Chapter 24

I followed Scott into Derek's lair just a few hours after almost dying. We had awoken to Isaac and Derek waiting for us. I really didn't understand why I had almost died and Deaton said he didn't understand either, but he seemed to know more than he was letting on. I was too exhausted to fight him on it and let it go. For now, that it is.

Now, I was following my best friend into my former Alpha's lair with my ex-boyfriend in tow. Who might I add was looking pathetically sad. I leant onto Scott who had his arm wrapped around my waist holding me up.

"I'm saying we need a new plan, because next time, one of us is gonna be too hurt to heal. Or Aria won't have Orion to heal her." Derek said trying to instill into Scott's brain that we are all in more danger than we had originally suspected.

"Ugh, I get it. We can't save Jackson." Scott finally voiced what we had all been suspecting.

"You can sit me down." I said motioning to on of the many benches inside the train car. Scott looked at me examining my condition.

"Okay." Scott finally compiled and sat me down. In an instant Isaac was by my side. I rolled my eyes and looked at the two wolves discuss Jackson.

"Look, we can't seem to kill him either. I've seen a lot of things, Scott. I've never seen anything like this." Derek looked down to his hands in defeat.

"Every new moon's just gonna make him stronger, isn't it?" I questioned Derek. He looked up at me and nodded his head as he let out a sigh of exhaustion and frustration.

"How do we stop him?" Scott questioned. We all turned to look at the Alpha as we waited for an answer.

"I don't know. I don't even know if we can." He shrugged in a defeated manor. I let out an annoyed sigh. Could he really even qualify to be an Alpha? This guy was clueless. He didn't deserve to be an Alpha.

"Maybe we should just let the Argents handle it." Scott sighed as he said the most desperate thing.

"I'm the one who turned him. It's my fault." Derek's words were the last of my patience.

"Yeah, just another reason as to why you shouldn't be Alpha. You have no clue what you are doing. This new wolf, your 'beta', has a better head on his shoulders than you." I pointed to Scott. "Of course you'd be the one to screw up. Turning kids into wolves." I arched my eyebrow. "You are a weakling. A Volkova descendent wouldn't have you as her Alpha." I said as I stood up and began to slowly make my way out of the car.

"Well a Volkova would never shut out off her humanity. They were strong women. Your mother was a strong woman, but it seems like you are nothing like her or her descendants." I turned back to Derek to his eyes just as cold as mine. "Taking the easy way out. I never pegged you for a coward." His last words were smug.

"I recall when there was a time when I was pathetically stupid to think you were capable of being a great leader. I never pegged you for screw up, but I guess we were both very wrong." I tuned around and stepped out the car onto the platform. I decided I would wait out here for Scott and then we'd head out together. Didn't want to be in the presence of a clueless Alpha.

"Aria." Isaac's voice sounded from behind me. I didn't even stop to acknowledge him I just kept slowly moving forward. Curse this crap! Sucks that I don't have super healing like Scott.

"Hey." Isaac said as his arm goes around my waist. I look up at his blue eyes and could feel a small twinge in my chest. No, this couldn't be happening. I wouldn't let this happen. I closed my eyes and blocked it away. When I finally opened up my eyes again. Isaac was staring at me with curiosity.

"What do you want, pup?" I asked as I tried to get myself out of his arms. Isaac face turned extremely serious and rather fierce.

"To apologize." He said with an intensity to his voice I didn't even know he possessed.

"Look, if you are trying to apologize for my new status. There is no need too. I'm better this way." I replied as I tried to pull myself out of his grip. Instead, of getting further away from him, he pulled me closer. Isaac placed his hand on my cheek.

"I do need to apologize because I hurt you. I left you. Something I promised you I'd never do. I just felt so defeated because of the situation with Orion, and I let my fear get the best of me." Isaac said as he caressed my cheek. "I was scared that you'd hurt me, break me, and leave me. So, I did the thing I always do. I run after I take a hit. I could just hear my father's voice in the back of my head saying 'You are weak. Pathetic. Weaklings are never loved.' I let him get the best of me even after he is gone."

I just stared into his eyes holding back the emotions behind the closed door. Isaac seemed to notice the inner turmoil that was taking place inside me. He placed his forehead against mine.

"I'm sorry, baby. This isn't you, but I know that you are hiding away because you're hurt. I did that too you and I'm truly sorry, but I want you to know that I will wait as long as it takes you to come back to me. I know when you are ready you will and I will be here waiting for you." His blue eyes were filled with unshed tears. "I love you so damn much. You are my mate." His voiced cracked as the words left his mouth.

My chest felt as if it was hit with a brick and I pulled in a deep breath willing everything to go away. I wouldn't get hurt again. I was weak when I was filled with all my emotions. Isaac placed his lips on my forehead giving it a gentle peck. The lights began to flicker a bit as I tried to control myself.

"Rimi, you okay?" Scott's voice brought me out of my inner turmoil and as I looked up at him the emotions died. I instantly pulled away from Isaac.

"Yeah, I'm okay. Can we go?" Scott came toward me pulling me into his arms. Isaac looked down at Scott with an fierce deadly gleam in his eye and Scott eyed him just as deadly. Isaac looked down at me and gently stroked my cheek.

"I'll wait as long as it takes." I turned my face away from him and Scott took that as our cue to leave.

As we walked out of the station Scott turned to me looking into my, now ever present, grey eyes.

"It's okay to feel. It doesn't make you weak. It actually makes you stronger." He said as hugged me. I didn't hug him back I just stood in the same place. I couldn't feel anything at the moment and I liked it better this way.

I walked up to the front door with Orion and Stiles. I didn't really want to attend the ever so obnoxious Lydia's birthday party but of course Scott and Stiles enlisted the help of Orion and I. They needed our help with the Jackson situation. Duty calls.

"You look nice." Orion said as he gave me a small smile. I had on a plaid skirt jumper with a black cropped top under paired with my ever present combat boots. I really wasn't into dresses but lately it seemed they were the best to wear to conceal my weapons. Of course I was stocked in weapons. This Kanima was brutal and we need all the power we could get to go up against it.

"Thanks." My reply was short. Stiles turned to look at me and nudged his head toward the doorbell.

"Doorbell, please." Stiles said in anxious tone. I rolled my eyes seeing him holding on to a huge box covered in yellow and pink gift wrapping paper and a huge pink bow at the top.

"Such a huge gift for a girl with a huge ego." I said as I pressed the doorbell. The door opened with Lydia standing with a tray of drinks in her hand.

"Happy Birthday!" Stiles retorted with a huge smile on his face. I rolled my eyes and walked in and passed Lydia.

"Mhmm." Lydia cleared her throat. I turned around to look at her and arched my eyebrow.

"Aren't you forgetting something?" She asked with a glare.

"Happy Birthday, Ginger." I said as I turned and walked off. I heard her let out a huff and then she shouted.

"Don't forget to try the punch."

I walked around and noticed that the place was scares. There was literally no one around. Wow, she really wasn't popular anymore. I turned a corner of the house and my phone suddenly began to vibrate. Paige's smiling face was on my phone screen.

"What's up?" I answered.

"Calling to see if your okay. You know checking in on you and my brother. I know the full moon is just as hard on you two." Paige's concerned voice echoed through the phone.

"Yeah, I have my amulet on so I should be good." I grabbed onto my amulet and squeezed it tightly. "Orion seems fine. Maybe a little agitated but that's normal for a full moon." I said as I saw Orion walking toward me with a look of pure annoyance on his face. She chuckled in response and added.

"I can't help Derek tonight because I'm actually helping Deaton. So, if he calls you, answer. He might need help. Three Betas on a full moon, not easy."

"Yeah, alright. Bye." I said as I hung up.

"Why'd you take off without us?" Orion questioned as he let our a agitated sigh. "It took us a whole ten minutes to get that gift through the door." He said as he looked at Stiles with annoyance. Scott was standing next to Stiles with a smirk on his face.

"Precisely why I left." I said as we walked toward the backyard.

"Have you seen Jackson anywhere?" Stiles questioned trying to change the subject.

"No. Seen Allison?" I rolled my eyes at Scotts question.

"No, but we should probably tell her what we found." Stiles answered causing Orion and I to look at him with confusion.

"I'm still kind of not sure what we found." I answered pretty confused.

"I figured out it has something to do with water. You know, the fact that all the victims were on the swim team, the way the kanima reacted around the pool." Stiles looked at me as we walked out on to the backyard. I scanned the backyard. It was just as dense as the inside of Lydia's house.

"So whoever's controlling the Kanima really hates the swim team?" Orion retorted with a shrug of his shoulders.

"Hated the swim team. Specifically, the 2006 swim team. So it could be another teacher. Maybe like a student back then. I mean, who are we missing though? What haven't we thought of?" Stiles said as we walked further into the backyard.

"Isn't a bit ironic that whoever hates the 2006 swim team has Jackson, the captain of the current swim team, killing them off." I interrupted with a devious smile on my face. "Oh the irony." I chuckled just as Allison walked up the four of us.

"Uh, Jackson isn't here." Allison clued us in.

"Yeah, no one's here." Stiles gestured to the empty backyard.

"Maybe it's just early." Orion and Scott said in unison causing Allison to smile at the two boys.

"Nobody's coming because Lydia's turned into the town whackjob." I brutally stated what everyone else was thinking.

"Well, we have to do something, because we've completely ignored her for the past two weeks." Allison tried to justify, but in my opinion she got her karma in the popularity situation.

"She's completely ignored Stiles the past ten years and stole my best friend. Yeah, this whole predicament she's in is called Karma." I crossed my arms over my chest and Allison shook her head in disapproval.

"I prefer to think of it as me not having been on her radar yet, Aria." I shook my head in disbelief.

"We don't owe her a party." Scott said to Allison.

"Exactly! Thank you, Scott." I replied as I patted his back. Allison arched her eyebrow at me with a look of disbelief on her face.

"Aria, come on. Somewhere deep inside I know you'd agree with me." She then looked toward Scott with pleading eyes. "What about the chance to get back to normal?" Those big brown doe eyes were causing Scott to slowly cave.

"Normal?"

"She wouldn't be the town whack-job if it wasn't for us." Allison eyes were now looking like Puss in Boots.

"I guess I could use my co - captain status to get the lacrosse team here." Scott finally caved. Took all but whooping ten seconds. I through my hands in the air in complete irritation.

"SERIOUSLY!" I shouted into the air and walked off toward the table where Lydia had refreshments. I looked at the table lined with glasses filled with pink punch.

"Do you have anything other than this crap?" I asked her as she placed drinks onto the tray.

"No." She stated bluntly as she continued to place glasses on the tray. I rolled my eyes and leaned against the table.

"Why are you wearing contacts? Think it's going to make your ever dullness appealing?" Lydia questioned without snark. Which was surprising. She was actually speaking to me without any attitude. Mhm. Weird.

"Yup." I said as I began to walk away.

"At least take one." Lydia shoved a glass toward me. "You never know you might like it." I took the glass from her hand. She smiled at me and then walked away. The strange thing was it wasn't a fake smile either. Orion came toward me and smiled.

"I know you said we were coming her to do our duty but could we be like normal teens for one night. Doesn't seem like Jackson is coming. So can we just have fun." Orion asked apprehensively. I looked around and smirked.

"No one's here." Just as the words left my mouth a lot of kids came rushing into the backyard. Dammit.

"You were saying." Orion said with a playful smirk. I shook my head.

"No, we need to stay focused." I said sternly. Orion moved his glass around causing the pink fluid to swirl around inside the glass.

"Look, I've a hard time tonight you know the freaking full moon effects me. I need to take the edge off okay." He looked down at his glass. "I'm not you. I can't be under the full moon and not have the urge to use my gift." He looked up at me with his dark brown hair pulled back into a low ponytail with two stray strands framing his face. His eyes were filled with terror as he looked at me.

"Well, if it's going to keep you in control, so be it." His face instantly relaxed. "But only to take the edge off. Don't get drunk." I said as I walked into the house.

I walked further into the house to see Matt taking Allison into a room. The shiver ran up my spine again so I rushed up the stairs to room they had walked into. I pushed my way passed people who didn't understand what it meant to move out of the way.

"MOVE!" I shouted in frustration causing some of the lights to flicker. The people crowding the place stopped for a few seconds in wonder at why the lights had suddenly flickered so violently giving me the opprutonity to rush toward Alliosn.

"Um, Matt, some of those pictures I - I don't even know how you took them." I heard Allison voice. I leaned against the door to hear his response.

"Telephoto lens. I mean, come on, Allison. Photographers call them candids." Matt replied trying to make light of the situation. That was the last straw. He was a creep and I wasn't about to let Scotty's girl get stalked by some creep.

"What the fuck! Candids! You know police officers call it STALKING!" I said as I rushed to Allison's side. I glared at Matt and looked toward Allison.

"Are you okay?" I asked her but could tell on her face that she was visibly shaken. She nodded her head.

"Stalking. So I'm - I'm a stalker now. That's - is that it? You - you two think my bedroom is wallpapered with Allison's photos. You think I'm the kind of guy that's gonna say something like, "well, if I can't have her, no one can." Well, you know what?" Matt looked at Allison with a psychocatic gleam in his eye. "Get over yourself, because there's another pretty girl walking through the room every five minutes." Matt practically yelled at her.

"Dude, get the hell away from her. Don't ever speak to her again, or so help me I won't kick your ass. I will kill you." I grabbed Allison who had a look of pure terror on her face and pulled her toward the door.

"Allison, wait." Matt said as he grabbed Allison's arm. Instantly, Allison and I grabbed Matt from either shoulder and kicking his feet out from under him. Allison looked down at Matt guilty.

"What the hell is wrong with you two?" Matt angrily asked as he laid on the floor in pain.

"Don't touch her again." I kicked Matt in the stomach and pulled Allison out of the room. We walked down the stairs and I turned to look at Allison who was looking around terrified.

"What's wrong?" I asked her as I tried to eye what was causing such terror.

"I think someone is following me." She whispered as she looked around. I pulled her behind me and glanced around but didn't see anyone. Allison suddenly began to hyperventilate as she screamed.

"NO, no, no! NOT HERE!" Allison screamed from behind me.

"What's the matter?" I grabbed Allison by the shoulders and shook her.

"Aria! Don't you see her coming! OH MY! SCOTT! We need Scott! SCOTT!" Allison began to yell at the top of her lungs.

I let go of Allison as I looked around and suddenly she gasped in hunched in pain. I turned to see her grabbing her stomach.

"Aria, help me." She cried out. I pulled Allison into my arms and consoled her.

"She's coming" She cried and then suddenly her eyes grew wide with shock as she stared straight into nothing. I kept shaking her trying to get her to respond to me. What the hell is going on? Allison gasped again and looked down at her stomach and then myself.

"What the hell just happened?" I questioned.

"I think I just had a hallucination." She said with wide eyes. Allison then began to explain how she saw herself shoot her. That it felt extremely real.

"The guys!" We both said in unison as we began to walk around looking for them. We were almost outside when we spotted Orion on the floor rocking back and forth.

"O!" I shouted as I ran up to him. "Hey, you okay?" I asked and his eyes looked distant.

"Paige, I'm sorry. I'm sorry." He kept repeating with tears running down his face. I looked to Allison who was looking at him in pity. I turned my attention back to him and grabbed his face in mine.

"Listen to me. It's not real. What ever you are seeing isn't real." I said to him as I searched his eyes. They still looked dazed and I turned to Allison.

"No one is paying attention, right?" I asked as we both looked around to see that the party had turned into an big old tripped out orgy.

"Ugh. Gross." Allison and I said to each other. I pulled out a knife from my boot and made a huge gash on my hand. I hissed at the pain. I grabbed Orion's hand and placed it over my wound. Like a switch Orion was out of his trance and looking dazed at his hand. The golden light appeared as he healed my hand. It traveled toward my heart and Allison gasped in awe.

"Wow, that's amazing." She said in admiration.

"It's our thing." I said as I motioned between the two of us.

"What the hell just happened to me?" Orion asked in confusion as he rubbed his hand over his face.

"You all are hallucinating. Well, it seems like everyone here at the party is. Expect for me." I said as I watched everyone carry on in odd behavior. We began to walk outside when Allison grabbed my hand.

"Can you hold up a sec. It's my dad." She said as she motioned toward her phone. I nodded my head as I looked at Orion.

"I know I don't have my emotions on but if you need to talk you can. I won't be any help but I can listen." Orion smiled in return and shook his head.

"Thanks but no thanks." He replied. I turned to see if Allison was ready but when I turned to look at her she was staring into nothing again.

"Allison?" I questioned. She slowly looked up at me and her eyes were extremely watery.

"It's my mom. I need to go to the hospital." She said and rushed off. She couldn't go alone. Especially, with what happened with Matt.

"Look, for Stiles and Scott make sure they are okay. I'm gonna go with Allison." I didn't give Orion time to respond because I was gone by the time I finished the sentence. I rushed out the door and found Allison jogging toward her car.

"Allison, wait!" I shouted and she instantly turned around.

"I'm coming with you." I said as I jogged up to her. She nodded her head as her eyes watered more. As, we approached her car I grabbed her shaking hand. She looked up at me with tears running down her cheeks. I felt a pain take residence in my chest as I stared at the girl.

"I'll drive." I said as I gently pulled the keys out of her hands. I could feel the emotions pounding on the door that held them in. I gripped the steering wheel trying to keep it closed.

I sped the whole way to the hospital as Allison messed with the hem of her dress nervously and tried desperately not to cry, but stray tears kept making their way down her cheeks. I parked the car into the parking lot and we rushed out of the car and into the hospital. She rushed to the counter where a nurse was on the phone.

"M-my mother. V-V-Victoria Argent. She was admitted." Allison said through a shaky voice as tears spilled down her cheeks. The woman with dark red hair that was obviously boxed dyed and too much make up. Picked up her perfectly manicured hot pink nail and motioned for us to wait. The door was slowly becoming unhinged.

"WHAT THE HELL DO YOU MEAN WAIT?!" I yelled at the woman. Who arched her too damn thin black eyebrow at me. At least dye your eyebrows. "HER MOTHER IS HERE! GIVE US THE DAMN ROOM NUMBER!" I yelled. Instantly, Scott's mother comes running up to us. Her face was solemn.

"Sorry, about that sweeties." She said to us. "Third floor. Your father's waiting for you honey." Melissa said as she guided us toward the elevator.

"Thank you, Mrs. McCall." Allison barely got out through her tears. Melissa pulled her into a hug and then caressed my cheek giving me sad smile. We entered the elevator and I grabbed Allison's shaking hand.

"I'm here." I said as I pressed the number three and held her hand the whole way up. I kept trying desperately to keep the door from becoming unhinged but seeing Allison being here. It was becoming all to much. It felt all to familiar. As the elevator chimed she squeezed my hand tightly. Once the doors opened we saw her father standing talking to a cop. Then behind him I saw a body with a sheet covering it. Allison rushed toward her father and I slowly walked forward. I placed my hand over my chest which was starting to fill with pain as I watched Allison clutch onto her father as cries ripped through her. I gripped my chest and felt the pain of the door starting to try and pound it way open.

Her once vibrant face was now pale and her cheeks were hollow. Her hairless head was wrapped in a knit beanie that belonged to Stiles' mother. He thought it'd make her feel better. It did. I clutched onto her fragile hand. As I her breathing became labored. I felt tears start to flow down my cheeks. Her eyes slowly opened and she smiled a small smile.

"Don't cry. I'm always going to be with you. You just won't seem me but you will feel me." She took in a ragged breath. "When an unexpected breezes hits you, or the smell of flowers unexpectedly fills you, or when a ray of sunshine hits your face, that'll be me."

My heart felt as if it was ripped from me and I looked into her blue eyes.

"I love you." I said between cries. Her hand squeezed onto mine.

"I love you, evermore." She said with he last breath leaving her. The monitor suddenly flatlined as I saw my mothers face looking at me with peace. I felt the walls around me collapse. She was gone just like that. Gone. I placed my lips to her hand and kissed it.

"Evermore." I whispered.

The painful memory etched its way into my heart and before I knew the door bursted open; the flood gate of emotions poured into me. I felt all the tears flow down my face I clutched my chest and felt myself about to collapse when suddenly arms pulled me up.

"Shh…it's okay. Daddy's here." My father cooed me as he pulled me into his arms. I grabbed onto him and cried into his chest as he continued to hold me.

"I'm sorry." I said into his chest as I cried. I was sorry. I loved him. I looked up at his red rimmed eyes and he looked so pain filled.

"I love you." I said and my father's composure broke. Tears spilled down his face as he pulled me into his chest.

"I love you too, Sweetie." He said as he kissed my head. I pulled away and slowly walked up to Allison and her father. She turned to look at me with tears spilling down her face and her eyes took me in.

"I'm sorry." As the words left my mouth she pulled me into a hug. She continued to sob as I hugged her and in that moment as I held onto Allison. I knew we were friends.

"ISAAC!" I yelled as I ran down the stairs into the station that Isaac and Derek called their home. I had gotten a call from Derek earlier that he needed our help. Of course I didn't actually get the call because I was at the hospital with Allison; but as soon as I'd seen the message I raced straight over. Once, I had my emotions back I realized that Isaac was worth fighting for. He pulled me out of the depths of despression I hadn't really realized I was in until now.

"Aria!" Isaac called back. I rushed to where his voice originated and I reached one of train cars. I walked through the threshold I could see Isaac chained to one of the benches. He looked up at me with a small smile.

"Hey." I sighed with relief as I saw he was okay. I rushed toward him and wrapped my arms around him. He sighed as he used nuzzled into me. I smiled as I pulled back to look at him. His blue eyes widened as he looked into mine. The realization that they weren't the misty grey color and were now my original chocolate brown irises.

"Your eyes. They're beautiful. It's you." He said as he placed a hand on my cheek.

"I'm back." I said as I leaned into his hand his warm hand. I smiled as I looked into Isaac's blue eyes and realized that it was eerily quiet. I perked up and looked to the back of the car to see Erica and Boyd chained and knocked out. I looked around trying to see if Derek was anywhere around.

"Derek?" I asked Isaac. His face turned confused as he looked around the car.

"I haven't heard from him since he chained me back up." I looked to see that Isaac's arm was chained to the bench but that was it. He wasn't as restrained as the other two pups. I eyed him and touched his face.

"Are you okay? Wait, did you say again?" I questioned him and a smile appeared across his face.

"We kind of escaped and Erica and Boyd kind of lost control. They tried to kill Derek, but I helped him. He should be around here somewhere. He was fine." Isaac said as he looked up at me.

"You didn't answer my question. Are you okay?" I asked again feeling worried for him.

"As, long as you are with me I'm fine." He grabbed my hand a pressed a kiss against my knuckles and I shivered in response causing a chuckling to be heard from Isaac. He pulled me down into his lap and began to nuzzle my neck. "You are my anchor." He whispered into my ear. My eyes widened at the revelation. That was a huge deal.

"Isaac, I don-" Isaac shushed me and placed his lips onto mine. It was a gentle kiss and I couldn't help but feel safe in a werewolves arms on a full moon.

"I love you." Isaac's said against my lips. I opened my eyes and stared into the blue eyes of the boy captivated me all those months ago. I felt love again because of him.

"I love you, evermore."
