CHAPTER 5
It's time to believe
„Yo, Sam is in town." Artie yelled at him, while he held a big shield with a scrawly handwritten note above his head. It said 'Welcome to New York, Sam'. Sam laughed when he had read the note and greeted his old friend.
"Artie! Nice to see you again." Sam smiled at him.
"You too, bro." Artie said and hugged his old Highschool friend back. They smiled at each other while they left the airport.
"How was the flight?" Artie asked while his driver helped him from the wheelchair into the backseat. "This is Luke, a good friend of mine. He had a lead role in my play."
Sam shook Luke's hand. "Nice to meet you."
"Nice to meet you too, Sam." He answered after he helped Artie on the backseat. Sam sat next to Artie.
"The flight was okay. I almost forgot how cool it is." Sam said honestly. He had never flown with an airplane, since high school. His parents couldn't afford it and to be honest, he hadn't known where to fly. He hadn't thought about vacation, either.
"Nice to hear, buddy." Artie said and slapped him on his back.
"Can we talk about how you solved the problem, that you and I suck at drawing?" Sam asked interested.
"Sure we can, after we meet our artist." Artie said nonchalant.
„Artist?" Sam asked, confused by Arties words. He couldn't really follow Artie's trail of thoughts. "Where is he?"
"A good friend of mine, I met him a few weeks ago." Artie explained. "You know him too." Sam scratched his neck and frowned.
"Sorry. I don't get it. You said you met him a few weeks ago." Artie laughed after Sam words. He didn't understand why Artie was laughing at him. His question wasn't stupid, was it? Sam got insecure, when he spoke his next words. "How can I know him? I wasn't with you then."
"He is an old Highschool friend of ours." Artie looked at Sam's confused face and laughed louder. "I meant I met him again. Accidentally." Sam didn't get the hint. He just stared at his old friend. Artie must have noticed his dumb look. "You have really no clue, do you?"
"Don't laugh at me." Sam said with a small smile. "And to the defend myself, I have a few hours flight after me." Sam laughed too.
"Of course that's an apology." Artie said sarcastic and slapped him on the back again. "You will see."
Sam was really embarrassed that he had no clue who the artist could be. A old Highschool friend wasn't helpful, but he remembered McKinley Highschool. He hadn't known anyone, who had been a good artist. Finn couldn't even draw a stickman. Sam wasn't sure if he ever saw Puck draw and by the handwriting of Mike, Sam was sure he couldn't draw either. Sam also didn't know who was good at drawing and maybe Artie was wrong and he never got to know him. Maybe it was after his time at Lima. Sam looked out of the window and said no word about his thoughts. He just stared at the buildings and the lights, the mass of people. He always wanted to go to New York again after the Nationals. It just hadn't been possible. Now he was back in New York and it felt damn good. Sam smiled automatically and his eyes widened.
He remembers his last times here. It had been with the Glee Club. They had decided to write their own original songs. They had been terrible and Sam had thought it would be a disaster. But Mercedes had all these ideas. He had admired her for it. Sam had already been into her, he just hadn't known it for sure. They had built a strong friendship since Prom. Sam had loved to send her goofy text messages on his mobile. No matter what time it was, she had always answered him. They had their own jokes. And sometimes they had needed just one look to knew what the other was thinking about.
"Can you stop here, Luke? Thank you for driving me and my friend around." Artie said and Sam just listened with one ear to the conversation. Because he remembered when he they had performed the second song, after Finn and Rachel had kissed. They had danced with each other and after the last note had ended he had hugged her. She had smiled brightly at him and had given him a reserved kiss on his cheek. Sam touched as his cheek. He could almost feel it right now.
"It's a pleasure. Mindy is at her yoga class. I had time." Luke said joyful.
"But I'm sure there's other stuff you can do it your free time." Artie answered curiously.
"Of course Artie, but you helped me and her. It's the least I can do for you."
"Thank you very much." Artie said, when the door opened and a men suddenly popped up on the passenger seat.
"Yo dude, nice to see you." A dark voice said joyfully.
"Look who is here." Artie answered and greeted his old friend. Sam was still staring out of the window, when Artie slapped him on his shoulder. "Sam, wake up." He said amused.
"I am awake." Sam said fast and stared at the guy who was sitting on the passenger seat. He couldn't believe who was sitting there and grinned big at him.
"Sam Evans aka Trouthy Mouth is here. I can't believe it." Noah Puckermann laughed surprised.
"Puck, i can't believe it either." Sam wondered. "What are you doing here?"
"I am the genius who is gonna make your dream come true." Sam laughed, and looked at Puck.
"What?" Sam was really not in the best mood. He didn't get it at first. Then he grinned widely.
"What, you are our Artist? You can draw?" Sam couldn't believe it. Puck could draw, he had never known this about the rebellious guy with the good heart. He always remembered Puck as a guy with potential, but not at drawing or something. He had thought Puck would be a good actor or singer.
"Yes genius, I can draw. I can draw since I turned three years old." Puck shook his head.
"Nice, nice.." Artie interrupted. "Now we are complete. Luke drives us to my office and then we can plan this whole comic thing." Puck and Sam looked at Artie.
"Whoa when did you become the Big Boss?"
"I was the Big Boss in highschool and I am now. Get along with it Puckermann." Artie answered.
Puck smirked at him, while Sam shook his head. The hadn't changed at all. He felt like he was seventeen again and he liked it. The first time since he left the apartment and his sister, he felt good with the decision. They would make a good comic and maybe good money. He had hope, that everything would be better now.
