Chapter 24

The door to the back room in the clinic busted open to reveal a very lifeless looking Aria. She slowly walked into the room not really paying any mind to the boys. Stiles turned to Scott with a confused look on his face. Both Scott nor Stiles knew how to react to their usually hard-ass, but funny persona that made up their best friend. When she finally stopped at the metal examination table and looked up at the boys did they finally speak.

"What happened to you?" Stiles asked with a astonished look on his face.

"Your eyes are a totally different color." Scott said as he moved forward. It worried him to see his best friend look so devoid of emotions. The girl he grew up with was staring back at him like a blank canvas and it caused a involuntary shiver to ripple through his body.

"My eyes?" She questioned her voice monotone and lifeless. She then looked up at the metal light hanging above the table and sighed. She stared into her reflection with the same blank face. Stiles moved forward and placed his hand on her shoulder. She didn't acknowledge Stiles gesture.

"Aria." Stiles called out to her finally causing her to look away from her reflection. She slowly turned her head to look at him. Stiles eyes watered at the sight in front of him. It was like seeing her a few months ago in New York all over again. Her eyes held a hollowness he had hoped never to see again.

"Yeah?" She questioned. The door closed behind them causing Stiles and Scott to turn around. Aria turned back to her reflection and continued the blank stare.

Deaton walked forward with Orion following close behind him looking solemn. He stood in front of the usually headstrong girl and felt a slight pang; as he saw the hollow misty grey color in place of the usual chocolate emotion charged irises.

"Aria?" Deaton called out to the girl in front of him. She slowly looked at him and suddenly like a switch her demeanor changed. Her posture became broad and stiff. Her eyes held a hard glint.

"Deaton." She bowed her head slightly in a respectful manner. He nodded his head at her acknowledgment. His eyes glistened with sadness but tried his best to push it away as he turned to Scott.

"Trust me." He mouthed and Scott nodded his head.

"I'm here because of the Kanima situation, aren't I?" Aria's voice sounded hard but not cold just emotionless; blank.

"Yes. Scott, here needs your help." Aria turned to Scott and nodded her head. She bowed her head in a respectful manor once again. Scott looked to Deaton who motioned for him to acknowledge her. Scott bowed his head.

"I will do whatever you need of me." Aria said to Scott who in turned looked to Stiles and Orion. Both boys were looking at Aria as if she had grown twelve heads.

"Thank you. I…uh…appreciate your… help." Scott answered her uncertainty filling every word.

"Good." Deaton said as he clasped his hands in front of him. "Aria and Orion, you two will need to be prepared." Deaton looked to the duo. Aria nodded her head and looked to Orion.

"Let's go. We are going to need to be fully prepared. Stocked to a pulp in weapons. This creature is ruthless."

She then turned to Scott and bowed her head.

"I will be waiting at the designated location." Aria then turned and walked out the door with a very worried looking Orion following behind.

Scott and Stiles watched as the girl who literally acted like she had split personalities walk out the clinic.

"Care to explain?" Stiles asked Deaton with awe expression on his face.

She gave into her Sentinel magic. She let it take over completely." Deaton sighed. "Basically gave up her humanity and is now running on instincts." Deaton looked at both of the teen boys in front of him. He watched as they processed the news. Scott was the first to come out from his thoughts.

"So, what you're saying is she just pulled a Peter Hale?" Scott asked with a horrified look on his face.

"Basically." Scott let out a strangled noise. Stiles eyes watered as he held back tears.

"I've seen her like that before. Except her eyes weren't that creepy color. She wasn't anywhere near crazy like Peter. It was my Aunt Lena's death that caused her to be that way but this time what happened?" Stiles voice came out soft.

Deaton nodded his head and place both his hands on both boys shoulder.

"Emotional trauma. I think with everything that has been happening and especially with the new knowledge of her situation with Orion. He explained that Isaac decided to make the beak up permeant. I think that made her feel out of control. What she is searching for his control." Deaton sighed and looked at both boys. "She isn't turning into a murder. Werewolves who lose their humanity become wolves. Killers by instinct. Where as Aria has become more like a soldier. A emotionless soldier, that runs only in survival mode. She will only think of her pack and nothing else. She is primal and cruel when she sees it fit and doesn't second guess. To her there is no right or wrong just her packs survival." He sighed as he let the news sink into the boys.

I walked beside Orion and looked around to see that this place was completely filthy. I wondered why anyone would want to be here.

"Aria, I'm sorry. I just want you to know that I didn't mean for this to happen." Orion's voice sounded sad and I turned to look at the guy walking beside me. He was wearing a black v-neck under his black leather jacket and had on dark denim jeans with his combat boots. His dark brown hair was pulled back into a ponytail and his blue green eyes looked tormented, but even with his eyes glazed over in torment I couldn't even feel one emotion. I just shrugged my shoulders and handed Orion the black bag filled with weapons.

"I'm fine. This isn't something that you should be sorry about. I'm better this way." I said and stopped him. "Look, don't beat yourself over this. There is no time. We got a task ahead of us and we need to complete it. Scott is counting on us. So man up and put those feeling aside." I commanded. Orion looked completely shocked my words but I could careless. "Now, hand over my knife thigh holster."

Orion recovered and opened the bag. He pulled my holster and handed it to me. I hiked up my black leather high wasted skater skirt and placed the holster that contained tiny knives around my right thigh. Once secure and in place I shrugged off my black leather jacket and Orion helped me put on my shoulder gun harnesses over my grey cropped top. I placed my jacket back over my harnesses concealing the guns. I looked at Orion and placed my hand out.

"What else?" He asked surprised.

"More knives." Was he an idiot? We are facing a Kanima. I've seen this thing. I've seen what it can do. Orion shook his head and handed me two more small knives. I bent down and placed them inside my combat boots over my black knee high socks and inside a ankle holster. I looked at Orion and he nodded his head. He then proceeded to stock himself in guns and strapped his Katana to his back.

"Call Paige and makes sure she is with Derek." I commanded as I surveyed our options. There weren't a lot of places to hide but that was a good thing. I walked forward examining all our options if we had to escape.

"She's with him and fully armed." Orion placed his phone in his pocket.

"Good." I turned to my right to see Scott and Stiles pulling things out of Stiles' jeep.

"Hey." I called out to Scott as Orion and I walked toward him. Scott and Stiles turned to look at us.

"What do you want us to do?" I asked knowing perfectly well we needed to get this situation under control. The Kanima needed to be stopped. I didn't matter whether it was Jackson or not. He needed to be stopped.

"Orion you can stay here with Stiles. Aria you come with me." Scott suddenly looked around. "NO. Not here not now!" He said as he began to run. I quickly followed behind but not before I got to hear Stiles yell after us.

"What?! Scott! What am I supposed to do!" I turned around to see him and Orion standing beside on another. Orion looked worried where as Stiles looked completely wrecked.

Scott handed me a ticket.

"Look Allison is here and I've got to make sure she is okay." I rolled my eyes. "You ca-" before he could finish I interrupted.

"You are an idiot. We have more important things to take care of. Someone especially that girl is going to get murdered if you don't keep your head on what is important, but hey you do what you think is right." I looked at a confused angry looking Scott. "I'll do what is necessary." I shoved passed Scott and handed my ticket over. I walked into a dirty dingy looking place. It smell of booze, sweat, and hormones.

"Disgusting." I said aloud as I surveyed the place looking for Jackson. I walked forward and bumped into someone. When I looked up I cocked my head to the side.

"Seriously?" I question the tall lanky man I knew as my Chemistry teacher. Who was standing beside a very young blond who had jailbait wtitten all over her skanky ass.

"She's 21." He replied.

I tsk'd him and chuckled.

"Rocking the cradle aren't we." I shoved passed him and the blond girl.

Mr. Harris? Who knew he had any sort of game?

I walked forward and made my way through the crowd searching for Jackson as sweaty bodies collided into mine. I rolled my eyes as I pushed people out of the way. I suddenly felt a hand grab my wrist and immediately brought my hand to the persons throat.

"Aria, it me." Scott said through clenched teeth.

I let go and bowed my head.

"Sorry." Scott shook his head and grabbed my wrist again.

"It's okay, my fault. Let's go." I let Scott drag me because it was clear he wasn't going to say anything.

"Aria, I'm looking for Isaac and I know you are like this because of him, but we need his help." Scott said with sympathy in his eyes.

I stopped in my tracks causing Scott to turn and stare at me. I paused as I looked at Scott. Isaac, the name didn't make anything rise to the forefront. I shook myself out of the thought and really looked at Scott.

"No, don't apologize. We need all the help we can get. We need to deal with the big problem that's at hand. And that's Jackson." I replied.

Scott nodded his head and motion for me to follow him. We went further into the filth of dirty bodies clashing against each other. I was getting pretty frustrated maneuvering through the crowd and finally had enough. I bumped people out of the way. It was working pretty great until this towering big hunk of muscle didn't budge as I repeatedly shoved him.

"MOVE!" I jumped to hit him over the head and he looked down at me with angry eyes. I narrowed my gaze at him and opened my leather jacket a fraction to show off my all black .45 colt pistol.

"Try me." I said with a mischievous grin that I'm sure made me look like a mad woman because he instantly back down. I arched my eyebrow as he moved to the side to let me pass. I chuckled as I walked passed him. I sauntered my way toward a stunned looking Isaac and worried looking Scott.

"Hey." I said as I stood beside Scott and crossed my arms. "So, what's the plan, Scott?"

Scott pulled out a syringe and handed it to Isaac. What?! Why him?

"Mmm…Scott? Why are you giving it to him and not me?" I questioned.

"Because I got to make sure that Argent doesn't completely ruin the plan and if something goes wrong here. You will intervene. You are more skilled so you need to be safe. We need your powers and weaponry skills when its crunch time." Scott informed me and the whole time I could feel Isaac's eyes on me."Okay." I nodded my head in agreement with Scott.

"Okay, look, you better do it intravenously which means in the vein. When you find him, you pull back on this plunger right here. In the neck probably is going to be the easiest. So you find a vein, you jam it in there, and pull back on the trigger." Scott hands a contemplating Isaac. "Be careful." Scott added at the end looking a Isaac with finality.

"Oh, I doubt it'll even slightly hurt him." Isaac said with a fake smile. He was clearly nervous.

"No, I mean you. I don't want you to get hurt." Scott answered him and then looked toward me. "You too. Please, Aria, I know this whole emotions off thing makes you feel invincible but your not. So, please be careful." Scott placed his hand on my face giving me a pleading look.

The hand or the eye gestures weren't making anything come forward. I still felt empty but I nodded anyway. I had to follow his orders. Scott nodded and ran away. I turned to see Isaac staring at me.

"What happened to your eyes?" Isaac's voice sounded hollow. "To you?" I arched my eyebrow at his question and shook my head at him.

"Don't act so worried. Go and do your job." I answered as I surveyed the crowd around us spotting Jackson advancing on his next victim. "Go! He's on the prowl!" I yelled at Isaac who was looking slightly upset, but complied anyway. I stalked off into another direction looking for the best place to follow their every move without a problem. I spot a place that slightly elevated with a crowd standing behind railings swaying to the music only slightly. I looked around to see if there was any stairs but of course there isn't. So, I take a few paces back and run forward. With a slight tug of my air wielding magic I gain a little boost so when I get my footing onto the wall and grab the railing to pull myself over. I stand above the crowd watching the giant cluster of people rubbing up against each other as they dance around like mad people. I look around to see Allison looking slightly annoyed while dancing with Matt. I eyed Matt as he looked around then at Allison. Even without my emotions interfering with my judgement. I can feel something isn't right about him.

I turn to look over to the cluster of people and find Isaac and Erica dancing with Jackson. With Erica in the middle of the threesome. I watch as the she runs her hands all over each boy. Then suddenly Isaac leant down and kisses Erica. My heart finally jolts for the first time in all day and then my heart starts to race and my eyes began to water. The pain is like knife literally plunging into my chest. I continue to stare at the two as they their lips touch and I clench the railings tightly as I try to regain control of myself, but a traitorous tear trickled down my cheek. At that moment Isaac decided to look up at me and his eyes widened.

POP!

"WOW!" A few chorus of voices said behind me as an over head light popped.

I closed my eyes pushing back the storm that was creating inside of me. I pushed it all out of me.

"POP! POP! POP!

Immediately I felt hollow again and I opened my eyes to see Isaac and Erica on the floor. I looked to see Jackson advancing on the his target. I jumped over the railings and landed with ease and immediately began to rush through the crowd. I see Isaac crawling toward the syringe and with my air wielding I am able to bring the syringe dragging toward me. I bend down and pick up the syringe and began to advance on Jackson. Once, I'm close enough I place my hand, concentrating on making my hand burn, Jackson clinch down to his knees in pain. Before he could react I plunge the syringe into his neck causing him to go limp falling backward with Isaac swooping in just in time to catch him.

"I've got him." Isaac said as he looked up at me.

"Lets get him tied up." I said as I walked passed him not giving him a second glance.

"You know it was only an act." Isaac whispered beside me. I turned to the towering boy in front of me and arched my eyebrow. The feelings from earlier had been completely thrown out and I didn't, once again, feel anything but hollowness.

"Not good enough because I had to save your asses." I plainly said with no hint of jealousy or anger; just plain truth. Isaac's eyes glazed in confusion and Erica looked at me weirdly.

"What's wrong with you? Are you wearing contacts or something?" She asked with snark oblivious to my new status. I quickly walked up to her and with a flick of my wrist pinning her to the wall. She tried her best to thrash against my hold but she was literally stuck to the wall.

"You, little pup, will not speak to a superior in that manner." Isaac's hand touched my shoulder.

"Aria, stop. This isn't you. I know you and you are in there." His words sounded pleading but it didn't nudge me.

"I'm here. I just don't have all those pesky emotions." I squeezed my hand a little and Erica immediately began to gasp for air. "Don't disrespect me. Do it again and I will crush your wind pipe with just a squeeze of my fist." I opened up my palm causing Erica to fall to the ground coughing and gasping for air. I chuckled and walked up to her. I stood face to face with her fear tainted eyes.

"Oh, these." I pointed to my eyes. "Aren't contacts. Just a minor side effect to shutting off my emotions." I said in a matter of fact tone. Erica looked at me like I was seriously crazy.

My phone immediately began to vibrate and I pulled it out. Orion's face popped up.

Faint gunshots in the distance…

"Aria, I need your help. Hunters." Orion said breathless. The Argents of course always have to ruin everything, They would pay.

"Okay, where are you?" I asked in a rushed tone.

"Around where we met Scott and Stiles. I sent Stiles in already but I am having a lot of trouble getting them off my back." Orion voice was shaky as if he was running.

Multiple gunshots…

"On my way." I placed phone back in my jacket pocket. I checked myself for the guns, ammunition, and knives when I had tabs on all my weapons. I stepped toward the door.

"Hey, you are not going out there. You aren't skilled like them." Isaac stood before the door. "Don't go. It's not safe." His eyes were watery and looked worried. He was stupid to think he could stop me.

"I have no emotions in the way. I will be fine." I answered. I wasn't lying it seemed that drawing only from my Sentinel side and not my human side made me really damn good at defending myself. I guess it's because there wasn't that small voice in the back of my head telling me killing was wrong. "Now, move or I'll make you." I said through gritted teeth.

Before I Isaac could respond Stiles comes barging in giving me my opportunity.

"Gotta go." I said as I ran out the door.

I shoved my way through the crowd and had to punch multiple people on my way. Once I pushed the door open I heard faint sounds of gunfire. I ran toward the sound and pulled out my .45, but not before noticing the ring of mountain ash. Stiles. I smiled as I jumped over the ring and ran toward the gunfire.I leaned against the building to see Orion fighting with a few of the hunters. He was taking on about five and I knew that more were coming. I placed my gun back in the holster. I ran forward and pushed my hands forward send two of the men flying into the building behind them. They fell to the floor in lifeless pile. Orion used my distraction on the other two pulling out his Katana and sliced the two men before they had a chance. I swiftly pulled out a small knife from my thigh and threw two into the third man's chest before he could even fire his gun.

"Thanks." Orion said with a smirk.

"What kind of partner would I be if I didn't?" I replied as we heard more gunfire coming our way. I pulled out my guns and we hid behind a dumpster. Multiple footsteps came toward our way and I heard the cock of a couple of guns.

"We know your out here." The voice said with a chuckle. I peered to see only three guys. I grabbed onto Orion's face.

Only three. I'll take the two on the right you take the one not the left.

I communicated through our bond. Orion's eyes widened and he smirked at what I had just done. I mouthed "One…two…three." on three we both came out and shot the three men dead. We looked to each other and I nodded my head. We began to walk forward and then as if the air I was breathing was completely curt off. Sending me to the floor gasping for air. Orion dropped down to the floor beside me.

"Aria?!" Orion yelled out and all I could do was gasp like a fish out of water. I felt everything around me start to be covered in a blanket of fuzziness. My body was lifted off the ground and I was being carried.

"It's okay, I've got you." Orion whispered into my ears.

I was jolting up in down in Orion's arms as he ran.

"What the hell happened?" I faintly hear Derek's voice.

I felt my chest tighten and I gasped for air again but came up short.

"I don't know. She just collapsed. I think she's having an asthma attack." Orion said.

"She doesn't have asthma." Stiles voiced came forward.

I felt delict hands touching my face but I could barely see but the outline of the person seemed to be Paige.

"Aria, can you hear me?" Her voice sounded frantic.

"Y-y-y-ye" I gasped for air. "ah" I answered her.

I clutched my chest and groaned.

"ARIA! Why can't I pass through?!" Isaac's voice sounded so far away.

A distant howl could be heard and I felt an agonizing pain come from my chest as I hear it. Scott. He's dying.

"Break it." Derek's commands.

"What? No way." Stiles yelled out confused.

"Scott's dying!" Derek's voice held fear behind them.

"Okay, what? How do you know that?" Stiles countered.

"S-S-Scott" I gasped for air again. "d-d-dying. H-he r-r-r-right." I began to cough and gasp for air.

"Oh, my God, Stiles, they are both dying! Break it!"

"Ah -" Stiles bent down and broke the mountain ash barrier.

I gasped for air and my lungs felt like they were tightening as I tried my hardest to breath. I needed to breathe and I had felt calm before but now as it got harder to breathe I began to feel fear. I didn't want to die.

"Aria." Isaac pulled me away from Orion and held me close. "She's dying!" He yelled out.

"I-I-Isaac." I whispered as my world turned black.

Derek and Isaac leaned against the wall of the clinic as they watched both Scott and Aria lying unconscious on metal tables as Deaton checked their vitals. Derek looked toward the two teens and couldn't help but feel thankful that they were alive.

"Thank you." He said to Deaton as he walked away from the two teens. Deaton nodded his head as he walked out the room.

"You need to get your shit together. If not you will lose her." Derek said to his beta beside him. Isaac let out a sigh and nodded his head.

"I know."

He hoped he hadn't already lost her. If he did he didn't know what he'd do. Both wolves closed their eyes one willing himself to not cry over the girl he loved and the other willing himself not to fall asleep. Even though he was filled with exhaustion.
