbing his hands. "We managed it so far."

"Yeah, halfway up." the male nurse said. "Unless you manage it the whole way you don't get bragging rights."

"What's wrong guys?" Hitomi asked as they came down the stairs.

"Vik here got a little overconfident and, well here we are."

"Aw, come on." Hitomi said, rolled her eyes and pushed Viktor gently to the side, kneeling down to put her hands under the wardrobe. "Tim."

"Heh, at last someone with muscles in their arms." he said and they lifted it, carrying it all the way up.

"Damn," Viktor whistled. "That girl's a downright monster sometimes. A head smaller than me too."

Leifang turned to look at him and smiled. "That's what a lifetime of training does. So how about we get the rest?"

"Sounds good to me." Viktor said and they made their way down.

After having carried everything into the apartment all of them gathered in the living room and sat down on the sofas while Hitomi went into the kitchen to get them something refreshing to drink.

While the waited Viktor tried his luck as indoor-designer. "You know, that corner over there would be perfect for a stripper pole."

"I think that's more of a Tina thing." Leifang commented offhandedly.

"Well I didn't say-what?"

Leifang looked at him, her face completely neutral. "Didn't Hitomi ever tell you about that one time on Zack Island where Tina did a strip show while being a little drunk?"

"Tina...as in Tina Armstrong, that wrestler chick?"

Leifang nodded. "Bass Armstrong's daughter."

"Goddamn it. Why do girls get all the fun?"

"It's like in that song, 'Girls just want to have fun.'" she said teasingly.

"Who wants to have fun?" Hitomi asked as she came back, a tray with drinks for everyone on it in her hands.

"Vik just got told, again." Tim said and accepted a glass. "Thanks. Gonna take the truck back after this though."

After having handed everyone their drink Hitomi placed the tray on the table, took her own drink and sat down besides Leifang.

"Do you guys have anything planned this evening?" Hitomi asked, taking a sip from her drink as she did so.

"Nope." Viktor said.

Tim and Sven didn't have anything planned either.

"I was thinking we could go and celebrate a little?"

"That's a great idea." Leifang smiled and placed her hand of top of Hitomi's.

The guys looked at each other, shrugged and nodded.

"Sure why not, we're game." Viktor said.

"Great. So let's meet here around eight."

After that the guys left and Hitomi and Leifang were left alone to their own devices.

"So, want to unpack?" Hitomi asked with a smile.

"Hmm..." she thought about it for a moment, then looked at Hitomi. "No. Let's wait until later."

Leifang circled her arms around her girlfriend's neck and pulled herself closer to her. "Why don't we relax a little for now?"

"Relax?" The German placed her hands on the other girl's waist. "I can do that."

"Good." and their lips met.

"Answer me this Vik," Hitomi said as the five of them were sitting in the corner of the very same bar that had witnessed the German's first, and hopefully last, bar brawl. Luckily the owner was an understanding person and just accepted Hitomi's apology for the incident. "Why didn't you invite Marina?"

The young man chocked on the drink he was currently drinking and started to cough wildly. Sven was so kind to slap him on the back while Tim just chuckled away and Leifang hid her grin behind the glass she was holding.

"The fuck?" Viktor exclaimed after finally claiming down. "Where did that come from?"

"Well she's your girlfriend again, isn't she?"

"Why would you think that?!"

Hitomi just cocked an eyebrow as if to say "Really?"

Viktor just looked at her for a moment, rolled his eyes, and finally admitted. "Yeah, we are together again."

"Ha, I knew it!" Hitomi turned to the other two guys, holding her hand out, palm facing upward. "Pay up, boys."

"You had a bet going on?!" Viktor turned to Leifang. "Did you know about this?"

Leifang just shook her head, watching as Hitomi collected the money and, stifling a laugh, said. "No idea, honestly."

Viktor just let out a sigh and slumped into his seat. "Oh well, someone has to be the butt monkey here I guess. At least I can take it, unlike certain other persons."

While he said that he glanced at Sven from the corner of his eyes, who shrugged and took another sip. "And for your information, Hit-girl, we aren't attached at the hip, so we sometimes do things without the other one."

He grinned. "After all, we already have one inseparable couple here. One that just took another big step in their relationship."

Hitomi and Leifang looked at each other and interlaced their fingers.

"Well I wish you two the best of luck and really hope you keep it down when you're having an argument, because I'm the poor sod who has to live across the hall from them." he chuckled. "So no fighting over cabbages or I'll have the cops knock down your door."

That earned him a small round of laughter.

"And I want to apologize once more for how much of a bad start we had, Leifang. I know we already have made peace on that, but I think it's only appropriate now that we're neighbors. So if you ever need anything, just ask." he said. "Just don't expect any salt or bread from me!" he joked.

"Thanks. You've become a good friend over the time I've been here now, so it means a lot to hear that, and I want to apologize too." she looked at Hitomi and grinned. "So that she actually gets to hear it too."

The girl in questions chuckled. "Aww, don't go out of your way just for my sake."

"You know what?" Tim cut in. "Next round's on me."

"Hear hear." they all raised their glasses. Hitomi glanced at towards Leifang then down to their still connected hands. She pulled the Chinese's hand towards her mouth and gave it a gentle kiss.

"Love ya." she mouthed towards her, earning herself that beautiful smile that only she possessed.

Eh I'm not really satisfied with this chapter to be honest. I think someday I'm gonna come back and rewrite this one until I'm 100% satisfied. Oh well see ya all next week.
