Chapter 26: Help You To Remember The Dead
Part Two
"Aria." I heard the last voice I'd thought I'd ever hear, again.
I opened my eyes and there she was. With her long blond hair, beautiful green eyes, and the only smile that could make me feel home.
"Mom?" I whispered unsure.
She nodded her head and her arms were suddenly around me, encasing me, I felt peaceful. Content. I wrapped my arms around her waist and felt the strangest urge to giggle. When it left my lips my mother pulled back and began to giggle as well. I felt complete and utter joy as I looked at my mother.
"I've missed you." She said as she caressed my face.
"Me too, Momma."
She grabbed my hand in his hers and she looked up. Thats when for the first time I took in our surroundings. We were in a meadow. The blades of grass were gold and the sky around us was bluish purple with wisps of clouds scattered across the horizon. We were surrounded by mountains and wildflowers that ranged from purple, blue, pink, and white. It was magnificently glorious. I took in a deep breath of air and smelled the most amazing aroma.
"It's majestic, isn't it?" My mother said causing me to turn toward her.
"Yes. I love it." I replied.
"You know this place is our special place. This is the place we can spend eternity."
"I died." The words left me but I wasn't sad. I was at peace.
"Yes, you did." My mother didn't sound happy.
"We can be together now. Just like before." My voice was wistful and held pleading to it.
"Eternity together hasn't started yet." Her voice held sadness I hadn't heard in her voice in many years.
I shook my head and threw my arms around her.
"I don't want to leave you. Not again. Please."
"Shh." My mother cooed me as she stroked my hair."You my little light are destined for a greater destiny than I ever anticipated." She kissed the top of my head.
"I'm not ready."
"We never are. Just know that there is one person who holds the key to everything." I looked up at her words and cocked my head to the side.
"Who?"
"The person who's always been there for you. Since the start. The bond will be tested but trust in it. Trust in him." Her words began to echo.
"Evermore, Milena."
I felt like I was falling one moment and then suddenly, when I felt like I was going to hit the bottom, my eyes shot open. I felt myself gasping for air. My head pounded and the voices around me sounded like I was at a lacrosse game. I looked around but couldn't make out anything, I shut my eyes.
"Aria, are you okay? Can you hear me?" Orion's voice echoed and finally came into focus.
I slowly opened my eyes and I looked up to see Orion's long disheveled hair falling across his worried red rimed eyes.
"I-I died." I stated the obvious. "My m-m-mom." I fell forward and cried.
Orion's arms instantly went around me pulling me into a hug.
"I brought you back. We couldn't lose you." I felt his lips touch the top of my head. "I couldn't lose you."
My heart ached at the sheer agony that his voice held. It pained me that he thought he loved me, but it pained more that I didn't. I pulled back and looked around to see I wasn't in the police station anymore.
I looked down to see that I was sitting on a cold metal table. I looked around to see that I was at Deaton's clinic. The scenes of what happened prior at the police station played across my brain. In an instant I was trying to shot passed Orion.
"Scott." I tried to move but Orion was holding me down. I looked at Orion.
"What are you doing? I need to get back to Scott." I shoved his arms away. "My cousin and Derek need me too. They are in danger." I shouted.
"I know how do you think you got here? Paige and I were there. We saw everything." Orion hit the table with a force I didn't expect. "Damn it, Aria! I watched you die!"
I studied Orion's face to see that he looked like he'd walked through hell and back twice. His hair was a complete mess and beads of sweat were falling down from his scalp and on to his forehead. His eyes were red puffy and from the dark circles under his eyes made him look like he hadn't slept in days.
"How am I alive?" I questioned.
Orion backed away from the table and hit the wall. He slumped down on to the floor and brought his legs up resting his arms on his knees. Orion just looked down at he ground for a beat. Then he looked up at me with a tear in his eye.
Orion pushed the door to the small closet but his sister's hand wrapped around his arm and yanked it back. Orion looked up at Paige to see her shaking her head furiously. Orion closed his eyes and left the door cracked so he could see Scott, Stiles, and Matt's confrontation.
Orion watched as Aria kicked her way into the station. His heart stopped as he watched her sass the psycho gun wielding Kanima master. His whole posture took on a defensive position and he reached for his Katana but felt his sister grab him again.
She shook her again and mouthed a firm NO. Orion pulled his arm a little but Paige kept her hand on his wrist firmly. The chorus of horrified No's caused both Paige and Orion to turn. They looked through the crack to be horrified by what was playing before them. He watched as Jackson's claw dug deep into Aria's upper abdomen, and watched as blood spurted out of her mouth the minute his claw pulled out. Orion's heart stopped beating and reached for his stomach. He was sure that his hand would have blood as well. The pain that pierced through him had to be part of there bond, but when Orion looked down there was nothing.
Paige seemed to read into his distress and wrapped her arms around him. Orion didn't understand why she was doing that till the minute she whispered into his ear.
"Calm down. We can save her. Just calm down. We can't help her if we are dead." Orion realized that his sister didn't have to read into his distress. It was seeping out of him.
He was full on fury. He had been almost loudly huffing in puffing in rage reaching for his Katana.
Orion kept his eyes on Aria as Stiles cradled her in his arms and Scott looked down at her in agony. He watched as tears flowed down Scott's face and wondered how much were his feelings and closeness to Aria platonic. Orion watched as Scott caressed her face and when the howl that racked through the station hit the walls. Orion let the tears trickle down his cheeks.
"Shh. It's not over. You can bring her back." Orion stiffened at Paige's words.
"Trust me?" Orion looked at his sister with a dumbfounded look.
"Of course."
"Then wait for my signal. When I tap four times on your back, you go and get her. Run straight to Deaton." Orion nodded his head with tears still falling down his cheeks.
Orion turned back to the scene in front of him and watched as Jackson sliced Stiles neck rendering him paraplegic. He watched Matt and Scott leave somewhere further down the station. He watched as Scott looked down with tears tracking down his face as at Aria one last time before leaving out of his view. It seemed like the an eternity before Paige tapped his back giving him the signal.
Orion burst through the closet and toward Aria's lifeless body.
"Where have you been. SHE NEEDED YOU!" Stiles whispered loudly trying not to yell.
"I'm here now. I am going to fix her. I'll bring her back." Orion shot back as he scooped her up and cradle her gently.
"Go! Now!." Paige instructed as she took cover.
Orion ran as fast as he could through the doors and out to the parking lot. He pulled open the door to Jeff's BMW and slid Aria into the backseat. He pulled into the driver seat and started the car. He sped to the front entrance and watched Paige run to the step and toward the door and opened.
"I'm staying. I just saw some hunters getting here. I am gonna hide out and do recon. GO! Bring her back." Paige instructed as she slammed the car door. Orion didn't waste anytime and sped away and off toward Deaton's office.
Once outside the back entrance Orion pounded on the door with Aria in his arms.
"Deaton. It's Orion." He yelled as he pounded erratically.
Deaton opened the door about to give Orion a scolding but stopped when he saw the Aria's lifeless body.
"I need to bring her back."
Deaton moved quickly and rushed to the back room.
"Place her on the table."
Orion rushed toward the table a carefully placed Aria on the table. He looked up to Deaton.
"How long has she been." Deaton struggled to finish his sentence making it clear just how much Aria meant to him, too.
"Fifteen at most but that's pushing it."
"Okay, I am going to need you to do something you can't take back." Deaton warned.
"I don't care. I'll do anything." Orion pleaded.
"You are going to have to unlock Fedor." Orion's eyes look back Deaton stunned and confusion is written across his face.
"He's part of you. Part of your magic. It's the same for Aria except Soshanna is strong. She has pushed herself out a few times but Aria is just as strong, possibly stronger." Deaton continued going through jars as he spoke. Orion looked back down at Aria and began to stroke her hair. He didn't know if and care if he looked creepy. He just needed to keep himself close to her.
"Fedor and Shoshanna are connected to the both of you spiritually. It's like a puzzle. There is your magic and Aria's magic which fits perfectly, which is how it should be. It's your bond." Deaton's continued words are flowing out fast and rushed as he gathers supplies. "What makes you and Aria different is that Fedor and Shoshanna are directly linked to you two. Fedor's magic is connected to you and Shoshanna to Aria and just like your bond. Fedor and Shoshanna have one as well, that is still connected."
"So, basically we have twice the magic than any normal Sentinel and Healer?" Orion questioned.
Deaton turned to look at Orion and shook his head.
"I don't know, but in theory yes."
"So what are they going to do? Try and possess us?" Orion's words are serious and hold no sarcasm.
"To be honest, I don't know but what I do know is if you let Fedor's magic flow and stream through yours. You will bring her back."
Orion looked down at Aria's lifeless body and knew regardless if it brought danger to his life. It wouldn't matter because she was alive.
"Okay, I'm ready. Let's do this." Orion looked up at Deaton with determination etched on his face.
"What did you do, Orion?!" I commanded.
The look of fatigue on Orion's face and posture was enough to have me worried beyond a doubt.
"It doesn't matter you are here now." Orion's words sounded tired and lifeless.
The anger at his choice to put his life in danger to save me and take me away from my mother disminshed. I felt terrible for the way I had just yelled at him when it was obvious he was exhausted. I got off of the table and made my way toward him. I was completely perplexed with how normal and alive I felt. I sat down beside Orion and placed my arm around his shoulder. He slowly leaned down and placed his head on my shoulder.
"I'm sorry for the way I acted." Orion was silent and I couldn't see his face because of his hair draping over shielding him from view. "Thank you." I slowly moved his hair away from his face.
A lone tear trickled down his cheek causing my heart to stop. I hated how selfish I was when it came to him. I hated that he had these feelings for me that I couldn't reciprocate. I cleaned the tear off of his cheek.
"I'm sorry."
"For what?" He asked as he looked up at me. His eyes were glistening with unshed tears.
"Everything." Orion looked at me with confusion. "Our bond. The way I've trampled on your feelings, and for being a complete bitch."
Orion gave me a small smirk that was somewhat pained but still held a bit of his usual charm. The door burst open and Deaton walked into the back room with a container of mountain ash. The smile on his face as he looked down at me was one that held so much relief.
"You ready to help Scott?" Deaton asked.
The police station was in complete chaos when we arrived. Orion and I slowly made our way through the front doors. The fire alarm was ringing and all the lights had been cut off. I looked down to see the puddle of blood beneath my feet. I looked up to see Orion looking at me conforming what I had suspected. This is where I had died. A chill traveled up my spine. I took a breath and continued walking.
It was surreal that I had just died and was now coming back to the place where I was killed. I was crazy. I walked further into the station and was almost knocked back by Allison.
"Aria, you should leave." Allison's voice was cold.
I eyed her cautiously. I could see that Allison would never be the same after what happened tonight. I nodded my head at her and watched as she ran down the hall with a crossbow in her hand.
"Follow her. Make sure she's fine." I whispered to Orion.
"No, you need me."
"YES. She needs someone to make sure she doesn't do anything she will forever regret."
"I thought you hated her."
"I don't. Just trust me, okay." Orion sighed and nodded his head.
"Call me if you need anything. I'll be at your side in an instant." Orion said as he tapped his head referencing to our new found telepathy.
I nodded my head and watched him run off. Once he was out of view I headed down toward the hall. I walked as quietly and quickly hoping I could fine Scott. I reached the end of the hall and took a right. As the hallway comes into view there he was. Scott was standing at the end of the hall. He was facing the opposite direction. I take a step and at the sound of my footstep Scott turned around.
A gasp escaped his lips as he stood frozen. He looked at me with disbelief on his face. I watched as a million emotions played across his face and his eyes glistened. My stomach flopped as I stared at my best friend. I gave him a shaky smile as I felt my throat constrict. The image of Scott's tear stained face before I died kept coming to my mind. Scott came running toward me as if my small smile broke him out of his stupor.
I felt his arms wrap around me and automatically my arms found there way around his neck. Scott's hands gripped into my back as he held onto me tightly. I could feel his heart hammering over mine and his body shaking.
"A-Aria?" Scott's shaking voice bellowed into my ear causing a small shiver to occur.
He pulled back and placed both his hands on my face his dark glistening eyes searched mine. He placed his forehead against mine and closed his eyes letting out a sigh. I felt my heart racing uncontrollably as his thumbs caressed my face. Scott's face came closer to mine and he rubbed his nose against mine affectionately. My whole body began to warm at how intimate this whole exchange felt. Scott opened his eyes and looked down at me.
"I lost you. You were gone." The words flowed through him but the look of anguish on his face proved just how painful it was to utter those words.
Tears began to trickle down his face and Scott smiled down at me with so much warmth.
"I love you." Scott whispered out. His voice was husky and low.
I felt my heart stop because this I love you sounded different. I felt the tears I had been holding roll down my cheeks.
"I love you, too." The words flowed out instantly.
Scott leaned in closer to me and my arms went around his waist. We were moving closer together like a magnetic pull you couldn't separate. It was a natural instinctually pull. Scott looked into my eyes and I saw something that was alway there but seemed to be awaken and intensified. I watched as his eye flutter closed and began to lean down closer to my lips. I closed my eyes and felt his lips a hair away from mine. I felt the heat radiating off of them. Then the heat was gone and I opened my eyes to see Scott eyes widened.
"Someones coming this way. I think it's Gerard." I looked up at Scott who was looking at me with what looked like regret. I felt my heart break at the look in his eyes. "You need to get away from him. Stiles is in one of the integration rooms." I nodded my head and began in the opposite direction.
Scott grabbed my hand and tugged me toward him wrapping me in his arms again. My arms wrapped around his waist and I felt him place a kiss on top of my head. I let the object fall into his back pocket.
"Please, be careful. Don't ever leave me again." My heart swelled at his words.
"I could never leave you." I whispered into his chest.
